What does ISIS want? To usher in the End of Days. Here’s the short version. (Must-read article in The Atlantic)

(Nashville, Tennessee) — Are the leaders and ground forces of the Islamic State driven by an apocalyptic, End of Days theology? If so, does President Obama and his administration understand this?

I was asked these questions on Fox News yesterday. (To watch the video or read the transcript, please click here)

Here’s the short version:

  • Yes, ISIS and its supreme leader — Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi — is consumed by a Radical Sunni Islamic version of eschatology, or End Times theology.
  • No, the President and his senior team do not see this, and this is one of the most serious mistakes they are making. We cannot defeat an enemy we refuse to define. I realize eschatology is a topic foreign — even bizarre — to most political, military and intelligence officials. But to truly understand what ISIS…

Washington Post: The progressive ideas behind the lack of free speech on campus (More “Left-fascism”)

Left-fascism is the version of fascism which is generally associated with the so called “Left” which is exhibited in many nodes of American culture but particularly at some universities. Many people know it as “political correctness” but it goes much deeper than just that.

Though Left-fascism embraces the Marxist ideas of “hierarchy” and “oppression” and other tenets associated with the radical Left, Left-fascism has more in common with Goebbels and Hitler than it does with anything which could remotely be called “liberal.” God forbid (trigger warning: I used the name of God, oh wait too late) any legitimate quest for truth or beauty. Left-fascism, driven by the grievance studies crowd, is an oppressive, anti-intellectual, anti-liberal, anti-human (even anti-humanist) ethos of death and self pity. It is a philosophy of second class minds.

And the thing is, the Left-fascists know it. That’s why they have to bully everyone.

Most Americans Are Slaves And They Don’t Even Know It

Most Americans spend their lives working for others, paying off debts to others and performing tasks that others tell them that they “must” do. These days, we don’t like to think of ourselves as “servants” or “slaves”, but that is what the vast majority of us are. It is just that the mechanisms of our enslavement have become much more sophisticated over time. It has been said that the borrower is the servant of the lender, and most of us start going into debt very early into our adult years. In fact, those that go to college to “get an education” are likely to enter the “real world” with a staggering amount of debt. And of course that is just the beginning of the debt accumulation. Today, when you add up all mortgage debt, all credit card debt and all student loan debt, the average American household is carrying a grand total of 203,163 dollars of debt. Overall, American households are more than 11 trillion dollars in debt at this point. And even though most Americans don’t realize this, over the course of our lifetimes the amount of money that we will repay on our debts is far greater than the amount that we originally borrowed. In fact, when it comes to credit card debt you can easily end up repaying several times the amount of money that you originally borrowed. So we work our fingers to the bone to pay off these debts, and the vast majority of us are not even working for ourselves. Instead, our work makes the businesses that other people own more profitable. So if we spend the best years of our lives building businesses for others, servicing debts that we owe to others and making others wealthier, what does that make us? (Read More….)

The New Madrid Earthquake That Will Divide The United States In Half

Once upon a time, North America almost divided along a very deep subsurface rift. Today, that rift system and the faults associated with it are known as the New Madrid fault zone. This fault zone is six times larger than the San Andreas fault zone in California and it covers portions of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. Back in 1811 and 1812, four of the largest earthquakes in U.S. history struck that area of the country. The movement of the ground was so powerful that it changed the course of the Mississippi River and it rang church bells in Boston, Massachusetts. So could such an earthquake (or worse) strike today? Well, last year the U.S. Geological Survey released a report that warned that the New Madrid fault zone has the “potential for larger and more powerful quakes than previously thought“, and the USGS also admits that the number of significant earthquakes in the middle part of the country has more than quintupled in recent years. We also know that the U.S. government and large corporations are so concerned about the potential for a major New Madrid earthquake that they have held major exercises that simulate one. Scientists tell us that it is just a matter of time until another superquake hits the region, and personally I am one of the millions of Americans that believe that we will eventually see a New Madrid earthquake that will divide the United States in half. That is one of the reasons why I included a New Madrid earthquake in my novel. But others are skeptical. They point out that we have not seen a truly devastating earthquake in that region for more than 200 years. So why be concerned about one now? (Read More…)

Obama Administration Fights Judge’s Immigration Injunction

The Obama administration does not recognize the lawful check on its power brought about by a Republican Congress, a federal judge in Texas and 26 states. Last week, Barack Obama’s November executive amnesty was blocked with an injunction, but the administration responded by undermining the judge’s order. On Friday, Obama’s spokesman Josh Earnest announced the Justice Department would file for a stay. Meanwhile, the commissioner for Customs and Border Protection, Gil Kerlikowske, emailed agents, telling them to ignore the judge’s order because the court “did not enjoin the Secretary’s overall prioritization of DHS enforcement resources or the existing 2012 DACA policy.” Meanwhile, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson insisted congressional Democrats are not blocking debate on a bill that would fund DHS, sans funds for Obama’s immigration actions. “We should have the debate about immigration reform,” Johnson said. “But you should not tie that to the funding for the third largest department of our government, 240,000 people.” In other words, Democrats are open to debate, once Obama’s orders are the de facto law of the land.

CNN: ‘Right-Wing Extremists’ Bigger Threat Than ISIL

Obama administration officials will do whatever it takes to divert attention from Islamic terrorists and the threat posed by jihadis, and so too will their lemmings in the Leftmedia. Every day, the Islamic State one-ups itself with inhumane depravity, which has more Americans wondering what it will take for a proper U.S. response and how long until terrorists organize another attack here at home. The threat is real, and public opinion is clearly shifting on what to do about it. CNN is concerned about other things, though — like “right-wing extremists.” During Friday’s telecast, anchor Carol Costello worried that “ISIS isn’t the only threat for Americans.” She elaborated, “According to an intelligence report by the Department of Homeland Security, authorities are also concerned about right-wing citizen extremists right here in the United States. That may be, in some cases, more dangerous than foreign Islamic terror groups.” CNN didn’t come right out and say it, but substitute “right-wing citizen extremists” with “Tea Party terrorists” and you’ll understand what they were getting at. 800,000 Wrong ObamaCare Tax Forms Sent

The ObamaCare rollout began with mandate waivers, a busted website and canceled plans nationwide. This year, millions of Americans face some unwelcome subsidy news when they file their taxes — not to mention if the Supreme Court nullifies federal subsidies per the language of the law itself. And now this from the Associated Press: “About 800,000 HealthCare.gov customers got the wrong tax information from the government, the Obama administration said Friday, and officials are asking those affected to delay filing their 2014 returns.” The messed up forms mean all those taxpayers must wait to file, and the 50,000 who already have filed now need to re-file. For those awaiting refunds, that’s going to hurt, but for the numerous filers who are going to be blindsided by ObamaCare’s taxes it’s perhaps a blessing in disguise. Go figure. No wonder the Obama administration just announced a new, second enrollment period.

Obama Repeats Low Gas Prices Boast

Once again, Barack Obama happily takes credit for cheaper prices at the gas pump. “As Democrats, we believe in reducing our dependence on foreign oil and protecting our planet,” Obama said Friday. “Today, America is number one in oil; number one in gas; number one in wind power. Every three weeks, we bring online as much solar power as we did in the entire year of 2008. And thanks to lower gas prices and higher fuel standards, the typical family should save about 750 bucks at the pump.” As we have said every time he repeats this empty boast, Obama has nothing to do with lower oil prices, unless “despite his efforts” counts. According to The Daily Caller, “The U.S. went from producing 5 million barrels per day in 2008 to nearly 7.5 million barrels per day in 2013 — a huge increase, but one that almost exclusively took place on private and state lands. Obama has little to no control over private and state lands. He does, however, have control over federal lands where oil production has been faltering. … From 2009 to 2013, crude oil production [on federal lands] fell from 1.8 million barrels per day to 1.7 million barrels per day, according to the Congressional Research Service.” Obama knows low gas prices benefit everyone — especially the middle class he’s so fond of these days — but if it were really up to him we’d all be driving Chevy Volts and paying $10 a gallon. Before Roe v. Wade, There Was Jack Willke

Dr. Jack Willke, who is considered the father of the modern, pro-life movement, died unexpectedly at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was 89. Even before the Supreme Court’s fiat in 1973 struck down most state abortion laws, Willke stopped delivering babies in the ’60s to lobby and protest against the practice. The former president of both the International Right to Life Federation and the National Right to Life Committee, Willke was a thought leader in the pro-life movement because he authored such work as “Abortion Questions & Answers” and a recently published history of the fight against abortion. Later in his life, Willkes headed the educational organization Life Issues Institute. Executive Director of Life Issues Institute Bradley Mattes told Life Site News, “Jack has been my mentor and colleague for over 23 years and was a second father to me.” He continued, “I can only imagine the greeting Jack received in heaven — millions of babies who he tirelessly worked to saved, joyfully welcoming him home.” R.I.P. Fruit According to the Seeds

The Leftmedia have been asking a lot of questions of Republicans who have the audacity to confront the words and deeds of Barack Obama. Prompted by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s remarks about Obama’s conspicuous lack of love for the country, Scott Walker, Marco Rubio and Bobby Jindal have all been pressed to answer the question of the week: “Does Barack Obama love America?”

First, let’s state the obvious: The Leftmedia is an extension of the Democratic National Committee. Most mainstream journalists ascribe to the philosophy of the Left and serve to camouflage reality — earning, for the purpose of this text, the distinction “presstitutes.”

Once upon a time, professional journalists reported news and conveyed facts. Today’s crop, however, is invested in protecting the incompetence and lies of Barack Obama. In part, that’s due to their own failure to do the job exposing the anti-American and racially divisive orchard in which America’s 44th president was grown.

Does Barack Obama love America?

If you love something, or even like something, you typically say nice things and demonstrate your affections toward that person or thing by your words and your actions. But Obama has never been one to convey a sense of patriotism.

If Obama loves or even likes our nation, why did he pronounce to a rabid crowd of supporters on Oct. 30, 2008, “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America”?

If the Obamas love or even like America, why would Michelle Obama declare more than once as she traveled on the Obama campaign trail, “For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country”?

Mrs. Obama likewise plainly demonstrated her husband’s opinion of America on May 14, 2008: “We are going to have to change our conversation. We’re going to have to change our traditions, our history. We’re going to have to move into a different place as a nation.”

All that change was based on the hope that American exceptionalism, individual success and equal opportunity would be destroyed and replaced by socialism in the form of wealth redistribution and a mammoth growth of the government.

As early as June 2009, Nile Gardiner of the Heritage Foundation complied a list of 10 apologies Obama made in his six-month tenure as “Leader of the Free World.” These apologies covered American “arrogance,” “dictates,” our having gone “off course,” and the “darker periods in our history.”

The presstitutes vociferously denied that Obama had gone on an “Apology Tour.” The evidence proves otherwise.

Back to the present, Giuliani said what many Americans were already thinking: “I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America.” He has since clarified, elaborated on and defended those remarks.

The presstitutes of the Left soiled themselves in dismay, while the invertebrates on the Right echoed the Left’s defense of Obama. But Giuliani’s remarks follow six years of Obama’s degradation of America. He has re-engineered vast swaths of our economy, nearly doubled the debt and undermined our national security in a vain attempt to appease and patronize our enemies. And no president has been more cravenly political.

Just five months ago, Obama stood at the United Nations and failed to praise America. Instead, he declared, “America has plenty of problems within its borders … our own racial and ethnic tensions.” It was an obvious attempt to morally equate the ginned up racial tension fueled by Al Sharpton and Eric Holder to the hotbed of terror driven by Islamic radicals. And for the elected leader of America to denigrate his own country before that disgraceful body of socialists, thugs and dictators is shameful.

At the National Prayer Breakfast, Obama attempted to justify his refusal to state the truth about radical Islamic ideology by equating 21st century beheadings and live burnings of Christians by Islamist radicals with the Crusades fought against warring Muslims in the 12th century.

In short, Obama proves he learned well during the 20 years he spent as a disciple of hate in the pews of Jeremiah “God d— America” Wright’s “church,” where Black Liberation Theology is gospel and fiery hatred serves as the weekly sermon. (And Wright was only one of Obama’s numerous anti-American friends and mentors.)

The apple, the tree and the orchard are all of the same blame-America-first species. And as Jesus once said, “You will recognize them by their fruits.”

Nice Work if You Can Get It

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) recently re-introduced a bill that might be the best indicator of government dysfunction in recent memory. The Eliminating Pornography from Agencies Act (H.R. 901) seeks to “prohibit accessing pornographic web sites from Federal computers, and for other purposes.” Why is such a bill necessary? Because government bureaucrats are just that good at accountability.

An employee with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) who confessed to downloading more than 7,000 files of pornography to a government computer and watching them two to six hours a day remained on the government payroll at least through September — despite having his “work habit” revealed at a congressional hearing last May. Enraged, lawmakers wondered why the employee hadn’t been terminated, since he admitted he’d been watching porn since 2010. EPA second-in-command Bob Perciasepe gave them a weak response: “We need to wait for the inspector general’s report. I don’t know if they’re going to send him a criminal notice.”

Fast forward to September, and the inertia becomes apparent. “This employee continues to be investigated by the [Office of the Inspector General] and U.S. Attorney’s Office, and we are working with these offices to obtain information necessary to move forward with administrative action,” said EPA spokeswoman Liz Purchia. It remains unclear whether the individual still remains employed today, a full nine months after the initial discovery — and despite confessing to the allegation.

Adding insult to injury, the employee, who was placed on administrative leave, not only continued to collect his salary of approximately $120,000 per year, he was actually given “performance rewards” for working hard.

Such levels of remuneration should surprise no one. A 2014 report released by the Cato Institute reveals that, in 2013, the average compensation for federal civilian workers, including wages and benefits, was $115,524. Private sector workers? Only $66,357, or a whopping 74% less.

And our EPA porn-watcher isn’t alone. A Treasury Department employee viewed approximately 13,000 porn images in a six-week period, and a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) worker watched pornography for up to eight hours per week, because he was “bored” due to a lack of work. The Washington Times reveals that the lack-of-work excuse “has emerged time and again in federal investigations.”

The paper also revealed the crux of the problem after illuminating another case where paralegals working for U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board watched TV, shopped online, exercised and played around on their tablet computers, accounting for about $4 million of getting paid for not working. They insisted the reason they wasted the time was because their supervisors didn’t give any assignments. Why not?

“Some supervisors were reluctant to give paralegals special projects out of fear that the assignments could antagonize the labor union,” the Times explained.

Leftist icon Franklin Delano Roosevelt was wise to that problem back in 1937. “All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service,” he wrote.

Unfortunately, another liberal icon, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, failed to heed that warning. On Jan. 17, 1962, he signed Executive Order 10988 granting collective bargaining rights to federal workers. And while pay and benefits are set by Congress, workers can still bargain regarding conditions of employment. Conditions which apparently include making it next to impossible to fire miscreants who watch hours of pornography on the taxpayers’ dime.

And while abuse like that is relatively inconsequential, it is worth remembering that in other arenas it can literally be deadly. Last Tuesday, the Veterans Affairs Department (VA) was forced to back away from assertions by VA Secretary Bob McDonald that 60 employees who falsified patient data — falsifications that resulted in vets dying while waiting to be seen — had been fired since he took over last July. As Military.com more accurately reports, “10 employees were fired, four were permitted to resign or retire in lieu of being terminated, four had their probationary employment terminated, three were demoted, eight suspended for periods ranging from less than two weeks to 50 days, a dozen given admonishments and five were reprimanded.”

Why were some officials permitted to resign in lieu of termination? The Wall Street Journal spells it out: “The VA retirees follow the example set by Lois Lerner, who retired from the IRS before she could be dismissed for her role in targeting conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. They will all presumably suffer no reduction in federal retirement benefits.”

And let’s not forget bonuses. During congressional hearings on the VA scandal held last June, the agency admitted that approximately 65% of senior VA executives were paid a total of $2.7 million in bonuses in 2013, a number that doesn’t include tens of millions of additional bonuses awarded to doctors and other VA medical providers. Lerner collected $42,531 in bonuses between 2009 and 2011, and according to the National Taxpayers Union her pension could be as much as $102,600 per year.

And so, as far as deadbeat porno-watching federal workers go, it’s going to take an actual law to codify even the most basic standards of decorum and professionalism — assuming it passes. “There is absolutely no excuse for federal employees to be viewing and downloading pornographic materials on the taxpayers’ dime,” said Meadows. Oh yes there is. People who are virtually impossible to fire, who don’t have enough work to do, and who are often rewarded for their incompetence — even when it’s deadly — might just assume they’re invincible. And as long as federal workers remain unionized, they might be right.

The Gipper: “[T]here is a profound moral difference between the use of force for liberation and the use of force for conquest.”

Columnists Ken Blackwell & Bob Morrison: “[T]he very liberal Franklin D. Roosevelt and Barack Hussein Obama are radically different — and it is not their race. FDR’s son Elliott told Winston Churchill at the first summit meeting ever held ‘my father is a very religious man.’ That was in August 1941. Churchill already knew that. That’s why he chose Christian hymns for an emotional joint worship service on board the battle-scarred HMS Prince of Wales. As newsreel cameras showed both leaders singing ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’ among thousands of U.S. and Royal Navy sailors, Justice Felix Frankfurter called it one of the most moving experiences of his life. … FDR’s administration published war posters showing a Nazi dagger stabbing into the Christian Bible. ‘Our Enemy’ was the caption. President Roosevelt’s personal message and signature was included in hundreds of thousands of Bibles — New Testament and Hebrew Psalms — distributed to our troops. The Obama administration fawns before jihadists abroad, invites their apologists into the White House, and persecutes Christians in the military. He complains of Jews housing Jews in Jerusalem and shuns the Israeli Prime Minster. Is it any wonder that FDR won World War II in four years and, after six years of desultory action this most anti-Israel, most anti-Christian administration in U.S. history is still groping for answers?”

Columnist John C. Goodman: “If the health insurers followed the lead of the casualty insurers, their ads would focus on what could go wrong and how good they are at treating the problems. … But in fact, this is what you never see in a health insurance commercial in Washington, DC. … Instead, what you see are pictures of young healthy families. The implicit message is: if you look like the people in these photos, we want you. What explains the difference between the health insurance and casualty insurance markets? In the latter people pay real prices that reflect real risks. In the former, no one is paying a premium that reflects the expected cost of his care. The healthy are being overcharged so that the sick can be undercharged. So insurers try to attract the healthy and avoid the sick. But the perverse incentives don’t end after enrollment. The incentive then is to under-provide to the sick (to encourage their exodus and avoid attracting more of them) and over-provide to the healthy (to keep the ones they have and attract even more). … There is no reason why the health insurance marketplace cannot work just as well as the market for homeowners insurance and auto liability insurance.”

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel: “Gallup, the polling company, released its annual well-being index where they rank the health and happiness of residents of each of the 50 states. Alaska finished first and Hawaii was No. 2. It’s interesting that the top two happiest states are the ones that are farthest away from the rest of us.”

White House Summit on Violent Extremism Opens With Muslim Prayer – No Other Faiths Represented

Imam Sheikh Sa’ad Musse Roble, president of the World Peace Organization in Minneapolis, Minn. (CNSNews.com/Penny Starr)

First a “Closed Door” Meeting with Muslims in the White House and now a Muslim prayer was recited at the start of the second day of the White House summit on “Countering Violent Extremism,” but no other religious text was presented during the portion of the event that was open to the press. Imam Sheikh Sa’ad Musse Roble, president of the World Peace Organization in Minneapolis, Minn., recited a “verse from the Quran” following remarks by Obama administration officials and Democratic members of Congress.  Imam Abdisalam Adam of the Islamic Civil Society of America offered a translation of the verses: “In translation those verses of the Quran mean ‘Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption in the land, it’s as if he has slain mankind entirely, and whoever saves one life, it’s as if he has saved mankind entirely,’” Adam said. “Mosques serve as (sic) beacon of hope,” Adam said. “While imams’ provide moral compass for the Muslim community in navigating life.” Adam said “religious leaders” want to have “dialogue” with the U.S. government about “issues of concern” and said that Muslim imams have spoken out against terrorism. “The peace, safety and security of the United States are of fundamental importance to the Muslim American community, and we oppose any form or shape of violent extremism that threatens peaceful coexistence,” Adam said. So the question is why worry about Islam infiltrating from without,  when it appears the “Welcome Mat” is laid out at the Homefront?  MORE

PROPHECY WATCH - Iran is Deployed, 'Planning War' Along Israel's Northern BorderPsalm 83: For behold, Your enemies make a tumult;
And those who hate You have lifted up their head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

With Passover approaching and the third of Four Blood Moons appearing, Many believe War involving the Nation of Israel is inevitably approaching and now we are receiving reports of Iran building an active front from Israel’s northwestern sea border all the way to the Golan Heights and according to a report from Arutz Sheva 7  The goal is to undermine and wage war against the “Zionist entity” with conventional, powerful military means from within Lebanon and Syria.  “Iran has taken advantage of the chaos in the Middle East to form a united front from Tehran, through Baghdad, Syria and Lebanon,” Carmon told Kol Yisrael public radio on Monday. What is extremely interesting about Iraq, Lebanon and Syria is the fact that those same regions are what made up Ancient Babylon mentioned in the book of Daniel and Prophesied would rise again in the last days by both Daniel and John the Revelator! We are definitely living in exciting and perilous times! The enemies of Israel are indeed taking crafty counsel against them but according to the Word of God the God of Israel himself will intervene.

Archaeologists May Have Uncovered Ruins of Important Old Testament City

Archaeologists May Have Uncovered Ruins of Important Old Testament CityAn ancient city in Israel that is mentioned multiple times in the Bible may have just been recently discovered by archeologists? Researchers have bee studying the remains of an ancient village at a dig site named Tel Burna since 2009, located 20 miles southwest of Jerusalem. The area was once a strategic border region between ancient Israel to the east and the Philistines to the west. Though the Tel Burna site has yielded important archaeological findings, the true identity of the site has long been uncertain. “The identification of the site has been debated for more than a century,” MORE

Detroit poised to break record for coldest month ever

(credit: istock)

February 2015 could go down for a historic Cold for Detroit. Accuweather’s Dean DeVore says the coldest month ever was in January 1977, with an average temperature of just under 13 degrees, and we’ve got a shot at breaking that record. “calculations are on track to have the coldest month ever in Detroit. Another arctic blast is blowing into town late Tuesday –and won’t be leaving until the weekend. AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Bowers talked about the unfortunate winter weather pattern that’s been persisting. “It’s like an open spigot from like Barrow, Alaska down to the Great Lakes. Meantime, they can’t buy a drop of rain on the west coast for the past month or so,” Bowers said. “It’s been wicked. It really is quite a contrast. The western half of the country is having an extremely warm winter, and here it really is more like the Northwest Territories in our backyardicon1 Coldest Months On Record: February 2015 Could Be Among Top 5. “We’re running about almost 12 degrees below normal his month.” Is this all a part of “Global Warming”, Nature playing it’s course or more “Signs” of the End Times? Fukushima Showing 70x Increase In Radiation Leak

Fukushima Leak Showing 70x Increase In Radiation LeakThe Woes Continue for Japan from Powerful Earthquakes to Fukushima and now It has been a disturbing week for Japan, not due to any recent economic calamity resulting from Abenomics, but because for the first time since the catastrophic 2011 earthquake, the nation has been rocked with a series of ever stronger tremors, with two 6.0+ stronger quakes recorded in just the past 2 days resulting in another radioactive water leak in the sea that was detected at the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant, the facility’s operator TEPCO announced. Contamination levels in the gutter reportedly spiked up 70 times over regular readings. The levels of contamination were between 50 and 70 times higher than Fukushima’s already elevated radioactive status, and were detected at about 10 am local time (1.00 am GMT), AFP reported. After the discovery, the gutter was blocked to prevent leaks to the Pacific Ocean. MORE

Are We Seeing the New World Order Rising?

Posted: 22 Feb 2015 09:18 PM PST

Are We Seeing the New World Order Rising? For all the conspiracy theories and fear mongering, it’s difficult to not at least consider the reality of a New World Order rising. But there is good news amid the darkness. Charisma News caught up with Chris Mitchell, Middle East Bureau Chief for CBN News, to get his thoughts on what is happening in the Middle East and the world. Mitchell recently released Destination Jerusalem: ISIS, Convert or Die, Christian Persecution and the Coming Days Ahead, and talks about what struck him most while writing the book in part two of this exclusive interview.

Charisma News: What struck you most as you wrote Destination Jerusalem?

Mitchell: I remember thinking in one of the refugee camps we visited that Iraq was like Humpty Dumpty and could never be put back together again. It struck me then and still does that we are witnessing a new era in the Middle East and world history. I quoted former Secretary of State Chuck Hagel in the book. He said, “We are living through one of these historic, defining times. I think we are seeing a new world order.” Militant Islam like ISIS is becoming a global phenomenon, re-drawing borders, and we will live with its consequences for a long time to come. With ISIS on the march, Iran developing nuclear weapons and terror attacks from Paris to Sydney, we are living through perilous times. It feels like it must have in 1939 on the eve of World War II. Two authors I think describe it best. Charles Dickens said “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Isaiah said, “Arise, shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. Deep darkness covers the peoples.” In the days to come, I believe we will see great light and great darkness. The good news is that many Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus like never in the 1,400 history of Islam, many of them through supernatural dreams and visions. MORE

Siberian Express snow-and-rain storm due Sunday across the south and eastern U.S. after bouts of frigid weather kill 28 people

Siberian Express snow-and-rain storm due Sunday across the south and eastern U.S. after bouts of frigid weather kill 28 people A fresh band of winter weather that churned up the East Coast on Saturday, pummeling the storm-weary region with snow, sleet and freezing rain, was expected to gradually taper off Sunday morning, forecasters said. Six inches or more of fresh snow was forecast for parts of the Northeast by early Sunday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Bitter cold is also expected, but conditions should start to ease in many areas by mid-morning, the service said. Boston, which had already been hit by 98.7 inches of snow going into the weekend, saw only about an inch Saturday, but local weather watchers there were forecasting the total tally to hit 100 inches by midnight. The city’s total is well above the average yearly total of 31 inches.  The new round of harsh weather is part of a system that has cut a curving, 2,000-mile path from southern Missouri to Maine. Snow and ice contributed to major delays at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York Saturday, with some arriving flights delayed more than two hours, and flights destined for Newark International Airport in New Jersey were delayed more than three hours, according to a Federal Aviation Administration advisory. Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings were in effect until Sunday for parts of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire, the NWS said. The system dropped steady snow on Washington and Baltimore as it pushed up the East Coast Saturday. West Virginia saw 18 inches of snow, according to state officials. MORE

Entire World Soon At War With US As Govt Rides Dollar Over The Cliff

Entire World Soon At War With US As Govt Rides Dollar Over The CliffWarning us that the US will soon be at war with the entire world as the US succeeds at isolating itself from 85% to 90% of the rest of the nations, Dr. Jim Willie tells us that we now face a grave risk of falling deeply into a 3rd world nation as our government rides the dollar over the cliff, leading the dollar to die a horrible death and the rightful return of gold to the throne. Dr. Willie shares with us that the horrible sequence of rocky events that have begun the year 2015 in the financial world as the US becomes the world’s biggest ‘rogue nation’, refusing to establish a trade and monetary system that is based on gold as we’ll soon see the ‘final boomerang whiplash’. With the Chinese New Year now here, Dr. Willie warns us below that we’ve had enough time to prepare for the ‘conclusion events’ soon to follow, certainly to occur with ‘fireworks’ we are told. More graphics on our current economic situation below videos from VisionVictory and Elite NWO Agenda outlining the buildup to WW3 in 2nd video while Alan Greenspan tells us in the 1st video that gold will ‘soon rise measurably’ while telling us that the FED won’t be able to exit without causing an ‘event’. The Chinese New Year…a significant event. People have had adequate warning to prepare themselves for conclusion events, certain to occur with fireworks. The USDollar is soon to fade into oblivion. Its rise signals its demise. The hidden dismantle of the Petro-Dollar mechanism has been full of intrigue. The Gold Standard will return, but through the trade window. The solution to the untreated Global Financial Crisis is the gold route. The Eurasian Trade Zone will be built upon the gold route, and see a revival of the Silk Road with accompanying Maritime Routes. The nascent trade zone will soon include Germany and whatever nation follows its prudent lead. MORE

World About To Enter A Period Of Immense Financial Destruction And Social Disorder

World About To Enter A Period Of Immense Financial Destruction And Social DisorderToday a 40-year market veteran sent King World News an incredibly important piece that warns the world is about to enter a period of immense financial destruction and social disorder. This piece exclusively for KWN also discusses why the financial destruction and social disorder will engulf the entire world. After much speculation, we now know the outcome of the negotiations between the EU and Greece. The two sides agreed to extend the status quo for another four months in exchange for promises including “flexible labor laws” and “rooting out corruption”. If you had to design a phony conclusion for the meetings, this one could not be any better. A government elected to end austerity agrees to vague promises in exchange for no money and a continuation of the austerity. It should not be a surprise to anyone other than the Greek people. Another election and another set of politicians promising to do the impossible. Even if the Greek officials had good intentions, there was no possibility of a scenario whereby the debt went unpaid, more money came in and austerity was lifted. Default and a Greek exit are virtually certain. The austerity under which the Greek people are suffering is going to seem modest compared to the elevator shaft of wealth destruction that awaits the general population. More

Obama Aiding ISIS By Broadcasting Plans To Attempt To Retake Mosul

On the heels of his meeting on the handling of terrorism, Obama is giving the enemy our strategic playbook regarding the taking back of Mosul.

“The Obama administration is under heavy criticism today after publishing detailed plans on the timing to retake the ISIS-captured city of Mosul.

The US wants Iraq to launch its offensive to retake the strategic northern city of Mosul from the Islamic State group in April or May, military officials said. Mosul is believed to be held by 1,000-2,000 IS fighters and 20,000-25,000 Iraqi troops are needed to carry out the offensive, an official with US Central Command said on Thursday.

“The mark on the wall we are still shooting for is the April-May time-frame,” the official said, adding that because of Ramadan and the increasing heat of summer, “it becomes problematic if it goes much later than May.” source

What’s Out: Defeating the enemy

What’s In: Sending the enemy our war plans, including troop levels and timing, in advance. Unbelievable.

Last night, Arkansas Senator and former Army Infantry Officer Tom Cotton blasted the administration for publishing the war plans.

It’s very mystifying why this administration would reveal potential plans to retake Mosul. If a private in Iraq had revealed this kind of planning inadvertently by leaving a plan in the chow hall or the gym, he might have faced a court marshal but it’s now become a matter of policy that this administration is going to announce war plans in advance. It only increases the risk,” Cotton said Thursday night on The Kelly File.

We are aiding and abetting the enemy. I do not understand why the President and the administration want to aid and abet the enemy,” Retired Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney added. “It’s going to expose our forces to risk.” [1] – source

Hollywood Snubs American Sniper Movie As Live Snipers Protect Oscar Ceremony From Rooftops

Operation Oscar is headquartered in a state-of-the-art underground bunker downtown, with a makeshift command post at a Hollywood soundstage

Liberals are quite insane, as Hollywood just proved at last evenings Oscar awards show. American Sniper, the largest-grossing war movie in American history, was nominated in 6 different categories including Best Picture and Best Actor. The only award it won was for Sound Editing. Liberal, elitist Hollywood hates patriotic movies about America, and it hates the idea of citizens owning firearms. The Academy sent a very clear message by it’s round rejection of American Sniper. But wait…there’s more.

The Oscars last night were protected by the biggest display of raw firepower in it’s history. The Hollywood Reporter had this to say about that:

“This year, in the wake of ISIS atrocities abroad and the Charlie Hebdo murders, authorities are mounting their most sophisticated security effort yet, deploying an astounding array of high-tech gadgetry and armies of police officers to keep the party safe. Operation Oscar is headquartered in a state-of-the-art underground bunker downtown, with a makeshift command post at a Hollywood soundstage.

Led by a Los Angeles Police Department commander, the task force unites nearly 1,000 officers from agencies including the FBI and Department of Homeland Security. They divide the area around Hollywood and Highland into concentric rings that require progressively higher levels of protection. “As you get closer to the inner circle, you’re trying to make that tighter and tighter,” says Tim Horner, a managing director at global security firm Kroll.” source

Nearly every liberal in the entertainment industry decries the Second Amendment, bashes capitalism and extols Islam. But when it comes to keeping themselves safe and secure, they want every weapon known to man to be at their disposal protecting them and their families.

The insanity of Liberalism is that they despise they freedom in which they prosper, and object to means by which that freedom is accomplished and secured. Jack Nicholson had it right in “A Few Good Men”…they can’t handle the truth.

Then why would they sign a treaty?

That would mean that the handful of “watchmen on the wall” would be silenced and/or prosecuted unjustly. Some of you are aware that we post a “Question Of The Day” on Facebook each day. Recently one of these questions received more comments than any other we’ve ever posted by a wide margin.

It concerned a woman’s frustration because in a recent conversation her friends confirmed that they believe in an any moment rapture but then went on to tell her their plans for the next 10-20 years, what they expect to do when they retire, what kind of career they hope their children will have, and how they can’t wait to have grand children. She felt like they were just paying lip service to the nearness of the rapture and were more focused on their long term hopes and plans for this world.

Does Obama Love America or Islam?

Can we question the man who frees terrorists?

Love, of a person or of a country, is not judged by what we say. It is judged by what we do.

Every politician with ambition claims to love America. Most only love themselves. Some love other things. No one can know what is it in Obama’s heart, which is why the media’s shrill demands that Scott Walker affirm Obama’s love for America are silly and cynical, but we can certainly follow his passions.

Transfer Of Wealth?

Q. Psalm 105:37 states, “He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes.”  For years, the Word of Faith movement has taught, and now some Grace preachers are teaching, of a great end time transfer of the wealth of the wicked into the hands of the just.  It seems that what they are saying is, that before the rapture, every member of the Body of Christ will be financially wealthy, and physically, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically healthy.  I’ve been waiting since 1984 for this to take place, and I have yet to see it.  Is it possibly still on the horizon, or is this a misinterpretation of scripture?

Will The Rapture Precede Ezekiel 38?

Q. I have a question about the Ezekiel 38-39 war. This is a little confusing. The Lord intervenes on behalf of His land and His people and they realize His intervention has kept them from being destroyed and yet go on to build the temple. It appears that even the nations recognize that the Lord’s intervention has spared Israel, but they still do not recognize Jesus as their Messiah. Is that correct? And will the rapture precede Ezekiel’s war?

Andy Stanley: Even if you don’t believe that Jesus is the Son of God, you will have a better life by following his teachings

Polemics Report

Editors Note. This article was originally written and posted at Jeff Maples Blog and is being reprinted here with permission.

Remember the old days where churches had steeples and stained glass windows? Remember when there were pews and a choir that sang edifying hymns to our Lord? Remember those days when people wore suits and ties and ladies wore dresses and heels trying to present their best to our God? Remember those days when children used to go to Sunday School classes and learn the Bible and families went to service and the pastor preached a sermon? “Well,” says Andy Stanley, “the greatest thing about all of this, is we don’t have to do that anymore,” he proclaims in his latest sermon series, “Brand New.”

Stanley is making it abundantly clear that he has no qualms about changes that are being made in today’s churches, and he’s proud of it.

Os Guinness on the Parachurch Movement

The Reformed Reader

The Last Christian on Earth: Uncover the Enemy's Plot to Undermine the Church As some of our readers know, Os Guinness is one of my favorite modern authors.  His work is not trendy and his books are not typically all very similar (as is the case with some other modern Christian authors’ books).  One of Guinness’ books that stick out in my mind is The Last Christian On Earth.  This book is a modern take on C. S. Lewis’ classic, The Screwtape Letters.

In Memorandum 7, the Deputy Director [the church’s chief enemy] writes to a subordinate to discuss how modernity and relevance will help them destroy the church.  He specifically targets the parachurch movement in one section.  Now, before being too critical of what follows, be sure to pick up on the nuances of the discussion.  I was going to edit it for length, but it was too difficult to do while still capturing the logic.  (Note: my underlines…

Study: creating jobs in poor countries doesn’t reduce terrorism

Remember last week when the Obama administration told us that terrorism is caused by poverty and joblessness?

Here’s the working paper, authored by a Harvard University scholar from the John F. Kennedy School of Government.

And here’s the abstract:

This article provides an empirical investigation of the determinants of terrorism at the country level. In contrast with the previous literature on this subject, which focuses on transnational terrorism only, I use a new measure of terrorism that encompasses both domestic and transnational terrorism. In line with the results of some recent studies, this article shows that terrorist risk is not significantly higher for poorer countries, once the effects of other country-specific characteristics such as the level of political freedom are taken into account. Political freedom is shown to explain…

10 Reasons for Biblical Literacy

Steak and a Bible

The Christian church today (as it always has been) is buffeted by false doctrines. This is no surprise, since the New Testament repeatedly warned us this would happen. One of the roots I see is the astonishing level of biblical illiteracy even among those who identify as Christians.

Fifteen Reasons Our Churches Are Less Evangelistic Today

By almost any metric, the churches in our nation are much less evangelistic today than they were in the recent past. In my own denomination, we are reaching non-Christians only half as effectively as we were 50 years ago (we measure membership to annual baptisms). The trend is disturbing.

We certainly see the pattern in the early church where “every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47). In too many of our churches today, the congregations are reaching no one for Christ in the course of an entire year.

The Poll

I conducted an unscientific Twitter poll recently to see what church leaders and church members thought of this trend, My specific question was: “Why do you think many churches aren’t as evangelistic as they once were?”

The responses arrived quickly and in great numbers, both in public tweets and in direct messages to me. Indeed, I was still receiving responses four days after I sent my Twitter question.

The Results

The response was highly informative for me. Here are the top fifteen responses listed in order of frequency:

  1. Christians have no sense of urgency to reach lost people.
  2. Many Christians and church members do not befriend and spend time with lost persons.
  3. Many Christians and church members are lazy and apathetic.
  4. We are more known for what we are against than what we are for.
  5. Our churches have an ineffective evangelistic strategy of “you come” rather than “we go.”
  6. Many church members think that evangelism is the role of the pastor and paid staff.
  7. Church membership today is more about getting my needs met rather than reaching the lost.
  8. Church members are in a retreat mode as culture becomes more worldly and unbiblical.
  9. Many church members don’t really believe that Christ is the only way of salvation.
  10. Our churches are no longer houses of prayer equipped to reach the lost.
  11. Churches have lost their focus on making disciples who will thus be equipped and motivated to reach the lost.
  12. Christians do not want to share the truth of the gospel for fear they will offend others. Political correctness is too commonplace even among Christians.
  13. Most churches have unregenerate members who have not received Christ themselves.
  14. Some churches have theological systems that do not encourage evangelism.
  15. Our churches have too many activities; they are too busy to do the things that really matter.

So What Is the Solution?

I received hundreds of responses to this poll. There is obviously widespread concern about the lack of evangelism in our churches and among Christians.

First, let me hear what you think of these responses. Second, and more importantly, offer some solutions to the challenges. Make certain those solutions include what you can do as much as what they should do. I look forward to hearing from you.

The Divine Acceptilatio: God Accepts Your Imperfection (Mark Jones)

Does an infinitely holy and righteous God accept imperfection from his people? Thankfully, he does. This is a central truth of our Christian living, though in some respects either ignored or rejected by some in the church today. Understanding God’s acceptance of our (very) imperfect obedience will keep us from despair and also exalt his fatherly graciousness.
How does he accept such imperfect obedience? Consider the following:

Pastor, lead the flock.

Pastors often ask me how they can be more effective in reaching their city. This is what I tell them. Ask your congregation how many are concerned for their city. There will be a forest of hands. Ask how many are praying daily for the city. Many hands will appear. Then ask how many are sharing their faith on a regular basis. Give a gauge by asking how many have verbally spoken of the way of salvation to twelve people in the preceding twelve months. About 5 percent will raise their hands.

I once attended an interdenominational prayer meeting, where I could tell who attended a particular church simply by the way they prayed. I could recognize phrases of their pastors in their prayers. It confirmed that congregations imitate their pastor. This is why I would advise a pastor to join a secular health club, or a golf club, or somewhere where he will rub shoulders with the ungodly. I encourage him to regularly tell his congregation of his witnessing experiences and to share his fears—to show not only that he “condescends” to witness to the unsaved, but that he has the same fears they have. In this way he can “lead the flock of God,” and it won’t be long before they imitate him.

Weak Faith, True Faith!

Christians should desire a strong faith in Christ and his promises; it is biblical for God’s people to pray and strive for robust faith in the Lord. However, our faith is imperfect since we are not yet fully sanctified. We struggle with doubts, fears, questions, and sometimes we lack assurance. Thankfully, the Bible doesn’t teach that we need perfectly strong faith in Christ to be justified and saved. Thankfully, even an imperfect and weak faith saves because it trusts in a perfect and strong Savior. Thomas Brooks said it this way:

Sin: Can’t Live With It, Won’t Live Without It

Anger does not own me. Christ owns me. Lust does not motivate me. Christ motivates me. Jealousy does not get the final victory. Christ gets the final victory. The cross stands there as assurance that I have been saved from its power and will some day be fully and finally delivered from its presence. Sin is in me but I am in Christ.

Inerrancy, Infallibility and Canadian Mennonites

Now the quick thinkers will point out that simply abandoning the term inerrancy does not lead automatically down some sort of “slippery slope,” and that is true. The problem is not theterm, but rather the concept. Once the “inspired” message of the Bible is allowed to override the actual “inspired” text, the scripture simply becomes a slave to whatever consensus dominates the culture in which the Bible finds itself. The testimony of history in Canada is incredibly consistent.

What Makes Millennials Stay in Church

“If you had to ask for a mixture of things that overall are correlated with strong Christian beliefs and strong Christian orthopraxy, you’d be looking at making sure mom and dad developed a relationship with their teens, … that they’re regular participants in a local church, and they practice home-based, parent-led discipleship,” said Brian Ray, the researcher behind the survey and the president of the National Home Education Research Institute in Salem, Ore. “I don’t want to pretend it’s a formula. I’m just saying, statistically, there’s a pattern.”

God Doesn’t Do Hollywood Endings

The truth is, 99.9% of the time we have no idea what God is up to. He is doing things in us and through us and around us that we could never think, grasp, or imagine. He is the grand storyteller, penning a script that spans thousands of years, and he is writing each of us into his beautiful story arc. He is weaving our joys and heartaches, gladness and grief, clarity and confusion, into his grand, glorious story.

In Bondage to Pornography

One would not allow alcoholics to have the last word on liquor licensing laws or crack addicts on drug policy. Yet when it comes to sexual morality, that is the kind of world in which we now live. The availability of pornography and the near universality of its consumption are today facts of human existence, at least in the West, and are likely to remain so. That means that moral thinking is thus at the mercy of an industry whose interests do not lie in promoting the common good unless that common good is understood in terms of unfettered sexual license.

Florist Rejects AG’s Offer, Stands Courageously on Principle, and Risks Everything

“Your offer reveals that you don’t really understand me or what this conflict is all about. It’s about freedom, not money. I certainly don’t relish the idea of losing my business, my home, and everything else that your lawsuit threatens to take from my family, but my freedom to honor God in doing what I do best is more important. Washington’s constitution guarantees us “freedom of conscience in all matters of religious sentiment.” I cannot sell that precious freedom. You are asking me to walk in the way of a well-known betrayer, one who sold something of infinite worth for 30 pieces of silver. That is something I will not do.”

Do We Deserve Heaven?

Religious people are always profoundly disturbed when they discover that they are not, and never have been, true Christians. Does all of their religion count for nothing? Those hours in church, hours spent doing good things, hours involved in religious activity—do they not count for something in the presence of God? Do they not enable me to say: “Look at what I have done. Don’t I deserve heaven?”

Everyday Faith: Older Men, Your Best Days Are Not Behind You

by Pastor J.D.

This is the first of a four-part series on “everyday faith,” based on the instructions Paul gives in Titus 2:1–6. Gospel-centered folks are often allergic to instructions, so it’s important to keep in mind that Paul lays these out as our response to the gospel—not as a way to gain acceptance. “Because of what God has done for you,” Paul says, “your lives will look different.”

First up: older men. Paul says, “Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love, and in endurance” (Titus 2:2).

What exactly counts as an “old man” in Paul’s book? Since the life expectancy of the ancient world was so much lower than today, the threshold for “old” would have been quite a bit lower, too. I like to think it was around age 42. (And yes, I’m 41 years old.) Regardless of the actual age, Paul is aiming at temptations particular to those with much of their life behind them.

Rob Bell, Gay Marriage, and the Movie Tombstone

by Michael Kruger

It seems that Rob Bell and Oprah Winfrey are pretty good friends these days. Bell has appeared on Oprah’s show numerous times, and just recently appeared on her “Super Soul Sunday” episode over Valentine’s Day weekend. His appearance was designed to promote his new book, The ZimZum of Love: A New Way of Understanding Marriage (HarperOne: 2014).

An Irrelevant Church

Rob Bell, former pastor and now host of the “Rob Bell Show” on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN television network, is now maintaining that a church that doesn’t support same-sex marriage is irrelevant. Bell had earlier questioned the existence of hell in his 2011 book “Love Wins.”

Bell made the comments on an episode of Winfrey’s “Super Soul Sunday” where he appeared with his wife to talk about religion and spirituality.

He called the church’s acceptance of gay marriage “inevitable,” and that the reason it should be accepted is because loneliness “is not good for the world.”

“I think culture is already there,” Bell continued, “and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense.”

So let me get this straight:

For a church to be relevant, it must not only embrace homoerotic behavior, but jettison the Scriptures as any kind of authoritative guide to this or any other cultural issue. The new apologetic is personal fulfillment. In this case, no one should be lonely, so whatever fills the loneliness gap should be affirmed.

Sometimes I don’t know where to begin.

But I’ll give it a try.

Homosexuality and the Great Falling Away

by Bill Muehlenberg

Is this the time of a great falling away as warned about so long ago? Christians will know what I am referring to here. The word apostasy has to do with falling away, and the New Testament often warns us about this. And it also speaks about some hard core rebellion and apostasy occurring before the Lord comes again.

Communists Taught Science is Incompatible with Religion

by Michael

As I mentioned in the previous blog entry, one of the core arguments of the New Atheist movement appears to be recycled communist propaganda. Here’s some more evidence along those lines.

The following excerpt was written in 1963 and published in Lituanus, which is “an English language journal dedicated to Lithuanian and Baltic art, history, language, literature and related cultural topics.” The article is entitled, “Communism’s Struggle with Religion in Lithuania.” Understandably, the author did not want to use his/her real name.

Watch Your Tongue

by Stephen Bedard

A message based on James 3:1-12.

I love to have opportunities to preach. It is such an honour to be able to dig into the Scriptures and to build bridges between the original context and our present setting. And yet what passage am I assigned? I get to preach about the danger of the words we speak and how easy it is for us to say the wrong thing. Not only that, this passage says those who teach, which would include preaching sermons, will be held to a much higher standard and those who do it wrong will face judgment. So basically I get to preach a sermon that reminds me that if I do it wrong, I am in trouble, not just from council, but from God himself. Remind me to thank our pastor.

Having said that, this is an important passage that is incredibly relevant for us today. There are some parts of the Bible that you wonder where the application is, but this passage is one that quickly reveals things have not changed at all from James’ day to our own. What I am going to try, very, very carefully, is to understand what James was saying and to look at some practical ways for us to apply this to our life.

SJI Forum: Living in 50 Shades of Grey (Presentation Videos)

On February 10, 2015 the Sam James Institute of The Summit Church hosted a forum on “Living in 50 Shades of Grey.” Our desire was to help Christians become more comfortable talking about sex and sexuality so that media industries like Hollywood and the internet do not have a monopoly on sex education in our culture.

We believe the church has a compelling message about love and sexuality that is superior to the dominant cultural themes of disposable relationships, objectification of people, and idolization of youth. We believe that the release of the movie 50 Shades of Grey was an important time to contrast what God offers with what is becoming popular in our culture. However, we also acknowledge that the church has not always done a good job of communicating God’s desire for sexuality.

Our goal in this forum was to do equip those who listen to these materials to become sexually mature Christians who can engage their culture winsomely and non-defensively on one of the most powerful subjects in our culture – sex.

“He went to Jared”: Evangelicals going to Rome

Jared engagement rings

There is a television commercial that we are “treated” to every year around Christmas time. Jared Jewelry Galleria wants to present itself as an upscale jewelry store, the only place that you should consider buying your fine jewelry, especially diamond engagement rings. They want you to know that they consider themselves the be-all, end-all, pinnacle of jewelry. They believe there is no other name in jewelry. Once the gal knows “he went to Jared,” she melts, giggles, and the deal is sealed. Or proposal. Whatever.

We should start a new meme. “He went to Rome.”

Pope ring. “He went to the Vatican”

Over the past few years, when receiving the call from Rome to come to the Vatican, we have seen leaders who call themselves Christian or evangelical, giggle and melt like the girls in the Jared commercials. The Vatican presents itself as the only place that you should consider buying your religion. They want you to know that they consider themselves at the Vatican Galleria the be-all, end-all, pinnacle of religion. They believe there is no other name in religion. Once they know “he went to Rome” Christian leaders melt, sigh, and that seals the deal.

Here are some ‘Christian’ leaders who in the recent past have gone to Rome to meet with the Pope.

The topic was marriage.

Rick Warren
Russell Moore
NT Wright

About the ecumenical meeting, Russell Moore said,

But all of us in this room share at least one thing in common,” said Moore. “We recognize that marriage and family is a matter of public importance, not just of our various theological and ecclesial distinctive communities,”

The topic was unity.

Joel Osteen
Mormon Senator Mike Lee
(Disgraced) CA pastor Tim Timmons

As to the above trio’s meeting,

“The ecumenical meeting was a part of Pope Francis’ on-going efforts to bring unity among Christians, previously stating in public remarks, “Divisions among us, but also divisions among the communities: evangelical Christians, orthodox Christians, Catholic Christians, but why divided? We must try to bring about unity.”

The topic was (evangelical) Protestant-Catholic unity in Jesus’ name.

James and Betty Robison Beth Moore’s mentor and broadcasts weekly on LifeToday
Kenneth Copeland
Reverend Geoff Tunnicliff, CEO of the World Evangelical Alliance
Rev. Brian Stiller, from the World Evangelical Alliance
Rev. Thomas Schirrmacher, from the World Evangelical Alliance
Rev. John Arnott and his wife, Carol, co-founders of Partners for Harvest ministries in Toronto, Canada.

As to the above ‘evangelicals’ meeting,

It was “an unprecedented moment between evangelicals and the Catholic Pope.”

The topic was unity in Christ’s name:

Pastor Giovanni Traettino
350 Pentecostals

Of the above meeting held in Caserta, Italy

Francis is particularly keen on establishing good relationships with evangelicals, convinced that even though disagreements exist over doctrine, it is still possible to love Christ and witness to him together.

Portuguese First Lady Maria Cavaco Silva kisses the ring of Pope Benedict XVI
while Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva stands by May 11 2010.

In addition to the deeds of self-proclaimed ‘evangelical’ leaders going across the world to meet with Pope Francis, are the number of ‘evangelical’ leaders who ally with Rome in word.

Spoken this month by Pastor Robert Jeffress, senior pastor of First Baptist Dallas, a Southern Baptist Convention affiliated church, to Fox News host Bill O’Reilly Friday, February 6, 2015, about President Barack Obama’s controversial remarks at the 63rd annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington and Muslims extremism, is the following startling declaration-

“And I believe that Christians ought to be on the forefront of fighting this evil, and this is unmitigated evil … burning people alive … and that is why tonight, I am calling on Christians everywhere, Catholics and Protestants together, to join with our Jewish friends and demand that this president do whatever is necessary, including boots on the ground, to eradicate this cancer of ISIS and radical Islam before it destroys us.” [emphasis mine]

Sadly, Catholics are not Christians. Yet sentiments like Jeffress’ are becoming commonplace. Calls for partnerships, pleas for unity, and combining our efforts are the order of the day. And not from fringe sects but high-end supposedly conservative leaders.

The question is, if a religion or individual calls on the name of Jesus, is that all there needs to be to accept them as a brother? No. There are different Jesuses and there is This Same Jesus. (Acts 1:11). Here is John MacArthur in Declaring and Defending the Deity of Christ

If you’re believing in a false Jesus, you’re damned. You preach any other Christ than the true Christ, you’re damned, that’s Galatians 1. If you fail to love the true Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Corinthians 16, you’re cursed. We have to be loving and believing in the true Christ, not a false Christ, not a Christ of our own imagination, not some sentimental Jesus, not the Jesus of liberalism, not the Jesus of liberation theology, not the Jesus of Mormonism, not the Jesus of Islam, not the Jesus of private invention. Now, all false religions—listen–all false religions reject the true Jesus Christ of the Bible. They all do. That’s what constitutes them as false religions to start with. From Islam to Mormonism, if you want to go from something that is non-Christian to something that calls itself Christian, they all reject the true Christ. But, they all honor a false Christ.

But can’t we all just get along, even partner briefly for a one-off? For Jesus’ sake? No. MacArthur again-

Billy Graham met with Pope John Paul II in 1993.

It is ludicrous to imagine that Christians and Jews and Muslims, or Christians and anyone else in any other religion, can get together. It’s impossible because all other systems of religion are against Christ. When that effort is made, the only thing that ever results is the loss of true Christianity. ~John MacArthur

That document circulated 20 years ago was an overt, visible leap of this dastardly move toward Rome. It was called Evangelicals and Catholics Together document, 1994. MacArthur explains why we do not partner with Rome, or any false religion, even briefly for a ‘common’ mission.

A recent document entitled “Evangelicals and Catholics Together: The Christian Mission in the Third Millennium,” signed by a number of prominent evangelicals, has neglected the wide doctrinal breach that separates evangelicalism and Roman Catholicism. It declares the unity of the two participating groups, emphasizes their common faith, allows for doctrinal differences, but states that the two nevertheless have a common mission. A fatal flaw in the document is its assumption that a common mission is possible in spite of the doctrinal differences.

Religion News Service did a 20-year retrospective on the document:

Evangelicals and Catholics Together marks 20 years, Feb 2014

(RNS) When evangelicals and Catholics set aside centuries of mutual suspicion 20 years ago, the idea was fairly simple: Even if we can’t always work together, at least let’s not work against each other.

But that’s wrong. We are working against Rome, and every other principality that comes against the faith and against the faithful of the true Jesus Christ.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

We DO fight against the evil forces. We never stop. Why?

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, (Colossians 1:13)

We do not partner with Rome, or any false religion’s leaders, or accept any part of their faith itself, not even for pragmatic reasons. Not even for reasons that we ourselves deem to be ‘good.’ If that was acceptable, Paul and Silas would have allowed the demon-possessed slave girl to keep following them and shouting-

These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation. (Acts 16:17)

Was there anything wrong with what she said? No, technically it was accurate. Paul and Silas were serving God, who is most high, and their message was salvation. All true. Just as Rome’s message is that Jesus came to seek and save the lost, or that Jesus is the incarnated God, or that He is Messiah…none of those statements or beliefs are wrong. What is wrong is the source.

Paul did not need the dominion of hell and darkness to proclaim Light. It would be hypocritical in the extreme to say that hell is bad- except when it helps us, except when it’s convenient. Never! We never partner with hell when it’s easy, or convenient, or helpful. Because it never is.

It would have been insensitive in the extreme to mourn over this poor girl’s bodily use by demons to sell fortunes for profit, and then cravenly use that same poor girl’s body to proclaim the message of the cross.

From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. (James 3:10)

And the most important reason is that we do not partner with evil to bring good. God forbade such partnerships and blessed the congregation that stays apart from them. Even when satan’s throne is set in the city.

I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. (To the church at Pergamum, Revelation 2:13)

Test these things, stay true to the purity of the bright Gospel of the true Shepherd!

Gold actually is dull. Fool’s Gold in raw form reflects substantially more light and is often mistaken for gold. But it isn’t.

All that glisters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life hath sold
But my outside to behold:
Gilded tombs do worms enfold.
Had you been as wise as bold,
Young in limbs, in judgement old
Your answer had not been inscroll’d
Fare you well, your suit is cold
Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare

Hold fast to the name of Jesus, the Jesus whose identity is specifically described in the bible. Not the Mormon Jesus. Not the Islamic Jesus/Isa. Not the Coptic Jesus. Not the Catholic Jesus.

And for the sake of all that is holy, don’t go to Jared Rome. All that glitters is not gold.

(Top, gold. Bottom, fool’s gold AKA pyrite)

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)

One Ring to rule them all,
One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them

GTY Blog: Evangelical Syncretism: Therapeutic Confusion

Code: B150223

by Jeremiah Johnson

The language of therapy has a stranglehold on our culture. Children don’t lie anymore, they tell stories. Serial adulterers have been re-branded as sex addicts. Drunkenness is now an alcohol disorder—in fact, addiction itself is treated like a disease. Even the gross perversion of pedophilia is listed as a psychiatric disorder in the ever-expanding Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).

In short, the world’s pattern for dealing with sin is to diagnose away the guilt, or redefine wickedness as something more innocuous. You’re not a sinner, you’re a victim. And regardless of who or what is victimizing you, you’re not to blame for your flaws and faults.

Tragically, the church is following that thinking.

Today, psychological terminology shapes the way our culture talks about life, and that same terminology has infected the church. This psychological assault has major implications for biblical authority and gospel purity. One prominent professor of a major Christian seminary argues:

It is time for Christian sages—psychologically informed pastors, theologians, counselors, therapists as well as psychologists—to speak wisdom into the mind and heart of the church concerning its mandate to explore human nature.[1]John Coe, “Why Biblical Counseling is Unbiblical, or Speaking Psychology Gently into the Church,” Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) Western Division Annual Meeting, 1991.

The only mandate that Jesus gave the church is the Great Commission. The gospel message is not concerned with exploring human nature, it is the remedy for human nature (cf. Genesis 6:5; John 3:19–20; Romans 1:18–20; Romans 3:10–23). What needs further exploration?

But with the Freudian view of man we don’t need salvation, we need healing. We don’t need to be transformed into the likeness of Christ, we need fulfillment. The self-affirming language of psychology has changed the way we talk about sin, the gospel, and the life of the believer. With a few choice words, we’ve turned the life-transforming truth of the gospel into nothing more than a motivational speech.

More than twenty years ago, John MacArthur saw the threat that psychology posed to the church. He warned believers not to give credibility to the secular pseudo-science.

Psychology is no more a science than the atheistic evolutionary theory upon which it is based. Like theistic evolution, “Christian psychology” is an attempt to harmonize two inherently contradictory systems of thought. Modern psychology and the Bible cannot be blended without serious compromise to or utter abandonment of the principle of Scripture’s sufficiency.[2]Our Sufficiency in Christ (Dallas, Texas: Word Publishing, 1991) p. 66

At the time, pastors and church leaders were being cowed into surrendering aspects of their leadership to “professionals” who could supposedly better address the emotional and psychological needs of believers.

Evangelical psychological clinics have sprung up. Though almost all of them claim to offer biblical counsel, most merely dispense secular psychology disguised in spiritual terminology. Moreover, they are removing the counseling ministry from its proper arena in the church body and conditioning Christians to think of themselves as incompetent to counsel. Many pastors, feeling inadequate and perhaps afraid of possible malpractice litigation, are perfectly willing to let “professionals” take over what used to be seen as a vital pastoral responsibility. Too many have bought the lie that a crucial realm of wisdom exists outside Scripture and one’s relationship to Jesus Christ, and that some idea or technique from that extrabiblical realm holds the real key to helping people with their deep problems.[3]Our Sufficiency in Christ, p. 57-58

Fast forward two decades and it’s no longer a question of surrender. Instead, church leaders have embraced the therapeutic culture and adopted the kind of terminology that appeals to a generation of victims.

Most celebrity pastors today won’t talk about sin or repentance or righteousness. Sermons—well, not sermons, talks—center on life’s journey, fulfillment, and relationship counseling. Christ is a cool guy who set a great example for us. The Holy Spirit is little more than an enabler. And a whole list of topics—basically anything that would confront any of society’s favorite sins—is all but forbidden.

In his book, Christless Christianity, Michael Horton describes the vacuous tendencies of modern evangelicalism:

We are getting dangerously close to the place in everyday American church life where the Bible is mined for “relevant” quotes but is largely irrelevant on its own terms; God is used as a personal resource rather than known, worshiped and trusted; Jesus Christ is a coach with a good game plan for our victory rather than a Savior Who has already achieved it for us; salvation is more a matter of having our best life now than being saved from God’s judgment by God Himself; and the Holy Spirit is an electrical outlet we can plug into for the power we need to become all that we can be.[4]Christless Christianity: The Alternative Gospel of the American Church (Grand Rapids, Michigan: Baker Books, 2008), 19.

While many in the church may be passively capitulating to those tendencies, the end result is still the same: The authority of God’s Word is neutered and the gospel watered down to an easy-to-swallow self-help message.

We need to reassert the prophetic voice of the church, and make loud and clear the hard truths of Scripture. We need to cut off the influence of those who would soften or dull the gospel, and vigorously proclaim the only truth that offers lasting hope, peace, and fulfillment.

And we need to remember, as John MacArthur wrote all those years ago, that the things that separate us from this therapeutic culture are the very things that are most valuable in our efforts to win the men and women in it to faith and repentance:

True psychology (“the study of the soul”) can be done only by Christians, since only Christians have the resources for the understanding and the transformation of the soul. Since the secular discipline of psychology is based on godless assumptions and evolutionary foundations, it is capable of dealing with people only superficially and only on the temporal level. . . . If one is a truly Christian psychologist, he must be doing soul work in the realm of the deep things of the Word and the Spirit—not fooling around in the shallows of behavior modification. Why should a believer choose to do behavior modification when he has the tools for spiritual transformation (like a surgeon wreaking havoc with a butter knife instead of using a scalpel)? The most skilled counselor is the one who most carefully, prayerfully, and faithfully applies the divine sanctification—shaping another into the image of Jesus Christ.[5]Our Sufficiency in Christ, p. 58-60
