40 Days to the Cross: Reflections from Great Thinkers (Week of Ash Wednesday: Thursday)

Thursday

Day 2: Did Jesus really rise from the dead?

Confession: Psalm 51:5–8

Behold, in iniquity I was born,

and in sin my mother conceived me.

Behold, you delight in truth in the inward parts,

and in the hidden parts you make me to know wisdom.

Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean.

Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me hear joy and gladness;

let the bones you have crushed rejoice.

Reading: Mark 8:34–9:1

And summoning the crowd together with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life on account of me and of the gospel will save it. For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? For what can a person give in exchange for his life? For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

And he said to them, “Truly I say to you, that there are some of those standing here who will never experience death until they see the kingdom of God having come with power.”

Reflection

Some are saying, Oh that the world was crucified to me and I to the world! Oh that my heart were as dead as a stone to the world and alive to Jesus! Do you truly wish it? Look, then, to the cross. Behold the amazing gift of love.… Sit down like Mary, and gaze upon a crucified Jesus. Then will the world become a dim and dying thing. When you gaze upon the sun, it makes everything else dark; when you taste honey, it makes everything else tasteless; so when your soul feeds on Jesus, it takes away the sweetness of all earthly things—praise, pleasure, and fleshly lusts all lose their sweetness. Keep a continued gaze. Run, looking unto Jesus. Look, till the way of salvation by Jesus fills up the whole horizon, so glorious and peace-speaking. Then will the world be crucified to you, and you unto the world.

Glorifying in the Cross

Response

Has the cross changed the desires of your heart? During the season of Lent, many choose to fast or refrain from certain practices. If you have done so, are you focusing your gaze upon the cross?[1]

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker reportedly launched a tag-team attack on President Barack Obama and 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney at a dinner in New York on Wednesday. “I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America,” Giuliani said, according to Politico. “He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.”

Are We Being Prepared To Believe That Extraterrestrials Seeded Life On Earth And That Jesus Was An Alien?

There are those who believe that life was first brought to Earth from far across the universe. In fact, this week there were headlines in news sources all over the world about how British scientists had discovered “evidence” that extraterrestrials may have seeded life on this planet. And as you will see later on in this article, some of the “most brilliant minds in science” have been promoting this theory for a long time. But now the support for an extraterrestrial origin for life on Earth seems to be reaching a crescendo. In addition to unprecedented scientific support, we are being constantly bombarded by messages in popular culture that our planet has been in contact with aliens in the past and that they are about to make contact again. This is a theme which we see in dozens of novels, television shows, movies and video games. So could it be possible that we are being “prepared” to believe that extraterrestrials seeded life on our planet? And as you will see below, there are even many that actually believe that Jesus was an alien. Yes, that probably sounds very strange, but there are some very important people that are actually convinced that this is true. (Read More…)

THE FOUNDATION

“I have long been settled in my own opinion that neither philosophy, nor religion, nor morality, nor wisdom, nor interest, will ever govern nations or parties, against their vanity, their pride, their resentment, or revenge, or their avarice, or ambition. Nothing but force and power and strength can restrain them.” –John Adams, Letter to Thomas Jefferson, 1787

TOP 5 RIGHT HOOKS

‘No Religion Is Responsible for Terrorism’

Speaking at the White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism, Barack Obama denied Islam’s influence in terrorism, though he started with a caveat of sorts: “Al-Qaida and ISIL and groups like it are desperate for legitimacy. They try to portray themselves as religious leaders — holy warriors in defense of Islam. That’s why ISIL presumes to declare itself the ‘Islamic State.’ … We must never accept the premise that they put forward, because it is a lie. … Al-Qaida and ISIL do draw, selectively, from the Islamic texts. They do depend upon the misperception around the world that they speak in some fashion for people of the Muslim faith, that Islam is somehow inherently violent, that there is some sort of clash of civilizations.” And then came the “but.” He continued, “Of course, the terrorists do not speak for over a billion Muslims who reject their hateful ideology. They no more represent Islam than any madman who kills innocents in the name of God represents Christianity or Judaism or Buddhism or Hinduism. No religion is responsible for terrorism. People are responsible for violence and terrorism.” And then he had the complete lack of self-awareness to say, “We can’t paper over problems, and we’re not going to solve this if we’re always just trying to be politically correct.” In fact, his foolish political correctness can better be described as blinding Islamophilia, and it’s dangerous. That’s why he launched into a lecture about working to bring jobs to Jihadistan. A parting question: Why does he excuse Islam for terrorism but insists guns are responsible for shootings?

Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer said Obama “sounds like a community organizer talking about outreach to aggrieved communities.”

VA Secretary Strait Up Lied About Wait Time Firings

When Veteran Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald first took his position, he said he was going to clean house after the wait-time scandal left veterans without care. He had a list, and he was going to fire 1,000 VA employees. In an interview over the weekend, McDonald claimed the VA fired 60 people who manipulated wait times. The Washington Post fact-checked his claim, however, and found that only eight VA employees were fired, including just one executive. The VA’s own spokesman James Hutton told Post, “Regarding the 60 figure, it is most accurate to say that ‘VA has proposed disciplinary action related to data manipulation or patient care against more than 60 employees nationwide.’ This takes into account the full range of accountability actions including admonishments, demotions, reprimands, and termination.” Because of the VA’s misleading report and its failure to speed up wait times, it has turned into a bureaucracy only concerned with keeping the bureaucracy in place — and it will lie to do so. It’s a good thing former Obama adviser David Axelrod says “there hasn’t been a major scandal” during Obama’s administration, or vets would really be in trouble.

Veterans Affairs Touts ‘I CARE’

The Obama administration continues to treat American veterans as more of a disgrace than as heroes. Despite the Department of Veterans Affairs being exposed for mistreating the very ones willing to sacrifice it all, the agency continues to sink deeper into controversy — even as administrators promise reform. And what better way to encourage changes than with a cute acronym? “The embattled Veterans Affairs Department … is reminding employees in a memo why they should care about their work,” says The Washington Times. “The document circulating among employees is titled the ‘I CARE Quick Reference’ sheet, and it spells out the desired core values of the VA: integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect and excellence. The memo says the VA is ‘a model of unrivaled excellence due to employees who are empowered, trusted by their leaders, and respected for their competence and dedication.'” No, really, that’s what it claims. According to one anonymous employee, “Management has made a mockery of it.” Concerned Veterans for America CEO Pete Hegseth added, “Adopting a catchy acronym and circulating a checklist is not enough. It’s easy to put on an ‘I CARE’ pin, but it doesn’t matter unless you actually demonstrate that care through your actions and the results you deliver.” But government doesn’t judge itself by standards, and that’s the problem. Thanks to ObamaCare, we’ll all experience just how much the government doesn’t care. More…

Holder’s Final Legacy: Civil Rights Charges for Ferguson

Attorney General Eric Holder needed some kind of retribution after the world watched Ferguson, Missouri, burn when the grand jury announced officer Darren Wilson would not be charged in the death of Michael Brown. The civil rights charges against the officer didn’t stick, either, so Holder hinted this week that the Department of Justice may prosecute the city’s police department for a culture of civil rights violations. A St. Louis nonprofit filed a federal lawsuit alleging Ferguson was keeping the coffers full by running something of a debtor’s prison, so DOJ prosecutors met with the lawyers on that case. In a statement, Ferguson Mayor James Knowles said, “We believe this lawsuit is disturbing because it contains allegations that are not based on objective facts.” But this is Holder’s last hurrah, and “objective facts” don’t matter. In the last few days before Loretta Lynch replaces Holder, he’s going to come down on the Ferguson Police Department as if it was a police force controlled by the KKK during Reconstruction. More…

Former NBA Star Lays Out Plan to Change Places Like Ferguson

When asked for his opinion on what happened in Ferguson, former NBA athlete Karl Malone told Huff Post Live that it’s time for black communities to stop bemoaning race issues. For real change, “The Mailman” said those communities need to work on self-improvement instead of playing the race card. “We need to look in our mirror ourselves,” he said, “stop waiting on someone to come march on our behalf, take ownership in our self, make our community better, and stop looking for a handout. Do something about it yourself that you can control. Stop using that excuse about race. I am sick and tired that every time you turn around, that’s what we dangle.” That kind of advice — the message of hard work — helped Malone deliver those 36,928 career points that landed him in the Basketball Hall of Fame, and it’s advice anyone can take to heart. RIGHT ANALYSIS

Courting the Gangland Vote

2014-02-13-b0335e8f.jpg

Attorney General Eric Holder has long pushed for restoring voting rights to convicted felons. A year ago, we explained his real motive: Votes for Democrats. Just recently, however, this issue — otherwise dead-on-arrival in the Republican-held Senate — gained renewed life with the revival by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) of the Civil Rights Voting Restoration Act. This is an unfortunate move by Paul, but we suspect the measure may simply be a play for votes, particularly minority votes, in anticipation of his potential presidential run.

Under the bill, after being free on probation for at least one year, felons convicted of nonviolent crimes would have the right to vote in federal elections. While at first blush this might seem like a reasonable bill — to restore those who’ve paid their debt to society back to “full status” — a closer examination of the issues reveals serious constitutional and practical flaws with this line of reasoning.

First, there’s that whole “constitutionality” thing: The bill itself is unconstitutional. It’s no secret the doctrine of federalism — the fundamental constitutional doctrine distributing political power between the federal government and the states — has been under attack since the founding of our Republic. It’s also no secret those attacks have accelerated over the course of the last hundred years. What apparently is a secret is the furtive means by which these attacks execute.

For example, by its very title Paul’s bill ostensibly restores “civil rights” by giving formerly disenfranchised felons the right to vote again. What’s not to like about that, right? How noble. The problem with this linguistic shell game is that, first, a convicted felon’s “right” to vote isn’t a right at all; and, second, the determination of the qualification of voters is a constitutionally secured right — that is, an actual right — belonging to the individual states.

While the so-called “Elections Clause” in Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution empowers Congress to alter the “times, places and manner of holding elections for senators and representatives,” nowhere does the Constitution authorize Congress to determine voter eligibility. That power belongs exclusively to the states, as a number of cases have borne out over the past two centuries, culminating with the landmark Supreme Court case, Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council of Arizona. In that case, the Court conclusively ruled that only states have the power to determine the qualifications of its federal voters. As the Court explained, the primary reason the Founders gave this power solely to the states is to take away the incentive and power for Congress to control its own electorate. Such a self-licking-ice-cream-cone would open the door to a host of corruptions and undermine the very framework of the Constitution itself.

If enacted, however, Paul’s federal bill would throw this state power under the constitutional bus and apply a one-size-fits-all diktat to take the decision out of states’ hands and give it to the federal government. Oh, did we also mention his bill effectively mandates that those convicted of treason, bribery, voter fraud, espionage and the like — all “non-violent” crimes, of course — must be allowed to vote? We can’t wait to see the kinds of levelheaded rules that bunch votes into law.

Beyond this fatal constitutional flaw, however, lies perhaps a greater, even more basic philosophical problem. The Fourteenth Amendment specifically provides that a state may deny individual citizens the right to vote “for participation in rebellion, or other crime.” The amendment’s implicit rationale is simple: Why should those unwilling to follow the law be permitted to make the law or vote for those who do? Further, who better to determine if a paroled felon (a.k.a. “would-be voter”) is more likely to continue to follow the law than the state in which the felon resides? According to the Justice Department, over two-thirds of felons released from prison are rearrested for a new crime within three years of release — that number spikes to over three-quarters within five years of release.

Is it unreasonable, then, that some states now mandate a “waiting period” to see whether ex-cons will remain in the majority of prison recidivists? Or that some states mandate an application process so that individual determinations of worthiness to regain the voting franchise can be made by states where the franchise is sought? All crimes — even felonies — are not equal. Numbers and frequencies of crimes impact this equation even further, of course, as does time. An individual who committed a crime three decades ago is likely a much better candidate to receive reinstated voting rights than one who was paroled a year ago for the same crime. Parsing through these case-by-case matters is best left to the states for the obvious reason that the states are closer to the issues and the people whose lives they impact.

Regardless of the debate on the merits as to whether the voting franchise should be reinstated to any particular class of paroled felons or to felons generally, any legislation passed by Congress that purports either to grant powers to the federal government that are constitutionally reserved by the states or to deny those same powers to the states themselves is both unconstitutional and foolish.

Trust, but Verify — Even Conservative PACs

2015-02-19-2145e41f.jpg

We’ve all seen the post-election map showing that, despite concentrations of blue, America remains overwhelmingly red. Why, then, don’t we see even more conservative candidates elected to office? If one recent report is to be believed, much of the blame lies at the feet of inefficient and, in some cases, downright dishonest faux conservative political action committees (PACs) that are capitalizing on Americans’ passion for Liberty but using funds for other purposes.

According to Right Wing News (RWN), scam conservative PACs have become “a wide scale problem that is unquestionably having an enormous negative impact on the conservative movement.” The article, by John Hawkins, cites a research report Hawkins commissioned that focuses on how several conservative PACs spend money, along with whether those PACs represent themselves accurately. According to the report, some PACs, such as Club for Growth, direct the bulk of their spending to electing conservatives — in Club for Growth’s case, 88%. Others, however, such as the National Draft Ben Carson for President Super PAC — which, incidentally, isn’t actually associated with Dr. Carson — spent nearly $13 million in 2014, but less than $600,000 went to candidates and none of it went to Carson. Therein lies the problem.

Hawkins writes that some PACs pay large amounts to vendors that, curiously, are owned by individuals working for the PAC. While this practice is not necessarily bad, it opens the door to shifting funds in a way that keeps donors in the dark and avoids FEC reporting requirements. Additionally, some PACs use money for things like research, media and volunteer organization not directly tied to candidates.

After highlighting several good — and several supposedly questionable — PACs, RWN alleges that “perhaps the biggest reason grassroots candidates have been having trouble breaking through in recent years is because such a large percentage of the money that was intended for them is being siphoned off to vendors, wasted, and just plain old pocketed by people in these PACs.”

(As a note, The Patriot Post is not a PAC, nor do we raise funds for political candidates. All donations support our operations and mission — fanning the flame of Essential Liberty.)

Is the moral of the story, then, that Americans should throw their hands up (while keeping their money in their pockets) and not support conservative PACs? Far from it.

As Red State’s Erick Erickson notes in an interesting counterpoint, while the RWN report highlights some important things, it also misses several. For example, several of the PACs which RWN lumps in with scam PACs are those that have legitimately not only helped elect candidates but also helped conservative candidates stand up to Establishment Republicans.

Take for example the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF). Erickson says while RWN claims this PAC spent only 22% on candidates, in reality, it spent more than 70% on candidates and issue advocacy. Part of the discrepancy is that RWN’s report leaves out $4.7 million that SCF raised and gave directly to candidates and more than $2.5 million that SCF’s super PAC expended on behalf of those candidates. Additionally, Erickson notes that RWN counts $3.5 million SCF spent as “wasted” on overhead costs, when in reality it was spent on issue ads. RWN addresses some of these discrepancies in a footnote, but not every one reads footnotes.

Erickson wonders, “If the Right Wing News report missed all these facts about SCF, including by subjectively deciding its commercials promote itself more than its cause, what else did it miss?”

So what’s a conservative to do? Simply, our first goal should always remain standing up for First Principles and Essential Liberty. And the more we can thoughtfully work together to do so and to elect conservative candidates who will do so, the better. That said, just as with contributing to charities, it’s always wise to research organizations and evaluate how they use donated funds, as well as whether they represent themselves accurately. In other words, read the fine print — and we don’t mean the print in publications like Mother Jones and Politico that will latch onto any anti-conservative story, real or imagined, and cry foul.

When all is said and done, the reality remains that solid conservative candidates benefit greatly from the help of solid, conservative and well-managed PACs that honor donor intent and invest in advancing Liberty. And these types of organizations are worth our contributions.

TOP 5 RIGHT OPINION COLUMNS

OPINION IN BRIEF

Mark Twain (1835-1910): “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.”

Columnist Michael Reagan: “How did Marie Harf — the deputy spokesperson for the State Department’s Bureau of Public Affairs — get her job? … Appearing on MSNBC’s ‘Hardball with Chris Matthews,’ Harf said the best way to fight Islamic terrorism is not with guns and bombs but with job programs. … Harf was being dumb, but she was completely serious. … Instead of beheading or incinerating innocent people merely for being Jewish or Christian, they could flip burgers at the Baghdad McDonalds, work on an Exxon oil rig or become a community organizer in Mosul. … But at least she used the correct term ‘Islamic extremism’ to describe what ISIS and its terrorist soldiers are practicing and what we are fighting against. Obama’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge that reality is perverse. … Attorney General Eric Holder thinks it doesn’t matter whether his boss calls terrorists ‘vicious, violent zealots,’ which Obama has said, or ‘radical Islamist terrorists,’ which he won’t say. Holder knocked Fox News Tuesday for its crusade to get Obama to use the accurate term, saying that the president’s military deeds speak louder — and are more important — than his words. … The crazy thing is, this administration actually uses tougher language on Fox News than it does on radical Islam.”

Historian Victor Davis Hanson: “Putin, the Islamic State and Iran at first glance have as little in common as did Germany, Italy and Japan. But like the old Axis, they are all authoritarians that share a desire to attack their neighbors. And they all hate the West. The grandchildren of those who appeased the dictators of the 1930s once again prefer in the short-term to turn a blind eye to the current fascists. And the grandchildren of the survivors of the Holocaust once again get blamed. The 1930s should have taught us that aggressive autocrats do not have to like each other to share hatred of the West. The 1930s should have demonstrated to us that old-time American isolationism and the same old European appeasement will not prevent but only guarantee a war. And the 1930s should have reminded us that Jews are usually among the first — but not the last — to be targeted by terrorists, thugs and autocrats.”

Ann Coulter: “Last week, an Associated Press-Gfk poll showed that Obama’s single most unpopular policy is his position on illegal immigration. In other words, Obamacare is more popular than amnesty. That’s like losing a popularity contest to Ted Bundy.”

Alexis Tsipras Quickly Forms Unexpected Alliance Between Greece And Russia

Posted: 19 Feb 2015 06:59 AM PST

Alexis Tsipras Quickly Forms Unexpected Alliance Between Greece And RussiaALEXIS TSIPRAS COMES CHARGING OUT OF THE GATE BY FORMING ALLIANCE WITH RUSSIA.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Last week, NTEB released the ground-breaking story on the new Prime Minister of Greece, Alexis Tsipras, and we showed you the ASTONISHING connections between him and prophecies related to the Antichrist. So you just might want to know that his first official act is to form an alliance with…RUSSIA.

To those who have followed the EU, this is surprising and disturbing. He seems to be arrogantly distancing himself from the historical platform of the EU. Of course, Russia is not a member of this institution. Russian considers the EU to be an arch enemy, especially with sanctions being implemented against them by the EU.

Business Insider reports today that “Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras has blasted European economic sanction on Russia over the Ukraine crisis. The left-wing firebrand accused Brussels of hypocrisy over the sanctions, saying it was unfair not to pursue Russian oligarchs with money invested overseas.

“If you want to punish Russia, you need to punish all the countries where Russian multi-billionaires have invested their assets,” Tsipras told German magazine Stern.

Even before his victory in Greece, Alexis Tsipras was warming up to Putin of Russia, and at the same time he was creating tension between Greece and the EU. On January 27th, his party spoke in Brussels about easing off sanctions against Russia. Greece has been a member of the EU since its inception, but the EU has always considered Russia to be a staunch enemy.

Of course, the sanctions against Russia came after their invasion in Ukraine.

Back in May of 2014, Tsipras said:

“We should not accept and recognize the government of Neo-Nazis in Ukraine.” source
I have never read that the government of Ukraine has Neo-Nazis. Sounds like Putin provided the narrative from Mr. Tsipras.

“The Russian leader’s top foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said that Putin congratulated Tsipras on his victory in last month’s general elections and on the assumption of his duties as the new prime minister of Greece.

“The discussion was very warm and constructive, he said, noting that President Putin invited Tsipras to Russia. He also said that the will for a more active development of bilateral relations was reaffirmed.” source

This has troubled many nations of the EU, especially in light of the fact that Tsipras has arrogantly inferred that Greece really doesn’t need the EU Commission. Since his victory, he has suggested that perhaps Greece does not need the outdated EU, which he considers the worst offenders of “Austerity” which is the mantra of his newly elected party.

“Relations between Russia and the new government in Greece continue to warm.” source
Doesn’t that sound like something out of the mouth of Putin? Nothing good can come with the alliance of Greece and Russia. FULL STORY

Britain scrambles warplanes to intercept Russian bombers off CornwallPosted: 19 Feb 2015 06:53 AM PST

Britain scrambles warplanes to intercept Russian bombers off CornwallBREAKING NEWS – The British Royal Air Force scrambled warplanes to intercept two Russian bombers off the coast of Cornwall in southwest England, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday, as a government minister sounded alarms about the Kremlin’s intentions elsewhere in Europe. The episode magnified concerns about the possibility of further moves by President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia that could draw in the NATO alliance after advances by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. Typhoon warplanes took off from an air base in eastern England and escorted the two Russian airplanes in international airspace “until they were out of the U.K. area of interest,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement. The encounter happened on Wednesday. “At no time did the Russian military aircraft cross into U.K. sovereign airspace,” the statement said. During the Cold War, Russian bombers routinely tested Western defenses by flying toward the coast, and there have been reports that the practice has been resumed as tensions have mounted over the conflict in Ukraine.

The number of intercepts of Russian military aircraft approaching Western airspace has tripled compared with 2013, British researchers said in November, citing NATO officials. “I suspect what’s happening here is that the Russians are trying to make some sort of a point,” Prime Minister David Cameron said during a visit to eastern England, “and I don’t think we should dignify it with too much of a response.” The Russian flights came as Britain’s defense minister, Michael Fallon, said that Mr. Putin could replicate the tactics used in Ukraine on the Baltic States — Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, former Soviet bloc countries that are now members of NATO.

“NATO has to be ready for any kind of aggression from Russia, whatever form it takes. NATO is getting ready,” Mr. Fallon said, adding that he was worried about Mr. Putin exerting “pressure on the Baltics, the way he is testing NATO.” “You have tanks and armor rolling across the Ukrainian border and you have an Estonian border guard being captured and not yet still returned,” Mr. Fallon told reporters from The Times of London and The Daily Telegraph traveling with him on a visit to Sierra Leone. Mr. Fallon also recalled an earlier intercept over the English Channel between Britain and France.

Mr. Putin “flew two Russian bombers down the English Channel two weeks ago.” “We had to scramble jets very quickly to see them off,” Mr. Fallon continued. “It’s the first time since the height of the Cold War, it’s the first time that’s happened.” “That just shows you, you need to respond, each time he does something like that, you need to be ready to respond,” he said. “When you have jets being flown up the English Channel, when you have submarines in the North Sea, it looks to me like it’s warming up,” he said.

Mr. Fallon described Mr. Putin’s strategy as “a very real and present danger.” “He was testing NATO all last year, if you look at the number of flights and the maritime activity,” he continued. Mr. Fallon was also said to have asserted that Mr. Putin “is as great a threat to Europe as Islamic State,” a reference to militants fighting to establish a caliphate in Iraq and Syria. In Moscow, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Russia would seek a way to respond to Mr. Fallon’s “absolutely unacceptable” remarks, which had gone beyond “diplomatic ethics,” Reuters reported. After the earlier flights over the English Channel, the British government summoned the Russian ambassador to demand an explanation.

Russian military planes flying near British airspace caused “disruption to civil aviation,” the British Foreign Office said at the time, calling the maneuvers “part of an increasing pattern of out-of-area operations” by Russia. Dismissing Britain’s concerns, the Russian ambassador said the patrols were routine. New York Times

Coldest Temps Since Late-1800s in EastPosted: 19 Feb 2015 06:48 AM PST

Coldest Temps Since Late-1800s in EastOld Man Winter will be unrelenting across the Midwest and Northeast this week as yet another blast of arctic air rolls in and spreads deep into the South. This next push of arctic air is expected to bring air that is just as cold, or even colder than the air that brought subzero lows to the Midwest and Northeast during the weekend. Millions will shiver from Chicago to New York City as record lows are challenged during this bitter blast. Records may also fall across parts of the South where temperatures manage to fall into the teens and single digits. Some southern cities forecast to dip into the teens or lower include Birmingham, Alabama; Charlotte, North Carolina; Columbia, South Carolina; Nashville and Atlanta. Floridians will even experience a taste of the arctic chill with temperatures dipping down to the lower 30s in cities such as Orlando, Melbourne and Daytona Beach. The worst of the cold is expected to focus over the East for Thursday into Friday. In the mid-Atlantic, some daily record lows set during the late-1800s will be challenged. AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures below 0 F will be common across the regions during the daytime hours, including cities along the Interstate 95 corridor. These values can then drop by as much as 20 degrees during the overnight hours, making for a bitterly cold morning commute. MORE

Birth certificates ask parents if ‘woman giving birth’ is femalePosted: 19 Feb 2015 06:38 AM PST

Birth certificates ask parents if ‘woman giving birth’ is female No, that’s not a typo. A city Health Department form for new parents requesting birth certificates asks the “woman giving birth” if she’s male or female. Along with routine questions — mother’s maiden name, mother’s legal name, mother’s Social Security number — is a gender question that has raised a few eyebrows. And just in case the inquiry is not clear, the birth-certificate request provides a convenient check box and asks the question in capital letters. “What is your DATE OF BIRTH, current AGE and SEX?” the form asks in the section clearly marked “Mother/Parent (Woman Giving Birth).”

“To be clear, it is possible for a person who has given birth to a child to identify as male,” said Susan Sommer, a lawyer for Lambda Legal, an advocacy group for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people. Sommer said that given various transgender stages, there is room for the person who gives birth to check the male box. Not to leave the father out, the form asks dads the same question and gives them the same check-box options. Only there’s no “giving birth” notation in that section.

While the “sex” question might baffle some new parents, experts said the birth certificate form was created several years ago and was born out of the marriage equality movement. Until a change in the form was made, married gay and lesbian couples had to go to court to secure their names on birth certificates, a legal hurdle that blocked parental rights that most people took for granted. Then-Gov. David Paterson allowed for the change in 2008 across the state everywhere but in New York City, which keeps its own vital statistics and sets its own rules for them.

City officials reviewed their policy and made a similar change in 2009. “A form that is respectful and doesn’t make assumptions about sex or gender of people parenting children is fine to me,” Sommer said. A DOH spokesman was unavailable for comment. Advocates encourage same-sex couples to adopt because doing so gives them extra legal protection. But the birth-certificate provision can clarify parental rights in situations ranging from a hospital nursery to a school registrar’s office, Sommer said. New York Post

U.S. deploys new combat ship in naval drills, North Korea threatening nuclear retaliationPosted: 19 Feb 2015 06:29 AM PST

U.S. deploys new combat ship in naval drills, North Korea threatening nuclear retaliation The U.S. Navy will send its new combat ship tailored for Asia’s shallow coastal waters to join military drills with South Korea that North Korea calls a prelude for invasion.

Carrying a helicopter, a vertical takeoff unmanned aerial vehicle, a 57 millimeter gun and 21 missiles, the USS Fort Worth will become the first Littoral Combat Ship to take part in the annual Foal Eagle exercises starting next month off the coast of South Korea.

“The specific role that Fort Worth will play in Foal Eagle is really no different than any other Navy ship has for years,” Rear Admiral Charles Williams told reporters Tuesday in Singapore on board Fort Worth. “Fort Worth’s role will be just a normal part of that exercise,” said Williams, who is Logistics Group Western Pacific Commander.

The 389 foot LCS — the second to have been deployed to the region — will operate in Asia for 16 months, primarily in Southeast Asia, within the 7th Fleet grouping. In North Asia the ship will make port visits in Japan, a U.S. ally immersed in a territorial spat with China, and Admiral Williams said the LCS could also operate in South Asia. We are able to operate a bit closer to shore and we do have more speed than some of the other ships. It’s just something we’re going to be actually exploring during the exercise

North Korea demands the U.S. and South Korea end the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle exercises held early each year in order to improve ties on the peninsula. The regime calls the drills preparations for war and routinely threatens to retaliate with nuclear force if its territory is violated during the exercises that the U.S. and South Korea say are defensive in nature.

Fort Worth’s commanding officer Matthew Kawas said he could not comment on whether the ship’s presence could risk inflaming tensions with North Korea. “We are looking to normalize having an LCS out here and send the LCS all over to start participating in exercises and make it more routine,” Commander Kawas said.

“We are able to operate a bit closer to shore and we do have more speed than some of the other ships,” Kawas said. “It’s just something we’re going to be actually exploring during the exercise and see what additional features we can bring.”

North Korea’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said in a statement carried by the state-run Rodong Sinmun on Feb. 12 that South Korea was raising tensions to an “extreme level” by planning the drills with the U.S. It said North Korea would use its “small, precise and diversified” nuclear arms in a “decisive battle” on the U.S. mainland. Spike in sick and dying bats ‘sparks concern’ in Broome, AustraliaPosted: 18 Feb 2015 07:58 PM PST

Spike in sick and dying bats 'sparks concern' in Broome, AustraliaA spike in cases of a deadly bat virus in some parts of Australia’s north has sparked concern, with dying animals being found in the streets close to schools and childcare centres. Australian bat lyssavirus is similar to rabies, causing a rapid death if passed from an animal to a human. In recent months, it has been detected in 11 bats in the West Australian town of Broome in the Kimberley region. Prior to that, there had been only two cases identified in Western Australia in a decade. There has also been an increase in sick bats being found in Queensland. Senior Public Health nurse Ashley Eastwood is based in Broome and has been monitoring the numbers. “In 2014, we became aware that something was happening in the bat colony with these cases popping up,” she said. “We don’t know exactly what’s caused it. “There are investigations going on through the Department of Parks and Wildlife, and the Department of Agriculture, wondering what’s actually going on in the colony. “There’s been speculation perhaps lots of fires around last year, there’s a particularly hot season, and that could be disturbing that colony.” Human infections occurred in Australia in 1996, 1998, and 2013 and proved fatal in all three cases. Of concern is also the fact that several of the dying bats had been located right in the middle of ‘Old Broome’, on thoroughfares used by children to get to school each day. Ms Eastwood said the Health Department was running an education campaign targeting local schools. “We have ‘children and bats’ posters and flyers in schools, just providing children with some education around bats,” she said “It’s saying to children that if you find an injured or orphaned flying bat or dead bat, not to handle it, but to let an adult know who will notify parks and wildlife, or a wildlife carer.” People are being urged not to touch a bat they find sick or injured on the ground and try to avoid being swooped. If someone is scratched or bitten, they are advised to wash the wound thoroughly for at least five minutes with warm soapy water, and seek medical attention immediately. MORE

Hundreds of fish ‘suddenly die’ in Georges River, ‘reason unknown’ in AustraliaPosted: 18 Feb 2015 07:53 PM PST

Hundreds of fish 'suddenly die' in Georges River, 'reason unknown' in AustraliaHundreds  of fish were found floating belly-up in the Georges River at Moorebank on Saturday but the culprit remains a mystery. A fisherman called the Environmental Protection Authority after noticing the river surface was clogged with dead fish, leading to a snap investigation of the site. There have been suggestions a chemical spill caused the fish deaths but authorities are still unsure as to what happened.  An EPA spokeswoman said early tests of the water found the pH, conductivity and oxygen levels were normal. Liverpool Council was notified and, due to the enormity of the task, emergency services were called in to help clean up.  St Andrews Fire Station duty commander Rob Jansen said four boats were required to set up boom nets and collect the dead fish over the weekend. Carp, bass, mullet, yellow bellies and eels were all found floating in the river. “We have absolutely no idea what caused it, it depends on the findings of the EPA,” Mr Jansen said. “The full set of test results are due back to the EPA in the next couple of days and this should give us an idea of the type of pollution present, whether there is pesticide or metals impacting fish, for example,” the EPA spokeswoman said. NASA satellites reveal Tropical Cyclone Lam strengtheningPosted: 18 Feb 2015 07:45 PM PST

NASA satellites reveal Tropical Cyclone Lam strengtheningNASA’s Aqua satellite saw powerful, cold, high thunderstorms circling the center of strengthening Tropical Cyclone Lam as it appeared to cover most of the northern half of Australia’s Gulf of Carpentaria.  On Feb. 17 at 04:47 UTC, when NASA’s Aqua satellite passed over Lam, the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) aboard captured infrared data on the storm. The infrared data measured temperatures of the cloud tops in the system. That data was made into an image at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California and false-colored to highlight temperatures. AIRS identified a large area of strong thunderstorms circling the center of the storm. Those thunderstorms stretched high in the troposphere and AIRS data showed they had cloud top temperatures near -63F/-53C. NASA research indicates that storms with cloud tops that cold and high have the potential for dropping heavy rainfall. The image also showed that Tropical Cyclone Lam extended almost entirely over the northern part of the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Gulf of Carpentaria is bordered on three sides by northern Australia. It is a large, shallow sea with the Northern Territory to the west and southwest, and Queensland to the east and southeast. To the north of the gulf lies the Arafura Sea. On Feb. 18 at 01:05 UTC the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument aboard NASA’s Terra satellite took a visible picture of Tropical Cyclone Lam. Lam was approaching the northeastern peninsula of the Northern Territory. The bulk of the clouds and showers associated with Lam were over the northern Gulf of Carpentaria and a band of thunderstorms stretched southeast from the center, draping over the northeastern part of the Gulf. Why Obama Refuses to Call it ‘Islamic Terrorism’Posted: 18 Feb 2015 07:21 PM PST

Why Obama Refuses to Call it 'Islamic Terrorism' The Obama administration’s refusal to use the term “Islamic terrorism” has provoked widespread condemnation, but it fits perfectly with the federal government’s past approach to the war on terror, which has been to elevate the importance domestic extremism over the threat posed by Islamic terror. In planning this week’s summit on ‘combating violent extremists’ the White House “has consistently avoided naming Islamic extremism as its central focus,” reports CNN, despite two deadly attacks carried out in the name of Islam in Paris and Copenhagen in just the last two months alone. The New York Post’s Michael Goodwin sums up the controversy, noting that even liberal media outlets are comfortable with referring to Islamic terrorism on a routine basis.  “This is nuts. Although the Islamic State, al Qaeda, Boko Haram and the Taliban cite Islam as the basis of their death cults, Obama argues that their acts are contrary to Islam, and therefore, refuses to associate them with Islam,” writes Goodwin. Alien star system buzzed the Sun 70,000 Years AgoPosted: 18 Feb 2015 07:12 PM PST

Alien star system buzzed the Sun 70,000 Years AgoAn alien star passed through our Solar System just 70,000 years ago, astronomers have discovered. No other star is known to have approached this close to us. An international team of researchers says it came five times closer than our current nearest neighbour – Proxima Centauri. The object, a red dwarf known as Scholz’s star, cruised through the outer reaches of the Solar System – a region known as the Oort Cloud. Scholz’s star was not alone; it was accompanied on its travels by an object known as a brown dwarf. These are essentially failed stars that lacked the necessary mass to get fusion going in their cores. The findings are published in Astrophysical Journal Letters. Observations of the dim star’s trajectory suggest that 70,000 years ago this cosmic infiltrator passed within 0.8 light years of the Sun. By comparison, Proxima Centauri is 4.2 light years away. Close encounter In the paper, astronomers led by Eric Mamajek at the University of Rochester, New York, say they are 98% certain that Scholz’s star travelled through what is known as the “outer Oort Cloud” – a region at the edge of the Solar System filled with trillions of comets a mile or more across. This region is like a spherical shell around the Solar System and may extend out to as much as 100,000 Astronomical Units, or AU (one AU is the distance between the Earth and the Sun). The Oort Cloud is thought to give rise to long-period comets that can swing past the Sun when their orbits are disturbed. To determine the trajectory of the star, the researchers needed two pieces of information: the change in distance from the Sun to the star (its radial velocity) and the star’s motion across the sky (its tangential velocity). Scholz’s star currently lies 20 light years away – making it a fairly nearby system. But it showed very slow tangential motion for a star this close. This indicated that it was either moving away from us or towards a future close encounter with the Solar System. The radial velocity measurements confirmed that the binary star system was actually speeding away from us. By tracing its movements back in time, they found its close shave with the Sun occurred some 70,000 years ago. MORE

Obama’s ‘Terror Summit’ Is Nothing More Than Islamic Public Relations Fest

The Obama administration has issued an open rebuke to the nation of Egypt for their attack on ISIS

This week in Washington, DC, Barack Obama in convening his Summit on Countering Violent Extremism at the White House. It will discuss the worldwide threat posed by violent extremists, but what it will not do is to connect “violent extremism” with Islam in any way, shape or form.

President Barack Obama and his staff have gone to lengths to avoid characterizing the ideology driving Islamic State and other terrorist groups as religious extremism. The semantic exercise is intended to avoid legitimizing acts of terror as expressions of religious belief. It’s also part of a strategy to draw in the domestic Muslim leaders who Obama is leaning on to identify and isolate potentially violent extremists.

“For us, terminology is very, very important,” said Riham Osman, spokeswoman for the Muslim Public Affairs Council, one of the groups participating in the three-day conference. “Using words like ‘radical Islam,’ we believe is actually hurting the cause.”

“The words ‘radical Islamic terrorism’ do not come out of the president’s mouth,” Senator Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican, said at the Center for Security Policy last week. “That is dangerous.”

Obama slams Egypt for attacking ISIS

The Obama administration issued an open rebuke to the nation of Egypt for their attack on ISIS just hours after the gruesome beheading deaths of 21 Christians.

The United States does not support Egyptian and Emirati airstrikes against Islamist militias in Libya because the U.S. believes the crisis in Libya must be resolved politically and without outside interference, a Department of Defense spokesman said Tuesday.

Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrying out airstrikes in Libya was different from U.S. airstrikes against Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant forces in Iraq, Pentagon spokesman Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby told a briefing, because the U.S. was acting in Iraq, in a “very targeted” manner, at the request of its government.

The Religion Of Peace website reports that since 9/11, Islamic terrorists have carried out more than 25,139 deadly terror attacks in the name of Allah and Islam. More than any other single group of terrorists anywhere at any time.

LGBT Marriage Redefiners Introduce The Throuple, A 3 Woman ‘Marriage’

When State after State legalized gay marriage, it wasn’t difficult to discern that the “slippery slope” syndrome was soon to happen. It did.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20 (KJV)

What is the next marriage redefinition? It’s called a ‘throuple’, and in Massachusetts, a lesbian throuple is awaiting their first born child. Three married lesbians are the throuple who have made news with their newest ‘version of perversion’ of marriage.

They don’t have to announce their arrangement in a defiant way. Oh, heavens no…..when Biblical marriage was redefined from “between one man and one woman” to a union of two people (even of the same sex) that opened wide the door to most anything. Political correctness reigns in America. It seems that now it’s become an “in your face” to Bible believing Christians.

doll-brynn-kitten-lesbian-throuple-raising-a-baby-marriage-redefinition-same-sex-lgbt

Like the gay rights movement, the Massachusetts throuple hopes to strike a blow for polyamorous “rights.” [1] – source

“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Romans 1: 25-27 (KJV)

I fully expect these people to begin to demand their rights and protections, likening them selves to the Civil Rights movement.  These sexual perversions are not even in the same ball park as the much needed reforms for American Blacks in the 1960s.

“The announcement is the culmination of the notion that marriage has an infinitely elastic definition, according to Robert P. George, the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University.

“Ideas have consequences,” George said. Once society rejects the notion of marriage as a conjugal union “with its central structuring norm of sexual complementarity in favor of a concept” that “’love makes a family,’ then what possible principled basis could be identified for a norm ‘restricting’ marriage to two-person partnerships, as opposed to polyamorous sexual ensembles of three or more persons?”

He added that more than 300 ‘LGBT’ scholars and allies, including Gloria Steinem and Barbara Ehrenreich, “have bitten the bullet and said that there is no reason not to further re-shape ‘marriage’ to include multiple partner unions” by signing the “Beyond Same-Sex Marriage” manifesto.” [1] – source

From BeyondMarriage.org:

We, the undersigned – lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) and allied activists, scholars, educators, writers, artists, lawyers, journalists, and community organizers – seek to offer friends and colleagues everywhere a new vision for securing governmental and private institutional recognition of diverse kinds of partnerships, households, kinship relationships and families.  In so doing, we hope to move beyond the narrow confines of marriage politics as they exist in the United States today.

We seek access to a flexible set of economic benefits and options regardless of sexual orientation, race, gender/gender identity, class, or citizenship status.

We reflect and honor the diverse ways in which people find and practice love, form relationships, create communities and networks of caring and support, establish households, bring families into being, and build innovative structures to support and sustain community.

In offering this vision, we declare ourselves to be part of an interdependent, global community. We stand with people of every racial, gender and sexual identity, in the United States and throughout the world, who are working day-to-day – often in harsh political and economic circumstances – to resist the structural violence of poverty, racism, misogyny, war, and repression, and to build an unshakable foundation of social and economic justice for all, from which authentic peace and recognition of global human rights can at long last emerge. source

I might add here that women like Gloria Steinem brought Feminism into our culture, and it seems that there has been an obvious correlation between Steinem’s Feminism and the eventually break up of the America family – one mom, one dad and children. Steinem felt that the “dad” part was piece of the family puzzle which was not just expendable, but undesirable. She and her movement brought such confusion to men – they didn’t even know how to act anymore. Yes, chivalry died in those years. Men were afraid to hold a door open for a woman, lest they be ridiculed.

What’s next? Pedophilia made legal, calling it “Child sexual love?” Or perhaps bestiality? Or better yet, maybe “Throuple/bestiality – of course they don’t want to discriminated against the family pet, right??

I never thought I’d live to see this day in America. It seems like a very bad dream, but the problem is that I wake up each day, and it’s still there.

Why should God not destroy America?

I think that will happen. But I also think that those of us who are strong enough in the Lord will begin to be thrown in jail, because we refuse to condone these aberrant practices. We will be labeled as “haters” and will pay the price.

Will YOU stand against these most ungodly practices when the time comes? Ask God for His strength in the coming days and months.

MARANATHA!

Catholic Gay Rights Group Gets VIP Treatment At Vatican For First Time, Cites ‘Francis Effect’

“This is a sign of movement that’s due to the Francis effect,” said Sister Jeannine Gramick

“And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Revelation 17:5 (KJV)

Pope Francis has caused so much radical change in such a short period of time that his fawning admirers have given it a name, they call it the “Francis Effect”. This effect is bringing sweeping winds of change to the Catholic Church. Francis is opening up the One World Religion tent, and all the end times animals are coming in.

VATICAN CITY – A prominent American Catholic gay rights group was given VIP treatment for the first time at an audience with Pope Francis on Wednesday, a move members saw as a sign of change in the Roman Catholic Church.

“This is a sign of movement that’s due to the Francis effect,” said Sister Jeannine Gramick, co-founder of New Ways Ministry, which ministers to homosexual Catholics and promotes gay rights in the 1.2 billion-member Church.

Gramick and executive director Francis DeBernardo led a pilgrimage of 50 homosexual Catholics to the audience in St. Peter’s Square.

They told Reuters in an interview afterwards that when the group came to Rome on Catholic pilgrimages during the papacies of Francis’s predecessors John Paul and Benedict, “they just ignored us”.

This time, a U.S. bishop and a top Vatican official backed their request and they sat in a front section with dignitaries and special Catholic groups. As the pope passed, they sang “All Are Welcome,” a hymn symbolizing their desire for a more inclusive Church. source- Yahoo News

The Noose Of Persecution Against Christians Who Reject Same-Sex Marriage Is Tightening

“A government that tells you what you can’t say is bad enough, but a government that tell you what you must say is terrifying.”

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, ‘The servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” John15:18-20 (KJV)

Washington State Benton County Superior Court Judge, Alex Ekstrom, has issued a summary judgment in the case against a Christian florist whose faith prevented her from providing service for a same-sex couple’s wedding. The case was set to go to trial in March, but the judge’s judgment serves as the final word. Basically, he has authorized the “personal ruin” of Barronelle Stutzman.

This ruling makes her personally liable for the claims against her, which places not only her business assets at risk but also her home and personal savings as well! World Net Daily reports that this reprobate judge ordered that the state as well as the sodomite plaintiffs, each of whom filed lawsuits, could collect damages and attorney’s fees from Stutzman.

Senior Counsel Kristen Waggoner, with the Alliance Defending Freedom stated, “The message of these rulings is unmistakable: The government will bring about your personal and professional ruin if you don’t help celebrate same-sex marriage.”

She reports the two men had plenty of other options in the marketplace, and even received offers of free flowers from other vendors. However, this wasn’t good enough for either Groom because Robert Ingersoll and his partner Curt Freed, sued Stutzman for politely refusing to engage in a business transaction that interfered with her faith.

washington-judge-rules-against-barronelle-stuzman-same-sex-marriage-florist

Ironically, Ingersoll had bought flowers for his lover from Ms. Stutzman for years, and she was well aware they were a gay couple. The problem only surfaced when he asked her to arrange the flowers for their wedding. According to her deposition, she put her hands over his, and told him that she couldn’t “because of my relationship with Jesus Christ,” and because of her belief that marriage should only be between the opposite sex.

The State Attorney General, Bob Ferguson, also sued based on details he learned in the news. According to arguments in the case, the state of Washington apparently believes the state’s statutory protections for sodomites trump the Constitution’s protection of religious liberty, even though the flower corporation was set up under a state law that protects personal assets except in cases of deception, theft or knowing fraud. None of these circumstances occurred in this case.

The defendant, Ms. Stutzman, said, “America would be a better place if citizens respected each other’s differences and the government still protected the freedom to have those differences. Instead, the government is coming after me and everything I have just because I won’t live my life the way the state says I should.”

She continues, “I just want the freedom to live and work faithfully and according to what God says about marriage without fear of punishment. Others have the freedom to say or not say what they want to about marriage and that’s all I’m asking for as well.”

Attorney Waggoner stated, “A government that tells you what you can’t say is bad enough, but a government that tell you what you must say is terrifying. The lesson from the court’s decisions is that you put your home, your family business, and your life savings at risk by daring to defy a government mandate that forces you to promote views you believe are wrong.”

Unfortunately, Judge Ekstrom’s summary judgment means he gets to decide the case one way or another without having witnesses testify or a jury trial. How convenient for the plaintiffs. Here’s the question of the day…

Why do you never hear of these homosexual couples demanding wedding cakes or flower arrangements from MUSLIM business owners? Hmmmm?

I propose someone set up a PayPal account for this sister in Christ, so donations can be made to help cover her court costs and the possible loss of her entire livelihood and home. I will be happy to donate the first $100.00 if someone will do that!

In the meantime, should anyone feel the need to express their opinion to the court, you can reach the judge at: alex.ekstrom@co.benton.wa.us office: 509.736.3071 fax: 509.736.3057

Son Of Hamas Mosab Yousef Reveals The Shocking 5 True Pillars Of Islam

Choose Islam, and you choose ISIS, because they are indistinguishable. Reject ISIS, and you reject Islam, because they are one.

“And he (Ishmael) will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.” Genesis 16:12 (KJV)

Four years ago, I had the distinct privilege of meeting Mosab Hassan Yousef, AKA Son of Hamas. He came to America from Israel and Ramallah (his home) to escape persecution by his own people. My husband and I were invited by him to a dinner on Capitol Hill to honor him, given by EMET (Endowment for Middle East Truth) a Jewish organization.

Mosab was a typical Muslim who grew up in the town of Ramallah in the West Bank. Mosab wrote a thrilling book called “Son of Hamas” about being the son of then leader of Hamas, Sheikh Hassan Yousef.

son-of-hamas-mosab-hassan-yousef-reveals-5-true-pillars-of-islam

He had seen enough fighting and death, and knew that much of it was provoked by the Muslims. He also converted from Islam to Christianity. If you have not read his book, I highly recommend it.

Today, Mosab updated his Son of Hamas blog:

Wherever I go in the world, people ask me about ISIS. And I advise them to ignore the endless debates about the peaceful versus violent nature of Islam and take a long, hard look at the Islamic State. ISIS is Islam, exposed in all its cruelty and ugliness, unchanged since Muhammad.

The atrocities committed by ISIS are merely an extension of the atrocities committed by Islam’s prophet.

The true Five Pillars of Islam are: Slaughter, Intolerance, Oppression, Hatred, and Global Dominion, because Muhammad was a slaughterer, intolerant, oppressive, hateful, and drove his armies to destroy everything and everyone that stood in the way of his establishment of a world caliphate.

Muhammad said to the people of Mecca, “I have brought slaughter to you,” then he beheaded every Jewish male, young and old.

Anwar Tarawneh holds a photo of her husband Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh, before he was burned alive by ISIS. ISIS immolated Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kaseasbeh, because Muhammad burned people alive

When the leader of the Jewish Bani al-Nadir tribe refused to reveal the location of his tribe’s treasures, Muhammad ordered his soldiers to “Torture him until you extract what he has.” So a fire was built on the chest of Kinanah bin al-Rabi. Again, when some of his men resisted Muhammad’s planned attack against the Byzantines at Tabuk, the prophet commanded that they be burned alive in the house where they were meeting.

ISIS enslaves and rapes women because Muhammad did, even when he took a six-year-old little girl as his wife and consummated their union when she turned nine.

ISIS mutilates and crucifies men, women, and children because its prophet did. When ISIS hurled a homosexual man from a tower, and the crowd waiting below stoned him to death after they saw that he had survived, they were only following the example of their prophet who stoned homosexuals.

The only difference between 1,400 years of slaughter by Muslims, who follow the practices of Muhammad, and the carnage carried out today by ISIS is that today’s atrocities are broadcast throughout the world by social media.

Unexpectedly, social media has also made ISIS a blessing to the Muslim world, enabling Muslims to see the true face of Islam.

Hatred is what your religion requires of you, not just ritual washings. Slaughter is what your prophet demands of you, not just daily prayers. To follow Islam is to commit your life to jihad, to the destruction or subjugation of all non-Muslims in the name of the god of Islam.

But thanks to ISIS, you can free yourself from the lies of Hezbollah, Hamas, and Al-Jazeera, if you have the courage. They cannot protect you from a western conspiracy, because there is none. Your enemy is Islam, not America.

When you recognize that ISIS is Islam, you free yourself from the naiveté of world leaders who tell you that ISIS is an anomaly of Islam, leaders that, I am sorry to say, include US President Barack Obama, who told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria recently that, “There is an element growing out of Muslim communities in certain parts of the world that have perverted the religion, have embraced a nihilistic, violent, almost medieval interpretation of Islam.”

But it is those who deny that Islam is “nihilistic, violent, almost medieval” who have perverted the religion.

ISIS is Islam. Religion by the sword. Religion by intolerance and violence. Religion commanded by its prophet to conquer the world, behead apostates, mutilate thieves, crucify nonmuslims, and stone everyone that engages in sexual relations that disagree with Muslim laws and practices.

ISIS has torn the mask from Islam, giving the Muslim world a choice for the first time in fourteen centuries. Choose Islam, and you choose ISIS, because they are indistinguishable. Reject ISIS, and you reject Islam, because they are one.

ISIS must be stopped, yes. But the Islamic State is not an international problem. It is an Arab problem. And the armies of Jordan, Egypt, UAE, and others are well equipped to deal with it. Western intervention will only create more chaos and reinforce the illusion of a Middle East/Western conflict.

Like Libya and Yemen, ISIS is a tribal conflict, not a political one. The Islamic State is the Sunni backlash against domination and persecution by minority Shi’a Muslims in Iraq and the ruling Alawite minority of Syria.

Islam hates everything that is not Islam. And just as fresh water and salt water cannot flow from the same spring, love and goodness cannot flow from a religion that is established on hatred and violence.

As long as Muslims refuse to take a strong and aggressive stand against terrorism, they must share responsibility for the continuing atrocities. The hour has come for every Muslim to choose to be human or inhuman, noble or criminal.” [1] – Son Of Hamas Blog

Brethren, pray for Mosab. Pray for the Lord to protect him. For Mosab to speak out in this way against ISIS, surely makes him a prime target.

Thank You Lord for this man who came to You from Islam. Protect him and keep him in Your care. In Jesus’ Name I ask. Amen.

Obama Opens Day #2 Of His Summit On Violent Extremism With Islamic Prayer To Allah

Islam the only religion represented at Obama’s Summit On Violent Extremism

“Let his days be few; and let another take his office.” Psalm 109:8 (KJV)

President Obama loves to mock and taunt the American people, and what happened at the start of Day #2 of his phony Summit On Violent Extremism is just the type of wicked irony he derives so much pleasure from.  A Muslim prayer was recited at the start of the second day of the White House summit on “Countering Violent Extremism,” but no other religious text was presented during the portion of the event that was open to the press.

obama-summit-on-violent-extremism-opens-with-muslim-islam-imam-prayer-february-19-2015

Opening a meeting about combating violent extremism with Islamic prayer is like having morbidly obese people giving the keynote address at a health conference or having a pedophile as the principal of a child’s nursery school. Read below the inane nonsense spouted by the imam where he says that “mosques serve as a beacon of hope”! Honestly, is there anyone, anywhere that believes that?

Obama is grooming America, like the spiritual pervert that he is, to make the shift to accepting Sharia within the United States government.

Imam Sheikh Sa’ad Musse Roble, president of the World Peace Organization in Minneapolis, Minn., recited a “verse from the Quran” following remarks by Obama administration officials and Democratic members of Congress.

“In translation those verses of the Quran mean ‘Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption in the land, it’s as if he has slain mankind entirely, and whoever saves one life, it’s as if he has saved mankind entirely,’” Adam said.

“Mosques serve as a beacon of hope,” Adam said. “While imams’ provide moral compass for the Muslim community in navigating life.”

Adam said “religious leaders” want to have “dialogue” with the U.S. government about “issues of concern” and said that Muslim imams have spoken out against terrorism.

“The peace, safety and security of the United States are of fundamental importance to the Muslim American community, and we oppose any form or shape of violent extremism that threatens peaceful coexistence,” Adam said.

“We believe in the right of all people to live in peace and security,” Adam said. “Muslim imams have condemned and continue to denounce anyone who tries to use the religion of Islam to support terrorism.”

Roble spoke in English on behalf of his organization, asking people to “make peace.”

“Make peace in yourself, in your family, in your friends, in your neighbors, in your state, in your country and of the war because you are brothers and sisters,” Roble said. “And God bless you.” source

Obama’s ISIS Strategy Is Even Worse Than You Think

The progressive mind is a terrible thing to try to comprehend . . .

We couldn’t stop crime by fighting crime. Instead the root causes of crime had to be addressed. The police became social workers and criminals overran entire cities. The public demanded action and a new wave of mayors got tough on crime. While the sociologists, social workers, activists and bleeding hearts wailed that it wouldn’t work, surprisingly locking up criminals did stop them from committing crimes.

Creepy, Calculating and Controlling: All the ways big brother is watching you – John Whitehead

By John Whitehead: Rutherford Institute

Today, there’s little room for indiscretions, imperfections, or acts of independence—especially not when the government can listen in on your phone calls, monitor your driving habits, track your movements, scrutinize your purchases and peer through the walls of your home. That’s because technology—specifically the technology employed by the government against the American citizenry—has upped the stakes dramatically so that there’s little we do that is not known by the government.

The Olivet Discourse…Luke’s Version

By Jack Kelley

Students of prophecy often pay more attention to Matthew’s version of the Olivet Discourse because of its greater length and detail. But when we bypass Luke’s account, we miss one third of the Lord’s message. That’s because the disciples asked the Lord three questions and in Matthew 24 He only answered the last two. Also, it’s Luke’s answer to their first question that confirms the whole message as it relates to the end times.

Inerrancy, Infallibility and Canadian Mennonites

Seeing that the Inerrancy Summit is coming up in just over a week, I’m tossing something up along those lines and will help get your fires stoked for Shepherd’s Conference 2015!

Growing up in the (hypothetically) conservative Canadian Mennonite Brethren Conference, I didn’t learn about the concept of inerrancy until I was in Bible College. I was taught the standard Mennonite Brethren position that the Bible is infallible but not inerrant. In practice this was a way of pointing out that the Bible is meant to teach about salvation rather than science, which had the conspicuous side-benefit of giving Mennonites an easy escape from the need to…well…know anything outside of some sort of basic gospel presentation.

Bible Origami

The denomination that I grew up in used language taken from people like Harold Loewen, who addressed 2 Tim. 3:14-17 and wrote:

“Scripture here tells us to look for the knowledge of salvation in its message, that and nothing more. Biblical authority, therefore, pertains only to salvation matters. Thus the apostle speaks here of the functional authority of Scripture as it relates to salvation alone…”[1]

When I was young, the reality of the truth of the individual propositional statements of the Bible was of little consequence because Mennonites (as do many other confused believers) judge the veracity of the word of God on the basis of its product, not its propositions. Mennonite theologian John B. Toews wrote,

“Now that the orthodoxy of a believer is tested on the issue of an inerrant Bible, we may well examine our stance. The acceptance of the Bible as the Word of God for the Mennonite Brethren is ‘not the end of a chain of logic.’ ‘It is much more the discovery of Christ through the witness of the Scriptures that God has spoken first through the prophets and later by His Son.’ For our forefathers, the reality of the supernatural defied all efforts of proof. To accept the Bible as the Word of God was for them an exercise of faith that found its verification of genuineness in a life of obedience to the teaching and life of Jesus.”[2]

In practice, we were theological pragmatists.  Defending the meticulous truth of the scripture on various points was not needed.  All that needed concern my fellow Mennonites was whether the Bible produced a life of external piety, or at least something somewhat close.

Amish Pit

Those ideas are part of the theological context for understanding why the contemporary MB Confession of Faith reads “We believe that the entire Bible was inspired by God through the Holy Spirit” as well as “We accept the Bible as the infallible Word of God and the authoritative guide for faith and practice” without mentioning inerrancy or even expanding on the terminology or concepts previously mentioned.

That sort of language and rhetoric isn’t isolated to Mennonites. Much of contemporary Evangelicalism shares similar sentiments to the Mennonite Brethren, who profess a general belief in the infallibility of Scripture without belief in its inerrancy. Over the years, I’ve come to reject the sub-biblical understanding of the Bible that I was taught for five reasons:

8 Reasons Every Christian Should Sing Hymns

For too long now, hymn-singing has been left as just another cold dessert choice in the worship cafeteria. Just for those of “a certain age.” Just for those who “desire more tradition in their worship experience.” It’s time those days were over. It’s time to teach our churches how to sing hymns once again. Before it’s too late, and the rich tradition is gone for good.

Stealing From God (A Review)

“By definition, Christian apologetics deals with defending the faith and, in the process, marshaling evidence in support of Christianity’s truth claims. “Stealing From God” does that, of course, but it does something else, too. Why I’m Not a Jehovah’s Witness

Tragically then, because JW doctrine derives from a devious Bible translation, denies the God of the Bible, the deity of Christ, and the biblical resurrection of Christ, it denies any possibility of salvation through Christ. It is a false gospel and damnable system through which no one can be forgiven of sin, right before God, and go to heaven. Thankfully, however, the JW Christ is a mere myth.

Spurgeon on counterfeit affections

by Ryan Martin

At this blog, we are concerned about the affections. We believe that true Christian love is a supernatural and gracious work of the Holy Spirit, and from this belief we want (positively) to encourage Christian ministries to draw affections out of believers properly through the means God has given and (negatively) to warn against the catastrophic results of ministries who evoke religious feelings through appeals to humankind’s lowest desires. Indeed, we would encourage all believers to learn to attend to the Word of God, prayer, meditation on Scripture, and the ordinances and seek God’s face in the beauty of holiness as revealed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Some might say that this emphasis is new or novel. It would hardly be so. Christian teachers such as Augustine, Bernard of Clairvaux, and Jonathan Edwards have all drawn distinctions between proper or improper and better or worse affections for God. Of course, our expression of those affections and, even more importantly, the ways in which we draw out those affections, are important factors into these discussions. The other day I stumbled across a quote by C. H. Spurgeon that, upon reflection, addresses our concerns especially well. To my way of thinking, Spurgeon despite his own emphases, touches on many of the very issues we are trying to address:

Bearing Witness for Christ in the Workplace, Part 1

by Mark Snoeberger

I work in an almost exclusively Christian environment. With the exception of a few brief encounters with folks delivering packages, reading the gas meter, and such, my whole workday is spent with believers. I’m not the best person, I admit, to speak of sharing Christ in the workplace. Recent changes in my family’s situations, however, have left me thinking very hard about the topic, and I feel enormous pressure to offer them timely advice before their fresh opportunities deteriorate (as they so often do) into situations where opportunities for the Gospel have been effectively crushed.

The Appalling Apostasy of Rob Bell

by Bill Muehlenberg

“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.” (The Apostle Paul in Acts 20:28-31.)

We were warned 2000 years ago to beware of false teachers, false prophets, and false shepherds. Jesus, Paul and others regularly made such warnings. And they did so for good reason: they knew that Satan is alive and well and ever actively working to subvert the work of God.

The dangers of apostasy and deception in the churches was a worrying reality back then, and it still is today. And we are seeing all this take place right before our very eyes. The trouble is, how many Christians have been deceived along the way? How many will end up in a lost eternity as a result?

What is a Bible Promise?

I frequently hear people say that the Bible promises this or the Bible promises that. But what does that mean? Is it as simple as saying that anything the Bible says must be a promise for us to hold on to? Some would think so.

I would like to express caution when claiming a Bible promise. Make sure it is a promise before you hold on to it.

Cold Case Christianity: Are Young People Really Leaving Christianity?

A blog post at Theological Matters examines the Biblical illiteracy of young Christians. Much has been written about both the illiteracy of teenage believers and the flight of young people from the Church. Many have observed this trend, and I too have witnessed it anecdotally as a youth pastor (and shamefully, I contributed to the trend for some time before I changed course). Some writers and Christian observers deny the flight of young people altogether, but the growing statistics should alarm us enough as Church leaders to do something about the dilemma. My hope in this post is to simply consolidate some of the research (many of the summaries are directly quoted) so you can decide for yourself. I’m going to organize the recent findings in a way that illuminates the problem:

Weak Faith, True Faith!

The Reformed Reader

Heaven on Earth: A Treatise on Christian Assurance (Puritan Paperbacks)  Christians should desire a strong faith in Christ and his promises; it is biblical for God’s people to pray and strive for robust faith in the Lord.  However, our faith is imperfect since we are not yet fully sanctified.  We struggle with doubts, fears, questions, and sometimes we lack assurance.  Thankfully, the Bible doesn’t teach that we need perfectly strong faith in Christ to be justified and saved.  Thankfully, even an imperfect and weak faith saves because it trusts in a perfect and strong Savior.  Thomas Brooks said it this way:

1) A weak faith doth as much justify and as much unite a man to Christ as a strong faith.  It gives a man as much title to and interest in Christ as the strongest faith in the world.  A weak hand may receive a pearl as well as the strong hand of a giant.  Faith is a…

Victor Davis Hanson: Five mistakes Democrats made in the Middle East

WINTERY KNIGHT

This National Review article is by military historian Victor Davis Hanson.

Here are the 5 mistakes:

  1. Iran
  2. Iraq
  3. Libya
  4. Egypt
  5. Israel

All of the areas are important, but I want to focus on the one that I think is going to hurt us the most: Iran.

Dr. Hanson writes:

Sanctions were starting to squeeze Iran, which had been unable to absorb Shiite-dominated Iraq. Unrest in Iran was rising, spearheaded by pro-Western young reformers. Less than a month after Barack Obama’s inauguration, over a million Iranians hit the streets to protest their country’s rigged elections. The Europeans were beginning to understand that a nuclear Iran posed a greater threat of nuclear blackmail to the EU than to the U.S.

Poland and the Czech Republic had agreed to partner with the U.S. in creating an anti-ballistic missile system to deter Iran’s growing missile program. The U.S. and its friends occasionally sent armadas slowly…

BREAKING: Obama refuses to back Egypt in fight against Radical Islam. ISIS burns 45 people to death in Iraq. MSNBC’s Chris Matthew says U.S. being “morally humiliated” by ISIS. New report highlights ISIS persecution of Christians.

The Great Evangelical Copt Out

Polemics Report

What is the “True Gospel”?

In other words, how is a sinful person justified before a holy God?

The answer to these questions was the hallmark of the Protestant Reformation. It was in meditating upon Romans 1:17 (“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith.'”) that Martin Luther gained his understanding that the Christian is justified by faith alone and not by any works of righteousness. And out of this understanding rose the Five Solas of the Reformation: Sola Fide, by faith alone; Sola Scriptura, by Scripture alone; Solus Christus, through Christ alone; Sola Gratia, by grace alone; and Soli Deo Gloria, glory to God alone. And Protestants have understood ever since that any understanding of justification that includes meritorious work by man constitutes a false gospel.

The apostle Paul…

Sanctification and our flesh

Possessing the Treasure

by Mike Ratliff

20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death. 22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:20-23 NASB)

If you read or listen to the “testimonies” of the “new evangelists” or the emergents or even those in the conservative denominations like the Southern Baptist Denomination who are working very hard to transform them into something they perceive as more culturally relevant, you will discover that they, across the board, arrived at their theology as they became “refugees”…
