Love the unlovable

The Good Light Project

ROMANS 12:14
“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.”

As believers, we find ourselves in an internal civil war, constantly putting to death what is sinful and trying our best to cooperate with saving grace. We serve an amazing God who desires us to mature spiritually and produce good fruit through joyful obedience. Our closest friends and families, even co-workers might fall victim to or become a casualty in our own civil war. This is a direct result of our sinful responses as we live out our faith in our day to day life. We fight to do better, steadily improve, and pray for the mercy we need to become more and more like Jesus Christ.
As adopted children of the Most High, we understand God’s nature, His masterful ability to chisel a Holy vessel out of a broken sinner and the purpose in all of…

“If [the People] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, Judges, and Governors, shall all become wolves.” —Thomas Jefferson, letter to Edward Carrington, 1787

Is the Firearm Background Check System Broken?

After last Thursday’s Lafayette theater shooting, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal called on the nation to bolster background checks for anyone seeking to purchase a firearm. “I think every state should strengthen their laws,” the Republican presidential candidate said. “Every state should make sure this information is being reported in the background system. We need to make sure that background system is working. Absolutely, in this instance, this man never should have been able to buy a gun.” John Houser cleared his background check when he bought a .40-caliber High-Point handgun from an Alabama pawn shop. But this was after Houser was denied a concealed cary permit in 2006 after he was charged with domestic violence and soliciting arson. It was also after his family committed him involuntarily for psychiatric care in Georgia in 2008. Jindal continued, “In Louisiana, we toughened our laws a couple of years ago. If he had been involuntarily committed here, if he had tried to buy that gun here, he wouldn’t have been allowed to do that.” While Jindal used the inexact phrase “strengthen their laws,” his view is similar to that of Nick Leghorn at The Truth About Guns blog, as both of them believe the current system is broken and must be fixed. Houser likely lied about his history of mental illness on ATF Form 4473, but that lie should have been caught. The system failed because of human error, like it did before the Charleston shooting.

DOJ Limits Inspectors General

The Most Transparent Administration in History™ decided that “privacy” is more important than allowing the independent inspectors general to do their jobs. The Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Council issued an opinion declaring the organizations within the federal government designed to ferret out waste, fraud and corruption must seek permission from the head of the agency before collecting “statutorily protected information,” like grand jury or wiretap information. “In reaching these conclusions,” the opinion read, “our Office’s role has not been to decide what access [inspectors general] should receive as a matter of policy. Rather, we have endeavored to determine as a matter of law, using established tools of statutory construction, how best to reconcile the strong privacy protections … with the interest in access reflected in … the IG Act.” There has been bipartisan condemnation from Congress regarding DOJ’s decision, saying that the Obama administration has played verbal gymnastics over a statute that was intended to be plainly read. Think a cabinet member will be beholden more to the bureaucracy than an independent review? It already happened under Eric Holder’s DOJ when the inspectors general tried to investigate the Fast and Furious gun walking scandal.

CT Dems Remove Jefferson and Jackson From Fundraiser

The leaders of the Democrat Party in Connecticut voted unanimously to remove the names of Andrew Jackson and Thomas Jefferson from an annual fundraiser. At the behest of the NAACP, the enlightend progressives in the Nutmeg State decided to scrub all mention of the two founders of the Democrat Party because Jefferson owned slaves and Jackson instigated the Trail of Tears. Nick Balletto, the recently elected chair of the state party, said, “I see it as the right thing to do. I wasn’t looking to be a trailblazer or set off a trend that’s going to affect the rest of the country. Hopefully, they’ll follow suit when they see it’s the right thing to do.” As pundit Dan McLaughlin notes, this is also the party of Franklin Roosevelt, the man who signed off on the Japanese internment, and Woodrow Wilson, the anti-Semite who segregated the federal government. Under Barack Obama’s leadership, race relations are in the tank, as The New York Times reports about 60% of Americans think race relations are generally poor — down from the two-thirds of Americans who thought race relations were good when Obama first entered office. Thanks Obama. So what’s the solution? For the enlightened leftist Nutmeggers, the first step is erasing their party’s history and denying that their intellectual forbearers had anything to do with where the country is today.

Pantsuit on Fire — Hillary’s Busted, but Is She Caught?

By Robin Smith

2015-07-27-9256612b_large.jpg

Could it be? Could the downfall of the Clinton Crime Family, a political machine that makes Boss Tweed’s Tammany Hall corruption of the late 19th century look like a middle school 4-H club, finally be near?

“I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email,” Hillary Clinton said of her secret servers in March. “There is no classified material. So I’m certainly well aware of the classification requirements and did not send classified material.”

But last week, I. Charles McCullough, inspector general of the intelligence community, contacted the FBI about a “potential compromise of classified information” through Clinton’s email. The IG found four instances where Clinton handled information labeled “secret” — classified information that he noted should “never have been transmitted via an unclassified personal system.” And that was out of a sample size of just 40 emails. Imagine what he’ll find in the rest of the 30,000 emails she didn’t already destroy.

In March, the nation discovered that Clinton used a personally owned email server housed in her New York residence to conduct official business on behalf of the State Department. At long last, after five months of curtailed information and growing controversy, it appears Hillary and Bill’s habits of disregarding the law might catch up with them. At least we hope so.

As The Wall Street Journal notes, “Other senior officials have faced criminal charges for misusing classified information. Former CIA Director David Petraeus pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor this year for disclosing classified information to his mistress, while Clinton-era National Security Adviser Sandy Berger copped a misdemeanor plea in 2005 for walking off with classified documents from the National Archives.” Or how about the sailor facing prison for taking photos of a U.S. submarine?

Could the same be in store for Hillary? Following the sputtering start of her campaign, investigatory hearings, and enough versions of events surrounding her email use to rival Baskin Robbins’ 31 flavors, have the Clintons finally been exposed as the corrupt, self-serving political hacks they are?

Throughout months of investigations, serving up whoppers seems like standard operations for Team Hillary:

  • The notion that the NY home-based server was to eliminate redundancy has been proven false.
  • Hillary’s assertion to have “fully complied” with the strenuous requirements of the State Department and intelligence community is embarrassingly laughable.
  • Her claim to have “turned over all” of her emails is a lie.
  • She also possessed multiple email addresses linked to the server, not just one singular account as originally stated — another lie.

This latest revelation may prove impossible for the American public and the loyal media presstitutes to ignore. But the lie followed the Clintons’ standard buffet-style approach to the truth: Pick and choose what you like; omit the rest. The inspector general announced some of the emails “were classified when they were sent and are classified now.”

Oops.

Hillary has been proven a liar. But in addition to her dishonesty, she also stands as a manipulative tyrant with incredibly poor judgment, one who believes in distinct Rules and Laws for Thee but Not for Me. And now the voting public, tired of the swill served out of DC, is rejecting her toxic brew.

Peter A. Brown, assistant director of a Quinnipiac University Poll conducted in June to survey Hillary’s trustworthiness, revealed that “Clinton’s numbers have dropped among voters in the key swing states of Colorado, Iowa, and Virginia. She has lost ground in the horserace and on key questions about her honesty and leadership.”

Tim Malloy, another assistant director of the Quinnipiac Poll, put it more succinctly: “Hillary Clinton’s numbers on honesty and trust may border on abysmal.”

Not only that, but she trails three GOP candidates in three key swing states. It’s early, so take that for what you will.

These negative polling numbers, with up to 62% of respondents questioning Clinton’s honesty, came several weeks prior to the newest twist in her email scandal. If only we had a Department of Justice rather than a nest of political legal activism, these wrongdoings would result in criminal charges and not just falling poll numbers.

Hillary dismissed the whole story, saying, “[T]here have been a lot of inaccuracies” in the news. You don’t say. She then suggested, “Maybe the heat is getting to everybody.” Let’s hope she does feel the heat.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Burt Prelutsky: “The truth is that Neville Chamberlain had a far better reason to sign his pact with Hitler than we have for capitulating to the Ayatollah. For one thing, Hitler hadn’t spent the previous twenty years killing Englishmen. For another, England couldn’t rely on America, which was in the clutches of pacifists and the German-American Bund, and he certainly couldn’t count on France, which had anti-Semitism in common with Hitler and nothing in common with England. For his part, Obama’s role model is obviously Humpty Dumpty, who told Alice that words meant whatever he wanted them to mean. President Dumpty forges a treaty with Iran, but insists it isn’t really a treaty, because that makes it easier for him to bully the Senate into compliance. In Obama’s world, treaties aren’t treaties; and, as we’ve seen with Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, traitors aren’t traitors; and as we saw in Baltimore and Ferguson, thugs aren’t thugs and mobs aren’t mobs. It took Pearl Harbor before the majority of Americans came to their senses in 1941. I hate to think what it will take to wake up Americans these days, but I fear it will be something like the incineration of Tel Aviv.”

SHORT CUTS

The Gipper: “How can we not believe in the greatness of America? How can we not do what is right and needed to preserve this last best hope of man on Earth? After all our struggles to restore America, to revive confidence in our country, hope for our future — after all our hard-won victories earned though the patience and courage of every citizen — we cannot, must not and will not turn back.”

Defending gruesome: “This has been a three-year, well-funded effort by the most militant wing of the anti-abortion movement of this country to entrap doctors. They were completely unsuccessful, so now they’re using very highly edited videos, sensationalized videos, to try to impugn and smear the name of Planned Parenthood. They have zero credibility. … These militant anti-abortion activists do nothing to improve the health and safety of women.” —Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood

Defending gruesome II: “It is unfortunate that Planned Parenthood has been the object of such a concerted attack for so many years and it’s really an attack against a woman’s right to choose. I’m hoping this situation will not further undermine the very important services that Planned Parenthood provides across the country.” —Hillary Clinton

Non Compos Mentis: “Being female is a wound that never heals.” —Salon’s Sonia Saraiya

The BIG Lie: “[Capitalism] needs to be reinvented, it needs to be put back into balance.” —Hillary Clinton (Capitalism already has been reinvented, courtesy of Democrats, and that’s exactly the problem.)

Village Idiots: “I’m just a grandmother with two eyes and a brain. And I know what’s happening in the world is going to have a big effect on my daughter and especially on my granddaughter. It’s hard to believe there are people running for president who still refuse to accept the settled science of climate change — who would rather remind us they’re not scientists than listen to those who are.” —Hillary Clinton

And last… “Global warming experts are saying that sea levels could rise 20 feet. Apparently their strategy for surviving this is to stand on top of a pile of government research grant money.” —Fred Thompson

Obama slams Huckabee for invoking Holocaust in his criticism of Iran deal

Huckabee has come under fire from both Jewish groups and the Democratic party after making the comparison between the Holocaust and the Iran deal. However the Republican presidential candidate refused to back down, continuing to make his case against the Iran deal on Twitter. He tweeted a series of messages Sunday with quotes from Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in which they threaten Israel with a holocaust.

US President Barack Obama on Monday condemned rhetoric about the Iran deal from leading members of the Republican party, including GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, who has drawn criticism for comparing the accord to the Holocaust.

Huckabee called Barack Obama “feckless” and “naive” in an interview with Breitbart News on Saturday, adding that by signing the deal the President “will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

Speaking at a press conference in Ethiopia on Monday, Obama said that such “outrageous attacks” have become “all too commonplace” among Republican politicians.

The US president described Huckabee’s comments as “part of just a general pattern we have seen that would be considered ridiculous if it weren’t so sad.”

One could easily get the impression from Kerry that Israel, not Iran, is the big threat to Middle East stability.

Iran is run by fundamentalist, apocalyptic mullahs who have no qualms about using violence to promote their expansionist designs throughout the Middle East, from Syria and Lebanon to Iraq and Yemen. The regime persecutes its own people, dealing out death sentences to homosexuals, oppressing religious minorities such as the Baha’is and incarcerating journalists, including Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian.

US President Barack Obama openly admits that the Islamic Republic is anti-Semitic and promotes terrorism around the world. He is well aware that Iran’s leaders regularly call for the destruction of the US and Israel. One of them is Qassem Suleimani, head of the Quds Force, the Revolutionary Guards expeditionary unit, who is responsible for exporting Iranian terrorism and training Shi’ite forces that killed US military personnel in Iraq. Another is Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who during a recent rally in Tehran again praised his people for calling for the demise of the US and Israel.

Yet it is Israel that US Secretary of State John Kerry is threatening, for daring to try to protect itself from the existential threat presented by the Islamic Republic’s warmongering leaders.

In two appearances last week, he warned Israel that it would be blamed if it dared to act against Iran.

As in the Days of Noah: Democrats Push Congress for LGBT Bill That Critics Say Would Limit Religious Freedom

Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., is sponsoring the Equality Act, which would expand protections against discrimination to members of the LGBT community.

LGBT groups and their allies in Congress are pushing for a sweeping piece of legislation that if enacted would, according to critics, limit religious freedom in the United States.

Known as the Equality Act, the bill would add the classifications of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, as well as expand the level of businesses that must adhere to the Act.

Congressman David N. Cicilline, a Rhode Island Democrat who is an openly gay member of Congress, introduced the anti-discrimination legislation last Thursday.

“In most states, you can get married on Saturday, post your wedding photos to Facebook on Sunday, and then get fired on Monday just because of who you are. This is completely wrong,” stated Rep. Cicilline.

“Fairness and equality are core American values. No American citizen should ever have to live their lives in fear of discrimination.”

Joining Cicilline are over 160 House cosponsors, including House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, and Congressman John Lewis.

Asia Implosion Continues: China stocks tumble, suffer biggest one-day loss in eight years

The word “cascade” comes to mind. China is the world’s second largest economy. The continued crash has real implications for the rest of the world economically and probably politically. The Stock Market Will Start To Fall In July? The Dow Plummeted More Than 500 Points Last Week

Falling - Public DomainWas last week a preview of things to come? There are quite a few people out there that believe that the stock market would begin to decline in July, and that appears to be precisely what is happening. Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by more than 530 points. It was the biggest one week decline that we have seen so far in 2015, and some are suggesting that this could only be just the beginning. By just about any measurement that you might want to use, the stock market is overvalued. But we have been in this bubble for so long that many people have come to believe that this is “the new normal”. In fact, earlier today someone that I know dropped me a line and suggested that our financial overlords may be able to use the tools at their disposal to get this current bubble to persist indefinitely. Unfortunately, the truth is that no financial bubble ever lasts forever, and right now some very alarming things are starting to happen behind the scenes. Over the past couple of weeks, the smart money has been dumping stocks like crazy, and the lack of liquidity in the bond markets is beginning to become acute.  Could it be possible that another great financial crisis is just around the corner? The Persecution Of Christians Is Intensifying As Anti-Christian Hatred Sweeps The Entire World

Earth Space Planet World - Public DomainThere is very little that the entire world seems to agree upon, but there is one very frightening trend that is now taking hold literally all over the globe. A passionate hatred of Christianity is sweeping across the planet, and very few global leaders have been willing to step forward and speak out against this rising persecution of Christians. In many parts of the Middle East, Africa and Asia, believers are being relentlessly attacked by extremists, churches are being destroyed, and laws are being passed to try to prevent the spread of the Christian faith. In some areas, the violence has become so extreme that Christians knowingly risk their own lives just to go to church services each week. Would you risk your life to go to church? In North America and Europe, the persecution is often more subtle. Even though violent attacks are still fairly rare, Christian beliefs are being undermined by new laws, comedians and television shows regularly mock the Christian faith, and many employers will immediately mentally disqualify a potential candidate for a job if they discover that an individual is a Bible-believing Christian. Sadly, this is just the beginning. In the years ahead, those that choose to be followers of Jesus Christ will face even greater persecution than we have seen already. (Read More…)

So the U.S. will help Iran fight…Israel? – Markell

“Now it is official because I think personally America has just become Israel’s number one enemy,” she says. “And I didn’t think I’d live to see that.”

State Obamacare Exchanges Struggling With High Costs and Disappointing Enrollment

According to CNS News:

State-run health insurance markets that offer coverage under President Barack Obama’s health law are struggling with high costs and disappointing enrollment. These challenges could lead more of them to turn over operations to the federal government or join forces with other states.

Hawaii’s marketplace, the latest cautionary tale, was awarded $205 million in federal startup grants. It has spent about $139 million and enrolled 8,200 customers for individual coverage in 2015. Unable to sustain itself, the state marketplace is turning over sign-ups to the federal HealthCare.gov for 2016.

Musk, Hawking warn of “inevitable” killer robot arms race

Wired reports:

A global robotic arms race “is virtually inevitable” unless a ban is imposed on autonomous weapons, Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk and 1,000 academics, researchers and public figures have warned.

In an open letter presented at the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Buenos Aries, the Future of Life Institute signatories caution that “starting a military AI arms race is a bad idea, and should be prevented by a ban on offensive autonomous weapons beyond meaningful human control”.

Although the letter, first reported by the Guardian, notes that “we believe that AI has great potential to benefit humanity in many ways, and that the goal of the field should be to do so”, it concludes that “this technological trajectory is obvious: autonomous weapons will become the Kalashnikovs of tomorrow”.

California AG to review group behind Planned Parenthood videos

Fox News has this report:

California Attorney General Kamala Harris announced Friday she plans to review two undercover videos released by anti-abortion activists aimed at discrediting Planned Parenthood’s procedures for providing fetal tissue to researchers to see if any law was broken in the filming.

Harris made the announcement in a letter to four Democratic members of Congress who had requested the investigation, saying she’ll use her office’s authority to regulate charity organizations to see if the organization that made the videos violated registration or reporting requirements, or broke any other rules.

Baphomet Statue Unveiled in Detroit to Shouts of “Hail Satan,” Satanist Men Kissing

According to Christian News Network:

At least 100 people attended the unveiling of a Satanic statue depicting Baphomet being flanked by children on Saturday—a statue that was originally intended to be placed at the Oklahoma state capitol and now may be the subject of an effort to erect it next to a Ten Commandments monument in Arkansas.

As previously reported, the New York-based Satanic Temple had scheduled the unveiling for July 25th in Detroit, Michigan. The group says that it chose Detroit because it has a “good community” of followers, with over 200 members, billing the event as “a night of chaos, noise, and debauchery.”

“Come dance with the Devil and experience history in the making,” its invitation read.

Obama Pledges to Use Last 18 Months in Office Pushing Gun Control

Posted: 27 Jul 2015 05:11 AM PDT

President Obama on Thursday pledged to use his last 18 months in office to work on gun control, calling it “the one area where I feel that I’ve been most frustrated and most stymied.” “If you ask me where has been the one area where I feel that I’ve been most frustrated and most stymied, it is the fact that the United States of America is the one advanced nation on earth in which we do not have sufficient, common-sense gun safety laws – even in the face of repeated mass killings,” he told the BBC in an interview.

“And if you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it’s less than 100. If you look at the number that have been killed by gun violence, it’s in the tens of thousands,” Obama continued. “For us not to be able to resolve that issue has been something that is distressing, but it is not something that I intend to stop working on in the remaining 18 months.” MORE

The Persecution Of Christians Is Intensifying As Anti-Christian Hatred Sweeps The Entire World

Posted: 27 Jul 2015 05:07 AM PDT

There is very little that the entire world seems to agree upon, but there is one very frightening trend that is now taking hold literally all over the globe.

MORE

More green cards issued in year than entire population of original 13 colonies

Posted: 27 Jul 2015 04:58 AM PDT

A remarkable transformation is underway in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The birthplace and final resting place of George Washington, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson—and once one of the most reliably-red of red states—is being rapidly turned into a progressive stronghold. These changes are not the result of an inside agency, or a natural evolution in political thinking, but rather the result of one of the most impactful yet least-discussed policies of the federal government.

Each year the federal government prints millions of visas and distributes these admission tickets to the poorest and least-developed nations in the world. A middle-aged person living in parts of Virginia today will have witnessed more demographic change in the span of her life than many societies have experienced in millennia. Architectural Plans For Third Temple Have Begun!

Posted: 26 Jul 2015 05:51 PM PDT

Today, on the Fast of Av, Jews throughout the world mourn the destruction of the two Holy Temples of Jerusalem and pray for the rebuilding of the Third Temple. But one organization has been doing a lot more than just praying. The Temple Institute has released a modern three-dimensional architectural rendition of the future Third Holy Temple, utilizing the latest building material and techniques.

The vivid, three-minute video walks viewers through the main sanctuary, showcasing decades of research and tens of innovative Halakhic (Jewish law) solutions to various perplexing issues that were resolved to create fully functional, ready-to-use plans.
While staying true to the Halakhic requirements and dimensions, the project also adds some clear modern twists. SOURCE

Obama To Force Charities To Promote Abortion Or Lose Funding

Posted: 26 Jul 2015 04:22 PM PDT

Religious and other pro-life charity organizations that aid sex trafficking victims will longer be awarded federal grants if they are unable to offer abortion counseling services due to religious convictions come this fall after the Obama administration passed a new Department of Health and Human Services grant requirement last month. According to the Washington Examiner, a change to HHS guidelines passed in June explains that the department is now disqualifying aid organizations that do not offer “the full range of legally permissible gynecological and obstetric care,”

which also includes abortion counseling and referrals. The report adds that groups that refuse to offer abortion counseling services to trafficking victims have the option to ensure that abortion counseling is provided through a third-party in order to remain eligible for the grant funding. Pro-life opponents of the new guidelines say this is just another instance in which the Obama administration is trying to force abortion at the cost of women in dire need of assistance. Copper, China And World Trade Are All Screaming That The Next Economic Crisis Is Here

Posted: 26 Jul 2015 04:14 PM PDT

If you are looking for a “canary in a coal mine” type of warning for the entire global economy, you have a whole bunch to pick from right now. “Dr. Copper” just hit a six year low, Morgan Stanley is warning that this could be the worst oil price crash in 45 years, the Chinese economy is suddenly stalling out, and world trade is falling at the fastest pace that we have seen since the last financial crisis. In order not to see all of the signs that are pointing toward a global economic slowdown, you would have to be willingly blind. In recent months,

I have been writing article after article detailing how the exact same patterns that happened just before the stock market crash of 2008 are playing out once again. We are watching a slow-motion train wreck unfold right before our eyes, and things are only going to get worse from here. Copper is referred to as “Dr. Copper” because it does such an excellent job of indicating where economic conditions are heading next. We saw this in 2008, when the price of copper started crashing big time in the months leading up to the stock market implosion. MORE

Obama Jokes About Birth Certificate During Kenya Visit

Posted: 26 Jul 2015 04:05 PM PDT

U.S. president Barack Obama attended a state dinner in his honor in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday (July 25). He made jokes about his birth certificate in his father’s homeland. “I suspect that some of my critics back home are suggesting that I’m back here to look for my birth certificate. That is not the case,” Obama quipped as the room broke out in laughter and applause.

Obama made his birth certificate public in 2011 after opponents questioned his birthplace and eligibility to be president, claiming he was not a U.S. citizen. The certificate lists Honolulu, Hawaii, as his place of birth. MORE

Documents Prove That the IRS Targeted Conservative Groups

Posted: 26 Jul 2015 03:55 PM PDT

It’s been a rough week for the IRS. On Monday it was revealed that during the last tax season, the IRS phone system hung up on 8.8 million callers looking for help with their taxes, a massive increase from the half a million hangups that were experienced the year before. The IRS is also being criticized for levying outrageous fines on businesses that reimburse their employees for health insurance; fines that are 12 times higher than the statutory limit written in the Affordable Care Act.

But the latest news on a long running IRS scandal takes the cake. Judicial Watch announced earlier this week, that they had obtained documents that prove the IRS used donor lists of tax exempt organizations to target them with audits. These were largely conservative organizations opposed to the Obama administration. The IRS attempted to issue a “gift tax” of 35% on some of these donors, despite the fact that a gift tax on donations was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, and hasn’t been used since 1982. While many of these organizations are hardly saints, (the documents show that Crossroads GPS was targeted, an organizations that is associated with establishment heavyweight, Karl Rove) this scandal reveals the awful truth about our government. Mideast expert: Israel forced to consider attack on Iran

Posted: 26 Jul 2015 03:43 PM PDT

The nuclear agreement with Iran leaves Israel with little alternative but to launch a military attack against the Islamic regime’s nuclear facilities, a leading Middle East expert says in a report in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin. “Assuming the (agreement) goes through the U.S. government and the U.N. Security Council, it’s hard to see what the Israelis can do to protect themselves other than attack the Iranian facilities,” said Middle East Forum president Daniel Pipes in an interview with G2. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been outspoken in his opposition to the agreement.

Pipes, a historian, writer and political commentator, said that he sees such an attack as “the next stage” and suggests Israel could receive the assistance of Saudi Arabia. “The now-open relationship between Riyadh and Jerusalem makes the prospect of Saudi assistance less far-fetched than it once was,” Pipes said  He added that “leaks of Saudi documents shows how preoccupied the leadership is with the Iranian threat.” MORE

“My Last Day” — the Jesus Anime

9 powerful minutes of animation that begins with a thief behind bars watching the scourging of Jesus, and it ends with the thief dying next to Jesus, and waking to see Him in a beautiful place.

The dying thief: What was so great about his faith?

There are many acts of extraordinary faith in the Bible. The one that has impressed me the most concerns the dying thief on the cross. We could take the approach that he had nothing to lose, so he decided to cast his lot with Jesus. But this makes absolutely no sense of the text and the context.
In this conversion we have a specific fulfillment of Christ’s first words on the cross. No sooner had Christ spoken the words, “Father, forgive them,” had the Father answered that prayer by turning a once-reviling criminal into a Christ-glorifying saint. While the soon-to-be converted criminal was not directly responsible for Christ’s death, he nevertheless joined with those who were and was thus indirectly addressed when Christ asked for God to forgive “them.”
Christ, the sinless one, was numbered with or counted among the transgressors (Isa. 53:12; Luke 22:37), all of whom have a bigger problem than the day-to-day sins they commit. They hate Christ, the God-man. Anyone who has a master other than the Lord Jesus hates him (Lk. 16:13; Gal. 4:8). That these two criminals loathed him is clearly manifested during the crucifixion: “And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way” (Matt. 27:44).
When the criminal who was converted was doing his worst against Christ, Christ was doing his best for this criminal.
The conversion of the one criminal was most extraordinary and testifies to the power of Christ’s prayer and the grace of God. Why?
This criminal’s faith did not come at a time such as when Christ turned water into wine; or performed miracles, such as walking on water, opening the eyes of a blind man, or raising Lazarus from the dead. No! The criminal believed on the Messiah while he was hanging as one cursed upon a tree. The criminal trusted in and boldly defended the one whose disciples had abandoned him. Jesus was at his lowest when this criminal asked to be remembered in Christ’s kingdom.
When he was on the cross, did anyone publicly cry out, as John the Baptist did, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn. 1:29)? But this is essentially what the dying thief did. Little wonder, then, that Christ should promise him a place in his kingdom: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (Lk. 23:43).
The criminal acknowledged he was guilty; he acknowledged that Christ was not (“this man has done nothing wrong”); he feared God; but, and here is the key: the criminal did not merely want to be in a better place. He wanted to be with Christ in a better place: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Lk. 23:42). The criminal believed “against all hope”.
Heaven is a better place because that is where Christ is. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but not everyone wants to go to Christ’s heaven. Not so with this criminal: he saw, with his eyes, Christ at his worst; but with the eyes of faith, he believed that Christ would soon be at his best, and so put his faith in a dying king.
Christ is always – always! – willing to save even the most miserable of sinners. A recognition of guilt (Lk. 23:40) and a confidence in him and not ourselves (Lk. 23:42) will always lead to the most assuring truth a sinner can receive: the Savior welcomes such into his paradise!
“One is saved, and we may not despair; the other is lost, and we may not presume.” Spurgeon

Black Christians, Personhood, And Planned Parenthood

When it comes to personhood, Planned Parenthood occupies a “special place” in the life and history of the African American community. In its infancy, Planned Parenthood serviced many urban communities. It’s still true today, where well over 75% of its clinics are found in minority neighborhoods. On average, over 1,000 Black babies are aborted every day in America. Black women have a higher abortion rate than any other ethnic group in America. More Black babies are aborted than any other cause of death in America. According to CDC statistics, since 1973,2.26 million blacks have died from heart disease. A conservative estimate on the number of black babies aborted since that time is around 12 million.

The Australian Sodomy Party

While the Australian Greens probably already own the title of being the sodomy party, the recent Federal Labor Party conference established Labor as worthy recipients of this [dis]honour as well. Instead of dealing with vital concerns like health and education and national defence, the Labor Party spend a huge amount of time on sodomite marriage.

This tells us all we need to know about their priorities. And their morality, or lack thereof. This is the party which thinks that two per cent of the population should be allowed to destroy the institution of marriage, and they think they are somehow the party of the working class. Go figure.

labor 3Of course the Labor Party has been heading down the tubes for decades now. Recall the powerful words of Kim Beazley Sr at the WA Labor state conference in 1970, in which he blasted his comrades for their politically correct madness:

8 Reasons Why Loving Money is so Dangerous

Having dealt with the roles and relationships of men and women, elders and deacons, employers and employees, in 1 Timothy 6v9-10 the Apostle Paul addresses with the Christian’s relationship with money and issues eight warnings about why we should not turn it into an idol.

“(9) But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. (10) For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

1. It tempts (v. 9): Loving money makes us do wrong things in order to get more of it.

2. It traps (v. 9): The love of money gets a grip on us, it won’t let go, and becomes obsessional.

3. It stimulates lust (v. 9): It produces multiple other sinful desires and provides opportunity for their fulfillment.

4. It harms (v. 9): The lusts themselves injure the luster, and what they result in does even more harm.

5. It destroys (v. 9): It sucks the oxygen out of life, slowly killing us as it sinks us to the depths of perdition.

6. It diverts (v. 10): Some wrong turns are not too dangerous, but the love of money produces a fatal diversion that leads away from the faith.

7. It depresses (v. 10): Money love produces soul pain and soul sadness.

8. It ends (v. 7): We brought nothing in and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

Your Work Matters to God

Your work matters to God.

Many people in the church suffer from a messed up, incomplete, or even harmful theology of work. Too often, we pastors have spent all of our time talking about the hours people are not working. But the reality is that most people spend most of their time working. That’s why we need to see what the Bible says about vocation.

So what does the Bible say? Genesis 1 and 3 give us five key observations about God’s view of work.

Legalism: Its Three Basic Forms

It’s time for our “Ism Monday” and today I would like to speak of one of the darker isms we will ever deal with. It is not so much a philosophical ism, nor a political ism, but rather a theological ism. I would like us to consider today legalism. And I want to suggest that legalism has at least three different definitions.

No Platform High Enough

No Platform High EnoughWhen it is platform you crave, when it is the size or the popularity of your following that you use as the measure of your success, you will inevitably and eventually find that there is no platform high enough. No success will ever perfectly fulfill your ambitions.

When it is recognition that you are after, affirmation of your hard work, affirmation of your skills or wisdom or contributions, there can be no reward fulfilling enough. There will always be one more acknowledgment you want and one more you are sure you need.

When it is the size of your congregation that motivates your actions and serves as your goal, not even a megachurch will satisfy. There is no church big enough. Even if the church is packed to the rafters, and even if it expands to campuses around the city or state, you will remain unfulfilled.

When it is money that motivates and money that promises joy, your satisfaction in money will only ever be hollow. If joy promises that it is just a salary increase away, you will find that joy remains forever just out of reach. There is no wealth great enough. You will always crave just a little bit more.

When it is the CEO’s office that promises completion and fulfillment, when it is the top job at the top firm, no job title will satisfy. There is no position and no compensation package grand enough to satisfy your desire for joy.

When it is possessions that holds out the promise of joy, you will find that even the most stuff and the nicest stuff fails to bring satisfaction. You can fill your home, your basement, your garage, your storage unit with the best stuff money can buy, but the ache inside will not go away.

When it is conference invitations you want, there will never be a conference big enough. There will never be a crowd large enough. There will never be a fanbase adoring enough. There will never be a location distant enough. Satisfaction will remain frustratingly elusive.

When it is book sales that drive your ambitions and promise joy, there will never be a book that sells well enough. Even a runaway bestseller and a round of morning talk show invites will leave you feeling hollow.

When it is sexual satisfaction that promises true fulfillment, no lover will fulfill. No succession of lovers will fulfill. Each episode and each person will only increase your desire for what you cannot find. There is no sexual pleasure fulfilling enough.

No matter your goal, no matter your god, it will not and cannot bring lasting satisfaction. In this world, God’s world, these kinds of desires were never meant to bring ultimate satisfaction. Rather, all the pleasures of this world are meant to be subordinate, to point beyond themselves to the satisfaction that is found in God. The deepest joy this world offers, and the only lasting joy this world offers, is the joy that comes from seeking his kingdom instead of your own.

14 Verses for the Spiritual Battle

Spiritual warfare is a reality of life. If you are a leader of Christ’s church, you have a bullseye on your back. If you’re in a battle today, let these texts give you strength.

1. Genesis 3:14-15  Then the Lord God said to the serpent:  . . . I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.

It was God Himself who put the enmity — the hostility — between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman; thus, He must have a purpose for the battle.

2. Exodus 15:3  The Lord is a warrior; Yahweh is His name.

It’s really quite simple: God is our warrior. And He does not lose. Period.

3. 1 Samuel 17:47  . . . and this whole assembly will know that it is not by sword or by spear that the Lord saves, for the battle is the Lord’s. He will hand you over to us.

David got it right. The battle is God’s, and He delivers according to His own plans.

4. 2 Kings 6:16  Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us outnumber those who are with them.”

God’s forces may be unseen, but they are not unaware or unavailable. The size of the Enemy’s forces need not worry us.

5. 2 Chronicles 20:15  This is what the Lord says: “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast number, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

Jahaziel spoke truth. If the battle is the Lord’s, we do not need to be afraid or discouraged.

6. Job 1:9  Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven’t You placed a hedge around him, his household, and everything he owns?”

Even when God gives the enemy permission to attack us, Satan knows he cannot go beyond God’s protection. The Enemy knows about God’s hedges.

7. Matthew 4:10-11  Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only Him.” Then the Devil left Him.

That’s the way it works: Jesus says, “Get away,” and the devil flees. He has to.

8. Mark 1:23  Just then a man with an unclean spirit was in their synagogue. He cried out, “What do You have to do with us, Jesus—Nazarene? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

The demons know who Jesus is. He’s the Holy One who has come to destroy them.

9. Luke 22:31-32  “Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail.”

Not only must Satan get permission to sift us, but the same Jesus who gives him permission to attack us is the One who prays us through the conflict. He never leaves us alone.

10. Romans 16:20   The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

The God who gives us peace is also the God who defeats the Enemy in the battle. God will keep His Word of Genesis 3:15 — Satan will not win.

11. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10  Therefore, so that I would not exalt myself, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to torment me . . . . For when I am weak, then I am strong.

The Enemy’s attacks may weaken us, but in God’s plan we defeat him by our weakness – not by our strength. “God, make me weak” is, in God’s economy, a prayer for victory.

12. Ephesians 6:10-11  Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. Put on the full armor of God.

The strength we do have is God’s strength. The armor we wear is God’s armor. Victory in warfare is never about us — and that’s a good thing.

13. 1 John 4:4  . . . the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

God lives in us. That’s amazing. That’s also our guarantee of victory.

14. Revelation 12:11  They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not love their lives in the face of death.

Even if we die in the battle, we still win.

When we get that truth right, the enemy can’t hurt us anymore.

The Daily Discovery (July 27, 2015)

Believing What We Cannot Comprehend – “If anything be but in the Bible, I never for a single moment think of questioning it. Miracles? Strong historical statements? I believe them all; I can almost go as far as the old woman who said that she not only believed that the whale swallowed Jonah, but that, if the Bible had said that Jonah swallowed the whale, she would have believed it. It says nothing of the kind, but I would go even to that length if it were a clear, positive statement of the Scriptures.”

How’s That Pagan “Conservatism” Workin’ Out For Ya, Christian? – “Will we be ruled by Christ the King’s clear and detailed life- and civilization-sustaining standard as lovingly revealed in His perfect Word?  Or will we instead insist on being ruled by the man-centered, mankind-enslaving will and words of men?”

Craig Groeschel – God is Knocking on Your Heart’s Door – “Did you know that God is standing at the door of the unbelieving heart and knocking away, just waiting for that heart to answer and open? Did you know that God is begging and pleading with you to ‘please, please, please, please, let Me in!’  Is that really what’s happening? Craig Groeschel at Lifechurch.tv thinks so.  And is it really as simple as opening up your heart to let God in? Is that the gospel? That’s what Craig says in this video. But what about turning from sin, and taking up your cross, and faith in Jesus Christ alone?”

Coming to Jesus in unbelief – “The ‘after the two days’ refers to the two days Jesus and His disciples spent in Sychar of Samaria ministering to the people there. The statement by our Lord about a prophet not having honor in his own country contrasts the believing response of the Samaritans with the unbelief of our Lord’s own people in Galilee and Judea. The Jews reticent faith depended on our Lord’s performance of miracles while all He did in Samaria was preach the truth. The Samaritans responded, but the Jews were not open to Him, but more often than not, exhibited reluctance and hardness. In my translation, the verb ‘received’ from v45 is ἐδέξαντο the 3rd person, Aorist tense, Indicative mood, Middle voice case of δέχομαι or dechomai, ‘essentially means to receive something, but it can also mean to welcome someone.’”

Integrity and Personal Holiness – “Do you sometimes struggle to tell the difference between the church and the world? The church is now so adept at compromising with the world that it has forgotten how to be uncompromising. Many modern churchgoers have let the culture influence and corrupt their values, tastes, and practices—blurring the lines between sin and righteousness, and the clarity of God’s truth.”

Does the Bible say anything about sleep habits?

David Roach:

Americans aren’t getting enough shut-eye. That’s the conclusion of a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which found that nearly nine million Americans take prescription sleeping pills and such prescriptions have tripled for people between 18 and 24. Of course, occasional sleepless nights are normal for nearly everyone and sometimes insomnia is caused by uncontrollable factors like physical pain or nightmares. But can a lack of sleep indicate a spiritual problem? Does the Bible say anything to guide us in our sleep patterns? You might be surprised to learn that the answer is yes to both questions.

3 Ways to Grow in Faith

Mike Leake:

Just as in any relationship our communion is often in direct proportion to our faith and love. If I sin against you our relationship is going to be harmed. Likewise, if I feel slighted by you then it will impact the way we relate to one another. How much worse does a human relationship get if one person loses trust in the other one? In the same way—our lively experience of the Lord is often in proportion to our faith.

So how do we grow in our faith?

How We Became Too Busy For Friends

Pam Lau:

Too many of today’s friendships—both inside and outside of the church—suffer from fragmentation and superficiality. That is, we are too scattered to commit knowing and caring for a person deeply. Instead, we settle for friends who are merely familiar faces for extended small talk. Perhaps it’s because we are afraid of the intimacy or have been burned by bad relationships in the past. Or perhaps it’s because this is the kind of relationship we see modeled and expected in our neighborhoods, schools, and small groups. Dr. Daniel J Siegel, a neuropsychiatrist, advises that little bit of empathy goes a long way. He believes in what he calls mindsight—a new approach to relationships that teaches the skills of reflection, relationships, and resilience.

We Want Explanation; God Gives Revelation

John Calvin’s favorite Bible verse was Deuteronomy 29:29: “The secret things belong to the Lord our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and our children forever.” That truth bothers a lot of people (it used to really bother me), because it means that there are things that God hasn’t revealed to us—things that he might never reveal to us.

Many people simply can’t accept a God that they can’t fully explain. It’s the heart behind most skeptics’ questions: How can there be a God with all the evil in the world? If God is real, what about _____? The questions vary, but the heart is the same: when it comes to God, we often demand explanation.

I used to be the same way. In many ways, I still am. I don’t like the unexplained. But I just can’t ignore how often Scripture shows us that when we demand explanation, God gives revelation.

07/27/15 Weeping over the Nations

READING: Isaiah 44-48

TEXTS AND APPLICATION: I think today about the billions of people around the world who worship idols. While we in North America often worship our own types of idols, I think particularly about those who still form idols by their own hands and then bow before them. What seems almost silly to us is a matter of life and death to so many who do not know Jesus.

Today’s readings in Isaiah often compare the true God of Israel with the false gods of idolatry. Note these comparisons:

  • The idolators made their own idols (Isa. 44:9-17), but God formed His own people (Isa. 44:21).
  • The makers of idols will be humiliated (Isa. 45:16), but God’s people will not be put to shame (Isa. 45:17).
  • Idolators pray to false gods who cannot save them (Isa. 44:17, 45:20), but God alone is the righteous God and Savior (Isa. 45:21b).
  • Idolators bow before idols they shaped with their own hammers (Isa. 44:12) and can carry in their own hands (Isa. 45:20), but God is the creator of the heavens (Isa. 45:18) whose own hand founded the earth (Isa. 48:13).
  • Idolators carry their idols, and the same idols are a burden to the animals that must transport them (Isa. 46:1-2); God, on the other hand, carries His own people and bears the burden for them (Isa. 46:3-4).
  • Idols cannot tell the future (Isa. 44:2), cannot save (Isa. 45:20), cannot carry a burden (Isa. 46:2), and cannot answer prayer (Isa. 46:7); God announces the future (Isa. 48:5), saves His people (Isa. 44:22), bears their burdens (Isa. 46:4), and leads them in the way they should go (48:17).
  • Idols are only a block of wood (Isa. 19), but God is Yahweh the Creator (Isa. 44:24), the Holy One of Israel (Isa. 47:4), the righteous God and Savior (Isa. 45:21).
God is the only true God, and there is no other (repeated multiple times in Isa. 44:6, 44:8, 45:5-7, 45:14, 45:18, 45:21-22, 46:9, 48:11-12). Still, much of the world bows before their own creations, crying out to idols that cannot hear, and trusting powers that cannot save. We surely must grieve.

PRAYER: Pray that we would weep over the lostness of the world today — and be willing to do whatever it takes that the nations would know their Creator and Redeemer.

What is The Gospel?

GTY Blog: Integrity and Personal Holiness

by John MacArthur

Do you sometimes struggle to tell the difference between the church and the world? The church is now so adept at compromising with the world that it has forgotten how to be uncompromising. Many modern churchgoers have let the culture influence and corrupt their values, tastes, and practices—blurring the lines between sin and righteousness, and the clarity of God’s truth.

But mimicking and chasing the world is not God’s plan for His church. In fact, Scripture calls us to the opposite of compromise. From one end of the Bible to the other, God clearly commands His people to live apart from the world.

When God established Israel as a nation, He built into the Israelites’ daily lives the principle of separation from the world. The law and their religious observances throughout the year served as safeguards to prevent them, as a unique people (Deuteronomy 14:2), from intermingling with pagans.

Likewise, God calls all His people to be separate from the world (1 Peter 2:9)—not just for the sake of separation, but for the sake of our purity and the testimony of His truth. The Lord doesn’t compromise His Word, and we need to be just as uncompromisingly committed to it, too.

In the face of a world driven by compromise, believers must be people of integrity. We need to hold fast to the truth of Scripture and live lives that reinforce our testimonies—not call them into question.

Of course, the pressure to compromise comes from within and external pressures only manifest our inner weaknesses.

Clearly there is a direct correlation between integrity and biblical holiness. A consistently righteous life is the showcase of one’s integrity because it reveals your commitment to love and obey God. Through the Spirit’s ongoing work in your life, you’re evidencing the transforming power of God’s Word—your sanctification is a living testimony to God’s work in you, and a key aspect of His work through you in the lives of others.

Therefore, if we would be men and women of integrity, we must also be men and women of holiness. And that requires complete diligence and attentiveness toward all aspects of sanctification, including the vital area of personal holiness.

There are several key responsibilities all Christians must embrace to develop personal holiness. Over the coming days, we’re going to consider some of them, and how they affect the testimony of your life.

Enter Heaven Maimed

The Good Light Project

Jesus warns about the seriousness of sin in Matthew 5:27-30. God, who searches and knows the heart of man, reveals that even lusting after a woman is a form of adultery. Lust is such an abomination to God that Jesus says it is better to enter heaven maimed than to retain your whole body and be cast into hell.
But lust is just the beginning of the road that leads to destruction. Under God’s judgment beginning in Romans 1:24, we see the progression of sexual immorality where lust leads to the abuse of one’s body, to the abuse of other people’s bodies, to the debasing of God’s design for sex and marriage, to even inventing ways of doing evil. Abortion, rape, homosexual sin, pornography, sex trafficking, pedophilia, promiscuity – all the result of the heart’s lust. But before you think you’re off the hook, you too are on the path…

What are public schools teaching your kids about marriage and sexuality?

WINTERY KNIGHT

National Education Association National Education Association

This article from the radically leftist Washington Post unapologetically praises public school teachers for pushing their vision of sex and marriage onto children as young as four years old.

It says:

As young children develop their understanding of the world, they tend to rely heavily on binaries. If we understand the binaries a child is working within, we can encourage that child to think of counterexamples or introduce counterexamples ourselves into the conversation. These provide useful stumbling blocks that encourage them to expand their thinking.

[…]As the year unfolded, my students continued to play at themes of love and marriage. The conversations expanded and both kids and I were able to introduce new and different stumbling blocks: One can be in love and not get married, not all married people are moms or dads, and not all moms and dads are married. The conversations shifted based on…
