Chile’s Villarrica volcano spews ash in renewed activity

Posted: 21 Mar 2015 07:37 PM PDT

Chile’s Villarrica volcano spews ash in renewed activityAccording to recent reports The Villarrica volcano in southern Chile, which erupted on 3 March, has shown renewed activity. Officials raised the alert in areas near the Villarrica to orange, the second highest, and cancelled classes for more than 5,500 pupils. Thousands of people were evacuated earlier this month when it spewed ash and lava 1,000m (3,300ft) into the air. The 2840m-high Villarrica is popular with hikers. Hundreds climb the peak each summer to peer inside the crater. No-one died in the eruption on 3 March but there have been fatalities in the past. More than 100 people are thought to have been killed in mudflows on the slopes of the volcano during the 20th Century. FULL REPORT

Monster fissure grows, continues to threaten cliffside homes above Lake Whitney in TexasPosted: 21 Mar 2015 07:34 PM PDT

Monster fissure grows, continues to threaten cliffside homes above Lake Whitney in TexasAn alarming report is coming out of Texas as Extinction Protocol is reporting that A house-eating fracture above a Texas lake is growing and could threaten more luxury properties, homeowners said. The giant chasm cuts across a cliff above Lake Whitney, and nervous observers worry they’re one big rain away from a life-threatening disaster. “It’s getting larger… it’s getting wider… it’s getting deeper,” neighbor Steve Mellgren told WFAA 8. The owners of a $1 million mansion were forced to abandon their cliffhanging dream home in 2014 when the crack began to pare away the ground beneath them. They ultimately made the heartrending decision to torch the teetering structure before it toppled onto boaters below. The fiery demolition attracted scores of curious onlookers who thought they were witnessing a once-in-lifetime event. But there could be more fireworks on the precipice sooner than anyone imagined. “If we ever get a 5- or 6-inch rain, it could be the crowning blow,” Mellgren told WFAA 8. FULL REPORT

Moderate earthquake shakes buildings in Mexico CityPosted: 21 Mar 2015 07:30 PM PDT

https://theextinctionprotocol.wordpress.com/2015/03/21/moderate-earthquake-shakes-buildings-in-mexico-city/According to reports from Mexico City a Moderate Earthquake has shook up The Tulcingo del Valle  Region, The quake hit at 4.30pm local time in the state of Puebla near Tulcingo del Valle – around 100 miles away from Mexico City. But residents of the faraway capital were forced to flee shaking buildings. The city is vulnerable to distant earthquakes because much of it sits atop the muddy sediments of drained lake beds that wiggle like jelly when earthquake waves hit it. Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera said many evacuations were reported in the capital but officials received no reports of damage or injuries. The earthquake had a depth of 31 miles. A magnitude-8.1 quake in 1985 that killed at least 6,000 people and destroyed many buildings in Mexico City was centered 250 miles away on the Pacific Coast. SOURCE

Scientists at Large Hadron Collider hope to make contact with parallel universe in daysPosted: 21 Mar 2015 07:27 PM PDT

Scientists at Large Hadron Collider hope to make contact with parallel universe in daysThe staggeringly complex LHC ‘atom smasher’ at the CERN centre in Geneva, Switzerland, will be fired up to its highest energy levels ever in a bid to detect – or even create – miniature black holes. If successful a completely new universe will be revealed – rewriting not only the physics books but the philosophy books too. It is even possible that gravity from our own universe may ‘leak’ into this parallel universe, scientists at the LHC say. The experiment is sure to inflame alarmist critics of the LHC, many of whom initially warned the high energy particle collider would spell the end of our universe with the creation a black hole of its own. But so far Geneva remains intact and comfortably outside the event horizon. Indeed the LHC has been spectacularly successful. First scientists proved the existence of the elusive Higgs boson ‘God particle’ – a key building block of the universe – and it is seemingly well on the way to nailing ‘dark matter’ – a previously undetectable theoretical possibility that is now thought to make up the majority of matter in the universe. But next week’s experiment is considered to be a game changer. Mir Faizal, one of the three-strong team of physicists behind the experiment, said: “Just as many parallel sheets of paper, which are two dimensional objects [breadth and length] can exist in a third dimension [height], parallel universes can also exist in higher dimensions. We predict that gravity can leak into extra dimensions, and if it does, then miniature black holes can be produced at the LHC.” Normally, when people think of the multi-verse, they think of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, where every possibility is actualized. “This cannot be tested and so it is philosophy and not science. This is not what we mean by parallel universes. What we mean is real universes in extra dimensions.” FULL REPORT

School Board Unanimously Votes Not to Restore Ten Commandments Plaque Following RemovalPosted: 21 Mar 2015 07:23 PM PDT

School Board Unanimously Votes Not to Restore Ten Commandments Plaque Following RemovalIf you’re looking for the Ten Commandments plaque to be restored at a local high school in Ohio, don’t hold your breath because according to a new report by Christian News Network a school board in Ohio has voted unanimously not to restore a nearly 60-year-old plaque of the Ten Commandments that was removed from a local high school last year following a complaint. The Marion City Schools Board agreed on Monday to indefinitely “loan” the plaque to the Marion County Historical Society for display instead of its customary location at Harding High School. The Ten Commandments display had been donated to the school by the class of 1956, and has been subsequently hanging in the hallway for decades next to the Preamble to the United States Constitution. But last year, an anonymous parent complained that the plaque violated the “separation of church and state” and threatened to call the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) about the matter. Harding Principal Kirk Koennecke decided to take down the plaque, which was then relocated to the office of Superintendent Gary Barber. However, the removal generated controversy and a number of students began to petition the board to put the display back up. “Taking down the Ten Commandments has caused more problems than leaving them up,” said Harding Herald Editor Cheyenne Abrams in December. Obama Calls for American Pastor Imprisoned in Iran to Be Released for Persian New YearPosted: 21 Mar 2015 07:18 PM PDT

Obama Calls for American Pastor Imprisoned in Iran to Be Released for Persian New YearAccording to a new report from Christian News Network Barack Obama issued a call on Friday for an American pastor imprisoned in Iran to be released for the Persian New Year, which began yesterday. As a tradition during the Iranian holiday Nowruz, some prisoners are set free or receive reduced sentences. Obama called upon the Iranian government on Friday to free Pastor Saeed Abedini during the observance, among other Americans who are also being held in the country. “Saeed Abedini of Boise, Idaho has spent two and a half years detained in Iran on charges related to his religious beliefs,” he said. “He must be returned to his wife and two young children, who needlessly continue to grow up without their father.” As previously reported, Abedini, a former Iranian Muslim turned Christian, left Iran in 2005 and moved to the United States with his wife and two children to find religious freedom after facing conflict with authorities for planting house churches in the county. In 2012, he traveled back to Iran to build an orphanage and visit his parents—and was about to return to the states—when he was taken into custody. Abedini was later charged with threatening the national security of Iran, and for attempting to turn youth in the nation away from Islam and toward Christianity. He was then sentenced to eight years in Iran’s notorious Evin Prison, where he has spent the past two years behind bars. FULL REPORT

Obama Proposes Spending Zero Dollars To Defend Against A Russian Nuclear AttackPosted: 21 Mar 2015 04:20 PM PDT

Obama Proposes Spending Zero Dollars To Defend Against A Russian Nuclear AttackThe Obama Administration is proposing that the United States spend about a billion dollars per week in the fiscal year beginning October 1 to defend Afghanistan, Iraq and other nations against various threats they face. That’s how much money is in the Pentagon’s request for “overseas contingency operations.”  So guess how much money the administration is seeking to defend America’s homeland against an attack from Russia using nuclear-armed ballistic missiles. Russia has about 1,600 missile warheads capable of reaching U.S. territory, and if even a small fraction were launched, they could wipe out our electric grid, our financial networks, and quite possibly the whole U.S. economy. The answer is that the administration is proposing to spend nothing. Even though we know that most of those Russian warheads are pointed at America. Even though we know relations with Russia are deteriorating. Even though we know that Vladimir Putin’s subordinates have repeatedly threatened the West with nuclear consequences if it seeks to block expansionist moves along the Russian periphery such as last year’s invasion of Ukraine. Possible Proof for Noah’s Flood Found at Bottom of Atlantic Ocean

(CN) — Scientists exploring the Atlantic Ocean have discovered mysterious metallic nodules on the ocean floor that may provide telltale evidence of the Great Flood.

Last month, a German research team announced the discovery of dense clusters of manganese nodules on the ocean floor. Using a mesh net intended to scoop up marine life, the researchers accidentally brought up balls of manganese ore from over three miles below the water’s surface.

Get Ready for Embryos From Two Men or Two WomenAre you still not convinced that we are repeating the Days of Noah and Lot? Is Scientists pressing the envelope of Morality and Creation? According to a new report from Time, Genetic research is advancing to the day when gay couples could fulfill their dreams of having children related to them both. I’ve helped many same-sex couples over the years have children of their own through assisted reproductive procedures. Egg donation and surrogacy allow two gay men to have children genetically related to one partner and the egg donor, but not to both. It’s the same dynamic for lesbians and sperm donors. I’ve been asked many times by countless same-sex couples over the years: “can we make a baby that’s a combination of both of us?” It’s a question that I’ve considered from a scientific and medical perspective for a long time. Advances in genetic research keep getting us closer to the day when the answer to that question is “yes.”  Throughout history, a child has come from a man and a woman. It’s been one of the tenets of anti-gay activists for decades: “Two men can’t have a biological child, and two women can’t have one either.” For some anti-gay people, that seems to make these relationships somehow wrong, as though any relationship that can’t result in a child should somehow be forbidden. They deem it unnatural in the eyes of God. FULL REPORT

Franklin Graham Says Bible End Times Prophecy of ‘Distress of Nations’ Reflects World’s Conflicts TodayPosted: 20 Mar 2015 12:26 PM PDT

Franklin Graham Says Bible End Times Prophecy of 'Distress of Nations' Reflects World's Conflicts TodayRecently Fox News caught up with Franklin Graham and discussed Biblical Events happening around the world and according to a recent interview The Rev. Franklin Graham believes that the numerous world conflicts people are witnessing today reflect passages in the Bible that talk about the end times and the “distress of nations.” “The Bible tells us that in the end times there will be ‘distress of nations with perplexity,’” Graham said on Facebook, referring to Luke 21:25.  The passage reads: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.” Graham added that “this is certainly the case today.” He offered as examples: “The meltdown of the Middle East. The rise of anti-Semitism in Europe and here in the America. China and Russia building their military at cosmic speed. The financial crises worldwide. The political crisis in Washington.” The evangelical preacher continued: “Israel is desperate to have peace, but the Bible says ‘they will seek peace but there shall be none.’ There is only one ultimate, eternal solution — Jesus Christ and Him alone.” Graham has spoken out on current international crises, like the rise of terror group ISIS and the persecution of Christians, a number of times in recent months. Demon-Filled Man Mocks, Slaps ‘Powerless’ Charismatic PastorPosted: 20 Mar 2015 12:14 PM PDT

Demon-Filled Man Mocks, Slaps 'Powerless' Charismatic PastorI am a big proponent of the supernatural power of God. I came into it when I was baptized in the Holy Ghost shortly after my conversion. I will never understand men who reason away or dumb down the supernatural workings of God and His sacred gifts. I realize there are sensationalists and religious fanatics who abuse and misuse God’s gifts and power, but that doesn’t do away with the real. Once you’ve tasted the genuine move of the Holy Spirit it is difficult to settle for anything else. Jimmy Horton was a frontline soldier in the Vietnam War. While engaged in combat he often thought of how he longed to hear a tongue and interpretation. You see, Jimmy was from a Spirit filled church back home in America where they had constant manifestations of these things. The other gifts of the Holy Spirit were in operation there, too. When is the last time you witnessed a tongue and interpretation in a meeting? When is the last time you witnessed a genuine healing or deliverance in a meeting or in the marketplace? FULL STORY

Tenth of Wild Bee Species Risk Extinction in EuropePosted: 20 Mar 2015 11:59 AM PDT

Tenth of Wild Bee Species Risk Extinction in EuropeAccording to a new report by Discovery News the Bee population in Europe may be in deep trouble! In Fact according to the report, Nearly 10 percent of some 2,000 species of European wild bees are threatened with extinction, according to a study published Thursday. The study released by the European Commission, the EU executive arm, is the first on the European wild bee population, less known than the domestic variety but just as important to pollination of crops. “The report reveals that 9.2 percent of European wild bee species are threatened with extinction, while 5.2 percent are considered likely to be threatened in the near future,” the commission said.  The assessment was published as part of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) European Red List of Bees and the Status and Trends of European Pollinators (STEP) project. Its authors said the study provided the “best understanding” so far on the 1,965 species surveyed but added that knowledge was incomplete because of an “alarming lack of expertise and resources.” The IUCN said the study, which was co-funded by the European Commission,  demonstrates the urgency in investing in research to halt the decline of wild bees which, it added, play “an essential role in pollinating crops.” FULL REPORT

Friday’s Solar Eclipse Linked to Fateful 1492 Blood MoonPosted: 20 Mar 2015 11:47 AM PDT

Friday's Solar Eclipse Linked to Fateful 1492 Blood MoonThe significance of this Friday’s Solar Eclipse is resounding in many different ways and according to a report This Friday’s exceedingly rare solar eclipse has an astronomical relationship to the fateful 1492 Blood Moon, according to Root Source, in their second major revelation in recent days. “Friday’s total solar eclipse is a direct descendant of an earlier eclipse that touched land in the New World during the middle of the 1492 Alhambra decree that ordered the expulsion of the Jews from Spain,” Root Source co-founder Bob O’Dell told Breaking Israel News. Eclipses run in families, referred to by NASA as the saros cycle, which repeat every 18 years and 11 days. Root Source traced this Friday’s unusual eclipse directly to an eclipse that took place in April 1492. There has been a growing interest recently in the Blood Moons, which have been occurring uninterruptedly on the Jewish holidays of Passover and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) of 2014 and 2015. The next total lunar eclipse, known as a Blood Moon, will take place on April 4, 2015, the first night of Passover. A series of four uninterrupted Blood Moons, known as a tetrad, that fall on Jewish festivals have only occurred in 1967, 1949 and 1493, all years of major significance in Jewish history. Prominent Christian leaders such as Pastors John Hagee and Mark Biltz have pointed to a pattern and identified possible apocalyptic ramifications for the 2014-2015 Blood Moons. FULL REPORT

Solar eclipse viewed in Israel for last time until 2020Posted: 20 Mar 2015 11:35 AM PDT

Solar eclipse viewed in Israel for last time until 2020Israel just experienced a stunning celestial event that won’t be seen from that region again until 2020! According to reports Israeli Astronomy enthusiasts turned their (protected) eyes to the sky late Friday morning, to view a partial solar eclipse – the last solar eclipse expected to be visible in Israel for the next five years. The peak of the eclipse in Israel will occurred 11:56 a.m., when the moon hid about six percent of the sun, according to the Israeli Astronomical Association, a Givatayim-based nonprofit organization whose goal is to deepen awareness for astronomy among members of the public. Together with the Israel Space Agency of the Science, Technology and Space Ministry, the association hosted six official observation events on Friday under the framework of a joint project called “Looking Up.” “The truth is that this is such a small eclipse,” said Dr. Igal Pat-El, chairman of the Israeli Astronomical Association, in a lecture posted on YouTube about the eclipse four days ago. “This is the last eclipse that will be in Israel until the year 2020.” FULL REPORT

World could face water 40 per cent shortfall in just 15 yearsPosted: 20 Mar 2015 10:25 AM PDT

World could face water 40 per cent shortfall in just 15 yearsCould the World be facing a Water shortage in the next fifteen years? Well according to a recent report by the Independent, The UN has urged world leaders to rethink water policies or face a 40 per cent shortfall in just 15 years. A combination of low underwater reserves and erratic rainfall patterns caused by climate change, has brought the problem to the fore according to a report which stresses how water resources are essential to achieving global sustainability. These factors are compounded by the fact that the world’s population is growing, and expected to reach 9 billion in 2050. This means more groundwater will be needed for farming, industry and personal consumption. The UN’s annual World Water Development report predicts that as reserves dwindle, global water demand will increase 55 per cent by 2050. If current usage does not change, the world will have only 60% of the water it needs in 2030, it said. If this became a reality, the consequences would be catastrophic. Crops could fail, ecosystems could break down, industries could collapse, disease and poverty could worsen, and violent conflicts over access to water could become more frequent. “Unless the balance between demand and finite supplies is restored, the world will face an increasingly severe global water deficit,” the document released two days before World Water Day reads. Obama, The Muslim Brotherhood And The Betrayal Of America (VIDEO)

The Betrayal Papers Part III: The Extensive Muslim Brotherhood Network in America, from Common Core, to Amnesty, to Purging the U.S. Military of Christians

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3 (KJV)

What do Common Core, “comprehensive” immigration reform, and IRS targeting of conservatives groups have in common? They are just a few of many examples of Muslim Brotherhood-connected policy initiatives affecting the lives of Americans every day. Under Obama, many new domestic policies, as well as many scandals, can be traced back to, in varying degrees, the Muslim Brotherhood.

To understand why America no longer feels like America – why it seems that the government has its favorites and while others are targeted and even persecuted – it is important to understand two strong influences on the Muslim Brotherhood. The first is historical: the Nazi Party of Hitler’s Germany. The second is more contemporary: the strategy developed by Al Qaeda’s strategic mastermind, Abu Musab al-Suri.

The connection between Common Core and the international terror group, the Muslim Brotherhood, is linked to, once again, Qatar. The Connect All Schools initiative is a program to promote “One World Education.” It is aligned to Common Core State Standards, and is funded by the Qatar Foundation International (QFI). The director of QFI’s Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics is Tariq Ramadan, grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder, Hassan al-Banna.

According to WND, in 2011, QFI “partnered with the Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to facilitate matchmaking between classrooms in the U.S. and international schools through … the “Connect All Schools” project.” QFI states on its website that the initiative was founded in response to Obama’s infamous 2009 Cairo speech, during which the Muslim Brotherhood was seated in the front row.

Participation of the Qatar Foundation International puts in proper context the ever more prevalent cases of Sharia (i.e. Islamic law) incursions into American schools, such as: girls forced to cover up like devout Muslims on school sponsored trips to mosques; Islamic vocabulary lessons in high school; the teaching of Islamic culture; teaching the five pillars of Islam and “A call to jihad;” and Qatar investing $5 million to teach Arabic in schools.

Finally, any treatment of Common Core would not be complete without mentioning the involvement of Obama’s mentor, domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Ayers received $49.2 million from Vartan Gregorian, a board member of the Qatar Foundation who is also involved with Obama’s White House Fellowships Commission. Gregorian is an integral part of “Connect All Schools.”

The White House is taking gradual steps towards eliminating the very concept of American citizenship. During a recent White House conference call explicitly stated that new immigrants would not need to assimilate into American society. Rather, they should establish their own ethnic communities within the United States, creating “societies within societies,” quite similar to Gaza and the no-go zones expanding throughout Europe.

Obama also recently announced his plan to bring millions of Syrian “refugees” to America. And a recent editorial revealed that from 2010 to 2013 “the Obama Administration imported almost 300,000 immigrants from Muslim nations — more immigrants than the U.S. let in from Central America and Mexico combined over that period.” Given the paucity of background and security checks, as well as those countries’ high number of terrorist acts, it is any surprise that the FBI now admits that ISIS is active in all 50 of our United States?

The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), another Muslim Brotherhood front organization operating in the United States, conveniently issued a policy paper in September 2013 calling for “comprehensive immigration reform.” To help with this, in January 2105, Obama appointed Fatima Noor, a veiled Muslim woman, to the position of “Special Assistant in the Office of the Director for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Department of Homeland Security.” Other than her religion, her credentials appear to be non-existent.

Over the past several years, the U.S. military has been purged of hundreds of high-ranking officers. Many of these dedicated life-long military leaders were dismissed for trivial “offenses.” Simultaneously, Christianity, Christians, and Bible are being purged from the U.S. military. Christian chaplains are being reprimanded for sharing their faith. Indeed, the Pentagon has gone so far as to state that sharing the Gospel could result in court marshals for anyone in the military. The Family Research Council has listed recent actions taken against Christians in the military and released a video detailing the “Clear and Present Danger” Christians in the military face.

Anti-Police Protests: In conjunction with the militarization of DHS, the Obama Administration and Eric Holder’s “Justice” Department have targeted state and local law enforcement. Their anti-police agenda culminated last summer with orchestrated riots in Ferguson, Missouri and violent protests in New York City. Among the most prominent groups involved in these protests was ANSWER, a pro-Palestinian group that had on its original steering committee the Muslim Students Association.

And—the NYC cop killer Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley had publicly stated on his Facebook page that he was a former Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) (Muslim Brotherhood) employee. At the time of the killing, ISNA’s president was Mohamed Magid, an advisor to Obama, DHS, and the National Security Council.

Taken alone, none of these events would be of much concern in a country of more than 300 million people. Even the general feeling of depression and oppression by government could be overlooked as a result of global economic conditions, seen as “outside the control” of even the President of the United States.

But when seen together through the lens of the Muslim Brotherhood’s carefully constructed plan it becomes quite clear that America is being destroyed from within. Attacks on cops, illegal immigration policies, IRS persecution of American citizens, the infiltration and propaganda being taught to children through Common Core school curricula all originate from the genesis of the Muslim Brotherhood.

American citizens have an opportunity and dire responsibility to reverse this course by demanding the Constitution be enforced, terrorists be deported, and that the protection of citizens come first before any and all policies.

The Betrayal Papers is a collaborative effort by the Coalition of Concerned Citizens, which includes: Andrea Shea King, Dr. Ashraf Ramelah, Benjamin Smith, Bethany Blankley, Brent Parrish, Charles Ortel, Chris Nethery, Denise Simon, Dick Manasseri, Gary Kubiak, Gates of Vienna, IQ al Rassooli, Jeff Bayard, Leslie Burt, Marcus Kohan, Mary Fanning, General Paul E. Facebook Says Page Called ‘Death To Israel’ Does Not Violate Their Community Standards

What does Facebook consider to be hate speech?

“And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” Genesis 12:3 (KJV)

According to Mark Zuckerberg, this is what constitutes “hate speech” on Facebook:

“Content that attacks people based on their actual or perceived race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or disease is not allowed. We do, however, allow clear attempts at humor or satire that might otherwise be considered a possible threat or attack. This includes content that many people may find to be in bad taste (ex: jokes, stand-up comedy, popular song lyrics, etc.).” [1] – Facebook

Here is how they are responding to requests to take down the Death to Israel page:

We reviewed your report of Death to Israel مرگ بر اسرائیل

Facebook will not allow anti-Muslim groups or pages. They consider that hate speech. So, why are they refusing to take down this Death to Israel group?

I can think of only three possibilities:

1. Mark Zuckerberg is a self hating Jew and therefore hates Israel.
2. They are not worried about being beheaded, because the Jewish people don’t do that.
3. They feel empowered by Obama’s hatred of Israel

Maybe if enough of us complain, they might get the message?

Why I am a Climate Change Skeptic

I am skeptical humans are the main cause of climate change and that it will be catastrophic in the near future. There is no scientific proof of this hypothesis, yet we are told “the debate is over” and “the science is settled.”

My skepticism begins with the believers’ certainty they can predict the global climate with a computer model. The entire basis for the doomsday climate change scenario is the hypothesis increased atmospheric carbon dioxide due to fossil fuel emissions will heat the Earth to unlivable temperatures.

A Complete Timeline of Obama’s Anti-Israel Hatred

February 2008: Obama says while campaigning, ‘There is a strain within the pro-Israel community that says unless you adopt an unwavering pro-Likud approach to Israel that you’re anti-Israel.” At the time, as Dan Senor pointed out in The Wall Street Journal, Israel was run by the Kadima government run by Ehud Olmert, Tzipi Livni, and Shimon Peres, and was attempting desperately to bring the Palestinians to the table. Instead, the Palestinians launch war, as always.

June 2008: Obama tells the American Israel Public Affairs Conference that Jerusalem ought to remain undivided, attempting to woo Jewish votes. He then walks that back the next day, saying only that the capital shouldn’t be divided by barbed wire.

The Big Lie Evangelicals Tell Christian Parents

Proverbs 22:6 is a parenting scripture. It’s not a scripture about salvation. The scripture is simply saying that through consistent discipline you can train your children to behave. Herein lies the problem. Salvation does not come through obeying the rules. It comes by grace through faith. If your good works cannot save you, then your good parenting cannot save your kids. You can be the best parent in the world and make all the right choices, but you cannot save your child from hell. Only Christ can do that.

Preaching the Catechism(?)

I realize this has been and is being debated, but I believe that the Scripture should be preached and the catechism used only to explain and summarize Scripture’s truths. In other words, I appreciate and have “done” catechetical preaching (and will do it again), but I don’t believe a minister should preach from and exegete the words of the catechism. Jacobus Koelman (in 1678) said it nicely while quoting William Ames and Gisbertus Voetius:

Sanctification: Cooperating with God

by Bill Muehlenberg

Let me set things straight at the outset: in terms of our initial regeneration, this is a work purely done by God. We do not contrite to it. There is no synergism here. It is by grace through faith alone. But justification of course is only the first step. It is just the beginning.

From then on there is the incredible process of sanctification. And that is indeed a synergistic enterprise. God sanctifies, but we cooperate with him in the sanctification process. It is a combined effort. Those who say that we are to just ‘let go and let God” are amiss here.

But those who say ‘God helps those who help themselves’ are also amiss. It is not all of God alone. It is not all of ourselves alone. It is a team effort. This is expressed so very often in Scripture in so many ways.

Overcoming Pornography: Cultivating Our Inner Lives

Today’s blog is the final post in a three part series on overcoming pornography (see part one and two). In this post, I’d like to talk about the importance of cultivating our inner lives.

The Evidence for Christianity Doesn’t “Tell” Us Anything

I’m usually careful to avoid making overly aggressive claims when sharing the evidence for Christianity. I seldom tell anyone I can “prove” Christianity is true. Instead, I typically say something like, “I’d be happy to share the evidence I found compelling.” In my experience, …

W4YW: Of Millenials, Building Campaigns, & Children of Gay Marriage

Your weekly installment of things we’ve been reading (and watching) around the web.

Infographic of the Week

All the “One Another” Commands in the New Testament, Jeffrey Kranz. We’re still working hard to make sure “greet one another with a holy kiss” makes a comeback at the Summit. But it’s an uphill battle.

Articles of the Week

Top Ten Dumbest Things to Say During a Building Campaign, Thom Rainer. Honorable mention for #11: “What we really care about around here is building monuments, not reaching people.” Okay, these aren’t that dumb. Most pastors make statements like the ones Rainer points at for pretty good reasons. But it takes more than “good reasons” to make a wise decision.

An Open Letter to the Gay Community, Heather Barwick. “I still feel like gay people are my people. I’ve learned so much from you. You taught me how to be brave, especially when it is hard. You taught me empathy. You taught me how to listen. And how to dance. You taught me not be afraid of things that are different. And you taught me how to stand up for myself, even if that means I stand alone. I’m writing to you because I’m letting myself out of the closet: I don’t support gay marriage. But it might not be for the reasons that you think.”

How to Get Things Done: Four Tips From a White House Staffer, Eric Barker. It’s easy to get inundated with productivity lists, so we try to limit those here. But this one stuck out, because it’s all about how to get things done on a team. A major frustration of other productivity articles is that they basically counsel you on how to devote uninterrupted time to your work (and to delegate, delegate, delegate). This is much needed advice at times, but how do you get things done when you don’t have those luxuries? James Waters, White House staffer, helps us out.

Why Millenials Aren’t Growing Up, Chris Martin. Those of us born between 1980 and 2000—what is increasingly called the “millennial” generation—get dumped on quite a bit these days. Some of that is unwarranted, a brand of nostalgia about “the good old days” mixed with a touch of bitterness. But as Martin points out, many critiques hit home. And he’s figured out why: we have no idea what it means to “grow up.” (Also, note the special @FakeJDGreear cameo about halfway through. It’s quite a zinger.)

Aaron Earls:

Does this mean you and I are bad parents because we have a job outside of the home? Is quitting your job and never leaving your family the standard of being a good father or mother?

I don’t think it is. In fact, I think this line of thinking can actually be harmful to your child.

Here are five ways to be a good parent without quitting your day job.

The PCUSA’s long and boring shuffle out of Christianity

David French:

The drift from biblical orthodoxy to spiritualized leftism has profound real-world consequences. The church isn’t just shuffling out of Christianity, it’s shuffling out of existence. The church has lost 37 percent of its members since 1992, and the trend is accelerating. According to Christianity Today, “in 2013, membership declined by 5 percent as 148 congregations left for other denominations — the largest annual membership loss in nearly 50 years.”

The Happiest People in the World

John Knight:

The statistics are remarkable.

  • 99% of those surveyed are happy with their lives.
  • 97% answered yes to the question, “Do you like who you are?”
  • 99% agreed with the statement, “Do you love your family?”

Do you know of any group of people, of any economic status, educational level, age, ethnicity, or geographic region, who approach those percentages? Who are these happy people?

People living with Down syndrome.

Reformation Theology Blog: The Granting of Repentance Through The Use Of Means

2 Tim 2:24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

Part 1: There is war happening for your soul. On one side, Satan is scheming to enslave you to sin and blind you to the beauty of God. But God, by his power, is able to lead you to faith, repentance, and freedom. How is the war won? Dr. John Piper looks at several key verses in this lab.

2 Timothy 2-24–26, Part 1 // God May Grant Repentance from Desiring God on Vimeo.

Part 2: God makes the objects of the miracle of repentance agents of the miracle of repentance. In Part 1 of this two-part series, John Piper established that it is God who decisively brings repentance for any sinner. Now, he asks what role, if any, we have in bringing about that repentance for others.

2 Timothy 2:24–26, Part 2 // God’s Agents of Repentance from Desiring God on Vimeo.

Southern Seminary: Eight signs of fearful leadership

Over the past few years, I’ve heard the phrase “courageous leadership” used to describe the trait of those leaders who are making a difference today. Unfortunately, we also know many who are in leadership positions where that courage is not apparent. Indeed, they demonstrate leadership that is fearful.

These leaders are harmful to organizations because they have unique ways to hinder others from making vital contributions. They can appear busy, but most often their work is busyness.

All of us are subject to moments of fear in our various leadership roles. Can we overcome those moments? Better yet, are there signs or indicators to serve as cautions? I believe there are at least eight such tendencies in fearful leaders. And if we are manifesting any of these, we need an immediate behavioral change.

How secular leftists misuse science to normalize sexual anarchy

Jay Richards tweeted this article Touchstone magazine.

Here’s part of it:

Here is how the Mead Method works. It has four easily memorized steps. You begin by proving that some behavior is natural, in the sense of being enjoyed by primitive people, who are assumed to be far closer to the basic human realities than we are. As the Chronicle’s writer put it:

Less than 50 years ago, Canela women, who live in Amazonian Brazil, enjoyed the delights of as many as 40 men one after another in festive rituals. When it was time to have a child, they’d select their favorite dozen or so lovers to help their husband with the all-important task. Even today, when the dalliances of married Bar ladies in Colombia and Venezuela result in a child, they proudly announce the long list of probable fathers.

Then you find some way to show that…

Wealth, Materialism, and Idolatry

The Reformed Reader

Product Details (This is a repost from October, 2009)
Herbert Schlossberg’s Idols for Destruction is a truly deep and thought-provoking read.  Although it was written around 30 years ago, the message is still relevant.  Schlossberg takes the reader through the main things in American culture that serve as people’s idols.  At first I thought it was going to talk about how Christians end up making idols out of certain things in our culture, but the book is broader than that.  He simply lines up the main things American’s “bow down to” and gives proof, citation, and critique.  The chapters include idols of history, humanity, Mammon, nature, power, and religion.  He ends with a few “application” chapters.  Below is a part from his last chapter, a constructive account of how Christian pilgrims should live in and interact with this idolatrous culture, specifically on the topic of materialism and wealth.

“Materialism, coupled with the productivity…

What is it like to be a donor-conceived child?

Marriage and family Marriage and family

Yesterday, I wrote about children who are raised by same-sex parents. Today I want to link to an article written by two donor-conceived children.

The thing about donor-conceived children is this – the child’s natural father and/or mother’s absence has been bought and paid for by the adopting couple. One or both of the people who conceived the child is being paid by the adopter to go away.

From the article:

[M]y mother informed me of my true parentage when I was 14, and it was, as they say, irrevocable. My mother’s then-husband had waited until they divorced to permit her to tell me, and the revelation of his not being my biological father clarified an overwhelming amount of issues between us. For a multitude of reasons—his background, my personality and beliefs, our lack of biological connection—the cards were stacked against our having a conventional…

40 Days to the Cross: Reflections from Great Thinkers (Week Four: Saturday)

Day 28: If Jesus was not who he claimed to be, by what power did he perform miracles?

Confession: Psalm 62:1–2

Only for God my soul waits in silence.

From him is my salvation.

Only he is my rock and my salvation,

my high stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

Reading: Mark 14:12–21

And on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare, so that you can eat the Passover?” And he sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him, and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?” ’ And he will show you a large upstairs room furnished and ready, and prepare for us there.” And the disciples went out and came into the city and found everything just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

And when it was evening, he arrived with the twelve. And while they were reclining at table and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, that one of you who is eating with me will betray me.” They began to be distressed and to say to him one by one, “Surely not I?” But he said to them, “It is one of the twelve—the one who is dipping bread into the bowl with me. For the Son of Man is going just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for him if that man had not been born.”

Ask Him why He chose Judas, a traitor? Why He entrusted to him the bag when He knew that he was a thief? Shall I tell you the reason? God judges the present, not the future. He does not make use of His foreknowledge to condemn a man though He knows that he will hereafter displease Him; but such is His goodness and unspeakable mercy that He chooses a man who, He perceives, will meanwhile be good, and who, He knows, will turn out badly, thus giving him the opportunity of being converted and of repenting.

This is the apostle’s meaning when he says, “Or do you despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not realize that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. For he will repay according to each one’s deeds” (Rom 2:4–6 nrsv).

Against the Pelagians

Spend time reflecting on God’s extravagant kindness to you. Write down the ways He has been kind—especially through the work of Jesus. Pray that you would be filled with thankfulness to Him.[1]
