Albert Mohler Blog: “In Defense of Marriage and the Rule of Law — The Importance of Making the Right Argument”

In his recent Blog Essay, “In Defense of Marriage and the Rule of Law — The Importance of Making the Right Argument,” Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr. discusses the recent decision from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals affirming a measure limiting marriage to one man and one woman in the four states under its jurisdiction. Mohler writes,

“The ruling by the panel of the Sixth Circuit means that the question of same-sex marriage will almost certainly arrive again at the Supreme Court, and in short order. As Judge Sutton indicated in the opening section to his opinion, he fully expects the Supreme Court to rule in favor of same-sex marriage. In his opinion, he made clear that this would be a mistake and a violation of the Court’s own logic. More importantly, Judge Sutton made clear that he believes that any straightforward reading of the Constitution in terms of its original meaning would allow the states to regulate marriage and to protect natural marriage as the central organizing principle of human society.”

You’re reading Part 2 of a two-part post by Dr. Mark Shaw on Tough Love. In Part 1, Dr. Shaw contrasted the world’s definition of “tough love” with the Word’s definition. Today in Part 2, Dr. Shaw explores the role of “tough love” in biblical counseling. Continue reading

Humor: Horus Reads the Internet (Video)

Are Christians guilty of picking and choosing which laws from the Bible they want to obey and ignoring the ones they don’t want to obey?  This video offers a humorous and informed answer.
You can checkout the first video in this series here.

Chuck Lawless: 10 Ways the Enemy Gets the Upper Hand in a Church

Let me start this post with a clear caveat: Satan will not ultimately win as he attacks God’s church. Jesus broke the powers through His cross (Col. 2:15), and the enemy will eventually be cast into outer darkness (Rev. 20:10). In the meantime, though, the devil strategically attacks us. Consider these ways he seeks to get the “up”per hand.

Video: Obamacare architect admits deceiving the public was needed to get it passed

WINTERY KNIGHT

CNS News reports.

Excerpt:

A key architect of Obamacare has been caught openly boasting about taking advantage of, what he calls, “the stupidity of the American voter.”

MIT economics professor Jonathan Gruber spoke at a panel on October 17 on the political hurdles Obamacare faced in 2009-10. The video was unearthed and posted on Youtube by American Commitment.

Gruber was instrumental in crafting the legislation that was signed into law in March 2010.

In the midst of his explanation, Gruber bragged about the multiple deceptions the Obama White House perpetrated on the American people:

“This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. So it was written to do that. In terms of risk related subsidies, if you had a law which made explicit that healthy people pay in…

Never Forget – Already Forgotten!

Truth in Grace

11th of November is a special day around many parts of the world.

Veterans Day – This is celebrated in the United States and is a national holiday designated to honor all military veterans who have served or who are currently serving. Wikipedia notes, “Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving.”

Remembrance Day – Wikipedia notes that this “is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.”

What is not commonly known is that this is a special year of remembrance. The ode at the bottom of this post was written 100 years ago on the cliffs of Cornwall in the southwest corner of England…

Sola Sisters: Mark Driscoll Considering New Ministry, Still Has Not Repented Say Former Members & Elders

Posted by Christine Pack

Warren Throckmorton of Patheos, who has been doing a bang-up job of keeping us current on the very fluid situation of Mark Driscoll, is reporting today that Mark Driscoll is considering re-establishing himself as a pastor, under the auspices of Word of Faith false teacher Robert Morris. This should not be surprising, given that it was just three short weeks ago that Robert Morris gave the recently resigned Mark Driscoll a very warm and sympathetic welcome to his stage at the Gateway Conference. One wouldn’t even have to be a PR expert to guess that that appearance by Driscoll was in all likelihood his way of gauging whether or not he can still captivate a crowd without being asked too many pesky questions. And the crowd, indeed, did warmly receive Driscoll, who has been under fire in the last few years for plagiarism, a potty mouth, spiritual abuse, threatening to throw church members “under the bus,” partnering with heretics, and fleeing church discipline.

Huffington Post leftist credits black Republican woman’s election win to “white privilege”

Republican Congresswoman Mia Love Republican Congresswoman Mia Love

The Daily Caller reports.

Excerpt:

Mia Love, the former mayor of Saratoga Spring, Utah, won her race for Utah’s 4th congressional district Tuesday and will now be the first black Republican woman (and first Haitian-American) to sit in the United States Congress.

The heads of leftists have been exploding ever since Love’s victory as they attempt to come to grips with how a black woman could champion bedrock conservative principles such as fiscal discipline, limited government and personal responsibility.

The most fascinating treatise about Love — thus far —comes via The Huffington Post where Darron Smith, a desperately confused blogger with a Ph.D. in education, accuses Love of benefitting from a form of “white privilege.”

Education departments are an excellent place to go if you want to learn nothing at all of practical value, but borrow a lot of money to do it. It’s maybe not as…
