The Two-fold Aspect of God’s Kingdom (Witsius)

The Reformed Reader

Sacred Dissertations on the Lord's Prayer  In Reformed church history, theologians have generally made a distinction when it came to discussing God’s kingdom or kingdoms.  Simply put, historic Reformed theology distinguished between God’s general kingdom (his kingdom of power/nature) and God’s saving kingdom (his kingdom of grace/glory).  Here’s how Herman Witsius spoke about this distinction in his discussion on the second petition of the Lord’s Prayer: Thy kingdom come.

The kingdom of God must be viewed by us in a twofold aspect, as universal and as special. I use the phrase, universal kingdom, to express his boundless greatness, majesty, authority, and power over all. “The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.” This is the kingdom to which the sun with all the stars, the sea with her waves, the winds with all their tempestuous fury, the seasons of the year with their various changes, the alternate…

Senator Rand Paul has only missed two votes since the beginning of the year and Senator Bernie Sanders just six, Senator Marco Rubio has played hooky the most, missing 73 votes. Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham aren’t far behind with 59 and 58 missed votes respectively.

Iran Deal Worth More than All U.S. Aid to Israel Since 1948

Forget Trump And Bernie: Here’s Why Clinton Or Bush Will Be The Next President
Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are rising in the polls and seemingly pose a threat to the political establishment. In no way do Trump or Sanders threaten this control despite the corporate media’s fascination with them and polls that appear to show them gaining favor among potential voters.

THE FOUNDATION

“In proportion as the structure of a government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened.” —George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796

TOP RIGHT HOOKS

Revealing Evil, Take 3

The Center for Medical Progress had a good strategy: Capture and release undercover film of Planned Parenthood’s depravity, wait for the inevitable craven defense and denial, and then turn up the heat with subsequent video releases that show even more offensive material. The group’s third video release (with more to follow in the “Human Capital” series) is very graphic. It depicts, as feared, the dissected parts of an aborted baby, so viewers beware. A technician working with an 11-week-old aborted baby talks (and laughs) about getting $200-$300 per baby by charging more per organ or part specimen. Dr. Savita Ginde, vice president and medical director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, agrees: “I think a per-item thing works a little better,” she says, “just because we can see how much we can get out of it.” That’s hardly just a way to “break even,” as the Planned Parenthood doctor insisted in the first video. Never mind the abortion itself already costs a bundle. Clearly, money is the driving factor.

The video primarily features an interview with Holly O’Donnell, a former “procurement technician” at a fetal tissue company. She recounts how she fainted on the first day at work when she was instructed to dissect a newly aborted baby. “I thought I was going to be just drawing blood,” she said, “not procuring tissue from aborted fetuses.” She explained the profit motive: “The harder and more valuable the tissue, the more money you can get. If you can somehow procure a brain or a heart, you’re going to get more money. … I guess that’s an incentive to try and get the hard stuff — because they get more money.” She concludes, “It’s basically a huge trafficking of fetal tissues. … It’s a pretty sick company.” And the despicable people at Planned Parenthood have the gall to insist the only evil here is the “heavily edited” videos.

Boy Scout Board Decrees Homosexual Leaders Okay

The National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America voted 45-12 to allow openly homosexual adults to be troop leaders. While Monday’s decision leaves an exception for troops sponsored by religious organizations, homosexual activists are already saying they will challenge, erode and destroy the exception designed to respect religious conscience. Boy Scouts President (and former Defense Secretary) Robert Gates said, “For far too long this issue has divided and distracted us. Now it’s time to unite behind our shared belief in the extraordinary power of Scouting to be a force for good.” Since Gates took the helm of the BSA in May 2014, he’s personally supported rolling back the ban. In May, he called for changing the policy. Despite Gates’ assurances of unity, this top-down decree to the groups meeting in church basements and communities nationwide threatens to rend the organization. The Mormon Church said it’s consider splitting from BSA to create its own scouting organization. And Rev. Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist Convention said this decision will probably “freeze” the relationship between Southern Baptists and the BSA. Gates brought his political agenda to the BSA, and, as a result, religious liberty is being threatened and the BSA is cheapened. Furthermore, the change is the net effect of having a bunch of wealthy corporate guys fighting for advertising dollars leading the board of a national grassroots organization. There’s clearly a huge disconnect between the political agenda of the board and the culture of Boy Scout troops.

Dems’ Economic Policies Will Hurt Those They Claim to Help

Democrats are bickering over how high to raise the minimum wage, even though doing so would hurt constituencies the party claims to represent. Democrats all agree the minimum wage must be raised. The party’s establishment politicians — Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi — propose a minimum wage hike to $12. Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is calling for a $15 minimum wage, even though the socialist only pays his interns $12 an hour. Is that all he can afford to pay them? A study published by the American Action Forum and the Manhattan Institute for Policy found both proposed minimum wage policies would decimate the jobs held by low-skilled workers who often vote Democrat. If the minimum wage rose to $12 an hour, the economy would lose 3.8 million jobs. If the minimum wage rose to $15 an hour, 6.6 million jobs would disappear. Besides putting the jobs of fast-food workers at risk, the Democrats’ plan would hurt their supposed darling constituency: illegal immigrants. Of the 11.3 million illegals in this country, 8.1 million hold jobs. At the same time, there are 9.6 million unemployed Americans — a number that would very well rise if Democrats take a top down, emotional approach to the economy.

Hillarynomics: Higher Tax Rates and More Solar Panels

By Paul Albaugh

2015-07-28-75601fe9_large.jpg
Even the kid is skeptical

Anyone who doubts Hillary Clinton is a socialist need look no further than her economic plan for America. Put simply, her proposals will continue Barack Obama’s path of economic ruin rather than turning the nation toward economic prosperity.

Earlier this month, Hillary made a few economic pronouncements, including bashing Republicans for “trickle-down economics” (a.k.a. capitalism). She also blamed GOP presidents for creating messes for Democrats to clean up, yet she never once mentioned the mess she and her own party created.

Hillary’s initial prescription to solve our nation’s economic woes is to raise the minimum wage, spend more tax dollars on infrastructure and put more women into the workforce. Surely her comments perked up the ears of progressives, but anyone who understands basic economics knows her proposals do nothing to create jobs in a struggling economy.

Now she’s proposed two more facets of her economic agenda, and let’s just say that they are equally terrible.

First, The Wall Street Journal reports Hillary proposes to “nearly double the top tax rate on long term capital gains to 43.4% from 23.8%.” She “wants to overthrow ‘quarterly capitalism,’ the supposed tendency of companies to be preoccupied with earnings reports and stock prices at the expense of investment that pays off over time.” She wants to apply the normal top income tax rate of 39.6% plus the 3.8% ObamaCare surtax to investments sold in less than two years. Sounds terrible, right? Well, it gets worse.

The Journal also notes Hillary’s proposed tax rate on capital gains would be higher than the rate in the 1970s or even during FDR’s New Deal: “She wants to create a sliding scale of higher tax rates that gradually decline depending on how long investors wait to realize a capital gain. For two years, the rate would rise to 43.4%, falling to 39.8% for year three and 35.8% in year four. Investments would have to be held for more than six years to qualify for the 23.8% rate.”

Hillary argues a higher tax on capital means more revenue for the government without torching the economy. But what she and other leftist proponents refuse to acknowledge is that higher taxes imposed on capital gains leave less capital for individuals or private companies to invest in technology, equipment, facilities and, more importantly, jobs.

If she were to be elected as the next president and succeed at implementing her plan, economic growth would slow even more, incomes would stagnate and people would essentially have to wait to cash in on their investment(s) — or be punished. In her twisted view, there is something wrong with individuals and corporations turning a profit. It’s as if because the individual or business was successful it isn’t fair to everyone else. Yet somehow it’s perfectly fair for her to haul in several hundred thousand dollars per speech? And not everyone can make a 10,000% profit on cattle futures.

The second facet of her economic proposal is — you guessed it — climate change. Let’s just say that her proposal is much like Obama’s, but on steroids.

On Sunday, she promised two national goals if elected president. First, she would “set the United States on a path toward producing enough clean renewable energy to power every home in America within a decade.” Second, she would “initiate a process that would bring the total number of solar panels installed nationwide to more than half a billion before the end of her first term.” We truly hope she never sees that first term, because all that proposal will do is line the pockets of cronies in the solar-power industry. But hey, she’s got to repay a favor — the two largest solar contractors in America gave generously to the Clinton Foundation.

Meanwhile, Hillary couldn’t resist the opportunity to blast the GOP on the climate. She claims Republicans answer questions about climate change by deflecting, “I’m not a scientist.” But she did no better, saying, “Well, I’m not a scientist either, I’m just a grandmother with two eyes and a brain.” She forgot to mention she stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Of course, the “science” behind climate change isn’t science at all; it’s an agenda. Hillary and her fellow climate alarmists need to take the blinders off of their eyes and use what’s left of their brains.

Additionally, she promises to fight back against the Republicans’ attempt to dismantle the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, though she says she’ll try to help those in the coal industry who have or will lose their jobs due to leftist environmental policies.

Gee, that’s terrific. Who in their right mind would believe she will “try to help those in the coal industry”? Remember Benghazi? The last thing most Americans want to hear from Hillary is that she is here to help. Especially since her economic policy proposals for higher tax rates and a landscape plastered with solar panels do nothing but hurt Americans and their prosperity rather than helping them.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Thomas Sowell: “It is a painful sign of the deterioration of respect for law that a new law has to be passed to prevent a ‘sanctuary city’ from obstructing justice, which is already a crime. The larger issue is control of our own borders. We can debate forever whether building a fence is the best way to do that. But too much time has been wasted already. One thing is certain. Building a fence won’t hurt. If other things can be done to secure the border, then do those things as well. The American people deserve some concrete reassurance that Congress is finally getting serious. … Instead of holding extensive Congressional hearings, airing all the arguments pro and con on immigration issues, and bringing out all the available facts, some politicians seek to rush through ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ — meaning some sweeping legislation that neither the public nor the Congress has had time to consider. Congress did that when it passed ObamaCare. Do we want to let immigration laws become something else that we learn about only after the fact, when it is too late?”

Insight: “None can love freedom heartily, but good men; the rest love not freedom, but license.” —Poet John Milton (1608-1674)

Upright: “There are actions that can be taken immediately to reclaim the decency we are all worthy of, and that includes … cutting off the $500 million dollar a year taxpayer subsidy of Planned Parenthood. They report a $1 billion profit every year. Let them suffer with a paltry $500M profit by making them pay for the non-abortion services they contend they provide. The left is always complaining about massive corporate profits, and ending ‘corporate welfare.’ Let’s start with Planned Parenthood.” —columnist Tammy Bruce

Belly laugh of the week: “[W]e’re creating a culture that is not conducive to good policy or good politics. The American people deserve better. Certainly, presidential debates deserve better. In 18 months, I’m turning over the keys — I want to make sure I’m turning over the keys to somebody who is serious about the serious problems the country faces and the world faces.” —Barack Obama

Alpha Jackass: “I actually think I’m a pretty good president. I think if I ran [for a third term], I could win. But I can’t. So there’s a lot that I’d like to do to keep America moving, but the law is the law.” —Barack Obama

Cognitive dissonance: “There’s a lot of merit to the [Iranian nuclear] deal, but there’s also a legitimate cause for concern and I think this is a decision that no member of Congress should make lightly.” —Debbie Wasserman Schultz

And last… “Do you know that in the restaurants of New York, they have an inspection system? You can surprise any restaurant without notice — you can walk in and inspect them. … We’re not protected from [an Iranian] bomb, but we’re protected from a bad quality tuna fish.” —comedian Jackie Mason

The Economic And Financial Problems In Europe Are Only Just Beginning…

Euro Gears - Public DomainRight now, the financial world is focused on the breathtaking stock market crash in China, but don’t forget to keep an eye on what is happening in Europe.  Collectively, the European Union has a larger population than the United States, a larger economy than either the U.S. or China, and the banking system in Europe is the biggest on the planet by far.  So what happens in Europe really matters, and at this point the European economy is absolutely primed for a meltdown.  European debt levels have never been higher, European banks are absolutely loaded with non-performing loans and high-risk derivatives, and the unemployment rate in the eurozone is currently more than double the unemployment rate in the United States.  In all the euphoria surrounding the “deal” that temporarily kept Greece in the eurozone, I think that people have forgotten that the economic and financial fundamentals in Europe have continued to deteriorate.  Whether Greece ultimately leaves the eurozone or not, a great financial crisis is inevitably coming to Europe.  It is just a matter of time. Now Is The Time – Fear Rises As Financial Markets All Over The Planet Start To Crash

On Sunday night, we witnessed the second largest one day stock market collapse in China ever, and this pushed stocks all over the planet into the red.  Meanwhile, the twin blades of an emerging market currency crisis and a commodity price crash are chewing up economies that are dependent on the export of natural resources all over the globe.  For a long time, I have been warning about what would happen in the second half of 2015, and now it is here.  The following is a summary of the financial carnage that we have seen over the past 24 hours… (Read More….)

Jon Stewart’s secret White House visits

Obama Stewart cc

Cultivating this relationship was smart for the President. It’s a good way to keep tabs on (and to manipulate potentially) tone with an influential young(er) and politically motivated demographic.

It is also unfortunately another great example of the #CRONYMEDIA.

It might be “fake news” (as Stewart often says) but one could make the case that sometimes Jon’s product ventured a little close to the propaganda line. It may be smart. He may be smart. But if Stewart is meeting with the President secretly during particularly sensitive times for narrative creation, propaganda may not be too strong a word.

I like Jon Stewart. I’ve watched him since his show on MTV. But it’s best that he’s leaving now.

Thanks to Donald Trump, the major media are being forced to cover the illegal immigration movement, such as the proliferation of “sanctuary cities” across the U.S. that attract criminal aliens, give them legal protection, and let them back out on the streets to commit more crimes. But the really taboo topic is how these sanctuary cities grew out of a movement started by the Catholic Church and other churches. Over 200 cities, counties and states provide safe-haven to illegal aliens as sanctuary cities, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reports. What has not yet been reported is that…

Obama slams Huckabee for invoking Holocaust in his criticism of Iran deal; Huckabee responds with facts

Huckabee has come under fire from both Jewish groups and the Democratic party after making the comparison between the Holocaust and the Iran deal. However the Republican presidential candidate refused to back down, continuing to make his case against the Iran deal on Twitter. He tweeted a series of messages Sunday with quotes from Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in which they threaten Israel with a holocaust.

US President Barack Obama on Monday condemned rhetoric about the Iran deal from leading members of the Republican party, including GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, who has drawn criticism for comparing the accord to the Holocaust.

Huckabee called Barack Obama “feckless” and “naive” in an interview with Breitbart News on Saturday, adding that by signing the deal the President “will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

Speaking at a press conference in Ethiopia on Monday, Obama said that such “outrageous attacks” have become “all too commonplace” among Republican politicians.

The US president described Huckabee’s comments as “part of just a general pattern we have seen that would be considered ridiculous if it weren’t so sad.”

Outrage In Nevada As LGBT Rainbow Flag Replaces American Flag Over Reno City Hall

Sunday in Reno, Nevada, the infamous gay-pride rainbow flag replaced the American flag over City Hall.

The outrage was immediate. For very good reason, many see the gay pride flag as a symbol of oppression, hate and bullying. City leaders eventually backed down claiming that the fascist gay-pride flag was supposed to fly with the American flag, not replace the American flag.

Nationwide Boycott Called As Boy Scouts Of America Adopt The LGBT Agenda

The Boy Scouts of America on Monday ended its blanket ban on gay adult leaders while allowing church-sponsored Scout units to maintain the exclusion for religious reasons.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I have many fond memories of being in Boy Scout Troop 38 as a teenager, scouting was a fun and informative time in my life. None of these great memories however, include the promotion of the same-sex marriage agenda. In 2015, the BSA has been hijacked by the LGBT Mafia, and as such, we call for an immediate nationwide boycott and rejection of the Boy Scouts of America. Where is the voice of the Christian Church in this nation to rise up and condemn this? I’ll tell you why, because the useless, silent, end times Laodicean Christian Church is too busy “asking for blessings” instead of standing on the Bible.

The new policy, aimed at easing a controversy that has embroiled the Boy Scouts for years, takes effect immediately. It was approved by the BSA’s National Executive Board on a 45-12 vote during a closed-to-the-media teleconference.

The Boy Scouts of America on Monday ended its blanket ban on gay adult leaders during a vote

‘Now it’s time to unite behind our shared belief in the extraordinary power of Scouting to be a force for good.’ The stage had been set for Monday’s action on May 21, when Gates told the Scouts’ national meeting that the long-standing ban on participation by openly gay adults was no longer sustainable.

He said the ban was likely to be the target of lawsuits that the Scouts likely would lose.

Two weeks ago, the new policy was approved unanimously by the BSA’s 17-member National Executive Committee.

It would allow local Scout units to select adult leaders without regard to sexual orientation – a stance that several Scout councils have already adopted in defiance of the official national policy. In 2013, after heated internal debate, the BSA decided to allow openly gay youth as scouts, but not gay adults as leaders.

TRAIL LIFE, USA: The Christian alternative to the Boy Scouts of America. Trail Life, USA, is a Christian scouting group with Biblical values and a strong statement of faith. If you are the parent of a son in the BSA, we urge you to visit Trail Life USA and prayfully consider making the switch today.

Several denominations that collectively sponsor close to half of all Scout units – including the Roman Catholic church, the Mormon church and the Southern Baptist Convention – have been apprehensive about ending the ban on gay adults.

Stuart Upton, a lawyer for the LGBT-rights group Lambda Legal, questioned whether the BSA’s new policy to let church-sponsored units continue to exclude gay adults would be sustainable.

‘There will be a period of time where they’ll have some legal protection,’ Upton said. ‘But that doesn’t mean the lawsuits won’t keep coming… They will become increasingly marginalized from the direction society is going.’source

Boy Scouts of America end total ban on gay adults

Seems the constant harassment coming from the powerful homosexual lobby was too much for the Scouts’ leadership. They finally caved in from the pressure. Yahoo News has the story:

The new policy, aimed at easing a controversy that has embroiled the Boy Scouts for years, takes effect immediately. It was approved by the BSA’s National Executive Board on a 45-12 vote during a closed-to-the-media teleconference.

“For far too long this issue has divided and distracted us,” said the BSA’s president, former Defense Secretary Robert Gates. “Now it’s time to unite behind our shared belief in the extraordinary power of Scouting to be a force for good.”

Atheist group cries “foul” after BSA lifts ban on gays, but not its own

ChristianExaminer reports this not so surprising story — the Boy Scouts of America are getting harassed by atheists!:

The atheist Freedom from Religion Foundation is praising the Boy Scouts of America for their new policy allowing gay adult leaders and employees in the organization, but also rebuking it for not extending the same opportunity to atheists.

In a statement issued after the BSA announced its policy shift, the Wisconsin-based group said the BSA had “cut a deal with the churches and conservative religious groups that run many packs and troops by exempting them from the deal [mandating the acceptance of homosexual leaders].”

Technician details harvesting fetal parts for Planned Parenthood in latest video

Fox News has the latest on the Planned Parenthood scandal:

Graphic video warning!

Pre-born babyA technician who said she worked for a company that partnered with Planned Parenthood to harvest fetal tissue said there’s “incentive to try and get the hard stuff ‘cause you’re going to get more money,” in the latest undercover video targeting Planned Parenthood.

“For whatever we could procure, they would get a certain percentage,” said Holly O’Donnell, identified as an ex-procurement technician for StemExpress, a Placerville, Calif., company. “The main nurse was always trying to make sure we got our specimens. No one else really cared, but the main nurse did because she knew that Planned Parenthood was getting compensated.”

Planned Parenthood Aborted 327,653 Human Beings In Fiscal Year 2014

Planned Parenthood releases 2014 Annual Report

“And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.” Jeremiah 32:35 (KJV)

Barack Obama promised, when he was pushing Obamacare, that no abortions would be funded by US taxpayer dollars. Well, he lied about that, to the tune of $528,400,000.00 taxpayer dollars that Planned Parenthood says, in their annual report, that they were given by the Federal government. They then used those half-billion plus dollars to abort 327,653 live human beings, some just mere weeks from being born.

planned-parenthood-aborted-327653-babies-2014

Planned Parenthood pays no taxes of any kind, and reports that they have $1,303,000,000.00 in cash in the bank after paying their bills. Clearly, murdering babies is big business in America in 2015.

Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak was a key vote in the passage of Obamacare. His one hangup was federal funds being used for abortion. President Obama signed Executive Order 13535, assuring Stupak that would not be done. But Obama lied.

Stupak voted for the ACA, America went into the baby-killing business, and the rest is history. How many more millions will die in this abortion holocaust?

The time to defund Planned Parenthood is now.

Is Obama to Blame for Weak Economic Growth?

Editor’s note: This article first appeared at Forbes.com.

A political science colleague sent me an article documenting President Obama’s dismal economic record, and he asked me for added details and perspective. Here goes:

True, economic growth under Obama has been sluggish, fitful, faltering, historically weak, etc. However, if you look at the charts in the article—especially the second and third—you can see that U.S. economic growth has been trending downward for several decades. Conclusion: Our economic woes did not begin with Barack Obama. However, he has done nothing to reverse the trend; on the contrary, he has doubled down on the very policies that have hampered economic growth.

The headwinds opposing economic growth are generated by what Ronald Reagan referred to as “the government disease.” No president has advocated, championed, and imposed more harmful government intervention than Barack Obama.

Here’s a short list of those interventions:

1.) Government spending. Economists as far back as Adam Smith have noted that the true burden of government is what it spends, not what it taxes. When political decisions about where to allocate scarce economic resources supplant market decisions, production inevitably is diverted from the most highly valued needs to less valued things. Thus, less wealth is produced, economic growth is suboptimal, and the people are poorer than they otherwise would be.

While not having increased federal spending by as large a percentage as his predecessor, Obama undeniably has presided over more market-distorting government spending that any of his predecessors. To be fair, some of this spending was already baked into the cake—particularly the rising spending on Social Security and Medicare. Because federal entitlements operate on a “pay as you go” basis, these increasing expenditures to seniors do not consist of real economic returns on capital invested. Instead they transfer hundreds of billions of dollars from current workers to mostly retirees. Entitlement expenditures artificially inflate GDP and overstate the real wealth of the country, because those dollars represent purchasing power that does not arise from the production of actual goods or services.

2.) Rising debt. The greater the debt load, the more present income is diverted from present consumption to pay for past consumption. After a brief downturn following the 2008-9 financial crisis, total debt has risen by over 15 percent to a shade over $59 trillion, according to the Federal Reserve. Over half of the $7.35 trillion increased (some $4.84 trillion) is government debt stemming from Obama’s budgets.

Obama’s policy of encouraging and facilitating loans to college students has seen student debt soar to over $1 trillion with devastating economic consequences for the recipients. Young graduates struggling under the burden of debt have delayed marriage, child bearing, home buying, etc. In too many cases, college debt has stunted young American lives.

3.) Suffocating regulation. The Obama administration has burdened Americans with a record amount of federal regulation as measured by the number of new rules promulgated and pages in the Federal Register. The annual cost of the federal regulatory burden is now approximately $1.9 trillion (only nine countries’ GDPs are larger). As reported in Investor’s Business Daily, “the cost of enforcing federal economic regulations is … up 31 percent since Obama took office, and the ‘Code of Federal Regulations’ is 17,294 pages longer.”

Furthermore, as noted by Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, the Sarbanes-Oxley law (which Obama inherited, but has not revised) and Dodd-Frank (which a Democratic Congress passed in 2010 with Obama’s approval) have “placed significant burdens on the large number of small companies.” Consequently, we are in the unusual and worrisome situation of businesses closing at a faster rate than they are opening, thereby shrinking employment opportunities and slowing economic growth.

4.) Tax policy. Business tax rates have remained unchanged under Obama, and that has had negative consequences in a world that has been shifting toward lower corporate profit taxes. By allowing the United States to have the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world, American businesses are migrating abroad via the corporate inversion maneuver.

5.) The war on work. While constantly professing concern for workers, Obama has consistently supported and implemented policies—ranging from a higher minimum wage to federal jobs programs to anti-business policies—that have shrunk the number of jobs (see the Labor Force Participation Rate). Obama’s prize legislative achievement, the Affordable Care Act, has shrunk the number of hours worked (and consequently the amount of wealth created) by incentivizing employers to reduce the number of full-time jobs. According to David Stockman, the United States has two million fewer full-time workers now than it did in 2007.

Bottom line: President Obama’s policies have crippled the American economy.

John Kerry’s Staggering Admission That US Will Defend Iran Against Israeli Strike

Kerry: U.S. will Help Iran Protect its Nuclear Program From Sabotage

“Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.” Psalm 25:22 (KJV)

As bad as Iran is, Israel has a much greater enemy in the Obama administration who, obviously, is actively plotting against them. One of the clauses in the Obama Iranian Nuclear Deal is that it calls for the United States to defend Iran against any attacks from an outside country that would seek to sabotage their nuclear production.

Watch John Kerry and company slither and squirm their way through repeated denials that the US will be obligated to defend Iran against a strike. But Marco Rubio continues to press his point as he quotes directly from the document which forces Kerry to admit “we will just have to wait till we get to that point” to see what happens.

The audacity of Obama that he would dare work a deal in which the United States would be obligated to defend the terror-state of Iran is mind boggling. And doubly more so when you add the Israel factor into the mix. The only way to explain how the American people would ever tolerate this nightmare is that God has blinded us a nation, and that His judgment upon us, in the form of Barack Obama, is leading us to national destruction.

We know that, in the end, Israel wins. But it comes at the overwhelming price of the Great Tribulation. We also know that America is not mentioned in Bible prophecy. I think it’s starting to become quite clear why we are not listed among the nations.

We are the enemy of Israel.

State defends firing for calling homosexuality ‘sinful’

Posted: 28 Jul 2015 06:28 AM PDT

The state of Kentucky is doubling down on a decision to ban volunteer pastor counselors in its youth division from calling homosexuality “sinful,” as it is defined in the Bible. In a statement sent Monday to WND, Stacy Floden of the state’s program services in the Department of Juvenile Justice said her agency “seeks to protect the rights of all youth in its care and custody regardless of sexual orientation or committing offense.”

“To this end, the department prohibits its staff and volunteers from discriminating against youth based on sexual orientation or gender identity,” Floden said. That means Christian pastors who have served as volunteers but cannot sign a statement assuring the state they will never refer to homosexuality as “sinful” are being dropped from the program. WND reported Friday that the issue was being raised by the non-profit legal group Liberty Counsel.

The lawyers sent a letter to Bob Hayter, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice, demanding that the state religious test be dropped and that a dismissed counselor be reinstated. MORE

Turkey and US ‘planning buffer zone’ in northern Syria

Posted: 28 Jul 2015 05:53 AM PDT

The US and Turkey are working together on military plans to clear the Islamic State (IS) group from parts of northern Syria, American officials say. They said an “Islamic State-free zone” would ensure greater stability along the Syria-Turkish border. The talks follow a major shift in Turkey’s approach to IS in recent days.

Turkey, which had been reluctant to intervene in Syria, has launched raids against IS and allowed US jets to use a Turkish base. The Turkish operations have led to tensions with Kurdish militia forces fighting IS in northern Syria. On Monday Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) said Turkish tanks had shelled their fighters near the key town of Kobane. Turkey said it was investigating the YPG’s claim. Steinitz Slams Kerry: No One Has Authority to Threaten Israel

Posted: 28 Jul 2015 05:48 AM PDT

Energy and Water Minister Yuval Steinitz (Likud) slammed US Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday for suggesting Israel would be blamed if Congress blocked the nuclear agreement with Iran. “The State of Israel will speaks about its view on the Iranian nuclear issue, as related to its security and existence. No one has the authority to threaten it,” Steinitz, the Jewish state’s point person on Iran, charged.

According to Steinitz, arguments against the agreement stem from objective concerns, which are not exclusively felt by Israel. “Criticism of the agreement in the United States in general, and Congress in particular, is due to to the serious flaws and loopholes found it it, transforming the so-called ‘tight and intrusive’ agreement into a farce.” Aside from Steinitz, an unnamed Israeli official told The New York Times on Saturday that Israel would continue to criticize the nuclear agreement with Iran and would not be pressured to stop voicing its objections.

“We reject the threats directed at Israel in recent days,” the official stressed. “The US Congress will make its decision based on American interests, which include consideration of US allies.” MORE

Brain-Eating Amoeba Shows Up in Louisiana Tap Water

Posted: 28 Jul 2015 05:39 AM PDT

A brain-eating amoeba that killed two people in two weeks ago has turned up in the water supply of a Louisiana county near New Orleans for the second time in two years. The water supply of St. Bernard Parish (Louisiana counties are called parishes), which is located five miles outside of downtown New Orleans, is undergoing a 60-day chlorine “burn” to eradicate Naegleria fowleri, the Louisiana Department of Heath and Hospitals announced.

Officials say the burn is being conducted “out of caution,” adding that the tap water is safe to drink because you cannot become ill by drinking infected water. However, they warn that residents should avoid getting water in their noses because it can infect people via that route. It travels up the nose and into the brain, where it typically causes an infection of the lining around the brain (meningitis) and inflammation of the brain (encephalitis). Symptoms often include severe headaches, fever, and a stiff neck. MORE

Bangkok Is Sinking and May Be Underwater in 15 Years

Posted: 27 Jul 2015 05:13 PM PDT

A new report from Thailand’s government says that Bangkok, its capital city and home to some 14 million people, could be underwater in the next 15 years thanks to a combination of sinking land and rising global sea levels. The conclusion comes from Thailand’s National Reform Council, which issued a report last week that warned “immediate and costly solutions are needed to avert a catastrophe,” caused by “excessive pumping from the [underground] aquifer, the weight of mushrooming development and rising sea levels,” the Bangkok Post reports.

The city, much of which lies at an elevation of just under 5 feet above sea level, already is sinking at a rate of 2 centimeters (about 0.8 inches) every year. Should it continue at this rate for the rest of this century, by 2100 “Bangkok will be fully submerged and unliveable,” the Global Post reports. This sinking, called subsidence by the scientists who study it, is accelerated by the sheer number, size and weight of all the buildings pressing down on the land all around Bangkok, according to the NRC committee that issued last week’s report. Meteor shower created by bizarre comet, Unlike anything else in our solar system

Posted: 27 Jul 2015 04:56 PM PDT

A Perseid meteor streaks across the sky. Next month we will see one of the best Perseid meteor showers in years. There’s a very strange comet flying through our solar neighborhood that is like nothing astronomers have ever seen in a another comet.
And this had led some to speculate that maybe it’s not from around here but came to our solar neighborhood by chance from a completely different solar system far way.

It’s called Comet 69P/Machholz, and it’s the most-likely suspect responsible for the annual meteor shower happening this week. If that’s the case, then right now Earth is flying through this alien comet’s tail, which consists of dust and debris the comet has shed in its path around the sun. As these comet guts get swept up by Earth’s gravity, they fall toward us, burning up in the atmosphere on their way down in the form of what we call shooting stars — or a meteor shower. This week’s show of falling stars is called the Delta Aquarid meteor shower.

The shower takes place from July 12 through August 23, but the best time to catch a glimpse — when the most meteors are streaking across the sky — will be early Wednesday morning, after moon-set and before sunrise centered around 2 a.m. (for all time zones), according to EarthSky. The Delta Aquarid meteor shower is not as spectacular as next month’s Perseid meteor shower, but it’s still worth checking out. You’ll need to have dark skies, far from city lights. At peak viewing time you should see between 10 to 20 meteors an hour. FULL REPORT

China Stocks Suffer Sharpest Daily Fall Since 2007

Posted: 27 Jul 2015 03:48 PM PDT

China stocks suffered their sharpest daily percentage decline since 2007, as worries mount that authorities are pulling back on measures to prop up the market. The Shanghai Composite Index SHCOMP, -8.48% ended down 8.5% at 3,725.56, its second-straight day of losses and worst daily percentage fall since February 27, 2007. China’s main index is up 6% from its recent low on July 8, but still off 28% from its high in June. The smaller Shenzhen Composite 399106, -7.00% fell 7% to 2,160.09 and the small-cap ChiNext 399006, -7.40% closed 7.4% lower at 2,683.45.

Analysts say the selling came as investors fear the government is curbing its buying of blue-chip stocks—and could even be testing whether the market can support itself. “The previous support from the government funds is apparently unsustainable,” said Fu Xuejun, a strategist at Huarong Securities. “They may withdraw support today to test whether the market has recovered its resilience. The government wants to use state funds to stabilize the market, not to prop it back to 5,000 point overnight.” MORE

“My Last Day” — the Jesus Anime

9 powerful minutes of animation that begins with a thief behind bars watching the scourging of Jesus, and it ends with the thief dying next to Jesus, and waking to see Him in a beautiful place.

The dying thief: What was so great about his faith?

There are many acts of extraordinary faith in the Bible. The one that has impressed me the most concerns the dying thief on the cross. We could take the approach that he had nothing to lose, so he decided to cast his lot with Jesus. But this makes absolutely no sense of the text and the context.
In this conversion we have a specific fulfillment of Christ’s first words on the cross. No sooner had Christ spoken the words, “Father, forgive them,” had the Father answered that prayer by turning a once-reviling criminal into a Christ-glorifying saint. While the soon-to-be converted criminal was not directly responsible for Christ’s death, he nevertheless joined with those who were and was thus indirectly addressed when Christ asked for God to forgive “them.”
Christ, the sinless one, was numbered with or counted among the transgressors (Isa. 53:12; Luke 22:37), all of whom have a bigger problem than the day-to-day sins they commit. They hate Christ, the God-man. Anyone who has a master other than the Lord Jesus hates him (Lk. 16:13; Gal. 4:8). That these two criminals loathed him is clearly manifested during the crucifixion: “And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way” (Matt. 27:44).
When the criminal who was converted was doing his worst against Christ, Christ was doing his best for this criminal.
The conversion of the one criminal was most extraordinary and testifies to the power of Christ’s prayer and the grace of God. Why?
This criminal’s faith did not come at a time such as when Christ turned water into wine; or performed miracles, such as walking on water, opening the eyes of a blind man, or raising Lazarus from the dead. No! The criminal believed on the Messiah while he was hanging as one cursed upon a tree. The criminal trusted in and boldly defended the one whose disciples had abandoned him. Jesus was at his lowest when this criminal asked to be remembered in Christ’s kingdom.
When he was on the cross, did anyone publicly cry out, as John the Baptist did, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn. 1:29)? But this is essentially what the dying thief did. Little wonder, then, that Christ should promise him a place in his kingdom: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (Lk. 23:43).
The criminal acknowledged he was guilty; he acknowledged that Christ was not (“this man has done nothing wrong”); he feared God; but, and here is the key: the criminal did not merely want to be in a better place. He wanted to be with Christ in a better place: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Lk. 23:42). The criminal believed “against all hope”.
Heaven is a better place because that is where Christ is. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but not everyone wants to go to Christ’s heaven. Not so with this criminal: he saw, with his eyes, Christ at his worst; but with the eyes of faith, he believed that Christ would soon be at his best, and so put his faith in a dying king.
Christ is always – always! – willing to save even the most miserable of sinners. A recognition of guilt (Lk. 23:40) and a confidence in him and not ourselves (Lk. 23:42) will always lead to the most assuring truth a sinner can receive: the Savior welcomes such into his paradise!
“One is saved, and we may not despair; the other is lost, and we may not presume.” Spurgeon

Perpetual Worship: The Discipline of Loving God in Creation

“Christianity has always had a stream of thought that regards creation with real suspicion. Many Christians have felt that creation, be it the body, or food, or wealth, is partly evil. Detroit’s Baphomet statue and the coming Abomination of Desolation

The Bible speaks of idolatrous statues quite often. There is one particular statue to come which will outstrip the evilness of all the rest. For now, in Detroit, the 200-plus member Church of Satan unveiled a statue of a false and evil god known as Baphomet and I’ll speak of that down below. But first, a look at idolatrous statues in the Bible.

It’s Time To Get Out of the Closet

It seems that every activist group in town is coming out of the closet – except one. Homosexuals are happy to go public, as, increasingly, are polyamorists, the incest brigade, and even paedophiles. All these groups – and more – are seizing the moment, publicly declaring themselves, coming out loud and proud, and demanding to be accepted and celebrated.

Yet there is one group that seems to be doing the exact opposite. One group is actually going back into the closet. Whether because of fear or whatever, more and more of these folks are retreating from the public arena where they belong, and they are going back into hiding.

I refer of course to spineless Christians. Far too many have absolutely abandoned the calling – and command – to be salt and light, and are retreating with their mouths fully shut. They refuse to speak out, whether about the vital social and moral issues of the day, or even about their own faith.

closet 4So intimidated and cowardly have they become, that they sit back and say nothing and do nothing when all around them their faith is under attack and sin is coming in like a flood. They have effectively decidedly to just sit all this out, pretending they can somehow remain neutral in a time of crisis.

Culpable Ignorance: You have no excuse for not knowing what abortion is.

One of Jesus’ last words from the cross also happens to be one that bears directly on our thinking about abortion and—in particular—about the videos exposing Planned Parenthood. Unfortunately, the connection is often missed because the text is widely misunderstood.

The words I have in mind are Jesus’ prayer from the cross: “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). People often misread this statement to imply that there is no guilt when people are unaware that what they are doing is wrong. Because neither the Jews nor the Romans recognized Jesus as the Christ, they do not bear the weight of guilt for their part in killing the Son of God. At least that is how Jesus’ prayer is sometimes misunderstood. Read more of this post

Nothing In, Nothing Out

When I was in the UK last week, my family and I took an open-top bus tour of London. One of our guides was obsessed with telling us the value of properties. The week before, a parking space in London had sold for almost $350,000. A parking space!

He told us that many wealthy people bought multi-million dollar properties in Park Lane and Belgravia but never lived in them. They just wanted the prestigious address for the top of their notepaper. Then there were the luxury hotels with rows of Ferraris, Porsches, and Lamborghinis parked outside.

Finally we viewed the awesome landmark office buildings like the Gherkin, the Shard, and the Walkie-Talkie. My younger brother works in the Gherkin, so we were privileged to get a trip to the viewing gallery. We were quite the embarassing contrast to the power-dressing executives and supermodel secretaries. But we got a fantastic view of the modern financial district as well as the more ancient landmarks like the Tower of London.

I couldn’t help thinking of all that power and wealth when I was preparing a sermon on 1 Timothy 6 late last week. There, in verse 7, we come across a label that God puts on every car, every house, every office, every dollar, ever title, every position, everything: “We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

Nothing in, Nothing out

This is a label for all things, for all people, and for all times of life.

When you are having a baby: What does that baby come in with? Nothing. What shall it leave with? Nothing. As Job said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there” (Job 1:21). We all enter and exit the same way. Nothing in, nothing out.

When you are deciding on a career: Don’t make money, salary, and benefits the only consideration. Put this label at the top of every job offer.

When you want something too much: When covetousness and greed get a grip of your heart, loosen its deadly hands by putting this label on the object of your desire. “Nothing in, Nothing out.”

When you get something you’ve always wanted: Don’t make an idol of it. Don’t get too attached to it. It is certain we shall carry nothing out.

When you lose something valuable: It may be a well-paying job, an inheritance, a house, or many of your possessions are destroyed in a fire or taken in a robbery. It just got taken from us a few years earlier than expected. Nothing in, nothing out.

When you are tempted to do wrong to get more money: Is it worth it? For something you are going to have to leave in a few short years anyway?

When you are deciding what to give to the Lord’s cause: Why not give more of it to the Lord before it’s taken by the Lord?

When you are complaining about how little you have: We all leave with the same amount. Nothing.

When you are planning your latter years: When thinking about retirement, pensions, trust funds, inheritances, etc. think on this verse. Yes, it’s appropriate to plan, but if you stick “Nothing in, nothing out” on everything, it will make your decisions much easier and much better.

When you are thinking of the judgment:  We check everything at the grave. When the multi-billionaire John D. Rockefeller died, his assistant was asked, “How much did he leave?” “Everything,” he replied.

Why not print this verse and stick it on everything you have or want: “We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

And while you’re at it, maybe put another label beside it: “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”

A Right Theology of Fear (And Why You Need It)

I know that I’m not supposed to be. I’ve heard all of the lines about how God wins. I’ve sung the words plenty, “If our God is for us, then who can ever stop us.” I know that I’m supposed to “fear not” and yet, in these times, I have to wonder how it’s possible to feel no fear without assuming an ostrich position and ignoring all that is happening in our world.

In addition to tasting the bile of fear in my stomach, I am wrestling with how to reconcile my fear and my faith.

  • What am I supposed to do with my fear?
  • Is fear the “gift” that psychologists tell me it is, or is it evidence that my faith is sick and useless?
  • I’ve been a Christian for nearly twenty years; should I have the fearlessness of Wonder Woman as a result?
  • Is my fear a sin?

Fear makes me suddenly and painfully aware of my total lack of control.

I may not have all of the answers, but I know where to run to find them. God’s Word has plenty to say about fear. In fact, there are well over 400 verses on the subject. I imagine that is because there is much to fear in our fallen and broken world and because I’m not the only one whose heart’s default posture is fear. Yes, the Bible says “fear not.” In fact that is the most consistent message about fear in the Bible, but it’s not all God has to say on the subject. If you’ve got questions about fear, the Bible has answers. Here’s an overview of the theology of fear found in God’s Word.

Six factors to consider.

The Key to the Christian’s Joy
Well, I think for the first time I disagree with R C Sproul on a minor point admittedly! I don’t accept that because the culture has hijacked the word “happy” that we should give it up. Rather I think we should reclaim this biblical word and refill it with biblical content. Having said that, this is a fine article with many good points in it. And while we’re talking about it here’s the first in a new series of videos on Christian joy by John Piper.

We Will Not Bow
John Macarthur recently preached a sermon in which he said that “the two biggest acts of terror our country have faced are both from our Supreme Court: the legalization of abortion, and now the legalization of SSM. How are those two connected? Well, the first attacks mothers, and second attacks families. Three reasons your group should break up

Brandon Hiltibidal:

Small groups have at least one thing in common with middle school daters and pints of Graeter’s in my freezer: they can’t be expected to last forever. Of course, commitment to your group is critical. Group members can’t sharpen one another without time and the willingness to deal with discomfort. However, it is unlikely and perhaps even unhealthy to assume you will “do life” with the same eight people until Jesus comes back. Sometimes some relationships lack the right fit for solid discipleship. We are called to love everyone in the church, but we can’t dig deep with everyone we meet. Let’s be willing to reset our group when it doesn’t make sense for shared spiritual growth.

So, here are three reasons your group might want to consider a cordial break-up, in order to build new relationships with other group members. Remember, this doesn’t mean you can’t all go to heaven together—just that maybe you should “see other people” until then.

15 Years and What Do You Get?

Joan Hartley:

It has occurred to me that fifteen years did indeed go by in a flash. Fifteen is not a very big number, and yet in that amount of time, I have observed tremendous change all about me. Of course, the home that was new a few years ago has begun to show its age and need for attention. Our parents have all died. Our children have gone from being pre-teens and teens (which once afforded us the luxury of resident slave labor) to adults in their upper 20s and early 30s – some with children of their own. Amazingly, my husband and I now both qualify for AARP discounts at participating hotels.

Don’t Pray About the Book of Mormon

I appreciated a lot about this post, particularly the point that some things we don’t need to pray about because they’re kind of obvious.

Why Encouragement is Not Optional

Dan Darling:

People closest to us need to hear words of affirmation from us. They need to hear them regularly, consistently, and sincerely. Not empty words of flattery, like something we’d type on Facebook on someone’s birthday (“best husband in the whole world!”), but genuine and heartfelt praise for the unique gifts and contribution of those closest to us.

The Loss of Infants: What is their Destiny? – “What comfort can we offer to parents whose infant dies in infancy? And what is the real tragedy of abortion?  Reformed Confessions have spoken to this issue, Charles Spurgeon has addressed the question, B.B. Warfield has as well, and many of us have some view on what happens to infants dying in infancy or babies that are mercilessly slaughtered in their mother’s womb. But there is no clear unanimity from Christian theologians over the centuries.”

One Simple Way to Encourage Your Pastor – “I’m not talking about stroking your pastor’s ego just to make him (or you) feel good. I’m not talking about perfunctory praise. And I’m not talking about idle flattery. Don’t tell your pastor anything you don’t really mean.  But if your pastor’s sermon helped you see more of Jesus, or helped you turn from sin, or helped you understand the Bible better, or helped you be a better spouse, or helped you trust God in the midst of suffering, or stirred your affections for the things of glory, tell him. It doesn’t have to be every week or even every month.”

10 Bible verses to help you through bereavement – “Losing a loved one is never easy, and grief can be an incredibly painful process. Here are 10 Bible verses to help you through bereavement, and remind you that God is good, and his promises are for us even in our darkest moments.”

Judgment at Christ’s return – “When Christians understand their proper role in their relationship with their Saviour as that of a δοῦλος (slave) of the Κύριον ᾿Ιησοῦν Χριστόν (Lord Jesus Christ) then this whole Lordship Salvation debate just looks silly. We do not make Jesus Lord, He is Lord. Those whom He saves are His δοῦλοί and their responsibility is to serve Him according to His will for the rest of their lives. However, as the passage above reads, this does not include everyone, far from it. There are enemies of the cross of Christ. While these δοῦλοι of the Κύριον ᾿Ιησοῦν Χριστόν will spend eternity with Him, these enemies ‘whose end is destruction.’”

07/28/15 Living in a Backwards Way

READING: 2 Kings 18:9-19:37; Psalm 46, 80, 135

TEXTS AND APPLICATION: What most catches my attention in these chapters (largely related to Hezekiah’s reign over Judah) are the words of the diplomat of the Assyrian king when he spoke to the Hebrews:

2 Kings 18:19  Then the Rabshakeh said to them, “Tell Hezekiah this is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: ‘What are you relying on?’”

The question was simple: On what are you depending as you battle against Assyria? The diplomat said that Egypt could not help the Hebrews — but nor would God, he said. The gods of the other nations could not save them from Assyria, and the God of the Hebrews would not protect them, either.

Here’s the question for me today: On what do I rely when life gets difficult? Do I rely on my educational training? On my speaking ability? On my ministry experience? On my friends? On myself?

If I’m honest, I rely on myself first too often, and then turn to God only after I’ve made a bigger mess.   The diplomat of Assyria got it wrong about God, but I sometimes get it wrong, too, when I rely on something other than God. If I try to fix things first and then turn to God, I’m relying on self. I’m living in a backwards way.

PRAYER: Pray that I would turn to God first in all matters today — that I would fundamentally depend on Him.

Why Didn’t Martha Tell Mary?

Re: John 11:17-44.  Since the narrative doesn’t state that Jesus asked Martha to find Mary for Him, did Martha simply lie to her sister Mary in this instance, or do you find evidence anywhere that Jesus did ask for Mary’s presence? If Martha lied to Mary, what was her reason or excuse?

Is My Dream Catcher An Idol?

Recently I had a conversation with another Christian friend re dream catchers.  Several years ago  I worked on a Navajo Indian Reservation for one summer.  During that time I bought many souvenirs.  I found a beautiful dream catcher I liked so I bought it.   It ended up hanging off my mantle in my downstairs family room.  I really never gave it a lot of thought.  My friend feels it’s something evil, like an idol I suppose.  I never viewed it as such and certainly would never hang it over my bed hoping to filter out bad dreams. Did I use poor judgment in bringing it home?

Does the word atheism mean “a lack of belief in God”?

Making sense of the meaning of atheism Making sense of the meaning of atheism

First, let’s see check with the Stanford University Encyclopedia of Philosophy.

Excerpt:

‘Atheism’ means the negation of theism, the denial of the existence of God.

Stanford University is one of the top 5 universities in the United States, so that’s a solid definition. To be an atheist is to be a person who makes the claim that, as a matter of FACT, there is no intelligent agent who created the universe. Atheists think that there is no God, and theists think that there is a God. Both claims are objective claims about the way the world is out there, and so both sides must furnish forth arguments and evidence as to how they are able to know what they are each claiming.

Philosopher William Lane Craig has some thoughts on atheism, atheists and lacking belief in God in this reply to a…

July 28, 2015 Christian Persecution Update

Considering Christ

By Rev. Colin Mercer – Posted at thinkGospel.com:

When John Huss was being put to death he was led to the suburbs of Constance to be burned at the stake. When he reached the place, wearing the paper “cap of blaspheme” he fell on his knees and began to chant Psalm 31. He looked steadfastly towards heaven and chanted verse 5: “Into thy hands O Lord! Do I commit my spirit, Thou hast redeemed me, O most good and faithful God.” When he finished quoting those words his persecutors put a chain around his waist and tied him to the stake. Huss responded to the chain with these words: “My Lord Jesus Christ was bound with a harder chain than this for my sake; why then should I be ashamed of this old rusty one?”

It is good to understand what John Huss was saying. In the midst of fierce and fatal persecution he lifted his thoughts heavenward and contemplated the greater suffering Christ had endured for him. …

North Korean Representative on Persecution of Christians: “Absolutely False”

ICC Note: It appears that this spokesperson for North Korea knows where his paycheck comes from.  Fortunately, added to the original report are some of the tweets and reports on the Internet on the well-documented abuses carried out by the North Korean regime against Christians.  And let’s not discount the personal testimonies of those who have risked their lives to escape from North Korea.

By staff reporter, Barcelona

07/27/2015 North Korea (Evangelical Focus)

The representative of Cultural Relations of North Korea with Foreign Countries, the Spaniard Alejandro Cao, has denied the fact that Christian believers are being persecuted under the regime of Kim Jong Un. Joel Forster (@joelfwal), editor of Evangelical Focus, asked Cao on Twitter about Christians being persecuted in North Korea. The regime’s delegate responded: “It is absolutely false. The problem in the world is that there are enlighted people like you who believe themselves to be representatives of God or even God”. In several other tweets, the representative of the Asian regime threw more personal attacks (“you are not a religious person but an activist of the USA”) and pointed at evangelical Christians: “You take advantage of drug addicts and homeless people to force them to become evangelists in exchange of a plate of soup.”

When asked about the possibility of the existance of a God who would make justice to those people suffering under the North Korean regime, Cao mockingly responded: “He [God] seems to be arriving late. We have been here for 70 years, and many more to come”. Cao is an official “special delegate” of the North Korean regime and has been the contact which has allowed some journalists to enter the hermetic country, always under strict vigilance. He has appeared on several tv and radio broadcasts defending the atrocities of his “beloved leader” Kim Jong Un and his predecessors, Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung. Therefore it is not a surprise that the special delegate defined the regime as “the closest to an ideal human society. Without drugs and prostitution. Where values are above money”.

‘There is No Solution Except Jihad in the Path of Allah’: Leader of Somali Terror Group Al-Shabaab Sends out Chilling Call for Fresh Wave of Terror Attacks Across East Africa

ICC Note:  The leader of al-Shabaab has encouraged Muslims in East Africa to help the cause of Jihad and “kill evil Christians”, according to reports.  According to emails, Ahmed Omar Abu-Ubeyda, the new leader of al-Shabaab, encouraged Muslims from Uganda, Djibouti, Ethiopia, and the Central African Republic to join the terror group.  Al-Shabaab is notorious for committing countless atrocities against civilians in Somalia and Kenya, often specifically targeting Christians.  In the attack on Garissa University in Kenya on April 2, al-Shabaab led an assault on the college campus, sparing Muslims while specifically murdering Christians.  The Somali-based terror organization was also responsible for the deadly attack on Westgate Mall in Nairobi in 2013.

By Jay Akbar

7/27/15, Kenya (Daily Mail) – The leader of Somali terror-group Al-Shabaab has urged Muslims in east-Africa to rise up against the ‘evil Christians’.

In an online statement obtained by MailOnline, Ahmed Omar Abu-Ubeyda told them to ‘migrate to the lands of Jihad’ and seek out battlefields all over the world.

He also welcomed the people of Ethiopia, Djibouti, Uganda and the dangerously unstable Central African Republic to come to Al-Shabaab’s terror training camps.

Ubeyda was appointed the group’s leader in September 2014 after Ahmed Abdi Godane was killed in a U.S. airstrike.

The extremist has made his first public statement since becoming the terror group’s chief in the new report called ‘Eid greetings to the Muslim ummah [community]’.

He justified Al-Shabaab’s cross-border attacks on Kenya in the hate-filled document by saying they were revenge for the ‘oppression and humiliation’ Muslims are facing in his own nation.

Hundreds of Pakistani Christian Women Raped and Forcibly Married and Converted to Islam

ICC Note:

A recent report details the extent to which Pakistani Christian and Hindu girls are forced into marriages with Muslims and then pressured to convert. According to the report, over 1,000 women from religious minority groups are abducted, raped, and forcibly married to their rapist as they are forcibly converted to Islam. This issue remains widespread in Pakistan and begets international attention.

7/28/2015 Pakistan (Christianity Today) – Every year, at least 1,000 Pakistani girls are forced into Muslim marriages and made to convert to Islam, according to a new report.

The ‘Forced Marriages and Inheritance Deprivation‘ report from the Karachi-based Aurat Foundation claims that between 100 and 700 Christian girls, and around 300 Hindu girls, are married forcibly each year and forced to convert to Islam.

It quotes statistics from the Movement for Solidarity and Peace Pakistan (MSP), which says that an additional 1,791 forced conversions took place between 2000 and 2012. More than 600 of those converted were originally Christians.

Director of the Aurat Foundation, Mahnaz Rehman, explained to Fides news agency that forced conversion and marriage is common in Pakistan, but is largely ignored by police and civil authorities.

Women face significant discrimination, particularly on a religious basis, she added. Those who are forced to marry are often threatened and pressurised by their husband and his family to declare that their conversion was voluntary, even if the case is taken to court.

When MSP first released its statistics last year, its investigation found that forced marriages usually follow a similar pattern: girls, often between the ages of 12 and 25, are abducted, made to convert to Islam, and then married to the abductor or an associate. If a complaint is filed, then “girls are held in custody by the abductors [until the hearing] and suffer all kinds of abuse and violence,” the Aurat Foundation states.

“These cases are never investigated seriously to shed light on the phenomenon and mechanism of the crime.”

However, many forced marriages go unreported because “women are considered and treated as repositories of family honour, whose defiance or disobedience is tantamount to public shame and humiliation,” and it is also often used as a cover for human trafficking.

Dying For Christianity: Millions At Risk Amid Rise In Persecution Across The Globe

ICC Note: The rate of persecution worldwide has risen dramatically according to organizations that monitor religious freedom around the globe. It is estimated that one in every ten Christians of the 2.2 billion Christians suffers some form of restriction or persecution. The crimes range from death and torture to general social exclusion and political restrictions.

07-27-2015 (The Guardian): Christians are facing growing persecution around the world, fuelled mainly by Islamic extremism and repressive governments, leading the pope to warn of “a form of genocide” and for campaigners to speak of “religio-ethnic cleansing”.

The scale of attacks on Christians in the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America has alarmed organisations that monitor religious persecution, with most reporting a significant deterioration in recent years.

On his recent trip to Latin America, Pope Francis said he was dismayed “to see how in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world many of our brothers and sisters are persecuted, tortured and killed for their faith in Jesus”. He went on: “In this third world war, waged piecemeal, which we are now experiencing, a form of genocide is taking place, and it must end.”

At Easter, the archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, the leader of the Anglican church, spoke of Christian “martyrs”. Christians were living under persecution in almost half of the 38 Anglican provinces worldwide, he said this month. “They fear for their lives every day.”

The Prince of Wales has described threats to Christians in the Middle East as “an indescribable tragedy”.

According to David Alton, a crossbench peer who campaigns on religious freedom, “some assessments claim that as many as 200 million Christians in over 60 countries around the world face some degree of restriction, discrimination or outright persecution”. That is about one in 10 of the 2.2 billion Christians in the world. Christianity remains the faith with the most adherents.

“Whatever the real figures the scale is enormous. From Syria, Iraq, Iran and Egypt to North Korea, China, Vietnam and Laos, from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, from Cuba, Colombia and Mexico to Eritrea, Nigeria and Sudan, Christians face serious violations of religious freedom,” Alton said. Persecution ranged from murder, rape and torture to repressive laws, discrimination and social exclusion.

Christians Under Pressure: From Bigotry At School To Imprisonment And Murder

ICC Note: The article focuses on the specific persecution in four different countries around the world. Each nation has its own forms of religious restrictions. In Egypt, Copts are often excluded from society and socially targeted for their beliefs. In Pakistan, blasphemy laws target Christians and end many believers in jail or on death row. In China the surveillance and communist atheist repression is very real but is also a driving force for the growth of the church. In Israel, there have been aimed and specific acts of terrorism and vandalism against churches in the historic land.

07-27-2015 Egypt/Pakistan/China/Israel (The Guardian):

Egypt: ‘It pushes you to feel disengaged’

As a boy growing up in a country where football is a national passion, Mina Fayek joined a youth programme at a local sports club in the wealthy Cairo neighbourhood of Heliopolis. He started training, but one day he overheard his coach make an offhand remark: no Christians would join the first team, or make it to the championships

“My parents and I knew this is not going anywhere, and I had to choose another game,” Fayek, 26, a software engineer and blogger, recalled. He tried handball and basketball, two sports seen as more acceptable for Egyptian Christians to play.

Fayek, an affable young man, believes his social status shielded him from the worst forms of persecution inflicted on poorer Egyptian Christians. Instead, he was subject to a more subtle form of discrimination: the sense that the highest echelons of power and status in his country were off limits because of his religion.

During his 13 months of compulsory military service, he trained soldiers and officers in computer skills. As a Coptic Christian, he knew he could never serve in the intelligence branch. No Christians sit on the supreme council of armed forces.

“It pushes you to feel disengaged from your country,” Fayek said. “How could someone maintain his love for his country – and be passionate about building it – while at the same time he can’t be whatever he wants to be, whether a military commander or a police commander.”

Egypt is home to the largest Christian community in the Middle East, with the Copts widely estimated to be about 10% of the population. The exact figure is a matter of dispute, with the government and Coptic church offering varying estimates. In spite of a history of cooperation between the church and the Egyptian state, Copts today say they face both official discrimination and the threat of violent attacks by militants.

‘Chanting Monks’ Deployed in Standoff over Cross Demolition in China’s Zhejiang

ICC Note:  This report demonstrates the length to which Zhejiang provincial authorities are going in order to carry out their campaign of cross removals and church demolitions.  The monks taking part in this confrontation should think twice about their involvement on the side of the government, particularly when Chinese authorities elsewhere in China are persecuting Buddhists.

By Yang Fan

07/27/2015 China (Radio Free Asia)

Officials in China’s eastern province of Zhejiang sent in monks to burn incense and chant Buddhist scriptures as a “provocation” as Christian believers faced off with a government-backed demolition gang intent on removing a large cross from the roof of their church, church members told RFA on Monday.

The monks came in and chanted prayers, burning incense at the door of the Jinjia’er church in Zhejiang’s Huzhou city, where believers had been staging a sit-in in the hope of blocking access by the demolition gang for several days, a church follower who asked not to be named told RFA.

“We are Protestant Christians, so by sending monks to chant sutras they were trying to get us riled up,” the Jinjia’er congregant said. “They blocked the main door, and they were detaining anyone who got physical with them on public order charges.”

“They were trying to make us angry so that we would retaliate against them. They think that anyone who opposes the government is a traitor, or someone trying to overturn the Communist Party,” he said.

President Xi Jinping warned Communist Party ideologues earlier this year that the development of religion in China, which is already closely controlled by an army of religious affairs officials, should be “independent of foreign influence.”

Citing the rapid expansion in Christian believers after churches began to re-open in the wake of the political turmoil of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), Xi has described religion is a tool that can easily be used “by hostile foreign forces.”

Will There Be a Future for Iraq’s Christians?

By Todd Daniels and Sandra Eliott

07/27/15 Washington, D.C. (International Christian Concern) – “There is horrible and uncontrolled violence and chaos [that is] leaving non-Muslim minorities like the Christians [in] fear for their lives…”

Joseph Kassab, President of Iraqi Christians Advocacy And Empowerment Institute (ICAE), explains that only two options remain for Christian in the region: either submit to the violence or flee to Kurdistan and neighboring countries.

The current generation has grown up in a world where Iraqi land is bloodstained and war-torn. Nevertheless, Iraq was once the home to some of the most tolerant and ethno-religiously diverse cultures in the world. The fabric of coexistence stitched together both monotheists and polytheists in an ancient land held dear by all living upon it. Yazidi shrines neighbored Christian sites and Mosques shared a land marked with tombs of Jewish prophets.

Sadly, we now face a new reality of sectarian hatred and radical jihadists that are intent on erasing all cultures other than their own.

Dim-Lit Future

Many forget that the Middle East was the birthplace of Christianity and, until recently, a large number still lived there. In 1947 Iraq was home to approximately 4.5 million Christians; in 2003 the figure stood close to 1.5 million. Today, however, the number of Christians in Iraq has tragically fallen to less than 200,000, with perhaps another 150,000 in the Kurdistan region.

Still more tragic are the conditions in which these 200,000 live. The majority of remaining Christians live in Baghdad, where recently, four Christian men were kidnapped by Islamic extremists.

Dr. Bashar Ghanem Al Akrawi, Saad Galyana Shaba, Qais Abd Shaya and Saher Hanna Sony were all kidnapped within two weeks of each other in early July. The former two were rescued and are well, while the latter two were both killed by their captors, despite their families having paid ransoms for their lives.

These types of abductions among other forms of criminality are sectarian based and carried out by powerful and armed militias. Christians have likewise had their homes and household goods stolen from them by means of falsified documents and government corruption.

These people face a dim lit future.

A Chaldean Patriarch in Iraq recently told Asia News that Christians are “fully fledged citizens of the state, and for hundreds and hundreds of years they have contributed to its civilization and its culture.” He appealed to the government authorities to protect the lives and property of these citizens in Baghdad.

Joseph Kassab contrastingly explained to ICC that this is not a problem that the Iraqi government will be able to easily resolve as the government itself is fragile and corrupt.

“There is no hope in this country”

Iraqi Christians, among other minorities, are suffering under dire circumstances with little to no help. Soon enough, their ancient presence in Iraq will no longer be. Bernan Petros, a Christian originally from Bartella, Iraq, told Rudaw News, “There is no hope in this country. We have no hope here. We are so tired of this situation, and now we are thinking of leaving–all Christians together–to seek another place in Europe.”

This is exactly what will happen unless the Western church acknowledges the reality of what is happening in the Middle East and acts to change it. There is an urgent need for security and aid, but even more important are the tools to restart life. If families are to choose to stay in Iraq they will require sources of income and opportunities for their children. These will be the building blocks for a new future.

We must realize that this is a war being waged against religious freedom, not just Iraqis. It is a war to drive out those who don’t adhere to the radical beliefs of ISIS or other extremists.

How many more fathers, sons, husbands and brothers need to be kidnapped and murdered before we stop turning a fearful blind eye to atrocity?

The Garissa Massacre: Stories from the Survivors

ICC Note:  Almost four months after the April 2 attacks on Garissa University, where al-Shabaab terrorists spared Muslim students and specifically targeted and killed Christian students, survivors of the attack recall in horror the events that unfolded that day.  In the aftermath of the attack, the students explained how several Christians now fear living on campus, and that tensions have been heightened between Muslim and Christian students.  Simon Kande, the chairman of FOCUS, has asked for prayers of healing and protection, while also praying to remain a powerful witnessing community for Christ at Garissa University.

7/25/15, Kenya (Christian Today) – “I heard gun shots at 5.50am and I managed to hide in the wardrobe for one and a half days. When I was rescued I found out my roommates did not survive. Because of my tiny wardrobe space, I was unable to walk for two weeks after that but I thank God for sparing my life” – Elsie Karemi.

The world was shocked when news of a massacre on a Kenyan university campus broke over the Easter weekend this year. What wasn’t widely reported was that many of the victims, like Elsie, were members of an evangelical student ministry called FOCUS.

The ministry began in the late 1950s, started by Christian faculty at the University of Nairobi. It is now working in 144 universities and higher education colleges. There are 68 staff, including 32 interns, and in total there are 42,000 students in the movement.

Garissa is in Northern Kenya and is the only university campus in that region. The FOCUS group there had 250 students involved, meeting for Bible study, prayer and praise. Like all the student Christian Unions in Kenya they hold their own Sunday services. In a Muslim dominated area both Muslims and Christians wake up early to pray. It was normal custom for CU members to meet at 5am for daily morning devotions.

Garissa’s Christians Told ‘Worship Here and You’ll Die’

ICC Note:  Nearly four months after al-Shabaab’s deadly assault on Kenyan Christians in Garissa, Kenya on April 2, local Christians remain fearful of further attacks.  The Garissa University attack claimed 148 lives while injuring dozens more.  During the attack, the insurgents spared Muslim students and specifically targeted and murdered Christians.  Due to continued threats, many Christians no longer find it safe to live and worship in Garissa.  In the face of fear and uncertainty though, some Christians refuse to leave their churches and homes in Garissa, risking their lives and safety in the face of potential future attacks.

7/26/15, Kenya (CNN) – Christians have come under repeated attacks in North Eastern Province in Kenya at the hands of Al-Shabaab militants who have killed hundreds.

It’s sunrise over the Tana River. Traffic starts to flow over the bridge and morning rush hour begins. What looks like the beginning of a normal workday here has a much darker undertone. Most of the commuters are day laborers, people going into their offices, but also many Christians who are too scared to sleep inside Garissa town. They have decided to move themselves and their families across to the other side of the river to safety.

We met Esther as she was crossing the bridge on foot on her way to work. She is a mother of three and a Christian. When we ask her why she decided to move her and her family out of town she tells us: “It is because of Al-Shabaab that I moved out of Garissa. You can be shot anytime while you are walking. Even when we’re at home they can just come from the bush.”

In April this year, hundreds of students at Garissa University in northern Kenya came under attack when Al-Shabaab militants from across the border in Somalia raided dormitories at the college. Separating Christian students from their Muslim classmates, the raiders killed 147 and wounded dozens more. Today, the university stands empty.

Indian Christians Forced to Choose Between Christ and Government Stipends

ICC Note:

Recently, Hindu nationalist organizations have escalated their efforts to convert Christians and other religious minorities to Hinduism. These efforts at proselytization are part of an ongoing campaign by Hindu nationalists against Christians. In violation of India’s constitution, Hindu nationalists have steered government welfare benefits away from Christians, pressuring them to convert to Hinduism in order to receive benefits. As Christians are disproportionately found in the poor Dalit class, the decision to stand firm in their faith exacerbates their economic misery.

7/27/2015 India (Christian Post) – A Hindu nationalist organization has converted 39 people from Dalit Christian families to Hinduism in a controversial ceremony aimed at making them eligible for a government benefits program.

“We are moving ahead with our initiative and more families from other religions will be reconverted to Hinduism soon. We are being approached by many people who want to come back to their original faith,” said Viswha Hindu Parishad Alappuzha District Chief Prathap G Padickal, according to the Times of India.
The “ghar wapsi” programme in Kerala’s Alappuzha district previously oversaw another 30 Dalit Christians convert to Hinduism in December 2014.

The Dalits, known as the “untouchables,” make up India’s lowest caste, and are eligible for certain government benefits if they identify as Hindus

International Christian Concern, which reports on persecution taking place in India, noted that Christians from such low caste backgrounds are often soft targets for Hindu nationalists, who are seeking to take advantage of the stipulation in the government benefits program and lure people of other faiths into Hinduism.

“In most cases, people from low caste backgrounds are afforded government stipends and advantages, but these stipends and advantages are denied to low caste people who are registered as Christians or Muslims in India,” ICC noted. “In many cases the allurement o these government stipends and advantages are enough to convince people to convert to Hinduism.”

Asia Bibi’s Fate Remains Uncertain Despite Upcoming Appeal

ICC Note:

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has agreed to hear an appeal filed by Asia Bibi regarding her blasphemy charge, which is punishable by death. Until the Court has heard the appeal, Bibi cannot be executed. Bibi’s case is one of the most high profile stories of religious freedom abuses emanating out of Pakistan. Despite both international and internal calls for reform, the prevalence of intolerance and extremism in Pakistan has stifled any meaningful efforts to reform the country’s infamous blasphemy laws.

7/27/2015 Pakistan (Gatestone Institute) – Pakistan’s authorities appear to have found a solution to at least one of their problems in the international arena: Aasiya Noreen — or “Asia Bibi” — a 50-year-old Christian woman and mother of five, who has been on death row for six years for allegedly insulting Muhammad.

Instead of executing Asia Bibi and further advertising to the international community that theirs is a savage and backwards nation — and instead of releasing her and provoking millions of angry Muslims to turn on the government and accuse it of supporting “apostasy” — Pakistan’s authorities appear to be letting time, wretched conditions, severe maltreatment, and beatings slowly kill her.

Recent reports state that she is deathly ill and “so weak she could hardly walk.” Mission Network News says that Asia Bibi has “internal bleeding, abdominal pain, and is vomiting blood. If she does not receive immediate medical care, she could die.”

China Aid President Testifies at Congressional-Executive Commission on China Hearing on Religious Persecution In China

ICC Note:  ICC cooperates with China Aid, specifically in support of the persecuted church in China.  This article details the testimony of China Aid president Bob Fu before Congress.

By Rachel Ritchie

07/24/2015 China (China Aid)

China Aid president and founder, Bob Fu, gave his testimony concerning religious freedom in China yesterday to the Congressional-Executive Commission on China in Washington, D.C.

Fu gave several recommendations during the hearing, titled “Religious with ‘Chinese Characteristics’: Persecution and Control in Xi Jinping’s China,” including the following for the United States Department of State:

• “The U.S. State Department should strongly consider posting an officer at the U.S. Embassy in China with the sole responsibility of reporting religious freedom and related human rights abuses in China, including the areas of Tibet and Xinjiang.”

• “The State Department should make an official public statement condemning this forced demolition of crosses and churches in Zhejiang and other areas of China. So far neither Secretary Kerry nor the spokesperson have issued even a public statement condemning this large, brutal, shameful campaign.”

• “The State Department should raise, publicly and at all levels of exchange with the Chinese government, the cases of prisoners of conscience, especially the China 18 and others. And I know you had led the campaign to urge President Obama to meet with the daughters of the China 18 multiple times. I think the excuse [of] not meeting with these family members in China is that it could pose a danger or [is] a potential threat. But how about here in the United States; there is no threat.”

Others that spoke at the hearing, led by Congressmen Chris Smith, (R-N.J.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), included Anastasia Lin, actress, human rights advocate and Miss World Canada 2015; Rebiya Kadeer, president of the World Uyghur Congress; and Losang Gyatso, service chief of Voice of America’s Tibetan service.

Fu’s full testimony, below, and the testimony of the other witnesses, along with a video of the hearing can be found here.

U.S. State Dept. Bars Christians from Testifying about Persecution: Muslim Persecution of Christians, May 2015

ICC Note:  The U.S. State Department has reportedly barred some Christians from testifying on Christian persecution occurring in predominantly Muslim countries, including Nigerian Governor Jonah David Jang.  Last year, after the U.S. Institute for Peace invited different Nigerian governors from northern majority-Muslim states for a conference, Governor Jang, the only Christian, had his visa denied by the State Department.  According to Nigerian human rights lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe, this is due to the anti-Christian bias that exists within the State Department and U.S. government as a whole. This ignorance and refusal to acknowledge Christian persecution in Nigeria may have serious implications for U.S. aid designed to assist Nigeria in combating Boko Haram.

By Raymond Ibrahim

7/24/15, Washington, D.C. (Gatestone Institute) – During the height of one of the most brutal months of Muslim persecution of Christians, the U.S. State Department exposed its double standards against persecuted Christian minorities.

Sister Diana, an influential Iraqi Christian leader, who was scheduled to visit the U.S. to advocate for persecuted Christians in the Mideast, was denied a visa by the U.S. State Department even though she had visited the U.S. before, most recently in 2012.

She was to be one of a delegation of religious leaders from Iraq — including Sunni, Shia and Yazidi, among others — to visit Washington, D.C., to describe the situation of their people. Every religious leader from this delegation to Washington D.C. was granted a visa — except for the only Christian representative, Sister Diana.

After this refusal became public, many Americans protested, some writing to their congressmen. Discussing the nun’s visa denial, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said:

The Truth about Bill Cosby

The Good Light Project

By now you have already heard and at least know someone who has heard about the allegations against comedian Bill Cosby. Reportedly, there are over thirty women who have accused the comedian of drugging them and raping them without their consent. The comedian has yet to be officially charged with a crime but already has incurred the judgment of the media, the public and especially those who support the alleged victims. By Mr. Cosby’s own admission there was a point in his life he was a chronic adulterer, avid drug user, and lived a lifestyle that reflected his celebrity. He has admitted, at least in one case, that the objective was to drug the female he was with in order to have sex with her. The statutory laws for accusing or charging someone with rape vary from state to state; in the case of Bill Cosby many of alleged…

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should step down

WINTERY KNIGHT

Mitch McConnell shaking hands with his buddy Obama Mitch McConnell shaking hands with his buddy Obama

I’ve just had it with this man, he is utterly useless as a Republican, and he is harming the brand with his kowtowing to the left.

The Daily Caller reports:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has never been a favorite of conservatives. Those who see him as a “squishy” compromiser more interested in placating President Barack Obama and K Street lobbyists than the Republican base had more fuel tossed on that fire when he blocked amendments to the Highway Bill Tea Party members wholeheartedly support.

One amendment would defund Planned Parenthood, the nationwide abortion provider which receives more than a half billion dollars in taxpayer subsidies annually. McConnell has previously said he supports defunding Planned Parenthood, which was recently the subject of undercover sting videos in which executives with the organization can be heard discussing the sale of organs from aborted babies…

Judgment at Christ’s return

Possessing the Treasure

by Mike Ratliff

(Philippians 3:18-19 NA28)

18 For many walk of whom often I was telling you, and now also weeping, I say, “They are the enemies of the cross of Christ, 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with their minds on earthly things.” (Philippines 3:18-19 translated from the NA28 Greek text)

When Christians understand their proper role in their relationship with their Saviour as that of a δοῦλος (slave) of the Κύριον ᾿Ιησοῦν Χριστόν (Lord Jesus Christ) then this whole Lordship Salvation debate just looks silly. We do not make Jesus Lord, He is Lord. Those whom He saves are His…
