12 questions I wish every twentysomething would ask

Penny of a Thought

1383253_56864806Yesterday Relevant Magazine published an article entitled 11 Questions Every Twentysomething Should Ask. Written by Paul Angone, the premise is that as twentysomethings leave college and fully enter adulthood there is a lot of confusion on where one is headed, or where one wants to go for that matter. Angone writes,

“Often, the question of ‘what now?’ plagues us in our twenties like chickenpox. The more we scratch, the worse it itches. The overwhelming vagueness of ‘what am I doing with my life?’ can crush us like the bully who sat on our head in third grade.”

The article must have hit a nerve, because it’s been shared over 5,000 times since being published yesterday afternoon. Having just left the terrible twenties 113 days ago, I can testify that my twenties were full of more confusion and questions that I ever would have imagined. Some of that confusion has not left now…

How to tell if you are in the throes of Transformation

You’ve perhaps heard that movie line, “You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means.” It comes from the fictional character Inigo Montoya from the 1987 comedy film The Princess Bride.

Well, the term, “Spiritual Transformation” is one of those words that begs for definition. In the visible church, it has come to mean something very different from the transforming work of the Holy Spirit that Jesus speaks of.

Three things you can do to stay the course

In these days, we are seeing this great falling away that Jesus spoke of. The Bible predicted it. We are witnessing it.  BUT, what are Bible-believing Christians called to do in these last days?

Here are three things you can do right now, and it’s straight out of Scripture:

Daniel Wong’s Testimony

hipandthigh

I thought I had posted this video back a few years ago when it originally came up on Youtube, but after searching my archives, I couldn’t find that I had. A twitter acquaintance linked to it yesterday, so I thought I would share.

A couple of thoughts to take with you after watching it:

First. A number of months ago I was tangled up in a tweeting debate with a bunch of smart mouthed atheists who insisted that atheism has never been the cause of suffering, horror, and cruelty that religion has. Of course they cite the Crusades, inquisitions, OT genocide, etc. When I pointed out Mao and the Chinese revolution, a few never even heard about it (an alarming fact if true), but a number of them denied atheism had anything to do with Mao’s red guards rounding up Christians and killing them.  Dr. Wong’s testimony debunks such stupidity.

Private Interpretation Leading to Subjectivism

Possessing the Treasure

by Mike Ratliff

13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.  (John 16:13-14 NASB)

Even though it is discounted by many today, the Protestant Reformation was a wonderful work by God in that the Gospel was freed from the captivity of the apostate Roman Catholic Church. Over the centuries the Gospel had become obscured as the Bishop of Rome was declared perfect with authority over Scripture. Any resistance to his authority was dealt with through excommunication followed by being burned at the stake. The Reformation not only recovered the Gospel and Justification by Faith, the Bible became available to the common people whereas before…

19 Shocking Examples Of How Political Correctness Is Destroying America

If you say the “wrong thing” in America today, you could be penalized, fired or even taken to court. Political correctness is running rampant, and it is absolutely destroying this nation. In his novel 1984, George Orwell imagined a future world where speech was greatly restricted. He called that the language that the totalitarian state in his novel created “Newspeak”, and it bears a striking resemblance to the political correctness that we see in America right now. According to Wikipedia, Newspeak is “a reduced language created by the totalitarian state as a tool to limit free thought, and concepts that pose a threat to the regime such as freedom, self-expression, individuality, peace, etc. Any form of thought alternative to the party’s construct is classified as ‘thoughtcrime.’” Yes, people are not usually being hauled off to prison for what they are saying just yet, but we are heading down that path. Every single day, the mainstream media in the United States bombards us with subtle messages about what we should believe and what “appropriate speech” consists of. Most of the time, most Americans quietly fall in line with this unwritten speech code. In fact, most of the time we enforce this unwritten speech code among each other. Those that would dare to buck the system are finding out that the consequences can be rather severe. The following are 19 shocking examples of how political correctness is destroying America… (Read More…..)
