Bill Gross said the Federal Reserve has waited so long to raise interest rates that any move now may be labeled “too little too late” as market turmoil restricts the room for policy makers to act. “The ‘too late’ refers to the fact that they may have missed their window of opportunity in early 2015, and the ‘too little’ speaks to my concept of a new neutral policy rate which should be closer to 2 percent nominal, but now cannot be approached without spooking markets.”

As Chinese leader Xi Jinping welcomes Russian President Vladimir Putin to Beijing this week to celebrate the anniversary of the end of World War II, the news on the economic front for the two would-be allies isn’t nearly as positive. China’s market plunge over the last few weeks has added to the pressure, helping knock the ruble to the lowest levels in months. Growing doubts about China’s economic outlook have hit prices for oil, Moscow’s main export, pushing Russia deeper into recession.

The rate of total knee replacements almost doubled between 2000 and 2010 for Americans over 45, while the average age of patients decreased by more than two years, to 66.2. The elective surgeries became the most common inpatient hospital procedure for people over 45 in 2008. Almost 700,000 were performed in 2010.

Slumping oil prices are spurring 4,000-mile diversions of tankers filled with diesel and jet fuel as the price of ship fuel plunges, opening up trading opportunities. At least five tankers will deliver refined products to European ports in August and September, sailing around South Africa rather than using the normal shortcut through Egypt’s Suez Canal, ship tracking data show.

Intel’s new design shrinks the chips’ size and electricity consumption to the point where they can be used as the heart of complete computers built into thumb drives that can be plugged into a monitor or TV, for example. That’s just one new format Intel is hoping will catch the eye of consumers and lure them to replace the estimated 1 billion computers in use that are more than three years old.

THE FOUNDATION

“The essence of government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.” —James Madison, speech in the Virginia constitutional convention, 1829

EDITOR’S NOTE

Seventy years ago today, the Japanese surrendered to Allied Forces aboard the USS Missouri, officially ending World War II. Today is therefore known as “VJ Day.” On Aug. 6 and 9, respectively, the U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Doing so killed as many as 250,000 Japanese, but it also prevented a likely invasion of the Japanese main island and thus saved hundreds of thousands of American lives. U.S. forces occupied Japan for another six-and-a-half years, which established Japan as a peaceful world player. Today is a reminder that tyranny must be defeated, not appeased, if Liberty is to flourish.

Email Document Dump Catches Clinton in Serious Lie

2015-09-02-58bdde2f_large.jpg

Hillary Clinton has repeatedly claimed that she never sent classified emails over her private server. Oh, she might have received some that were unintentionally unmarked, but she claims she was clean as a freshly wiped email server. But in the newest round of Hillary’s emails released Monday, the State Department, sure enough, redacted email after email from public view. The Clinton campaign responded with a memo claiming the emails where just a mildly interesting sideshow into the internal communications of a presidential cabinet member. The memo said of the classified portions, “This group of emails include 125 that have had portions classified after the fact, but as confirmed again by the State Department, nothing she sent or received was marked classified.” But as The Federalist’s Sean Davis reports, the State Department will declassify material 10 or 15 years after the material is either created or after it receives an after-the-fact classification. State chose to declassify this material from the time it was created. In other words, from the moment Clinton’s fingers typed up an email and she hit send, the document should have been classified. But her material never went through the proper classification channels, making her argument now a pathetically circular one. Furthermore, she sent some of these emails to Clinton operative Sidney Blumenthal, a person outside the State Department. What’s worse? Keep in mind that these are only the emails that survived Clinton’s email purge. She knew exactly what she was doing.

Blumenthal on Boehner: The Truth

From the latest batch of Hillary Clinton’s emails, one notable communiqué is from Sidney Blumenthal in response to the 2010 midterm elections, when Republicans retook the House. Blumenthal wrote to Clinton, “[House Speaker John] Boehner is despised by the younger, more conservative members of the House. … He is louche, alcoholic, lazy, and without any commitment to any principle. … He is not [Newt] Gingrich, the natural leader of a ‘revolution,’ riding the crest into power. He is careworn and threadbare, banal and hollow…” The unfortunate truth is that many conservatives would have agreed with Blumenthal in 2010 and many more would agree with him today. Boehner has been and remains a colossal failure as speaker of the House, despite the huge Republican victories in both the 2010 and 2014 midterms. Though there have been significant gains in conservative House ranks, Boehner has put up a gauntlet blocking the ascension of most of those genuine conservatives to positions of power in the House.

We certainly agree with Blumenthal’s assessment about his sobriety, too. In fact, we don’t believe Boehner has been sober at a microphone for years. We’ve questioned House members close to Boehner, and they all make excuses for his slurred words and demeanor. Most suggest some variant of, “He is just exhausted.” We believe, however, that Boehner’s cadre of House confidants continue to prop him up, sober or not, because he is the House power broker and their meal ticket.

Leading the GOP Field: Candidates With No Prior Office

CNN has given Carly Fiorina the chance to appear on the stage at the Sept. 16 presidential primary debate after announcing a changed method for determining which candidates would be invited. Instead of picking the 10 candidates who performed best in the polls conducted from July 16 to Sept. 10, CNN will pick candidates who do well in polls conducted from Aug. 7 to Sept. 10. There haven’t been as may polls during the late summer as CNN predicted, and some candidates who have been gaining popularity would not have made it onto the stage if CNN kept its metric unchanged. With Fiorina’s rise after her stellar debate performance, and Ben Carson closing the gap with Donald Trump in the polls, the Republican field is currently led by three candidates who have never held elected office. It demonstrates that a sizable swath of grassroots conservatives are sick and tired of how the establishment GOP (looking at you, John Boehner) has run Washington. And who can blame them? The GOP in Congress caved to Barack Obama’s demands at the beginning of the year when he sought funding for his executive orders on immigration. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refuses to consider defunding Planned Parenthood, despite the growing disgust over its baby-parts trafficking. The primary season is the time for the party to decide its agenda and leadership style. The status quo will no longer do, and CNN has done it’s part to prevent its rules from rigging that discussion.

FEATURED RIGHT ANALYSIS

No One Out-Trumps Donald Trump

By Jim Harrington

2015-09-02-97dc0111_large.jpg

What has Donald Trump’s candidacy done for the GOP presidential race? Well, beyond creating a spectacle, he has affirmed the legitimate anger of many grassroots voters. And he’s creating some awkward moments for the rest of the field.

Attitude and not-of-the-establishment credibility are key to his rise, but immigration is perhaps the central issue. As if to highlight that fact, the murder of Kathryn Steinle by an illegal alien in the sanctuary city of San Francisco brought the issue into stark relief. Her family is now suing San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, the Bureau of Land Management, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Steinle’s death is among the most noted such cases, but there are hundreds of other citizens across the country assaulted and murdered by illegals. And if people start suing sanctuary cities and winning, it’s going to change policies.

Which brings us to the GOP presidential race, and Republicans eager to sound as tough as Trump.

On Sunday, The Hill reported, “Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is open to the idea of building a wall along America’s northern border with Canada.” That story was repeated in news outlets throughout the world.

But Walker didn’t exactly say it. The truth is that his full statement was intentionally skewed by the Leftmedia.

As the Washington Examiner explains, “Walker said in an interview … on ‘Meet the Press’ that he believes the northern border poses a legitimate security issue. As Walker started to elaborate on these concerns, his interviewer, Chuck Todd, asked whether he supports building a wall on the Canadian border.”

Walker’s reply was unclear due to crosstalk, but he said, “Some people have asked us about that in New Hampshire. They raised some very legitimate concerns, including some law enforcement folks. … So that is a legitimate issue for us to look at.”

The “legitimate concerns” he meant were the ones he had mentioned moments earlier about the security of our borders in general. But suddenly — the Leftmedia tells us — he wants a wall on the northern border.

No doubt Walker should have been clearer. And therein lies the problem with trying to out-Trump Donald Trump. The Leftmedia’s just waiting to pounce on any “racist” or otherwise “offensive” comment from any Republican candidate.

Still, despite the risks, other candidates do continue trying to outdo Trump. Gov. Chris Christie is another example, with his suggestion that he would track immigrants like FedEx does packages.

“I’m going to have Fred Smith, the founder of FedEx, come work for the government for three months. Just come for three months to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and show these people,” he said at a town hall meeting. “You go online and at any moment FedEx can tell you where that package is,” he elaborated. “Yet we let people come into this country with visas, and the minute they come in we lose track of them.”

It’s true that people with visas come into this country and just disappear. We have no idea where they are, and, in fact, they make up a large portion of the illegal population. Christie says we need to send someone to immigrants with expiring visas and say, “Time to go.”

Nearly half a million people enter the U.S. on visas annually, but short of outfitting each with an ankle bracelet, how does Christie propose to find any given one? This is a free country; people move about freely, and these people in particular want to avoid being caught.

More vexing, how can we track the hundreds of thousands who sneak into the country without visas each year? It’s true that a significant number get into legal trouble, and they can be deported. But at least for now, they can easily get right back in. FedEx can only track packages it knows exist.

After getting flack for his suggestion, Christie wanted to explain it, and Chris Wallace gave him the chance. His point is that private enterprise can do things better than government, which we all know is true.

But the lesson for Walker, Christie and every other politician in the GOP field is that, because they don’t have Trump’s attitude and style — never mind that most of them are elected politicians and he’s not — the reality-TV show “Keeping Up With Trump” is never going to play well for them.

While Hillary Clinton went off the rails with her Republicans-are-Nazis comments about shipping illegals out of the country in boxcars, such rhetoric plays well among lefties. Rand Paul, likewise struggling to handle a Trump-induced drop in the polls, thought one good Nazi allusion deserved another, so he’s mocked his fellow candidates for supposedly one-upping each other to the point that they’re saying, “I’ll put them in camps.”

Of course, Republicans have been called Nazis so often that it’s lost its bite.

Clinton and Paul don’t see the forest for the trees, however. Investor’s Business Daily reports on its latest poll on illegal immigration. It asked “913 adults coast to coast if they ‘support or oppose mandatory deportation of illegal immigrants…” Some 59% support deportation — and they support it across all income and educational levels, in both urban and rural areas, and across sex and age lines (with the exception of the 18-24 range).

Assuming the poll is even reasonably accurate, its findings pose a significant challenge for the GOP — except for Trump. It’s time for the party to rethink its immigration policy. Republican candidates don’t need to beat Trump at his own game, but they can surely devise an immigration policy that’s humane, equitable and upholds Rule of Law. It’s important to get started before Trump takes all the cards.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Ryan T. Anderson: “Kim Davis, the clerk for Rowan County, has a sincere religious belief that marriage is the union of husband and wife, and says she cannot in good faith issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple. As a result she stopped issuing marriage licenses to all couples… The result: no one could get a license in Rowan County. This created a problem. The citizens of Rowan County have a right to receive in a timely and efficient manner the various government provisions — including licenses — to which they are entitled. At the same time, the employees of Rowan County (including civil servants) have rights, including religious liberty rights, and they are entitled to religious accommodations. … [T]here are ways in which public policy can create a win-win situation: where all eligible couples can receive a license and where as many employees as possible can be accommodated. North Carolina provides a great example. The state legislature earlier this year passed a law that protects magistrates who object to performing solemnizing ceremonies for same-sex marriages and clerks who object to issuing same-sex marriage licenses. It also makes clear that no one can be denied a marriage license, but magistrates or clerks could recuse themselves from the process behind the scenes should they have sincere objections to same-sex marriage. … Religious objection is not a trump card, but employees’ religious objections should be accommodated when possible.”

For the record: “In the first year of his administration (December 29, 2009, to be exact), President Obama issued Executive Order 13526, entitled ‘Classified National Security Information.’ … [T]he order makes clear that there is one category of information that is automatically deemed classified: information from foreign governments. … [T]he emails [Hillary] Clinton sent, received and stored via her private server system were rife with information from foreign governments. This information was born classified. It makes no difference that these emails were not stamped ‘top secret’; all national security officials with security clearances know that foreign government information is deemed classified and must be handled as such. September 2015 Sure Started Off With Quite A Bang, Eh?

Bang Explosion - Public DomainAfter enduring their worst August in 17 years, U.S. stocks are off to their worst start to a September in 13 years.  Just yesterday, I declared that we would be entering the “danger zone” this month, and it didn’t take long for the action to begin.  Historically, this month is the worst month of the year for stocks, and most of the biggest stock market crashes throughout our history have come in the fall.  On Tuesday, the Dow plunged another 469 points, and it is now down more than 10 percent from the peak of the market back in May.  That means that we have officially entered “correction” territory.  Asian stocks also crashed hard on Tuesday, so did European stocks, and the price of oil plummeted about 8 percent.  For a long time, there have been a lot of people out there that have been warning that a financial crisis would happen in the second half of 2015, and they are being proven right.  It is actually happening. China and Russia are Waging War on America

In a typically cynical article, “GOP presidential candidates have a new country to bash: the People’s Republic of China,” Politico complains about “China-bashing” by various Republican candidates. The story by Nahal Toosi [1] carries the headline, “The Republicans’ Red Scare [2],” but only mentions one time that China is a “communist-led state.” Politico uses the term “red scare” to suggest that the problem is being greatly exaggerated. If there is any doubt about the “red” in Red China, consider the Chinese Constitution, which declares [3], “The People’s Republic of China is a socialist…

Welcome to Quantitative Tightening as $12 Trillion Reserves Fall

The great global monetary tightening of 2015 is under way, but it’s not being led by the Federal Reserve.

Even as U.S. policy makers ponder whether to raise interest rates this month, one recent source of central bank liquidity in financial markets is drying up and the loss of it partly explains August’s trading volatility.

Behind the drawdown are the foreign exchange reserves run by the central banks. Bolstered following financial crises in the late 1990s as a buffer against capital outflows and falling currencies, such hoards fell to $11.43 trillion in the first quarter from a peak of $11.98 trillion in the middle of last year, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Driving the decline is a combination of forces including the economic slowdown and recent devaluation in China, the Fed’s pending rate hike, the collapse of oil and decisions in Switzerland and Japan to cease intervening in currencies.

‘Iran will bolster military until Israel defeated, Palestinians free’; Obama and Kerry empowered Iran

Iran will continue to bolster its military capabilities until it has defeated Israel and gained freedom for the Palestinians, a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander vowed Wednesday. “They (the US and the Zionists) should know that the Islamic Revolution will continue enhancing its preparedness until it overthrows Israel and liberates Palestine,” Iran’s Fars News Agency quoted Brigadier General Mohsen Kazzemeini as saying. Kazzemeini is the IRGC’s top commander in the Tehran Province. “We will continue defending not just our own country, but also all the oppressed people of the world, especially those countries that are standing on the forefront of confrontation with the Zionists,” he said.

Cheney: Obama’s Iran deal a ‘train wreck’

Dick Cheney says President Obama will regret his nuclear deal with Iran, calling the accord a “train wreck.”

“I cannot explain [President Obama’s] motives other than he thinks this is going to be a great legacy for his presidency,” the former vice president told the Washington Free Beacon on Wednesday. “I think it’s going to be a train wreck, and he’s not going to want to claim it down the road. He’ll have to find a way to blame it on somebody else.”

“I think Obama may want to claim it as his legacy as he leaves office, but I think it will never be forgotten in the Middle East as the time the United States turned its back on all its friends and allies and signed on with the mullahs in Tehran,” he said.

Cheney also said the deal will be a black mark on the records of lawmakers who vote to approve it.

“Those who vote for it will at some point look back on it as a very bad vote,” Cheney said. “The fact that [it would be] pumping over $100 billion to the world’s largest supporter of terrorism, lifting the embargo on things like ballistic missiles and conventional armaments, setting a path for [Iran] to pursue the development of nuclear weapons.”

Fresh Warnings of New Madrid Earthquake and Division of Israel

Posted: 02 Sep 2015 08:05 AM PDT

“For behold, in those days and at that time, When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.

On September 15th, the 70th session of the UN General Assembly will take place and it is being widely reported in the international media that France plans to introduce a resolution which will give formal UN Security Council recognition to a Palestinian state shortly after the new session starts. For years, the U.S. government has vetoed such a resolution, but now Barack Obama is indicating that he may not stand with Israel any longer by default. So what happens if America turns it’s back on Israel and helps to “Divide” her? According to the Prophet Joel and Zechariah it will mean swift judgment!

Zechariah 12:2-3 “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.

Joel 3: 1-2 “For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.

Could America turn it’s back on Israel this September? If so could it setup the Country to be struck with a catastrophic earthquake that has been dormant since 1811-1812? See Video below for more details

Russia gearing up to be first world power to insert ground forces into Syria

Posted: 02 Sep 2015 06:01 AM PDT

DEVELOPING
: It looks like the players of future “Prophetic Wars” mentioned in the Bible are slowly lining up! Despite strong denials from Moscow, Russian airborne troops are preparing to land in Syria to fight Islamic State forces. The surprise attack on Monday, Aug. 31, by ISIS forces on the Qadam district of southern Damascus, in which they took over parts of the district – and brought ISIS forces the closest that any Syrian anti-Assad group has ever been to the center of the Syrian capital – is expected to accelerate the Russian military intervention.

Moscow is certainly not ready to endanger the position of President Bashar Assad or his rule in Damascus, and views it as a red line that cannot be crossed. If Russia intervenes militarily in this way, Russia will be the first country from outside the Middle East to send ground forces into the Syrian civil war. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that discussions by the Russo-Syrian Military Commission, which was established last month in Moscow to coordinate the intervention, accelerated during the last few days. Franklin Graham: America’s Walls Are Crumbling But …

Posted: 02 Sep 2015 05:53 AM PDT

In the Bible we read that Nehemiah was discouraged and distressed because the walls of Jerusalem had been broken down and its gates had been burned with fire. He sat down and wept and mourned for his nation—and he cried out to the God of heaven. God heard his prayers and used him to lead the people to rebuild those broken-down walls. They were greatly outnumbered by their enemies and facing opposition and vicious threats. They responded by praying and seeking God, and they went to work rebuilding what had been torn down, even holding their weapons in their hands to protect themselves while they worked. In a miraculously short time—52 days—they rebuilt the walls and hope was restored.

America’s walls of biblical morality are crumbling. Almost everyone I speak with is distraught over the direction our nation is taking. Christianity and our religious freedoms are under siege. Progressives and secularists want to see God removed from everything and to burn every gate of protection. We can’t sit idle. Like Nehemiah we need to take a bold stand. We need to cry out to God on behalf of our nation. Nehemiah confessed the sins and failures of the people, “including myself and my father’s family,” and repented. He prayed, “We have acted very wickedly toward you” (Nehemiah 1:6–7, NIV). FULL REPORT

U.S. manufacturing slowdown adds wrinkle to economic outlook

Posted: 02 Sep 2015 05:45 AM PDT

U.S. Manufacturing has struck a more than two-year low in August, but sturdy gains in automobile sales and construction spending suggested the economy remained on solid footing. The sharp slowdown in manufacturing, which has been hurt by a strong dollar and deep spending cuts in the energy sector, was probably an early indication of fallout from the recent turmoil in stock markets, economists said. And it could bolster the case against the Federal Reserve raising interest rates later this month, they said.

“It suggests that the recent eruption in uncertainty toward Chinese and global growth is beginning to affect U.S. business decisions,” said Millan Mulraine, deputy chief economist at TD Securities in New York. “We look for the Fed to take a pass on raising rates this month as they continue to assess the incoming economic data for any evidence of fallout.” Fed Vice Chairman Stanley Fischer told CNBC last week it was too early to decide whether the stock market rout had made a rate hike this month less compelling. The U.S. central bank’s policy-setting committee meets Sept. 16-17. FULL REPORT

New Russian Internet Law Sparks Surveillance Fear

Posted: 02 Sep 2015 05:30 AM PDT

According to a recent report, new Russian law enacted Tuesday requires companies to store the data they collect about Russian citizens on Russian territory. The new law has caused uncertainty among companies and sparked fears over surveillance and privacy rights, the Financial Times reported.

Following the revelations of former U.S. government contractor Edward Snowden about American spying and data collection, countries including Brazil and Germany have debated having servers on their own territory in order to ensure the privacy of their citizens, Bloomberg reported. The Russian law could impact more than a million companies. While privacy concerns are legitimate, the law comes at a time when the Russian government has been attempting to tighten its control over the Internet. In late August, Russia blacklisted Wikipedia over an article about cannabis before removing the encyclopedia website from its blacklist.

Some experts worry that the new law is an attempt to gain access to personal information for security and monitoring purposes. “The regime is already ramping up censorship and surveillance and using it to target opposition activists, so the requiring of companies to host data on servers in the country makes it easier for the government to access that data,” said Laura Reed, a research analyst from Freedom House, in an interview with Bloomberg. Pope Francis: Priests Can Forgive Abortion If Women Are ‘Contrite’

Posted: 02 Sep 2015 05:25 AM PDT

Pope Francis makes headlines once again, Now according to a new report, He will now allow Roman Catholic priests to absolve women who have had abortions if they seek forgiveness during the upcoming Holy Year of Mercy, the Vatican announced TuesdayThe pontiff said he will allow priests “discretion to absolve of the sin of abortion those who have procured it and who, with contrite heart, seek forgiveness for it” during the special year, beginning December 8. “I am well aware of the pressure that has led [women] to this decision,” he wrote in the announcement. “I know that it is an existential and moral ordeal.”

Abortion is considered a grave sin by the Catholic church, and those who seek it are usually excommunicated. In normal circumstances, forgiveness can only be granted by senior church figures. Deputy Vatican spokesman Father Ciro Benedettini told Reuters that “for now” the change would apply only during the Holy Year. The pope’s letter did not mention people who perform abortions. FULL REPORT

Fortress hedge fund manager David Dredge says markets trouble on the way

Posted: 02 Sep 2015 05:12 AM PDT

Yet another economist has expressed his concern of the current market situation unfolding on Wall Street. According to David Dredge of global hedge fund Fortress, who has built a career studying, predicting and protecting against the world’s major financial crises. The recent convulsions in global sharemarkets are “just the beginning” of a painful adjustment as money drains from the emerging market economies, he says.

“August 2015 will go down in the record books, much like July 2007 or July 1997, as the beginning of the coming contractionary cycle,” says Dredge who is the co-chief investment officer of Fortress Convex Asia Fund. He’s a believer that markets move in long cycles, which “despite all efforts to the contrary, central bankers have not by any means gotten anywhere close to eliminating”. Why America Should Be On High Alert For A Major Earthquake Along The New Madrid Fault

Posted: 02 Sep 2015 05:04 AM PDT

Did you know that a magnitude 3.5 earthquake hit the New Madrid fault about a week ago? According to Fox News, the New Madrid fault line is approximately twenty times larger than the San Andreas fault in California, and it is starting to wake up. Most people don’t realize this, but this fault zone has produced some of the largest earthquakes in U.S. history. In 1811 and 1812, immensely powerful earthquakes along the New Madrid fault rang church bells in Boston and permanently changed the course of the Mississippi River. If we had similar earthquakes today, the devastation would be unimaginable. Unfortunately for us, earthquake activity in the middle part of the country is becoming much more common.

The USGS says that the number of significant earthquakes in the middle part of the country has more than quintupled in recent years, and the USGS has publicly admitted that the New Madrid fault zone has the “potential for larger and more powerful quakes than previously thought“. Very few Americans are talking about this right now, but as you will see below, the threat is very, very real. According to international insurance giant Swiss Re, if the 1811 and 1812 New Madrid earthquakes were to repeat today, the losses would be in the hundreds of billions of dollars…FULL REPORT
