Virulently Anti-American: 81 Percent Of Russians Now View The United States Negatively

Russians view the United States much more unfavorably today than they did during the end of the Cold War era. As you will read about below, an astounding 81 percent of all Russians now view the United States negatively, and only 13 percent have a positive opinion of this country. In all of the years when Russians have been surveyed on their attitudes toward the U.S., they have never been this negative. But of course Americans generally do not view the Russian people unfavorably. So why is this happening? Well, it all comes down to the actions of the Obama administration. The Russian people are convinced that U.S. organizations organized, funded and armed the rebels that violently overthrew the democratically-elected Ukrainian government. And once it was overthrown, the Obama administration immediately recognized the rebels as the legitimate government of Ukraine. And now most Russians are convinced that the U.S. government is trying to promote a similar revolution inside Russia. In recent years, the Russian people have become increasingly nationalistic, and at this point they view U.S. meddling in their affairs as a direct threat to their way of life. Even while most Americans are extremely apathetic about what is going on over in Russia, an increasingly large chunk of the Russian population is angry enough to go to war. (Read More…)

7 Signs That A Stock Market Peak Is Happening Right Now

Is this the end of the last great run for the U.S. stock market? Are we witnessing classic “peaking behavior” that is similar to what occurred just before other major stock market crashes? Throughout 2014 and for the early stages of 2015, stocks have been on quite a tear. Even though the overall U.S. economy continues to be deeply troubled, we have seen the Dow, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq set record after record. But no bull market lasts forever – particularly one that has no relation to economic reality whatsoever. This false bubble of financial prosperity has been enjoyable, and even I wish that it could last much longer. But there comes a time when we all must face reality, and the cold, hard facts are telling us that this party is about to end. The following are 7 signs that a stock market peak is happening right now… (Read More….)

Hillary Email Scandal Catches Obama in Transparency Untruth

Hillary Clinton has addressed her private email scandal so far only with a lone tweet, although she reportedly plans to publicly address the issue today. But Barack Obama has already taken plenty of flak on the subject. Over the weekend, CBS News asked Obama when he learned of Clinton’s private account. “The same time everybody else learned it — through news reports,” Obama replied. “The policy of my administration is to encourage transparency, which is why my emails, the BlackBerry I carry around, all those records are available and archived.” But that little untruth was undermined by Obama’s spokesman, Josh Earnest, who admitted Monday that Obama emailed Hillary at her private account. Earnest told reporters, “The president, as I think many people expected, did over the course of his first several years in office trade emails with his secretary of state. I would not describe the number of emails as large, but they did have the occasion to email each other.” Unlike Technology subcommittee member Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Obama knows how to use email; his oft-repeated story of incompetence can’t help him in this instance.

Social Security Continuing to Implement Amnesty Actions

It was the logical next step. If illegal immigrants are getting Social Security numbers, then they are going to collect benefits. Stephen Goss, chief actuary for the Social Security Administration, wrote a letter to Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) claiming that by 2017 some 16,000 illegal immigrants amnestied by Barack Obama’s executive action would start receiving Social Security benefits. Furthermore, Goss admitted the agency is ignoring the injunction blocking the implementation of Obama’s executive decrees. In the letter, Goss wrote, “Based on the best advice and counsel we have gotten, we’re working on the assumption that these [mass amnesty actions] will persist. Most indications we seem to get are that it’s likely that this will get back on track, with some delay.” This is the administration that has 6.5 million active Social Security numbers for people 112 years old or older. Put another way, the administration is rife with bad record keeping, fraud and a host of illegal immigrants who are using stolen numbers to stay in the country. More…

McConnell Promises to Raise Debt Ceiling

Raise the debt ceiling? No problem, says Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. “I made it very clear after the November election that we’re certainly not going to shut down the government or default on the national debt,” McConnell said Sunday. “We will figure some way to handle that. And, hopefully, it might carry some other important legislation that we can agree on in connection with it.” At issue is, yet again, the legal limit on the nation’s debt. Last year, lawmakers opted for a “debt ceiling holiday” instead of a specific statutory limit increase, but the holiday ends March 15. The national debt stands at nearly $18.2 trillion, up from $10.6 trillion at Barack Obama’s inauguration, but it’s still not enough. Instead of putting up a fight after gaining control of both chambers of Congress, McConnell said the GOP would rather just play nice. It’s not that shutting down the government is the desirable strategy every time Republicans disagree with Obama, but they have repeatedly shown deathly fear of the very idea. Obama knows that, which only strengthens his resolve and makes each of these fights more of a farce. Republicans gained exactly nothing last time, and now they appear to be chickening out in advance.

SCOTUS Upholds Religious Liberty in ObamaCare Case

Before the Hobby Lobby case, the court system told the University of Notre Dame it had to comply with ObamaCare’s contraception mandate — even if doing so violated the Catholic university’s collective conscience. But in a ruling by the Supreme Court Monday, the case was sent back to the lower court with instructions that the court must decide the case based on the Hobby Lobby ruling. Mark Rienzi, senior counsel of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, said, “This is a major blow to the federal government’s contraception mandate. For the past year, the Notre Dame decision has been the centerpiece of the government’s effort to force religious ministries to violate their beliefs or pay fines to the IRS. As with the Supreme Court’s decisions in Little Sisters of the Poor and Hobby Lobby, this is a strong signal that the Supreme Court will ultimately reject the government’s narrow view of religious liberty.” The court is willing to buck the Obama administration on ObamaCare for the sake of religious Liberty. Hopefully, it will, in a similar manner, decide to buck politics in its King v. Burwell ruling. More…

Under NV Law, Gun Carrying Homes Can’t Give Foster Care

Brian and Valerie Wilson are at the forefront of the effort to change foster care policies in Nevada. The couple — who started carrying handguns after an attempted home invasion — wanted to become foster care parents, but they were denied because Nevada rejects applications from couples if they have gun permits. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, assemblywoman Michele Fiore, who cosponsored a bill changing the foster care polices, said, “I don’t know if some of my peers have toured Child Haven or have been in Child Haven, but we have children in need of great foster care, and we have had people that are law-abiding citizens that have gotten their background checks, that have their CCWs, literally denied to foster a child because they have a concealed-weapons permit.” It’s an unjust policy. Couples like the Wilsons are law-abiding citizens exercising their Second Amendment rights, yet the foster care system rules that gun ownership is somehow less lawful. More…

Does the Ethanol Mandate Include Singing Its Praises?

Republicans pledge allegiance

A number of potential Republican presidential candidates descended on the Iowa Ag Summit this past weekend to shore up their bona fides with the state’s agricultural industry. Unfortunately, when it came to the subject of ethanol and the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), most of the White House hopefuls resorted to pandering to voters rather than speaking truth about failed policy.

The hard-charging environmental lobby rallies around corn-based ethanol as a fuel alternative because ecofascists have great faith that it’s better for the environment (spoiler alert: it’s not). Farmers, particularly those in Iowa, embrace the policy mandating ethanol as a fuel additive because it raises demand for corn and puts more money in their pockets.

The environmental and agricultural lobbies have been strong enough to keep the RFS alive even after a number of scientists and economists have disproven the effectiveness and benefits of ethanol.

Sure, ethanol combustion in automobiles does produce less CO2 than fossil fuel combustion, which gives climate change fanatics warm fuzzies. However, growing all the corn necessary to meet Washington’s arbitrary mandate (and its subsequent effect on food prices), along with the intensive production process of manufacturing ethanol, heavily outweighs any benefits we experience through ethanol use. And that’s not to mention the fuel’s destructiveness for engines, or that CO2 is not a pollutant.

An Associated Press investigation into ethanol production revealed that, in their rush to clear land to plant corn, farmers “wiped out millions of acres of conservation land, destroyed habitat and polluted water supplies.” Wetlands were devastated, and billions of pounds of fertilizers contaminated rivers. Had manufacturers of any other product taken these actions, the Obama White House would be calling for investigations and fines. Instead, the administration plows ahead with current policy.

And as Mark Alexander wrote last year, “More than 90% of our nation’s corn crop went toward feeding people and livestock in the year 2000, with less than 5% of the crop going toward ethanol. In 2013, however, a whopping 40% went toward ethanol. To illustrate this grossly inefficient use of our natural resources, the amount of grain required to fill a 25-gallon automotive fuel tank with ethanol is enough grain to feed one person for an entire year.”

Nevertheless, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad played the role of Captain Obvious when he stated that any candidate who publicly opposes the ethanol mandate would probably not win the Iowa caucus next year. In truth, it’s tough to stand in front of a crowd of potential supporters and tell them you are against their favorite policy. But no one ever said having the courage of your convictions was easy.

Almost all of the major GOP White House contenders failed the conviction test in Iowa.

Rick Perry said, “I don’t think you pull the RFS [Renewable Fuel Standard] out and discriminate against the RFS and leave all these other subsidies.” In other words, subsidies are good because subsidies exist.

Chris Christie and Lindsey Graham voiced full-throated support for the RFS, and Mike Huckabee claimed ethanol was good for national security policy by reducing dependence on foreign imports. Rick Santorum argued ethanol “creates jobs in small-town and rural America, which is where people are hurting.”

Even Scott Walker, who opposed ethanol in 2006, said that while he is opposed to government intervention he will support the ethanol mandate. “Right now we don’t have a free and open marketplace,” he asserted, so why not keep the mandate going? He did add that eventually there will be “no need to have a standard,” but his squishiness was palpable.

Jeb Bush was less objectionable, but also ducked making any substantive statements. “The markets are ultimately going to have to decide this,” he said, though he equivocated by refusing to set a firm deadline for phasing out the RFS.

Only Ted Cruz managed to get it right. “I recognize that this is a gathering of a lot of folks where the answer you’d like me to give is, ‘I’m for the RFS, darn it,'” he said. “But I’ll tell you, people are pretty fed up, I think, with politicians who go around and tell one group one thing, tell another group another thing, and then they go to Washington and they don’t do anything that they said they would do.”

Cruz added, “I don’t think Washington should be picking winners and losers. When it comes to energy, we should have an all-of-the-above approach, but it should be driven by the market.” Exactly right.

The audience applauded Cruz’s candor for coming out against the RFS, but no doubt many also made a mental note to scratch him off their short list for 2016.

Republicans don’t seem to have a problem speaking out against ObamaCare’s mandate that Americans buy health insurance. Why do they then embrace the mandate that Americans buy ethanol?

The answer is simple: Iowa is always an important state for presidential candidates as its caucus kicks off the primaries. But the ethanol debacle illustrates why this privilege should no longer reside in the Hawkeye State. GOP candidates should be standing by free market principles instead of corporate welfare, but thanks to the primary structure they’re forced to pander to Iowa farmers.

Little Support for Obama’s ‘Strategy’ Against ISIL

Problems continue to abound for Barack Obama in dealing with the Islamic State and other jihadists in the Middle East. He claims he wants congressional support, and he boasts there is a united front to combat the Islamic State, but, given the current situation in the Middle East and Obama’s record of failed foreign policy, few are lining up to follow his lead.

Early last month, Obama submitted to Congress his request for an Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) to fight the Islamic State. As we noted then, his request prohibits any enduring offensive combat operations and sets a timetable for three years, which in his warped view will show the world our resolve in countering the Islamic State.

In reality, the 2001 AUMF against al-Qaida and the 2002 AUMF for military operations in Iraq allow Obama to pursue the Islamic State. But those AUMFs were during the Bush administration, and since Obama doesn’t want to commit to a ground campaign, or for that matter have any part of Bush’s war strategy, he wants his own AUMF.

It appears, however, that due to his numerous failed strategies in the Middle East (Libya, Syria, Egypt, Yemen and Iraq) he can’t even convince Senate Democrats to approve his AUMF request. Obama obviously wants Congress to share responsibility for his strategy debacle against the Islamic State, but lawmakers aren’t taking the bait.

If Congress was to grant his AUMF request and things deteriorate further, Obama would shift the blame on Congress. At the same time, if Congress doesn’t grant his AUMF request, he will blame Congress for not giving him authorization. But remember, he already has authorization under the 2001 and 2002 agreements, yet he won’t commit to putting boots on the ground. For now, we will just have boots in the air.

Speaking of boots in the air, the U.S. air campaign has had some success in Syria, but is also doing the lion’s share of work. According to The Washington Post, “Of the 2,738 airstrikes the coalition has conducted in Iraq and Syria since last summer, the Americans have carried out 2,203.”

The Post adds that “the picture on the ground in Iraq is similar,” with U.S forces of just under 3,000 troops far outnumbering other countries such as Australia and France. This despite Obama saying there would be no ground troops. Move along; nothing to see here. They are strictly advisers and trainers, the administration says — that is until they’re shot at and must fight back. But we digress.

Meanwhile, there are no members of the Arab alliance who have announced they will send advisers to Iraq. Since the Iraqi government can’t seem to muster support for its fight against the Islamic State, who then to turn to but the United States? Well, kind of.

The Iraqi government is asking for the U.S. to start dropping bombs on Saddam Hussein’s home town of Tikrit, which is currently held by ISIL. Baghdad wants Tikrit back, but it isn’t happy with Washington. An aide to the prime minister complained, “The Americans continue procrastinating about the time it will take to liberate the country.” If the Iraqis are waiting for Obama to admit he left too soon or is acting too slowly, they will be waiting forever.

While Baghdad waits for Obama to act, the Iran-Iraq coalition — yes, you read that right — has made little progress. According to World Affairs’ Michael Totten, “The Iraqi armed forces consist partly of Iraqi Shia militias led by Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.” But, he writes, “The Iranian-Iraqi coalition has made almost no progress at all in Tikrit. ISIS laced the area with mines and is dispatching suicide bombers with reckless abandon — another bit of irony. Iran’s Lebanese client Hezbollah pioneered suicide bombings in the Middle East during the 1980s, and now that very deplorable tactic is being used against its own architects closer to home.”

With Tikrit consisting primarily of Sunni Muslims, and with a deep distrust for Iran, is there any reason to believe more sectarian violence won’t erupt? For Iraqis in Tikrit, it’s essentially a choice between being slaughtered by ISIL or taken over by Iran.

The violence, political chaos and instability in the Middle East is made worse when a sitting president with no foreign policy experience fails to recognize, deal with, or at the very least contain the spread of radical Islam. Given the circumstances in Syria and Iraq and the fact that Iran is seeking to expand its influence (while pursuing nuclear weapons), what good would Obama’s AUMF request do anyway?

He has not decimated al-Qaida and the Islamic State is still growing. In fact, Boko Haram recently announced its allegiance to the Islamic State. When Obama declared terrorists were on the run, he must have meant that they were running to join forces.

Columnist Ed Feulner: “[T]he FCC has assured the public that it won’t resort to regulating broadband providers as fully as the law would allow. They’ll still have a large degree of autonomy, we’re to believe. But you don’t have to be as skeptical of government promises as I am to view this assurance with a heavy dose of suspicion. I’m not saying the FCC is necessarily being disingenuous. But consider the government’s track record. President Lyndon Johnson, for example, told us that the welfare system he signed into law in the 1960s would be a ‘hand up,’ not a handout. Yet until the 1996 reform, it was impossible to view as anything but a handout. More recently, we have …. Dodd-Frank and Obamacare. Policymakers can have all the good intentions in the world, but it doesn’t change what can and does happen when their so-called solutions are put into practice. … [W]e’ve been here twice before, once in 2006 and again in 2010. Both times, net neutrality didn’t survive a court challenge, and that’s where we look now. … Sorry, but net neutrality is like a virus or a bad line of code. It needs to be eradicated, not embraced. The government is here, all right, but not to help. Time to hit ‘delete.'”

Columnist Arnold Ahlert: “Iran is the Shi’ite side of the terrorist equation. The Sunni side is equally problematic. Nigerian terror group Boko Haram has reportedly pledged its allegiance to ISIS. ISIS itself has expanded operations in Libya, resulting in the beheading of eight guards after last week’s assault on an oil field. Nine foreigners were also abducted. Eight was the ‘magic number’ in Iraq as well, as in eight dead bodies hung by their feet in Iraq’s Kirkuk province. ISIS was equally busy destroying antiquities dating back to 717 BC. … It bears repeating for the terminally addled members of the Obama administration and their equally clueless sycophants: Every day ISIS remains viable is another day they remain inspirational to domestic jihadists who have already made it clear that places like Paris, Sydney, London, Cophenhagen, Oklahoma, Canada and New York can be converted into killing fields. Nevertheless, Obama and company remain in second gear as his promise to ‘degrade and destroy’ what he once referred to as a ‘JV team’ rings increasingly hollow.”

The McAvany Intel Memo

It needs to be remembered that both [major political] parties are controlled by the same Liberal Eastern Establishment/globalist crowd. Yes, there are more conservatives in the Republican Party (i.e., Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Michelle Bachman, Ted Cruz, and a number of Tea Party types), but they are a small minority of the party. Aside from rousing speeches condemning the liberals and proposed legislation that never makes it out of committee, the conservatives’ influence is minimal. The hierarchy of the Republicans is very liberal and dominated by the establishment. They will block (with help from the leftist media) any conservative candidate from getting the nomination for the presidency. Think of how they blocked (or trashed) Ron Paul, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Rick Santorum, and have run only liberals like George Bush Sr., Bob Dole, George Bush Jr., John McCain, and Mitt Romney – all liberal establishment Republicans and globalists of the Kissinger/Nixon/Rockefeller genre….

It should be remembered that the US buildup (industrialization) of the People’s Republic of China and transfer of America’s manufacturing base (and high-technology) to the PRC (i.e., the de-industrialization of America and the permanent destruction of tens of millions of American jobs) was commenced under the Republicans (think Nixon, Kissinger, Bush Sr.) and only accelerated under the Democrats (think Clinton and Obama). It should be remembered that the greatest number of people-control regulations in US history were launched under Republican George Bush Sr.’s presidency, and that the machinery for a total American surveillance society and police state (including Homeland Security) were set up under Republican George Bush Jr.’s two terms – under the guise of fighting terrorism.

It should be remembered that the push for the New World Order (one world government) began under Bush Sr. (who publically advocated its establishment dozens of times in concert with Mikhail Gorbachev) and that that globalist initiative accelerated as Bush Jr. pushed hard for the establishment of the North American Union (the merger of the US, Canada, and Mexico – a clone of the socialist European Union). The truth is that the greatest push for a socialist one-world government always comes from the Republican hierarchy.

It should be remembered that America’s endless and senseless wars in the Middle East started under Republican George Bush Jr. – whose administration falsely accused Saddam Hussein of involvement in 9/11 and fabricated the bogus Weapons of Mass Destruction issue as an excuse to invade Iraq. (The truth was that Hussein did have chemical weapons, but those were sold or given to him by Bush Sr. during the Iran/Iraq War between 1985 and 1990 and transferred to Syria in Russian Spetsnaz convoys weeks before the American invasion.) Because of the Neocon wars that are the hallmark of the Republican Party, the GOP has become known as the “War Party.”

Netanyahu Claims there is a 'worldwide' effort to topple himAre the Nations of the World collaborating to remove benjamin Netanyahu from office? According to a report from reuters Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in broadcast remarks on Tuesday there was a “huge, worldwide effort” to ensure he loses next week’s closely contested election.  The reports indicate that Army Radio, which aired what it said were comments he made on Monday to activists of his right-wing Likud party, interpreted them as referring to foreign funding for advocacy groups campaigning for a change of government in Israel.  “It is a very tight race. Nothing is guaranteed because there is a huge, worldwide effort to topple the Likud government,” said Netanyahu, who received rousing applause in the U.S. Congress last week during a speech against a potential nuclear deal with Iran sought by the administration of President Barack Obama. Terrorist Hears Gospel Radio, Rejects Jihad for Jesus Christ

Terrorist Hears Gospel Radio, Rejects Jihad for Jesus ChristEven as the the radical Islamic terrorist group in Nigeria and Boko Haram continue blazing a swath of terror across northern Nigeria, resulting in the postponement of the nation’s presidential election from Feb. 14 to March 28 the Tide global radio ministry is helping Nigerians keep Jesus as the center focus of their hearts. And according to reports, one Muslim listener heard The Tide ministry program in the Hausa language, the official language of Islam in Nigeria. Although a believer in jihad, he was challenged by the message of hope and peace that only Christ can offer. He responded to the gospel message, called the number at the end of the program and is now a follower of Christ. The Tide ministry began broadcasting in Nigeria in 2009 in the Efik language, spoken by approximately 2 million Nigerian people. Today, The Tide radio programming can be heard in eleven languages in Nigeria: Efik, Hausa, Ijaw, Igbo, Annang, Yoruba, Tiv, Ibibio, Nupe, Amo and Agwagune. FULL REPORT

The Shemitah Unraveled: What 2015-2016 Could Bring

Posted: 10 Mar 2015 06:24 AM PDT

The Shemitah Unraveled: What 2015-2016 Could BringNew York Times best-selling author Rabbi Jonathan Cahn has issued a warning to prepare for economic calamity, war in the Middle East or even worse. Why? Because we have entered the “Shemitah Cycle” on the Hebraic Calendar!  “I will state a warning which I have stated before,” Cahn told hundreds of people gathered at the Prophecy in the News conference in Orlando, Florida, this weekend. “Whether it comes in this time parameter of the Shemitah or the year following or not, I believe a great shaking is going to come to this land and to the world that will involve the collapsing of the American economy … and the removal of its blessings and prosperity. “Whether it begins with the economic realm or not, I believe it’s going to be bigger than the economic realm and it may have the effect of famine or cutting off infrastructure for a time. The shaking doesn’t have to take place in the Shemitah (year), but I believe we need to be ready.”  Cahn’s warning has to do with what is known as the biblical Shemitah, or the Sabbath Year. During this year, according to Exodus and Leviticus, there was to be no working of the land. The last day of the Shemitah, Elul 29, is considered the “wipeout day” when all debts were “wiped clean.” The Shemitah is meant to be a blessing, but when Israel turned away from God it became “a sign of judgment on a nation that has driven God out of its life.”  FULL REPORT

Christian Printer Takes Hard Stand for Bible, Refuses to Print Gay Ceremony InvitationsA Christian printing company in the Republic of Ireland has become the latest business to take a stand for traditional marriage. According to reports Beulah Print & Design declined to print invitations for a gay couple’s civil partnership ceremony. The incident comes after calls by the Council of Europe for member states to support the principle of reasonable accommodation. The owners of the Print Company said that because of their Christian faith they could not print material for John Keirans and Jonathon Brennan’s civil partnership ceremony. A statement released by the company stressed that their decision was not a personal attack on the customers, whom they had happily served for four years, but was due to their opposition to same-sex marriage. Economist Tells Congress: U.S. May Be in ‘Worse Fiscal Shape’ Than GreeceWhile many of us in the US are not worried about Greece and believe they are far worse economically than us, we may want to pay close attention to what an economists recently revealed to the Congress. According to the report the U.S. has a $210 trillion “fiscal gap” and “may well be in worse fiscal shape than any developed country, including Greece,” Boston University economist Laurence Kotlikoff told members of the Senate Budget Committee in written and oral testimony on Feb. 25. “The first point I want to get across is that our nation is broke,” Kotlikoff testified. “Our nation’s broke, and it’s not broke in 75 years or 50 years or 25 years or 10 years. It’s broke today.  “Indeed, it may well be in worse fiscal shape than any developed country, including Greece,” he said. “We have a $210 trillion fiscal gap at this point,” Kotlikoff told the senators, which amounts to 211 percent of the U.S.’ $18.2 trillion GDP, making it higher than Greece’s 175 percent debt-to-GDP ratio. Upcoming ‘Supermoon’ eclipse will dazzle Britain, but hit Europe’s power grids hardBritain is set to experience its deepest solar eclipse in 15 years, as well as a Supermoon, all at the same time – an event that will plunge the island into twilight for two whole hours. The Supermoon eclipse is known as an astronomical alignment where the Moon is sent on a trajectory between the Sun and the Earth, depriving us of light. The event will occur on March 20 at around 8:40GMT.  Scotland will experience 98 percent of the sky darkened, compared to about 85 percent for the south of England. For best results the Scottish need to look up starting 9:36 am. Other areas in Britain will only get around 30 percent. Similar events took place in 2006, 2008 and 2011, but neither of them can touch the upcoming Supermoon eclipse, except an event that occurred in 1999. According to to research We’ll have to wait three years for the next one in 2018. However, only 2026 will present us with a deep solar eclipse once again. As for the magnitude, it won’t be until 2090 that we get to see anything like the 1999 and upcoming March 20 events. FULL REPORT

“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.” Proverbs 20:1 (KJV)

It is stunning, actually, when you consider the intense amount of demonic mental condition that our society places on people to do the wrong thing. Things that were once considered scandalous rarely raise an eyebrow in our generation. There is certainly nothing funny about training babies to reach for a beer bottle and associate that with the pleasure of food at the earliest of ages. Anyone raised in an alcoholic family who has struggled to break free of those liquid chains knows what I am talking about. Alcohol has destroyed more families than all the other drugs on the face of the earth combined. And no, Jesus never drank alcohol. Not even once. The wine He drank in the bible was “new wine”, the pure, sweet, unfermented juice of the grape. On the Perpetual Kid.com website, we read the following description of their latest product: “Double-takes are guaranteed when your kid starts knocking back their favorite beverage with our hilarious Chill, Baby Lil’ Lager Baby Bottle. No it’s not beer, it’s just good old smooth and creamy baby formula served up in a BPA-free, phthalate free plastic bottle with a food-grade silicone nipple.” FULL REPORT

While martyrdom for Western Christians is not even on our radar, we must accept its reality in the rest of the world, and the very real possibility that we will soon face our own crisis of faith. Although the growth of the Church has leveled off in the West, it is exploding elsewhere in the world; and all amidst the extraordinary stories of Christian martyrdom at the hands of hate-filled extremists like ISIS and Boko Haram. Rapes, beheadings, and kidnappings are all being carried out against Believers in the Middle East, and a new generation of martyrs is being documented.

The Dangers of Chrislam

For several years a number of conservative Christian evangelicals have warned of a new (and heretical) doctrine dubbed Chrislam which, as the name suggests, is a hybrid of Christianity and Islam. At first glance, the idea seems preposterous and alarmist. But there is growing evidence that some kind of pernicious cooperation between some Christians and Muslims is really happening. And it’s not good news for the Jews.

Barack Obama Loves America, His America

The devil’s fingerprints are all over the decisions being made today and it greatly concerns me what is coming our way. Since Bible prophecy predicts massive persecution for all believers in the Tribulation hour, our proximity to the last of the last days should be a concern to every Christian.

Hardship has always been the best thing that could happen to the church. Under tranquility, Christianity has a natural tendency to become lazy and complacent. If you want to find robust Christianity, you need to go to China, Iran, or North Korea.

The Bible does not provide an absolute guarantee that everything will be sunny for believers right ahead of the Rapture.

We No Longer Have a Free Press, Only a Homosexual Press

by Bill Muehlenberg

Once upon a time there existed what was known as a free press. Back in those days the media actually tried to report the news, and do so in a fairly objective, impartial and neutral fashion. Those days are long gone. Today what we have is the mainstream media fully in the advocacy business.

Not only are they in the business of pushing the worldview of secular humanism; not only are they all about pushing political correctness; but they are obsessed with pushing the radical causes of the minority activist groups. And there is no greater group that they bow down and worship than the militant homosexual lobby.

Thus we can say that a free and neutral press really does not exist anymore. Instead we have everywhere homosexual propaganda rags force-feeding the homosexual agenda on to the masses whether they like it or not. I just wrote recently that the media only covers one side of the story nowadays when it comes to homosexuality. As I wrote,

The amicus brief, organized by former Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman, was filed for the four same-sex marriage cases the Court will hear on April 28 that could legalize the unions nationwide. In 2013, Mehlman marshaled a similar effort for the case that overturned California’s Proposition 8, which had banned same-sex marriage in the state.

How Obama Continues To Fool Black America

He is by far the most racially divisive individual to ever occupy the White House.

Today was a sparkling, clear, sunny day in Selma, Alabama at the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” a civil rights march in which protesters were beaten, tear-gassed and trampled by State Troopers as they walked across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Approximately 40,000 blacks from all over America assembled to remember those who suffered on that day in the name of equality and freedom.

There were various speakers on hand, some of whom marched across that bridge back then, and had every reason to feel a nostalgic sense of pride at how far this county has come in race relations since that turbulent day. On the other hand, front and center was Barack Hussein Obama, a man who has endured about as much oppression as the Queen of England.

Oh, of course he was there in all his resplendent glory, speaking in front of that adoring crowd of American blacks in his fakey-Southern-preacher dialect. The hair on the back of my neck stands straight up when he does that. It’s insulting and an obvious tool to pander to those who look to him as some kind of demi-god simply because of his skin color.

Your “black” President doesn’t have one blessed thing in common with you. Not a thing. He’s never known economic disadvantage. He grew up attending the most prestigious private school in Hawaii. He had enough disposable income to buy, sell and smoke enough marijuana and crack to open his own business.

Then, as he was about to start at Columbia University, he magically scraped up enough money to enjoy a lengthy trip to Indonesia, Pakistan then on to India. How many struggling college kids are able to do that?! He went on to attend the extremely prestigious and expensive Harvard Law School. Hmm. Want to know who paid for that?

It wasn’t his Daddy, that’s for sure. Actually, it’s been revealed that the parents of Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers, were partially responsible for financing his college education. Know who else did? The government of Saudi Arabia. No kidding. That’s one reason he bowed to the Saudi king right after he was elected President, while on his world-wide ‘I-Hate-America’ tour.

Obama’s voice changes dramatically when he gives speeches to predominantly black audiences:

I wonder how many of the black folks in that crowd in Selma, Alabama today grew up with those kind of advantages. Heck, how many Americans of any color do? I sure didn’t! Apparently being white ain’t everything. But let me continue to point out the differences between you and your so-called black President.

In the 18th century, Muslim slave traders moved into Kenya to take advantage of the feuds between competing African tribes. Obama’s ancestral tribe, the Luo, captured prisoners of war and sold them to the Muslim slave traders for export to the Middle East.

According to Obama’s own memoir, his Grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, was Arab. His African Grandmother, Akuma, was kidnapped, raped and enslaved by Onyango until she was able to escape, like many girls he had before her. Again, Obama’s African Grandmother was a slave to his Arab Muslim Grandfather.

Did you get that? Your President’s ancestors didn’t come here as slaves—no, Obama’s ancestors were selling your ancestors! And Arab Muslims are the leading purveyors of the human slave trade to this day, including child sex-slavery.

Yet this man has the unabashed gall to stand up in front of you, presenting himself as a person who can identify with the historical struggle of the average black person in America. Exactly what, pray tell, has your President done for the black community? A big fat nothing, that’s what! He lied to you, promising the sun, moon and stars to get elected and what has he done since?

He’s taken 38 luxury vacations in the last 6 years, totally more than $33,441,728.00 in taxpayer money, that’s what. That doesn’t take into account all the trips Michelle and the girls have taken by themselves. You see? While millions of you are scrimping by on food stamps and unemployment, he’s on the golf course with Tiger Woods and rubbing shoulders at cocktail parties with Jay-Z and Beyoncé. And, believe me, he doesn’t give YOU a second thought.

How on earth could you listen to him today as he spewed his contrived nonsense? “The single most powerful word in our democracy is ‘we.’ We the people. We will overcome. Yes, we can. Fifty years from Bloody Sunday, our march is not yet finished. But we are getting closer.”

Who’s “we?!” Who is he talking about? It sure isn’t himself! He’s never known a day of struggle in his entire pampered, narcissistic life! He doesn’t know you! He looks down his privileged nose and laughs at how easily he can manipulate you, simply because he’s got darker skin than any other President before him.

He is by far the most racially divisive individual to ever occupy the White House. I sincerely pray you will open your eyes and see this usurping liar for what he is. Stop listening to him! He doesn’t know you, and he never will.

Black America, you deserve better. We all do.

Coalition Of Black Pastors Outraged At Obama’s Comparison Of Gay Marriage To Civil Rights

The president of a black pastors coalition has expressed his anger that President Barack Obama compared the civil rights movement to that for same-sex marriage at the 50th anniversary of the “Bloody Sunday” march, when black American citizens were beaten while demanding voting rights they were being denied.

“Ask your gay friend if it’s easier to be out and proud in America now than it was 30 years ago,” Obama said in Selma, Alabama, on Saturday, as he characterized the movement for same-sex marriage as another civil rights struggle.

“I marched with many people back in those days and I have reached out to some of my friends who marched with me, and all of them are shocked,” Rev. William Owens of the Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP) told Breitbart News. “They never thought they would see this day that gay rights would be equated with civil rights. Not one agreed with this comparison.”

In February of 2014, CAAP issued a press release in which it announced a campaign to call for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder on the basis that he has violated his oath of office by “attempting to impose same-sex ‘marriage’ throughout the nation.”

President Obama is a disgrace to the black community,” Owens said. “He is rewriting history. We didn’t suffer and die for gay marriage. We marched for opportunity, equality, justice, freedom from oppression. We are the true heirs of the civil rights movement. We have a new movement to reclaim the ‘real’ civil rights movement.”

Evolution of Darwin: His Impact

Why Do We Need God for Morality?

“If you alter or obscure the Biblical portrait of God in order to attract converts, you don’t get converts to God, you get converts to an illusion. This is not evangelism but deception.” – John Piper

Joel Osteen’s “Gospel of Me”

“When we obey God,” Victoria Osteen declares in one show, a smile plastered across her face, “We’re not doing it for God. I mean, that’s one way to look at it. We’re doing it for ourselves, because God takes pleasure when we’re happy. That’s the thing that gives Him the greatest joy. So, I want you to know this morning: Just do good for your own self.”

No Rest, No Worship

“A loan, a contract, a consultation, a piece of legislation, a foundation grant, an interview with a reporter might look important if you don’t rest from your labors but carry thoughts of them into worship. But if you take a break and contemplate the remarkable work of God in redeeming a sinful world, you may be able to discern the difference between temporal and eternal things.”

Preaching: 3 Questions for Managing the Heart

“What we, and our churches, need most is for us to be engaging our hearts as we prepare to preach, after we preach and as we work through our own emotions in the days following. We would all agree it is not about us, so let’s pray that God would help us to live this way whether our sermons seem effective or not.”

A Three-Pronged Team Approach When Caring for People with Eating Disorders

“Physicians and nutritionists can be of great help to the biblical counselor in caring for someone with an eating disorder. In fact, their support regarding the patient’s health and food needs allows a biblical counselor more freedom to spend the time in counseling appointments on what we do best—tending to the heart issues underneath the symptoms.”

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day

by John Aloisi

St. Patrick’s Day appears on our calendars each year, most modern celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day have little to do with the person behind the holiday. Next week many people will wear a little extra green, some will celebrate their Irish heritage, and more than a few will drink a pint or two in honor of St. Patrick. But my guess is that relatively few who celebrate St. Patrick’s Day know much about Patrick himself, and in fact, some of what is commonly “known” about Patrick is actually mistaken.

E. A. Thompson begins his classic study of Patrick by telling of a time when he asked six British university professors about the nationality of Patrick. All six replied that he was “Irish, of course.” Such answers led Thompson to believe that his book on Patrick was sorely needed.

Dear Rob Bell: The Church Isn’t Giving an Inch on Gay Marriage

by Denny Burk

Former pastor Rob Bell recently stated that the church is on the cusp of embracing gay marriage. Owen Strachan has penned an open-letter responding to that claim. Strachan writes:

Rob, you’re a gifted communicator. You drew many folks to your church in Michigan, and now you have a show on Oprah’s network. It’s clear that you’re charismatic, funny, and adept at making complex realities simple to understand.
But—excuse my own attempt at brevity—you’re dead wrong on the church and gay marriage. The church isn’t giving an inch on this issue. Sure, there are scattered congregations who are moving in this direction. But in terms of tens and tens of thousands of local churches from a wide array of denominations filled with people of all races and backgrounds who simply love God’s inerrant Word, we aren’t moving an inch. We’re not scared; we’re not intimidated; we’re not even impressed. We’ve seen this all before.

Our deepest cultural problems are spiritual, not political

In one sense the nine marks of an unhealthy church could simply be the opposite of all that makes for a healthy church, so that unhealthy churches ignore membership and discipline and expository preaching and all the rest. But the signs of church sickness are not always so obvious. It’s possible for your church to teach and understand all the right things and still be a terribly unhealthy place. No doubt, there are dozens of indicators that a church has become dysfunctional and diseased. But let’s limit ourselves to nine.

Here are nine marks that your church–even one that believes the Bible, preaches the gospel, and embraces good ecclesiology–may be unhealthy.

Why Your Church Should be Thinking Multisite – Rainer on Leadership #105

Podcast Episode #105

SUBSCRIBE: iTunes • RSS • Stitcher • TuneIn Radio

Many times when we think about multisite, we think big churches. But now smaller churches are going multisite too. In fact, multisite is becoming almost as common as multiservice. So today on the podcast, we address this growing trend and explain why all churches—both big and small—should be considering multisite as an option.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Church trends are moving away from the large (1,000+) worship gathering.
  • There are a number of dying churches who are willing to be acquired and become another site of an existing church.
  • By retrofitting existing space instead of buying and building, the cost to go multisite can be significantly reduced.
  • One major key to successful multisite expansion is to have the right leadership in place.
  • There is simply not a good argument to support claims that “we don’t need another church in town.”
  • Some of the greatest resistance to going multisite is often not from the community but from within the church itself.

The 6 reasons churches need to consider multisite are:

  1. Millennials moving away from large worship gatherings
  2. Governmental restrictions on building and land
  3. Difficulty in finding large plots of land
  4. Acquisition of churches
  5. Can take advantage of existing facilities (can be cheaper)
  6. Reach people main campus would never reach

The Cripplegate: Recapping the Summit on Inerrancy

Note: I posted this yesterday on Preachers and Preachingthe new blog of The Master’s Seminary. I’ve duplicated it here at the Cripplegate, to make sure as many people as possible know about the resources available from the Summit on Biblical Inerrancy.

It’s hard to believe the 2015 Summit on Biblical Inerrancy is over. With 16 guest speakers and 18 general sessions, it was a power-packed week celebrating our common commitment to the absolute truth of God’s Word.

In case you missed any of general sessions, you can find summaries of each session below. Videos for the sessions can be found here and also here.

In session 1, John MacArthur opened the conference by listing four reasons why a summit on biblical inerrancy is needed. Those who love God and His Word are called to defend it. Click here for a full summary.

In session 2, Alistair Begg exposited 2 Tim. 4:1-5, emphasizing the divine charge to preach the Word in the midst of a culture that does not want to hear the truth. Click here for a full summary.

In session 3, R. C. Sproul provided an apologetic argument for defending the doctrine of inerrancy when speaking to theological liberals and others who deny the absolute truth of God’s Word. Click here for a full summary.

In session 4, Stephen Nichols used 1 Thess. 2:13 to answer the question, How did we get here? He traced American history in the 19th and 20th centuries to help explain the current theological landscape. Click here for a full summary.

In session 5, Ligon Duncan addressed 2 Timothy 3:14-17. From these verses, he showed what the Bible is (plenary verbal inspiration), what the Bible is for (correction and training), and what the Bible does (by bringing salvation and sanctification). Click here for a full summary.

In session 6, Miguel Nuñez showed that the Great Commission (Matt. 28:16-20) requires an inerrant Bible. Such a monumental message needed an unshakable authority, which is what Christ gave the disciples in His Word. Click here for the full summary.

In session 7, Carl Trueman surveyed the Reformers’ commitment to the doctrine of inerrancy. He specifically focused on the views of Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Heinrich Bullinger. Click here for the full summary.

In session 8, Ian Hamilton preached John 10:22-39, focusing specifically on the phrase, “Scripture cannot be broken.” Hamilton reminded us that a true commitment to biblical inerrancy will reveal itself in a Christ-like lifestyle. Click here for the full summary.

In session 9, Mark Dever covered Psalm 119 in a single sermon. From this passage, he focused on what God’s Word is like, what it does, and how we should respond. Click here for the full summary.

In session 10, Steve Lawson looked at several passages (Heb. 4:12-13; James 1:23; 1 Pet. 1:23; 2:2-3; Ps. 119:105; Jer. 23:29) to demonstrate the invincible power of the inerrant Word of God. Click here to read the full summary.

In session 11, Gregory Beale showed that Matthew’s use of Hosea 11:1 (in Matthew 2:15) is not a haphazard misquoting of the Old Testament. Rather, Matthew is carefully considering Hosea’s argument based on Numbers 23-24. Click here to read the full summary.

Session 12 featured a panel Q&A with John MacArthur, Al Mohler, Ligon Duncan, Mark Dever, and Kevin DeYoung. (There was no liveblog of the Q&A.)

In session 13, Derek Thomas addressed 2 Peter 1:16-21, to show that the Bible describes itself as the perfect Word of God written through human instrumentation. Click here to read the full summary.

In session 14, Al Mohler discussed the inseparable relationship between inerrancy and hermeneutics. He articulated twelve principles of hermeneutics for pastors who affirm inerrancy. Click here to read the full summary.

In session 15, Sinclair Ferguson focused on passages from the Upper Room Discourse (John 13-17) in order to show the relationship between inerrancy and the Holy Spirit. Click here to read the full summary.

In session 16, Iain Murray took us on a tour of late 19th-century British history, to warn us of the subtle ways in which the church’s commitment to Scripture can be undermined. Click here to read the full summary.

In session 17, Kevin DeYoung looked at Mathew 5:17-19, showing how Christ viewed the Old Testament, and how His example establishes a pattern for our commitment to inerrancy. Click here to read the full summary.

In session 18, John MacArthur concluded the conference by looking at Matthew 22:23-33. In that passage, Christ affirms biblical inerrancy by making a significant theological point about the resurrection based simply on the tense of a verb. Click here to read the summary.

LYWB Blog: 50 Ways to Serve Others

I love it when you ask hard questions!

One reader recently wrote, “How do I serve others?” The fact that you are even asking that question makes me want to give you a gold star! So many of us spend our time secretly asking the opposite . . . “How can I get others to serve me?” But this is not how the Bible teaches us to live. Let’s unpack service for a minute, and then I’ll give you a list of 50 super practical ways to serve others. (Yep, 50!)

“Hey! You matter!”

The Bible has a lot to say about service. Since the subject gets so much real estate in God’s Word, we can assume it’s something God wanted us to understand and then live out.

But what does it mean to serve others, exactly?

Philippians 2:3–4 helps us figure that out.

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Mind if I re-phrase that in Erin language?

Service = finding practical ways to show other people they matter. It’s like saying, “Hey! You’re important, and I want to prove it to you.”

That’s something that sounds great in theory, but isn’t always so appealing in real time. True service requires sacrifice. We must sacrifice our abilities for the good of others, not just ourselves. We must sacrifice our talents to invest in others, not just to make ourselves look good. We must sacrifice our time, something that is always in short supply. And here’s the kicker: to truly serve like the Bible calls us to, we must do it with zero promise of a personal pay off. There’s no guarantee that the people we serve will return the favor or even notice our efforts. We are called to serve others anyway.

Flipped Upside Down

When we read the Gospels, we see that Jesus has a habit of taking what we think we know about how the world should work and flipping it upside down. He certainly did this with the idea of service.

“And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, ‘If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all” (Mark 9:35).

“But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all” (Mark 10:43–44).

Here’s the equation Jesus is sketching out . . .

Do you want to be first? Be last.
Do you want to be a big deal? Serve others.
Do you want to be great? Be a servant.
Do you want to be number one? Be a slave.
If we’ve been in church very long, we know these verses, but have you ever taken the time to consider the whacky advice Jesus is dishing out here? How is it possible to be a big deal by making others a big deal? How can we become number one by being a slave to someone else? Jesus is showing us that value is assigned differently in God’s kingdom than it is in our world. We live in a culture that highly values self. Jesus is saying that in contrast, He highly values those who look out for others.

He didn’t leave us high and dry, trying to figure this mixed up equation out on our own. He is the solution. His life is the formula we can follow.

Matthew 10:45 says it this way, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

If anyone deserves to be served, it’s Jesus. But He spent His life showing others “you matter.” So can we.

Less Talking—More Doing

The thing about service is that it requires rolled-up sleeves and dirty fingernails. In order to truly serve others, we have to stop talking and start doing. That’s why when Jesus described service in places like Matthew 25:35–40 He made very practical suggestions like feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and visiting those who were sick and in prison.

With that advice in mind, here are 50 practical ways you can start serving others right now.

Tolerance has come to mean that no one is right and no one is wrong

Tolerance has come to mean that no one is right and no one is wrong and, indeed, the very act of stating that someone else’s views are immoral or incorrect is now taken to be intolerant (of course, from this same point of view, it is all right to be intolerant of those who hold to objectively true moral or religious positions). Once the existence of knowable truth in religion and ethics is denied, authority (the right to be believed and obeyed) gives way to power (the ability to force compliance), reason gives way to rhetoric, the speech writer is replaced by the makeup man, and spirited but civil debate in the culture wars is replaced by politically correct special-interest groups who have nothing left but political coercion to enforce their views on others.

Restoring All Things? Another Misguided Attempt | Worldview Weekend

The bandwagon toward restorationism has more unsuspecting believers jumping on than just about any other bandwagon that is railing its way through the church today. The Christian desire to see a better world, free from the suffering of poverty, sickness, abuse, and other evils, is the fuel that many have used to gain riders on the restoration bandwagon. We want–and should want–a better world.

The latest is a conference and book, both by the title, “Restoring All Things,” by Warren Cole Smith (World Publishing) and John Stonestreet (Colson Center and co-host of Breakpoint). These authors join a host of other “restoration movement” authors and speakers who have become prominent in the last decade. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I am sure that the leaders of the movement are not motivated by a book-selling, speech-giving, royalties-driven heart. Rather, they are leading out of an honest-to-goodness desire for a better world.

But their desire is totally misguided.

The “Restoring all Things” book and conference is built on the foundation of thought that believes that the church’s collective influence is what God will use to “restore all things.” Therefore, if we join hands in perfect harmony, we can end injustice and usher in a new world order, bringing God glory.

It’s a nice thought, but it doesn’t work.

It is a thought that those in the Calvinist / Reformed Theology movement are beginning to fully adopt, and quickly. This baffles me, since the Reformed Theology movement is a movement that so emphasizes the glory of God and the depravity of man. Yet the restorationist movement magnifies the strength of man and makes God dependent upon man’s collective strength for restoration of His created order.

Not only is it strange that the reformed movement is buying into this garbage, but the garbage is unbiblical at its core. We live in a fallen world that can only be redeemed and restored by the “zeal of the Lord of hosts.” A Biblical worldview is one which sees the brokenness of this world being restored in the cataclysmic return of the Lord, coming in judgment and bringing justice and restoration. (I am not surprised, therefore, that adherents of this theology almost always choose to speak of a “Christian worldview” rather than a “Biblical worldview.”)

Virtually every day there is a new revelation concerning those in positions of leadership in the United States of America, who seem unable or unwilling to tell the truth. We are told of IRS targeting, secret service scandals, including security failures affecting the President of the United States, and wasteful spending of taxpayer money by government. Other reports include the total failure to protect the U.S. ambassador to Libya in Benghazi, and the many apparent untruths reported about Benghazi. There have been numerous misrepresentations regarding the Affordable Health Care Act. Does it appear that “truth has fallen in the streets?” Many in position of leadership are ungodly and support the killing of tiny persons in their mother’s womb. Many also support sodomy and other debauchery in the name of same-sex marriages. There are others who make wrongheaded and misguided attempts “to redistribute wealth” and have made policies that promote economic principles which have a negative affect on businesses all over the United States of America. Inability or unwillingness to speak the truth is dangerous! A growing number of people in the United States are looking for the way to get this nation back on track, acting in accordance with the biblical doctrines on which God founded this nation. There is only One Way that will work.

The only way to rescue this nation from “the wrath to come” is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is The Way. Scripture tells us that “there is a way that seemeth right to a man but the end thereof leads to destruction”. We are seeing that repeatedly over the past few years in this nation, our nation’s leaders are committing and repeating the ungodly errors of the past where every person was doing “that which seems right in his or her own eyes”. The answer to the multiplicity of problems facing the United States of America, and indeed, seemingly all of Western civilization, is not a change of political parties, political policies, or the political process. The only answer is found in God’s Word. The only answer is Christ alone. The only answer is Jesus. He is The Way!

Not only are people searching for truth, and searching for the way to get our nation going in the right direction, but now, through misguided and wrongheaded policies, strategies, and actions, we have not only failed to defeat the enemy called “radical Islam” but that enemy is gaining ground every day. This should come as no surprise, as it is consistent with Scripture. Scripture tells us that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, spiritual wickedness in high places, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.” In the Bible, the real enemy is disclosed: the devil. Every day the Islamic State tragically and gruesomely takes the life of more and more people in the Middle East. They are “threatening” to expand their ungodly terror to Europe and to the United States. God’s Holy Word in the Gospel of John tells us that: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men.” The Word is Jesus. Jesus is Life itself! Jesus gives Life!

Jesus is life. Jesus is the light of the world. He gives life to whom he will, and to whom he gives life he also gives light. One of the major problems facing this nation today is that we who are Christians have abdicated our responsibility to be “salt and to be light”, to stand fast in the Lord Jesus Christ, and to tell people of Jesus who is mighty to save. We have failed to convince people that abortion is wrong, or to convince people that homosexuality, whether married or unmarried is wrong. The simple truth is that our leaders “do err not knowing the Scripture”. The Lord Jesus said that “in the beginning God made them male and female”. Same sex marriage is not marriage, whether it is declared to be so by ungodly judges, or ungodly politicians. The name that God’s Word gives to it is sin. We have to call sin, sin. If the trumpet sound an uncertain sound, how can the people know? Except God’s people “who are called by His name humble themselves (ourselves) and pray and seek God’s face and turn from their (our) wicked ways, He will not hear our prayer, and forgive our sin, and cleanse our land”.(2 Chronicles 20:14) Sexual promiscuity of all kinds is rampant in the United States today. Virtually every advertisement, every commercial, and every marketing scheme attempts to promote their product by the promotion of blatant sexual promiscuity. Even if it is not explicit it is implicit. So, what is the answer to all of these sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! Jesus said “Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”(Matthew 11:28-30) Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and there is no other answer; no other way; no other truth; and, life is not found in anyone or anything else!

What follows is a brief exposition of these 3 great statements: The Way; The Truth; and, The Life. Here is found the solution, not only for the United States of America, but for the entire world also. Here is the solution to the problem of the Islamic State (notice the name: Islamic State. Not Buddhist State, Christian State, Hindu State, Jewish State, etc.) The Islamic State! We must resolve to take our stance in Christ alone! Fear not for He is with us! First, we must repent from our own sin. Confess it and turn from it. We must also repent from our national sins and individually and collectively place our trust in Christ alone. We must seek to tell others of Jesus who is mighty to save. We must stand firm for this is the only solution. This is the plan. This is The Way, The Truth, and The Life! Indeed, there is No Way, No Truth, and No Life apart from Christ.

40 Days to the Cross: Reflections from Great Thinkers (Week Three: Tuesday)

Day 18: How can the resurrection of Jesus be of comfort to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one?

Confession: Psalm 38:10–15

My heart throbs violently, my strength leaves me;

and the light of my eyes, that also is not with me.

My friends and companions stand aloof from my affliction,

and my relatives stand afar off.

Those who seek my life lay snares as well,

and those intent on my harm speak threats.

They also plot deceit all day.

But as for me, like the deaf I cannot hear,

and I am like the mute who cannot open his mouth.

And so I am like a man who hears not,

and in whose mouth there are no retorts.

Rather for you I wait, O Yahweh.

You will answer, O Lord my God.

Reading: Mark 12:13–17

And they sent some of the Pharisees and the Herodians to him so that they could catch him unawares in a statement. And when they came, they said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are truthful and you do not care what anyone thinks, because you do not regard the opinion of people but teach the way of God in truth. Is it permitted to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or should we not pay?” But because he knew their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius so that I can look at it!” So they brought one. And he said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” And they said to him, “Caesar’s.” And Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God!” And they were utterly amazed at him.

See their craftiness. They do not say, “Tell us what is good, what is expedient, what is lawful?” but, “What do you think?” They looked to this one object: to betray Him and to set Him at enmity with the rulers. And Mark declaring this—and more plainly discovering their self-will and their murderous disposition—affirms them to have said, “Should we pay [Caesar], or should we not?” (Mark 12:15 nrsv) They were breathing anger and travailing with a plot against Him, yet they feigned respect.

What did He say? “Why are you putting me to the test?” (Matt 22:18 nrsv). He talks with them with more than usual severity. Because their wickedness was now complete and manifest, He cuts deeper. He confounds and silences them by publishing their secret thoughts and making their intent clear to all.

He did these things to repulse their wickedness so that they might not suffer hurt in attempting the same things again. And yet their words were full of respect, for they both called Him Master, and bore witness to His truth and said He was no respecter of persons. Jesus, being God, was not deceived by these things. They also ought to have realized that the rebuke was not the result of conjecture, but a sign of His knowing their secret thoughts.

—John Chrysostom

Holy Holy Holy

Possessing the Treasure

by Mike Ratliff

1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings:with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!” (Isaiah 6:1-3 ESV)

In the English translations of the Old Testament when we encounter the word “Lord” we are actually reading the Hebrew word “Adhōnāy.” On the other hand, when we read the word “LORD,” it is is completely different Hebrew word, “Yehōwāh.” “Adhōnāy” is actually a title for God meaning “sovereign one.” “Yehōwāh” is the sacred name of God…
