The numbers are impressive. In the first few days of reservations since the battery announcement late on April 30, Tesla took orders worth roughly $800 million in potential revenue.

Job Numbers Can Be Summed Up in One Word: ‘Unchanged’

When will the U.S. economy roar back to life? First quarter GDP dismally underperformed expectations, and it can’t be blamed on the weather. The only good number in April’s Bureau of Labor Statistics’ jobs report is that the U.S. economy added 223,000 jobs. But even that number is tempered by the paltry number of workers the country added in March. Unemployment “was essentially unchanged” as it was 5.4%, and the U-6 measure of labor underutilization edged down a tenth of a percentage point to 10.8%. And the labor force participation rate remains at historic lows. “Since April 2014, the participation rate has remained within a narrow range of 62.7 percent to 62.9 percent,” the report says.

Of the jobs that were added, most of the growth was in the economic sectors of professional and business services, health care and construction. The oil and gas industry lost 3,000 jobs in April, which shows it’s contracting and jettisoning workers after the glut of energy production in December. The factories are slowing down, as the average manufacturing workweek is shortening to 40.8 hours. This is all in contrast to the Obama administration’s mantra that the economy will kick itself out of first gear any day now. Before BLS released the numbers, The New York Times said the shadowy policymakers at the Fed will be watching this report to see if they should raise interest rates. While it would be nice to get a little something for keeping money in a bank, it seems like the Fed will follow the economy’s lead and stay frozen.

Surprise! British Conservatives Win Election

The Conservative Party won an absolute majority in Parliament in Great Britain’s elections Thursday, ensuring not only that Prime Minister David Cameron will still reside at 10 Downing Street but that the party can govern alone after five years in a coalition. The results confounded British pollsters, who had predicted a tight race and perhaps even a loss for Conservatives, also called Tories. (Completely wrong polls sound quite familiar.) But National Review’s Andrew Stuttaford has a theory: “Where did the pollsters go wrong? Probably by underestimating the amount of ‘shy Tories’ that there are. Brits should pause to think of what it says about the country’s intellectual climate that so many voters on one side of the aisle are unwilling to disclose their voting preferences.” That, too, sounds sadly familiar.

Cameron ran on a referendum of the Tories’ record of turning around the nation’s economy. He defeated Ed Milliband, whose leftist Labour Party promised a return to a more robust, government-led agenda that would increase spending on entitlements. Labour’s loss was largely attributable to Scotland, where the Scottish National Party took 56 of 59 seats in a typical Labour stronghold. That could mean a new push for Scottish independence, though Cameron could perhaps head that off with a British version of American federalism, shifting more power to the four home nations of the United Kingdom.

Next up: a referendum by 2017 on British membership in the European Union.

Lynch Signals Her ‘Solutions’ to Fixing Unrest in Baltimore

Before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies, newly minted Attorney General Loretta Lynch outlined her proposed budget for the Department of Justice, backing rhetoric with proposed dollars for fixing the unrest in places like Baltimore. First, Lynch proposed boosting the money going to the Community Relations Service, a program arising out of the Civil Rights Act designed to smooth over racial and ethnic tension. But when the CRS glided into Ferguson last year, National Review’s Ryan Lovelace reported that it lectured residents on “white privilege” and the first town hall meetings disintegrated into shouting. Lynch also announced a proposed $69.5 million boost to the Community Oriented Policing Services to make America’s police force more diverse. “Again, it is efforts like these that may help to prevent situations like those in Ferguson and Baltimore,” Lynch said in her written testimony to the committee. Finally, the two-week-old AG suggested she will announce a DOJ probe investigating if Baltimore’s police department used excessive force. Lynch is doubling down and asking for more funding for the failed programs of the past, the very programs that didn’t prevent the problems we have now. More…

MOTHER’S DAY

On Sunday, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, we’re reminded that among the Ten Commandments there is but one that comes with a promise: “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12). President Woodrow Wilson signed legislation in 1914 proclaiming Mother’s Day a national holiday. But then again, we don’t need a holiday to express our appreciation to moms everywhere. FEATURED RIGHT ANALYSIS

Hillary Changes Her Immigration Tune

By Michael Swartz

2015-05-08-110eb42c_large.jpg

If we told you that a 2016 presidential candidate said, “We’ve got to do several things, and I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants… Certainly, we’ve got to do more to our borders, and people have to stop employing illegal immigrants,” you would probably guess one of the GOP candidates. But while that may be the sentiment of a select few in the GOP field, the words were actually uttered by Hillary Clinton in 2003.

Ramping up for the 2016 election, however, Hillary has changed her tune, as millions of illegal aliens have now become prospective voters. Democrats today realize that these “new Americans” can become a huge voting bloc and put several states permanently out of reach to the GOP. So Hillary is now squarely in favor of “full and equal citizenship” for everyone who wants to come to America, illegally or not.

Hillary’s new message is that she would “go even further” than Obama if Congress doesn’t act. “I will fight for comprehensive immigration reform and a path to citizenship for you and for your families across our country,” Hillary told a Las Vegas audience. This includes not only the parents of so-called DREAMers but also illegal aliens who had already been deported but still have relatives here.

“I want to do everything we can to defend the president’s executive orders [on immigration] because I think they were certainly within his authority constitutionally,” she added. “Legally, they were based on precedent that I certainly believe is adequate. And then still try to go further and deal with some of these other issues like the reunification of families that were here and have been split up since the last eight, 10, 12 years.”

But even the Obama administration won’t say whether her idea is legal. “There may be a legal explanation [for her promises] that they have that you should ask them about,” stammered White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest.

So how will Republicans respond? It goes without saying that accusing Hillary of flip-flopping won’t get them very far, as Democrats are only held responsible for what they’re saying at precisely a given moment, subject to change depending on the audience. Moreover, being against unfettered immigration is now equated with racism, and Beltway Republicans run from that comparison like a squirrel from a dog. But the primary hurdle for Republicans is that they’re flip-flopping themselves.

In short, Republicans have no idea how to address the issue in a consistent, principled and conservative way.

But there is a sizable contingent of voters that is sick of mere talk about securing the border first; tired of the federal government standing in the way of states seeking to enforce their own immigration laws; worried about the direction of our nation; and disgusted by the unwillingness of this generation of immigrants to even attempt to assimilate. Yet the Chamber of Commerce and other amnesty proponents continue to move the needle. Competing forces remain in a tug-of-war for the Republican Party, paralyzing it and allowing Democrats to control the narrative.

Unfortunately, while Republicans dither on their response, the federal government is working overtime to bring in more potential “citizens.” By the time Hillary takes office in 2017, it won’t make any difference who she lets in anymore. And what she said in 2003 will be ancient history.

BEST OF RIGHT OPINION

OPINION IN BRIEF

Tony Perkins: “Aaron and Melissa Klein don’t have much in common with Ray Kasper, convicted sexual predator. But they have even less in common, now that the Kleins have been kicked off GoFundMe — and Ray remains. The felon, who is fighting a ‘wrongful conviction’ for sexual assault, is just one of the shocking examples of the fundraising company’s hypocrisy. A week after pulling the financial rug out from under the Christian bakers fined $135,000 and florist Barronelle Stutzman, GoFundMe’s alleged policy against raising money for ‘formal charges of heinous crimes’ certainly rings hollow here. … All Melissa and Aaron Klein are guilty of is exercising the religious liberty the U.S. Constitution guarantees them — and for that, they were deemed unworthy of support by their fellow Americans. Obviously, the real reason had nothing to do with their litigation and everything to do with pressure from the radical Left. If GoFundMe wants to discriminate against Christians, that’s their business. But at least have the spine to come right out and say it instead of inventing a phony excuse about wrongdoing. One look at their website and it’s clear: the only thing that’s criminal is their application of company guidelines.”

SHORT CUTS

Insight: “The most unresolved problem of the day is precisely the problem that concerned the founders of this nation: how to limit the scope and power of government. Tyranny, restrictions on human freedom, come primarily from governmental restrictions that we ourselves have set up.” —Milton Friedman (1912-2006)

Demo-gogues: “In America, our nation is stronger because we welcome and respect people of all faiths, and because we protect the fundamental right of all peoples to practice their faith how they choose, to change their faith, or to practice no faith at all, and to do so free from persecution and discrimination.” —Barack Obama (Unless, of course, you’re a Christian baker or florist who has objections to servicing a same-sex wedding, or an Armed Forces chaplain who offers biblical doctrine to a disgruntled serviceman, or a city official publicly expressing his Christian faith, ad nauseam…)

Non Compos Mentis: “Not right: A min. wage-earning single parent of two must work 50 hrs/week to escape poverty.” —Sen. Cory Booker, evidently opposed to hard work

Village Idiots: “There are so many kids in this country who look at places like museums and concert halls and other cultural centers and they think to themselves, ‘Well, that’s not a place for me, for someone who looks like me, for someone who comes from my neighborhood.’ In fact, I guarantee you that right now, there are kids living less than a mile from here who would never in a million years dream that they would be welcome in this museum.” —Michelle Obama, who seems to think museums are a haven for white supremacists

Dezinformatsia: “Well, [Team Clinton is], frankly, very confident about [the Benghazi] hearing. They think that at the end of the day, Hillary Clinton can take on that committee, and they’re going into it almost welcoming the opportunity, I think, to try to clear the air.” —MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell

And last… “The great thing about Hillary Clinton as a presidential candidate is that everyone already knows not to trust her.” —Frank Fleming

Vatican’s chief exorcist warns that practicing yoga is ‘satanic’

Posted: 08 May 2015 06:23 AM PDT

The successor to Father Gabriele Amorth, the Vatican’s former chief exorcist for 25 years, has come out in condemnation of fantasy novels and yoga, declaring both to cause demonic possession. Speaking to The Independent (UK), Father Cesare Truqui explained how the Roman Catholic Church has seen a steady uptick in reports of demonic possession all around the world, and that popular culture pastimes like reading Harry Potter novels and engaging in Vinyasa are largely to blame.

The popularity of many modern television shows, movies and novels that glorify “demonic” creatures such as vampires and magical wizards has apparently led both young and old alike to engage in certain activities that the Vatican says summon satanic spirits, claims Professor Giuseppe Ferrari. Ferrari recently attended a meeting in Rome where Catholic authorities and delegates discussed how to deal with this alleged demonic possession crisis.

Demonic characters in shows like True Blood and The Vampire Diaries are often portrayed as beautiful human beings with desirable characteristics and superpowers, which may lure the unsuspecting into dabbling in the occult. Father Cesare says he’s seen many an individual speaking in tongues and exhibiting unearthly strength, two attributes that his religion says indicate the possibility of evil spirits inhabiting a person’s body. MORE

Why the California water crisis will lead to a housing collapse, municipal bankruptcies and a mass exodus of climate refugeesPosted: 08 May 2015 06:18 AM PDT

The only proof you need that many Californians are still living in a water fairy tale is the fact that California real estate prices haven’t yet collapsed. Even as the California Governor has declared a state of emergency — and emergency water rationing is under way — there are still people purchasing commercial and residential real estate in precisely the areas that will be hardest hit by that rationing. What is the value of a home or business that has no functioning connection to a water system? Essentially ZERO.

How many California homes and businesses are headed for a zero-water future? Many millions. How many Californians are aware of all this and already have their homes on the market so they can move somewhere else? A very small number… a tiny fraction of the total number of home and property owners invested there. What these people are unfortunately not yet seeing is the catastrophic consequences of a continued drought and how it can utterly destroy the value of their property.

To understand what’s coming, you first need to understand the dynamics of real estate valuations. Here’s a question for you: How many homeowners selling their homes does it take to collapse real estate prices? The answer may surprise you. On any given day in most areas, fewer than 1% of homes are for sale. (99+% of homes are not for sale.) FULL REPORT

5 Prophetic Words About Shaking and Awakening in AmericaPosted: 08 May 2015 06:07 AM PDT

Written By Joe Joe Dawson – I asked the Lord to wake me when He wanted to speak to me and for five nights in a row at 3 a.m., He answered that prayer. The following are five prophetic words the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. I pray they touch yours.

Day 1: The Lord spoke early this morning about the future of the American church. I saw a person walk to the edge of a cliff overlooking a huge valley. The Man of God started shouting to the masses and they got up and started moving toward him. Thousands!

The Lord said complacency was leaving and people were ready to move forward. The America church has tried to advice thought programs and worldly structure, but have produced an Ishmael, but now Isaac is on his way! There is a Move of God coming to the church an Awakening!

Day 2: The Lord woke me early this morning … I felt my bed shake so I jumped up! The Lord spoke very strongly and boldly saying, “Will you answer this call or should I call another?” I said, “I will answer your call.”

The Lord said there is a greater shaking coming to America then anyone can imagine. I’m calling the leaders now. They will be the ones of intercession. The broken ones. They have been preparing for years. The current success the American church thinks she has, will have to be repented for. The American church has produced a Ishmael now its time for Isaac. I’ve never felt God so strong, my friends! We are about to see repentance in our churches from leaders who have taken the focus off God. I encourage everyone to fast and pray. Get ready!

Day 3: The Lord says He is making an offensive response to every demonic attack on America. The Lord is putting His armies in place. This will be a wave, and yes, even greater waves are coming of the responsive attacks from heaven. God wants his people and land back!

Day 4: The Lord woke me at 3 a.m. this morning speaking very strongly about this hour in the church. The Lord said, “I need my watchmen to be alert and ready at all hours!” When the Spirit wakes you get up and pray, don’t pray in bed or roll over. This is the time God needs us to be seeking Him. Everything is silent with no hindrances at this time of Day. Whenever God wants your time, give it to Him. Don’t be sleeping when you should be seeking!

Day 5: This morning the Lord spoke a very strong word to my spirit about the revivalists in the land. Many are falling away from the fight and giving up their calling. Like Elijah the powerful mouthpiece for God, when things got hard he complained and quit. So God raised up Elisha! Never watch someone else answer the call GOD placed on your life. MORE

Hepatitis C-related illness and death increasing in ArkansasPosted: 08 May 2015 06:00 AM PDT

Hepatitis C is now the leading cause or factor in more deaths than HIV in Arkansas, according to new research by Arkansas Department of Health. In a news release, the ADH suggests Hep C related deaths happened almost two times more than HIV related deaths.

The research also showed hospitalizations nearly doubled in the last 8 years with 2,837 in 2004 and 4,141 in 2012. Hep C is a virus that spreads when blood from a person infected with the virus enters someone who is not infected. ADH encourages anyone born between 1945 and 1965 to get tested at least once at one of the 94 county health units across the state. Powerful Storm to Bring Hail, High Winds and TornadoesPosted: 08 May 2015 05:54 AM PDT

A storm will bring a wide range of weather to the West into the Mother’s Day weekend as it drops across California and turns eastward toward the Rockies and High Plains. In addition to spreading cooler air through much of the Southwest, the storm system will bring everything from gusty thunderstorms with spotty hail and locally drenching downpours to blowing dust, a couple of tornadoes and snow. The storm will bring hazards for those traveling on the highways, ranging from poor visibility to wet roads and slushy snow in the passes well inland.

Cold air aloft associated with the storm will first create spotty downpours through Friday from California to much of Nevada, Utah and northern Arizona. Rain of any amount is generally welcomed in California at this stage. However, the nature of the pattern will not deliver enough rain to significantly impact the extreme drought. Some of the downpours could strengthen into locally gusty thunderstorms with hail. A small number of the strongest storms could produce a tornado or waterspout in California. Dormant Supervolcano In California Shows Movement — Sign Of California PressuePosted: 08 May 2015 05:48 AM PDT

The past week of earthquakes (up to May 8, 2015) reveals tremendous seismic pressure building in the Southwest / West coast of the United States. On top of all the other dormant volcanic activity happening globally, such as ancient volcanoes waking up in Japan after 800 years of silence, and unexpected eruptions in Chile — we now are seeing movement begin around MULTIPLE dormant volcanoes along the West coast of the United States.

This comes on top of the news of a fresh underwater eruption occurring off the West coast of Oregon. Most recently, now we see earthquake movement directly at Mono Lake Supervolcano, which is located in Central Eastern California, along the Nevada border. MORE

7,000 Soldiers to Be Permanently Deployed on Streets of FrancePosted: 08 May 2015 04:56 AM PDT

French President Francois Hollande announced 7,000 of the 10,000 soldiers deployed on the country’s streets after the Islamist attacks in January will remain permanently. French police have been on high alert after Islamist gunmen left 17 people dead over three days in attacks on the magazine Charlie Hebdo, a Jewish grocery store and police. The military patrols will guard sensitive sites throughout France in light of the threat of more attacks. France’s miliary presence in the African Sahel region and the Central African Republic has also raised the domestic threat level.

Although Hollande called the soldiers’ presence a “significant effort … even a very big effort” in light of its stretch on the burgeoning French budget, a French official who requested anonymity said that the presence of soldiers could not stem terror attacks. Speaking to the AFP, the official said, “The number of targets has exploded. There are two or three thousand, maybe four thousand, people identified or suspected of evil intentions.” Counter-terrorism experts in France warned last month that the threat of Islamist attacks in France had reached a level “without precedent.”

According to French authorities, close to 800 French jihadists have joined the fight in Syria and Iraq. Four hundred are reportedly still fighting, while 260 have left. An Iraqi news outlet, Shafaq News, quoting French anti-terror agencies, reported Sunday that more than 100 French jihadis had been killed in the conflict. MORE

Violent bond moves signal tectonic shifts in global marketsPosted: 08 May 2015 04:48 AM PDT

A wave of turmoil is sweeping through sovereign bond markets, setting off the most dramatic gyrations seen in recent years and threatening to spill over into over-heated equity markets. Yields on German 10-year Bunds spiked violently by almost 20 basis points to 0.78pc in early trading on Thursday as funds scrambled to unwind the so-called “QE trade” in Europe, with powerful ripple effects reaching Japan, Australia, Brazil and even US Treasuries.

“It is absolute pandemonium in the fixed income markets,” said Andrew Roberts, head of European credit at RBS. “Everybody has been trying to get out of long-duration positions at the same time but the door is getting smaller.” German yields fell back just as fast to 0.58pc later, as bargain-hunters came back into the European debt markets, but are still unrecognisable from the historic lows of 0.07pc two weeks ago.

Ructions of this magnitude are extremely rare in government bond markets. Investors are nursing almost half a trillion dollars in paper losses in two weeks, a staggering sum in what is supposed to be a rock-solid repository for institutional investors. MORE

China Warns Philippines Military to Stay Away from Disputed TerritoryPosted: 08 May 2015 04:44 AM PDT

China has warned Philippine military planes six times to leave disputed areas of the South China Sea and may be “testing the waters” to see if it can establish a no-fly zone in the region, senior Philippine military officials said. “As we were conducting routine maritime air patrols and flying in international airspace, our air force aircraft were challenged over the radio,” Vice Admiral Alexander Lopez told a Senate hearing in Manila on Thursday.
Lopez, commander of the Philippine Western Command, said the pilots ignored the warnings, replying that they are navigating international space.

While Lopez did not provide a timeframe, another senior Philippine air force official who asked to not be identified told Reuters that the six warnings had come in the past three months. That official added that China could be “testing the waters” to see if it can enforce an air exclusion zone above the Spratly archipelago of the South China Sea, where multiple countries have overlapping territorial claims. Obama Is Flooding America With Over 100K+ Muslim Immigrants YearlyPosted: 08 May 2015 04:31 AM PDT

THE MUSLIM IMMIGRATION WARNINGS OFFERED BY DUTCH POLITICIAN GEERT WILDERS—WHO WAS IN THE FACILITY IN GARLAND, TEXAS, THAT WAS ATTACKED BY TERRORISTS LAST WEEKEND—SEEM TO BE COMING TRUE.

Wilders, who has asked his own parliament to hold an exhibition on the Muhammed cartoons from the Garland, Texas event, has warned frequently that high levels of Muslim immigration without assimilation to the Western world—Europe and the United States of America—are dangerous to the culture and values of the West A featured speaker at the Garland event, Wilders has been on a terror hit list since 2010 for proposing to place a tax on the Hijab worn by Muslim women in the Netherlands.

He has also been vocal about stopping all Muslim immigration into the Netherlands.“Take a walk down the street and see where this is going,” Wilders, referring to growing Muslim immigration into his country, previously said. “You no longer feel like you are living in your own country. Anjem Choudary Demands The Death Of ‘Jewish Pig’ Pamela Geller On Fox News (VIDEO)

Islamic Imam Anjem Choudary told Pamela Geller tonight that she should be slaughtered for her Texas cartoon contest.

“And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.” Genesis 16:12 (KJV)

Muslim cleric Anjem Choudary, on Fox News yesterday, not only called for Sharia Law over all of America, he bluntly stated that the Jewish Pamela Geller was “worse than a pig”, and that she deserved to die. Welcome to another church service of the “religion of peace”.

Choudary said Geller should be put before a court and tried, and she would end up punished. Geller shot back, “To blame me and say that my cartoons are controversial… murdering cartoonists is controversial.”

They got into a shouting match and Choudary told her she “knew the consequences.” They continued fighting, Choudary went off on a tangent about the U.S. “murdering innocent people,” and Hannity ended by calling him “evil and pathetic.”

The best exchange of the interview happened when Pam, who was constantly being interrupted by Choudary, said ““I’m talking, sir… I know you’re used to stepping over women but you’re not going to have it here.”’

That was awesome, she has more guts than any 10 of our political leaders combined. She’s as brave as she is beautiful.

We here at NTEB ask all Christians to pray for our friend Pamela Geller, that the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ would keep her safe.

Thank you.

Census Data Confirms Obama Is Flooding America With Over 100K+ Muslim Immigrants Yearly

The Muslim immigration warnings offered by Dutch politician Geert Wilders—who was in the facility in Garland, Texas, that was attacked by terrorists last weekend—seem to be coming true.

Wilders, who has asked his own parliament to hold an exhibition on the Muhammed cartoons from the Garland, Texas event, has warned frequently that high levels of Muslim immigration without assimilation to the Western world—Europe and the United States of America—are dangerous to the culture and values of the West.

A featured speaker at the Garland event, Wilders has been on a terror hit list since 2010 for proposing to place a tax on the Hijab worn by Muslim women in the Netherlands. He has also been vocal about stopping all Muslim immigration into the Netherlands.

muslim-immigration-drastically-changing-american-demographics-islam-sharia-law-biological-jihad

“Take a walk down the street and see where this is going,” Wilders, referring to growing Muslim immigration into his country, previously said. “You no longer feel like you are living in your own country. There is a battle going on and we have to defend ourselves. Before you know it there will be more mosques than churches!”

Wilders’ warning rings true not just in the Netherlands, but in the United States as well.

Immigrants from the Middle East are currently the fastest growing immigration demographic coming into the U.S., a recent report from the Center for Immigration Studies shows. America in just three years imported more immigrants from the Middle East than from Mexico and Central America combined.

In that three years, there has been a 13 percent growth in the number of immigrants from Middle Eastern countries. And according to the Conservative Review, the immigrant population from the Middle East will double in fifteen years and triple by 2050.

In fact, the United Nations is currently planning to settle roughly one million refugees – mostly Muslims – in western countries, Fox News reports.

Senior Editor of Conservative Review Daniel Horowitz argues against the increasing number of refugees. “We should only grant refugee status to those we can absolutely determine will be an asset to our country. It’s not our job or responsibility to incur risk when it is unclear which refugees have proclivities towards Islamic extremism,” Horowitz wrote.

The Changing Muslim Demographics Around The World:

A report derived from information from the 9/11 Commission and the Center for Immigration Studies validates Horowitz’s concerns. The study revealed that, out of 94 foreign-born terrorists operating inside the United States, 59 of them committed immigration fraud before or during terrorist activity.

Census data reveals roughly 100,000 Muslim immigrants are admitted to the United States each year. Immigrants who enter the U.S. legally are entitled to welfare, U.S. jobs and to vote.

Horowitz warns that the increasing Muslim population, coupled with President Obama’s unwillingness to identify Islamic extremism, creates a national security threat.

“With immigration and our legal ports of entry representing the front lines in the war on terror, in conjunction with this president’s unwillingness to recognize the threat from Islamic extremism, our homeland security has already been shut down for years,” said Horowitz.

The Pew Research Center also studied the impact of a growing Muslim population. Pew noted that by 2050, Muslims would outnumber Jews and nearly equal the number of Christians across the world. source

Why Iran is Fearless: They Await the Mahdi

The Twelfth Imam, Mohammed al- Mahdi, was a five-year-old boy who escaped the clutches of the Sunnis. The traditions of Twelver Shiism, the official religion of the Islamic Republic of Iran, claim that he disappeared under mysterious circumstances in the year 874, but remained alive. After his disappearance, he communicated to the world through four agents who died out in 941. At that point the Twelfth Imam went silent, entering the period of “Great Occultation.”

Banking on Netanyahu’s assertion while campaigning for re-election that there would be no Palestinian state during his term in office, Obama is reported exclusively by our sources to have given the hitherto withheld green light to European governments to file a UN Security Council motion proclaiming an independent Palestinian state.

The Wild, Wild West

Then we have Rabbi Jonathan Cahn’s speech the other day at the 226th Inaugural Anniversary of George Washington. If you didn’t hear it, listen here. I only hope that the people in power also listened, because he pretty much bottom lined the predicament of the West and specifically, the United States.

In a nut shell, Dr. Dobson calls for repentance; and Rabbi Cahn explains why what is about to happen is going to happen. And that is because we as a nation, nor the West, have no plans to repent. Life is good.

FAITH CRIMES – How Bad Is It?

How courageous Christians practicing their religion are being persecuted in Obama’s America

But there is another story of growing Christian persecution, which – if not as terrible in scale and severity – is even more inexplicable. That is the rapidly expanding marginalization, demonization and criminalization of the free practice of the Christian faith in the United States of America – a nation uniquely founded upon religious liberty.

Christian recording artist Amy Grant is joining forces with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to push birth control and contraceptives in developing nations. Since Grant says she is pro-life it seems odd that she would work with any foundation that has given pro-abortion groups millions of dollars to advance their agenda. According to LifeNews:

“Planned Parenthood of America, the International Planned Parenthood Federation, and Planned Parenthood of Western Washington about $71 million from before 2009 through 2013. Additionally, the Gates Foundation gave $46.1 million to Marie Stopes International in 2012 alone.

Much of this giving is focused on Africa, Asia, and Latin America, where abortion-providers like Planned Parenthood, Marie Stopes, and Ipas seek to overturn pro-life laws and sometimes even provide illicit abortion drugs.”

Amy Grant is asking her fans to join her in her work. Sadly, her work now includes a partnership with a staunchly pro-abortion foundation.

In the suit, entered into the docket as Driskell v. Homosexuals, Sylvia Ann Driskell, 66, of Auburn, Nebraska, asks in a seven-page, neatly handwritten petition (PDF) that U.S. District Judge John M. Gerrard decide once and for all whether homosexuality is or isn’t a sin.

Humanities Professor Gives Christian Student Zeroes for Rejecting Anti-Christian Teachings

However, Lewis recently was given four straight zeros in her humanities class by Professor Lance “L.J.” Russum for being unwilling to answer his assignments about Christianity in the way that he wanted—which she believed was antithetical to, and hostile to, the faith.

Have You Ever Wondered Why America Is Not Listed Among The Nations In Bible Prophecy?

Is America is on the verge of being judged and destroyed by God Almighty?

“That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;” 2 Thessalonians 2:2,1 (KJV)

EDITOR’S NOTE: As Bible believers, we know and understand that the Rapture of the Church will occur before the time of Jacob’s Trouble, the Great Tribulation of Matthew 24 and Luke 21. But that does not mean that we get off the hook scot-free. Paul says that a great falling away from the faith will happen before the Rapture, and he also says that we will see the Antichrist revealed before the Rapture. Thus we present this to you for your prayerful consideration. We are not trying to alarm you so much as we want to wake. you. up. and to get you prepared for the coming days of prophecy that lay ahead. Click here to read Part 1 of this series.

J.D. Faraq is the Pastor of Calvary Chapel Kaneohe in Hawaii. Every week, he records for YouTube, a Mid-East Prophecy Update as a part of his sermon. Because he was born and raised in Lebanon, he’s well qualified to give a unique perspective and insight into that region with regard to these end of days and what the Bible predicts will happen.

why-america-is-not-in-bible-prophecy-end-times

In his update on 4/26/15, he stated that one of the most frequent questions he gets from YouTube viewers is this: ‘Does America fit into the prophetic equation?’ He stated “I don’t believe it does. Absent repentance and revival, America is a done deal.”

He went on to say that America is on the verge of being judged and destroyed by God, “And even if this country IS the Babylon spoken of in Revelation, then we’re probably even closer to the end by virtue of the prophecy regarding Babylon’s sudden destruction.” I’m sad to say I concur with his assessment, especially when adding all the available data I and many others have been gathering.

Mid-East Prophecy Update – April 26th, 2015:

In Part 1 of this article, I told you about the upcoming military exercise, Jade Helm 15, to be conducted in this country from July 15 thru September 15, 2015. Many people, including active duty and veterans all across the armed services, are nervous about what this might bring. Is this the precursor to martial law being instituted in America? Are they going to start confiscating our guns and dragging us off to the FEMA camps?

I can’t tell you for certain that these things will happen as a result of Jade Helm. However, gun confiscation and the round-up of political dissidents WILL most assuredly occur in the not too distant future. ‘Balderdash,’ you say? ‘Our government will never do something like that—besides, the military would never turn on their fellow citizens.’ Really?? Well, guess what?

This has already happened. After Hurricane Katrina, the National Guard went door-to-door in New Orleans, yelling “National Guard! Does anyone need assistance?” as they broke in. They made illegal entry at gunpoint, into the private homes of American citizens, in direct violation of the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution, and confiscated any guns they could find. One guardsman recounted, “Only a couple of people resisted verbally and they were quickly thrown down, cuffed and thrown in the back of police cars.”

So, don’t tell me it will never happen. It already did! ‘But,’ you say, ‘they’ll never declare martial law all over the country.’ Is that so? Remember the Boston Marathon bombing? Were you not paying attention as hundreds of National Guardsmen, state and local police locked the city of Boston down, ordering residents to “shelter in place?”

MSNBC Host Caught Lying About Boston Martial Law:

Remember watching on the news as these para-military officers, all outfitted in their G.I. Joe soldier gear, riding in their armored vehicles with gun turrets mounted on the top, stormed in groups onto the front porches of private citizens, pounding on the door, ordering the residents to open up?

Go on YouTube and view cell-phone footage of innocent homeowners being ordered out of their houses AT GUNPOINT, hands raised above their heads, some barefoot and in bathrobes, to be pawed and searched on the sidewalk as other officers tramped through their homes, again confiscating any weapons they happened to find. This went on hour after hour, and for what? To hunt down one unarmed teenage boy!

Actually, it was what they call a psyop; a psychological operation designed to test what the response would be from ordinary folks having their freedoms raped in their own country. Sadly, no one resisted this illegal outrage. Not one person. Now, they know they can get away with it, with nary a sniff from the citizens. Will Jade Helm be the same? Again, I don’t know.

I do believe Jade Helm is being held for the purpose of prepositioning men and equipment for when the Powers That Be do declare martial law. It probably won’t be instituted this summer, but they’ll have everything in place for the right time and the Wal-Marts will be their staging area.

BUT…something dreadful is in the works and coming to America soon. I told you I would give you my opinion as to what’s coming, so I’ll spend the rest of this article explaining what I suspect and why. The Lord just shook the world’s hub of Hinduism in Nepal. That was just the beginning.

“See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven. Whose voice then shook the earth: but now He hath promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.’ And this word, ‘Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.’ Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:25-29 (KJV)

Surely by now, you’re awake enough to fully understand we’re living in the very end of days before the Lord Jesus Christ snatches His Bride off this earth and the Father pours out His wrath on the wicked, and deals with Israel. I’ve been taught that a particular sequence of events would occur in this time, but I’m beginning to see that we can’t put God into our preformed box and expect Him to stay there.

The Lord doesn’t usually like to come in the front door. He loves to receive glory and acclaim for His amazing works. No, the front door is for losers. HE likes to come through the window, down the chimney or up through the basement. He loves to do the unexpected to show off His might and strength. Therefore, I’m positive events will NOT play out exactly the way Pastor Brown or Sunday school teacher Sue, taught.

Time to step into the rabbit hole.

(PLEASE NOTE: We do not put stock in modern-day “prophets”, we have the whole Bible as our guide. But we mention Efrain Rodriguez here because the United States military seems to be taking his prophecy quite seriously, and we felt you should know about it from that perspective.)

In 2010, a Puerto Rican man named Efrain Rodriguez wrote a letter to NASA warning that Almighty God had revealed to him that a large asteroid is going to collide with Earth. It will hit the ocean slightly west of Puerto Rico, strike a fault line and cause a 200-400 foot high tsunami to travel into the Gulf of Mexico and all the way up the Eastern Seaboard of America, wiping out coastal cities. It will cause a 10+ earthquake across the world, trigger volcanic eruptions and split America in two up the New Madrid fault line.

Of course, NASA laughed at him. However, in late 2010, news of a huge influx of military equipment, MRE’s, body bags, ammunition and the black, plastic FEMA coffins started to leak out of Puerto Rico. Reporters took notice and people started questioning the sudden governmental activity. Here is an article from Veterans Today describing this prediction.

At the same time, American military contractors were ordered to stop building vehicles for Iraq, and to immediately start building Combat Bridge Trucks (CBT) and Dry Support Bridge Trucks. Both of these military vehicles are designed for use in water disaster areas where roads and bridges are destroyed. They help span waterways, to reconstruct roads and bridges. This was a ‘rush’ order and over 100 of these vehicles were shipped to Puerto Rico. The rest were for use here in the states.

Efrain Rodriguez is not a pastor or evangelist. He travels around warning about this event. He’s not out for money and he’s not crazy by any stretch of the imagination. He does not know WHEN this event will happen but he has given a general outline of what he says will occur.

Interestingly enough, Efrain says this is NOT part of the Tribulation. It is the judgment of God Almighty on America as well as the Caribbean, areas that are rife with hedonism and witchcraft. It’s the Lord’s wake-up call for the apostate church, meant to cause her to repent and turn to Him for cleansing, to get her ready to be taken in the soon coming rapture.

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.” Daniel 12:4, 8-9 (KJV)

I’m not even mentioning all I’ve read about ISIS infiltrating our wide-open borders, preparing for multiple terror attacks. September 13th will have a solar eclipse, and is the end of this Shemitah year. If past history is any indication, America’s economy will collapse on that day. If you’re not sure what the Shemitah is, please look it up. Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, who wrote The Harbinger, discovered the Shemitah cycle as it pertains to the United States.

I know this all sounds crazy. I’ve had a difficult time digesting all this myself, and I’m not even giving you 50% of all I’ve read and watched. September 23-24 is the start of a Year of Jubilee. September 23rd is also Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement. September 25th is the final Blood Moon of the tetrad. Many things converge in September of this year, and it is my guess that’s when this will occur. Of course, the Lord is in charge of His plans and timing. But consider…

America has not repented of her sins. Our disgusting, treasonous president betrayed the Apple of God’s Eye, Israel, by disclosing their classified nuclear weapons cache and program for the whole world to see. He is snubbing them more every day while playing footsie with their avowed enemy, Iran, and America will pay dearly for that. Our Supreme Court is considering changing the very foundation of society by approving sodomite marriage. Our sins just keep piling up.

“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants, the prophets.” Amos 3:7 (KJV)

I’ve included several resources for you to look at and pray over. I ask that you take the time to do so. This is no joke. As a watchman on the wall, I MUST warn of the things I see coming. We ARE in the final seconds of the Age of Grace. Tomorrow is promised to no man. If these events are unleashed upon this world, millions will die. Are you ready to stand before your Creator? Are you covered by the blood of the precious Lamb of God? Are your sins forgiven? TODAY is the day of salvation, people. Please, wake up.

After you’ve reviewed this material, please warn your family and friends. Make sure you share the Gospel with them. Don’t be a coward and say nothing! The days of worrying what men think of you are over. Get over your ego and sound the warning to get ready. Judgment IS coming to America and she will be totally destroyed. Maranatha, Lord Jesus!

“My Last Day” — the Jesus Anime

9 powerful minutes of animation that begins with a thief behind bars watching the scourging of Jesus, and it ends with the thief dying next to Jesus, and waking to see Him in a beautiful place.

The dying thief: What was so great about his faith?

There are many acts of extraordinary faith in the Bible. The one that has impressed me the most concerns the dying thief on the cross. We could take the approach that he had nothing to lose, so he decided to cast his lot with Jesus. But this makes absolutely no sense of the text and the context.
In this conversion we have a specific fulfillment of Christ’s first words on the cross. No sooner had Christ spoken the words, “Father, forgive them,” had the Father answered that prayer by turning a once-reviling criminal into a Christ-glorifying saint. While the soon-to-be converted criminal was not directly responsible for Christ’s death, he nevertheless joined with those who were and was thus indirectly addressed when Christ asked for God to forgive “them.”
Christ, the sinless one, was numbered with or counted among the transgressors (Isa. 53:12; Luke 22:37), all of whom have a bigger problem than the day-to-day sins they commit. They hate Christ, the God-man. Anyone who has a master other than the Lord Jesus hates him (Lk. 16:13; Gal. 4:8). That these two criminals loathed him is clearly manifested during the crucifixion: “And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way” (Matt. 27:44).
When the criminal who was converted was doing his worst against Christ, Christ was doing his best for this criminal.
The conversion of the one criminal was most extraordinary and testifies to the power of Christ’s prayer and the grace of God. Why?
This criminal’s faith did not come at a time such as when Christ turned water into wine; or performed miracles, such as walking on water, opening the eyes of a blind man, or raising Lazarus from the dead. No! The criminal believed on the Messiah while he was hanging as one cursed upon a tree. The criminal trusted in and boldly defended the one whose disciples had abandoned him. Jesus was at his lowest when this criminal asked to be remembered in Christ’s kingdom.
When he was on the cross, did anyone publicly cry out, as John the Baptist did, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn. 1:29)? But this is essentially what the dying thief did. Little wonder, then, that Christ should promise him a place in his kingdom: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (Lk. 23:43).
The criminal acknowledged he was guilty; he acknowledged that Christ was not (“this man has done nothing wrong”); he feared God; but, and here is the key: the criminal did not merely want to be in a better place. He wanted to be with Christ in a better place: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Lk. 23:42). The criminal believed “against all hope”.
Heaven is a better place because that is where Christ is. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but not everyone wants to go to Christ’s heaven. Not so with this criminal: he saw, with his eyes, Christ at his worst; but with the eyes of faith, he believed that Christ would soon be at his best, and so put his faith in a dying king.
Christ is always – always! – willing to save even the most miserable of sinners. A recognition of guilt (Lk. 23:40) and a confidence in him and not ourselves (Lk. 23:42) will always lead to the most assuring truth a sinner can receive: the Savior welcomes such into his paradise!
“One is saved, and we may not despair; the other is lost, and we may not presume.” Spurgeon

Diligence

Brakel goes on to rebuke those who are lazy and not diligent and closes the discussion with an exhortation for Christians to be diligent. Why be diligent? 1) Because it is God’s command (1 Thess. 4:11-12, 2 Thess. 3:11-12), 2) Because diligence is an ornament to the Christian and to the church of God, 3) Because God gives us his own example of diligence (Ex 20:9-11, John 5:17), and 4) Because God promises his blessing upon diligence (Ps. 90:17, Prov. 10:4, 12:24, etc.).

Protective Strategies Here and There

An important point that has not been noted is that no one among those mentioned argues that there is a major issue with the degree of literacy in ancient Israel and with the biblical traditions. Neither Rollston, Schniedewind, Dever, nor I are concerned that evidence for an increase or decrease in literacy will affect some sort of long and dearly held religious or other view. The biblical witness is sufficiently general about the matter, as are the other relevant materials (e.g., Lachish letter 3), so that a variety of literacy views are compatible with what may be different analyses of these texts.

Mark Driscoll Returns, Unrepentant, Unapologetic, Playing the Victim

Pastor Mark, just go away. I mean this with all Christian sincerity. Go away and heal. Go away and repent. Restoration has nothing to do with your ministry. It has to do with your walk. Based upon your sermon, you still have not repented of the role you played in the tragedy of Mars Hill. You know enough Scripture to know that you will answer for every sheep God gave you. Every single person in that pile of dead bodies – you will give account for. You are not the victim here. You played the role of the wolf. Maybe you did not intend to. It does not matter.

Hindu Flood Legend Confirms Bible’s Validity

Given this general principle of Scripture, we should expect similarities in the Genesis account of the flood and other accounts found in other cultures. We might even see that these other accounts predate the writing of the Genesis account. But that is not a problem when we see that it was God’s purpose to tell His people how the flood actually came about. It was not just some natural event, but God’s judgment on the wickedness of the earth.

Protest and Survive, But How?

Churches which are doctrine-lite, or which define themselves with a ten or twelve point doctrinal statement, or which portray themselves as a nice, fun supplement to the more important things of life, are rather like the little pig who built his house of straw. When the wolf blows, the house will simply vanish in the wind. For Christians to continue to protest the world in the public square, they need first to be deeply and seriously grounded in the historic, doctrinal, and elaborate Christian faith.

If You Want to Destroy Your Church, Follow Liberals’ Advice

There’s just one problem with this analysis: It turns out that Millennials are not, in fact, longing for the Episcopal experience. Not many people of any age are. What Evans neglects to mention is that the American religious community has been engaging in a decades-long experiment in exactly the kind of spirituality she proposes, and the Mainline churches — those churches that combine the ancient forms of faith with progressive beliefs — are committing slow-motion suicide.

How to Shut Down Gossip

Gossip is the RPG that blasts holes in the fabric of the church. The way I see it every time someone gossips they injure at least 3 people: the one speaking, the one hearing, and the one being gossiped about. Add to this that gossip is usually not a one time deal but rather involves multiple conversations, we can quickly see how this is the Devil’s Ponzi scheme for getting rich on disunity and providing quick returns to those seeking to gratify the flesh.

New Podcast: The Dangers of Freemasonry, Theosophy and Teenage Occult Entertainment

SPIRITUAL RESEARCH NETWORK

The rife occult symbolism that Freemasonry is steeped in is quite dangerous! Preach the Gospel and ALWAYS Use Words

Romans 10:14-17 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]f you have spent any amount of time in a typical American Evangelical church, especially a seeker-sensitive mega church, you have undoubtedly heard the phrase (wrongly) attributed to St. Francis of Assissi which says, “Preach the Gospel and, if necessary, use words.” Despite the fact St. Francis never actually said this, I’m bewildered by how quickly Protestants have adopted and fashioned a (false) quote from a Catholic friar and preacher into a bludgeon to beat their evangelistic brothers and sisters in Christ over their collective heads.

Not only is the quote itself theologically flawed but, again, I’m absolutely bewildered that Protestants would so gleefully adopt something said to have been uttered by a leader in the theological cult known as Roman Catholicism. I suppose in the sinfully ecumenical Christian climate in which we live, I shouldn’t be surprised that biblically illiterate Christians don’t realize that Roman Catholics aren’t together with us when it comes to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A good Roman Catholic is not a Christian. An apostate Roman Catholic might be saved, depending on the nature of their apostasy. The scope of this article, however, does not include illustrating the anti-biblical nonsense of Rome, so let us move on.

What to Do When Your Parents Don’t Trust You

by Erin Davis | 5/07/15

So, your parents don’t trust you? Maybe every time you have to explain your actions to them you feel like you’ve been put on trial. They drill you about details and keep digging, convinced you’re hiding something. Maybe they take more of a detective approach, digging into your Facebook profile, text messages, and Instagram account. What are they looking for? You’re a good girl! Or maybe you’ve blown it. And you’re wondering if your parents will ever trust you again. Their leash feels too tight. It’s choking you. When will you be able to run free?

First Things First

Before we head too far down this path, let’s get a few things straight.

The Enemy of My Enemy?

by Christopher Ames

Recently (and perhaps surprisingly), a well-known post-semi-evangelical said something that, on its surface, might seem encouraging to us cultural conservative types: “Stop trying to make Jesus cool.” She unleashed an acerbic millennial jeremiad at the baby boomers’ seeker-sensitive model of ministry. Her tearing down of the stronghold was vigorous in a storming barbarians sort of way, but it does highlight one now-obvious truth: the cloying sentimentality that so appealed to the baby boomers nauseates their more worldly children.

She tears down, but does she build up again?

As you read through her response, you may be able to spot some code words from the emergent movement. Here is a representative sample, with such key words in bold:

My friend and blogger Amy Peterson put it this way: “I want a service that is not sensational, flashy, or particularly ‘relevant.’ I can be entertained anywhere. At church, I do not want to be entertained. I do not want to be the target of anyone’s marketing. I want to be asked to participate in the life of an ancient-future community.”

Millennial blogger Ben Irwin wrote: “When a church tells me how I should feel (‘Clap if you’re excited about Jesus!’), it smacks of inauthenticity. Sometimes I don’t feel like clapping. Sometimes I need to worship in the midst of my brokenness and confusion — not in spite of it and certainly not in denial of it.”

Authenticity. Community. Honesty. Old, scruffy rituals. Something foreign and out-of-sync with consumer culture.

But isn’t that what we want?!

For one thing, the perspective is entirely wrong: worship isn’t about me “in the midst of my brokenness and confusion.” Worship centered on “me” is supposedly what they’re rejecting in the seeker-sensitive churches. The seeker-sensitive “me” wants to party at Jesus’ place with rock shows and therapy sermons; the millennial “me” wants church-of-the-NPR-narrative, complete with social justice platitudes and homosexual couples comfortably participating in the neighboring pew.

One could attempt to make an argument for worshiping Dagon rather than Molech, but it seems like more of a lateral promotion to me.

Here’s a helpful analysis of what the author of the above-linked article is really trying to accomplish, complete with her “litany of Millennial demands,” which is a good analytical rubric to keep in your tool chest.

“The Shack Up” – Part 2

The Shack

In the previous post, I introduced the topic of professing Christians “shacking up”, or cohabiting before marriage. I brought up a few common arguments for why professing believers may think about “the shack up”, and then I laid the foundation on which there can be some sort of positive resolution to the issue: the authoritative word of God.

So if we can meet on that foundation, let’s spend a little time in the scripture.  We’re going to address some specific questions that will fence us in for arriving at an answer to the question of whether or not Christians should we move in together.

8 Proofs of Providence

I have invited you, and others, to read a classic book with me as part of my ongoing Reading Classics Together effort. This time around we are reading John Flavel’s The Mystery of Providence. As you may have surmised from the title, this is a book about providence—about God’s care for his people. In Meet the Puritans Joel Beeke and Randall Pederson tell us what we can expect as we read through the book’s three sections and thirteen chapters.

In the first, Flavel explains the evidence of providence in the birth and upbringing of believers, in their conversion and employment, in their family affairs, and in their sanctification and preservation from evil. In the second, he instructs believers on the art of meditating on the providence of God, explaining the duty of such meditation, how to do it, and the benefits of doing it. … Finally, Flavel applies the doctrine of providence by showing its practical implications for believers and the problems of wrestling with it. The book concludes with a chapter titled “The Advantages of Recording our Experiences of Providence.”

But before all of that, Flavel has to lay some groundwork, and this is exactly what he does in chapter one, “God’s Providence in General.” In this opening chapter he means to prove the existence of providence, and does so by asking eight rhetorical questions.

This week I am excited to have Michael Hyatt on the podcast. Michael is the author of the New York Times bestseller, Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World. It is also a Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Amazon bestseller. He’s also the former Chairman and CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers. Michael now writes, speaks, and coaches full-time. He lives just outside Nashville, is married, and has five daughters.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Social media has created an unprecedented opportunity for people to have access to and be influenced by Christian leaders.
  • Twitter is an opportunity for you to be a resource to other people.
  • If your church doesn’t have a website, it doesn’t exist. People won’t take you seriously because they think you don’t care.
  • Consistency is more important than frequency when it comes to blogging.
  • Social media is both an insight station and an influence station.
  • If you’re going to be active in social media, you need something to fill the well so that you have something to give out.

The Daily Discovery (May 8, 2015)

Why This Pastor Left the Church Growth Model – “When a business or a new website or even a church experiences a rapid growth in customers, sales or web hits, we can look at that and get excited – and we should! Today we are talking about Church growth. We saw how God grew the early Church in Acts, through the preaching of repentance and forgiveness of sin. And that happens today too.”

Mark Driscoll Returns, Unrepentant, Unapologetic, Playing the Victim – “Because that is not what Mark Driscoll preached about during his 34 minutes behind the pulpit at the Thrive Conference. Nope. Instead, he preached on ‘struck shepherds.’ He tried to pretend that it was a message for all of the hurt pastors in the audience but given his circumstances the selfish motives were not only evident but staggeringly odious. Especially since he spent the entire first third of the ‘sermon’ telling everyone that he was the real victim of the Mars Hill Debacle. Before we get to the victim cards he played, it is important that people remember what remains on the ledger of Mark Driscoll. I say this because I have seen people and pastors actually defend this horrific record.”

If You Want to Destroy Your Church, Follow Liberals’ Advice – “Evans’s fervent belief is that the key to unlocking Millennial spiritual energy is found in the old ways – not its actual beliefs, mind you, but the trappings of the faith. To Evans, the answer is combining high-church traditions with no-church theology, because ‘the ancient forms of liturgy seem so unpretentious, so unconcerned with being ‘cool,’ and we find that refreshingly authentic.’”

I don’t go to National Day of Prayer Gatherings. Here’s Why – “Writing against a prayer gathering is about as safe as preaching against motherhood and apple pie. Nonetheless, I’ll venture where angels may fear to tread.”

When Christians say “I’m better than you” – “There are some things we can say about those who don’t believe in Jesus that are wholly true and appropriate. There are others, though, that are either just plain silly or impossibly evil. Recently, I found myself considering one of the latter, which goes something like this…”

Q. My Husband and I have a question regarding 1 Timothy 4:16. What does it mean when Paul tells Timothy to persevere, because if he does, he would save himself? Timothy would already have been saved. The Declining Church

Q. Over the last few years, I’ve become increasingly sensitive to deviations from the True Gospel Message. For reasons I don’t quite fully understand, our family has found it quite difficult to find a local congregation that hasn’t been affected by the emerging church, or seeker-friendly trends that promote a social gospel. As the head of our household, I am very concerned about the spiritual welfare of my family.  It almost seems to me as though the true Church is being driven underground. From your experience, is this becoming more normal as we approach the end of this age?

Albert Mohler Blog: “‘Whoever Would Save His Life Will Lose It’ — A Charge for Graduates

In this blog post, Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr. offers a charge to this year’s college graduates, particularly the graduates of Boyce College. Mohler writes:

“Jesus called the crowd and his disciples to himself, and then called for them to follow him. The logic of Christian discipleship is unlike any other logic you will ever hear. He who would save his life will lose it, whoever loses his life for the sake of Christ and his gospel will save it. If anyone is ashamed of Christ and of his words in this generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

William Lane Craig answers: should Christians accept intelligent design?

WINTERY KNIGHT

Here is the question he is answer on his Reasonable Faith web site:

Dr. Craig,

First of all, I appreciate all you have done for the Kingdom of God. I pray you keep up the good work. You are someone I look up to.

I’m taking a philosophy of religion course right now, and it is very fascinating to me. I’m taking the course because I am interested in Christian Apologetics. One aspect of Christian Apologetics is to argue for intelligent design. To my surprise, my professor, who is a Christian, does not believe in intelligent design (ID). I also wanted to point out the fact that in an astronomy class my girlfriend is taking, the professor lectured on how most Christians do not believe in ID.

As I’m pondering on why my Christian professor doesn’t believe in ID and how an astronomy professor lectures on how most Christians don’t…

Learning About God From God: Athenagoras

The Reformed Reader

The Ante-Nicene Fathers, 10 vols. - Edited By: Alexander Roberts Athenagoras (d. c. 200 AD?) was an able Christian apologist in the early church.  Before he became a Christian, he was a Greek philosopher.  After he became a Christian, he used his gifts to defend the Christian faith against the opposition of the Roman government that was hostile to Christians.  One of Athenagoras’ writings that survived is called “A Plea for the Christians,” which was written to Roman rulers and philosophers.  The entire work is certainly worth reading; below is one part that stood out to me.

“Since, therefore, the unity of the Deity is confessed by almost all (even non-Christian Greek philosophers of the past), even against their will, when they come to treat of the first principles of the universe, and we in our turn likewise assert that He who arranged this universe is God – why is it that they can say and write with impunity (exemption…
