At the same time, cars have never been crammed with more features to safeguard drivers with fuzzier vision, slower reactions, and stiffer necks. The Obama Administration in Defense of the Nuclear Agreement with Iran
On August 5, 2015, President Barack Obama delivered an address that included criticism of Israel’s stance on the nuclear agreement with Iran. What follows is a review of the administration’s leading contentions in favor of the agreement.

Obama Staffer Fires Gun at Boyfriend in Dispute

A special assistant to the president — the president who recently lamented that an inability to pass gun control was one of the great failures of his administration — was arrested Friday after she allegedly fired a pistol at her boyfriend during a domestic dispute. Barvetta Singletary, 37, didn’t help advance her boss’ crusade against gun violence when she invited her boyfriend, a Capitol Hill police officer, over to her house for sex. Afterwards, she accused him of seeing another woman and demanded to see the texts on his cellphones. When he refused, Singletary reached into her boyfriend’s bag, according to the arresting documents, and pulled out the two cellphones and his service weapon, a .40-caliber Glock 23. She demanded he tell her the passwords to the phones. He refused. “Your phone is more important than me holding the gun on you,” she said, shooting the couch where he was sitting. Singletary was the Obama administration’s House legislative affairs liaison and was paid $125,000 a year. Let’s just say she wasn’t a low-level staffer. And her purposeful gun crime while working for this gun-hostile administration is more important than the time Dick Cheney accidentally shot a friend while hunting. But which one received more news coverage?

Just When the Science Was Settled…

In a move reminiscent of the tobacco industry evoking science to move its product, Coca-Cola has turned to science to prove that soda is not the cause of obesity — the lack of exercise is. The New York Times reports, “Health experts say this message is misleading and part of an effort by Coke to deflect criticism about the role sugary drinks have played in the spread of obesity and Type 2 diabetes.” It’s yet another attempt to use Science™ as propaganda to advance a cause — just like the government has said “the science is settled” when it comes to the issue of global warming. But while the government insists human industry is the cause of rising temperatures and government must restructure the economy as a result, keep in mind that government science can’t even decide if skipping breakfast is good or bad. While the government has said in the past that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, one that would stabilize the body’s metabolism, a recent study found that those who skipped breakfast either lost or maintained their weight. While the government is questioning its stance on eating bacon first thing in the morning, remember: You can trust them on global warming.

Seattle Imposes Gun Tax for the Sake of Public Health

It’s a bad time to be poor and living in Seattle. Not only is the city’s minimum wage starving out its restaurants, the city passed an ordinance that makes it that much harder for people to buy guns and ammo in city limits — a policy that will disproportionately affect those with limited means. First they target job prospects, then they take away the ability of those in the lower income brackets to defend themselves. The Seattle City Council unanimously approved a measure Monday that will impose a tax of $25 on every gun and 5 cents on every round of ammunition sold in the city. The excuses by the council are weak. They say the tax will rake in anywhere from $300,000 to $500,000 a year. With that, Seattle plans on either directing it to covering the medical expenses in the city that occur because of firearms — a $17-million-a-year expense — or using the money to study gun violence as a public health issue. But half a million dollars does not fix the problems Seattle’s council raises. As the NRA-ILA notes, “Persons of means will simply drive outside the city to purchase firearms and ammunition, while those without such options will be forced to go forego their rights or pay the tax. This is especially egregious considering how those at the lower end of the economic scale also tend to reside in areas where violent crime is the highest. One wonders whether this type of social engineering on the downtrodden is an intended feature of the legislation rather than an unfortunate consequence.”

Christian Refugees Get the Cold Shoulder

By Lewis Morris

2015-08-11-5304d9ad_large.jpg

One of the great traditions of American foreign policy has been to protect the oppressed against those who would do them harm. Yet throughout Barack Obama’s presidency, we have seen time and again how that policy has been abandoned for the sake of politics and The One’s own personal aggrandizement.

The most recent example is the revelation that 28 Chaldean Christians have been sitting in a San Diego immigration detention facility while bureaucrats decide whether to let them seek asylum in America or be returned to Iraq, where Christians are facing widespread persecution under the Islamic State and an indifferent and corrupt Iraqi regime.

The Chaldean Christians hail from one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, and the more than two dozen people who now sit in a barbed wire compound in San Diego faced a perilous trek to avoid being jailed and murdered at the hand of barbarians who seek nothing less than their conversion to Islam or their death. Twelve have already been given deportation orders, though their final destination and fate remains unknown.

While illegal immigrants with horrendous criminal records run rampant on American streets committing heinous crimes that the administration and the Leftmedia try to downplay, Christians who want nothing more than the freedom to practice their faith are being detained.

“In Iraq, they only had three choices: convert to Islam, death by the sword or leave the country,” Mark Arabo, head of the Minority Humanitarian Foundation, told Fox News. “They’ve refused to convert, escaped slavery and death — only to be imprisoned by our broken immigration system.”

Arabo, whose parents came from Iraq to the U.S. in 1979, went on to note a sad truth under the Obama administration: “The disheartening thing is it seems that our border is open to anyone unless you’re a Christian fleeing genocide.”

Since Obama abandoned Iraq in 2009, leaving that country to the wolves and spitting on the graves of the 4,000 American soldiers who gave their lives to secure that country, more than a million Iraqi Christians have been exiled. Some 300,000 still remain, and they live in constant fear of displacement, rape, murder and a number of other brutalities at the hands of the Islamic State, which has made significant military gains in the absence of an American military presence.

John Sununu, former New Hampshire governor and chief of staff to George H.W. Bush, recently noted, “There seems to be an indifference in Washington to what is happening here.”

Sununu is being too kind.

Former Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia was more accurate, saying, “This administration is fundamentally anti-Christian.”

Obama is not just indifferent to the plight of Iraqi Christians or the Christians in Syria and Egypt and many other nations around the world who are being persecuted and murdered in record numbers by jihadis. We think his sustained record of inaction and turning a blind eye to the massacres taking place across the globe belies an underlying disdain for the Christian faith.

Consider Obama’s words since taking office. From his inaugural “apology” tour in 2009 to mandating Christians pay for abortive drugs through health insurance to his open browbeating of Christians over the Crusades during the National Prayer Breakfast in February to his support for the Rainbow Mafia’s persecution of Christians over marriage, he has demonstrated not only ignorance of history but contempt for the Christian religion and its place in the world.

At every turn, Obama has chosen to play down the horrific actions of the Islamic State as it burns people alive, decapitates nonbelievers en masse, and drives people of other faiths from the homes their families have lived in for generations. Instead, he callously dishes out revisionist history of atrocities committed by Christians hundreds of years ago in an attempt to lay out some twisted morally equivalent worldview that is logically and morally bankrupt.

As Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said in February, “It was nice of the President to give us a history lesson… Today, however, the issue right in front of his nose, in the here and now, is the terrorism of Radical Islam, the assassination of journalists, the beheading and burning alive of captives… The Medieval Christian threat is under control, Mr. President. Please deal with the Radical Islamic threat today.”

But that is not Obama’s M.O. He is acting on a lifelong contempt for Western values that was instilled in him by his mentors of hate. He sees the threats that face America as some sort of punishment for a perceived injustice that our nation has perpetrated on the world.

It cannot be denied that some Christians acted poorly in the past (and sometimes the present), nor can it be denied that America has awful scars in its history. But our country learns from its mistakes, and it remains as always the single brightest beacon of freedom and hope for people around the world who want to practice their faith in peace and with dignity. Obama’s twisted worldview has done America no favors, and it has rolled back the march toward universal freedom. Who can say how long it will take to undo the damage he has wrought?

OPINION IN BRIEF

Stephen Moore: “Obama announced last week the toughest environmental regulations ever against coal. … But the pain from the new Environmental Protection Agency rules won’t be evenly distributed across America. Far from it. The liberal coastal states will feel relatively modest jobs losses because they rely less on manufacturing. … It’s time to label the Obama green policies what they truly are: steep taxes on red state America. … The de facto tax that Obama wants to impose on American coal is doubly dastardly because its impact will be felt hardest in relatively poorer states. And because Census Bureau data confirms that poor households spend four times more of their income on energy than rich families, the Obama policy will make income inequality much worse. … Even if the U.S. cut coal use to zero over the next 25 years, global emissions from coal will rise sharply. By 2040, China’s coal power capacity alone will be nearly 4 times the current U.S. capacity. So the Obama plan is all pain and no gain. It would be like trying to reduce unwanted pregnancies in the third world by having Americans use more birth control. Stupid.”

SHORT CUTS

Insight: “Our pretended treaties, then, being made with no legitimate or bona fide nations, or representatives of nations, and being made, on our part, by persons who have no legitimate authority to act for us, have intrinsically no more validity than a pretended treaty made by the Man in the Moon with the king of the Pleiades.” —political theorist Lysander Spooner (1808-1887)

Upright: “After more than six years of Barack Obama in the White House, have we learned nothing about the dangers of choosing a President of the United States on the basis of sound bites, with no track record to check against his rhetoric? … [V]oting to put Obama in the White House was like flying a plane through mountains at night. If we manage to get through the next year and a half without crashing, should we try that gamble again?” —Thomas Sowell

Braying Jenny: “What Donald Trump said about Megyn Kelly is outrageous, but what the rest of the Republicans are saying about all women is also outrageous.” —Hillary Clinton (And what Bill Clinton DID to women is even more outrageous.)

Village Idiots: “I’m not sure how titties are worse than guns.” —Miley Cyrus

For the record: “Gay teens have higher pregnancy rates than their straight peers.” —headline from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune (“Perhaps, just perhaps, sexuality is more malleable — more morality-driven — than we’ve been led to believe, with more sexually libertine cultures willing to explore a variety of different (and riskier) sexual behaviors. Perhaps, just perhaps, the campaign to normalize gay culture was a tad misleading about the habits and attitudes within that culture.” —National Review’s David French)

And last… “Top Democrat Chuck Schumer will oppose Obama’s Iran deal. He was unavailable for comment as he prepares for his IRS audit covering years 1973-2014.” —Twitter satirist @weknowwhatsbest

The McAvany Intel Memo

In the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s, and early ’90s the political left (aka the Liberal Eastern Establishment) had an almost 100% monopoly on information and all news dispensed to the American public. This was in reality much closer to a monopoly of disinformation, propaganda, or dumbing down of the public. They exercised this information monopoly via their tight control (i.e., ownership) of the major television networks (i.e., NBC, CBS, ABC, CNBC, CNN, etc.); as well as their control of the major news magazines (i.e., Time, Newsweek, US News and World Report, Atlantic Monthly, etc.); and their tight ownership of almost all major newspapers via six major newspaper chains – all dominated by the political left. Only small town newspapers and local radio stations were outside of this information monopoly, and by the 1990s the giant Establishment controlled media chains began to buy these up as well.

This information (or disinformation) monopoly was designed to keep the American people dumbed down and complacent about the political left’s gradual takeover of America – which today is for the most part a fait accompli. In this dumbing down or brainwashing of a nation (just as in Nazi Germany in the 1930s), the public schools (likewise dominated by the political left over the past 50 years or so) also played a major role. But then the worst nightmare the political left could have ever imagined emerged – shooting a gigantic, gaping hole in their theretofore total monopoly of information – the Internet.

Gerald Celente Is Predicting That A Stock Market Crash Will Happen By The End Of 2015

New York Stock Exchange - Public DomainGerald Celente of the Trends Research Institute has just gone on the record with a prediction that there will be a stock market crash by the end of this calendar year.  If you are not familiar with Gerald Celente, he is one of the most highly respected trends forecasters in the entire world.  He has been featured on CNN, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS Morning News, NBC Nightly News and Coast to Coast AM.  Personally, I have a lot of respect for him.  While it is true that not every single one of his forecasts about the future came to pass over the years, he does have a very solid track record that goes back for decades.  He correctly predicted the 1987 stock market crash, the bursting of the dotcom bubble and the financial panic of 2008.  Just a couple of days ago, he told Eric King the following: “I’m now predicting that we are going to see a global stock market crash before the end of the year.”  Celente says that it won’t just be U.S. stocks either.  He believes that crashes are also coming to “the DAX, the FTSE, the CAC, Shanghai, and the Nikkei”.  It other words, it is going to be a truly global financial crisis and he says that there is “going to be panic on the streets from Wall Street to Shanghai and from the UK down to Brazil”. Humans to Soon Marry Robots?

Posted: 11 Aug 2015 05:32 AM PDT

Is humanity ready for the next step towards moral decline? The Supreme Court’s recent 5–4 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges legalizing same-sex marriage across the United States has already spawned speculation about “what will be next” in expanding marital rights. As the Supreme Court noted, “[t]he history of marriage is one of both continuity and change. That institution … has evolved over time.” Interracial marriage, equality between husband and wife, and same-sex marriage were all excluded for long periods of time under our Constitution but now have been sanctioned and protected by the courts.

While these changes have come slowly, and courts are unlikely to take the next step in expanding marital rights for some time, the courts are probably not finished expanding the legal definition of marital rights.A New York Times op-ed published shortly after the Supreme Court’s same-sex decision said that the court’s logic could eventually lead to recognition of polygamy or plural marriages, an argument also made by Chief Justice John Roberts in his dissenting opinion. This slippery-slope argument has also been used to contend that the court’s decision will open the door to legal recognition of bestiality or incest. FULL REPORT

Fukushima, the Blob and the rise of dead marine life

Posted: 11 Aug 2015 05:28 AM PDT

The carcasses of three more marine mammals washed up on the shores of San Francisco beaches July 7, 2015. No one is sure what killed the sea creatures; however, the massive amounts of radiation leaking into the ocean from the Fukushima power plant over the past four years may bear some responsibility. Joey DeRuy was walking along the beach Monday when he stumbled across a dead sea lion. Unperturbed, he kept walking until he came across an even bigger dead elephant seal just minutes later.

By the end of the day, there were three dead sea creatures lying on San Francisco’s coast: a dolphin, a sea lion pup and an elephant seal. National Park Service lifeguards tried to dispose of the dolphin, but they weren’t quite sure how to handle the mammal. They lifted the dead dolphin into a truck, but it was so large that its tail was hanging halfway out the truck’s bed. FULL REPORT

California’s takeaway plan: Take away your medical choice, pensions, guns, gold and freedom

Posted: 11 Aug 2015 05:23 AM PDT

Freedom is making a swift exit from the Golden State, where millions of families now face medical tyranny after California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law legislation mandating that all school-age children attending public and private schools get vaccinated. But it won’t stop there: The legislature is already gearing up to force vaccines on adults, and soon they’ll likely go after people’s pensions, gold, guns, and more, as this once-free cultural mecca plunges into absolute totalitarianism.

Introduced just days after Senate Bill 277, SB 792 would require that all child care workers be vaccinated against measles (MMR), pertussis (DTaP), and influenza, with the latter shot being an annual requirement. And just like with SB 277, adults would be prohibited under SB 792 from opting out of these “mandatory” vaccinations for personal or religious reasons, meaning only doctors would be allowed to make this decision on a case-by-case basis. Franklin Graham: False Teaching Has Diluted God’s Word

Posted: 11 Aug 2015 04:59 AM PDT

What hope is there for future generations? We are faced with moral crisis, economic crisis, political crisis—it seems that wherever you look both here at home and around the world storms are brewing. The only hope is in Jesus Christ. The rapid moral decline we are seeing around us should be a clarion call for every Christian to speak out for biblical truth and to be diligent in sharing the hope of the gospel.

That is why I am committed to taking the gospel to cities across our nation and around the world. This year we have already held 18 evangelistic crusades, preaching the life-changing message of salvation on four continents, and we still have a busy schedule for the remainder of 2015—culminating this November in Tokyo, the largest city in the world. In Japan, less than 3 percent of the population are Christian. Many have put their faith in the yen, and that has failed them. Many have looked to the West and adopted that culture, only to find it leaves them empty and cold. Materialism has become rampant, suicide is now epidemic among young people, and the nation’s crime rate is rising dramatically. This will mark my fourth time to preach in Japan—pray with me that many will turn in repentance and faith and respond to God’s offer of salvation. FULL REPORT

Fox News Loses All Credibility As Conspiracy To Sabotage Donald Trump Is Revealed

Posted: 11 Aug 2015 04:47 AM PDT

WITH THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DEBATE LESS THAN 10 HOURS AWAY, FOX NEWS ANCHORS CHRIS WALLACE, MEGYN KELLY AND BRET BAIER SAT AT A LONG TABLE WITH THEIR PRODUCERS AND ONCE AGAIN WENT OVER THE GAME PLAN FOR THE BIG NIGHT.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Donald Trump somehow has managed to terrify Fox News so badly that they brought out all guns against him, replete with a “nuclear option” scorched earth policy to bring him down and discredit him in front of the American people. The talk fest blood bath brought in Fox’s highest ratings ever, but it failed to “bring down Trump”. But what was brought down, in the opinion of this site, is any decent reputation Fox News may have had for being “fair and balanced”. Fox exhibited disgraceful and shameful behaviour unbecoming journalists, but they are a huge hit with the liberal media now for obvious reasons. Rest in pieces, Faux News.

Leaning into their laptop computers, they reviewed not just the questions they would ask but the structure of every query, keeping in mind the constraints of time and the need to avoid repeating topics. As they sorted and re-sorted questions, the unpredictability of real estate tycoon and reality-TV star Donald Trump was never far from their minds. FULL REPORT

China Shocks Markets With Yuan Devaluation

Posted: 11 Aug 2015 04:43 AM PDT

China is shaking up the Stock Market again this morning as reports indicate that Exchange-rate intervention contributed to a $300 billion slide in China’s foreign-exchange reserves over the last four quarters. It also made the yuan the best performer in emerging markets, a factor behind last month’s 8.3 percent slide in exports. The yuan’s real effective exchange rate — a measure that’s adjusted for inflation and trade with other nations — climbed 13 percent over the last four quarters and was the highest among 32 major currencies tracked by Bank for International Settlements indexes.

Effective immediately, market-makers who submit prices for the PBOC’s reference rate will have to consider the previous day’s closing spot rate, foreign-exchange demand and supply, as well as changes in major currency rates, the central bank said in a statement. Previous guidelines made no mention of those criteria. FULL REPORT

Obama now saying Iran can produce Nuclear Weapon Down the Road

Posted: 10 Aug 2015 09:19 PM PDT

U.S. President Barack Obama pauses while speaking about gun violence during an address to the United States Conference of Mayors in San Francisco June 19, 2015. President Barack Obama says the landmark nuclear deal with Iran might still leave Tehran with the ability to accumulate a weapon’s worth of nuclear fuel within a matter of months 15 years down the road. In an interview with NPR, Obama said that Iran’s ‘breakout time’ — or the time needed to produce enough weapons-grade uranium for a single nuclear device — would plunge to ‘a matter of months’ 15 years into the deal.

Obama added that this 15-year delay in Iran’s capabilities was one of the virtues of the agreement that US and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany (the P5+1) signed with Iran in July. ‘If in fact the breakout times now are a few months, and we’re able to push that breakout time out to a year so that we have more time and space to see whether or not Iran is cheating on an agreement, kicking out inspectors, going for a nuclear weapon; if the breakout time is extended for 15 years and then it goes back to where it is right now, why is that a bad deal.’ Obama said. The acknowledgment of Iran’s future capabilities hints at a trade-off that lies at the heart of the nuclear deal’s logic. FULL REPORT

Everybody Has To Pay This New Obamacare Tax

Posted: 10 Aug 2015 08:54 PM PDT

The 41 percent sticker stun increment doesn’t stop in 2015, in any case. Throughout the following four years, the statutorily ordered Obamacare charges are relied upon to twofold once more. Throughout the following decade, buyers will pay more than $145 billion for the assessment, as indicated by the Congressional Budget Office. The duty will keep on going up every single year into what’s to come.

The expense was covered by congressional creators in segment 9010 of the law and was imagined as an approach to raise future stores to pay for Obamacare. The Obamacare expenses were planned by the program’s creators to be deferred, kicking in just in 2014 at $8 billion and mushrooming into a $14.3 billion yearly sticker on protection strategies by 2018.

Republican Sen. John Barrasso, who favors annulment of segment 9010, said the duty “is another sample of how the president’s human services law was composed so the most excruciating parts of the law kick in years after the fact.” CBO reported the charge was a “statutorily settled” sum that must be gathered every year from buyers, rather than a rate. The statute portrays the toll is a “yearly expense” yet social insurance market analysts say it has been regularly alluded to as an extract charge.

The Joint Committee on Taxation said the Obamacare assessment was “like an extract duty in view of the business cost of wellbeing protection contracts.” The board anticipated the charge on protection strategies would be borne by customers. The board likewise told then-Sen. Jon Kyl in a June 2011 letter that, “an extract charge for the most part is borne by purchasers as higher costs.” An actuarial survey of the Section 9010 by the administration firm Oliver Wyman for the wellbeing protection industry anticipated that individual policyholders will pay $514 more this year because of the Obamacare charge.

The individuals who utilize little gathering arrangements will see an ascent of $688, while family scope would ascend by $719, the firm expressed. Incidentally, the elderly and poor people — the individuals why should assumed advantage most from Obamacare — will be unfavorably influenced by the new expense, as will monetarily hard-squeezed state governments. Area 9010 commands that expenses must be paid for seniors who depend on Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D. China Has Accessed Private Emails of Top Obama Administration Officials Since 2010

Posted: 10 Aug 2015 08:43 PM PDT

Cyber spies in China have been accessing the private emails of “many” top Obama administration officials since at least April 2010, according to top secret documentation and a senior official in the U.S. intelligence community. NBC News reported: The email grab — first codenamed “Dancing Panda” by U.S. officials, and then ”Legion Amethyst” — was detected in April 2010, according to a top secret NSA briefing from 2014. The intrusion into personal emails was still active at the time of the briefing and, according to the senior official, is still going on. In 2011, Google disclosed that the private gmail accounts of some U.S. officials had been compromised, but the briefing shows that private email accounts from other providers were compromised as well.

According to the intelligence official, the personal email accounts of “all top national security and trade officials” were targeted in the cyber attack. Government email addresses, however, were not compromised because of their security. News of the massive breach comes just as former secretary of State Hillary Clinton is facing scrutiny for her use of a private email account during her time working in the Obama administration. Clinton served as secretary of State from January 2009 to February 2013, indicating that her email account was likely targeted in the cyber attack. FULL STORY

Jonathan Cahn’s Prophetic Warning Drives ‘Gay Citizen’ Complaint

At the point when Jonathan Cahn tended to Congress at the Washington: Man of Prayer occasion, he was out to caution of nearing prophetic judgment if America did not turn from her naughty ways. It was an intense message, and one the Varnell, Georgia, Police Department felt the need to impart to those they ensure.

In his discourse, Cahn announced that America won’t bow her knees to Baal, however to one genuine God: “No lord can overrule the laws of God, no request would he be able to abrogate the request of God, and no judgment of man can remain against the judgments of God. Only Two Religions!

I don’t know if you know this but there are only two religions in the entire world.

You might say I’m nuts.  There are hundreds if not thousands!

wearing masksBut there is one religion that likes to put on hundreds if not thousands of different masks on, and so ultimately there are only two: the religion of Human Achievement and the religion of Divine Accomplishment.

You see Islam, Mormonism, Buddhism, Catholicism, Judaism and every single religion that you have ever heard of, ultimately teaches some form of a works-based salvation. They say that you have to be a little more good than bad in order to make it to heaven. These religions encourage you to hand God a resume when you face Him one day. The resume will be filled with all your accomplishments. It will list everything you’ve done for other people, every penny you’ve given to charity and every good deed you’ve done. God will look over this resume and say, “Good job! You’ve made it into heaven”.

The problem is that if you were to enter into heaven because of a resume based on your accomplishments God would get no glory; you would be the one who gets all the praise. In fact, Ephesians 2:9 would say that salvation is not of works lest you patting-self-on-back-1should boast! Genesis chapter one shows us that God created the entire universe including you. Everything He created is designed to bring Him glory. The problem is that sin has entered the world, and from birth we all have replaced exalting God with exalting ourselves. Everything we do from birth is geared towards bringing us glory and bringing praise to ourselves. We all have a throne in our hearts that God should be sitting and reigning on, but instead we are born with ourselves sitting on it. We are so used to it we don’t even notice it to the point where we all think that our resumes are good enough to get us into heaven.

my mom thinks im coolOf course we are going to think that we are good people! Of course my mom is going to tell me I’m a good person! But what does your Creator think? He says in Romans 3:23 that we all have sinned and fall short of His glory. He also says in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death. So if we stand before God and start listing accomplishments or hand Him a resume we might as well slap Jesus in the face because God is going to look at the resume and say, “I killed my only Son because you were not good enough to get to me!”

And that’s where the only other religion comes in.

The religion of Divine Accomplishment. God saw your situation, and decided that since man was so sinful and could not save himself, that He would come Himself and take the form of a man. He humbled himself, spent nine months in a womb he created, grew up with every temptation you and I face every day, but without sinning. He then died on the cross for our sins, and then rose from the dead and defeated death. He made it possible for human beings to stand before God one day and not hand Him a resume and condemn themselves further, but rather, tell God that they deserve His wrath but have placed their faith and trust in the work that Jesus did on their behalf on the cross and through His resurrection.

You see we need someone to be a substitute for us because no matter how hard we try, we can never bridge the gap between God and us. And the substitute can’t be merely a human.  It must be God Himself.

Do you see the difference between Christianity and every other religion?

“My Last Day” — the Jesus Anime

9 powerful minutes of animation that begins with a thief behind bars watching the scourging of Jesus, and it ends with the thief dying next to Jesus, and waking to see Him in a beautiful place.

The dying thief: What was so great about his faith?

There are many acts of extraordinary faith in the Bible. The one that has impressed me the most concerns the dying thief on the cross. We could take the approach that he had nothing to lose, so he decided to cast his lot with Jesus. But this makes absolutely no sense of the text and the context.
In this conversion we have a specific fulfillment of Christ’s first words on the cross. No sooner had Christ spoken the words, “Father, forgive them,” had the Father answered that prayer by turning a once-reviling criminal into a Christ-glorifying saint. While the soon-to-be converted criminal was not directly responsible for Christ’s death, he nevertheless joined with those who were and was thus indirectly addressed when Christ asked for God to forgive “them.”
Christ, the sinless one, was numbered with or counted among the transgressors (Isa. 53:12; Luke 22:37), all of whom have a bigger problem than the day-to-day sins they commit. They hate Christ, the God-man. Anyone who has a master other than the Lord Jesus hates him (Lk. 16:13; Gal. 4:8). That these two criminals loathed him is clearly manifested during the crucifixion: “And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way” (Matt. 27:44).
When the criminal who was converted was doing his worst against Christ, Christ was doing his best for this criminal.
The conversion of the one criminal was most extraordinary and testifies to the power of Christ’s prayer and the grace of God. Why?
This criminal’s faith did not come at a time such as when Christ turned water into wine; or performed miracles, such as walking on water, opening the eyes of a blind man, or raising Lazarus from the dead. No! The criminal believed on the Messiah while he was hanging as one cursed upon a tree. The criminal trusted in and boldly defended the one whose disciples had abandoned him. Jesus was at his lowest when this criminal asked to be remembered in Christ’s kingdom.
When he was on the cross, did anyone publicly cry out, as John the Baptist did, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn. 1:29)? But this is essentially what the dying thief did. Little wonder, then, that Christ should promise him a place in his kingdom: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (Lk. 23:43).
The criminal acknowledged he was guilty; he acknowledged that Christ was not (“this man has done nothing wrong”); he feared God; but, and here is the key: the criminal did not merely want to be in a better place. He wanted to be with Christ in a better place: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Lk. 23:42). The criminal believed “against all hope”.
Heaven is a better place because that is where Christ is. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but not everyone wants to go to Christ’s heaven. Not so with this criminal: he saw, with his eyes, Christ at his worst; but with the eyes of faith, he believed that Christ would soon be at his best, and so put his faith in a dying king.
Christ is always – always! – willing to save even the most miserable of sinners. A recognition of guilt (Lk. 23:40) and a confidence in him and not ourselves (Lk. 23:42) will always lead to the most assuring truth a sinner can receive: the Savior welcomes such into his paradise!

The Anatomy of Sexual Sin

“In Colossians 3:5 Paul provides us with a list of sins, all inter-related, that always accompany sexual sin. He starts with the acts of sexual sin – sexual immorality and impurity – and concludes with the cause – idolatry. He works backwards from the outward manifestation to the inner cause.”

Authority And Submission (Part 2)

“The fifth commandment requires us to regard an office, not a person. This is not an easy thing for sinners and perhaps it is particularly difficult for Americans. In American history and culture that rebellious impulse is particularly strong. This nation exists because of a Revolution in the 18th century against authority.”

n the first part we considered the most basic teaching of the fifth commandment.

A Gospel Problem: Thoughts on the Planned Parenthood Scandal

“What kind of society is it that would tolerate such barbarism? Perhaps some in the past could have pled ignorance, but now the dirty secret is out and there is no hiding it. The abortion industry of which Planned Parenthood is the most outstanding leader is barbaric and inhuman. There is no more pretending that it was just “her own body” that was in question. And there is no more hiding the barbarism of abortion.”

There is No Pro-Life Case For Planned Parenthood

“The claim they’re all making, in different ways, is that even though Planned Parenthood performs hundreds of thousands of abortions every year (while lobbying constantly against any restriction on the practice), to oppose channeling public dollars to its family planning operations is to be objectively pro-abortion, because those operations objectively prevent many more abortions still.”

How ISIS Is (Really) Shaping My Theology

“I still remember the first time I viewed one of ISIS’s twisted pieces of video propaganda. I could not watch it until the end, the grisly scene was too much for my soft, suburban conscience. I had never seen anything like it in my life. Leaving my pastor’s study in our church, I went to the sanctuary and paced around in prayer for the better part of an hour.”

T.D. Jakes Comes Out for “Gay Rights” and “LGBT Churches,” Says Position is “Evolving”

It comes as no surprise that Oneness Pentecostal and Word of Faith preacher T.D. Jakes would make these concerning statements. Since he’s anti-trinitarian and preaches the heretical prosperity gospel which saves no one, we should not listen to a word this man says as he’s clearly a false teacher. He states that the issue of homosexuality “is complex.” Although that may […]

Ken Ham Says America’s 20-Somethings Are Leading Country Into Downward Spiral, Blames Belief in Evolution

Answers in Genesis CEO and President Ken Ham has said America is heading into a downward spiral, after taking a look at recent surveys pointing out the beliefs of the 20-somethings age group. The creationist blamed the belief in evolution for undermining the Bible.

“As part of the America’s Research Group research, we wanted to gauge the spiritual state of the general population. When you specifically consider the 20 somethings (ages 20–29), you can get a glimpse of what the ‘new America’ will be if this culture continues on the same downward spiral,” Ham wrote in an AiG blog on Monday.

Abortion Horror Stories

Abortion of course is always horrible because it always results in a dead baby. Abortion does not solve any problems, it does not offer any solutions – it simply kills a baby. So every abortion is a horror story of unspeakable magnitude. But as bad as abortion is, there can be even more horror to come from this.

The ongoing saga of the baby killing machine known as Planned Parenthood and its harvesting and selling of baby parts is one obvious example of this. Yet despite all the horrors already being unveiled and exposed, the folks at PP still think they are all just sweet angels.

For example, Heather Saunders Estes, the president of Planned Parenthood Northern California, is defending her organization, saying: “What we do is legal and ethical and we’re proud of it.” Not to be outdone, the Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains clinic caught out selling baby parts has posted a ‘proud’ sign on its windows.

pp 26But leave aside for the moment the diabolical actions of PP. Plenty of other horror stories can be mentioned. Consider the case of a mongrel dad who is suing a hospital for allowing his daughter to be born. The story goes like this:

The father of a teenage girl is suing an Italian hospital that was supposed to carry out an abortion to prevent her birth, claiming he has suffered ‘psychological damage’.
The baby girl was born in 2001 to a couple in Alessandria, in north-west Italy, who already had a son and did not want any more children.
The father, who had worked as a labourer and the mother who worked for a cleaning company, discovered the pregnancy by accident during the diagnosis of a cyst and decided to terminate the pregnancy.
But the embryo remained attached to the womb even after the abortion and by the time they discovered the mistake it was no longer possible to have an abortion, by law.
Lower courts have dismissed the case but Italy’s highest court will now hear an appeal.
The mother had received a settlement from the hospital because the birth had had economic repercussions on the family.

Wow, nice guy. “Psychological damage” for having a daughter. Imagine how she must feel. Every day she has to live with the fact that her dad effectively hates her and does not want her. And of course there was nothing wrong with the daughter – she just impinged upon their lifestyle.

As another report notes, there are sadly many such lawsuits:

Most so-called “wrongful birth” lawsuits are filed because doctors missed a fetal abnormality during a prenatal test; and parents claim that if they had known their child would be disabled, they would’ve had an abortion.
In fact, recent figures released by the Department of Health reveal that between 2003 and 2013 the National Health Service (NHS) paid out more than $100 million in U.S. dollars in 164 cases of “wrongful births”. However, one case out of the United Kingdom concerns a woman who sued the NHS after giving birth to a perfectly healthy child, just like the couple in Italy….

Imagine suing hospitals and medical institutions because you preferred to have a dead baby. The horror of abortion just keeps on expanding and multiplying. A culture of death will always lead to more death, to more barbarism, and to more horror.

And it does not get much more horrible than this. Consider another utterly gruesome story of quite healthy babies being slaughtered by their own parents. It is an absolutely devastating story, so be forewarned. But it is worth quoting at length from:

An abortion industry worker left her job at a Planned Parenthood facility – and eventually brought four of her colleagues out of the abortion industry with her – shortly after she witnessed a woman abort her quadruplets. Most of them were delivered stillborn as she sat on the toilet or stumbled through the hallway, writhing in pain.
Two of the “perfectly formed” boys had their arms “wrapped around each other,” according to an e-mail she sent pro-life advocate Abby Johnson.
Johnson, who heads And Then There Were None (ATTWN), an outreach to abortion industry employees, says the woman left Planned Parenthood the day she saw a woman having a medication abortion for all four children in her womb.
The email said that the woman came to Planned Parenthood “in obvious pain” after “another abortion facility down the road had given her a very heavy dose of misoprostol to abort her quadruplets. She was already into her second trimester.”
“We guided her into the bathroom, undressed her from the waist down, and instructed her to sit on the toilet,” she wrote.
Then the misoprostol kicked in.
“We were all horrified at the events that unfolded in the next few minutes.”
“The first baby fell into the toilet,” the unnamed woman wrote. As they got up to walk into the operating room, “the next two babies fell out and were hanging from her. The arms of the perfectly formed lifeless baby boys were wrapped around each other. ”
After she finally reached the operating room, “she was still in so much pain,” despite IV sedation. “The fourth baby had had to be suctioned out of her. He came out in pieces.”
Heartbroken by what she saw, she broke down in tears.
“I remember sobbing with a co-worker as we sorted through the remains of the fourth baby boy in the POC lab. We cradled the tiny intact babies in our arms and cried for them.”
“I knew that I could no longer do this work. I was done,” she resolved.
She quit her job that day and, shortly afterwards, helped four of her former colleagues leave the industry, as well.

There are no words…. The bit about the two babies hugging each other in their dying moments is almost too much to bear. But such stories must be told. This is the reality of abortion. This is the horror and sheer hell of abortion. It is not the sweetness and light which the baby killers try to portray it as.

It is about pain. It is about suffering. It is about blood being shed – lots of it. It is about death. It is pure horror. Anyone reading these words who refuses to act and become a mouthpiece for those who cannot speak for themselves is actually as guilty of this horror as those performing it in the abortion mills.

In the recent past the horrors of Nazism had to be opposed. That is why the Nazi-resister Dietrich Bonhoeffer said this: “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” He also said that we must do everything in our power to prevent such evil:

“We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself.” Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel put it this way: “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.”

And William Wilberforce said this about the slave trade which he worked so hard to expose and overturn: “You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know.” All these words are of course fully true of the abortion holocaust. No one who reads what I have described here can say any longer that they did not know.

It is now up to each and every one of us what we will do about it.

An Introverted Christian

An Introverted ChristianWho would have guessed that introversion would become such a popular subject? Who would have guessed it would even carry a book to the New York Times list of bestsellers in Susan Cain’s Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking? Her book brought into the public eye a personality type that is both common and misunderstood. While I cannot agree with all she wrote, I was glad to see her open up what has become a fascinating conversation. There is no doubt that I am an introvert. If we place introversion and extroversion on opposite sides of a line and say that each one of us falls somewhere between the two extremes, I would be pretty far from center along the introvert side of the scale. I may not be as far along as some people, and I still enjoy some exposure to crowds of people, but at heart I gain energy and perspective in solitude and then expend it in a crowd. My default reaction to a crowd is to run away to find a place of quiet. I love and enjoy people, but do better with small groups than large ones. Even after several years of public speaking, it still takes a lot of effort and self-denial to stand in front of a crowd. I walk to the front of a room slowly and, when finished, sprint to the back. That’s just the way I am.

Quiet allowed me to better understand myself. In some ways Cain introduced me to me. I had all kinds of those “Aha!” moments where things I’ve long thought or felt suddenly made sense. It was refreshing. Yet as I progressed through the book, I found it doing something unexpected deep inside. I began to feel a kind of peace with my introversion that may have gone a little too far. Even Aileen noticed it in me and pointed it out. She noticed that I began to feel justified in fleeing crowds and being by myself. She said I was becoming selfish.

I believe that God made me introverted. It seems clear that some of us are naturally more outgoing while others are naturally inclined to be quiet. I am naturally quiet and this is part of God’s good design. Neither one is inherently wrong and neither one is intrinsically better than the other. But what Cain does not acknowledge, writing as she does from a secular perspective, is that we inhabit a world of sin where any trait or quality can be used for God-glorifying ends or for self-glorifying ends. Not only that, but God calls us to be always willing to deny our desires in order to serve others. Both introverts and extroverts will face particular temptations to sin. My temptation as an introvert is to run away from people instead of serve people. It is to be selfish instead of giving.

The Christian life is a life of self-denial. It is a life of saying, “Even though this may be what I want, duty compels me to do something different.” There are many times when I am to deny my own desires in order to serve others. Even the desire to be alone. David Powlison says it well:

The Christian life is a great paradox. Those who die to self, find self. Those who die to their cravings will receive many times as much in this age, and, in the age to come, eternal life (Luke 18:29). They will find new passions worth living for and dying for. If I crave happiness, I will receive misery. If I crave to be loved, I will receive rejection. If I crave significance, I will receive futility. If I crave control, I will receive chaos. If I crave reputation, I will receive humiliation. But if I long for God and His wisdom and mercy, I will receive God and wisdom and mercy. Along the way, sooner or later, I will also receive happiness, love, meaning, order, and glory.

I have no right to crave introverted solitude. Rather, the gospel compels me to deny even that trait and all its desires in order to serve other people. I am introverted, but this does not give me a different calling in life than the gregarious Christian.

What I had to face as in Quiet is that introversion is what I am, not who I am. And this is where the discussion of introversion and extroversion often seems to go wrong. We elevate these traits too high and use them to justify selfishness instead of selflessness. I have to be slow to define myself in a-biblical categories. This is not to say that it is wrong to say that I am an introvert, but that this is a distinction the Bible does not make. With this being the case, I don’t want to allow introversion to define me or to dictate my behavior. Introversion is a useful description, but a poor definition.

The Activity Driven Church – Rainer on Leadership #149

On today’s episode, we discuss the activity-driven church and how that has hindered ministry in many churches. Churches doing activities for activities’ sake have created an insulated membership and stifled community involvement. Today we talk about how to get your church back on track with activities that match the purpose of the church.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Church activities are often the end instead of the means for churches.
  • Activity-driven churches often believe they are being more spiritual or church-health-oriented when they’re doing those activities.
  • Busyness in the local church is one of the biggest deterrents to evangelism.
  • So many believers get busy doing church things that they don’t get to know unchurched people.
  • Are you asking what the purpose is of every church activity?
  • Too many churches are involved in activities which do not accomplish the mission of the church.

The seven points we discuss about activity-driven churches are:

  1. Activity is not biblical purpose.
  2. Busyness can take us away from connecting with other believers and non-believers.
  3. An activity-driven church often is not strategic in its ministries.
  4. A congregation that is too busy can hurt families.
  5. An activity-driven church often has no presence in the community.
  6. Activity-driven churches tend to have “siloed” ministries.
  7. Churches that focus on activities tend to practice poor stewardship.

Why Satan Is So Skillful at Tempting Us to Sin – “Satan is a formidable foe. He opposes all those who are created in the image of God and is bent on their complete and utter destruction. What makes Satan so skillful at tempting us to sin? In his little book Fighting Satan, Joel Beeke offers 6 reasons…”

An unshakeable foundation for human dignity – “One of the most dangerous things about fudging on the first few chapters of Genesis—or really, on any part of the Bible—is what you lose. And I’m the first to admit there are undoubtedly some things that I am in error on, perhaps even seriously.”

Eating Disorder or Disorderly Eating? – “Anorexia nervosa (voluntary starving), bulimia (self-induced vomiting), comfort eating (ice-cream therapy), and muscle dysmorphia (or “megarexia” – a fear of being too small) are all staples in a psychologist’s handbook. Some of these may have a physical malfunction as a catalyst, but often they can be a direct result of sinful thinking.”

How Did We Get Our Teeth? – “How did we—and every other toothed vertebrate on Earth—get teeth? Enquiring evolutionists want to know! In fact, they have been debating that question for some time. The discovery of teeth in a small extinct fish called Romundina has put a fresh face on the evolutionary story of how we got our smiles.”

“One is saved, and we may not despair; the other is lost, and we may not presume.” Spurgeon

A Tender Heart

Regeneration, Repentance and Reformation

Written by A.W. Pink, 1939
 A-Tender-Heart

“Because your heart was tender,
and you have humbled yourself before the Lord,
when you heard what I spoke against this place . . .
I also have heard you, says the Lord.”

–2 Kings 22:19

This was part of the message which God sent in response to an inquiry made by the godly king Josiah.

It occurred at a time when the earthly people of God had sunken very low—so low that “the Book of the Law” had been lost, and was only then recovered (v. 8). The sacred Book was read in the hearing of the king, and so deeply was he affected by its solemn message, “he tore his clothes” (v. 11). As he learned of the greatness of Jehovah’s wrath, which was kindled against his subjects, Josiah sent messengers to inquire of the Lord. The answer was that sore…

Daily Devotionals: (11th Aug.) The Grace of Fear

thinkGOSPEL blog

Reading: Genesis 3:10

Immediately after the fall of man into sin there is a strange calmness in the Garden of Eden. There is no thundering and lightening as would later accompany the justice of God against sin (as at Sinai and Calvary for example). The apparent calmness of Eden however, is contrasted with the turmoil in Adam’s heart. Fear, the most penetrating emotion of the human psyche has disrupted the once peaceful heart of man.

Where did Adam’s fear come from? Contrary to modern psychology, it was not from circumstances around him. As we have already noted, the garden was strangely calm. It was not from an abusive childhood. It was not even from the promise of punishment: “Thou shalt surely die.” Adam’s fear came from the knowledge that God was there. Adam’s fear is clearly from inside; it is his own conscience. But why did Adam fear? God had…

Brian Houston exposes Brian Houston of lying

“For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,” and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” So let no one boast in men.” 1Corinthians 3:19-21a

William Lane Craig lectures on the moral argument at Georgia Tech

WINTERY KNIGHT

Making sense of the meaning of atheism Making sense of the meaning of atheism

This video has 3 parts, as well as questions and answers in individual clips.

For those who cannot watch the video, you can grab the MP3 file of the lecture, or read this essay by Dr. Craig which covers exactly the same ground as the video. The essay is for Christians already familiar with basic apologetics.

Part 1 of 3:

Part 2 of 3:

Part 2 of 3:

Here’s a quick couple of quotes from the essay for those who cannot watch:

If there is no God, then any ground for regarding the herd morality evolved by homo sapiens as objectively true seems to have been removed. After all, what is so special about human beings? They are just accidental by-products of nature which have evolved relatively recently on an infinitesimal speck of dust lost somewhere in a hostile and mindless universe and…

THE BIBLICAL GOD: THE PRECONDITION OF INTELLIGIBILITY (Repost)

DR. RELUCTANT

This (re)post is a “stand-alone.” But I think it is rather important in its own way.  I apologize for the formatting.

“When the Christian sets forth his outlook he will stress the kind of God to whom he is committed, the nature of the world in relation to God, and the nature of man as God’s creature. The Christian God is totally self-sufficient, and in Him there is an equal ultimacy of unity and diversity (being Triune). Everything outside of Him derives its existence, character, meaning, and purpose in light of Him and His sovereign counsel.” – Greg L. Bahnsen, Presuppositional Apologetics: Stated and Defended, 16.

Logic/Reason…..precondition ……. God who is immaterial perfect rationality

Morality…………..precondition ……..God who is righteous

Truth……………….precondition ……..God who is unchanging Truth

Uniformity……….precondition ……..God who upholds regularity (providence)

Order………………..precondition ……..God who imprints His order on creation

Be Humble in Doctrinal Matters

A Ruby In The Rough

Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. ~Matthew 16:6

Brian Schwertley, “Christ’s Warning Concerning False Teachers:”

Jacques de L'Ange - A young Woman at her Toilet, 'Pride'“The fact that our Lord’s admonition is directed to the apostles tells us that no one should consider himself to be immune to the influence of false doctrine. There is never a time in our walk with Christ when we can let down our guard. There is not one person who can claim a level of knowledge, sanctification or theological maturity that protects him from the doctrinal assaults of Satan. Even the most godly and knowledgeable believers are able to err in doctrine. In fact, the more we understand about God, Christ, faith and life, the more we realize how feeble our knowledge really is. Therefore, regarding doctrinal matters we must be very humble. We must be very prayerful and careful regarding…
