What will God do with people who have never heard about Jesus?

WINTERY KNIGHT

I'm baby octopus, and I approve this message I’m baby octopus, and I approve this message

The baby octopus is there for no particular reason, because this is a theology post. Still, he is quite cute, don’t you think?

One of the most difficult questions for Christians to answer, especially when posed by adherents of other religions, is the question of what happens to those who have never heard of Jesus? In this post, I will explain how progress in the field of philosophy of religion has given us a possible (and Biblical) solution to this thorny question.

First, Christianity teaches that humans are in a natural state of rebellion against God. We don’t want to know about him, and we don’t want him to have any say in what we are doing. We just want to appropriate all the gifts he’s given us, do whatever we want with them, and then have eternal bliss after we die…

Documenting Planned Parenthood Lies that They Provide Mammograms

The Domain for Truth

pinocchio

Life News has a story “Out of 8,735 Licensed Mammogram Facilities in the United States, Planned Parenthood Runs 0.”  If one were to search on the FDA’s directory on certified facilities that does mammograms there will not be any facilities operated by Planned Parenthood.  So much for the lies that Planned Parenthood provides Mammograms.  I think this should teach us that we need to be careful even accepting their other statistics given their history of lies.

Just in case some people might say that no one ever said Planned Parenthood claimed to have provided Mammograms except for prolifers here’s some proofs that Planned Parenthood and their supporters did advance this lie.

(Denver, Colorado) — President Obama is making a hard-sell to build public and Congressional support for the Iran nuclear deal. But he’s face far stiffer resistance than he or his political team expected.

  • The latest polls show the American people oppose the deal 2 to 1 — and the more they learn of the details, the more opposed they become.
  • Key Democrats in in the House and Senate are suddenly breaking with the President and declaring their opposition to the deal.
  • The Canadian government has come out against the deal.
  • Israeli leaders — both the government and the head of the opposition — are against the deal, as are 74% of the Israeli people.
  • Arab leaders…

The Sabbath As A Bulwark Against Satan’s Kingdom

The Reformed Reader

Westminster Larger Catechism: A Commentary God gave his people the Sabbath for their good.  It was a day on which they could rest their bodies from physical labor and refresh their hearts and minds by remembering his works of creation and redemption (Ex. 20:8-13, Deut. 5:12-15).  J. G. Vos asks a good question – and answers it well in his commentary on the 4th commandment:

Q: Why does Satan, with  his servants, try so hard to break down and destroy the Sabbath day?

A: Satan, with his agents and citizens of his kingdom, is engaged in an age-long warfare against God and God’s kingdom.  God’s kingdom is a spiritual kingdom, and it is defended and propagated by spiritual weapons and methods.  The real extension of God’s kingdom depends on people’s being converted to Christ, repenting of their sins, and loving and serving God sincerely and loyally.  These things depend chiefly upon the preaching of…

Chattanooga Officer Won’t Be Charged

2015-08-06-fd3f3a21_large.png

Lt. Cmdr. Tim White, the U.S. Navy officer who returned fire at the jihadi in the attack in Chattanooga, will not face charges, the Navy said Wednesday, contrary to some earlier reports. Military bases were on high alert at the time of the attack, and it’s possible White was viewed as taking his own initiative as the commanding officer. Such officers have more discretionary ability than their personnel do. As Mark Alexander noted, while the Navy will not be bringing charges against White, this does not preclude some other disciplinary action against him, and we will keep you posted. The ban on firearms at military installations is foolish and absurd, and given that Lt. Cmdr. White’s actions were heroic and saved lives we certainly hope the JAG review will determine no grounds for disciplinary action.

In related news, the FBI has issued an alert regarding threats to U.S. military families in Colorado and Wyoming. Reports indicate intimidation and harassment by “Middle Eastern males” has been a problem in the first half of this year. But we have an administration (and complicit media) more concerned with political correctness than identifying and countering the radical Islamic threat. Threatened families in Colorado should contact the FBI Fort Collins Resident Agency at (970) 663-1028. In Wyoming, contact the FBI Cheyenne Resident Agency at (307) 632-6224.

Obama’s Clean Power Plan Targets Coal Industry

And just like that, the Obama administration assumes the kind of power that controls whole segments of the U.S. economy. Again. The Clean Power Plan will more than decimate the coal industry, as an American Action Forum report finds that this regulation will close 66 power plants, destroy 125,800 jobs and slash the coal industry by 48% by 2030. You’d think Americans would want some kind of input through Congress on a government decree of that scope, but that’s the creep of regulation for you. Already, the coal industry has lost 47,500 jobs since the beginning of Obama’s term. “These troubling figures are also static, one-time snapshots at industry employment,” writes AAF Director of Regulatory Policy Sam Batkins. “They hardly capture the true economic costs to the region and the local community of losing so many jobs so quickly. The PricewaterhouseCoopers study implying that one energy job supports 3.7 additional jobs hints at the total economic damage, but remaking an entire industry in one administration is no small feat.” But, to Obama, those union jobs are just collateral damage on his way to appease the envirofascists.

Sometimes, People Are Punished for Sending Classified Email

Here’s an interesting contrast. On the one hand, we have a Marine officer who argues he was trying to warn of dire consequences and was subsequently punished for communicating classified material via an unclassified email network. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton — for no other reason than political expediency — appears to have routinely communicated similarly sensitive (and probably even more important) information via unclassified means and thinks she’s above reproach. Her lawyer’s recent claim that “nothing she sent was marked as classified” is about par for her defense. Of course it wasn’t marked as classified, since emails generated and circulated on unclassified networks — particularly personally operated ones — don’t even allow the option of choosing a classified label, unlike the classified networks that allow you to chose anything from “unclassified” up to the highest clearance for that network (usually “secret” with caveats). That said, while the comparison is instructive, we’re not particularly sympathetic to the Marine major. There’s probably more to the story and we don’t believe a panel of officers would arbitrarily seek to “retaliate” against him (as he alleges) because of his views. If they recommended discharge, he likely communicated more than just a warning of a potential threat. Just as Hillary almost certainly communicated more sensitive or classified information (not just documents) than she’ll ever admit.

FEATURED RIGHT ANALYSIS

Obama’s Far Tougher on Political Opponents Than Iran

By Dan Gilmore

2015-08-06-d0fcc82c_large.jpg

In the 1980s, the federal government’s nuclear energy program created a problem. In places like the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico, the government disposed its nuclear waste underground. Like any dump, it would eventually be sealed up and abandoned. But unlike a candy wrapper or a broken toaster, nuclear waste leaks radiation for hundreds of thousands of years before it reaches half-life. In the meantime, the government would post signs warning people away.

But what would the warning signs mean to humans 10,000 years in the future? Language evolves. Symbols change meaning. What could they use to communicate the danger that lay beneath? The urgency to warn future generations created a field called “nuclear semiotics.”

Contrast that to the flippancy with which Barack Obama approaches the Iranian deal supposedly ensuring nonproliferation of nuclear weapons.

Obama visited American University Wednesday to lobby for the Iran nuclear deal before jetting off to a Martha’s Vineyard vacation. He was ostensibly aiming to give the handful of undecided lawmakers something to think about over their August recess, but he didn’t appear to be interested in persuading anyone.

“After two years of negotiations, we have achieved a detailed arrangement that permanently prohibits Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon,” Obama said. Except his Iran deal makes two assumptions irreconcilable with human nature: That Iran doesn’t want the bomb and that weak-kneed bureaucratic oversight is a sufficient deterrent.

Iran agreed to halt nuclear research, allow some inspections and dispose of some of its nuclear reserves for 15 years in exchange for the lifting the economic sanctions levied against it. Iran will receive about $150 billion in sanctions relief over the next 16 months, which the mullahs probably aren’t going to use on education or building bridges.

Obama was divisive. To him, you either favor his deal, or you want “some sort of war.” It’s “not just the best choice among alternatives,” he boasted, “this is the strongest non-proliferation agreement ever negotiated.” Thanks to him, a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

No, sanctions are the alternative, not war.

If the deal falls apart, he warned, then Iran will have no check on its development of nuclear weapons. If lawmakers approve the deal, he promised, then Iran will comply. The world will be safe, he assures. He also told us if we liked our health insurance plan we could keep it.

We certainly know what Obama thinks of the domestic dissenters to his plan. “Many of the same people who argued for the war in Iraq are now making the case against the Iran nuclear deal,” Obama said. It’s more of the politically hostile, take-no-prisoners approach we’ve come to expect from this executive. His administration will sweat it out for two years across the table from Iran, but when it comes to people that have taken the same oath of office, the knives come out.

For Obama, the debate over this deal comes down to the enlightened moderates and the extremists. “Just because Iranian hardliners chant ‘death to America’ does not mean that that’s what all Iranians believe,” he lectured. “In fact, it’s those hardliners who are most comfortable with the status quo. It’s those hardliners chanting ‘death to America’ who have been most opposed to the deal. They are making a common cause with the Republican caucus.”

Not only is this a frighteningly new rhetorical low for Obama, Charles Krauthammer explains, “what is even worse here is how delusional he is.” Obama “is pretending that those who chant death to America are some kind of KKK fringe in Iran,” Krauthammer elaborated. “The people leading the chant are the Revolutionary Guard, the army, the parliamentary leaders and of course … the supreme leader himself in a speech he made just a few days after the signing of the agreement.”

This is the best Obama the Great Orator can muster. This is the speech that is supposed to highlight his legacy and mastery of politics. Seven years from when an Illinois senator wowed audiences, he’s reduced to conniving pot shots. The peace prize winner is virtually promising war. But then again, he’s not aiming for Republican support, or even skeptical Democrats — all he needs is a third of the House and Senate to back his deal.

Obama admits his deal isn’t perfect. Israel hates it. As for the billions of dollars released after the lifting of sanctions, he concedes, “[L]et’s stipulate that some of that money will flow to activities that we object to.” That would be supporting the terrorists of Hezbollah and Syria’s Assad regime, and generally extending Iranian hegemony. But what’s funding a little terrorism when Obama’s legacy is at stake?

And, by the way, the people getting that $150 billion are the people chanting “death to America.”

While Obama was strong-arming for his deal, Michael Singh, managing director of The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, was testifying to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about it. Nuclear weapons development needs three things, Singh said: The ability to create fuel, a program to develop the weapons and a way to deliver the bomb to ground zero. Obama’s deal allows Iran to continue to enrich uranium, and it does nothing to curb the nation’s ballistic missile program. Furthermore, programs to develop the bomb “tend to be secretive by their very nature.”

Obama leaves America and the rest of the world with scant assurance that Iran will not pursue the bomb. For nonproliferation to hold, Iran has to have no desire for the weapon and the international community must be extremely vigilant for any violations.

In fact, the U.S. intelligence community says Iran is already sanitizing its military site at Parchin, a facility suspected of nuclear activity. And the State Department apparently has no idea what’s going on.

Obama made much in his speech about the courage it takes to pursue peace. But this isn’t courage; it’s the gripes and lectures of a petulant narcissist in pursuit of a legacy.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Victor Davis Hanson: “There are lots of strange paradoxes in the current frenzied liberal dissection of past sins. One, a historic figure must be near perfect in all dimensions of his or her complex life to now pass progressive muster. That [Thomas] Jefferson is responsible for helping to establish many of the cherished human rights now enshrined in American life apparently cannot offset the transgression of having owned slaves. Two, today’s moral standards are always considered superior to those of the past. Ethical sense supposedly always improves with time. However, would American society of 1915 have allowed a federally supported agency such as Planned Parenthood to cut apart aborted fetuses to sell infant body parts? … The past is not simplistic ‘gotcha’ melodrama in which we convict figures of history by tabulating their sins on today’s moral scorecards. Instead, history is tragedy. It is complex. Moral assessments are dicey. With some humility, we must balance past and current ethical standards, as well as the elements of the good and the bad present in every life. And we must avoid cheap, politicized moralizing that often tells us more about the ethics and ignorance of today’s grand inquisitors than the targets of their inquisitions.”

SHORT CUTS

Insight: “The task of weaning various people and groups from the national nipple will not be easy. The sound of whines, bawls, screams and invective will fill the air as the agony of withdrawal pangs finds voice.” —columnist Linda Bowles (1952-2003)

Alpha Jackass: “I know it’s easy to play on people’s fears, to magnify threats, to compare any attempt at diplomacy to Munich. But none of these arguments hold up. They didn’t back in 2002 and 2003; they shouldn’t now. The same mindset, in many cases offered by the same people who seem to have no compunction with being repeatedly wrong, led to a war that did more to strengthen Iran, more to isolate the United States than anything we have done in the decades before or since.” —Barack Obama

Demo-gogues: “I recognize that Prime Minister Netanyahu disagrees — disagrees strongly. I do not doubt his sincerity. But I believe he is wrong. I believe the facts support this deal. I believe they are in America’s interest and Israel’s interest. And as President of the United States, it would be an abrogation of my constitutional duty to act against my best judgment simply because it causes temporary friction with a dear friend and ally.” —Barack Obama (This from the man who thought exchanging jihadi terrorists for deserter Bowe Bergdahl was good judgment.)

The BIG lie: “Let me just tell you this. We have talked to the experts. There is no way to hide your development of a nuclear bomb.” —Dick Durbin (He’s right. Once it explodes, the whole world knows it.)

Non Compos Mentis: “I don’t know [if Iran wants to wipe Israel off the map]. … They’ve signed on to an agreement where they say they’ll never try and make [a nuclear bomb] and we have a mechanism in place where we can prove that. So I don’t want to get locked into that debate. I think it’s a waste of time here.” —John Kerry

And last… “Hillary Clinton is having a bad week. Actually, we’ve discerned an emerging pattern: Every time a week has seven days, it turns out to be bad for Mrs. Clinton.” —James Taranto

Barack Obama, Israel And Iran All Warn That World War 3 Could Be Coming To The Middle East

Obama Mystery Demon - Kenya CitizenTVWill we soon see World War 3 erupt in the Middle East?  Even though Barack Obama has made a “peace deal” with Iran, leaders in the region sure are talking a lot about war.  And of course this “deal” is on very shaky ground.  The Israelis hate it, a significant portion of the U.S. Congress hates it, and the Iranians have already been accused of breaking the agreement.  The odds of this “deal” holding up over the long term appear to be somewhere between slim and none.  But even if this deal does survive, that does not mean that everything will be okay in the Middle East.  In fact, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is convinced that Obama’s deal with Iran will actually “lead to war”(Read More…)

You Can Add Iraq And Ukraine To The List Of Economies That Are Collapsing

Earth Blue Planet - Public DomainThe list of nations around the globe that have collapsing economies just continues to grow.  In recent weeks I have written about the ongoing saga in Greece, the stock market crash in China, the debt crisis in Puerto Rico and the economic meltdown in South America.  But there are more economic flashpoints that I have not even addressed yet.  For example, did you know that a full-blown economic collapse is happening in Iraq right now?  And did you know that the economy of Ukraine is contracting rapidly and that it cannot pay its debts?  Back in 2008, the financial crisis was primarily centered on the United States, but this time around it is turning out to be a truly global phenomenon. In Obama’s Washington it is now open season on Israel and its supporters

It was obvious the fight over President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran would get very ugly, very quickly. And so it has.

It was obvious that it would be ugly because the fight over Obama’s appeasement policy toward Iran has been going on since he took office six-and-a-half years ago. And it has always been ugly.

Obama Flooding American Labor Force With 1 Million Alien Worker Permits Annually

Posted: 06 Aug 2015 07:34 AM PDT

THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION HAS ISSUED MORE THAN 7.4 MILLION WORK PERMITS TO FOREIGN NATIONALS FROM 2009 – 2014, BEYOND THE APPROXIMATELY ONE MILLION LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENTS AND 700,000 FOREIGN GUEST WORKERS ADMITTED TO THE U.S. EACH YEAR.

In written responses to the Senate Judiciary Immigration and the National Interest Subcommittee Republicans obtained by Breitbart News, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services reveal that the Obama administration has been approving work authorizations for immigrants beyond admission limits and for some categories of immigrants that Congress never intended to work in the U.S.Beyond those limits each year, these new and renewed work permit approvals amounted to about 1.23 million in fiscal year 2009, 1.08 million in FY 2010, 970,277 in FY 2011, 1.24 million in FY 2012, 1.68 million in FY 2013 and 1.24 million in FY 2014. Is Divorce an Unpardonable Sin in the Kingdom of God?

Posted: 06 Aug 2015 07:24 AM PDT

A few years ago, I was listening to a syndicated Christian radio program. A survivor of the holocaust was being interviewed. She described the horrific conditions of the concentration camps and then made a statement I’d never forget. She described the emotional pain and the brokenness she experienced from her divorce as greater than the pain of the concentration camp.

Six months later, another guest on the same program described the pain of losing her husband to cancer. She spoke about how his illness devastated their lives after ten long months of suffering. I was again moved to hear her say that she would have rather lost her husband to death by cancer than divorce. Unbelievable! Two different women who had gone through more pain than many of us will ever know said that divorce is, or would be, more painful than death. My mind searched for understanding … why was divorce more devastating than a concentration camp, or cancer? FULL REPORT

Massive, ‘incredibly thick’ toxic algae bloom in Pacific now stretches from California to Alaska

Posted: 06 Aug 2015 05:47 AM PDT

A vast bloom of toxic algae off the West Coast is denser, more widespread and deeper than scientists feared even weeks ago, according to surveyors aboard a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research vessel. This coastal ribbon of microscopic algae, up to 64 kilometres wide and 200 metres deep in places, is flourishing amid unusually warm Pacific Ocean temperatures. It now stretches from at least California to Alaska and has shut down lucrative fisheries. Shellfish managers on Tuesday doubled the area off Washington’s coast that is closed to Dungeness crab fishing, after finding elevated levels of marine toxins in tested crab meat.

So-called “red tides” are cyclical and have happened many times before, but ocean researchers say this one is much larger and persisting much longer, with higher levels of neurotoxins bringing severe consequences for the Pacific seafood industry, coastal tourism and marine ecosystems. Dan Ayres, coastal shellfish manager for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, said the area now closed to crab fishing includes more than half the state’s 252-km-long coast, and likely will bring a premature end to this year’s coastal crab season. Kerry ‘Doesn’t Know’ if Iran is Serious about Destroying Israel

Posted: 06 Aug 2015 05:42 AM PDT

US Secretary of State John Kerry has claimed the nuclear deal signed with Iran is “as pro-Israel as it gets,” and claims he “doesn’t know” if the Iranian leadership is serious about destroying the State of Israel. The comments were made in an in-depth interview with The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, which was published Wednesday following intense lobbying for and against the deal as it heads to a fateful vote in Congress.

Kerry warned Goldberg that if Congress voted down the agreement it would “be the ultimate screwing” of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. “The ayatollah constantly believed that we are untrustworthy, that you can’t negotiate with us, that we will screw them. This will be the ultimate screwing,” said Kerry. “He will not come back to negotiate. Out of dignity, out of a suspicion that you can’t trust America. America is not going to negotiate in good faith. It didn’t negotiate in good faith now, would be his point.”

Kerry also claimed such an eventuality would lead to “moderate” Iranian leaders like President Hassan Rouhani being in “big trouble” for failing to secure a deal. The Obama administration regularly refers to Rouhani as a “moderate,” despite the fact that under his watch support for regional terrorism has increased, and the number of executions of political prisoners has skyrocket to record levels. Obama Says Israel Stands Alone against Iran Deal

Posted: 06 Aug 2015 05:32 AM PDT

US President Barack Obama delivered a live address to the American public Wednesday, urging them to support the recently-signed deal with Iran over its nuclear program – and to lobby their members of Congress to vote for it at an upcoming vote. Obama began and ended citing former President John F. Kennedy, noting his role in facing down the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

“Less than 20 years after the end of World War Two, the prospect of nuclear war was all too real. With all the threats we face today it’s hard to appreciate how dangerous the world was. “Strength, in his view, included powerful armed forces and a willingness to stand up for our values around the world, but he rejected the prevailing opinion among many security experts which claimed security relied on a constant war footing.” FULL REPORT

“The Market is Uniquely Crash-Prone”: Experts Fear Financial Collapse Imminent

Will there be a financial collapse in the United States before the end of 2015? An increasing number of respected financial experts are now warning that we are right on the verge of another great economic crisis. Of course that doesn’t mean that it will happen. Experts have been wrong before. But without a doubt, red flags are popping up all over the place and things are lining up in textbook fashion for a new financial crisis.

As I write this article, U.S. stocks have declined four days in a row, the Dow is down more than 750 points from the peak of the market in May, and one out of every five U.S. stocks is already in a bear market. I fully expect the next several months to be extremely chaotic, and I am far from alone. The following are 8 financial experts that are warning that a great financial crisis is imminent…MORE

FBI investigation of Hillary’s emails is ‘Criminal Probe’

Posted: 05 Aug 2015 07:06 PM PDT

The FBI investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s unsecured e-mail account is not just a fact-finding venture — it’s a criminal probe, sources told The Post on Wednesday. The feds are investigating to what extent Clinton relied on her home server and other private devices to send and store classified documents, according to a federal source with knowledge of the inquiry.

“It’s definitely a criminal probe,” said the source. “I’m not sure why they’re not calling it a criminal probe. “The DOJ [Department of Justice] and FBI can conduct civil investigations in very limited circumstances,” but that’s not what this is, the source stressed. “In this case, a security violation would lead to criminal charges. Maybe DOJ is trying to protect her campaign.” FULL REPORT

US pledges to defend Israel if Iran attacks, Or will they?

Posted: 05 Aug 2015 03:48 PM PDT

The United States will defend Israel in the case of an Iranian attack against it, a senior American defense official said Monday, asserting Israel’s right to self-defense and the administration’s commitment to the Jewish state’s military superiority in the Middle East.

The administration respects Israel’s right to self-defense and will continue to ensure the Jewish state’s qualitative military edge, the official told Israeli reporters, arguing that the nuclear deal that the US and five world powers signed with the Islamic Republic last month will make an Israeli military attack less probable.“We have an ally relationship. The word ‘ally’ means something to us. It means that if you are attacked, we will defend you. That is what an ally relationship means… We use that term sparingly,” the senior defense official said. Obama Flooding American Labor Force With 1 Million Alien Worker Permits Annually

Citizenship and Immigration Services reveal that the Obama administration has been approving work authorizations for immigrants beyond admission limits and for some categories of immigrants that Congress never intended to work in the U.S.

obama-flooding-american-labor-force-with-1-million-alien-worker-permits

Green card holders and foreign nationals on guest worker visas do not need work authorizations.

Beyond those limits each year, these new and renewed work permit approvals amounted to about 1.23 million in fiscal year 2009, 1.08 million in FY 2010, 970,277 in FY 2011, 1.24 million in FY 2012, 1.68 million in FY 2013 and 1.24 million in FY 2014.

Such categories of immigrants that received permits include: Illegal immigrants granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, immigrants granted Temporary Protective Status (TPS), spouses of guest workers, various types of foreign students, immigrants granted voluntary departure, parolees, as well as asylees and refugees.

The data comes on the heels of a Center for Immigration Studies report, authored by expert Jessica Vaughan, which also revealed 7.4 million excess work permits issued in what she described as a “parallel immigrant work authorization system outside the numerical limits and categories set by Congress.”

Vaughan’s data obtained, via a Freedom of Information Act request, yielded different categories of immigrants. USCIS explained in its response that the new data is an update to the data provided in the FIOA.

Of the updated data, Vaughan explained to Breitbart News that the numbers show the Obama administration has been “abusing what should be considered very limited authority to issue work permits.”

When Vaughan’s report broke earlier this year, the chairman of the immigration subcommittee, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), called for an investigation.

“This massive increase in the labor supply has occurred simultaneously with a steep drop in family incomes and a sharp rise in the number of Americans pushed out of the workforce. All jobs gains since the recession have gone to foreign workers, while the slack labor market has depressed median family incomes almost $5,000 in that time,” he said at the time. source

Only Two Religions!

I don’t know if you know this but there are only two religions in the entire world.

You might say I’m nuts.  There are hundreds if not thousands!

wearing masksBut there is one religion that likes to put on hundreds if not thousands of different masks on, and so ultimately there are only two: the religion of Human Achievement and the religion of Divine Accomplishment.

You see Islam, Mormonism, Buddhism, Catholicism, Judaism and every single religion that you have ever heard of, ultimately teaches some form of a works-based salvation. They say that you have to be a little more good than bad in order to make it to heaven. These religions encourage you to hand God a resume when you face Him one day. The resume will be filled with all your accomplishments. It will list everything you’ve done for other people, every penny you’ve given to charity and every good deed you’ve done. God will look over this resume and say, “Good job! You’ve made it into heaven”.

The problem is that if you were to enter into heaven because of a resume based on your accomplishments God would get no glory; you would be the one who gets all the praise. In fact, Ephesians 2:9 would say that salvation is not of works lest you patting-self-on-back-1should boast! Genesis chapter one shows us that God created the entire universe including you. Everything He created is designed to bring Him glory. The problem is that sin has entered the world, and from birth we all have replaced exalting God with exalting ourselves. Everything we do from birth is geared towards bringing us glory and bringing praise to ourselves. We all have a throne in our hearts that God should be sitting and reigning on, but instead we are born with ourselves sitting on it. We are so used to it we don’t even notice it to the point where we all think that our resumes are good enough to get us into heaven.

my mom thinks im coolOf course we are going to think that we are good people! Of course my mom is going to tell me I’m a good person! But what does your Creator think? He says in Romans 3:23 that we all have sinned and fall short of His glory. He also says in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death. So if we stand before God and start listing accomplishments or hand Him a resume we might as well slap Jesus in the face because God is going to look at the resume and say, “I killed my only Son because you were not good enough to get to me!”

And that’s where the only other religion comes in.

The religion of Divine Accomplishment. God saw your situation, and decided that since man was so sinful and could not save himself, that He would come Himself and take the form of a man. He humbled himself, spent nine months in a womb he created, grew up with every temptation you and I face every day, but without sinning. He then died on the cross for our sins, and then rose from the dead and defeated death. He made it possible for human beings to stand before God one day and not hand Him a resume and condemn themselves further, but rather, tell God that they deserve His wrath but have placed their faith and trust in the work that Jesus did on their behalf on the cross and through His resurrection.

You see we need someone to be a substitute for us because no matter how hard we try, we can never bridge the gap between God and us. And the substitute can’t be merely a human.  It must be God Himself.

Do you see the difference between Christianity and every other religion?

“My Last Day” — the Jesus Anime

9 powerful minutes of animation that begins with a thief behind bars watching the scourging of Jesus, and it ends with the thief dying next to Jesus, and waking to see Him in a beautiful place.

The dying thief: What was so great about his faith?

There are many acts of extraordinary faith in the Bible. The one that has impressed me the most concerns the dying thief on the cross. We could take the approach that he had nothing to lose, so he decided to cast his lot with Jesus. But this makes absolutely no sense of the text and the context.
In this conversion we have a specific fulfillment of Christ’s first words on the cross. No sooner had Christ spoken the words, “Father, forgive them,” had the Father answered that prayer by turning a once-reviling criminal into a Christ-glorifying saint. While the soon-to-be converted criminal was not directly responsible for Christ’s death, he nevertheless joined with those who were and was thus indirectly addressed when Christ asked for God to forgive “them.”
Christ, the sinless one, was numbered with or counted among the transgressors (Isa. 53:12; Luke 22:37), all of whom have a bigger problem than the day-to-day sins they commit. They hate Christ, the God-man. Anyone who has a master other than the Lord Jesus hates him (Lk. 16:13; Gal. 4:8). That these two criminals loathed him is clearly manifested during the crucifixion: “And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way” (Matt. 27:44).
When the criminal who was converted was doing his worst against Christ, Christ was doing his best for this criminal.
The conversion of the one criminal was most extraordinary and testifies to the power of Christ’s prayer and the grace of God. Why?
This criminal’s faith did not come at a time such as when Christ turned water into wine; or performed miracles, such as walking on water, opening the eyes of a blind man, or raising Lazarus from the dead. No! The criminal believed on the Messiah while he was hanging as one cursed upon a tree. The criminal trusted in and boldly defended the one whose disciples had abandoned him. Jesus was at his lowest when this criminal asked to be remembered in Christ’s kingdom.
When he was on the cross, did anyone publicly cry out, as John the Baptist did, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn. 1:29)? But this is essentially what the dying thief did. Little wonder, then, that Christ should promise him a place in his kingdom: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (Lk. 23:43).
The criminal acknowledged he was guilty; he acknowledged that Christ was not (“this man has done nothing wrong”); he feared God; but, and here is the key: the criminal did not merely want to be in a better place. He wanted to be with Christ in a better place: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Lk. 23:42). The criminal believed “against all hope”.
Heaven is a better place because that is where Christ is. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but not everyone wants to go to Christ’s heaven. Not so with this criminal: he saw, with his eyes, Christ at his worst; but with the eyes of faith, he believed that Christ would soon be at his best, and so put his faith in a dying king.
Christ is always – always! – willing to save even the most miserable of sinners. A recognition of guilt (Lk. 23:40) and a confidence in him and not ourselves (Lk. 23:42) will always lead to the most assuring truth a sinner can receive: the Savior welcomes such into his paradise!
“One is saved, and we may not despair; the other is lost, and we may not presume.” Spurgeon

Planned Parenthood, faced with a renewed push for federal defunding (to the tune of a half-billion dollars), has begun a public relations campaign of its own. As of Friday, two ads had been released, each featuring a breast-cancer survivor who says she wouldn’t have survived without the health care she received from the organization.

The Purpose Of Pornography

Perhaps our obsession with sex is not really an obsession with sex at all. Perhaps it is really an obsession with death, to be avoided by remaining perpetually young or by tricking ourselves by sexual athletics into thinking that we do so. Yet whatever the aesthetics, sexual activity as a means for preserving the myth of eternal youth is always going to involve the law of diminishing returns and thus ironically prove a powerful witness to its own falsehood. It really does not matter how many orgasms you have, or how intense they are, you are still going to die.

If your church community is not yet competent at making disciples who can make disciples, please don’t send your members out on mission until you have a growing sense of confidence in your ability to train, equip and disciple them.

Abortion and the Good Samaritan

Just what will it take to get Christians to wake up to one of the greatest moral evil evils of our age, and finally do something about it? I refer of course to abortion and the slaughter of the innocents. There are some 45-50 million unborn babies killed every year, but most Christians don’t seem to give a rip.

We need to arouse ourselves from our stupor and make a stand for the unborn. We all have a role to play in this. I am trying to do my bit to raise awareness, stand for life, and encourage others to get involved. This will be my 284th article on abortion, and in a few months I hope to have a book out on this vital topic.

Some would claim that abortion is not a gospel issue. I of course disagree – big time. It most certainly is. The sanctity of life is at the very heart of the God with whom we have to do. How can we claim to represent our loving God yet not stand for life and resist those who would slaughter so many millions of innocent lives?

good samaritanI often think about how I might get believers to wake up to their important calling in this area. It occurred to me recently that the parable that Jesus gave us about the Good Samaritan would clearly fit in here. I am sure others may well have made this linkage, but none come to mind just at the moment.

So here is my take on it. The word of God is of course inspired and authoritative, so I intend no disrespect here, but this modern adaptation involving the abortion issue may not be amiss. It is a slight paraphrase which I think is fitting and appropriate.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan is found in only one of the four gospels. You can find it in Luke 10:25-37. Here is my modern version of this great teaching by Jesus:

Browse Worthy: The Drumbeat Continues Against PP

Now the fifth video by the Center for Medical Progress has come out, and it just adds to the incriminating case against Planned Parenthood as whole body fetus sales are coldly discussed (Note: YouTube has added a content warning to this video.)

Planned Parenthood: 4 Ways to Respond – Tim Challies discusses these videos and offers what the title states.  He also re-posted the following slideshow that will help you learn to make what is known as the SLED pro-life argument, a simple way to use comparative analogies to show the illogical ethics of abortion supporters.

Pro-Lifers Are Today’s Abolitionists – This article at The Federalist reminds us of the history of William Wilberforce’s long-term battle to end the institution of slavery in Great Britain and its similarities with the fight against the abortion industry today.

Planned Parenthood: Our Wilberforce Moment – In light of the videos, Joel Howerton offers ten reasons to support the above comparison.  The best line from this article are these words:

Abortion is the evil reverse-image of the gospel. Instead of “I’ll die for you“, it says, “You die for me.

Weighing in on Planned Parenthood – Over at 3GT, Austin, Kyle, and I discuss the question, “Are these Planned Parenthood videos our ‘Wilberforce Moment’?”

10 Reasons Pornography Has Power

I suspect most if not all of the readers of this post know somebody who has struggled with pornography. From the teenager struggling with new desires to the senior pastor recently caught in sin, even believers wrestle with this sin. Perhaps if we understand why pornography has so much power, we would know better how to fight against it.

  1. The church is often reticent to talk about sexuality. Despite the fact that the Bible addresses the issue, we tend to neglect it. Consequently, believers hear the wrong voices about sexuality, miss the beauty of God-centered sexuality, and settle for much less than what God intends.
  2. In general, churches fail to make disciples. Solid Christian discipleship teaches believers how to adore God, wear His armor, and reject the Enemy’s temptations. In too many churches, sexuality “discipleship” is limited to condemnation without godly teaching. The result is believers who are ill equipped to fight temptation and too afraid to confess their sin.
  3. The Enemy directs us to the temporary and away from the eternal. As with Adam and Even, the Enemy makes the fruit on the tree look so good that we ignore the long-term consequence of eternal death. The pleasure that pornography brings – temporary and fleeting though it is – trumps our desire to be faithful to the everlasting God.
  4. The lure of pornography builds on natural desires. God has created us to be sexual beings, and He gave us clear parameters for sexual expression. Those desires rightly expressed are a beauty of marriage; those same desires under the influence of the Enemy, however, can be distorted and damaging. In either case, the desires seldom go away.
  5. Our exposure to pornography is often early. To be honest, I cannot remember the first time I saw pornography. I know I was apparently so young that I can’t recall not seeing it. Early exposure leaves images in your head that never fully go away.
  6. The sin can now be even more private. In my days, pornography use required going to the convenience store, quietly asking for the magazine behind the counter, and hiding it quickly in a paper bag. Computer access now erases much of that need for “sneaking” around.
  7. “Soft” porn has become acceptable. When we allow ourselves to watch stuff that we know crosses God’s line – even though it may not qualify as XXX-rated material – we only open the door for the Enemy to press his way into our lives. He does not miss those opportunities.
  8. Pornography use has become expected. More than one study has shown that pornography use is pervasive, even among church leaders. I have even seen church accountability groups where everyone failed the previous week – and failure becomes almost the accepted norm.
  9. Pornography can only create desire, not quench it. Ungodly approaches to meet real needs simply cannot meet those needs. Indeed, pornography only makes you crave more of that which can never fully satisfy. That unmet longing leads only to idolatry and addiction.
  10. Pornography allows pleasure without the hard work of relationships and commitment. Relationships take effort. Our individualistic, hedonistic culture wants the fun without the tough work, and pornography makes that possible – or at least we convince ourselves it does.

If you are struggling with pornography, I encourage you to talk to someone. Pray especially that your Christian family, friends, and children will not fall under the power of this sin.

08/06/15 Who Does the Singing?

READING: Zephaniah 1-3

TEXTS AND APPLICATION: Today’s reading covers the entire book of Zephaniah, a book urging Judah to seek Yahweh before judgment comes. Follow this simple outline to the singing at the end:

1. God speaks to His people to warn them.  The book begins with “The word of the Lord that came to Zephaniah” (1:1) and ends with “Yahweh has spoken” (3:20). In between these verses are five expressions of “This is the Lord’s declaration” (1:2, 1:3, 1:10, 2:9, 3:8). Without question, this book is God’s speaking to His people. That He speaks to us at all is amazing. We cannot take that privilege for granted.
2. God judges people who do take Him for granted, especially those who are comfortable in their sin and think that God may not judge. In that light, I must then ask, “how comfortable am I with my sin?” How about you?
Zeph. 1:12  And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish the men who settle down comfortably, who say to themselves: The Lord will not do good or evil.
3. God judges people who ignore His discipline. How many times has God disciplined me, but with only little effect? You?
Zeph. 3:2  She has not obeyed; she has not accepted discipline. She has not trusted in Yahweh; she has not drawn near to her God.
Zeph. 3:7  I thought: You will certainly fear Me and accept correction. Then her dwelling place would not be cut off based on all that I had allocated to her. However, they became more corrupt in all their actions.
4. Still, God calls us back to Him, crying out for us to return to Him before judgment comes. He calls us to seek Him humbly and obediently. Do I hear that call today? Do you?
Zeph. 3:1-3  Gather yourselves together; gather together, undesirable nation, before the decree takes effect and the day passes like chaff, before the burning of the Lord’s anger overtakes you, before the day of the Lord’s anger overtakes you. Seek the Lord, all you humble of the earth, who carry out what He commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be concealed on the day of the Lord’s anger.
5. He promises a day of restoration for His people — a day when God’s people will rejoice, but God will also sing over us.
Zeph. 3:17  Yahweh your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy (also translated as, “He will exult over you with loud singing”).
Think about it. We will rejoice over God, but He will also rejoice over us. God will join in the singing as His glory is so evidenced in His incredible love for us.
God will sing over me. That’s unbelievable.
But that’s the Lord’s declaration.  Yahweh has spoken.
How can I do anything but sing in obedience and joy?

PRAYER: “God, I stand amazed in Your presence. Actually, all I can do is lie on the ground before You. To hear Your singing over me is almost more than my mind can handle. I love you, Lord.”

Sin’s Here— Part Five

What should a Christian do, when they sin? Well obviously, they need to repent, and if it involves others they need to seek forgiveness as well and offer heartfelt apologies. Obviously, since ever sin is against God, they need to make amends with the Almighty first and foremost, but that is by no means the [Read More…]

Time To Stand Against the Baby Killers

The newest video about the activities of Planned Parenthood has been released, so how does the mainstream media respond? With more stories about Cecil the lion of course. Since the MSM refuses to do its job on one of the most important stories of the decade, I will continue to cover this.

With the fifth damning video (out of a total of twelve) just released further exposing the satanic killing fields at Planned Parenthood, it is now clear beyond all doubt what this sinister group is all about. It has nothing to do with caring about women but everything to do with the wholesale slaughter of babies and a raging racket in selling baby parts.

And as the newest video clearly reveals, this is also about selling intact babies. Dr. Savita Ginde, Vice President and Medical Director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains admits to this: “If someone delivers before we get to see them for a procedure, then they are intact…”

Says Kristi Burton Brown: “Dr. Ginde is admitting here that a good number of the second trimester babies at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) – about 10 percent – are born before the abortion is even performed. How many are born alive and either left to die or actively killed outside the womb?”

pp 24And this part of the video demonstrates that PP knows full well they are dealing with actual babies – not blobs of tissue:
Ginde: So, also possibly a twin in there.
Ginde: This is part of the head.
Buyer: Oh wow. That – this is high quality.
Ginde: Yea. The nose?
Buyer: Yea, I see the mouth and everything
Ginde: Here’s the heart…My fingers will smoosh it if I try to pick it up. The heart is right there.
Ginde: A lot of times I‘ll get a full torso, spine, kidneys. You could send the whole thing or pick that apart.
Ginde: But sometimes with the residents, I tell them to poke around, and sometimes embryology will come full circle. Find all the parts you know…I think it’s pretty amazing.
Ginde: Do you want me to get rigid forceps or something so you can pull that out?
Buyer: Do you have like a little one?
Ginde: I don’t have a little one, but I have a big one. You can pull out a leg or something.
Buyer: Oh, and kinda just dangle it? Yea, why not?
Ginde: It’s a baby.

PP, as mentioned, is not about women’s health, but the murder of babies. Consider a few inconvenient truths here. There are over 8000 licensed mammogram facilities in the US, and not one of them is a PP facility. Moreover, Planned Parenthood does NOT provide:
-Mammograms
-Prenatal Care
-Breast Biopsies
-Breast Cancer Diagnostic Care
-Primary Health Care
-Diabetes Treatment
-Treatment for Elevated Cholesterol
-Treatment for Elevated Blood Pressure
-Holistic Medicine
-Obstetrical Care
-Pediatric Care
-Care for HIV Positive Individuals
-Infertility Treatments
-Natural Family Planning Instruction
-Care for Uterine Fibroids
-Treatment for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
-Adoption Placement
-Prostate Exams
-Uterine Laser Ablation
-Cervical Laser Ablation
-Miscarriage Management
-Bladder Disorders and Urinary Problems
-Prolapsed Pelvic Floor Concerns
-Laparoscopic Procedures
-Hysterectomy
-Treatment of Endometriosis
-Polyp Removal
-Endometrial Ablation
-BRCA Testing
-Bone Density Testing
-Treatment of Pelvic Pain
-Treatment of Vulvar Pain
-Molar Pregnancy Follow Up

Planned Parenthood DOES provide:
-First and Second Trimester Abortions
-Limited STD testing and treatment
-Pap Smears for Women in Child Bearing Years
-Limited Contraceptive Methods

It is time we stop believing the lies of PP and its leftist supporters. PP is into baby killing. That is its core business.

It is time to act

As we learn more and more about this nefarious outfit, we don’t need to wait for some after the fact trial, as in the Nuremberg Trials. We can act now. In addition to the various state and federal investigations that have been launched, some states and sponsors are now pulling out. As one example:

The state of Louisiana has cancelled its contract with the state’s two Planned Parenthood centers. Louisiana governor and 2016 presidential candidate Bobby Jindal said that the decision came because of new videos showing illegal activity by top Planned Parenthood officials.
“In recent weeks, it has been shocking to see reports of the alleged activities taking place at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country. Planned Parenthood does not represent the values of the people of Louisiana and shows a fundamental disrespect for human life,” he said. “It has become clear that this is not an organization that is worthy of receiving public assistance from the state.”

And another: “New Hampshire’s Republican-led Executive Council rejected $639,000 in state funding for Planned Parenthood along party lines Wednesday amid a renewed national debate over whether the organization should receive public money.”

Also, more and more major American companies are withdrawing their support of PP, with Kohls and Mrs. Fields among the latest. We need to keep the pressure up until every last penny from state and corporate supporters of PP are dried up.

I just mentioned the Nuremberg trials. The parallels here are of course obvious. Ryan Bomberger makes this case in his new article, “Hey Planned Parenthood: Hitler Called and He Wants His ‘Scientists’ Back”. He writes:

The holocaust is not only relevant; its underpinnings are foundational to the same eugenics movement that birthed Planned Parenthood and abortion-on-demand in America and around the globe.
The International Federation of Eugenics Organizations (of which The American Eugenics Society and the New York based Eugenics Record Office at Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory were an integral part of) based its perspective on race and heredity on the Rockefeller Foundation-funded work of Eugen Fischer.
As director of the Keiser Wilhelm Institute for Anthropology, Medical Genetics and Eugenics in Germany Fischer took pseudoscience to a whole new low. He developed the so-called racial hygiene theory that was embraced by Hitler’s Nazi regime. And the rest, along with millions of human lives, is history…and the present. Nazis’ American counterparts implemented this vulgar pseudoscience in over 60,000 forced sterilizations, racist immigration policies, and a relentless racially targeted birth control crusade headed by fellow eugenicist, Margaret Sanger.
“Birth control itself, often denounced as a violation of natural law, is nothing more or less than the facilitation of the process of weeding out the unfit, of preventing the birth of defectives or of those who will become defective.”
These are Sanger’s words about human life from her 1920 book, Women and the New Race, that can’t be justified in any context. Her anti-life advocacy has resulted in the most destructive eugenic actions in history – holocausts overseas and right here in America, including the slaughter of over 57 million American children as part of Planned Parenthood’s final solution. This isn’t an issue of vague correlations, but direct causation.
Josef Mengele, the infamous Nazi “scientist”, experimented with no conscience. His barbaric treatment of human beings is world renown. What many don’t know is this “research-conducting” madman’s gruesome “experiments” included abortions at Auschwitz. When he fled before Auschwitz was liberated, like the death-obsessed coward he was, he couldn’t help but remain in the same field of human butchery; he became a full-time abortionist in Argentina.
And so many can’t even see that the Pol Pots, the Stalins, the transatlantic slave traders, the Mao Zedongs, the Hitlers of world history have simply donned a different outfit, a splashy new pink banner, and a few new euphemisms. But they’re still the same culprits of corruption and inhuman injustice.
Science is not supreme. And the ends rarely justify the means, especially if it means selling our children as line items…in violently mutilated “war-torn” pieces.

Time for Christians to act

It is the Christian church that especially needs to stand up and be counted here. In addition to the Nazi parallels here there is also the slavery parallel. This is indeed a Wilberforce moment for contemporary Christians. Will we respond to the most pressing moral crisis of our time, as Wilberforce did to the slave trade, or will we just sit by and do nothing?

The simple truth is, standing up for the sanctity of human life is always a gospel issue. Standing of for Blacks was crucial back then, and standing up for the unborn is crucial today. One pastor who knows about the importance of this is Shane Idleman. The post-abortive pastor calls for an end to the damnable silence on abortion from our pulpits. He says:

Approximately 23 years ago, as a prodigal, I conceded to my girlfriends request to abort our child around the 5th week of conception. The pain of that decision still haunts me today. What would they look like? Was it a boy or a girl? I can picture walking and talking with my child… watching his or her first steps… holding them when they cry and rejoicing with them when they succeed. But these are just dreams in my mind; dreams that often leave me heartbroken. Regret is one of the hardest pains to deal with because it is a constant reminder that we failed… failed God, others, and the aborted child.
Groups such as Planned Parenthood say that there are little, if any emotional scars for the women involved… the baby is just tissue. This is very deceptive—the emotional scars can last a lifetime. And it’s not just women who feel the pain, the men often carry tremendous guilt as well….
Pastors… make no mistake about it: We play an enormous role in shaping the direction of the country. We can no longer remain silent while silent screams go unheard. Deep repentance must take place at the individual and national level; our consciences have been seared. Our job is to preach the totality of God’s Word, including those things that are hard to hear, so that both conviction and comfort take place. When human life is devalued, atrocities such as the holocaust, slavery, sex-trafficking and abortion occur. God help us when we ignore our calling to confront evil. Pastors are to be pillars who support truth. When was the last time your pastor discussed this controversial topic from the pulpit? Change will not occur until we confront sin rather than hide from it. “We need more prophets in our pulpits and less puppets” (Leonard Ravenhill).

This is a core part of our calling: to be salt and light. To refuse to engage in the abortion debate is a clear dereliction of our Christian duties. And these videos about PP really are a gift from God. We must praise God for the Center for Medical progress and all the work they have done in exposing this killing machine.

Now the whole world knows what PP is really all about. None of us can claim ignorance any more. Just as Wilberforce alerted his fellow countrymen to the horrors of slave trade, so too groups like CMP are alerting us to the horrors of the baby parts trade – and of course abortion itself.

Wilberforce once said about the evil slave trade which he spent so many decades fighting, “You may choose to look away, but you can never say again that you did not know.” It is exactly the same here. You can pretend these revelations are not occurring.

You can choose to look the other way. But you can no longer claim ignorance. You now fully know. So the only question that remains is this: what will you do about it?

Nine Bible Texts That Ought to Challenge Leaders

SPECIAL NOTE: Dr. Lawless recently launched a site of his own at ChuckLawless.com with daily posts as well as a daily Bible reading devotional. He will continue to write weekly here at ThomRainer.com, but if you would like daily content from him, be sure to visit ChuckLawless.com.

By Chuck Lawless

To be a Christian leader is no small calling. Whether you serve as a church pastor, a lay leader, or a Christian who leads in the secular world, you are under obligation to be a strong and faithful witness for Christ. Here are several texts that should challenge you—and provide you a grid through which to evaluate your life today.

1. 1 Timothy 3:2-7

While directed primarily at elders, this passage is not intended to be limited to those in that role. These texts describe a mature Christian whose lifestyle is clearly affected by his beliefs. I fear that we read these verses when first considering leadership, but fail to come back to them as regularly as we should.

An overseer, therefore, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, sensible, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher, not addicted to wine, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy—one who manages his own household competently, having his children under control with all dignity. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a new convert, or he might become conceited and fall into the condemnation of the Devil. Furthermore, he must have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he does not fall into disgrace and the Devil’s trap. (HCSB)

2. Joshua 1:8

We are to follow the Word of God. No exceptions.

This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it.

3. Mark 9:35

Contrary to the world’s idea of leadership, Christian leadership equals servanthood.

Sitting down, He called the Twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

4. John 3:30

John the Baptist’s words about Jesus must ring true from our lips as well. The work of Christian leadership is always about Christ and never about us.

“He must increase, but I must decrease.”

5. Philippians 2:3

Christian leadership has no room for arrogance. Period.

Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves.

6. Matthew 12:36

As Christian leaders whose work is so connected to our words, we have a high level of accountability for our speech.

“I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak.”

7. 1 Corinthians 11:1

We must live like the Apostle Paul – in such a way that if others imitated our lives fully, they would thus be imitating Christ. That’s a lofty calling.

“Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ.”

8. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Though these verses particularly address Paul’s life, the theme echoes throughout Scripture: we lead best not in our strength, but in our weakness.

Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me. So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

9. 2 Timothy 3:12

Following Jesus is costly. Christian leadership might, in fact, bring victory in a way most leaders seldom consider: through persecution and death.

In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Use these texts today to assess your walk with God. If you need to confess and repent, do so (and if you determine that you have no room for improvement, you might want to go back and review #5 above).

What other texts would you add to this list?

8 Things You Won’t Find in Heaven

Heaven is so heavenly that it’s often hard for earthly creatures to understand what it will really be like. That’s why the Bible often describes heaven in terms of what will not be there. For example, the last two chapters of the Bible tell us eight things that will not be there:

1. No Sea (Rev. 21:1): Does not necessarily mean that there will literally be no sea. Rather “sea” is a common biblical metaphor for the storms of life, the mysteries of life, and the barriers and distances that separate us in life.

2. No Tears (21:4): Why? Verse four tells us, there will be no more pain or death. Imagine, we will never cry or hear a cry ever again.

3. No Temple (21:22): “Yes! No churches!!” says an unbeliever. But it’s no churches because everything is church; everything and everywhere is worship. Here we often experience churches without God. There we will experience God without churches. How? Because “the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.”

4. No Sun or Moon (21:23): Again, not necessarily literal but a biblical symbol for time. No more time pressure, no more stress of having too much to do and too little time to do it. No sun and no moon also means no shadows, no fluctuations in life, no ups and downs. How can this be? “For the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

5. No Locked Gates (21:25): Because no threats and no thieves. All is at peace and all is at rest. Perfect and total security.

6. No Night (21:25): Meaning, no ignorance. The smallest child in heaven knows more about God than the greatest theologian on earth. No night also means no spiritual drowsiness and sleepiness.

7. No Sin (21:27): All the causes, acts, and effects of sin will be abolished. Impossible to even think a sinful thought.

8. No Curse (22:3): Not just no curses from men and women. Also, no evidence or experience of any curse of God on us or the environment. Because Christ became a curse for us (Gal. 3:13), not one atom in us or our new world will have any trace of the divine curse.

These eight things will not be there.

The question is, will you be there?

Treasures of the Unseen

Treasures of the UnseenDuring the last school year, I huddled each Wednesday night with a group of fourth-grade girls from church. Our task was to discuss questions about a Scripture text, which the teacher would later unpack with the whole class. This particular evening we were in Luke 9.

[Jesus] said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” (Luke 9:23–24)

“Girls, what in this passage causes you to worship or praise God?”

Surely, I thought, Peter’s confession of Christ would be the high point.

A hand shot up. But the child’s answer did not include Peter.

“When we take up our cross, we are like Jesus,” said the girl, wide-eyed. “We are on God’s team with him.”

Her simple, faith-filled answer stunned me. I had nearly missed this jewel in Luke 9: Identifying with Christ in his suffering should cause us to worship, because through such identification we join our Savior “on God’s team.”

Unseen and Unsaid

And what a host of fellow team members we have — many of them now past the finish line! They have modeled this very thing for us, to make us wise to salvation through faith in the “now-seen” revelation of Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15–17). Their stories in the pages of Scripture ought to cause our hearts to worship, for through their affliction, heartache, unanswered questions, ceaseless petitions, injustice, seemingly broken dreams — and even through their shame and poor choices — they kept the faith as they held onto God’s promises.

Scriptural narratives and the third-person snapshots in Hebrews 11 leave much not only unseen, but unsaid. What could have been written about life-transforming conversations, disputes, thoughts, lessons, observations, and other life experiences of the saints who came before us — about the things that shaped them, their progeny, and those in their sphere of influence?

Jon Bloom takes up such musings in Things Not Seen: A Fresh Look at Old Stories of Trusting God’s Promises. His collection of 35 reflections and imagined conversations, based on Scripture, encourage us, in our own circumstances, to treasure the not-yet-seen of our ultimate eternal reward.

  • Extended dialogue between Reuben and his father, Jacob, after Reuben’s grace-filled encounter with his faith-filled brother Joseph in Egypt
  • John the Baptist’s discussion with his potentially downcast disciples about role changes and “decreasing” at the appearance of Christ
  • Wisdom from the latter years of the woman Jesus met at the well
  • Easily imagined objections from Moses about his calling to lead a people — and God’s over-rulings
  • Thoughts on Mark (and Demas) regarding failure and turnaround
  • Expanded conversation between Abram and Sarah in their tent upon learning God’s promise to give them a son
  • Isaac’s bedtime words to his young children, Jacob and Esau, about “when he was a boy” and why their grandfather almost made him a sacrifice
  • Jonathan’s shining example of faith and “yielding,” through the lens of a discussion between David and his brother Abinadab
  • Reflections on Samson’s “faithless faith” by two of his brothers as they go to collect his body in Gaza
  • Words Abel might be speaking to us from the grave about God-pleasing faith
  • Encouragement from Gideon to his bewildered servant on “the impossible”
  • Reminiscences of a former solider to his son about the strong and courageous faith of Joshua
  • A view of the scene at Mary’s home with Jesus — one of the most worshipful, faith-filled moments in Scripture

And these are just a sampling of ways that saints of old call to us from the sidelines: “Don’t give up!”

The Unseen for Those We Love

When we respond in faith to our own “unseen” — sickness and pain, the death of someone we love, dreams that collapse, situations where we are brought low or are maligned — others are watching.

As God spoke to saints of old, and as Jesus related to sinners in ways tailored to their personal experiences and unique understandings, so the Spirit speaks and moves through his children now. Our experiences and circumstances not only form the invisible fibers of our being, give feet to our faith, and conform us to the image of Christ; they equip us in as many different ways to be a means of grace for others as we point to our true and better home.

Like the characters of Things Not Seen, we too are living stones with faith stories that are in process. Though oftentimes rejected like our Savior, we are being built up as God’s people, his team of promise-receivers and promise-proclaimers, who will one day, at last, join the great cloud of witnesses for our ultimate reward — and truly see.

New Hampshire Defunds Planned Parenthood

According to Christian News Network:

Officials in the state of New Hampshire have voted to defund the abortion giant Planned Parenthood on Wednesday, canceling its $650,000 contract.

The 3-2 party line vote by the State Executive Council comes as a result of a series of videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, showing that the organization harvests the organs of aborted babies donated by their mothers, and sells them to scientific companies who pay the organization the body parts.

Why the effort to make gay marriage sacramental won’t work

Catholic News Agency reports:

Dissenting Catholic groups have called for gay marriage to be recognized as a sacrament, but Catholic theology has a clear priority: marriage is God’s creation – and not even the Church can change that.

Dr. John Grabowski, a professor of moral theology at Catholic University of America, said that the push for “sacramental equality” by groups such as Dignity USA shows “a lack of understanding of what the Church is and the nature of the Church and what the sacraments are.”

“’Marriage equality’ made for a good slogan, but in the Church’s understanding, marriage is not something that can be ‘redefined’; if you will, by interest groups, by government, or even by the Church itself,” he told CNA July 29.

Israeli Archaeologists Discover Philistine City Of Gath And Home Of Goliath The Giant

Israeli archaeologists at Bar-Ilan University have discovered an entrance gate and other remnants of the Philistine city of Gath, which was mentioned in the bible as the home of the giant Goliath, who fought and lost against the man who later became King David.

“And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.” 1 Samuel 17:23 (KJV)

Professor Aren Maeir and his colleagues conducted the excavations in the Tel Zafit national park, which is located between Ashkelon and Jerusalem. Gath was destroyed in 830 BC by Hazael, the king of Damascus.

“We knew that Philistine Gath in the 10th to ninth century B.C. was a large city, perhaps the largest in the land at that time,” Professor Maeir told the Live Science news outlet in an email. “These monumental fortifications stress how large and mighty this city was.”

“After finding a huge fortification, it is clearly the most important city of the 10th and ninth centuries,” added an archeology source according to Israel’s i24.

The gate is the largest of its kind to ever be discovered in Israel, according to Maeir, who said that that fact substantiates the theory that Gath was once a very influential city.

Other items discovered in the same excavation included a temple, an iron production facility, and other buildings. source

Living as Expatriates – “As Christians, our place in the culture has changed, and there has been a lot of talk recently about how we should proceed from here. I like what Tom Gilson has to say about how we should view ourselves…”

Theology Thursday – Theism (The Evidence of Creation) – “Last time we discussed Theism we learned that the Bible makes two arguments for the existence of God. The first is the evidence of conscience. The second is creation, which we will examine today.  Creation unmistakably demonstrates its creator, so much so that those who observe it are without excuse.”

Much Ado About I Do: Responding to FAQ – “In case you missed it, marriage does not mean what it used to. The millennia old definition of a union between a man and a woman has been rewritten.  We now live in a world with an elastic view of marriage and how far it will stretch is still yet to be seen. Christians who have not caved in on the issue have taken a lot of heat for their ‘bigotry.’ I’ve compiled a list of five of the most frequently asked questions regarding Christians and Same Sex Marriage.”

Acts 17 and “Contextualization” – “Read (and believe) enough of the trendy books and blogs that talk about missional living, and you’ll get the distinct impression that fitting into this world’s cultures is vastly more important—and a much more effective evangelistic strategy—than knowing the gospel message and communicating it with boldness, precision, and clarity.”

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil – “There is a great deal going on in the visible church, much of it having little to do with genuine Christianity, that most of us can do little about. Yes, we can pray, which is very powerful. We can also obey God and expose the evil to other believers. However, the older I get in the faith the outrage over much of what people like Rick Warren says or writes I no longer allow to consume me. I know what my role is in the Truth War do you know what yours is? For most of us it is to obey what the Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesian church in Ephesians 5:1-21.”

Apostasy and Church Belief Statements

False Doctrines Abound

A little over a generation ago the main line Protestant Religions professed the basic Christian beliefs but that has rapidly changed. Many churches have thrown tradition and the Bible aside and have altered their core beliefs in order to align themselves with the changing societal norms. Entire denominations and churches that were once doctrinally solid are now inundated by false, worldly doctrine.

Today finding or staying in a church with a doctrinally solid belief statement is becoming more and more difficult.

Alpha and Omega Ministries: Seer Stones, Hillsong Church, and KJVOnly Deceitfulness

Three topics on today’s program: started off with the story of Joseph Smith’s “Seer Stone” and the recent publication of pictures of it by the LDS Church (my, how times have changed!).  Then we moved on to the Hillsong story, Carl Lentz, Brian Houston, and the very confusing, odd statement released a few days ago that seems to indicate that you can be a homosexual in the congregation, just not in leadership. I guess.  Anyway, then we moved on to this horrifically dishonest and deceitful article by KJV Onlyist Kent Brandenburg, which I will continue to refute and expose on the program on Friday.

BCC: 5 Promises of Hope & More!

I woke up sobbing, my tears spilling the pain of a secret childhood memory. My husband reached for my hand under the quilt, his green eyes searched mine.

“What’s wrong, Lucy? What happened?”

“I don’t know,” I lied.

I knew the reason for my tears, these salty signals of pushed-down pain. With no warning the memory swept away my equilibrium like a storm surge. I felt vulnerable, confused, angry, beaten, dazed, alone, afraid . . . even hopeless.  Have you felt hard emotions too? Can you name them?

Caught in my storm — my world of overwhelming emotional pain – little me dared to ask the Almighty God: “Why? Why this? Why now?” Part of me was glad I asked, part of me felt afraid. Would God frown at my bold question, would He . . . abandon me? Have you sought answers to your “Why”? Have you feared God’s reaction? I bumped into promises of hope as I journeyed from. . .

From Hurt to Hope

The antidote to fear, anger, depression, and any hurt is real HOPE. Hear these God-guaranteed promises of promise.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD,

plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you a hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11

Yes, God has a plan, purpose, and provision for your life, wrapped in promises of hope. A guaranteed hope. God promises WILL prevail. Do you believe this? If not, what’s getting in the way? When you feel crushed, broken, and worn, you may wonder if you’ll ever feel good again. Your feelings may say God is far, far away. The truth: Jesus is near. He invites you to lean on him.

God’s vision for your life is larger than you might imagine. Through His power, your weaknesses become your strengths. You are never beyond hope.

From Hope to More Hope

God wants to heal you or your hurting friend at church or work or on the internet. He wants you to receive biblical truth and practical help. His desire: emotional healing so you, in God’s timing, begin helping others find hope.

As God comforted me in my trouble, now I comfort others so they too may comfort those in any trouble with the comfort they received from Him. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, NIV

Listen to apostle Paul’s precious words to Christians in Rome:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13, NIV

Please ask God for courage, help, and wisdom as you hear the Lord’s voice and trust him. Trusting Jesus opens the floodgates to joy, peace, and overflowing hope.

Promises of Hope

As you discover healing for you or your friend, you’ll see these hope promises in action.

1. God values you. He’s crazy about you and your hurting friend. He loves you just as you are. You don’t have to earn his smile. Believers in Christ have his favor and blessing now (Ephesians 1:3).

2. You are never alone in your hurt. Everyday troubles are a normal part of life. Jesus said: “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world,” John 16:33, NKJ.

3. Your emotions are helpful, including the hard ones like fear, anger, and sadness. How? They tell you something is amiss and prompt you to look to the One you knows your every action, word, and thought and loves you always.

4. Hope will transform your thinking. (Romans 12:2) Reading God’s Word (the bible), believing the truth, and acting on His promises encourages you to hold onto hope in life’s everyday troubles. This healing hope gives you peace and contentment – the abundant life (John 10:10). Here. Now. And forever.

5. No one can take away your hope not even the enemy of your soul who’ll try to snatch it from you. His strategy: lies. Believing his lies may convince you to doubt God, just as Adam and Even questioned the Father’s goodness and rebelled against him. Thank God . . .

Hope Heals

That awful morning of sobbing turned out to be one of the best days of my life. God picked that summer sky blue, bird-happy morning to begin my journey healthy emotions and a hope-filled spirit.

The truth: A hurting woman’s life will overflow inner peace and contentment as she chooses God’s will over counterfeit solutions.

I learned the beautiful truth of who God is and who I am in Christ. God pointed me to bible passages, prayer, journaling, and Christian lyrics that countered the lie that I wasn’t a “defect” – an identity I sucked onto like a leech . . . even as a believer in Jesus! He taught me in the office of a Christian counselor to let God’s light dispel the darkness of childhood secrets. In this same office, I discovered the value of guarding my heart and moving forward with promises of hope.

What a privilege for me to help women have hope and help their friends know how to provide biblical truth and practical help. God called me to a ministry of biblical counseling, writing, and speaking. If I hadn’t experienced pain and healing, how would I know promises of hope, and how would I know . . .

hope heals.

The Cripplegate: The Abortion Guarantee

I’ve written on a lot of issues and biblical passages on here over the last few years, but the one thing I haven’t tackled was the issue of abortion.  The reason I haven’t tackled it was because I didn’t have the time to explore the topic in the comprehensive manner that I normally lean towards (i.e. like this or this or this).  I still haven’t found the time, and the kind of post I’d like to write requires a lot of research.  I have started my research and wanted to share something that I’ve already learned:

The Abortion Guarantee.

It doesn’t take much reading of Scripture to learn that God has a heart for the widows, orphans, poor and oppressed.  In Scripture, God is abundantly clear in revealing his concern for those groups (Ex. 22:22-27, 23:1-3, 23:6-8, 23:10-11; Lev. 19:15, 23:22, 25:35-43; Deut 14:28-29, 15:7-15, 24:14-22; Ps. 9:9, 10:16-18, 34:4-7; 35:10, 41:1-3, 68:5, 103:6, 146:5-9; Is. 1:16-17, 10:1-4, 58:1-12; Jer. 7:5-7; Ez. 22:23-29; Zech. 7:9-10; Mal. 3:5; Mark 12:38-40; Rom. 15:25-27; Gal. 2:7-10; 1 Tim 5:3-8; James 1:27, 2:15-17, etc.).  The Lord hears their cries, comes to their aid, and is angry at those who mistreat them.

The Lord indeed comes to the aid of the widows, orphans, poor and oppressed, but there is a specific group of people that has a special place on his list of priorities, even above them:

Children.

God gets angry at the oppression and abuse of children.  God gets furious when they are killed.

It says:

The FBI has begun looking into the security of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private e-mail setup, contacting in the past week a Denver-based technology firm that helped manage the unusual system, according to two government officials.

Also last week, the FBI contacted Clinton’s lawyer, David Kendall, with questions about the security of a thumb drive in his possession that contains copies of work e-mails Clinton sent during her time as secretary of state.

The FBI’s interest in Clinton’s e-mail system comes after the intelligence community’s inspector general referred the issue to the Justice Department in July. Intelligence officials expressed concern that some sensitive information was not in the government’s possession and could be “compromised.”

[…]The inquiries are bringing to light new information about Clinton’s use of the system and the lengths to which…

TMS: Putting the ME in Media

Today’s article is a continuation from yesterday’s post. In this post, Dr. MacArthur cautions believers against using social media to foster sins of pride and self-promotion.

Putting the ME in Media

If there is one word that perhaps best describes social media it is this: self-promotion. The narcissism fostered by status updates and tweets is undeniable. And cultural critics have taken notice.

Some respond with humor. A few see it as a good thing. Others are concerned that social media is ramping up society’s psychological maladies—like Narcissistic Personality Disorder. (Of course, what psychologists label “NPD” the Bible calls the sin of pride.)

Even the majority of social media users admit that self-promotion is at its core: “A national study fresh out of SDSU is confirming that Generation Y really is Generation Me. The jaw-dropping conclusion? 57% of young people believe their generation uses social networking sites for self-promotion, narcissism and attention seeking.” (Source)

In the words of one British journalist:

The Me-Man is everywhere. And so is the Me-Woman. They are the millions of men and women . . . from every class, age and profession who want to talk about themselves, expose themselves, and promote themselves in glorious and often gory detail. . . . They blog and bleat and tweet and text you all the time. The medium may vary, but the message is always the same: Me. “Me, Me, Me!” (Source)

Dr. Lauren LaPorta, Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at St. Joseph’s, sees the popularity of social networking sites as a direct result of the growing narcissism in American culture (due largely to the self-esteem movement of the 90s). Writing for the Psychiatric Times, she observes,

It is my contention that these sites would not have risen to such prominence but for the fact that a generation of narcissists needed an outlet. The millennial generation needed a way to assert their uniqueness, their specialness and garner the attention and praise of the masses. Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and Twitter filled the bill.” (Source)

But the me-centered world of social media is clearly at odds with the biblical call to humility and selflessness. Consider just a brief sampling of relevant Scripture passages on this subject:

Proverbs 16:18—“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.”

Proverbs 27:2—“Let another man praise you and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.”

Proverbs 30:2—“If you have been foolish in exalting yourself . . . put your hand over your mouth.”

Isaiah 66:2—“‘To this one I [the LORD] will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.’”

Matthew 23:11–12—“The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.”

Philippians 2:3–5—“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves. . . . Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.”

To these, a host of other passages could be added. All of them make the same point: God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

When so much about social media panders to pride and shameless self-exaltation, believers need to think about their motives before they jump on the bandwagon. If the goal is simply popularity or personal promotion, it’s time to do a heart check.

Our celebrity-driven culture craves for notoriety. But Christians are called to be different. We have died to ourselves. Thus, our concern should not be, “How many people can I get to follow me?” but rather, “How can I bear witness to the wonder of following Christ?”

(This article will be concluded tomorrow.)

Ben Gresham exposes Houston lying in his media statement

BRIAN HOUSTON PROTESTING TOO MUCH

Althought we have exposed on this issue, Brian Houston has been emphatically trying to convince people that Hillsong Church has not changed it’s position on same sex issues. He tweeted,

There has been absolutely no change to Hillsong Church’s stance on homosexuality and gay marriage. Statement pending.

Source: Brian Houston, Twitter, https://twitter.com/BrianCHouston/status/628482424591118336, Published . (Accessed 06/08/2015.) (Archived.)

In that statement he said,

“Hillsong’s position on homosexuality and gay marriage has not changed and is consistent with Scripture.”

This article will prove through the writing of Ben Gresham (a close gay friend of Brian Houston) that Houston is still following through with his promises to Ben Gresham after his meeting with him back in 2010 to bring changes to Hillsong.

In other words, Brian Houston has been caught lying… again.

New Hampshire defunds Planned Parenthood, Democrat governor opposed

WINTERY KNIGHT

Hillary Clinton and Planned Parenthood Hillary Clinton and Planned Parenthood

The New Hampshire Executive Council voted 3-2 to deny a  $639,000 contract with Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.

This is from the Washington Times. (H/T ECM)

Excerpt:

The New Hampshire vote, coming over the objections of Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan, comes as the latest example of the backlash against Planned Parenthood following the release of five undercover videos raising alarm over the organization’s involvement in the trade of fetal organs from abortions.

[…]The Republican-controlled New Hampshire Executive Council denied state funding by turning down a $639,000 contract with Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.

[…]At least 10 other states have reacted by launching investigations, but New Hampshire is not one of them. The executive council’s decision to deny state funding to Planned Parenthood came after Ms. Hassan refused calls to look into the group’s practices regarding fetal tissue.

The governor has said there is…

Mourn and Weep: a messy Life with a Great King.

The Good Light Project

Energy spent looking internally for answers to the hardest spiritual conundrums we face are futile. We are constantly confronted with the reality of sin; our sin or the sins of others can instantly set us back spiritually and emotionally. It is imperative the church has the right perspective on relationships, finances, politics, church, and God. Our responses to all of it will vary throughout our walk. As you seek to honor God more perhaps you are more than likely be met with resistance. Victories with sin in one area of our life serve as an encouragement but then it feels as if ten more sins pop up and this can be discouraging. It can feel as if you are a hamster: always running but never getting anywhere.

The spiritual clarity we desperately need for all of the components in our life to make sense cannot be found in anything except the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is…

Of the Practice of Covetousness in Keeping Wealth

Regeneration, Repentance and Reformation

Being Gouge’s own summaries of his sermons on Covetousness from his Commentary on Hebrews, Courtesy of Puritan Sermons – Fire & Ice
Written by, William Gough, Puritan, 1575-1653

covetous-rich-man

Covetousness in keeping wealth is practiced two ways:

  1. Covetousness is practiced when men hoard up all that they can, though they obviously have enough for the present, but they do so in fear against the possibility of being in some way inconvenienced or lacking something in the future. They treasure up, or hoard, whatever they can find. But I tell you, so did the rich fool in the Gospel. Though his ground was bearing fruit plentifully, his selfish mind was completely set upon enlarging his barns to “lay up for many years to come,” and this, just for himself. See Luke 12, etc.The wise man, Solomon, highlights and brings out this covetousness in practice, ‘There is one, he is alone, and…

Planned Parenthood In Florida Found to be Performing Illegal Second Trimester Abortions

Zwinglius Redivivus

The state of Florida launched an investigation into the Planned Parenthood abortion business after multiple expose’ videos have caught the abortion business selling the body parts of aborted babies. Now, state health department inspectors are reporting their results and they found Planned Parenthood abortion clinics are illegally doing 2nd-trimester abortions.  Those are the kinds of abortions that allow Planned Parenthood to gather the body parts of aborted babies for sale.

Last month, Florida became the 11th state to launch a investigation into Planned Parenthood after the abortion company was exposed selling the body parts of aborted babies. Florida Governor Rick Scott, who is pro-life, ordered an investigation of 16 statewide Planned Parenthood offices.
