November 30, 2015 US and World Briefing Report

Nov. 30, 2015

President Obama opened his trip to Paris Sunday for international talks on climate change with a late night visit to the memorial site outside a theater where dozens died in the Nov. 13 terrorist attack on the French capital.

Republican presidential candidates were split on Sunday about whether anti-abortion rhetoric had a hand in Friday’s shooting rampage at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado, and whether anything needed to be done to change the tone of political discourse.

Contract signings to purchase previously owned U.S. homes rose 0.2 percent, less than forecast in October after declining in the prior two months, showing residential real estate is cooling heading into the quieter selling season.

Lost in the debate over the U.S. Treasury market’s resilience as the Federal Reserve starts to raise interest rates is one simple fact: supply is falling — and fast. Net issuance of U.S. notes and bonds will tumble 26 percent next year, according to estimates by primary dealers that are obligated to bid at Treasury debt auctions. The $433 billion of new supply would be the least since 2008.

Russia expanded trade restrictions against Turkey and warned that the measures may be only the first stage of its retaliation over the downing of a jet near the border with Syria. Imports of fruit and vegetables from Turkey will be banned, while cargo permits for Turkish trucking companies will be cut from 8,000 to 2,000, with a possible reduction to zero.

For Russia, $30 is the number to watch. Crude prices at that level will push the economy to depths that would threaten the nation’s financial system, according to 63 percent of respondents in a Bloomberg survey.

The U.S. took an unprecedented step toward allowing trading and clearing of the Chinese yuan in America. Finance and industry leaders said Monday they are setting up a group aimed at allowing U.S. institutions to make or receive yuan payments.

Earth’s Magnetic Field is Not About to Flip, Like Previously Thought
Humans have lived through dips in magnetic field intensity before. However, there are debates about whether reversals of the magnetic field in the distant past had any connection to species extinctions. Today, a magnetic field reversal would have a huge impact due to one very important thing: technology. The magnetic field deflects the solar wind and cosmic rays. This means that with a weaker field, more radiation gets through which can disrupt power grids and satellite communications.

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

The “vanishing” of polar ice (and the polar bears) has become a poster-child for warmists. Photo: ALAMY

When future generations look back on the global-warming scare of the past 30 years, nothing will shock them more than the extent to which the official temperature records – on which the entire panic ultimately rested – were systematically “adjusted” to show the Earth as having warmed much more than the actual data justified.

Two weeks ago, under the headline “How we are being tricked by flawed data on global warming”, I wrote about Paul Homewood, who, on his Notalotofpeopleknowthat blog, had checked the published temperature graphs for three weather stations in Paraguay against the temperatures that had originally been recorded. In each instance, the actual trend of 60 years of data had been dramatically reversed, so that a cooling trend was changed to one that showed a marked warming.

The Bizarre Explanation For Why The U.S. Has Avoided Bombing ISIS Oil Wells

What - Public DomainWhy hasn’t the U.S. bombed the oil wells that ISIS controls into oblivion by now?  Would you believe that it is because the Obama administration “didn’t want to do environmental damage”?  Former Deputy Director of the CIA Michael Morell has publicly admitted that we have purposely avoided damaging the main source of income for ISIS, and his explanation for why we were doing this is utterly bizarre.  But at this point what could the Obama administration say that would actually make sense?  Everyone now knows that ISIS has been making hundreds of millions of dollars selling oil in Turkey, and that this has been done with the full knowledge and complicity of the Obama White House.  This is potentially the biggest scandal of the entire Obama presidency, and yet so far the Republicans have not jumped on it. Do You Remember When Black Friday Actually Still Mattered In America?

Bored - Public DomainOnce upon a time, “Black Friday” was a major event in the United States.  Yes, the mainstream media is still endlessly hyping it up, and major retailers are still rolling out their “incredible deals”, but it appears that most Americans are tiring of this particular gimmick.  Or perhaps it is just that U.S. consumers don’t have as much discretionary income as they once did.  As you will see below, retail traffic this Black Friday was “much, much slower” than anticipated.  And expectations were not great anyway – the number of shoppers was down last year, and it was being projected that there would be another decline in 2015.  Yes, there were still a few fights on Black Friday, but mostly the “holiday” was marked by giant piles of unsold merchandise sitting around collecting dust.  The inventory to sales ratio in the U.S. has surged to levels not seen since the last recession, and so the truth is that most retailers were hoping for much more contrived chaos on Black Friday than we actually witnessed. Saudi Arabia Refuses To Take Even A Single Syrian Refugee

Banned - Public DomainIf Saudi Arabia won’t take in Syrian refugees, why should the United States?  In recent weeks, we have heard a whole lot from Barack Obama about our “moral obligation” to take in refugees from Syria.  Well, if there is a “moral obligation” to help these refugees, then why aren’t more wealthy Islamic nations stepping up to the plate?  According to Amnesty International, since the beginning of the Syrian civil war Saudi Arabia has not accepted a single Syrian refugee.  Neither has Kuwait.  Neither has Qatar.  Neither has the United Arab Emirates.  These nations are absolutely swimming in money, and yet they have slammed the door on these desperately needy Islamic refugees.  So what precisely does that tell us? Obama Knows That Turkey Is Buying Oil From ISIS And He Isn’t Doing Anything To Stop It

Obama And Turkey - Public DomainAt this point, is there anyone that still doesn’t know that ISIS is selling hundreds of millions of dollars of stolen oil in Turkey?  As you will see below, this is very much an open secret, but the mainstream media in the United States is being strangely silent about this.  Why?  Well, because if the truth came out Turkey would have to be kicked out of NATO and Barack Obama would probably be facing impeachment proceedings.  He claims to be fighting ISIS, and yet an endless parade of trucks carrying oil that ISIS has stolen goes back and forth over the Turkish border with his full knowledge and approval.  Barack Obama is very much aware that Turkey is buying oil from ISIS and he refuses to do anything about it.  If the Republicans are looking for a scandal which could completely wreck Obama’s presidency and essentially secure the 2016 election for them, this is it. Obama’s Recipe for Disaster

Despite this unbridled growth of the federal behemoth, the one most imperative responsibility of the federal government – that of providing for the common defense – has been abrogated. Obama’s desire to flood our nation with 250,000 Syrian refugees isn’t just a misguided policy – it’s a recipe for a disaster of epic proportions. Obama, along with his fellow travelers on both the left and the right who support open borders/amnesty have already caused this “transformation” to change the very makeup and culture of the United States to the point that – as Breitbart news said in a recent headline, the “Majority of Americans Feel Like ‘Stranger in Own Country'”.

3 Biggest Mistakes America Has Ever Made

Pamela Geller warns that nation ‘may never recover from catastrophe’

Nothing has ever happened to the United States that is worse than the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. A committed Marxist collectivist, he has stood throughout his presidency against that very principle of individual rights that made America great. In abandoning our allies and aligning with the Muslim Brotherhood and other sinister groups, he has aligned with the most evil forces of the 21st century and overturned the order of the world. In abandoning and even actively turning against our allies (most notably Israel), he has made the United States of America, for so long the beacon of freedom in the world, into an untrustworthy ally, a nation that cannot be taken at its word.

MInd Control: 46 Times President Obama Repeated The Phrase ‘That’s Not Who We Are’

President Obama is fond of telling Americans “that’s not who we are” when admonishing them about not agreeing with his liberal principles, a new SuperCut shows.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I am not sure who the “we” is that he constantly refers to. Does he mean the Muslims, the Liberals, the Pro-Abortion crowd, the Climate Change nazis…who? Because as a president who is anti-Israel, anti-America, pro-Muslim and pro-abortion, I am certainly not part of any “we” crowd that includes him.

Not unlike his warning to political opponents that they may be on the “wrong side of history,” the expression is useful in its ability to shut down conversation and seize a moral high ground, however imaginary.

If I say it enough times it will become true:

Adolf Hitler, hypnotizing speech giver and crystal meth addict, knew the power that was in endlessly and passionately repeating the same targeted phrases over and over again. Obama has learned that lesson well, as you will see in the video below:

Obama has deployed the term to convince the country of his rightness on immigration, Obamacare, education, national security and not voting for Mitt Romney, among other important issues to his presidency. source

And speaking of using repetitive phrases as a form of mind control, the White House’s Social and Behavioral Science Team published its first annual report on the effectiveness of behavioral science to achieve policy change. President Obama has been an advocate of using behavioral psychology on citizens for the purposes of policymaking, despite criticisms from notable individuals such as Bill Shughart, professor of public choice at Utah State University, who argue that the behaviorists “are saying that you, consumer, are stupid.” And despite the use of taxpayer dollars to fund this unconstitutional and downright frightening team, the findings were not exactly monumental.

Politico reports that the president officially adopted the notion of using behavioral psychology in policymaking when he launched the White House Social and Behavioral Science Team (SBST) last year. However, his affinity for the use of this science to influence the American people was clear long before that in his selection of Cass Sunstein as his regulatory czar. Sunstein authored a book on the subject, entitled, Nudge — Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness. Sunstein’s book provides a variety of behavioral psychology measures that can be taken to “nudge” Americans toward healthier lifestyles while causing them to think that in fact they are making the decisions themselves.

Yeah, nothing liked being “nudged” right into America being remade as a Marxist nation, with a Muslim president.

KABUL, Afghanistan — U.S. officials warned Americans in Afghanistan on Monday about “credible reports of an imminent attack” on the country’s capital in the next 48 hours. The U.S. Embassy in Kabul urged Americans “to exercise extreme caution if moving around the city … during this period of heightened threat.”

In a statement entitled “Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens,” the embassy said it had “received credible reports of an imminent attack” but added there were “no further details regarding the targets, timing, or method.” However, a security source within the embassy said the attack “may involve multiple assailants and car bombs” and was “classified as credible.” The source added it had “not affected the normal embassy operation.” Sediq Sediqqi, spokesman with the Afghan interior ministry, told NBC News that the report was “nothing new” and that “we do get many of them daily.” He added: “We take these reports very seriously and deal with accordingly.” FULL REPORT

Chinese yuan to become global reserve currency

Posted: 30 Nov 2015 06:27 AM PST

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to give the yuan a vote of confidence on Monday and include the Chinese currency in its Special Drawing Rights (SDR) that unites the US dollar, euro, British pound and the Japanese yen.
Adding the yuan as a reserve currency will allow central banks to buy more of the Chinese currency, and boost investment in the Chinese stock market.

According to Standard Chartered bank, within five years market players will invest at least $1 trillion in Chinese assets. The historic decision will come after years of negotiations between Beijing and the IMF. The main obstacle was China’s monetary policy of keeping the yuan artificially low to boost domestic exports. The list of currencies in the basket hasn’t been updated by the IMF since 2000, when the euro superseded the franc and deutschmark. FDA approves controversial drug to beef up farm animals despite being reported as the most dangerous livestock drug on market and being banned in 150 countries

Posted: 30 Nov 2015 06:22 AM PST

If it’s been deemed bad in other countries, that’s often when the United States comes in and welcomes it with open arms. In this case, we’re talking about the fact that a California judge recently dismissed two lawsuits that claimed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) illegally approved a harmful drug additive – ractopamine hydrochloride – used in animal feed. Indeed, despite having information about the weight gain inducing drug’s detrimental effects on animals, and that the active ingredient, found in the brand Paylean, is banned in 150 countries, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers turned a blind eye.

FDA records revealed that pigs in particular have suffered horrific consequences from being given the drug, which is designed to make them gain weight without having to consume a great deal of feed. While cost effective for the farming industry, it’s been found to have rendered 160,000 pigs unable to walk, to experience hyperactivity and broken limbs, and even to die. In fact, a Food and Environment Reporting Network (FERN) investigation determined that ractopamine is fed to “an estimated 60 to 80 percent of pigs in the United States” and has “resulted in more reports of sickened or dead pigs than any other livestock drug on the market.” Over the years, farmers and veterinarians have repeatedly expressed concern over ailing pigs. Superbugs Could Devastate Humanity as Last Antibiotic Chemicals Prove Useless

Posted: 30 Nov 2015 05:56 AM PST

As drug-resistant infections become more prevalent, more and more people are now being treated with “last-resort” antibiotics, warns a new report by Public Health England, an agency within the British Department of Health. The report also showed an increase in the number of people suffering a “significant antibiotic-resistant infection” between 2010 and 2014. Antibiotic resistance develops as a natural consequence of antibiotic use. Because viruses are a diverse and ancient group of organisms, many of them have some degree of resistance to the chemicals used to kill them. When antibiotics are used, these naturally resistant organisms survive, while the vulnerable ones are killed. The surviving bacteria then reproduce, passing on their resistance to the next generation.

The more widely antibiotics are used, the more rapidly resistance genes spread through bacterial populations. The problem is made even worse by the bacterial ability to swap genes with each other, even between species. The British report found an increase not just in general antibiotic resistant infections between 2010 and 2014, but in two varieties in particular: E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Infectious forms of E. coli can cause vomiting, stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), and even kidney failure and death. K. pneumoniae causes both pneumonia and urinary tract infections, and can also cause blood poisoning. FULL REPORT

1,200 Square miles of California is sinking 2 inches a month

Posted: 30 Nov 2015 05:51 AM PST

On a day when the skies were ashen from the smoke of distant wildfires, Chase Hurley kept his eyes trained on the slower-moving disaster at ground level: collapsing levees, buckling irrigation canals, water rising up over bridges and sloshing over roads. This is the hidden disaster of California’s drought. So much water has been pumped out of the ground that vast areas of the Central Valley are sinking, destroying millions of dollars in infrastructure in the gradual collapse.

Four years of drought – and the last two years of record-smashing heat – have put water in extremely short supply. Such climate-charged scenarios form the backdrop to the United Nations negotiations starting in Paris on 30 November, which are seeking to agree on collective action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But the real-time evidence of climate change and the other effects of human interference in natural systems are already changing the contours of California’s landscape. The strongest El Niño in 18 years is expected to bring some drought improvement to the Central Valley this winter, but the weather system won’t end it, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Strong 5.9 Earthquake Strikes Argentina

Posted: 30 Nov 2015 05:47 AM PST

A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 has struck the provinces of Jujuy and Salta in northwest Argentina, near the city of San Salvador de Jujuy, seismologists say. The earthquake struck at 3:52 p.m. local time and was centered about 9 kilometers west of Yuto, or 91 kilometers northeast of San Salvador de Jujuy. It struck about 10 kilometers deep, making it a shallow earthquake, according to seismologists.

Residents in the region reported feeling the earthquake, but there was no immediate word on damage or casualties. Computer models from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) estimated that as many as 2.1 million people may have felt the earthquake, including some 29,000 people who may have perceived strong shaking. Those in Yuto and Caimancito are likely to have felt the worst shaking. MORE

Britain Battered with 70mph gales and Giant waves lash coastline

Posted: 30 Nov 2015 05:41 AM PST

Britons are braced for more lashing rain as flood warnings were issued for parts of the country as Storm Clodagh wreaked havoc. Flights were diverted, trains delayed and traffic held up on motorways at the weeknd as heavy rain and strong winds hit Scotland and the north west of England. There is little sign of respite with the Environment Agency issuing yellow flood warnings for Wales and the north of England for Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday, two days of rain could leave parts of north Wales under 60mm of precipitation.

The north of England could see 30-40mm of rain during the same period, say the Met Office. A spokeswoman also warned that parts of Scotland, which is on a yellow snow warning, could have 2.5cm of snow on Monday. On Sunday in Ireland, thousands of properties were left without electricity after Storm Clodagh battered the republic. Meanwhile, coastguards had to pull a windsurfer out of the water at Seaburn Beach, Sunderland, after he was separated from his board in 60 mph winds. Two people were rescued from the Tyne by the RNLI after their boat was capsized by the wind. FULL REPORT

Our Time is Short

Read: Recommitting Your Life To God and Jesus Christ – Restoration and Forgiveness With God and Jesus Christ (Updated Version)

What is The Gospel?

God made everything out of nothing, including you and me. His main purpose in creation was to bring him pleasure.

The chief way in which we as humanity do this is through loving, obeying, and enjoying him perfectly.

Instead of this, we have sinned against our loving Creator and acted in high-handed rebellion.

God has vowed that he will righteously and lovingly judge sinners with eternal death.

But God, being merciful, loving, gracious, and just, sent his own son, Jesus Christ, in the likeness of man to live as a man; fulfilling his perfect requirements in the place of sinners; loving, obeying, and enjoying him perfectly.

And further, his son bore the eternal judgment of God upon the cross of Calvary, as he satisfied the eternal anger of God, standing in the place of sinners. God treated Jesus as a sinner, though he was perfectly sinless, that he might declare sinners as perfect.

This glorious transaction occurs as the sinner puts their faith (dependence, trust) in the Lord Jesus Christ as their substitute. God then charges Christ’s perfection to the sinner, and no longer views him as an enemy but instead an adopted son covered in the perfect righteousness of his son.

God furnished proof that this sacrifice was accepted by raising Jesus from the dead.

God will judge the world in righteousness and all of those who are not covered in the righteousness of Christ, depending on him for forgiveness, will be forced to stand on their own to bear the eternal anger of God.

Therefore, all must turn from sin and receive Christ Jesus as Lord.

What Is the Gospel?

There is no greater message to be heard than that which we call the gospel. But as important as that is, it is often given to massive distortions or over simplifications. People think they’re preaching the gospel to you when they tell you, ‘you can have a purpose to your life’, or that ‘you can have meaning to your life’, or that ‘you can have a personal relationship with Jesus.’ All of those things are true, and they’re all important, but they don’t get to the heart of the gospel.

The gospel is called the ‘good news’ because it addresses the most serious problem that you and I have as human beings, and that problem is simply this: God is holy and He is just, and I’m not. And at the end of my life, I’m going to stand before a just and holy God, and I’ll be judged. And I’ll be judged either on the basis of my own righteousness–or lack of it –or the righteousness of another. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus lived a life of perfect righteousness, of perfect obedience to God, not for His own well being but for His people. He has done for me what I couldn’t possibly do for myself. But not only has He lived that life of perfect obedience, He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice to satisfy the justice and the righteousness of God.

The great misconception in our day is this: that God isn’t concerned to protect His own integrity. He’s a kind of wishy-washy deity, who just waves a wand of forgiveness over everybody. No. For God to forgive you is a very costly matter. It cost the sacrifice of His own Son. So valuable was that sacrifice that God pronounced it valuable by raising Him from the dead – so that Christ died for us, He was raised for our justification. So the gospel is something objective. It is the message of who Jesus is and what He did. And it also has a subjective dimension. How are the benefits of Jesus subjectively appropriated to us? How do I get it? The Bible makes it clear that we are justified not by our works, not by our efforts, not by our deeds, but by faith–and by faith alone. The only way you can receive the benefit of Christ’s life and death is by putting your trust in Him–and in Him alone. You do that, you’re declared just by God, you’re adopted into His family, you’re forgiven of all of your sins, and you have begun your pilgrimage for eternity.

The Gospel on 5 Fingers

If you picked up a hitchhiker (not that I recommend doing that) and he saw a Bible on your car seat and said, “I’ve heard about this thing called the Gospel – can you explain it to me before you drop me off in one minute up the street?” What would you say?

Can you explain the gospel in 30 seconds? In one minute? In five minutes?

Here’s one way I have found helpful. The five main components of the gospel can be remembered on 5 fingers of one hand. Here they are:

1) Jesus’ birth
2) Jesus’ life
3) Jesus’ death
4) Jesus’ resurrection
5) Jesus’ ascension

Obviously each point can be elaborated on depending on how much time you have. Here’s the short version:

1) Jesus’ birth – Jesus, God himself, the creator of the universe, the Messiah, became a human being – took on flesh, and was born of a virgin.

2) Jesus’ life – Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience to his Father. Though he was tempted in every way as we are, he never once sinned.

3) Jesus’ death – on the cross, Jesus himself took all our sins and paid for them. God the father counted all our sins to Jesus as if he himself had personally committed them. Then Jesus bore God’s wrath towards sin – the punishment we deserved – as a substitute for us.

4) Jesus’ resurrection – within 3 days, Jesus rose physically from the dead, proving that his sacrifice for sins have been accepted by God, since the punishment for sin was death. Jesus was seen by numerous people after he rose including 500 at one time (1 Corinthians 15).

5) Jesus’ ascension – Jesus ascended physically into heaven where he reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords. And someday he will return to the earth.

That’s the gospel, the good news, and if we believe in Jesus Christ and this good news and call upon him he will save us from our sins and give us eternal life.

That’s a simple way to remember the gospel – five fingers. Even a child can do it. So ask God to give you opportunities to share his good news today.

Ready to start your new life with God?

Who do you think that I am?

With that brief question Jesus Christ confronted His followers with the most important issue they would ever face. He had spent much time with them and made some bold claims about His identity and authority. Now the time had come for them either to believe or deny His teachings.

Who do you say Jesus is? Your response to Him will determine not only your values and lifestyle, but your eternal destiny as well.

“The Patriot Post ( )”

In looking for the next President, Evangelicals should look for a Josiah. (Why an ancient Jewish king provides a powerful model for the next American President.)

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

Josiah(Washington, D.C.) — I first posted this column on August 18th.

Today, I’m re-posting it in light of my column last week suggesting the search for a “Josiah” among Evangelical Christians has come down to a Final Four (which I believe are, in alphabetical order, Cruz, Huckabee, Rubio and Santorum). Hope you find it helpful.

As the presidential campaign season heats up, Americans are trying to get to know the many candidates in both parties and determine who would be best to lead America in 2017 and beyond. Who has the right character, vision, and detailed, substantive, serious plans for reform? Who has the wisdom, experience and sound judgment? Who is ready for the enormous and complicated challenges facing this great country?

Choosing the right leader is not an easy process, but it is vitally important. America is on the wrong track,  going in the wrong direction. We are in heading steadily — perhaps rapidly — towards implosion

Chris Rosebrough reviews Mike Bickle’s sermon,”Blow the Trumpet in Zion”

ChurchWatch Central

Between 1983 to 1984, Mike Bickle was formulating the controversial ‘Blueprint prophecy’ with the convicted Bob Jones and false prophet Augustine Alcala. Chris Rosebrough from “Fighting for the Faith” recently covered an older sermon of Mike Bickle in 1983 called “Blow the Trumpet in Zion.”

Chris Rosebrough From

Bickle’s theology is saturated with the New Apostolic Reformation heresy (Aka: NAR). It’s a fascinating sermon that exposes the “New Apostolic Reformation,” the “prophetic” background of Mike Bickle and the birthing of the NAR Kansas City Prophets (KCP). This false prophetic movement within the NAR has released utter chaos, confusion, destruction and division in the church to this day. In this sermon review, Rosebrough helps people understand the NAR philosophies, ideas, methodologies and language.

Tim Tebow chose his girlfriend for looks not character

The glasses don't make you any smarter, Tim Te-fool The glasses don’t make you any smarter, Tim T-Bonehead

Everyone likes to pick on me because they say that I always blame women for their poor choices, when everything is really the fault of men. Well, that’s not true. I love to blame men when it really is the man’s fault. And we have a case now where it really IS the man’s fault, and you’ll never guess how all the Christian feminists are responding to me blaming the man.

Let’s see the story, first, which is very important. It’s from the UK Daily Mail.

It says:

Tim Tebow has made a vow to stay chaste until marriage.

But it seems as if Olivia Culpo just couldn’t wait.

The 23-year-old former Miss Universe has broken up with the hunky 28-year-old former professional American footballer due to his choice to stay abstinent according to a recent report.

Two points about this.

Tim Tebow and His Ex-Girl Friend

tebowSo I saw on Facebook’s news feed that Tim Tebow’s girlfriend, a former Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, broke up with him because he refuses to have sex with her.

My immediate reaction was, “good for him! Way to stand up against temptation and sin.”

Speaking as a red-blooded male here, given that she is, in the currently popular Red State evangelical vernacular, “smokin’ hot,” maintaining his integrity and staying true to his commitment to save sex for marriage was probably a difficult achievement, especially if Ms. Culpo willingly and readily made herself available.

However, as I reflected upon the various media articles linked in my FB feed, I began to wonder why Tim Tebow, a professed Christian who has shown the public, at least in my opinion, that he is semi-serious about his faith, would be pursuing a woman who is the moral equivalent of a diamond encrusted sow ear.

Pro-life group targets Planned Parenthood’s corporate donors

I'm Scheming Unborn Baby, and I approve this study I’m Scheming Unborn Baby, and I approve this message

This is an article from the Daily Signal, and it shows the kinds of devious, mean tactics that those awful pro-lifers will stoop to, in order to stop the intentional killing of unborn children.

Look how awful:

A pro-life group say it has convinced more than 300 companies to stop donating to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

The organization, Life Decisions International, tracks corporate sponsors of Planned Parenthood in an effort to encourage them to stop donating.

In an interview with The Daily Signal, Doug Scott, president of Life Decisions International, said his group is “primarily an educational organization.”

Its aim, Scott said, is to educate companies and CEOs about Planned Parenthood’s “real agenda.”

Using Planned Parenthood’s own annual reports, newsletters and IRS documents, Life Decisions International determines which companies contribute funds. It adds the findings to a list of such donors, and encourages…

Carl Trueman on John Owen

Scripture Thoughts

Following the topic of church history and the Puritans, and having enjoyed Carl Trueman’s Reformation History lectures, I have now listened (available on sermon audio here to a 5-part series (with two additional messages after these five) from Trueman, on John Owen.

Much of the content is actually about the Puritans generally, with some overlap of the Reformation series as to the overall historical setting, along with descriptions of Owen’s theology in particular. Of note, Reformed theology in Owen’s day was more complex, more developed than in the 16th century, in part due to the heresy confronted in the 17th century: Socinianism. Owen’s view of the atonement comes out in a more detailed response to Socinianism. While John Calvin, Samuel Rutherford and Twisse (the chairman of the Westminster Assembly) saw the atonement as not necessary–God COULD have provided redemption in another way, but He chose to do it that…

“21 Misunderstandings of Calvinism”: The Fifth and Sixth Misunderstandings

Reformedontheweb's Blog

By Sam Waldron

I’ve dealt with four misunderstandings of Calvinism related to the doctrine of total depravity. In this blog I begin to deal with a number related to the doctrine of unconditional election. Here are the first two:

1.Misunderstandings related to Unconditional Election

(1) Calvinists are fatalists!

I looked up the dictionary definition of fatalism, but I think it has little to do with what the people who make this charge actually mean. Let me tell you what I think they mean. I think they mean to say that Calvinists think that nothing we do changes our final destiny. I think they mean that there is no relationship between how a person acts and where he will spend eternity. I think they mean that somehow a person’s destiny in eternity is fixed regardless of how he responds to the gospel here in this life. If that is what they…

Two peer-reviewed studies shed light on news media bias

Here's the left-wing media Here’s the left-wing media

Let’s learn about media bias using these peer-reviewed studies.

Here’s a UCLA study on media bias.

Of the 20 major media outlets studied, 18 scored left of center, with CBS’ “Evening News,” The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times ranking second, third and fourth most liberal behind the news pages of The Wall Street Journal.

Only Fox News’ “Special Report With Brit Hume” and The Washington Times scored right of the average U.S. voter.

The most centrist outlet proved to be the “NewsHour With Jim Lehrer.” CNN’s “NewsNight With Aaron Brown” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” were a close second and third.

“Our estimates for these outlets, we feel, give particular credibility to our efforts, as three of the four moderators for the 2004 presidential and vice-presidential debates came from these three news outlets — Jim Lehrer, Charlie Gibson and Gwen Ifill,”…

Obediently standing firm while holding fast to the word of life

Possessing the Treasure

19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the gates of the prison, and taking them out he said, 20 “Go, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life.” (Acts 5:19-20 NASB)

It seems that Christian suffering is a very big topic right now. In some cases “teachers” will use Job Chapters 1 &2 in an attempt to make their points. However, the more I listen to men teach on the topic of “Christian suffering” the more I have become convinced that the majority of the teachings on this are actually attempts to manipulate people in one form or another using fear or guilt strategies to try to get people to part with either their service or money or both. If one studies these teachings from a Biblical perspective things get confusing. Why? Not everyone can teach from…

We will recognize them by their fruits

Those with any discernment are aware of the rising escalation of growing apostasy all around us. Some of you have lamented that it seems that there is no one who can be trusted anymore. I hear you! It has become apparent that it is becoming increasingly more difficult to trust the fruit of those who minister for money or whose livelihood depended upon popularity. This is really nothing new. Professor explains how his study of the historical Jesus made him leave atheism

Sherlock Holmes and John Watson Sherlock Holmes and John Watson: let’s investigate Jesus!

Dr. Michael F. Bird has a great article in Christianity Today. I’ve featured his debates with atheist historican James Crossley on this blog before, and I have the book they co-wrote.

In the article, Dr. Bird writes:

I grew up in a secular home in suburban Australia, where religion was categorically rejected—it was seen as a crutch, and people of faith were derided as morally deviant hypocrites. Rates for church attendance in Australia are some of the lowest in the Western world, and the country’s political leaders feel no need to feign religious devotion. In fact, they think it’s better to avoid religion altogether.

As a teenager, I wrote poetry mocking belief in God. My mother threw enough profanity at religious door knockers to make even a sailor blush.

Why Liberal Atheists Defend Islam

And obviously, their tiresome mantra “Separation of Church and State” doesn’t apply to Islam.

In my articles about Islam, I have said that I believe that Allah is Satan. I also believe that the Islamic jihadists are demon possessed. There are approximately 1.6 billion Muslims on our planet. A little over 300 million of them are jihadists and want us dead.

Is it Okay to Murder Safely?

The Domain for Truth

This is an example (Focus on the Family) of the horrendous errors concerning some in the pro-life movement. There is no solemn statement concerning the killing or the sin of abortion as being murder. Where is the message of repentence, true faith, sexual immorality, and the clear and uncompromising Gospel message? Where is the heightened sensitivity of the baby who is the victim due to their parents’ destructive and immoral choice? I encourage Christians to also research the different pregnancy crisis centers in their communities before fully supporting and financially backing them. Inquire to see if they also do biblical counseling.

Focus on the Family is basically telling people how to safely murder someone in the womb. Parents are not terminating a pregnancy, they are terminating a precious life, made in God’s image.

Have they forgotten Exodus 20:13? Why would you give one an option to kill innocent life, when…
