Arguably one of the most spiritually dangerous cults in the world today, IHOP (International House of Prayer), headed by the New Apostolic Reformation’s false prophet, Mike Bickle, is hosting its annual Onething Conference December 28-31.

IHOP, known for it’s youth-targeted, stage-managed productions of audio-visual, hyper-sensual emotional stimuli that simulates a spiritual revival, will be hosting a series of questionable speakers and worship leaders, at best, as well as outright false teachers. Among these speakers are Mike Bickle himself, Francis Chan (again), and Daniel Kolenda, who apparently, get this, raises people from the dead. According to the event’s website, Kolenda is

a modern missionary evangelist who has led more than 10 million people to Christ… He is a gifted preacher whose ministry is marked by incredible miracles—healing the blind, the lame, the deaf, the leper, and even raising the dead—and powerful evangelism, but most importantly, a passion to see the gospel preached to the poor

Now we all know Francis Chan fell off the wagon years ago and has been endorsing Mick Bickle’s garbage for quite some time. But there’s one speaker at this year’s event that might surprise you–Southern Baptist President, Ronnie Floyd.

But really, this should come as no surprise. Being that the theme of this year’s Onething event is “Until the Fame of Jesus Fills the Earth,” (whatever that means) they seem to have the same goal in mind as Ronnie Floyd. Onething’s website presents their mission as,

We invite you to join 20,000 young adults in Kansas City this December to encounter Jesus through extended times of worship, teaching of the Word, and ministry in the power of the Spirit. Our primary aim is to encounter Jesus, so that we might go forth to do His works and change the world, until the fame of Jesus fills the earth.

Ronnie Floyd’s theme for the Southern Baptist Convention, titled The Great Awakening, carried the call to “prayer, fasting, revival, spiritual awakening, evangelism, church planting, and the call to complete the Great Commission.” So, while the wording may be slightly different, the basic idea is the same. Their goal is to push an experiential form of evangelism through a charismatic production of pseudo-gospel and spiritual manifestations that are centered around their own hopes and purpose of revival, rather than an obedience to the Word of God.

And Floyd is willing to partner with this dangerous cult to make it happen.

To top it off, the worship music at the event will be led by Roman Catholic, Matt Maher, who recently played on stage with Pope Francis at the Catholic World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. Does Ronnie Floyd not know who these people are? Does he not know that fellowship with darkness is forbidden in Scripture?

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? – 2 Corinthians 6:14

Does it make sense that the president of the Southern Baptist Convention, instead of exposing this cult for what it is (Ephesians 5:11) he’s taking part in it?

Is it Ronnie Floyd’s sound theology, biblical preaching and uncompromising stand for truth that the NAR and IHOP are seeking from Floyd at this event? Doubtful. More likely it’s his notoriety, fortune, and charisma, and his ability to draw a crowd and please the world that makes him so attractive.

I really can’t say that much of anything surprises me in the Southern Baptist Convention anymore. On the one hand, we have many theologically conservative pastors who preach the Word of God with conviction regularly. But within the leadership of the SBC, all discernment has been lost. We have seminary leaders promoting atheist groups, Russell Moore at the ERLC regularly partnering with Roman Catholics, and Lifeway peddling all sorts of heresy for cash. The convention has lost its convictions and is no longer rooted in sound doctrine. It’s merely a money making machine for its leadership, a pyramid scheme if you will, that once you’ve made it to the top, you’re in.

When are Southern Baptists going to wake up and take out the trash?

Ed Stetzer Wants Partnership with Muslim Leaders

JD Hall

Last month, Ed Stetzer spoke at an interfaith gathering with Islamic extremists, including known aiders and abetters of international terrorism. Stetzer provided Southern Baptist-owned Lifeway data to assist the Muslims in “learning how to relate” to evangelicals and how to “build bridges” with other faiths. Speaking with Stetzer at the ironically-themed “Spreading Peace Convocation” was Obama’s spiritual advisor, Joel Hunter, radical sheik Hamsa Yusef, cop-killer supporting Muslim and friend of Anwar Awlaki, Suhaib Webb. Stetzer was paid to hand over the Southern Baptist intellectual property to the Islamic extremists by Islamic globalist organization funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the International Interfaith Peace Corps and the syncretistic Chrislam organization, Glocal.

If you’re still busy picking your jaw up off the floor, being apprised of a Southern Baptist employee and prominent evangelical handing over the goods to assist radical Islamic extremists and at least one known associate of dangerous terrorists, you can click here to read all the information yourself.

Fast-forward to November 13.

Islamic extremists, some with automatic rifles and some with other improvised devices attacked sites throughout Paris. The world is outraged and mourning. The French president, Francois Hollande, called the attacks an “act of war” and promised no pity to the perpetrators. Then, the French government responded in a way uncharacteristic of the French stereotype all-too-common in many minds – they bombed the living daylights out of ISIS targets. In airstrikes billed as “massive,” France bombed the Islamic State’s capitol, a jihadi training camp and munitions dumps. Montjoie Saint Denis!, as they say. And good for them.

A few lessons ought to be learned, including that maybe we (that is, the free world) should be bombing Islamic militants before they strike. And, there’s probably something to say about immigration policy, which surely would upset pro-open borders and unlimited immigration, Russell Moore. But how did Ed Stetzer respond?

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 11.13.05 AM

One wonders exactly what kind of “partnership” Stetzer wants with Muslim leaders. Will it be with those like Suhaib Webb, with whom he partnered last month at the Spreading Peace Convocation, who raised funds for cop-killer, Jamil Al Amin, along with terrorist, Anwar Awlaki?

Nevermind the fact that calling this a “decade’s long struggle with radical Islamists” is off by centuries, this demonstrates an incredible naivety on the part of Stetzer and the evangelical intelligentsia, and also displays Stetzer’s trajectory toward syncretistic interfaith partnership.

Can you trust that Stetzer won’t take Lifeway and whatever portion of evangelicalism he represents into Chrislam? You may laugh at the notion, but I’ll remind you, he’s already been paid by them. He has already been on their payroll…literally.

Be on guard. There’s more than just his awkward chin hair to make one think he’s going full Islam.

Bruce-Caitlyn Jenner James Smith, widower of Moira Smith, a police officer who died rescuing others from the south tower during the 2001 attacks on the New York World Trade Centers, FedExed his wife’s Woman of the Year award back to Glamour magazine.

He was outraged the award this year was given to Bruce Jenner, who changed his name to Caitlyn after having sex-change operations earlier this year.

Smith said giving the award to Jenner insulted his wife’s memory.

Getting the Gospel Right – “The gospel of Jesus Christ is a sacred message. It is God’s chosen means for reaching all who would come to saving faith (1 Corinthians 1:21). Whether you preach to a congregation or witness to your neighbor, eternal destinies hinge on the proclamation of Christ crucified. It’s why the apostle Paul asks the rhetorical questions…”

Gone Fishin’ – A Forgotten Model of Pastoral Ministry – “What is a minister of the Gospel like? The most common answers include models like Shepherd, Servant, Preacher, Theologian, Teacher, Counselor, Leader, and so on. But one model that’s rarely thought about or spoken about today is the first model that Jesus used – Fisherman (Matt. 4:19).”

Satan’s Great Trick – “One of Satan’s greatest tricks is to convince you that the sin you are being tempted with is a very small sin. ‘This is just a little one. It’s not like you’re going to kill anyone. It’s not like you’re committing adultery. You’ve done it before and God didn’t strike you down. The joy will by far outweigh the risk. We will keep this one between just you and me.’ And too often you believe his lie. You indulge in what seems like just a little sin, a harmless peccadillo.”

Will Christ be enough if your dreams don’t come true? – “I’m nearly done reading Jared Wilson’s latest, The Story of Everything, which as was entirely expected, has been rocking my socks. One of the particularly provocative points made in the book (at least so far) is his calling out of the “chase your dreams” style of encouragement among Christian leaders—particularly to those inclined toward the arts.”

What is The Gospel?

God made everything out of nothing, including you and me. His main purpose in creation was to bring him pleasure.

The chief way in which we as humanity do this is through loving, obeying, and enjoying him perfectly.

Instead of this, we have sinned against our loving Creator and acted in high-handed rebellion.

God has vowed that he will righteously and lovingly judge sinners with eternal death.

But God, being merciful, loving, gracious, and just, sent his own son, Jesus Christ, in the likeness of man to live as a man; fulfilling his perfect requirements in the place of sinners; loving, obeying, and enjoying him perfectly.

And further, his son bore the eternal judgment of God upon the cross of Calvary, as he satisfied the eternal anger of God, standing in the place of sinners. God treated Jesus as a sinner, though he was perfectly sinless, that he might declare sinners as perfect.

This glorious transaction occurs as the sinner puts their faith (dependence, trust) in the Lord Jesus Christ as their substitute. God then charges Christ’s perfection to the sinner, and no longer views him as an enemy but instead an adopted son covered in the perfect righteousness of his son.

God furnished proof that this sacrifice was accepted by raising Jesus from the dead.

God will judge the world in righteousness and all of those who are not covered in the righteousness of Christ, depending on him for forgiveness, will be forced to stand on their own to bear the eternal anger of God.

Therefore, all must turn from sin and receive Christ Jesus as Lord.

What Is the Gospel?

There is no greater message to be heard than that which we call the gospel. But as important as that is, it is often given to massive distortions or over simplifications. People think they’re preaching the gospel to you when they tell you, ‘you can have a purpose to your life’, or that ‘you can have meaning to your life’, or that ‘you can have a personal relationship with Jesus.’ All of those things are true, and they’re all important, but they don’t get to the heart of the gospel.

The gospel is called the ‘good news’ because it addresses the most serious problem that you and I have as human beings, and that problem is simply this: God is holy and He is just, and I’m not. And at the end of my life, I’m going to stand before a just and holy God, and I’ll be judged. And I’ll be judged either on the basis of my own righteousness–or lack of it –or the righteousness of another. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus lived a life of perfect righteousness, of perfect obedience to God, not for His own well being but for His people. He has done for me what I couldn’t possibly do for myself. But not only has He lived that life of perfect obedience, He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice to satisfy the justice and the righteousness of God.

The great misconception in our day is this: that God isn’t concerned to protect His own integrity. He’s a kind of wishy-washy deity, who just waves a wand of forgiveness over everybody. No. For God to forgive you is a very costly matter. It cost the sacrifice of His own Son. So valuable was that sacrifice that God pronounced it valuable by raising Him from the dead – so that Christ died for us, He was raised for our justification. So the gospel is something objective. It is the message of who Jesus is and what He did. And it also has a subjective dimension. How are the benefits of Jesus subjectively appropriated to us? How do I get it? The Bible makes it clear that we are justified not by our works, not by our efforts, not by our deeds, but by faith–and by faith alone. The only way you can receive the benefit of Christ’s life and death is by putting your trust in Him–and in Him alone. You do that, you’re declared just by God, you’re adopted into His family, you’re forgiven of all of your sins, and you have begun your pilgrimage for eternity.

The Gospel on 5 Fingers

If you picked up a hitchhiker (not that I recommend doing that) and he saw a Bible on your car seat and said, “I’ve heard about this thing called the Gospel – can you explain it to me before you drop me off in one minute up the street?” What would you say?

Can you explain the gospel in 30 seconds? In one minute? In five minutes?

Here’s one way I have found helpful. The five main components of the gospel can be remembered on 5 fingers of one hand. Here they are:

1) Jesus’ birth
2) Jesus’ life
3) Jesus’ death
4) Jesus’ resurrection
5) Jesus’ ascension

Obviously each point can be elaborated on depending on how much time you have. Here’s the short version:

1) Jesus’ birth – Jesus, God himself, the creator of the universe, the Messiah, became a human being – took on flesh, and was born of a virgin.

2) Jesus’ life – Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience to his Father. Though he was tempted in every way as we are, he never once sinned.

3) Jesus’ death – on the cross, Jesus himself took all our sins and paid for them. God the father counted all our sins to Jesus as if he himself had personally committed them. Then Jesus bore God’s wrath towards sin – the punishment we deserved – as a substitute for us.

4) Jesus’ resurrection – within 3 days, Jesus rose physically from the dead, proving that his sacrifice for sins have been accepted by God, since the punishment for sin was death. Jesus was seen by numerous people after he rose including 500 at one time (1 Corinthians 15).

5) Jesus’ ascension – Jesus ascended physically into heaven where he reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords. And someday he will return to the earth.

That’s the gospel, the good news, and if we believe in Jesus Christ and this good news and call upon him he will save us from our sins and give us eternal life.

That’s a simple way to remember the gospel – five fingers. Even a child can do it. So ask God to give you opportunities to share his good news today.

Ready to start your new life with God?

Who do you think that I am?

With that brief question Jesus Christ confronted His followers with the most important issue they would ever face. He had spent much time with them and made some bold claims about His identity and authority. Now the time had come for them either to believe or deny His teachings.

Who do you say Jesus is? Your response to Him will determine not only your values and lifestyle, but your eternal destiny as well.
