Rick Warren and Joel Osteen Speak For Oprah Winfrey

Apprising Ministries continues to warn of increasing syncretism. This is another example as Sola Sisters brings brings us Rick Warren and Joel Osteen Join Hands With Oprah by Marcia Montenegro.

Montenegro shares with us her personal impressions from viewing this edition of Lifeclass of Oprah Winfrey with Joel Osteen and Rick Warren:

On October 5th, along with others on Facebook, I watched 3 hours of live taping of Oprah’s Lifeclass online. This included an hour of Word Faith preacher Joel Osteen with Oprah and 2 hours of megachurch Pastor Rick Warren with Oprah. These programs will air later on the OWN network (Rick Warren’s two shows will air in early 2013)…

Osteen gave his usual Word of Faith teachings that words have power over our lives and this is the way to change our lives. He gave the same kind of affirmations that are taught in New Thought and the New Age, so Oprah was totally on board with this. Affirmations are statements that one repeats, verbally and/or in writing, so that they will become true.

Oprah was spiritually influenced by Unity minister Eric Butterworth’s teaching that Jesus came to show how to achieve Christ Consciousness (the realization that we all have an inherently divine nature). I was not surprised at anything Osteen said, nor that Oprah found him in line with her views…

I was hoping he (RW) would somehow give the gospel in the midst of his motivational advice, but he never did. He used the imagery of a poker game to explain we are dealt certain cards, and then gave a teaching on this that sounded like moralistic self-help programs I’ve heard so many times, throwing in a few Bible quotes taken out of context or misquoted. It was something almost any New Ager could accept. God becomes a tool for self-improvement and success.

Warren referred to Jesus, but took scripture out of context and applied things said to believers to everyone. He also misused the Proverbs passage that says “as a man thinketh, so is he.” This passage is a famous passage misused by New Thought proponents and is used in “The Secret.”…

but when Oprah referred to God, as she often did, Rick Warren agreed with her as though she was referring to the biblical God, which she was not. He even said a few times, “Oprah has a good point.” No, she never did! She was speaking totally out of her New Thought/New Age beliefs. (source)

Monsanto’s Nightmare is Real

Aside from the details of the study, a wider question remains. If Monsanto and other GMO giants are so confident in the safety of their products and have no qualms about them being in the food supply, why have they spent a combined total of over $19 million dollars in an attempt to prevent Americans from knowing that their food is genetically modified? Monsanto has bankrolled a huge campaign fronted by lobbyists in an effort to sink California’s Proposition 37, a bill that would simply mandate genetically modified food and ingredients be labeled at the retail level...

32 Percent Of Americans Would Have No Problem Walking Away From Underwater Homes

All underwater homeowners eventually come to a crossroads: Either continue funneling money into a home that costs more than it’s worth or strategically default –– ending their payments and waiting for the lender to foreclose.

Drugs: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The senseless Batman killings in Aurora, Colorado, as well as those that occurred years earlier in Columbine a few miles away, have something in common with the number one cause of overdose deaths in the United States and an important potential cause of teen suicide: prescription drugs approved as safe and effective by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

As an Austrian economist, I am not saying that FDA-approved drugs “caused” these problems. The people who took those drugs and did those things are the people who “caused” those bad outcomes. What I am saying is that the FDA is guilty of manipulating information and people’s choices and thereby contributes to all these negative outcomes.[1] I am also not saying that all FDA-approved drugs are inherently harmful, ineffective, or should never be used.

Psychiatric Drugs — Search Warnings, Studies, & Side Effects

Click here to visit the search engine http://goo.gl/sK0PC provided as a free public service by CCHR International, which contains a full list of international drug regulatory warnings & studies issued on psychiatric drugs, along with all adverse reaction reports on psychiatric drugs which have been filed with the US FDA from 2004 – 2011 by doctors, pharmacists, other healthcare providers, consumers and attorneys. All of this information has been compiled into one easy to search online search engine by the staff of CCHR International in order to provide the public at large with the facts about psychiatric drug dangers. By the FDA’s own admission, only 1 — 10% of drug side effects are ever reported to the FDA so the numbers contained in this database are much lower than what is actually occurring out in the consumer market. As psychiatric drugs are approved solely on short clinical trials (4-6 weeks), with virtually no long term studies once they are released for mass consumption into the consumer market – the Medwatch reports represent the only real post market surveillance of these drugs. This search engine essentially comprises all known, documented risks of psychiatric drugs. It does not contain opinion, just documented studies, warnings and post market data.

Digital Age overload: ‘Internet addiction’ to be classified as mental illness

Think twice the next time you play a videogame or surf the Net: ‘Internet-use disorder’ is set to be added to the list of mental illnesses in the worldwide psychiatric manual. Kids are identified as being especially at risk.

The international mental health encyclopedia known as the ‘Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders’ (DSM-IV) will include Internet-use disorder as a condition “recommended for further study” in its forthcoming May 2013 edition.

Psychologists believe that Internet addiction should be categorized like other addiction disorders as it has similar symptoms, including emotional shutdown, lack of concentration and withdrawal.

Parents have noted their children becoming angry and violent when their electronic gadgets are taken away from them, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. In other instances, kids preferred to play a videogame over eating or social interaction.

The Fuse Is Lit! Two Excellent Videos Outlining Where Things Stand In The Global Economy.

With the acceleration of economic and monetary events here is the first of 3 short films in 2012. Our focus is the US dollar, notably its status as the world’s reserve currency. The monetary greed and mountains of debt in recent years has deeply impaired the dollar’s justification to hold this prestigious and privileged position. We believe the US dollar’s tenure as the world’s reserve currency is rapidly approaching its end. We first explore the EU in that context. The fuse is lit!
