Why I Wouldn’t Want To Be A Police Officer In America Today

Can you imagine going to work each day knowing that there are lots of people out there that would love to see you dead? Despite what a lot of Americans may think, it takes real courage to be a police officer in this country today. Every time you put on that uniform and walk out the front door, it might be the very last time that you ever see your spouse and family. Yes, there is a whole lot of needless police brutality in the United States in 2015, and I am going to address that later in this article. But most police officers are just regular people that are trying to do their jobs and serve their communities. And on Wednesday, we got a reminder of just how dangerous those jobs can be. At around midnight on Wednesday, two Ferguson police officers were ambushed. A 32-year-old officer named Webster Groves was shot just beneath his right eye, and another 41-year-old officer was hit in the shoulder. Sadly, this is probably only just the beginning. Racial tensions continue to escalate, and we are on the verge of a great financial crisis which will cause economic conditions in our cities to deteriorate rapidly. By the end of this decade, I fully expect civil unrest, rioting, looting and mindless violence to become commonplace in large cities all across America. In such an environment, it will be extremely dangerous to be a police officer. (Read More….)

“When men exercise their reason coolly and freely, on a variety of distinct questions, they inevitably fall into different opinions, on some of them. When they are governed by a common passion, their opinions if they are so to be called, will be the same.” –James Madison, Federalist No. 50, 1788

Democrats Reload on Ammo Ban

After 90,000 comments and condemnation from congressional Republicans, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives backed away from its proposal to ban the 5.56 M855 “green tip” ammunition. But congressional Democrats have taken the idea, expanded the breadth of the proposed ammo ban, and run with it. In a letter to the ATF, Democrats encourage the bureau to move fast and use its “existing authority” to limit any rifle cartridge that can be fired from a handgun. Democrats wrote, “We hope that the Bureau will swiftly review comments on the proposed framework and issue a revised proposal that will address the danger posed by handguns that fire 5.56mm and other rifle ammunition.” They have introduced legislation in the House to ban the green-tipped rounds, and Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) said she would introduced a broader bill to ban even more forms of armor-piercing ammunition. Because cops wear light body armor and there are some unique pistols out there (Thompson Contender pistol chambered in 30-30, anybody?), Democrats are opening the door for potentially banning all center-fire rounds. And the ATF welcomes this lobbying. Its director, B. Todd Jones, said “any 5.56 round” threatens the safety of police officers — a distorted fear if ever there was one.

Also note that Barack Obama’s spokesman Josh Earnest promised, “The president’s commitment to putting in place common-sense rules that will protect Second Amendment rights, but also prevent those who shouldn’t have firearms from getting them, is as strong as ever. I think the president’s own personal conviction on this matter has been pretty evident to those who have watched his public comments.”

Nobody Even Read Hillary’s Deleted Emails

Hillary Clinton deleted her “personal” emails wholesale — without so much as reading them first. Fox News’ Chris Stirewalt writes, “How did Hillary Clinton know that the tens of thousands of emails from her time in office she ordered destroyed were personal? Did she or even her staff scroll through her sent items scanning emails about ‘yoga routines’ or ‘family vacations’ before deleting them? Nope. No one looked at them. The Clinton campaign said those emails that did not crop up in a keyword search performed by her team were automatically deleted. No eyes. No one to be subpoenaed. Just highlight all and press delete. That method seems better for missing emails than to finding them. And it would sound reckless and haphazard coming from another politician. In this case, though, it sounds like a woman covering her tracks in preparation for a long and bloody legal fight over subpoenas to come.” The story isn’t going to go away just because Clinton hit the delete key. More…

Did Hillary Commit a Felony?

Hillary Clinton’s email scandal continues to yield serious questions. According to The Washington Examiner, “Clinton, like all departing federal employees, was required to fill out and sign a separation statement [Form OF-109] affirming that she had turned over all classified and other government documents, including all emails dealing with official business.” Did Clinton sign the form? The State Department refuses to say just yet. If not, why not? And if so, did she commit a felony? “There’s no question” she did, says Shannen Coffin, former counsel to Dick Cheney. “There’s no doubt … that wherever the secretary had those records — if she had them in her Chappaqua home, if she had them in her office, if she had them somewhere else — she’s got to bring all of the records to the table, and turn over any official records at the time of her departure,” Coffin said. “Not — most definitely not — two years later.” He added, “The form itself says, ‘Hey, before you sign this, understand that you are certifying something that we can prosecute you for. Making a false statement in this context, knowingly and willfully’ — which, I can’t imagine anything more knowing and willful than knowing you have 55,000 records sitting in your home — ‘if you do that, it is a felony.'” Clinton’s flippant dismissal of questions at her Tuesday press conference left many things unanswered. And she’s looking worse all the time.

Don’t Mess Up the Ferguson Narrative

Barack Obama swapped jokes with ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel last night, laughing it up at the expense of a few million bucks in taxpayer-funded security. But he also turned to a serious note, speaking about the two police officers shot in Ferguson. He extended brief condolences to the wounded officers and their families before launching into predictable race-bait. “[W]hat had been happening in Ferguson was oppressive and objectionable and was worthy of protest,” Obama asserted. “But there was no excuse for criminal acts. And whoever fired those shots shouldn’t detract from the issue. They’re criminals, they need to be arrested.” He later added, “[T]here was a whole structure there, according to the Justice Department report, that indicated both racism and just a disregard for what law enforcement’s supposed to do. As I’ve said before … it is not unique, but it’s also not the norm.” Obama isn’t directly responsible for the actions of the criminal who fired on police, but he isn’t helping the situation either. It is not appropriate for the leader of this country to repeatedly tell angry rioters and looters they have perfectly legitimate grievances against racist cops. But that’s why you don’t put a community organizer in the White House.

Holder Says Ferguson Shooter Was a ‘Damn Punk’

Attorney General Eric Holder responded quickly to news that two Ferguson police officers were shot Wednesday night during a round of protests. “What happened last night was a pure ambush,” Holder said. “This was not someone trying to bring healing to Ferguson. This was a damn punk — a punk — who was trying to sow discord in an area that is trying to get its act together, and trying to bring together a community that has been fractured for too long.” He continued, “This really disgusting and cowardly attack might’ve been intended to unravel any sense of progress that exists, but I hope that that does not happen.” He’s right about a punk not trying to bring healing. But Holder’s Justice Department just released a report finding generally racist practices in the Ferguson Police Department, and Holder has spent the better part of a year blasting racist police. Forgive us for thinking he — like his boss — sounds a bit more concerned about damage to the narrative than the lives of the officers.

$16 Million Bill

The Clintons have done quite well for themselves since January 2001, when they grabbed $190,000 worth of china, flatware, furniture and rugs on their way out the White House doors — thank you very much. No, really, thank you, the American taxpayer.

Multimillion-dollar book deals, lucrative speaking engagements and whatever it is they do at the Clinton Foundation account for the bulk of the Clintons’ vast wealth. These, though, are not the only reasons that Bill and Hillary are so well off. Thanks to the Former Presidents Act, taxpayers will have given Bill a collective $16 million by Election Day next year for a variety of expenses about which, predictably, no one really knows too much.

A recent analysis by Politico revealed that the former president has received more money through the Act than any other ex-president. The total accumulation of his pension through 2016 amounts to $3.1 million, including $218,000 this year and $221,000 allocated for next year.

The General Services Administration, which disburses the money, also allocates money for personnel salaries, accounting for nearly $3 million of the $16 million Bill has received since 2001. The GSA doesn’t dictate how that money is to be spent, so there is little information on who’s received how much, other than that most post-presidential employees receive compensation from additional sources. Politico notes that Laura Graham, one of the top Clinton Foundation officials, has seen her salary more than double since 2005. Tina Flournoy, Bill’s chief of staff, is also believed to be on the GSA payroll, having come from Hillary’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Another GSA payment includes $947,000 for communications-related costs and equipment. This vague category can include furniture or even technological hardware and software. Like an email server, perhaps.

The Clinton Foundation insists that Bill paid out of his own pocket for the secret server Hillary used during her time at the State Department. But since a big chunk of his money comes from taxpayers, and his money-making entertainment value is wholly derived from his time as president, it’s difficult for him to claim he bought the hardware using the fruits of his own labor.

Incidentally, that server, which the Clintons claim resides at the Clintons’ home base in Chappaqua, New York, is protected, like the rest of the residence, by a full-time Secret Service detail. Presidents and their immediate family members receive lifetime protection paid for by taxpayers separately from the Former Presidents Act.

This new information puts the lie to Hillary’s inane statement about the Clintons being “not only dead broke, but in debt” when they left the White House. At no time were they ever even remotely close to poverty. Hillary’s claim, meant to paint her and her husband as working-class heroes, was widely and rightly ridiculed. Since the day Bill left office, the Clintons have been part of the One Percent — make that the 0.001 Percent — and they are likely to remain there for the rest of their days, thanks in part to taxpayers.

Furthermore, Politico’s story raises once again the question of whether the Former Presidents Act has outlived its usefulness, or if at the very least it should be revisited. Enacted in 1958 to “preserve the dignity of the office,” the Act was inspired by Harry Truman’s post-presidency dire financial straits. Never good with personal finances, Truman was close to losing it all before Congress stepped in to offer a pension that could preserve a certain level of comfort for him and all future ex-presidents.

These days, however, presidents leave office with multiple tracks to financial prosperity. They receive lucrative book deals, scores of six-figure speaking opportunities, invitations to join corporate boards, consulting contracts, you name it.

Pete Sepp, president of the National Taxpayers Union, and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) have led a move to cap former presidents’ benefits at $400,000 per year, with deductions equal to any private-sector compensation they receive beyond that number. As Chaffetz said in 2012, “There’s little reason why American taxpayers should be subsidizing these former presidents when they’re doing fine on their own.”

Clearly, Bill is doing more than fine, and by extension so is Hillary. As a (probable) presidential candidate, she benefits from a political existence based entirely on the fact that her husband was president. Her time as a carpet-bagging senator from New York and as secretary of state were offshoots of Bill’s presidency. She received name recognition, public attention and unwavering media adoration that couldn’t be bought or crafted by the country’s sharpest PR firms. She’s not a very good politician in her own right, and it’s laughable to imagine, say, a Hillary Rodham Smith making it this far.

Countering Iran’s Newfound Influence

Despite the stirring words of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a joint session of Congress and the letter signed by 47 Republican Senators reminding Iran that any nuclear deal with the Obama administration is non-binding unless Congress approves it, nations around the Middle East are now acting as if a nuclear Iran is a fait accompli.

Moreover, where the United States once acted as a counterbalance in the region by our presence in Iraq and Afghanistan, we’re now forced to admit Iran’s lead role in fighting ISIL in Iraq is, as Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey put it, “a positive thing.” In fact, it’s the consequence of Barack Obama’s unwillingness to again put “boots on the ground” in Iraq.

Iran is having a far easier time virtually taking over Iraq now than it did in an unsuccessful war during the 1980s. As The Wall Street Journal notes, Iran’s latest military excursion into fighting ISIL in Iraq could eventually win them a “Shiite arc of power” stretching from Tehran to the Mediterranean through Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Worried that a nuclear Iran will soon come to pass and concerned about Tehran’s influence in a recent coup in neighboring Yemen, Saudi Arabia found its own nuclear sponsor by recently signing a memorandum of understanding with South Korea for a feasibility study of building two nuclear reactors in the kingdom. Seeing that the Saudis are awash with oil and knowing they have vowed to “match the nuclear capabilities Iran is allowed to maintain as part of any final agreement reached with world powers,” it’s crystal clear to all but those unwilling to see that the Iranian deal opens the door to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, just as Netanyahu warned earlier this month.

We’ve heard statements that the deal with Iran is non-binding, or that the mullahs are much more moderate than in the past. But in that region of the world, talk is cheap and actions speak most clearly. The lack of leadership and willingness to throw away our hard-won advantages gained over the last decade told the Saudis all they needed to know about where America stands these days.

President George W. Bush assigned Iran to the “axis of evil,” but Obama believes Iran can negotiate in good faith. Perhaps we can self-correct this line of thought in the next election, but it’s plain the Saudis don’t want to take that chance.

Japanese Proverb: “The reputation of a thousand years may be determined by the conduct of one hour.”

Columnist Linda Chavez: “There is no doubt that the Ferguson Police Department has major problems and needs reform. … [Its] policy encourages police to make more traffic stops, conduct more searches, issue more tickets and make more arrests and the courts to issue more warrants and fines to drive up revenues. It’s a lousy policy – but one not unique to Ferguson. If the Justice Department were truly serious about changing the abuses more broadly, it would have conducted a larger study that looked at similar patterns in other localities – including largely white tourist towns, where traffic tickets are often a huge source of revenue. But Holder isn’t interested in the insatiable appetite of government for more revenues. He came to Ferguson in search of racism – and of course, he found it. … In every study of racial attitudes among Americans, whites are no likelier to harbor prejudices against people of other races than are blacks, Hispanics or Asians. Eric Holder will leave office as early as next week if the Senate confirms Loretta Lynch to be his successor. It will be none too soon. A man who could have done much to improve race relations will instead leave behind a sorry legacy of inflaming racial tensions when the nation most needed a healer.”

Columnist Charles Krauthammer: “Mrs. Clinton’s other major declaration was that the server containing the emails – owned, controlled and housed by her – ‘will remain private.’ Meaning: No one will get near them. This she learned not from Watergate but from Whitewater. Her husband acquiesced to the appointment of a Whitewater special prosecutor. Hillary objected strenuously. Her fear was that once someone is empowered to search, the searcher can roam freely. In the Clintons’ case, it led to impeachment because when the Lewinsky scandal broke, the special prosecutor added that to his portfolio. Hillary was determined never to permit another open-ended investigation. Which is why she decided even before being confirmed as secretary of state that only she would control her email. … The point of regulations is to ensure government transparency. The point of owning the server is to ensure opacity. … What you’re feeling now is Early Onset Clinton Fatigue. The CDC is recommending elaborate precautions. Forget it. The only known cure is Elizabeth Warren.”

Comedian Argus Hamilton: “Harrison Ford was reported in good shape in an L.A. hospital after he successfully crash-landed is private plane at the Penmar Golf Club in L.A. It made worldwide news. Fifteen minutes after the plane crash, Obama called the pro shop to make sure the golf course would pull through.”

Prof. Efraim Inbar, Director of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, told Arutz Sheva that Turkey has been supportive of Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria and Iraq, as it pursues greater influence in the Middle East.

Some experts have called it a “Neo-Ottoman” foreign policy, to regain influence in places that were once backwater provinces to the Ottoman Empire.

But plans to expand that influence have run into trouble. The relationships with both Israel and Syria have totally collapsed, but Turkey is now looking at influence through the Sunni Islamist movements in the Middle East.

“The Islamic Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda and ISIS – Turkey does not distinguish between them,” says Inbar. “They are helping ISIS with its wounded by treating them in Turkey and with weapons, and turning a blind eye to people coming (to Syria) from Europe. It has become a staging ground.”

Iraqi officials explained that Iranian involvement in the region is deepening.

Hadi al-Aamiri, leader of the “Badr” sect of the Iraqi parliament, said in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat Friday that the presence of Iranian advisers accompanying the Iraqi army is “a source of pride.”

“Why is there some sensitivity with respect to the presence of Iranian consultants here, when it is known that there are currently more than four thousand American advisers in Iraq?” he asked.

“The Iranian advisers accompany us on the battlefield and give us the best counseling, and we are proud of them, because they will help us to liberate the provinces of Nineveh and al-Anbar fully after we liberate Tikrit and Kirkuk,” he continued. “Those who speak against the Iranian advisers should thank and praise them – for without them and without Qasem Soleimani (commander of the Guard’s Quds force), Iraq would be under ISIS rule.”

“The scenario that we are preparing for is a multi-pronged terror threat directed against our forces and civilians in the Eilat area,”  Col. Arik Chen, deputy commander of Division 80 (the Red Division) said Thursday. Division 80 controls Israel’s longest expanse of border, across from both Egypt and Jordan. His comments take on added relevance amid the preparations for the Passover holiday, when tens of thousands of visitors and tourists are expected to hit the beaches of Eilat and the Dead Sea area.

“In the past, we have seen incidents in this area,”  he told military corespondents. “The scenario is a multi-pronged attack, not just at one site, and we will likely have to deal with this challenge without prior warning.”

EMP attack could cause catastrophic meltdown of America’s nuclear plants

Posted: 12 Mar 2015 10:08 PM PDT

EMP attack could cause catastrophic meltdown of America's nuclear plants The federal agencies regulating nuclear power are scrambling to find a solution to a potentially devastating threat: meltdown of nuclear reactors at such plants stemming from an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack on the U.S. power grid.  The good news is that the issue and proposed fix are easy. The bad news is that there is growing concern that an EMP attack, either from a North Korean nuclear bomb or a solar storm, will occur first. According to reports federal nuclear regulatory officials are focusing on the cooling pools used to store spent fuel rods that are still very radioactive and could catch fire and explode, spewing radioactive fallout into the atmosphere and across North America. More Giant Craters Spotted in Russia's Far North, Mystery ContinuesThe mystery deepens in the far north of Russia as Russian scientists have now discovered seven more giant craters in remote Siberia, a geologist told AFP on Thursday, adding that the mysterious phenomenon was believed to be linked to climate change.  The discovery of an enormous chasm in a far northern region known to locals as “the end of the world” in July last year prompted speculation it had been caused by a meteorite or even aliens. A YouTube video of the hole went viral and a group of scientists was despatched to investigate. “We have just learnt that in Yakutia, new information has emerged about a giant crater one kilometre (0.6 miles) in diameter,” the deputy director of the Oil and Gas Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vasily Bogoyavlensky, told AFP. This latest reports comes on the heels of a story we reported a couple weeks ago where scientists admitted that they were even afraid to investigate the cause of the mysterious craters opening in the Earth. So is this a result of “Climate Change” or is something else happening? FULL REPORT

California has about one year of water left

Officials on the West Coast are warning that Water is about to run out in one year for California! as the “wet” season draws to a close, it is clear that the paltry rain and snowfall have done almost nothing to alleviate epic drought conditions in California. January was the driest in California since record-keeping began in 1895. Groundwater and snowpack levels are at all-time lows. We’re not just up a creek without a paddle in California, we’re losing the creek too. Reports indicate that Data from NASA satellites show that the total amount of water stored in the Sacramento and San Joaquin river basins — that is, all of the snow, river and reservoir water, water in soils and groundwater combined — was 34 million acre-feet below normal in 2014. That loss is nearly 1.5 times the capacity of Lake Mead, America’s largest reservoir. FULL REPORT

But what does that even mean?  The leader was already due to visit Moscow in May as part of Second World War 70th-anniversary commemorations, in plans confirmed by the Kremlin. And after selecting Russia for his first official foreign visit since taking over the post from Kim Jong-il, the North Korean leader appears to have now earmarked the nation for a more lasting diplomatic collaboration. Athens threatens to seize German assets 'as compensation for Nazi war crimes'The Crisis in Greece may have just went from bad to worse as Greece has now threatened to seize German assets as compensation for Nazi war crimes – 70 years after the end of the Second World War.  According to reports from the Independent the threat, made by the Greek justice minister and reported in the daily Kathimerini newspaper, has been supported by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who told the Greek parliament he would pursue the “very technical and sensitive” matter.  Justice minister Nikos Paraskevopoulos has reportedly called for “war reparations, the repayment of a forced loan and the return of antiquities” from Germany, and said that an old court ruling gave him the power to sanction “the foreclosure of German assets in Greece” as a form of compensation. The World Against Israel – Truly Nothing New Under the Sun

As I watch in horror as anti Semitism spreads like a cancerous tumor throughout Europe, and as our White House shows such disdain for Israel and PM Netanyahu, I ponder as to why these things are happening. WHY is there such hatred for my people? Is this something new in the country touted as being Israel’s only friend in the world?

This led me to take a look at history, and what I am finding is this: Although America has proclaimed to be the only friend that Israel has in the world, the actions of our country toward Israel have never backed up the rhetoric — they only expose the evil that America feels and has always felt toward the Jews in their own land.

The screw-ups, incompetence and bureaucratic blame avoidance over the health insurance exchange tax forms make the healthcare.gov website fiasco look like a flawless product launch.

Rev. Graham: Obama, Holder Pushing a ‘New Morality That Does Not Include God’ — ‘An Anti-Christ Movement’

President Barack Obama and his outgoing attorney general, Eric Holder, are, along with “progressives” in government, forcing “a new morality” on the American people, a “morality that does not include God” and which is “an Anti-Christ movement,” said Reverend Franklin Graham.

The Hindu Shiva ‘Dance Of Destruction’ Filmed Inside CERN Collider

The LHC is the largest machine in the world. It took thousands of scientists, engineers and technicians decades to plan and build, and it continues to operate at the very boundaries of scientific knowledge.

“And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” Job 1:7 (KJV)

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator. It first started up on 10 September 2008, and remains the latest addition to CERN’s accelerator complex. The LHC consists of a 27-kilometer ring of superconducting magnets with a number of accelerating structures to boost the energy of the particles along the way.

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, has its headquarters in Geneva. At present, its Member States are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. India, Israel, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United States of America, Turkey, the European Commission and UNESCO have observer status. CERN Council is the body in which the representatives of the 20 Member States of the Organization decide on scientific programmes and financial resources.

So why, one might ask, has a very bizarre movie been filmed on location there featuring the Shiva ‘Dance Of Destruction‘? Yes, in fact, a statue of Nataraja depicting the Hindu god Shiva was dedicated there on-site back in 2004 when CERN was first constructed.

Symmetry movie trailer:

A CERN physicist, hard at work using the LHC to search for the smallest particle in existence , when a ghostly woman played by soprano Claron McFadden appears, asking him if he loves the particle more than he loves himself, and, if he could, would he become one with the particle. source

Now here is where it gets interesting. The significance of the Lord Nataraja sculpture is that the Hindu god Shiva is shown as first destroying the world, then recreating it. A Bengali chant talking about this says:

“Because You love the Burning-ground, I have made a Burning-ground of my heart – That You, Dark One, hunter of the Burning-ground, May dance Your eternal dance.”

The bible clearly tells us that the Hindu “dark one” who inhabits the “burning ground” is none other than Satan himself. Is the picture starting to become clear to you now?

The same “science” that inspired the builders of the Tower of Babel, men who like Satan said they did not need God to reach Heaven, is also behind the work of the people at CERN. People who have dedicated the whole of their research to the “dark one”.

There are no accidents and no coincidences. The New World Order is sending a clear-cut message. They are awaiting for the appearance of their lord, the Antichrist, and will attempt to destroy the world and recreate it in his image. The bible tells us how it all will end:

“But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.” Daniel 11:44,45 9 (KJV)

End Time Economy

The Bible warns of a time when people will have to work an entire day just to have enough money to purchase a loaf of bread. It’s hard to imagine a time when our purchasing power will be diminished to the point of having to struggle just to be able to feed one person. Right now the economies of many nations seem to be stable despite a few crisis areas like Greece, Portugal, and others. The notion that the economic condition of the world is fine right now is a false one. Regardless of what the Fed, the administration, or your personal financial portfolio communicates about the current economic situation……..it won’t last. A time is coming when the dollar will collapse and the conditions will be set for a global economy under the control of the Antichrist. Let’s look at where we are now and what the Bible says about the end times economy.

The whole business of Christianity contradicts sense. We give up the visible for invisible rewards. —Thomas Manton

March 9 quotes

The Daily Discovery (March 13, 2015)

Suffering and Prayer in the Christian Life – “Today we look at two important, yet often misunderstood doctrines in the Bible: Suffering and Prayer.  No one really wants to suffer.  We would all prefer a life of comfort.  But the Bible warns us that suffering is an important part of the Christian life–and that when it happens we should rejoice!   Tough teaching indeed.”

Seek the Lord While You Are Young – “Experience tells me that people’s hearts are seldom changed if they are not changed when young. Seldom indeed are men converted when they are old. Habits have deep roots. Once sin is allowed to settle in your heart, it will not be turned out at your bidding. Custom becomes second nature, and its chains are not easily broken.”

10 Marks of True Conversion – “In the midst of a busy family life, it can sometimes be difficult to get or make the time to sit down with our wife or husband and discuss the Bible. The Bible can be at the center of our church life in weekly services, at the center of our personal lives in private devotions, and even at the center of our family life in family worship, and yet not be at the center of our marriage.”

Obama Enacting His Religion As President – “David French has an article for National Review on Barack Obama’s religious views. There’s a lot of significant information there, but here are some good portions that have implications beyond Obama…”

Possessing the Treasure – “In his fine book Escape from Reason, Francis Schaeffer analyzed 20th Century philosophy, science, art, and popular culture to get to the ’cause,’ if you will, of the decline of reason, which was and is still shaping our society. Modern thought in our time, it seems, has been diverted from an eternal, heavenly focus to one that is entirely geared to the temporal. Part of his thesis is that the advent of humanistic philosophy and reason began with Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274). He contends that prior to Aquinas, the heavenly things were all-important, but since his teaching and discussion of “nature and grace,” the focus of human thought has made the temporal all-important with the heavenly becoming only an abstract ‘unreality.’”

Challenge Response: Animals Also Feel Pain and Suffer

When putting the child down, if the child lifted his head, you were to push his head down and say “no” firmly. If he lifted his head again, you were to spank him on the backside with the rubber eraser end of a pencil or a cardboard tube from a clothes hanger. You were supposed to strike the baby hard enough to make him cry. You repeated this process until the baby complied, usually by falling asleep.

The Integrity of Words and Our Confession of Faith

Theological education is a deadly serious business. The stakes are so high. A theological seminary that serves faithfully will be a source of health and life for the church, but an unfaithful seminary will set loose a torrent of trouble, untruth, and sickness upon Christ’s people. Inevitably, the seminaries are the incubators of the church’s future. The teaching imparted to seminarians will shortly be inflicted upon congregations, where the result will be either fruitfulness or barrenness, vitality or lethargy, advance or decline, spiritual life, or spiritual death.

Third, and most importantly, by focusing on the cross Luther picks up on the Pauline notion of the cross as the revelation of God’s purposes and as the criterion for truth in theology and church life. This last point is arguably his most important and original contribution to the doctrine of the church. It connects to his understanding of revelation, of the gospel, and of the church’s embodiment of those two things prior to the Second Coming and the Final Judgment.

Stop Saying “Divorce Causes Broken Homes.”

Divorce doesn’t prevent a father from providing. It often just reveals the fact that he never did. Not all abusers utilize financial abuse, it’s just the one thing the statistics focus on because it’s easily measured. But even then, divorce is painted as the culprit instead of the one who is “worse than an infidel.” There’s nothing preventing a parent from providing MORE than what the courts mandate. I know of fathers who have/do. The problem isn’t the divorce. Divorce calls attention to the problem.

It’s important to keep this in mind when reading Reformed works that criticize the theology and practice of Rome. Protestants have often used harsh language when writing against Rome. Although these Protestant writers were not without sin, by in large Rome’s corruption and abuses deserve harsh language because Rome distorts the gospel, binds consciences, and takes the spotlight off of Christ, his promises, and his love. The Downward Plunge of American Christianity

by Bill Muehlenberg

There is no shortage of examples of how the church in America is doing a great job of subverting the faith from within. Forget about all the external enemies and threats to biblical Christianity when so many folks within the church seem to be single-handedly smashing it down.

I just encountered two more shocking examples of this today. No wonder the church is in such a mess when those who claim to be Christians are scoring own goals. For those not familiar with that term, ‘an own goal is when a player scores a goal against their own – not the opposing – team.’

In biblical thought, we are either scoring goals for Jesus or we are scoring goals for Satan. These two examples show us just who is getting all the goals here. They are shockers, but are sadly representative of far too much capitulation, cluelessness, carnality, compromise and cowardice in American Christian circles.

Obama Enacting His Religion As President

David French has an article for National Review on Barack Obama’s religious views. There’s a lot of significant information there, but here are some good portions that have implications beyond Obama:

5 Reasons Why Your Marriage Matters

Though I’ve written often on marriage (see this and this and this and, somewhat famously, this), I am returning to it from a number of angles, Lord willing. My hope is both to help couples, and to give an “assist” to fellow-pastors.

Here I just have a simple point to make: your marriage matters.

“Matters” to whom? Well:

It matters to God. Really, if I’m writing to actual Christians, we should be able to stop with this one, shouldn’t we? You took vows invested with meaning He’d given to them, and He cares about that (Num. 30:2; Deut. 23:21-23; Pss. 61:8; 76:11; Prov. 20:25; Eccl. 5:5). He is invested in your marriage. He invented it, it’s His institution, and you entered into it.

It matters to your spouse. You promised that man, that woman, that (s)he could trust you absolutely. Brother, you promised to lead and love and sacrifice, as Christ did for the church. Sister, you promised to respect and to subordinate yourself, as the church should do towards Christ. You told this person, “Though all else fail you, you can count on me. You can forget about looking for sex or love or devotion anywhere else. I’m your man/woman.”

It matters to you. In more ways than you can think, it matters to you. Let’s just start with the boneheadedly obvious: supposing you’re in a marriage that is other-than-humming, and there’s something you can do about it. But you’re not. Why? You were going to get going on that when, exactly? When life really starts? Dude, sister, news flash: it started. When you get to Heaven? That’s stupid. When the kids are grown? That’s stupid, hateful, and irresponsible (see below).

It matters to your children. This is the saddest part. We all say we think it’s the saddest part — even people who tolerate and even cultivate marriage-harming sin in themselves pay lip-service to caring about The Children, while their lives show they care a whole lot more about unrepentantly indulging their flesh in this or that way. But kids see, they notice, they take note, they know at some level, and they are harmed. Not merely discouraged, distracted; harmed. Home should be a safe, healthy, Christward place for them. They get their ideas about marriage by watching yours.

It matters to your church. Maybe not right away, because it is possible to put on a good face for an hour or two a week. But you can’t be giving yourself to godly, Spirit-led worship and service with a bunch of relative strangers if you’re not obeying the great and the second commandment (see numbers 1 and 2, above) at home, can you? Does that make any kind of sense? Seriously. Wake up.

Abrahamic Covenant Fulfilled By Christ

“The Abrahamic covenant referred to blessings that were YET FUTURE (e.g.. the justification of “all the nations” (Gal 3:8) through faith in Christ. The New Covenant on the other hand speaks of these same blessings NOW REALIZED “in the fullness of time.”

Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” Gal 3:8

Paul describes the events surrounding the coming of Christ and the inauguration of the New Covenant by the term “Faith”. He does this in order to contrast the gospel’s central principle (faith) with the Old Covenant’s central principle (works).

With the coming of Christ, Promise finds its culmination and fulfillment. “All the promises of God find their ‘Yes’ in Him.” Those promises include Christ’s death and resurrection for the salvation of His people, the ingathering of the Gentiles and their justification by faith, personal “teaching” from God for every true child of Abraham, and especially the “promised” gift of the Holy Spirit.

With the coming of Christ, Law also finds its culmination and fulfillment. Christ fulfills every one of the Law’s prophesies, sacrifices, types, and shadows. He also fulfills every righteous principle of moral conduct embodied in the Law. Not only this, but Christ fulfills all the legal “conditions” of the Mosaic Law represented by its blessings and curses. By His perfect life, He satisfies on our behalf the Law’s positive demands, and by His perfect death, He satisfies on our behalf the Law’s negative demands.

Meditating on the Miseries of the Damned

WhitefieldThis week, I came across a remarkable sermon from George Whitefield, entitled, “The Eternity of Hell-Torments,” which he preached in London in 1738. When the reality of the fate of those who perish in this life without Christ is again pressed upon one’s conscience, it always seems like a burden too great to bear. But, as Whitefield would say in the sermon, “If the bare mentioning the torments of the damned is so shocking, how terrible must the enduring of them be!” Truly this is the most solemn of subjects. But we as Christians — as preachers of the Gospel of Christ — we must give our minds and hearts to the biblical teaching of the unbeliever’s fate. And Whitefield has done us an excellent service. You can read the sermon in full here, but I wanted to highlight his conclusion today on Cripplegate.

Five Marks of a False Convert

Being a Christian is by far the greatest blessing one could receive. Who can reject the glory of God and the awesome love and forgiveness that Jesus has to offer? Yet sadly, there are many out there who have convinced themselves that they are Christians when, unfortunately, they are not. I have put together a short list of signs that you can use to examine yourself (or someone else) to test whether or not you are truly in the faith. This is not an exhaustive list, nor is it meant to discourage true believers. Every Christian struggles with certain things, some more than others.

If you are a relatively new convert, expect to struggle more than the seasoned Christian who has been saved and serving God for decades. The fact is you should be improving constantly in all of these areas. There may be ups and downs, but if you take a look at the last year of your life and you see no improvement in any of these signs, I would suggest you start praying and ask God to open your eyes and reveal himself to you. Podcast Episode #106

SUBSCRIBE: iTunes • RSS • Stitcher • TuneIn Radio

Many churches are averse to change when it comes to traditions. And pastors and church leaders often realize problem areas too late. So today on the podcast, we cover the ten most fiercely defended traditions in the church and discuss ways in which you can enact change if and when it is needed.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Worship and music style are not as divisive as they once were.
  • Items related the worship service (time, structure, elements, etc.) are the hardest to change in a church.
  • One of the ways that change can be implemented in a church is through a sense of urgency.
  • Smaller churches tend to have more expectations for pastors than larger churches.
  • Many churches have too many committees and non-functioning committees.
  • Business meetings have become a source of division in churches rather than one of direction.

The 10 most fiercely defended traditions are:

  1. Worship and music style.
  2. Order of worship service.
  3. Times of worship service(s).
  4. Role of the pastor.
  5. Committee structure.
  6. Specific ministries and programs.
  7. Location of church facility.
  8. Use of specific rooms.

The Only Two Step Healing

Q. First let me say how much I love your web site and how much you have taught me.  My question is in Mark 8: 22-25. This is the first and only time I’ve seen where it took Jesus twice to heal someone. The blind man in Bethsaida. Do you know of any other place something like this takes place? Is there anything special we can learn from this passage?

The Times Of The Gentiles

Q. Why do you and many others refer to the beginning of the Times of the Gentiles as starting with Nebuchadnezzar instead of earlier when the Assyrians conquered northern Israel?  Why isn’t that part of the reigning and trampling of Gentiles?

Idols In Their Bedrooms

Q.   Please advise me on the following: my elderly mother and unmarried sister are moving in with me and my husband. They are both practicing Catholics and have idols in their bedrooms. My husband and I are both believers and we have been praying for their salvation. My husband says they should not bring their idols with them but I do not want to offend them and risk being self-righteous because I know that only the Lord knows their hearts. What is the best approach to them?

Could Hillary Clinton be sent to prison because of her secret e-mail server?

Your puny laws don't apply to Queen Hillary! Your puny laws don’t apply to Queen Hillary!

The first way is in the Washington Times.

The Obama administration will soon find itself in court having to explain to federal judges why it never told anyone former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton used a secret email address, potentially spoiling dozens of open records requests, experts said Wednesday.

And Mrs. Clinton could face up to three years in prison per message if she is found to have broken her word and handled classified information on the secret account, one open records expert told The Washington Times.

The legal challenges have already begun, with The Associated Press filing a federal lawsuit saying the State Department has foiled five years’ worth of requests for Mrs. Clinton’s emails, but never told them or the court that she kept her own server — meaning that her emails weren’t being searched.

Democrats holding up Republican bill that gets tough on sex-trafficking

Life News reports:

Senate Democrats today continued to block a bill to help human trafficking victims because the measure won’t pay for their abortions.

The legislation passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee without any problems but, now that it’s slated for consideration on the floor of the U.S. Senate, pro-abortion activists are raising a stink about how funds for restitution for human trafficking victims won’t pay for abortions. The objection is offensive to victims of human trafficking and millions of girls and young women around the world who are victimized by it, putting abortion ahead of meeting their needs.

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, a pro-life Republican, is the lead sponsor of the measure to help human trafficking victims and aides to pro-abortion Democrats apparently missed the fact, during the committee hearing, that Cornyn crafted the bill in a way to help women as opposed to making Americans pay for…

Five Marks of a False Convert

Polemics Report

Editors Note. This article was originally written and posted at Jeff Maples Blog and is being reprinted here with permission.

The fact…

Twenty Ways to Answer A Fool [13]

Does Christianity Sanction Slavery?

It has been a while since I have visited with Chaz Bufe and his 20 Reasons to Abandon Christianity. I am coming down to the final handful, and with this post I take a look at Chaz’s attempt to charge Christianity with the horrors of slavery that has been prominent throughout the history of humanity.

15. Christianity sanctions slavery. The African slave trade was almost entirely conducted by Christians. They transported their victims to the New World in slave ships with names such as “Mercy” and “Jesus,” where they were bought by Christians, both Catholic and Protestant. Organized Christianity was not silent on this horror: it actively encouraged it and engaged in it. From the friars who enslaved Native Americans in the Southwest and Mexico to the Protestant preachers who defended slavery from the pulpit in Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia, the record of Christianity as regards…

Emergent ‘Christianity’ Strikes Again, in Florida

Zwinglius Redivivus

In its ongoing quest to be totally heretical, the Emergent segment of the Church of Laodicea …

… has been running what the city deems a sexually-charged nightclub during Spring Break.  “It’s very disturbing, especially inside our city limits here in Bay County,” Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman told reporters this week. “I think we’re better than that.”

The Life Center Church, run by leader Markus Bishop, has been hosting “Spring Break Amnesia” at its facility since late February, featuring events and merchandise that even the local authorities have found to be shocking for a place of worship.  “A bottle club, charging $20 at the door and selling obscene T-shirts is not being used as a church,” Property Appraiser Dan Sowell told the Panama City News Herald. “A God-fearing, God-honoring church in January does not sponsor this type of debauchery in March.”

Debauchery is what Emergent ‘Christianity’ does best.  Indeed, it’s…

Thy Word Alone is Truth: Examining All Things in the Refining Furnace of Scripture

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven… 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

Matthew 5:43-46

There is neither a greater, nor more difficult calling by Jesus Christ, then the call to forgive even our worst and most spiteful enemies. Jesus himself exhibited this most difficult act, while hanging cold, naked and in agony on a cross. His ability to forgive those who destroyed his body and humiliated him in front of his enemies was truly the product of a life of love, trust and obedience to his Father in heaven…and only when we do the same through the power of the…

NTEB Blog: Southern Baptist Churches Begin Embracing Roman Catholic Contemplative Spirituality

My research on one pastor who insists that our God and Allah are one and the same, made me curious as to what other errant teachings might also abound. Suddenly, I realized that I was seeing only the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

“Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.” Acts 20:30 (KJV)

It seems that the Emergent Church which teaches Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) has slithered its way into our Southern Baptist churches. The proper spirituality of the Christian, being sola Scriptura, is being replaced by spiritual mysticism, which can be traced back to the Roman Catholic church.

From Pastor Ken Silva of Apprising Ministries:

“Leaving this aside now the evangelical community is embarking upon a very dangerous spiritual game of Russian roulette embracing highly subjective Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM), such as that taught by Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster along with his spiritual twin and Southern Baptist minister Dallas Willard. Sadly this is yet another bad by-product of its welcoming in the sinfully ecumenical neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church aka the Emerging Church, of which that dubious duo were key mentors.

You may know that CSM is merely repackaged Roman Catholic mysticism and was a core doctrine of the EC from its hatching in hell; in addition it plays a critical role as the neo-Gnostic foundation of its new postmodern version of Progressive Christian theology under their spiritual circus “big tent” Emergence Christianity. As spurious CSM now spreads as leaven throughout the entire lump of the church visible it’s become the cause of a growing syncretism; and without a doubt one of the biggest syncretists within evangelicalism is the religious chameleon Purpose Driven Pope Rick Warren.” [1] – source

When preachers lose sight of their need to depend on and teach from the Word of God alone, their lofty and contrived ideas land them on a slippery slope which eventually leads to total apostasy.

Rick Warren, of Saddleback Church and Purpose Driven Life/Church fame, has been on the slippery slope for most of his time as a pastor. He is not grounded in God’s Word, so he is vulnerable to being deceived and then deceiving others along the way. The people are loving what he’s selling. He keeps packing them into his “bigtop” and the circus keeps getting crazier.

Rick Warren has called the Pope “The Pope of all Christians.” I am a Christian, and I will tell you right now that the Pope is not my Pope — he is nothing to me in my walk with God. After Rick Warren’s PDL book came out and was on the NY Times best seller list for many months, he automatically assumed that the success of his book was proof that God was blessing his ministry.

Then came the Purpose Driven Church, and I found out that Warren was emailing his propaganda to Southern Baptist pastors across the world on a weekly basis. Discernment is one of the greatest gifts from the Lord. But in order to discern spirits, one must go to the only source that is reliable, and that is God’s Holy Word. When one has the Word in their hearts and minds from reading the Bible, then discernment becomes second nature. But still we are admonished to compare what we hear or read against His holy Word.

God’s Word MUST reign supreme in His followers hearts, minds and spirits.

Rick Warren has now jumped on the CSM bandwagon, and in turn has given the green light to his pastor followers. Warrens’ love for the RCC has been spreading as well. The Southern Baptist Convention is, sorry to say, an ineffective corporate entity, which does not get involved in Baptist churches who are shifting away from Baptist doctrine into the New Age of CSM. I spoke with one of the SBC leaders, and he confirmed this to me. I felt like I was speaking to a politician.

Excellent expose on Rick Warren’s and Emergent Church promotion of mysticism:

When I was saved in 1983, the couple who lead me to Christ belonged to a Charismatic church. When I left that church (it was far to drive) I sought out a church similar to my first church. What did I know? I came from Judaism into to being a Jewish Christian. I knew virtually nothing about denominations and such.

I did know that the new charismatic church made me very uncomfortable. People stood up on Sunday mornings, and said “I have a word of knowledge” or “Thus saith God.” Sometimes, they would have visions and speak in tongues with no interpreter. I read my Bible constantly, and something was very wrong — I could feel it. How did I know if these words spoken from people were Words from God? Couldn’t they be from the person? And in that case, why would I need to know these words?

I wound up in a SBC church. I felt safer there. I believed that the Southern Baptist churches were Biblically sound and trustworthy – well at least the one I was attending. I didn’t have to worry about people standing up and grabbing a microphone, to impart something from God. I believed that everything I would want to know from the Lord, was in the Bible.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 2: 16-17 (KJV)

No church on this earth is perfect because they are all made up of people. But the Lord wants leadership to be looking to Him in prayer, and His Word for teaching.

What is Contemplative Spirituality? I took this straight from gotquestions.org:

Question: “What is contemplative spirituality?”

Answer: Contemplative spirituality is an extremely dangerous practice for any person who desires to live a biblical, God-centered life. It is most commonly associated with the emerging church movement, which is riddled with false teachings. It is also used by many different groups that have little, if any, connection with Christianity.

In practice, contemplative spirituality is primarily centered on meditation, although not meditation with a biblical perspective. Passages such as Joshua 1:8 actually exhort us to meditate: “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Notice what the focus of meditation should be—the Word of God. Contemplative spirituality-driven meditation focuses on nothing, literally. A practitioner is exhorted to completely empty his/her mind, to just “be.” Supposedly, this helps one to open up to a greater spiritual experience. However, we are exhorted in Scripture to transform our minds to that of Christ’s, to have His mind. Emptying our minds is contrary to such active, conscious transformation.

Contemplative spirituality also encourages the pursuit of a mystical experience with God. Mysticism is the belief that knowledge of God, spiritual truth, and ultimate reality can be gained through subjective experience. This emphasis on experiential knowledge erodes the authority of Scripture. We know God according to His Word. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). God’s Word is complete. There is no reason to believe that God adds additional teachings or truths to His Word through mystical experiences. Instead, our faith and what we know about God is based on fact.

The website for the Center for Contemplative Spirituality sums it up well: “We come from a variety of secular and religious backgrounds and we each seek to enrich our journey through spiritual practice and study of the world’s great spiritual traditions. We desire to draw closer to the loving Spirit which pervades all creation and which inspires our compassion for all beings.” There is absolutely nothing biblical about such goals. Studying the world’s “spiritual traditions” is an exercise in futility because any spiritual tradition other than that which exalts Christ is falsehood. The only way to draw closer to God is through the path He has ordained—Jesus Christ and the Word. [2] – source

In my research of the Baptist pastor who believes that God and Allah are the same, I noticed that he was also bringing “Catholic” practices into his church. He has been talking to his congregation about Lent. He is also all about ecumenicalism, and seems very willing to unite for unity sake, even seeing that choice diluting the message of Jesus Christ, and blurring the lines between the RCC and Evangelical Christians, and in his case, even Islam! I believe this is his intent.

From Way of Life Ministries:

Everywhere we look “evangelicals” are turning to Roman Catholic styles of contemplative spirituality (which in many cases were borrowed from pagan sources), such as ritualistic rote prayers, chanting, meditation, centering prayer, the use of prayer beads, Stations of the Cross, lectio divina, labyrinths, and “the daily office.”

The cover story for the February 2008 issue of Christianity Today was “The Future Lies in the Past,” and it describes the “lost secrets of the ancient church” that are being rediscovered by evangelicals. The ancient church in question happens to be the Roman Catholic, beginning with the so-called “church fathers” of the early centuries.

The article observes that many young evangelicals dislike both “traditional Christianity” and the seeker sensitive churches. Traditional Christianity is described as too focused on “being right,” too much into “Bible studies” and “apologetics materials.” Instead, the young evangelicals are lusting after “a renewed encounter with a God” that goes beyond “doctrinal definitions.” This, of course, is a perfect definition of mysticism. It refers to experiencing God beyond the boundaries of Scripture.

Christianity Today recommends that evangelicals “stop debating” and just “embody Christianity.” Toward this end they should “embrace symbols and sacraments” and dialogue with “Catholicism and Orthodoxy”; they should “break out the candles and incense” and pray the “lectio divina” and learn the “Catholic ascetic disciplines” from “practicing monks and nuns.”

Christianity Today says that this “search for historic roots” will lead “to a deepening ecumenical conversation, and a recognition by evangelicals that the Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox are fellow Christians with much to teach us.”

This is a no-holds-barred invitation to Catholic mysticism, and it will not lead to light but to the same darkness that has characterized Rome throughout its history, and it will lead beyond Rome to the paganism from which Rome originally borrowed its “contemplative practices.” [3] – source

I am not surprised at all by Christianity Today’s remarks. It seems that they have been an apostate outfit for a very long time.

I used to watch Dr. Ed Young on TV when the kids were small. I loved him. It grieves me to tell you that he has bought the Emerging church practices, lock stock and barrel. Satan is tricking these formerly sound teachers of God’s Word.

Brethren, this is just more proof that we must be in the end of the end times. Who would have ever thought that the Southern Baptist Church would be joyfully receiving these mystical, New Age practices into their sanctuaries? Who would have ever thought that the Evangelical churches would be cozying up to the Roman Catholic Church?

The devil is SO crafty.

40 Days to the Cross: Reflections from Great Thinkers (Week Three: Friday)

Day 21: Does the resurrection account for the conversion of Saul of Tarsus?

Confession: Psalm 143:1–6

O Yahweh, hear my prayer;

listen to my supplications.

In your faithfulness answer me,

and in your righteousness.

And do not enter into judgment with your servant,

because no one alive is righteous before you.

For the enemy has pursued my soul;

he has crushed my life to the ground.

He has made me dwell in dark places

like those long dead.

And so my spirit grows faint within me;

my heart within me is desolate.

I remember the days of long ago;

I meditate on all your doings.

I muse on the labor of your hands.

I stretch out my hands to you;

my soul longs for you like a dry land. Selah

Reading: Mark 12:38–44

And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like walking around in long robes and greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets, who devour the houses of widows and pray lengthy prayers for the sake of appearance. These will receive more severe condemnation!”

And he sat down opposite the contribution box and was observing how the crowd was putting coins into the contribution box. And many rich people were putting in many coins. And one poor widow came and put in two small copper coins (that is, a penny). And summoning his disciples, he said to them, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow put in more than all those who put offerings into the contribution box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in everything she had, her whole means of subsistence.”

An ungodly world may reckon the poor in spirit to be contemptible, but God writes them down among His peers and princes. His judgment is true and far more to be esteemed than the opinions of men or angels.

Only if we are poor in spirit do we have evidence that heaven is ours. But having that mark of blessedness, all things are ours—whether things present or things to come. To the poor in spirit belong all the security, honor, and happiness which the gospel kingdom is calculated to give upon earth; even here below they may eat of its dainties without question, and revel in its delights without fear.

Theirs also are the things not seen as yet, reserved for future revelation, theirs the second advent, theirs the glory, theirs the fifth great monarchy, theirs the resurrection, theirs the beatific vision, theirs the eternal ecstasy.

—Charles H. Spurgeon

The Pharisees’ pride shows their self-sufficienct spirituality. Are there areas in your life where you feel like you do not need God’s intervention? Write those areas down and ask God for His help in becoming reliant on Him in all things.[1]

He who eats this bread will live forever

Possessing the Treasure

by Mike Ratliff

53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.” (John 6:53-58 NASB)

In January 1986 God intervened in my life…
