Obamacare, as it is commonly known, will cost 20 percent less than previously projected over the next decade, the CBO said Monday. The reason for the revised estimate is a result of a decline of healthcare inflation. In addition, the number of uninsured Americans has fallen by 12 million, and an additional 12 million are expected to gain insurance by the end of 2016.

The U.S. budget deficit will shrink for a fifth straight year in 2016, marking the longest span of improvement since the surpluses of the late 1990s, as falling unemployment helps increase revenue, the Congressional Budget Office said. The fiscal shortfall this year will decline to $468 billion, or 2.6 percent of gross domestic product, compared with $483 billion in the year ended Sept. 30 and $469 billion forecast in August.

The economy will have three years of growth before the government’s deficit weighs the country down, according to a report on the nation’s economic outlook issued by the Congressional Budget Office. By 2025, the federal budget may be returning to a $1 trillion deficit, mostly thanks to an increase in entitlement spending due to ObamaCare and the Baby Boomer generation collecting Social Security. In the short term, the economy will grow because of low oil prices, higher hourly compensation, and more people returning to the workforce and starting households. But the CBO revised its August prediction to say the GDP will only grow 2.5% per year instead of 2.7% because it overestimated how many people are leaving the workforce permanently — possibly for retirement. As James Pethokoukis writes for the American Enterprise Institute, “Let me boil it down for you: These are the good times. Enjoy them because things are unlikely to get much better. In fact, they are likely to get worse.” The economy will shift as the White House administration turns over. Hopefully by then, Washington leadership has enough economic acumen to tackle the deficit, regardless of how it may affect political careers. More…
$2 trillion. That’s what the Congressional Budget Office now says ObamaCare will cost over the next decade. If that figure sounds a bit higher than you remember in the 2009 sweep of Hope ‘n’ Change, that’s because it’s more than double what Democrats told us it would cost. The Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein writes, “When Obama pitched the healthcare law to Congress, he said it would cost ‘around $900 billion’ over 10 years. But his statement was misleading because the way the law was designed, the major spending provisions didn’t kick in until 2014. This meant that 10-year estimates at the time the law was passed in 2010 were artificially low, because they included four years (2010 through 2013) in which spending was negligible.” Democrats told the BIG Lie because they needed the American people to swallow ObamaCare, and keeping it in the “few hundred billion dollar” range was critical to helping the medicine go down. And for all that, 31 million people will remain uninsured 10 years from now. It was never about insurance, though — it was and is about control. More…
Billionaire Jeff Greene, who Bloomberg News describes as having “amassed a multibillion dollar fortune investing in real estate and betting against subprime mortgage securities,” has a pessimistic view of the U.S. economy. “Our economy is in deep trouble,” Greene said. “We need to be honest with ourselves. We’ve had a realistic level of job destruction, and those jobs aren’t coming back.” Because of that, he argues, “America’s lifestyle expectations are far too high and need to be adjusted so we have less things and a smaller, better existence. We need to reinvent our whole system of life.” To highlight his hypocrisy, he made the comments after having flown his wife, children and two nannies on a private jet (just one of about 1,700) to the climate confab in Davos, Switzerland. But we’re the ones who need to tighten our belts. By the way, Greene is a Democrat who ran for the Florida Senate seat currently held by Marco Rubio.
The trade of Bowe Bergdahl for five Guantanamo Bay prisoners set a dangerous precedent in the White House where terrorists — if detained for a few years — are viewed as harmless relics of the War on Terror. The sleeper agent for al-Qaida, Ali Saleh Al-Marri, was released with no oversight from Congress at the request of Qatar. As Noah Rothman at Hot Air points out, the trade may have been illegal because Obama broke the law by not informing Congress 30 days before he released the Gitmo prisoners. Ultimately, the administration’s trade of Bergdahl has only yielded bitter fruit. Bergdahl will be charged with desertion, a charge Obama would rather keep buried for political reasons. “This is shaping up to be a titanic struggle behind the scenes,” retired Lt. Col. Tony Schaffer told Fox News. “Believe me, the Army here wants to do the right thing. … And the White House, because of the political narrative, President Obama cozying up to the parents and because he, President Obama, releas[ed] the five Taliban. … The narrative is what the White House does not want to have come out.” It’s always cynical politics for Obama.
First, the good news: Thanks to U.S. airstrikes and Kurdish boots on the ground, ISIL has been almost repelled from Kobani. Taking back the Syrian town at the border with Turkey is mostly symbolic, but after the summer’s news of ISIL winning victory after victory this turnaround, however small, is welcome. The bad news is that ISIL has roughly doubled its territory since August despite U.S. bombings. The overall conflict has digressed so much that Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, broke from the White House’s saccharine foreign policy rhetoric. “I think the deteriorate and destroy of ISIL [sic] has had some victory,” Feinstein said. “I don’t know whether 6,000 ISIL people have been killed or not, but that’s the figure that’s been floated around. But that’s not going to do it. So where [Senator John] McCain is right, I do think we need some Special Operations [Forces] in these countries, on the ground, more than just advisers. And I think we need to protect our allies — that’s Israel, that’s Jordan, that’s Saudi Arabia — and be more pronounced about it.” You know the Obama administration is failing miserably when a Democrat calls for sending troops. Over the last several months, Americans have enjoyed paying much lower prices at the gas pump than they did the previous five years. While the relief at the pump is a welcome reprieve to Americans who have struggled to make ends meet, there’s trouble on the horizon.
During the State of the Union address, Barack Obama proudly announced, “We are as free from the grip of foreign oil as we’ve been in almost 30 years. … And thanks to lower gas prices and higher fuel standards, the typical family this year should save about $750 at the pump.” While this is welcome news, the truth is, to borrow his own phrase, Obama didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.
Rebutting Obama’s claim, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) said, “Our nation’s energy industry deserves the credit for the growth we see today. We are experiencing an energy revolution in spite of the president’s policies that are intended to stifle the development of our domestic resources.”
At least someone in Washington is willing to give credit where it is due.
Obama made clear during the SOTU that he would veto any legislation concerning the Keystone XL pipeline, which doesn’t comport with his frequent rhetoric about creating jobs. Senate Democrats followed the Pied Piper and temporarily blocked Republican legislation on Keystone Monday. But Obama isn’t just stopping with Keystone.
In a recent video depicting the beautiful wilderness in Alaska, he announced — from gas-guzzling Air Force One, no less — “I’m going to be calling on Congress to make sure that they take it one step further … designating it as a wilderness so that we can make sure that this amazing wonder is preserved for future generations.” That’s right, he wants Congress to designate the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) as a wilderness, so that it can never be used to drill for oil.
His Interior Department proposed on Sunday preserving more than 12 million of the 19.8 million acres of land in ANWR, which includes approximately 1.5 million acres believed to contain an abundance of oil and natural gas. Consistent with Obama’s contempt for Congress, The Wall Street Journal notes, “This abrogates a 1980 deal in which Congress specifically set aside some of this acreage for future oil and gas exploration.”
It’s worth mentioning that Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has pushed for ANWR to be opened for drilling to boost Alaska’s economy and allow for America to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. “What’s coming is a stunning attack on our sovereignty and our ability to develop a strong economy that allows us, our children and our grandchildren to thrive,” Murkowski said in a statement. But Democrats and now the president have said “no.”
Certainly, the Republican-led 114th Congress will reject any such proposal, so what’s the big deal? In short, Obama doesn’t think he needs Congress. According to another Wall Street Journal story, “[T]he proposed move puts the area into a state of de facto designation as wilderness and would prevent drilling.” Worse, the move could endanger the Alaska oil pipeline itself.
Clearly, the president lied to America when he said he wanted to work with Congress.
America has so much land full of natural resources such as oil and natural gas that can be extracted safely while doing minimal damage to the environment. And yet we can’t expect the price of oil to remain low, in part because Obama’s regulatory bonanza will always put ecofascism and his climate change agenda ahead of economic growth.
John Hofmeister, founder and chief executive of Citizens for Affordable Energy, warns that Americans are likely to see $5 per gallon of gas later this decade. Oil prices fluctuate and, although we are enjoying the benefits of an increase in American production and an increase in the global supply that has driven prices down, it would be naive for us to think that these prices will stay this low forever.
Put simply, government needs to get out of the way. Rather than creating regulations and job-crippling policies that impede our nation’s advance toward acquiring untapped sources of energy, it needs to allow ANWR and other federal lands to be put to use. Our economic future depends on it. And, by the way, there will still be plenty of wilderness left for caribou, polar bears and future generations to enjoy.
In case there were any remaining doubters, Barack Obama’s remarks on Iran during his State of the Union speech last week made it perfectly clear he believes reaching a deal is more important than the content of the deal. But he’s facing increasing opposition in Congress — even from his own party.
Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Mark Kirk (R-IL) have co-sponsored a bill that would ramp up the sanctions pressure on Iran, rightly judging that Iran has no reason to cooperate absent significant outside pressure. Even Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) may hop on board. The president threatened to veto any such legislation, claiming new sanctions “will all but guarantee diplomacy fails, alienating America from its allies and ensuring Iran starts up its nuclear program again.”
Perhaps it has escaped Obama’s attention that we have already alienated our key Middle East allies and friends when it comes to Iran, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. They all look with growing alarm at Iran’s progress toward nuclear capability at a time when Iran is expanding and consolidating its influence throughout the region. Yemen’s government could not be reached for comment, having just been toppled by Iranian-backed Houthi militants. Israel’s government will soon speak when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses a joint session of Congress, despite petulant objections from the White House.
Perhaps it also eluded Obama’s notice that Iran cannot “re-start” its nuclear program — because it has never been stopped. Iran retains all the components needed to produce nuclear weapons, a situation the current Joint Plan of Action essentially concedes to Iran. Despite five different UNSC Resolutions between 2006 and 2010 requiring Iran to cease uranium enrichment activities, Iran has not only continued those activities but has dramatically increased its enrichment infrastructure.
Despite the president’s claim that we have “reduced [Iran’s] supply of nuclear material,” we have in fact done no such thing. Iran has merely changed the chemical composition of some of its nuclear material, a process that is reversible at any time. Despite UN insistence that Iran halt work on the heavy water reactor at Arak, it is now physically complete and ready for initial testing.
After 12 years of lying, cheating, threatening, obfuscating and general misbehavior, Iran still faces no serious impediment to its nuclear program. U.S. and European sanctions targeting Iran’s oil industry — virtually the sole source of Iran’s economy — had been the only successful means of gaining cooperation from Tehran. But sanctions were cast aside just as they were showing real results, and the prospect of restoring them seems remote.
With oil prices the lowest they have been in years, Iran’s economy is showing signs of extreme stress even without sanctions. Restoring sanctions would thus be even more effective today than when they were imposed in 2013. But with a president apparently determined to achieve literally any deal he can get, don’t hold your breath on new U.S. sanctions — or any change in Iran’s behavior.

Senator Daniel Webster (1782-1852): “If the States were not left to leave the Union when their rights were interfered with, the government would have been National, but the Convention refused to baptize it by that name.”
Columnist Cal Thomas: “[I]f Republicans are serious about advancing protection for the unborn in the age of Obamacare, they will adopt a different strategy. They might start by looking back 50 years to the civil rights movement. People who are old enough to remember, or have seen the film ‘Selma,’ recall how pictures and personal stories helped move the hearts and change the minds of many Americans in support of civil rights legislation. Pictures of blacks being beaten by white police officers or being denied service at lunch counters or forced to use separate restrooms — even murdered — shocked much of the nation. As Black History Month begins next week, the Republican Congress should hold a series of hearings on the impact the elimination of 55 million unborn lives has had on our culture. They can begin with testimony from black women and men like J. Kenneth Blackwell, a former Ohio secretary of state and currently a policy board member of the American Civil Rights Union. … If ‘black lives matter’ — and they do and should — they need to be protected in the womb, as well as in the streets.”
Columnist Thomas Sowell: “When someone tries to lay a guilt trip on you for being successful, remember that your guilt is some politician’s license to take what you worked for and give it to someone else who is more likely to vote for the politician who plays Santa Claus with your money. … Some people see discrimination when schools punish black students more often than white students. But schools punish white students more often than Asian students. Lenders turn down black applicants for loans more often than white applicants — but they turn down whites more often than Asians. Most statistics on such things omit Asians, rather than spoil a politically correct story. … President Obama may have gained something politically or ideologically by recognizing Cuba, but just what did the United States gain? Like so much that has been done by this administration, the diplomatic recognition of Cuba demonstrates how safe it is to be our enemy, while our policies toward Ukraine and Israel demonstrate how risky it is to be our ally.”
Comedian Argus Hamilton: “Joe Biden acknowledged to reporters that he might run against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, and cited his foreign policy experience. Last spring, the U.S. traded five Taliban prisoners for one American POW. Originally the deal included Biden, but the Taliban said no.”

It pains me to say it but I believe it is true. U.S.-Israeli relations are heading for a train wreck. At one end of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C., the leaders of Congress have invited the Prime Minister of Israel to address a Joint Session of Congress, and the American people, in early March. These leaders want to hear from the Prime Minister on how we can best work together to protect ourselves from the growing and grave threat of Radical Islam, from crushing ISIS to decisively acting to prevent the mullahs in Iran from building nuclear weapons. At the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, the President of the United States flat out refuses even to meet with the Israeli Prime Minister. The Scriptures indicate that eventually every nation will abandon and turn against Israel. We’re not there yet, and we must pray America doesn’t turn against Israel and the Jewish people on our watch. That said, we’ve never seen an American President of either political party as consistently antagonistic towards our faithful ally Israel — and as sympathetic to our enemies like Iran — as we see today. |ISIS mobilizes 20,000 foreign fighters in Syria and IraqPosted: 27 Jan 2015 08:07 AM PST
The number of foreign fighters who have traveled to Syria and Iraq to fight in the Muslim-vs.-Muslim civil war there now has been estimated at 20,730, making it the “largest mobilization of foreign fighters in Muslim majority countries since 1945,” according to a new report. And officials with the International Center for the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence, a project of London’s King’s College, the Jordan Institute of Diplomacy, the University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University and the Interdisciplinary Center in Israel, say the combatants have been involved with either ISIS or Jabhat al-Nusra, a branch of al-Qaida. The organization said the figures also were reached after consultation with the Munich Security Conference. The fighters are identified as coming from 50 different nations, including some 4,000 from the dozen-plus nations of Western Europe. “This is nearly double the figure we presented in December 2013, and exceeds the latest estimates by European Union officials,” the report said. The report said 1,200 of the fighters have come from France, and another 500-600 each from the United Kingdom and Germany. But Belgium produced the highest per capita participation, with 40 fighters per million population, it said. “With up to 11,000, the Middle East remains the dominant source of foreigners in the conflict. Another 3,000 were from countries of the former Soviet Union,” the report said. More

|Iran Is Ditching The Dollar In Foreign TradePosted: 27 Jan 2015 07:45 AM PST
Iran is no longer using the US dollar in foreign-trade transactions and is replacing it with other currencies, t he deputy governor at the Iranian Central Bank Gholami Kamyab said, according to Sputnik News . “In trade exchanges with the foreign countries, Iran uses other currencies including Chinese yuan, euro, Turkish lira, Russian ruble, and South Korean won,” Kamyab reportedly said. He also reportedly added that Iran was considering bilateral currency-swap agreements, which would allow partners to exchange one foreign currency for the equivalent in the other currency. He did not explicitly name partners, however. Although nuclear sanctions imposed on Iran over the years are meant to deter the state from building up its nuclear-arms program, they could also be the catalyst that is pushing Iran to look for new economic partners. As Ian Bremmer noted, the glaring drawback of using coercive sanctions (and other weaponizations of finance) is that the targeted countries can and will increasingly diversify away from the dollar. And over the past few years, Iran has been strengthening economic and military ties with others countries (including China and Russia) in an effort to circumvent the Western-imposed sanctions. Turkey ran an extensive gas-for-gold scheme with Iran, which ran from about March 2012 to fall 2013 and yielded Iran more than $13 billion amid crippling sanctions implemented by the US over the country’s perceived nuclear program. |State Department Official Wants Disney’s ‘Frozen’ to Teach Kids About Climate ChangePosted: 27 Jan 2015 07:42 AM PST
A high-ranking State Department official wants to enlist Princess Elsa and a talking snowman to teach the American public about the Arctic. Adm. Robert Papp, the U.S. special representative for the Arctic, told an audience at the Arctic Frontiers conference in Norway this week that he met with a Disney executive to discuss raising awareness about the polar region using characters from the wildly popular movie Frozen. You can’t be in this business and not see Frozen, Papp said, adding that he has watched the movie at least 20 times thanks to his two young granddaughters. A staffer from his office came up with the idea for Disney to create public service announcements focused on the Arctic starring the movie’s main characters: Elsa, a princess with powers over ice and snow; her younger sister, Anna; a reindeer named Sven; and Olaf, a talking snowman who loves summer. “I said, you’ve taught an entire generation about the Arctic,” Papp said, describing his exchange with the Disney executive. “Unfortunately, the Arctic that you’ve taught them about is a fantasy kingdom in Norway where everything is nice. What we really need to do is educate the American youth about the plight of the polar bear, about the thawing tundra, about Alaskan villages that run the risk of falling into the sea because of the lack of sea ice protecting their shores.” But Papp said the pitch didn’t go over so well because Disney prefers happier tales. “As I continued to talk, I could see the executive getting more and more perplexed, and he said: ‘Admiral, you might not understand: Here at Disney it’s in our culture to tell stories that project optimism and have happy endings.’ ” More

|For First Time, ‘Alien’ Space Signal Detected Live by Scientists — And They Aren’t Sure What It IsPosted: 27 Jan 2015 07:31 AM PST
An unknown signal emitting from space was detected by astronomers live for the first time ever, scientists announced in a journal this month. The radio burst was detected on May 15, 2014 by astronomers in Australia but just reported in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, Fox News reported. “The burst was identified within 10 seconds of its occurrence,” said Emily Petroff, a PhD student at Melbourne’s Swinburne University of Technology, according to Fox News. “The importance of the discovery was recognized very quickly and we were all working very excitedly to contact other astronomers and telescopes around the world to look at the location of the burst,” she added. Scientists have long used equipment to search for radio signals, hoping to find signs of extraterrestrial life. The bursts, which emit as much energy in a few milliseconds as the sun does in 24 hours, have been detected before, Petroff told Fox News. And, while they were just detected here on Earth, the bursts actually took place a long time ago. More

|Obamacare costs $50,000 per taxpayerPosted: 27 Jan 2015 07:19 AM PST
It will cost the federal government – taxpayers, that is – $50,000 for every person who gets health insurance under the Obamacare law, the Congressional Budget Office revealed on Monday. The number comes from figures buried in a 15-page section of the nonpartisan organization’s new ten-year budget outlook. The best-case scenario described by the CBO would result in ‘between 24 million and 27 million’ fewer Americans being uninsured in 2025, compared to the year before the Affordable Care Act took effect. Pulling that off will cost Uncle Sam about $1.35 trillion – or $50,000 per head. The numbers are daunting: It will take $1.993 trillion, a number that looks like $1,993,000,000,000, to provide insurance subsidies to poor and middle-class Americans, and to pay for a massive expansion of Medicaid and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) costs. Offsetting that massive outlay will be $643 billion in new taxes, penalties and fees related to the Obamacare law. That revenue includes quickly escalating penalties – or ‘taxes,’ as the U.S. Supreme Court described them – on people who resist Washington’s command to buy medical insurance. It also includes income from a controversial medical device tax, which some Republicans predict will be eliminated in the next two years. If they’re right, Obamacare’s per-person cost would be even higher. More
The Shemitah: The Biblical Pattern Which Indicates That A Financial Collapse May Be Coming In 2015
Does a mystery that is 3,500 years old hold the key to what is going to happen to global financial markets in 2015? Could it be possible that the timing of major financial crashes is not just a matter of coincidence? In previous articles on my website, I have discussed some of the major economic and financial cycle theories and their proponents. For example, in an article entitled “If Economic Cycle Theorists Are Correct, 2015 To 2020 Will Be Pure Hell For The United States“, I examined a number of economic cycle theories that seem to indicate that the second half of this decade is going to be a nightmare economically. But the cycle that I am going to discuss in this article is a lot more controversial than any of those. In his most recent book, Jonathan Cahn has demonstrated that almost all of the major financial crashes in U.S. history are very closely tied to a seven year pattern that we find in the Bible known as “the Shemitah”. Since that book was released, I have been asked about this repeatedly during radio appearances. So in this article I am going to attempt to explain what the Shemitah is, and what this Biblical pattern seems to indicate may happen in 2015. If you are an atheist, an agnostic, or are generally skeptical by nature, this article might prove quite challenging for you. I would ask that you withhold judgment until you have examined the evidence. When I first heard about these things, I had to go verify the facts for myself, because they are truly extraordinary. Among the bombshells asserted by eight former church members: Scientology intentionally broke up Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman; it tortured some of its members in a prison known as “the hole” and subjected others to hard labor; it harassed those who left the organization and forced their family members to cut off all contact. A No-go Zone for Truth
by Cliff Kincaid
January 26, 2015
Accurately reporting on no-go zones dominated by Muslims in Europe is now a no-go zone. Our media have made a mess of the whole issue and are now afraid to dig themselves out. What a disgrace and disservice to news consumers.
Jumping on the pile, the left-wing Politico has published a story accusing Louisiana Republican Governor and possible presidential candidate Bobby Jindal of telling a “lie” about the no-go zones by saying they exist. But the story is itself based on a lie. Things are so twisted that Politico is doing the lying by denying that the no-go zones exist. How did we get in such a mess?
Let’s understand that the method in this madness is to accommodate the radical Muslim lobby and demonize politicians who talk about the jihad problem.
First of all, the evidence shows that the zones or areas do exist. We cited evidence for them, and numerous other outlets have done so as well. The confusion stems from a Fox News apology over the matter that should never have been made.
Steve Emerson made a mistake on one Fox show in saying that “in Britain, it’s not just no-go zones, there are actual cities like Birmingham that are totally Muslim where non-Muslims just simply don’t go in.”
Acknowledging his error, Emerson tells WorldNetDaily that he is nevertheless appalled that the media have now decided that any and all reporting on no-go zones is wrong. “It’s outrageous for media outlets to apologize, saying ‘no-go zones’ don’t exist in Europe, when even the New York Times for years has published articles documenting Muslim ‘no-go zones’ do exist in European countries like France,” he tells WND reporter Jerome Corsi.
Corsi notes that “NBC News, the New York Times, the Associated Press and others were using the term ‘no-go’ zones for Muslim-majority neighborhoods in Paris when Muslim youth gangs were rampaging through the streets and setting cars on fire.”
We made the same point in our treatment of the issue, noting that Fox News suddenly altered its reporting of the Muslim riots in France in 2005, determining them to be “civil riots” instead. We saw then the power of the Islamists to alter Fox’s coverage.
Fox News media reporter Howard Kurtz had a great opportunity on his Sunday show “Media Buzz” to set the record straight. Instead of confronting his own channel over the unnecessary apology, Kurtz praised CNN’s Anderson Cooper for making the same kind of apology. But then he mentioned that other outlets have been reporting on the no-go zones for years. So an apology wasn’t necessary after all! “The subject is complicated,” he said. No it’s not. Just tell the truth.
If all of this is unnecessarily confusing, it’s clearly because of the unnecessary Fox apology. It was a political apology. There is no other explanation. It is this kind of pandering that is becoming a pattern at Fox, which had earlier yanked anchor Bret Baier from a Catholic conference under pressure from the homosexual lobby.
Liberal special interest groups should not have this kind of influence on a news organization, especially one claiming “fair and balanced” coverage that is also supposed to be accurate.
Journalism 101 teaches that corrections or apologies are called for when errors are made. Since no-go areas do in fact exist, according to numerous sources, no apology was necessary. Yet, Fox News offered the view that since the no-go zones are not “specific” or “formal” entities, they really don’t exist. Fox was wrong. This is complete nonsense and a gross distortion of the concept.
Robert Spencer makes the observation , “The Fox apology is all the more curious in light of the fact that others, even on the Left, have noticed the no-go zones in France before some Fox commentators began talking about them in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attacks.”
Citing just one example of many, he notes that David Ignatius had written in The New York Times back in 2002, “Yet Arab gangs regularly vandalize synagogues here, the North African suburbs have become no-go zones at night, and the French continue to shrug their shoulders.”
Spencer notes that Fox’s apology “only plays into the hands of leftists and Islamic supremacists who have a vested interest in rendering people ignorant and complacent about the reality of what is going on in these areas.”
He suggests that Fox “apologize for its apology.” That would perhaps further confuse matters, but it is the right thing to do.
Without an apology for the apology, those who apologize for the Islamization of Europe like Arif Rafiq will continue to claim, as he did in Politico, that Jindal, by even discussing the no-go zones, “has been repeating a lie that even Fox News was forced to apologize for.” The Fox News correction, or apology, though unwarranted, is now being cited as the media standard.
Politico headlined the piece, “Bobby Jindal’s Muslim Problem,” as if the governor has a bias against Muslims. So a Fox News apology has now been transformed into an indictment of a conservative political figure. Soon, Jindal will be denounced as an “Islamophobe,” another smear term used by the radical Islam lobby.
The liberal media won’t believe any of Fox’s normal day-to-day reports. But when the channel claims to have made an error that makes the rest of the media look good by comparison, that suddenly becomes the truth and the channel has to be believed. This is how reality is turned upside down.
The real story is why Fox made this unnecessary correction. The clout of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Council on American-Islamic Relations is the most likely explanation. Fox has undermined its own credibility by apologizing for something that was true. It is bizarre and was absolutely unnecessary.
Pamela Geller is correct that the major media are “failing us.” It’s terribly tragic that at a time when we were depending on one channel, Fox, to tell the truth, it has failed us, too.

Enormous Hope, Unchanging Vice
If one man stands clearly apart from the entire western world, alone in his unwillingness to utter the simple phrase “radical Islamic extremism”, why on earth should Americans expect this same man to utter the simple phrase “personal responsibility” when facing racial issues; those not exclusively in our black communities, but within all American communities?
America’s Enemies in Hollywood Then and Now
With the war on Islamic terrorism being portrayed as a righteous cause in “American Sniper,” the Clint Eastwood film breaking box office records, a book which documents the days when Hollywood was a mouthpiece for communist propaganda might seem out of date. But Allan H. Ryskind’s book, Hollywood Traitors, is a reminder that Hollywood can’t always be counted on to take America’s side in a war, even a World War when the United States faced dictators by the names of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.
The Ryskind book, published by Regnery, documents how the much-maligned House Committee on Un-American Activities, known as HUAC, uncovered dramatic communist infiltration of Hollywood and forced the studios to clean house.
Obama’s Bloody Yemen Disaster
By Michele Malkin
The counter-terrorism model he boasted about in September isn’t looking so good now.
When President Obama declares something a “success story,” you know it has “TOTAL FAILURE” embedded in its DNA.
Four months ago, America’s King Midas in Reverse crowed about the fruits of his triumphant foreign policy in jihad-infested Yemen. A “light footprint” approach to counterterrorism operations, he claimed, was the most effective path to stability. In addition, Obama has shoveled nearly $1 billion in American tax-subsidized foreign aid to Yemen.
United States of Antichrist
Author’s note: My latest book, Antichrist Chronicles, set for release the week of January 26 details, in-depth, issues and events of these pre-Tribulation times. None of the prophetic signals occurring almost hourly more powerfully illustrate how near the rise of Antichrist this world is at present than does the subject of the following article, in my view.
The rise of the first beast of Revelation chapter 13 is on fast-track to fulfillment. The son of perdition’s kingdom is almost complete –the 666 economic power base I term the United States of Antichrist nearly in place.
Kudos to Congress and Netanyahu
By David Limbaugh
I wholeheartedly disagree. Netanyahu’s speech will put the spotlight on the substance of his arguments. Netanyahu will have the world stage, and he’ll make a powerful case that Iran is going full-bore and that at stake is not just Israel’s security but also that of the United States. In the past few days, Israeli media have claimed that satellite images show new long-range ballistic missile launch sites near Tehran.
13 Ways You Waste Your Money
About once a year I go through a phase—a deliberate phase—in which I evaluate our family finances to see where we’re doing well and where we aren’t doing so well. I especially look for places we are spending money we don’t need to spend—bills that are too high, subscriptions we no longer need, and all of those little money-wasters that eventually add up. And over the years, I’ve collected quite a list of ways that we, and perhaps you, waste money. Here are some of them:

Heaven: From Someone Who’s Been There | Worldview Weekend
Claims of sight-seeing return trips to Heaven and Hell are still in vogue among publishers today. However, I swear A Visitor’s Guide to Hell (Sterling Ethos, NY, 2014) is not a book vying to join that growing club. Launching from Jesus’ teaching about the rich man in Hell and Lazarus in Heaven the book explores the biblical descriptions of the afterlife.
We hate to be humiliated in any way. But our sin forfeits our right to honor and praise. Consider who we are: in ourselves, fully leprous in our souls and deserving of shame. But we crave praise, honor, and glory. Consider who Christ is: in himself, fully righteous and deserving of praise, honor, and worship. But he received shame and ridicule in every way. Jesus entered the world in poverty, then lived and died in the same (2 Cor. 8:9). Bernard of Clairveaux (1093-1153) once said, “By how much the viler he was made for me, by so much dearer he shall be to me.” Indeed. There are so many statements in God’s Word that would shock us if we actually thought deeply concerning what they communicate. Deep meditation upon a verse – paying attention to its context, of course – at times yield a great deal more fruit in our lives than reading several chapters of God’s Word in one setting. Conviction: Out of Step
by David de Bruyn
As we live with God in communion, his holy nature begins to identify ways that we displease him. We act in certain ways, think certain thoughts, or desire certain things that are offensive to our heavenly Indweller. In response, he does the work of conviction. God identifies something he wants us to confess to him so that we can keep enjoying the joy of communion. Sometimes this occurs through his Spirit’s whispered displeasure, and calls to confess. Sometimes this occurs through the sheer contrast between God and ourselves, when we encounter him. Either way, this is conviction.
Wisdom from Tyler Hawk, Celebrity Pastor
by Christopher Ames
Is your church stuffy? Many assume that mine is, primarily because I hang out with the Religious Affections crowd. I admit that in my weaker moments I worry about such things. What if nobody buys into my Hundred Year Plan? What if people are only singing the Psalms because they don’t want to offend my tender spirit?
Well, in those weaker moments, I furtively peruse the megaworks of megachurch megapastors. They megaknow what they are megatalking about when it comes to making a church worship service go bang.
If the Lord Marks Iniquity – R.C. Sproul: “The Psalmist asked the question: ‘If the Lord marks iniquity, who should stand?’ This query is obviously rhetorical. The only answer, indeed the obvious answer is no one.”

Islam: A Brief, Christian Critique – Saints and Sceptics
We’re more than a little concerned by Christian critiques which attempt to “expose” Islam as a religion of violence*. This leaves the question: what exactly is your problem with Islam, then? Why are you not Muslims? Or why do you not worship with Muslims? And our answer is “Islam does not have the way, the truth and the life!” We’re not foolish enough to believe that an entire religion can be defeated in one brief article. However, we think that the standard Muslim objections to Christianity are very weak; and we believe that Islam has to answer some very serious challenges from Christianity.
Needed: A Healthy Dose of Reality
by Bill Muehlenberg
Christians of all people should be realists. We should not be overly optimistic, nor should we be overly pessimistic – we should just be realistic. We should seek to look at the world as it really is – indeed, as God sees it. That of course is not always easy to do, must we must try to do this anyway.
There are millions of people who do not see the world accurately. And they get into all sorts of trouble as a result. It is incumbent upon all of us to see things as accurately and realistically as possible. We all know the importance of this when it comes to actual physical vision.

“Worthen finds this intellectual project of postwar evangelicalism largely to be a failure, and she explains why. It produced pseudo-intellectuals like Lindsay and Schaeffer. It fashioned a theological scheme of inerrancy that seemed primarily intended to police ecclesiastical boundaries. And, in the end, the movement’s constituents did not agree on much.”

We Confess A Holy Catholic Church
“According to Ignatius, the defining characteristic of catholicity, i.e., of truly universal Christianity is the presence of Christ. There’s little evidence that he conceived the office of overseer (επισκοπος) in monarchical or hierarchical terms. There’s no evidence of the supremacy of the pastor of the Roman congregation.”
Christian Lawyers And Doctors Need Not Apply
“This direct attack on Christian lawyers is meant to create a chilling effect in the legal profession. Lawyers who work for law firms seeking to do business with these corporations will hesitate, and perhaps even be barred from voicing their religious and moral beliefs, or for acting for religious clients in human rights cases dealing with these issues. It’s a scary time to be a Christian lawyer in Canada.”
Nakedness Equals Shame
“The motif of clothing and nakedness is at the heart of our understanding of redemption. Our own righteousness, we are told, is like rotten, filthy rags (Isa. 64:6). The only way any of us can stand in God’s presence is to be stripped of those rags and then clothed afresh in the garments of Christ’s righteousness.”

“With CrossFit-like enthusiasm, in 1 Timothy 4:7–8, Paul calls his son in the faith and other readers to the gym, and distinguishes useless workouts from useful ones. “Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” Two bold points emerge. First, real godliness rejects sham training programs. Second, real godliness requires rigorous workouts, real sweat, and uncompromising discipline.”
“Top Down” or “Grassroots” Ministry?
“Broader churches often tend to focus on “every member ministry”–while minimizing the need for robust pastoral ministry–while more stringently Reformed churches tend to focus on the primacy of pastoral ministry–to the minimizing of vibrant congregational life and ministry. Both approaches often appear to be overreactions to perceived deficiencies or abuses in the outworking of the opposite approach.”
Shrinking Job Descriptions in the Church
