11 Examples Of How Evil Is Growing In America Like A Cancerous Tumor

Monster - Public DomainHave you heard of “arterial tapping”, “flakka” or “cyberextortion”?  In America today, just about every conceivable type of evil that you could possibly name is growing, and we are even inventing new kinds of evil that the world has never seen before.  It is very easy for us to point to the looting and violence in Baltimoreand call that evil, but there is far more to the social decay of America than just that.  The foundations of our society are rotting and decaying in thousands of different ways, and our biggest problem as a nation is what is found inside our own hearts.  We have rejected the values and principles that were handed down to us by previous generations of Americans because we believed that we knew better than they did.  But now look at us.  Our country is falling apart all around us, and we only have ourselves to blame.  The following are 11 examples of how evil is growing in America like a cancerous tumor… (Read More…)

It’s Official: Police Were Ordered To Stand Down And Let The Baltimore Riots Rage Out Of Control

Baltimore Riot Police - Public DomainWe now have official confirmation that the rioting in Baltimore on Monday was purposely allowed to spiral out of control.  Up until now, there had been some unconfirmed reports that police in Baltimore had been ordered to “stand down” during the riots, but nobody had been willing to come forward and go on the record.  Now that has all changed.  Michael Lewis is the Sheriff of Wicomico County, Maryland and what he has to say is absolutely jaw dropping.  When he saw what was happening in Baltimore, he gathered up some of his fellow officers and drove down to the city to help.  But when he got there, he says that all of the police were being ordered not to take any action and to let the rioters destroy property.  Lewis made this astounding claim during a discussion on a Baltimore radio station… (Read More….)

Freddie Gray Investigation Handed Over to Prosecutors

Baltimore city officials are mum after the police department handed its investigation into the death of Freddie Gray over to state prosecutors Thursday, a day before they said the investigation would be completed. The public still doesn’t know the details surrounding the 25-year-old’s death. Maryland State Attorney Marilyn Mosby said, “While we have and will continue to leverage the information received by the department, we are not relying solely on their findings but rather the facts that we have gathered and verified. We ask for the public to remain patient and peaceful and to trust the process of the justice system.” Prosecutors will decide whether or not to bring charges against the six police officers who are currently suspended from the Baltimore police force.

Meanwhile, the likes of Al Sharpton are in Baltimore, and they will not be satisfied if the prosecutors’ decision doesn’t go their way. Daniel Henninger writes in The Wall Street Journal, “When Al Sharpton popularized the chant, ‘No justice, no peace,’ it was unmistakably clear that ‘no peace’ was an implicit threat of civil unrest. Not civil disobedience, as practiced by Martin Luther King Jr. Civil unrest.” Now is the time for conservatives to focus on ways to rebuild Baltimore to counter Sharpton’s race baiting and give residents better paths to prosperity. In Campaign, Hillary Clinton Distances Herself From Bill

On April 29, Hillary Clinton stood before an audience at Columbia University and criticized America’s criminal justice system, the system her husband helped create in 1994 with the passage of his Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. “We have allowed our criminal justice system to get out of balance,” Ms. Clinton said. “And these recent tragedies [in Baltimore and Ferguson] should galvanize us to come together as a nation to find our balance again.” This is not the only instance where Hillary has positioned herself directly opposing the legislation and policies that her husband’s administration instituted some 20 years before. Bill signed the Defense of Marriage Act into law; Hillary now says same-sex marriage is a constitutional right. Bill’s administration repealed the Glass-Steagall Act; Hillary wants it restored. The Washington Free Beacon reports that this distancing extends all the way to edits of Hillary’s official campaign bio. In 2008, her biography said “she followed her heart and a man named Bill Clinton to Arkansas” instead of pursuing a career at a big law firm. Eight years later, Clinton’s bio now says she skipped the big-law career path because she wanted to fight for children and families at the Children’s Defense Fund. With all the revisions, it seems Hillary only kept the name “Clinton” for the name recognition. More…

Updated Satellite Data Puts a Chill on Global Warming

More bad news for climate scaremongers. Remote Sensing Systems recordings, which more accurately reflect global temperatures, have perplexed many scientists ever since they revealed a global warming hiatus that’s now lasted for more than 18 years. In response, alarmists have trashed RSS findings in favor of NOAA’s complicated and flawed method. Three University of Alabama climatologists, Roy Spencer, John Christy and William Braswell, just concluded additional research on UAH Version 6, an alternative system used to study global temperatures. Not only did the new research cast further doubt on the claims of climate alarmists, but the adjustments revealed similar results to that of RSS. You can read more about why revisions are necessary and, notably, how these revisions are different than NOAA’s alleged tampering with historical data. To summarize, UAH’s newest finding is another inconvenient truth for envirofascists — which is exactly why they’ll ignore it.

Sen. Corker’s Stand for a Better GOP Budget

By Lewis Morris

2015-05-01-a50ed0a4_large.jpg
Sen. Bob Corker

Republicans’ first attempt to present a fiscally responsible budget after assuming control of Capitol Hill ran into some snags this week. A budget resolution hashed out between House and Senate negotiators was expected to see an easy passage before Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) stalled the process by refusing to sign on to the final proposal.

Corker, recently listed as one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, where he was described as the “pragmatist of Congress,” is known for having a strong grasp of economics after spending many successful years in the private sector. He withdrew his support of the budget because he saw the proposal as riddled with budget gimmicks.

The resolution that Republicans crafted relies on a budget tool that gives lawmakers flexibility in dealing with spending curbs. This budgetary shell game is cleverly known as CHIMPS ⎯ Changes in Mandatory Programs — and it allows for boosting spending in some areas by offsetting spending in mandatory programs. The trouble with CHIMPS is that those spending cuts in mandatory programs are rarely, if ever, honored, basically amounting to an overall increase in spending.

“CHIMPS is a budget gimmick that is $190 billion in extra spending over a 10 year period,” Corker told reporters Tuesday. “And it’s something our caucus all has been for eliminating.”

Republicans gained control of both chambers of Congress in part because of their promise of fiscal responsibility after a decade of budgetary chaos thanks to spendthrift Democrats. Under the leadership of heavyweight curmudgeon Harry Reid, the Senate flat out refused to craft budgets, as required by law, opting instead to hide the true nature of impending fiscal doom through a series of continuing resolutions.

The GOP wants to bring an end to this craziness by passing budgets that come into balance in ten years. But thanks to CHIMPS, military spending will increase in the coming fiscal year without any significant cuts to entitlements.

Corker’s refusal to sign on to the budget proposal made sense for fiscal hawks. The GOP’s inability to curb spending its first time out as the majority party on Capitol Hill does not bode well for the future of its grand plan to bring fiscal sanity to Washington. So-called moderate Republicans who are just as drunk on spending as Democrats gleefully rely on CHIMPS and other budget tricks to circumvent the sequestration caps put in place four years ago. Corker’s opposition to the status quo offered a welcome change to the lip service being paid on spending.

But all is not what it seems in Washington. Wednesday, Corker reversed himself and signed on to the House-Senate budget proposal. “There is no question this budget is far from perfect,” Corker said, “But it is some progress since it has been a long time since Congress has completed this basic part of governing.”

With Corker allowing the budget to proceed, the House passed the proposal 226-197 Thursday, sticking close to their self-imposed deadline to move things forward before leaving town for a brief recess. Fourteen Republicans joined all the Democrats in opposition. The Senate will vote on the proposal in a few days.

Corker’s change of attitude could be considered a flip-flop since there were no fundamental changes made to the resolution to get him on board. But by making his initial stand, he brought to light some of the fundamental problems that plague the budget process in Washington.

To say that federal spending is out of control may be the mother of all understatements. The national debt is over $18 trillion, close to $10 trillion of which has been amassed since Barack Obama took office. Budget deficits, which averaged around $1 trillion a year for his first term, are still in the $500 billion range. Obama is proposing a 7% across-the-board spending increase for the next fiscal year, and he has vowed to veto any Republican budget that adheres to the sequestration cuts that he suggested then later blamed on Republicans.

Democrats have remained resolutely committed to spending without limits while ignoring the inevitable consequences of the government’s careless fiscal strategy, or lack thereof. Senate Democrats are expected to unanimously oppose the budget like their colleagues in the House.

The budget process is complicated and filled with numerous moving parts. It’s no wonder that it puts people’s brains to sleep. Unfortunately, it’s had the same effect on those elected to actually negotiate it.

Many citizens know the dangers of not cutting back on spending, yet when it comes time for the government to actually do so people balk at their favorite programs being cut because so many are now on the government dole. This was by liberal design. Over the course of many years, Democrats have steadily convinced the public that people need the government to run all these services and provide cradle-to-grave entitlements. No one stopped to consider just how all these programs would be paid for.

That is why Corker’s stand against the CHIMPS budget gimmick, brief though it was, is so important. It highlights the fantasy world in which Congressional lawmakers live, and it reminds us all that this world must give way to reality if America wants to avoid political and economic disaster.

BEST OF RIGHT OPINION

OPINION IN BRIEF

David Harsanyi: “After a night of violence and looting in Baltimore, Barack Obama spoke to the press and said that ‘we, as a country, have to do some soul-searching’ — by which he meant ‘they,’ as in conservatives, need to get on board. … Where does the blame for the civil unrest lie? In plenty of places. Some of those places have absolutely nothing to do with politics and can’t be fixed by any Washington agenda — imagined or otherwise. The tribulations plaguing cities such as Baltimore are complex, having festered for years. But does that excuse the bungling of Democratic Party governance? Does it change the fact that massive amounts of spending have done little in the war on poverty? And if Democrats claim that they are uniquely sympathetic toward the poor and weak, that welfare programs can never be reformed, only expanded, and that perpetually pumping ‘investments’ into cities is the only way to alleviate the hardship faced by citizens, it’s more than fair to gauge the effectiveness — not to mention the competence — of those allocating and overseeing those policies. Because Republicans may be horrible, but they aren’t running Baltimore.”

SHORT CUTS

Insight: “A free man is as jealous of his responsibilities as he is of his liberties.” —Historian Cyril James (1901-1989)

Non Compos Mentis: “We can’t continue to frame law enforcement and the police forces in America as simply a bunch of good natured people and there happen to be a few bad apples among them. That’s not the right analysis. … [I]t’s something about the job itself and the structure of law enforcement in America itself that becomes an occupying force and — they’re an occupying force in the hood.” —Morehouse College professor Marc Lamont Hill

Demo-gogues: “Excessive police force and staggering unemployment work together because what we’ve done in the United States is that we’ve said that the affluent part of our society is going to demand more tax breaks, more wealth, more privilege, leaving less for the less fortunate. The way we keep the less fortunate in control is policing and prisons — that’s the unfortunate formula that we’ve constructed. … Our society is going to have to decide if are we going to just pay the police and the prisons to keep the poor under control or we can invest and include everyone in this economy. We are connected here; we are all Americans; we’ve got to say that, look, you can make good money, but do you have to make so much that whole neighborhoods have nothing, not even any hope?” —Rep. Keith Ellison on what precipitated the Baltimore riots

Village Idiots: “Here’s my demand: I want every African-American currently incarcerated for drug ‘crimes’ or nonviolent offenses released from prison today. And the rest who [are] imprisoned — I don’t believe 50% of them did what they’re accused of. Lies. Greed. A modern day slave system…. Next demand: Disarm the police. We have a [quarter] billion 2nd amendment guns in our homes [for] protection. We’ll survive til the right cops [are] hired.” —filmmaker Michael Moore

Dezinformatsia: “Just be careful, because you know how [the police] are. If you seem like you’re being provocative towards them, you know how things can go.” —CNN’s Chris Cuomo to a Baltimore demonstrator

And last… “It’s really hard to take seriously any criticism of capitalism that’s instantly shared worldwide through the internet. … What did people do with opinions before the internet?” —Frank Fleming

The Shocking Real Reason Obama Is Pushing So Hard For Legalized Same-Sex Marriage

Posted: 01 May 2015 07:16 AM PDT

WELL, WE KNEW IT, BUT WE NEVER THOUGHT THAT OBAMA’S SIDE WOULD BLATANTLY ADMIT IT. SAME SEX MARRIAGE IS NOT SO MUCH ABOUT EQUALITY FOR HOMOSEXUALS— IT IS ABOUT SILENCING DISSENTERS. IT’S ALL CALCULATED.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20 (KJV)

This is what the courts will use to ultimately shut us down and incarcerate us. They are using the Christian bakeries and other businesses to show that we are not being “tolerant” as they would have us be. But they knew what our reaction would be. They counted on it. “The biggest news from Tuesday’s Supreme Court arguments isn’t news at all to conservatives: Same-sex “marriage” is a threat to religious freedom. For once, that revelation didn’t come from one of the lawyers on our side but from the Obama administration’s own attorney.

In a rare moment of candor, Solicitor General Donald Verrilli sent a clear signal on where this debate is headed, and it isn’t to the marriage altar. Is it really a stretch, given the IRS’s history of harassment and discrimination against conservatives, to think that it wouldn’t show a “smidgeon” of prejudice? This ruling would give the political operatives at one of the country’s most powerful agencies even more ammunition to punish opposition. Resistance — even principled, seemingly protected resistance — wouldn’t be tolerated. The IRS, which has been weaponized under this administration, will stop at nothing, including stripping tax exemptions, to force acceptance. Recognizing the damage his admission could do, Verrilli tried to soften the blow by suggesting that “different states could strike different balances.” But if liberals won’t accept the long-held right of the states to regulate marriage, what makes anyone think they would accept it here? Besides, Justice Antonin Scalia fired back, “If you let the states do it, you can make an exception…

You can’t do that once it is a constitutional proscription.” Carried to its logical conclusion, the government would be in a position of punishing any non-sanctioned views. This is about controlling beliefs and actions the government doesn’t agree with — which is not only a direct attack on our First Amendment freedoms, but an attack on what it means to be an American. This is what the Left has been searching for: a selective, surgical removal of the conservative voice. MORE

Iran’s claim that Israel has 400 nuclear weapons

Posted: 01 May 2015 07:05 AM PDT

In the debate over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the unacknowledged nuclear stockpile of Israel often comes up. In the 1950s and 1960s, Israel secretly acquired the technology and material to build nuclear weapons, frequently misleading the U.S. government about its intentions. (France was Israel’s partner in the building of the Dimona reactor in the Negev desert, while South Africa is believed to have assisted Israel in conducting at least one nuclear test in the 1970s.) Zarif quickly noted that Israel (unlike Iran) is not a member of the NPT, but added: “Those who provided them with the technology were members of the NPT and violated the NPT to provide them with the technology, and we know who they were. And now they are the proponents of nonproliferation.” (Actually, France’s cooperation with Israel ended in 1966, before the NPT went into effect in 1970.)

Zarif’s estimate of Israel’s stockpile seemed rather large. Does Israel really have 400 nuclear weapons? For a secret and unacknowledged program, the history of Israel’s quest for nuclear weapons is relatively well-documented. Our colleague Walter Pincus recently recounted how Israel misled the Kennedy and Johnson administrations about the facility in the Negev, describing it at one point as “a textile plant” and later as “a metallurgical research installation.”Requested inspections by U.S. experts were cursory and often postponed — Israel refused to accept visits from the International Atomic Energy Agency – and later it was learned that the Israelis had built fake walls around the elevators that led to an underground reprocessing plant, according to a 2014 account in The Guardian newspaper. Mount Everest Shrank As Nepal Quake Lifted Kathmandu

Posted: 01 May 2015 06:59 AM PDT

The first good view of the aftermath of Nepal’s deadly earthquake from a satellite reveals that a broad swath of ground near Kathmandu lifted vertically, by about 3 feet (1 meter), which could explain why damage in the city was so severe. The data also indicate the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, got a wee bit shorter. The new information comes from Europe’s Sentinel-1A radar satellite. Scientists are racing to interpret the Sentinel data, which were made available today (April 29) just hours after the satellite passed over Nepal. The preliminary data can help guide relief efforts on the ground by identifying areas that were damaged or hit by landslides. Researchers detected the vertical shift in the ground by comparing before-and-after radar images from the satellite using a technique that produces an image called an interferogram. The resulting images have rainbow-colored areas that represent the movement of the ground between the times each radar image was taken. Each colorful fringe on the European Space Agency’s Nepal interferogram reflects about 1 inch (2.8 centimeters) of vertical movement. The results will be refined in the coming weeks, with as scientists further analysize the images and additional data from satellites become available.

According to the early analysis, a region 75 miles (120 kilometers) long by 30 miles (50 km) wide lifted upward by as much as 3 feet during the earthquake, said Tim Wright, a geophysicist at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. This uplift peaked only 10 miles (17 km) from Kathmandu, even though the city was relatively far from the earthquake’s epicenter. “That’s one of the reasons why Kathmandu has so much damage,” Wright told Live Science. The radar images reveal that some of the world’s tallest peaks — including Mount Everest — dropped by about 1 inch (2.5 cm), according to the nonprofit UNAVCO, a geoscience research consortium. That’s because the Earth’s crust relaxed in the areas north of the Kathmandu, after the earthquake released pent-up strain. Still, on the whole, the Himalayas continue to grow to stupendous heights, studies show. Some parts of the Himalayas are rising about 0.4 inches (1 cm) every year, due to the ongoing collision between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. MORE

11 Examples Of How Evil Is Growing In America Like A Cancerous Tumor

Posted: 01 May 2015 06:47 AM PDT

Have you heard of “arterial tapping”, “flakka” or “cyberextortion”? In America today, just about every conceivable type of evil that you could possibly name is growing, and we are even inventing new kinds of evil that the world has never seen before. It is very easy for us to point tothe looting and violence in Baltimore and call that evil, but there is far more to the social decay of America than just that.

The following are 11 examples of how evil is growing in America like a cancerous tumor…MORE

Utah city orders citizens to avoid drinking water after chemical contamination; what will you do in a water emergency?

Posted: 01 May 2015 06:35 AM PDT

Water emergencies appear to be occurring more often these days, leaving citizens scrambling to find safe drinking water when public supplies become contaminated. The latest case is still ongoing and concerns the public water supplies of Nibley City, Utah. On April 23, occupants of the small town were ordered not to drink the water after residents had noticed it had a foul odor and contacted the city. It was suspected that the contamination came from a recent diesel spill near a spring that supplies the city with its drinking water. Tests over the next few days confirmed the presence of diesel fuel in the water, and the system has been repeatedly flushed since then. However, as of April 27, the city remains under a “Do-not-Drink” order. Nibley City only has around 5,000 citizens, but local stores and supermarkets have already run out of bottled water. Residents have been forced to drive to nearby towns to obtain safe drinking water.

The water crisis in Nibley City seems to be nearly over, but it should serve as a reminder to all of us that we should never take our water resources for granted. Nibley City is one of three cities in the U.S. that has faced a water emergency within the past year, and it’s an example that proves it can happen in small communities as well as large urban areas, such as Toledo, Ohio, where water contamination affected 400,000 people in 2014. Water emergencies can be caused by a number of factors, including chemical spills, flooding from storms, drought conditions and breakages in water mains. Many of these causes are difficult – if not impossible – to predict or prevent, so it is important for everyone to have a backup supply of clean water in case such a scenario occurs. It’s also highly recommended that you have methods of purifying water available in the case of a long-term shortage. MORE

Almost one-fifth of Americans now take psychotropic drugs to cope with everyday life

Posted: 01 May 2015 06:31 AM PDT

The results of the annual Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index are in, and the methods by which many Americans now cope with their daily lives in this brave new world are sobering. Roughly one in five individuals living in the U.S., based on a random survey of people living in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, now take some type of mood-altering drug or medication daily just to make it through their miserable lives. After conducting interviews with at least 450 residents of each U.S. state between January and December 2014, researchers found that about 20% of folks, on average, use pharmaceutical pills or other substances on a day-to-day basis to feel happy and stable.

Each individual was asked, open-ended, whether or not he or she uses drugs that “affect your mood or help you relax,” and about one in five answered yes. The types of drugs people use to this end were not specified, and may include both “legal” medications like pharma pills, alcohol and nicotine, as well as various “illegal” substances. The worst state with the most drug use was West Virginia at 28.1%, followed closely behind by Rhode Island at 25.9%, Kentucky at 24.5% and Alabama at 24.2%. Meanwhile, the states with the lowest rates of daily mood-altering drug use were found to be Alaska at 13.5%, Wyoming at 15.5% and California at 15.8%. Most of the states with the lowest rates of drug use are located in the western U.S., in fact, while the states with the highest rates of drug use are in the southern U.S. MORE

California bottling water during worst drought in history

Posted: 01 May 2015 06:25 AM PDT

There is an old saying, “as goes California, so goes the Nation,” If that is true, I would say that the Nation had best strap on its seat belt for some hard times ahead. California is currently four years into the worst drought in recorded history. While the word drought gives the impression that this is a short-lived, inconvenient condition with which we have to live for a little while, things are actually far more serious. NASA scientist Jay Famiglietti recently warned that California’s water reservoirs have just one year remaining before a catastrophic collapse.

In his own words, as published in the LA Times: “[T]he state has only about one year of water supply left in its reservoirs, and our strategic backup supply, groundwater, is rapidly disappearing. California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought…. [Groundwater] pumping rates are excessive and unsustainable. … Wells are running dry. In some areas of the Central Valley, the land is sinking by one foot or more per year.” It isn’t just that no fresh water, via rain or snow, is coming into California, but that underground aquifers and other former backup sources are also running dry. According to research published in the journal Science, the entire Western United States has lost an astounding 240 gigatons of water since 2013, an amount equivalent to 1 billion tons. UC Santa Cruz Professor Lisa Sloan co-authored a 2004 report in which she and her colleague Jacob Sewall predicted that the melting of the Arctic ice shelf would cause a decrease in precipitation in California and hence a severe drought. The Arctic melting, they claimed, would warp the offshore jet stream in the Pacific Ocean. MORE

Bizarre ‘sea serpent’ than can ‘predict earthquakes’ washes up on beach

Posted: 01 May 2015 06:20 AM PDT

The usually deep sea dwelling oarfish, which can reach eight metres in length and have been known to bite their own tails off, was found dead by a stunned wildlife expert, who had never seen such a sight. It washed up at the Otago Harbour, near Dunedin, on New Zealand’s South Island. David Agnew, of the local Department of Conversation, said: “It was really fresh, it had just washed up on the night tide and looking at it, it was a pretty weird looking creature. I have never seen such a fish in 20 years of living here. “It didn’t have scales like other fish, it had smooth skin, like tinfoil, and if you rubbed it the silver would come off.”

The New Zealand Marine Studies Centre and Aquarium posted on Facebook: “Healthy oarfish are known to wash up on beaches and are sometimes found near the water surface – so may be the origin of some ‘sea monster’ myths. “Specimens larger than 1.5 metres are known to shorten their length by biting off their tail.” Mysteriously, the creature was gone from the beach the next day, either washed back out to sea, or taken by someone. Officials urged for it not to be eaten as it was unclear how it died and the fish is not believed to taste good. Russia may be readying for new Ukraine offensive

Posted: 01 May 2015 06:15 AM PDT

Russia’s military may be taking advantage of a recent lull in fighting in eastern Ukraine to lay the groundwork for a new military offensive, NATO’s top commander told the U.S. Congress on Thursday. U.S. Air Force General Philip Breedlove, the NATO supreme allied commander, said Russian forces had been seeking to “reset and reposition” while protecting battlefield gains, despite a fragile ceasefire agreed in February. “Many of their actions are consistent with preparations for another offensive,” Breedlove said. Pressed during the hearing, Breedlove acknowledged he could not predict Moscow’s next move but characterized its ongoing actions as “preparing, training and equipping to have the capacity to again take an offensive.”

“In the past they have not wasted their effort,” Breedlove told the Senate Armed Services Committee. The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), which is monitoring the ceasefire, says the violence is down markedly since the accord was signed in Minsk, Belarus, in February. But the United States says Russia now has its largest force on the border since October and has deployed additional air defense systems, the biggest number since August. Breedlove said Russia was seeking to tighten its grip over separatist fighters, bolstering its command and control “because there was disunity in some of the earlier attacks.” “We do see a very distinct Russian set of command and control in the eastern part of Ukraine,” he said. Why Looted Business Owners Should Take The Insurance Money And Abandon Baltimore

“We’re a community-based store, and the community took care of us last night. They wiped us out,” said Brian Levy.

During the recent race riots in Baltimore, reports have been coming in that  black-owned businesses were protected from the looters by street gangs. Crips, Bloods and Black Guerilla Family gang members reportedly stood guard in front of some black-owned businesses to protect them from would-be looters and arsonists. Instead, the criminals were directed to businesses owned by Arabs and Chinese, according to The New York Times.

The owners of Baltimore’s Sports Mart in Mondawmin Mall released surveillance video of ‘hundreds’ of looters rampaging through the family-owned business Monday night.

The above video shows Black men and women pouring in to the store and stealing everything in sight. The owners of the store are white. WJZ-TV in Baltimore aired the footage and interviewed the owners. They said the store was cleaned out–including the safe which was found in the street a block-and-half-away.

Looters in the Ferguson race riots last year were never brought to justice, and from the looks of things, no one will be prosecuted for anything here in Baltimore, either. So the time has come to send a message, a financial message, that will reverberate through the deserted streets of the city long after the riots have subsided.

Every, single business owner that was robbed and looted during these staged demonstrations should take the insurance money and leave the city of Baltimore immediately. Don’t waste your time trying to rebuild in a corrupt, inept town like Baltimore. It’s only going to happen again, the George Soros funded Liberals will make sure of that. Obama and his minions want racial unrest, they want violence in the streets, they want another Civil War. But you have the power to take that prize away from them. Leave. Go somewhere that people will appreciate you and the police will actually protect you.

Abandon Baltimore until the only people left are the criminals and the politicians. No one will be able to tell the difference, anyway.

Send a non-violent message of protest that will actually accomplish something. Be part of the solution and get out.

The Shocking Real Reason Obama Is Pushing So Hard For Legalized Same-Sex Marriage

In a rare moment of candor, Solicitor General Donald Verrilli sent a clear signal on where this debate is headed, and it isn’t to the marriage altar.

real-reason-obama-wants-same-sex-marriage-supreme-court-lgbtq-mafia-gay-queer

As the President’s chief attorney made stunningly clear, redefining marriage is not — and has never been — the end goal of homosexuals. Silencing dissent is. And you can’t silence dissent without punishing speech and belief — which is apparently what the government has in mind if the Court rules in the Left’s favor.

Looking ahead to a possible constitutional right to same-sex “marriage,” Justice Samuel Alito asked a key question: “In the Bob Jones case, the Court held that a college was not entitled to tax-exempt status if it opposed interracial marriage or interracial dating. So would the same apply to a university or a college if it opposed same-sex marriage?” With chilling honesty, Verrilli admitted, “It’s certainly going to be an issue. I don’t deny that. I don’t deny that, Justice Alito. It is — it is going to be an issue.”

Translation: If churches, religious groups, schools, or nonprofits won’t surrender their beliefs on marriage, the government will make it hurt. A lot. Imagine what’s happening to Aaron and Melissa Klein (slapped with a $135,000 fine for their marriage views) occurring on a national scale through hijacked tax exemptions, Pell grants, loans, and other government contracts. If the Supreme Court finds invisible ink granting a “right” to same-sex “marriage” in the Constitution, it will be a declaration of war on principled objectors. Any nonprofit that holds to a natural definition of marriage — the same definition our own President held three years ago — would have a target on its back. (Or a bigger target, I should say.)

Besides, Justice Antonin Scalia fired back, “If you let the states do it, you can make an exception… You can’t do that once it is a constitutional proscription.” Carried to its logical conclusion, the government would be in a position of punishing any non-sanctioned views. This is about controlling beliefs and actions the government doesn’t agree with — which is not only a direct attack on our First Amendment freedoms, but an attack on what it means to be an American. This is what the Left has been searching for: a selective, surgical removal of the conservative voice.

And the disadvantaged, poor, needy populations the Left claims to care about would be the unintended victims. Under this brave new world of “progressive totalitarianism,” as Ed Whelan calls it, churches, Christian media, schools, or groups like FRC wouldn’t be the only ones suffering. People around the world served by Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army, Samaritan’s Purse, World Vision, and countless others who depend on the generosity and efficiency of their programs would feel that pain. So much for love being love.

As horrifying as Verrilli’s revelation was, the Solicitor General might have done us a huge favor. No one has made a better case for Congress’s Marriage and Religious Freedom Act than the Obama administration just did. Under the bill that conservatives plan to reintroduce, it would be illegal for the government to discriminate against individuals, organizations, and small businesses who believe in natural marriage. The same institutions that Verrilli vows to hunt down — child welfare organizations, private schools, religious universities, relief providers, abstinence groups, military religious contractors, adoption agencies, and political nonprofits — would be spared the government’s crackdown.

If you like your religious liberty, you could keep it. A concept that Tuesday’s proceedings proved is more and more foreign.” [1] – source

It’s coming brethren. They’re prepared to brand us as speakers of hate and intolerance.
Our founding fathers would weep.

MARANATHA!

The Real Immigration Issue Is Jobs

Iowa staged a big show-and-tell for nine 2016 presidential candidates last week. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker seems to be the only one who talked about a growing issue at the grassroots: how American jobs and wages are adversely affected by Obama’s immigration policies. The argument that immigrants do jobs that Americans won’t do is as phony as a three-dollar bill. As Thomas Sowell pointed out, “Virtually every kind of ‘work that Americans will not do’ is in fact work that Americans have done for generations,” and “most of the people doing that work today are Americans.” The United States…

The reaction among responsible black and white law-abiding citizens to the black thugs rioting in Baltimore was captured by Toya Graham, the black mother who smacked her son around when she found him on the streets joining the attacks on police. Even liberals in the major media applauded her efforts. “I don’t want him to be a Freddie Gray,” she told CBS News [1], referring to her son and the black youth who died under mysterious circumstances while in police custody. CBS reported, “Graham, a single mom with six children, denounced the vandalism and violence against police officers. She said…

Supreme Court Justice: If The Supreme Court Accepts Homosexual Marriage As A Constitutional Right, Then The Government Will Force Christian Pastors To Conduct Homosexual Marriages

Tyranny is on the horizon . . .

Justice Scalia repeatedly suggested that once a constitutional right to marry by same-sex couples was enshrined by the court, a member of the clergy could not be given civil marriage powers by the state unless he agreed to perform any and all marriages that the nation legally recognizes.

Even So, Come, Lord Jesus

However, let us not overlook the obvious. God in His mercy has given us many, many signs that will accompany the Tribulation. Now remember, there are no signs for the Rapture, and keep in mind that the Rapture PRECEDES the Tribulation. So, since many of these signs for the Tribulation have already formed and are increasing in quantity and intensity, just as Jesus said they would, His return could be at the door.

In-Depth: Key Questions and Remarks From the Supreme Court Oral Arguments on Marriage

by Marsha West

Ryan T. Anderson, who writes primarily about marriage and religious liberty for the conservative Heritage Foundation, fills us in on some of the best portions of the oral arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court:

Supreme Court building

Tuesday’s oral arguments at the Supreme Court were excellent. There were so many good points made about what marriage is and why redefining marriage would cause harms.

This litany of harms stands in stark contrast to the outrageous lower court rulings that had declared no rational basis to state marriage laws defining marriage as it always had been in America: a union of husband and wife.

Most importantly, it was clear that the nine Supreme Court justices do not have any greater insight on ideal marriage policy than do ordinary American citizens. And the Constitution itself is silent about it.

So the justices should uphold the authority of citizens and their elected representatives to make marriage policy in the states.

Atheists Seek Investigation Into Christian’s ‘Presence’ in Debate Class to Speak on Critical Thinking

by Marsha West

Christian News Network reports:

An atheist group has requested an investigation into the presence of a recognized biblical creation leader and debater at a Georgia high school, where he recently spoke to students about critical thinking.

In late March, Eric Hovind, the president of the Florida-based ministry Creation Today, addressed a debate class at Troup County Comprehensive High School in LaGrange. Hovind says that his talk did not include mention of his faith or creation, but was rather a general discussion on critical thinking.

But as Hovind had engaged in a debate with a local humanist two days prior and had posted a photo of the event on social media, and since he is a born-again Christian who is known to speak against evolution, atheists became upset with school officials for allowing Hovind to address students.

“My Last Day” — the Jesus Anime

9 powerful minutes of animation that begins with a thief behind bars watching the scourging of Jesus, and it ends with the thief dying next to Jesus, and waking to see Him in a beautiful place.

The dying thief: What was so great about his faith?

There are many acts of extraordinary faith in the Bible. The one that has impressed me the most concerns the dying thief on the cross. We could take the approach that he had nothing to lose, so he decided to cast his lot with Jesus. But this makes absolutely no sense of the text and the context.
In this conversion we have a specific fulfillment of Christ’s first words on the cross. No sooner had Christ spoken the words, “Father, forgive them,” had the Father answered that prayer by turning a once-reviling criminal into a Christ-glorifying saint. While the soon-to-be converted criminal was not directly responsible for Christ’s death, he nevertheless joined with those who were and was thus indirectly addressed when Christ asked for God to forgive “them.”
Christ, the sinless one, was numbered with or counted among the transgressors (Isa. 53:12; Luke 22:37), all of whom have a bigger problem than the day-to-day sins they commit. They hate Christ, the God-man. Anyone who has a master other than the Lord Jesus hates him (Lk. 16:13; Gal. 4:8). That these two criminals loathed him is clearly manifested during the crucifixion: “And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way” (Matt. 27:44).
When the criminal who was converted was doing his worst against Christ, Christ was doing his best for this criminal.
The conversion of the one criminal was most extraordinary and testifies to the power of Christ’s prayer and the grace of God. Why?
This criminal’s faith did not come at a time such as when Christ turned water into wine; or performed miracles, such as walking on water, opening the eyes of a blind man, or raising Lazarus from the dead. No! The criminal believed on the Messiah while he was hanging as one cursed upon a tree. The criminal trusted in and boldly defended the one whose disciples had abandoned him. Jesus was at his lowest when this criminal asked to be remembered in Christ’s kingdom.
When he was on the cross, did anyone publicly cry out, as John the Baptist did, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn. 1:29)? But this is essentially what the dying thief did. Little wonder, then, that Christ should promise him a place in his kingdom: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (Lk. 23:43).
The criminal acknowledged he was guilty; he acknowledged that Christ was not (“this man has done nothing wrong”); he feared God; but, and here is the key: the criminal did not merely want to be in a better place. He wanted to be with Christ in a better place: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Lk. 23:42). The criminal believed “against all hope”.
Heaven is a better place because that is where Christ is. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but not everyone wants to go to Christ’s heaven. Not so with this criminal: he saw, with his eyes, Christ at his worst; but with the eyes of faith, he believed that Christ would soon be at his best, and so put his faith in a dying king.
Christ is always – always! – willing to save even the most miserable of sinners. A recognition of guilt (Lk. 23:40) and a confidence in him and not ourselves (Lk. 23:42) will always lead to the most assuring truth a sinner can receive: the Savior welcomes such into his paradise!
“One is saved, and we may not despair; the other is lost, and we may not presume.” Spurgeon

I Can Do All Things

Out of context, Philippians 4:13 is used as a blank-check promise for whatever is desired. But in context, it is a verse is about contentment. It’s not about your dreams coming true or your goals being met. Rather it’s about being joyful, satisfied, and steadfast even when life is hard and your circumstances seem impossible.

Hyper-Headship and the Scandal of Domestic Abuse in the Church

We, the council of elders at Bethlehem Baptist Church, are resolved to root out all forms of domestic abuse (mental, emotional, physical, and sexual) in our midst. This destructive way of relating to a spouse is a satanic distortion of Christ-like male leadership because it defaces the depiction of Christ’s love for his bride. The shepherds of Bethlehem stand at the ready to protect the abused, call abusers to repentance, discipline the unrepentant, and hold up high the stunning picture of how much Christ loves his church.

Historical-Grammatical Interpretation and the Song of Songs

How does this affect the way we read the Song of Songs? This is where HGI runs into a problem, because HGI recognizes the reality of figurative language, such as metaphor, simile, and symbolism. But HGI itself will not tell the reader when figurative language is being used. That has to be determined by markers in the larger context of a work, and at times interpreters will disagree as to whether those markers are present, or what their significance may be.

One of the Best (and Most Overlooked) Explanations of the Plan of Salvation

The logic and flow of Warfield’s argument are powerful and weighty. He builds such momentum towards Particularism (Calvinism), that even at an early point in the book the reader gets the sense that it is an inevitability. All the biblical and theological arrows are pointing in the same direction.

Will the American Church Be a New Smyrna?

Jesus had a simple message for the believers in Smyrna that is needed by American Christians today: “Do not fear what you are about to suffer” (Rev. 2:10). Do we doubt our Lord’s ability to preserve us under trial? Do we question his willingness to support us under unjust oppression? Then of what are we afraid? Jesus’ message to Smyrna reminds us that we have every reason for confidence and joy if we are given the privilege of suffering for his name.

Embers to Flames: A Pastor’s Perspective on the Baltimore Riots

As soon as a group of young people in Baltimore felt emboldened and believed the governing authorities would give them room to destroy (and that their parents would not hold them accountable) many seized the opportunity. Addressing poverty, improving infrastructure and repairing relationships with law enforcement will not change that. The only hope for changing hearts is the gospel. We must be born again.

Confessions, Oedipus Rex, and Dust in the Wind

The revival of interest in confessions over the last decade seems to have been preparing us for the times in which we now live. Those who are not protesting will not be distinctive and will vanish into the cultural fog. Those who have no confession robust enough to provide an ecclesiastical foundation for a protest rooted in the whole counsel of God will not stand.

My Love-Hate Relationship with Social Media

by Samantha Loucks | 4/30/15

Raise your hand if you like social media. My hand is way up because I give social media a big thumbs up. As a young journalist, I’m ultra enthusiastic about the way today’s growing social platforms connect us and inform us. And as a Christian, I’m even more enthusiastic about the ways we’re able to share gospel truth via media.

We can use social media well, or we can use it incorrectly.
But here’s the thing about social media: It’s a tool that can be used for great good, but also lots of bad.

Just like any other tool, we can use it well, or we can use it incorrectly. As Christians, when we use it incorrectly, we smear our testimony for Christ. We fail to share His love and the gospel message.

So girls, I want us to have hearts that desire to glorify God with our social media accounts. With this in mind, here are 5 tips for keeping your testimony on social media in check.

How Carl Trueman Changed My Mind About Luther – “An understanding of Luther’s approach to the Christian life is fundamental to understanding the varieties of practical Western Christianity over the last five hundred years”

Exactly What is a “Church”?

As we prepare for our Watchman Conference tonight, our keynote speaker Elijah Abraham joins us to discuss what Jesus meant when He said “I will build my church.” What is a “church” in America compared to the “church” in countries where proclaiming your faith in Jesus Christ might lead to imprisonment or execution? Is the […]

On Capital Punishment, Part 3

by Bill Muehlenberg

Some years ago I wrote a two-part article examining the biblical and theological rationale for the death penalty (DP). Since then I have also penned a two-part article looking at the secular case for it, covering philosophical, social, political and legal aspects.

However the issue keeps cropping up, and every time some very public case of capital punishment arises, there are heaps of folks – including heaps of Christians – who come out furiously decrying this, claiming it is barbaric and has no place in a civilised society.

And believers will throw up all sorts of objections, seeking to take the high moral ground here, even claiming the DP is unbiblical and unChristian. But these objections are all rather weak, and can easily be dealt with biblically and theologically. Here then are some of the common objections bandied about:

Neither Moralism Nor License

Any church which teaches that we can trust in our own righteousness; that God favors us, and not others, because we are somehow better … and/or teaches that Jesus’ main mission was to be a moral example that we are to follow, can no longer be considered remotely Christian

The four sin-restraining mechanisms presently operating in the world (not too well, obviously)

I was listening to a sermon from John MacArthur, delivered this past February 2015, apparently to a group of law enforcement officers. It’s called How God Restrains Evil in Society. To sum up the main points, there are four ways God restrains evil:

1. The conscience. Everyone has the law written on their heats. “They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them” (Romans 2:15). This means that intrinsically, people intuit right from wrong. Their conscience tells them when they’ve drifted into the ‘wrong’ side of the street.

2. The Family.

While conscience is a personal restraint, family is a relational restraint. Family is the building block of society. Family is the building block of civilization. God has established the family to be a loving, truthful, exemplary place that restrains evil in the next generation.

3. The Civil Authority (including law enforcement).

This is a societal restraint. Biblically, the prime duty of civil authority – if you look at the Bible, the Old Testament and New Testament – it’s not charity, it’s not economics. The primary duty of civil authority is the moral well-being of its citizens. It is restraining sinners and rewarding those who do good so that we can be civilized; enjoy a measure of peace and joy in life and God’s creation.

4. The Holy Spirit through the church

The final restraint is the church; the church. That is a spiritual restraint. And when I talk about the church, I’m talking about the organized church because there are a lot of false churches and a lot of phony religion as you all know very well. I’m talking about true Christians, true believers. What makes us a restraint is because God has done a work in us that is internal. (2 Thessalonians 2:7)

A little side trip regarding the Holy Spirit as Restrainer-

The Holy Spirit of God is the only Person with sufficient (supernatural) power to do this restraining. … How does He do it? Through Christians, whom He indwells and through whom He works in society to hold back the swelling tide of lawless living. How will He be taken out of the way? When the church leaves the earth in the Rapture, the Holy Spirit will be taken out of the way in the sense that His unique lawlessness-restraining ministry through God’s people will be removed (cf. Gen. 6:3). The removal of the Restrainer at the time of the Rapture must obviously precede the day of the Lord. Paul’s reasoning is thus a strong argument for the pretribulational Rapture: the Thessalonians were not in the Great Tribulation because the Rapture had not yet occurred.

Constable, T. L. (1985). 2 Thessalonians. In J. F. Walvoord & R. B. Zuck (Eds.), The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An Exposition of the Scriptures (Vol. 2, p. 719). Wheaton, IL: Victor Books.

It is so saddening to see the restraints lift. In each case I believe it is plain to see that sin is advancing beyond the previous beachheads.

1. The Conscience
There is force and fervor in the declarations of the individual who suppresses the truth in unrighteousness, searing their conscience. Gay pride, (a monstrous reversal where sodomy was against the law until recently but is now celebrated ‘proudly’) polygamous marriage, (“what’s one more? It doesn’t change the definition of marriage”) child molestation (“it’s how I show love”), pornography (“it doesn’t hurt anyone”) are but a few examples of how the sinner is attempting to normalize sin to the expense of their conscience- and eternal destiny.

2. The Family
As for the family, we saw a stark example of a mom restraining sin in her son this week. In Baltimore as the riots were ongoing over the muddy circumstances of the death of Freddie Gray in police custody, a mom spotted her son throwing bricks with the rioters and she marched in and smacked him down and boxed his ears and took him by the proverbial earlobe to home.

http://www.abc2news.com

The NY Post opinion piece stated:

Parents have authority that a badge cannot confer. Son realized the person who knows him best, and is more interested than anyone else in his well-being, was right. So he submitted to her superior authority. Crime, conviction and punishment all happened without the criminal justice system getting involved.

What’s interesting is the fact that so many people are hailing the Baltimore mom for…doing her job. This is because society infrequently sees strong parenting, or parenting with authority. Parents long ago capitulated their jurisdiction and ceded their ground to the children. It’s most exhibited in the parent who constantly asks their child for permission to do such and such. “Do you want to go home now?” “Can you please put down the screwdriver?” “Do you need a nap?” The questions should be “Why are we thrilled a mom hunted down her son and prevented him from wrong doing? Where is his dad? Why did the mom have to wade into a dangerous situation to extract her son? And…where were all the other parents of the teens out there in the riot and why didn’t they come get their kids?

3. Civil Authority
I believe anyone who has eyes can see the difficulty in being a law enforcement officer in these days. The law is little regarded and sinful behavior is increasing. Flash mobs (pleasant public pop-up groups of people who sing in harmony to surprised and happy spectators) have shifted to angry mobs lobbing bricks and beating police. The Baltimore Police lost control and were overwhelmed with the fierceness of the reaction to Freddie Gray’s death, circumstances which are still being investigated by the way.

But in very recent years the Baltimore incident is not alone in showing the suddenness of fierce rioting and police losing control. London (2011), Vancouver (2011), Egypt (2012), Ferguson MO (2014) are all top-of-the mind examples of rioting where civil authority was not strong enough to restrain sin, i.e. where police lost control.

Communities are responding with ever-increasing heavy-handed tactics. Rolling out the SWAT team as a first-pass instead of a last resort for example. Purchasing military-grade equipment, is another example. Showy drills and practices is yet another example of the show of force the civil authority is forced to make in response to increasing lawlessness of both the legal and spiritual kind.

There is some push-back to the military intrusiveness into civil authority. One Texas town was concerned enough with troops drilling with military grade equipment they sent the State Guard to monitor them so martial law would not be instilled.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbot ordered the Texas State Guard to monitor federal troops as they conduct Jade Helm 15 military exercises later this year that some fear are a prelude to declaring martial law. … Operation Jade Helm 15 is a massive training exercise involving 1,200 special operations troops operating clandestinely in several southwest states, including Texas, which, for the duration of the exercise, has been designated a hostile country.

The Governor is being made fun of and called paranoid, but martial law was put in place in Boston after the terrorist bombing at the Marathon, and again in Baltimore as the riots erupted. The problem is not martial law, when it’s temporary until a riot or terrorist situation is under control. It’s forgetting to lift martial law afterwards.

Not many towns like the one in Texas resist the heavier handed displays of force to combat rising lawlessness. It’s a circle the drain situation because the more citizens disobey the law the fiercer the law enforcement gets, the harder the lawless ones push, and so on. The bottom line is that civil authority such as laws, police, and jails are beachheads that have been penentrated and are presently being overrun.

4. The church
This is a sad one too. It is ‘organized religion’ that is the restrainer at present (energized by the Spirit) but organized religion is under attack- from inside. “Christians” decry organized religion and want only a “relationship with Jesus”, but the Church is a restraining force Jesus instituted for the benefit of society through one-on-one evangelizing and for making disciples. Change occurs on the inside of a person by Jesus making a new creation. The soul-by-soul salvation and protection and growth of the new babes in Christ takes place in the church through the mechanism of organized religion. When religion is organized it is easier to submit to those in authority because you actually know who they are. It is easier for the pastor to hold those who are part of the organization accountable because he actually knows who they are. But many liberals want to do away with the organized religion part, making ‘Jesus followers’ like free-floating amoebas occasionally bumping into one another and then drifting around in a primordial soup of feel good platitudes that passes for purity.

This attitude is a direct attack on the force that Christians have in restraining sin. Combine that attack with apostasy and many tares infiltrating the church and you have a visible ‘church’ that can’t, won’t, or doesn’t know how to restrain sin.

One example of this is the decree that famous pastors have signed announcing they will not follow the law if the Supreme Court institutes gay marriage for all the land. Many, many of the signatories are not of the faith. Signatories include Orthodox priests, Catholic priests, James Robison, Rick Joyner, Rod Parsley, Sid Roth, John Hagee, Franklin Graham, Johnathan Cahn, female pastors, self-styled prophets, false; all of them. It is nice to politically stand for marriage but it is not biblical to partner with darkness to do it. We change people from the inside by giving the Gospel and the Spirit birthing them again.

Yet the world is reporting that the ‘church’ and ‘pastors’ are objecting to the pending decision by SCOTUS. Yet those above are not the church. They are tares. Sin isn’t being restrained, not with that crowd.

If these 4 vanguards of sin-restraint, (conscience, family, civil authority and the church) are weakening to such a degree, how much closer would the rapture be when the Church is totally taken out of the way and he who has been restrained (antichrist) is let loose? How long until the man of sin is released onto a world that wants to ‘be free’? How long until no one will tell anyone else that what they are doing is wrong, and which offends a holy God? Sinners, be careful what you ask for.

As for us, we continue to be holy as He is holy, relying on the Spirit to continue in the faith. Shine brightly, the light of holiness and purity will be a beacon to those who are either being drawn to Him or are being repelled and want to shield their eyes.

What should we do in these times? Protect our restraining mechanisms.

1. Conscience
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:22)

2. The Family
The strong, biblical family is a stepping stone to keeping the church pure-
For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? (1 Timothy 3:5).

3. Civil Authority.
Rome was a brutal and evil empire in many respects. The first century saints were told to submit to it. (1 Peter 2:12, Romans 13:5). We do the same. Unless we are forced by law to directly contradict God’s law, we submit to civil authority. And don’t let your kids throw bricks at police.

4. The Church
Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. (Ephesians 2:20-22)

Keep the church pure by being pure yourself. Also, respect doctrine and keep it pure. Speak up in humility when errant doctrine infiltrates your church. And pastors, practice rightly biblical church discipline so the church will remain strong. We need the church to restrain sin in the world. Pray.

The Daily Discovery (May 1, 2015)

The heresy of worshiptainment – “The great heresy of the church today is that we think we’re in the entertainment business. A.W. Tozer believed this to be true back in the 1950s and 60s. Church members ‘want to be entertained while they are edified.’ He said that in 1962. Tozer grieved, even then, that it was ‘scarcely possible in most places to get anyone to attend a meeting where the only attraction was God.’”

Exactly What Is A Church? – “As we prepare for our Watchman Conference tonight, our keynote speaker Elijah Abraham joins us to discuss what Jesus meant when He said “I will build my church.”  What is a “church” in America compared to the “church” in countries where proclaiming your faith in Jesus Christ might lead to imprisonment or execution?  Is the “church” in America prepared when persecution becomes a reality?”

How Do You Raise Christians? – “Is there anything believers can do to guarantee the salvation of their children? No doubt many Christian parents have asked that very question, naturally hoping to see their offspring grow to know and love the Lord, and spared the horrors of hell.”

Imperfection and Initiative in the Christian Life – “Will Christians ever completely obey God in this life? Absolutely not. So then we shouldn’t work hard to grow in holiness or exhort others to do the same? Again, the answer is no. The admission of imperfection does not have to be the enemy of endeavor. We can keep trying even if we know we will never fully succeed.”

Why Some Translations Include Acts 8:37 and Others Don’t – “You’re in church for worship, and your pastor is preaching through the book of Acts. The day’s text is Acts 8, the part about Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. Your pastor is reading from the ESV, and you’re following along in your NKJV.”

Extreme Faith, Extreme Power

Q&A-chalkboard

Q.  The following quote is from your lesson of October 18, 2008:

“The only reason Paul performed greater miracles than we do is because he had bigger faith.  The only reason he had bigger faith is because he fought bigger battles”

Really? If I had the same amount of faith as Paul I could perform the same miracles? Is this “level” of faith available to all believers? If so, how do I know when I “arrived” at this level? How do I “work” toward this achievement? I thought we are saved by grace not by works lest any man should boast.

Maybe the truth is I cannot perform the same miracles because I do not have the same gifts and it has nothing to do with the amount of my faith? Maybe you need to read I Corinthians 12, where Paul says not all Christians have all gifts, and different Christians have different gifts, yet ALL are valuable members of the body of Christ.

Why Does God Want To Know Our Thoughts?

I truly love the Lord and I will never give up, it’s just a question I have pondered for years now.

When our self-centeredness aggravates our wounds

The Reformed Reader

When people come to marriage (or any other relationship in life) with emotional wounds, we who walk alongside them have many opportunities. On the one hand, we can demonstrate tenderness and gentleness to them. They have faced a variety of kinds of abuse and benefit from people who do not downplay the serious toll such abuse has taken on them. A patient spirit, a willingness to listen, and a willingness to take the time is a wonderful healing salve that contrasts dramatically with the harshness directed toward them by their abuser.

But on the other hand, when people come to relationships with emotional wounds, we can also help them find comfort in an oft-neglected way: by helping them learn to respond to that woundedness in ways that bring glory to God, ways that will also help them to find true peace, comfort, and healing. You see, the scars of abuse…

And here is the MP3 for the cross-examination only, which is what I will be summarizing. (12.5 Mb)

The full debate can be seen here and can be heard here.

Turek’s cross-examination period starts at 74m22s and ends at 89m20s.

Shermer’s cross-examination period starts at 89m50s and ends at 105m0s.

Topics of Turek’s cross-examination:

  • evolution produces Shermer’s moral sense and Hitler’s moral sense
  • why does Shermer think his is better than Hitler’s, since both were produced by the same evolution?
  • what makes right or wrong if evolution is the source of morality?
  • why is Stalin’s opinion of right and wrong less valuable than the herd’s opinion of right and wrong?
  • do the Founding Fathers ground inalienable rights in a Creator…
