The Paris attacks targeted every-day people having fun – at restaurants, pubs, a soccer stadium and a concert hall.

Catholic Church Facilitates Foreign Invasion

Most Americans are unaware that the RCC receives millions of taxpayer dollars to settle refugees in the U.S. Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy In Media has the story:

In the face of President Obama’s veto threat, members of Congress may not be able to pass legislation suspending or upgrading the program permitting refugees from Syria, the Middle East and North Africa to settle in the U.S. But the Republican Congress certainly has the power to hold hearings into the millions of taxpayer dollars being funneled through Catholic and other church groups to bring them here. Many Catholics and non-Catholics alike would like to know how “religious compassion,” using federal money, is increasing the potential terrorist threat to America.

You may recall that Pope Francis promoted the Obama administration’s pro-immigration policies during his visit to the U.S. Left unsaid was the fact that the American branch of the Roman Catholic Church is getting millions of taxpayer dollars to settle refugees. According to their financial statement for 2014, the latest year for which figures are available, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops received over $79 million in government grants to provide benefits to refugees.

Simply stated, Congress can expose how the money is being spent and cut it off.

You’re Right UK, The Lord’s Prayer Is Offensive

People in the UK were not happy about a cinema advert with The Lord’s Prayer prayed by different people across the city. There’s been so much commotion over it, it’s been banned from theaters. There is concern it is offensive to people of other beliefs:

As you would expect, Christians love the advert, while many secularists hate it. But the secularists have one thing right – The Lord’s Prayer is in fact offensive.

I love what Andrew Wilson writes in Think Theology:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Not Allah’s, or anyone else’s: yours. There is only one who is holy, and he is our heavenly Father. May your name be recognised as great by all the nations, including those (like ours) who dismiss, blaspheme, patronise or ignore it.

May your kingdom come. One day, all the kingdoms of the earth will become the kingdom of God and his Messiah. In the meantime, as we wait for you to gather up all your enemies and turn them into your footstool, we cry to you: let your reign be shown here as well. Dethrone the powers. Overturn empires. Destroy everything that opposes you. Rule everywhere.

Let your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. May the very content shown on this cinema screen, and the civilisation it represents, be subjected to your will, so that only things which honour you are done. Just like currently happens in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread. We are dependent on you – not the markets, the government, our security services or our own ingenuity and talent – for every good gift. Please keep providing them all, because if you don’t, we’re in big trouble.

And forgive us our sins. We have all sinned against you, offended you, transgressed your law and trespassed against our fellow humans, and we are in desperate need of forgiveness. None of us are righteous. Please, in your mercy, wipe out our sins.

As we forgive those who sin against us. Including abusers, manipulators, jihadists, and the rest, since we deserve judgment just as they do.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. There is evil in the world, and it’s both out there (deliver us from evil) and in here (lead us not into temptation). Save us, O Lord! We can’t do it without you. Rescue us from everything which opposes you, and help us not to contribute to the problem in our own twisted fallenness.

For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory. Nobody else’s. No other God but you. No king but God. No Lord except Christ. Your glory shall not belong to another. Amen.

Anyone who thinks that isn’t offensive simply hasn’t been paying attention.”

The Daily Discovery (November 24, 2015)

ARTICLES I LIKE FROM AROUND THE WEB:
(Click title to go to full article)

Doctrine Matters: Eternal Life Depends Upon It – “Christianity is much more than getting your doctrine right. But it is not less. You can have right doctrine and not be a Christian. You can know all sorts of true things about Jesus and not be saved. The Devil is not unaware of who Jesus really is. The first beings in the Gospels to recognize the true identify of Christ are the demons. You can know true things and not be a Christian. But you cannot be a Christian without knowing true things.”

Why We Need to Know Facts About the Bible – “Our view of Scripture—particularly how we view the Bible’s truthfulness and authority over our lives—profoundly affects our spiritual formation. For this reason, the primary thing we should know about the Bible is that, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17).”

They Did Not Honor Him or Give Thanks — Why Thanksgiving is Inescapably Theological – “Thanksgiving is a deeply theological act, rightly understood. As a matter of fact, thankfulness is a theology in microcosm— a key to understanding what we really believe about God, ourselves, and the world we experience. A haunting question is this:  How do atheists observe Thanksgiving? I can easily understand what an atheist or agnostic would think of fellow human beings and feel led to express thankfulness and gratitude to all those who, both directly and indirectly, have contributed to their lives. But what about the blessings that cannot be ascribed to human agency? Those are both more numerous and more significant, ranging from the universe we experience to the gift of life itself.”

Stop Acting Like You Have the Refugee Crisis Figured Out! – “Judging from Facebook and Twitter, It seems like everyone has the Refugee crisis figured out. Very few have come up with a balanced and cautious view like this one. It seems like most people including Christians are on either extreme of the pendulum. Some say things like. ‘You should let everyone in! Jesus wouldn’t deny anyone. Quit being a coward!’ Or. ‘You shouldn’t let anyone in! You need to protect America from the terrorist, do you want another Paris?’ I think its OK for us to sit down, take a deep breath and actually say ‘I have no idea what the right thing to do is.’”

Why the Law? – “The Law confused me for a few years. The laws within the Law do not always confuse me. Some are pretty clear, ‘You shall not murder.’ If I buy a Hebrew slave, he serves for six years, but on the seventh he goes free (Exodus 20:13). Yet because of the sheer volume, understanding the Law requires (and would have required) a lot of study in order to rightfully interpret and apply it. What confused me was my relationship to the Law and how I, a Gentile believer should view the Law?”

They Were Destined to Disobey God

They Were Destined to Disobey GodGod predestined some, in his infinite mercy, to hear the gospel and believe. And he predestined others to disobey and reject the good news. I am no scholar, so rarely pay much attention to the proceedings of the Evangelical Theological Society, but this year seems to have been particularly important. Denny Burk reports.

Does God “Want” All to Be Saved?

Michael Kruger takes on the always-controversial question. “But, our answer to these questions depends on what we mean when we say that God “wants” something. And when we talk about what God wants we inevitably must talk about the “will” of God. And this is a subject that requires some careful nuance.”

Arrests in the Amanda Blackburn Case

You may have heard of the tragic, awful death of Amanda Blackburn, the pastor’s wife who was raped and murdered in her home. Two men have now been arrested in connection with the murder. Her husband has continued to shine the light of Christ even in this dark time.

Immigration and the Moral Status of Borders

Here’s an interesting take on immigration and refugees. “Do we think borders are good or bad, a necessary evil or a moral necessity? My contention is that those who argue for open borders undervalue a sense of place and the integrity of nations like Britain and Australia as political communities; but those who argue for closed borders overvalue the likes of Britain and Australia as political communities.”

Why Him, Why Me?

For a longer read, try this story from ESPN. “Two tragic collisions on the football field, separated by 26 years, have brought together a high school linebacker and a former college running back in search of the answer to a life-altering question.”

A Sinful Man After God’s Own Heart

“Christian … and yes I mean Christian … what is your sin of choice? What remnant of the flesh sticks around and still disrupts your experiential peace with God, peace with self, and peace with your neighbor? Peter struggled with faith. Martha struggled with anxiety. John the Baptist struggled with despair.”

Saving Faith, Part 2: Trust in God’s Word

Read: Recommitting Your Life To God and Jesus Christ – Restoration and Forgiveness With God and Jesus Christ (Updated Version)

What is The Gospel?

God made everything out of nothing, including you and me. His main purpose in creation was to bring him pleasure.

The chief way in which we as humanity do this is through loving, obeying, and enjoying him perfectly.

Instead of this, we have sinned against our loving Creator and acted in high-handed rebellion.

God has vowed that he will righteously and lovingly judge sinners with eternal death.

But God, being merciful, loving, gracious, and just, sent his own son, Jesus Christ, in the likeness of man to live as a man; fulfilling his perfect requirements in the place of sinners; loving, obeying, and enjoying him perfectly.

And further, his son bore the eternal judgment of God upon the cross of Calvary, as he satisfied the eternal anger of God, standing in the place of sinners. God treated Jesus as a sinner, though he was perfectly sinless, that he might declare sinners as perfect.

This glorious transaction occurs as the sinner puts their faith (dependence, trust) in the Lord Jesus Christ as their substitute. God then charges Christ’s perfection to the sinner, and no longer views him as an enemy but instead an adopted son covered in the perfect righteousness of his son.

God furnished proof that this sacrifice was accepted by raising Jesus from the dead.

God will judge the world in righteousness and all of those who are not covered in the righteousness of Christ, depending on him for forgiveness, will be forced to stand on their own to bear the eternal anger of God.

Therefore, all must turn from sin and receive Christ Jesus as Lord.

What Is the Gospel?

There is no greater message to be heard than that which we call the gospel. But as important as that is, it is often given to massive distortions or over simplifications. People think they’re preaching the gospel to you when they tell you, ‘you can have a purpose to your life’, or that ‘you can have meaning to your life’, or that ‘you can have a personal relationship with Jesus.’ All of those things are true, and they’re all important, but they don’t get to the heart of the gospel.

The gospel is called the ‘good news’ because it addresses the most serious problem that you and I have as human beings, and that problem is simply this: God is holy and He is just, and I’m not. And at the end of my life, I’m going to stand before a just and holy God, and I’ll be judged. And I’ll be judged either on the basis of my own righteousness–or lack of it –or the righteousness of another. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus lived a life of perfect righteousness, of perfect obedience to God, not for His own well being but for His people. He has done for me what I couldn’t possibly do for myself. But not only has He lived that life of perfect obedience, He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice to satisfy the justice and the righteousness of God.

The great misconception in our day is this: that God isn’t concerned to protect His own integrity. He’s a kind of wishy-washy deity, who just waves a wand of forgiveness over everybody. No. For God to forgive you is a very costly matter. It cost the sacrifice of His own Son. So valuable was that sacrifice that God pronounced it valuable by raising Him from the dead – so that Christ died for us, He was raised for our justification. So the gospel is something objective. It is the message of who Jesus is and what He did. And it also has a subjective dimension. How are the benefits of Jesus subjectively appropriated to us? How do I get it? The Bible makes it clear that we are justified not by our works, not by our efforts, not by our deeds, but by faith–and by faith alone. The only way you can receive the benefit of Christ’s life and death is by putting your trust in Him–and in Him alone. You do that, you’re declared just by God, you’re adopted into His family, you’re forgiven of all of your sins, and you have begun your pilgrimage for eternity.

The Gospel on 5 Fingers

If you picked up a hitchhiker (not that I recommend doing that) and he saw a Bible on your car seat and said, “I’ve heard about this thing called the Gospel – can you explain it to me before you drop me off in one minute up the street?” What would you say?

Can you explain the gospel in 30 seconds? In one minute? In five minutes?

Here’s one way I have found helpful. The five main components of the gospel can be remembered on 5 fingers of one hand. Here they are:

1) Jesus’ birth
2) Jesus’ life
3) Jesus’ death
4) Jesus’ resurrection
5) Jesus’ ascension

Obviously each point can be elaborated on depending on how much time you have. Here’s the short version:

1) Jesus’ birth – Jesus, God himself, the creator of the universe, the Messiah, became a human being – took on flesh, and was born of a virgin.

2) Jesus’ life – Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience to his Father. Though he was tempted in every way as we are, he never once sinned.

3) Jesus’ death – on the cross, Jesus himself took all our sins and paid for them. God the father counted all our sins to Jesus as if he himself had personally committed them. Then Jesus bore God’s wrath towards sin – the punishment we deserved – as a substitute for us.

4) Jesus’ resurrection – within 3 days, Jesus rose physically from the dead, proving that his sacrifice for sins have been accepted by God, since the punishment for sin was death. Jesus was seen by numerous people after he rose including 500 at one time (1 Corinthians 15).

5) Jesus’ ascension – Jesus ascended physically into heaven where he reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords. And someday he will return to the earth.

That’s the gospel, the good news, and if we believe in Jesus Christ and this good news and call upon him he will save us from our sins and give us eternal life.

That’s a simple way to remember the gospel – five fingers. Even a child can do it. So ask God to give you opportunities to share his good news today.

Ready to start your new life with God?

Who do you think that I am?

With that brief question Jesus Christ confronted His followers with the most important issue they would ever face. He had spent much time with them and made some bold claims about His identity and authority. Now the time had come for them either to believe or deny His teachings.

Who do you say Jesus is? Your response to Him will determine not only your values and lifestyle, but your eternal destiny as well.

Turkey: The Country ISIS Uses As A Home Base And Where It Has Sold 800 Millions Dollars Of Oil

ISIS - Public Domain
If we truly do want to get rid of ISIS, why aren’t we doing anything about the Islamic governments that are funding them, aiding them and facilitating the sale of their oil?  As you will see below, ISIS fighters hop back and forth over the Turkish border with impunity, there are “direct dealings between Turkish officials and ranking ISIS members”, and more than $800,000,000 worth of ISIS oil has been sold in Turkey.  If these things are true, action must be taken.  According to a recent Rasmussen Reports survey, 92 percent of Americans consider Islamic terrorism to be a serious threat to the United States, and a Washington Post-ABC News survey found that 83 percent of registered voters believe that a terror attack that causes a large amount of casualties inside the United States is likely in the near future.  The American people clearly want ISIS to be dealt with, so why isn’t the Obama administration doing anything to go after the state sponsors of such terror? Obama: Incompetence or Treason?

This is not mere incompetence, but a carefully planned program of eradication: A plan to crush what he hates, the West, Christianity, Israel and America

Why has Obama taken a far back seat in the war on terror? Why has Obama seemingly switched sides? Why did Obama eagerly criticize Bush II about the national debt and then go about doubling it? Why does Obama back the Muslim Brotherhood? Why does Obama have such animosity towards Netanyahu and Israel, our greatest ally in the region? Why is Obama insisting on importing Syrian ‘refugees’ contrary to fervent public opinion in spite of the Paris tragedy and then say “Are you telling me that the American people are afraid of widows and orphans?” Does this man think we are stupid? In short, why is Obama doing the opposite of what any amount of common sense would say to do?

‘Clock Bomb Boy’ Ahmed Mohamed Sues Irving, Texas For $15 Million Dollars

‘Clock bomb boy’ Ahmed Mohamed’s family seeks $15 million, apologies from Texas city

EDITOR’S NOTE: First of all, Ahmed Mohamed did not “make a clock”. He disassembled a Radio Shack clock and reassembled it in a suitcase to make it resemble a terrorist bomb. He then brought it to school for the express purpose of stirring up controversy. As his baseless lawsuit now shows, Ahmed and his family are conducting a financial jihad to bilk the people of Texas out of millions while they cower in hiding in Qatar. NTEB applauds the quick reactions of both the school system and local police for immediately arresting this con artist when he brought the clock bomb to school.

CNN is reporting that Ahmed Mohamed, the young Muslim who made a suitcase bomb ‘clock’ which he brought to school in an obvious attempt to get himself some publicity, has announced that he and is family is demanding $15 million dollars in “damages” from the Irving, Texas school system and police force. Ahmed and his family moved to the Middle East shortly after his clock bomb skit.

In September, 14-year-old Ahmed made international headlines when he brought a handmade “clock bomb” to school to show his teachers.

One of them thought it was a bomb and notified school authorities, who then called police. Ahmed was detained, questioned and hauled off in handcuffs. At the time, the school said it reacted with caution because the contraption that had wires could have been an explosive device.

In a whirlwind of publicity about the case fueled by social media, #IStandWithAhmed became a trending topic on Twitter, President Barack Obama invited the teen to attend an event at the White House and a foundation offered him a scholarship to study in Qatar.

But despite the surge of support for Ahmed, the attorney representing his family says the teen suffered severe psychological trauma and that his “reputation in the global community is permanently scarred.”

In two letters sent Monday to attorneys representing the school district and the city, attorney Kelly Hollingsworth says that Ahmed’s civil rights were violated by the way the case was handled.

Irving city officials told CNN they were reviewing the letter and had no comment.

The McAvany Intel Memo

The more you look into the state of our medical system, the more obvious it becomes that few of the decisions government officials make have anything to do with your health. What they care about is control, money, and power. Supplements allow people to take responsibility for their own health, avoid taking drugs, and see doctors less. Furthermore, the government doesn’t regulate supplements as heavily as it does drugs. That means the government doesn’t have control, doesn’t make money off the supplements, and has no power over them. But one area where the government is requiring complete control is in the area of vaccines. What it is doing in this arena will follow into every other area of medicine. Absolute control.

Late last year, the CDC openly admitted that the flu vaccine for this past flu season didn’t work. They had the wrong strain. This happens far more often than people realize. While most people will tell you the flu vaccine works – for no other reason than that they have blind faith that it is so – the truth is that they rarely work. Yet these vaccinations are forced on many workers every year. In many cases they make people ill and in some they actually kill people.

Over the past few decades there have been several swine flu scares promoted by the World Health Organization, the CDC, and other health organizations, and a great flurry of swine flu vaccinations have followed. In every case, many more people have died from the vaccinations than have died from the Swine flu – a fact that Big Pharma and the medical establishment in America want to keep well hidden. During the Swine flu panic of 1976, 4,000 people fell ill after taking the Swine flu vaccine, 500 contracted a paralyzing nerve disorder, and over 30 people died.

BREAKING NEWS – 5.5-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Mexican Capital

Posted: 24 Nov 2015 06:03 AM PST

MEXICO CITY –– An earthquake rattled central Mexico on Monday, swaying buildings in Mexico City. Some office workers rushed to the streets in the capital. Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera wrote in his Twitter account that there was no immediate word of damage or casualties. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 5.5 and its epicenter was in the sparsely populated mountains north-east of Acapulco, about 160 miles (260 kilometers) south of Mexico City. The quake was also felt strongly there, but no damage was immediately reported.

Because of its site on an unstable former lakebed, Mexico’s capital often feels such quakes strongly even if they occur some distance away. Journalist Eduardo Garcia, 54, said the quake “felt pretty strong” on the 14th floor of a Mexico City office building. “Anyone who has been in Mexico for many years knows which are the strong ones and which aren’t,” Garcia said. “On the 14th floor, the procedure is to get close to a column or a wall and wait for the building to stop moving, and then get down the stairway.” MORE

WAR DRUMS: Downing of Russian jet over Syria stab in the back by terrorist accomplices

Posted: 24 Nov 2015 05:57 AM PST

Turkey backstabbed Russia by downing the Russian warplane and acted as accomplices of the terrorists, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. “This incident stands out against the usual fight against terrorism. Our troops are fighting heroically against terrorists, risking their lives. But the loss we suffered today came from a stab in the back delivered by accomplices of the terrorists,” Putin said.

Putin said the plane was hit by a Turkish warplane as it was traveling at an altitude of 6000 meters about a kilometer from the Turkish border. It was hit by an air-to-air missile launched by a Turkish F-16 jet. The crash site is four kilometers from the border. BREAKING NEWS – Bomb explodes in central Athens outside business federation HQ

Posted: 24 Nov 2015 05:53 AM PST

A bomb has exploded outside the Federation of Greek Industries’ offices in Athens. The blast, thought to be the work of domestic groups, damaged nearby buildings but did not cause any casualties. The explosive device had been placed in a backpack near the entrance of the Hellenic Business Federation’s offices. It was triggered by a timer set for around 3:30m local time. Prior to the blast at 2:50am an anonymous caller notified the Lambrakis Press that a bomb has been placed near the offices on the Xenophon, warning that the bomb would explode roughly 40 minutes after the call ended. The journalists immediately notified Athens police who dispatched special units to the scene.

Prior to the blast, authorities completely cordoned off the area of the specified threat. A violent explosion indeed followed, with witnesses reporting hearing the blast in several different parts of the capital. Police are now examining security footage from surveillance cameras surrounding the area. So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. Police sources told Reuters, that domestic guerrilla groups are most likely behind the assault. Attacks against the Greek political establishment and business interests have become pretty commonplace in the wake of harsh austerity measures in the country that were first introduced in 2010. Israeli jets strike Gaza in response to rocket fire

Posted: 24 Nov 2015 05:48 AM PST

The Israeli Air Force has launched airstrikes targeting a “Hamas post” in the Gaza Strip in retaliation to a rocket that was launched at southern Israel earlier in the day. According to reports, Israeli jets targeted a training camp of Hamas’ armed wing in central Gaza, apparently blaming the group for the rocket that landed in southern Israel’s Eshkol Regional Council on Monday morning.

The projectile exploded in unpopulated area, causing no injuries or damage. Alert sirens were not activated, but security forces reportedly swept the area to find the remnants of the rocket. Israel maintains that Hamas bears full responsibility for all “goings-on in the Gaza Strip,” according to an IDF statement cited by Haaretz. MORE

Is Islam Bringing the World to the Brink of Chaos?

Posted: 24 Nov 2015 05:44 AM PST

(Troy Anderson) As Western countries have opened their doors to refugees fleeing Muslim nations, Bible prophecy expert Eric Walker says this could be the linchpin for destabilizing the West and ushering in the “Psalm 83 War” in the Middle East. Walker, the founder of the Igniting a Nation ministry and the former founding rabbi of the Messianic Jewish congregation Beth Hallel Birmingham, believes the Paris terrorist attacks that killed 130 people are “just the beginning of the chaos.” Although the terrorist attacks in Paris, Mali and elsewhere are in the headlines today, the roots of this conflict began in Genesis 15 when God gave the biblical mandate establishing the borders of ancient Israel followed by the account in Genesis 16 when the Angel of the Lord said Ishmael would be a “wild man” whose “hand shall be against every man.”

“As we watch ISIS and fundamentalist Islam, we see that the stage is being set for a battle in the Middle East,” Walker says. “When we examine the world around us, we begin to see that we have refugees amassing on the border of Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria, and we begin to see the formation of the confederacy described in Psalm 83. “Never before could we really anticipate Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Syria northern Saudi Arabia, northern Egypt, Gaza and the West Bank working in concert with one another. Now, we have these terrorist organizations amassing on the borders of Israel.” In his view, the stage is being set for a significant event in the Middle East, possibly the “Psalm 83 War”—an event some prophecy experts believe will precede the war described in Ezekiel 38-39 known as the “War of Gog and Magog,” involving a Russian-Iranian-led attack on Israel prior to the Tribulation period. WAR DRUMS: Putin Warns Russia will not tolerate such crimes as attack against its Sukhoi-24 plane

Posted: 24 Nov 2015 05:37 AM PST

Russia will not tolerate crimes like the attack on the Russian Su-24 fighter jet shot down by Turkish AA-forces in Syrian skies, President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday at a meeting with King of Jordan Abdullah II. “I understand each country has its own regional interests, and we have always respected that. But we shall never tolerate crimes like today’s one,” the President said. He expressed hope “the international community will find the forces to unite in the face of this common evil (terrorism).”The Russian leader stressed that the Russian Su-24 fighter-bomber was posing no threat to Turkey. “Anyway, our pilots and jet posed no threat to the Turkish Republic. This is obvious. They were conducting an operation against ISIL,” Putin said at the meeting with King Abdallah II of Jordan. MORE

One pilot ‘killed,’ another feared in Syrian ‘rebel’ hands…
Syrian rebel officials claim to have photos and video showing that one of two Russian pilots from a jet downed by the Turkish military has died. Speaking to Reuters, the group said footage showing a dead man in apparent Russian air force gear was genuine, and captured on Tuesday in the northern countryside of Latakia province. The video, which has not been independently verified, appeared to show Syrian rebel fighters standing around the body and chanting “Allahu Akbar”. Another rebel official was quoted in the Associated Press as saying that the captured Russian pilot was found dead upon landing. A major rescue operation was launched to bring back the two Russian pilots, whose jet was shot down after Turkey claimed it entered that country’s air space. Moscow denies airspace violation… Turkish fighter jets shot down a Russian warplane near the Syrian border on Tuesday after repeated warnings over air space violations, but Moscow said it could prove the jet had not left Syrian air space. It was the first time a NATO member’s armed forces have downed a Russian or Soviet military aircraft since the 1950s and Russian and Turkish assets fell on fears of an escalation between the former Cold War enemies. A Kremlin spokesman said it was a “very serious incident” but that it was too early to draw conclusions. Footage from private Turkish broadcaster Haberturk TV showed the warplane going down in flames in a woodland area, a long plume of smoke trailing behind it. The plane went down in area known by Turks as “Turkmen Mountain”, it said. MORE

NATO calls ‘extraordinary meeting’ – NATO allies will hold an “extraordinary” meeting Tuesday at Ankara’s request to discuss Turkey’s shooting down of a Russian fighter jet along the Syrian border, an alliance official said. “At the request of Turkey, the North Atlantic Council will hold an extraordinary meeting at (1600 GMT). The aim of this extraordinary NAC is for Turkey to inform Allies about the downing of a Russian airplane,” the official told AFP. The North Atlantic Council consists of ambassadors from the 28 NATO member states. Our Time is Short

Albert Mohler Blog: “They Did Not Honor Him or Give Thanks — Why Thanksgiving is Inescapably Theological”

In this blog essay, Dr. R. Albert Mohler explores the importance of thanksgiving in the Christian life which he identifies as a “deeply theological act.” Mohler writes:

“Paul wants us to understand that the refusal to honor God and give thanks is a raw form of the primal sin. Theologians have long debated the foundational sin — and answers have ranged from lust to pride. Nevertheless, it would seem that being unthankful, refusing to recognize God as the source of all good things, is very close to the essence of the primal sin. What explains the rebellion of Adam and Eve in the Garden? A lack of proper thankfulness was at the core of their sin. God gave them unspeakable riches and abundance, but forbade them the fruit of one tree. A proper thankfulness would have led our first parents to avoid that fruit at all costs, and to obey the Lord’s command. Taken further, this first sin was also a lack of thankfulness in that the decision to eat the forbidden fruit indicated a lack of thankfulness that took the form of an assertion that we creatures — not the Creator — know what is best for us and intend the best for us.”

Mocking Jesus Christ by Abortion, the Real ‘Scandal’

Eradicate: Blotting Out God in America

1scandal

Some important stories drew the public’s attention last week including the heated debate over national security; open borders, ISIS, welcoming refugees to America, and teachers promoting Islam in public schools.

Overlooked however, were television ads featuring two dads, the news about Target Corporation fully backing radical LGBT legislation (so-called “Equality Act”) that would criminalize Christianity, and not surprisingly, prime time promotion of abortion.

Losing public support due to its many scandals, what’s an abortion giant to do? Have Hollywood promote your godless cause!

Writing for Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), Marissa Poulson asked,

It can’t get any worse than abortionists advertising fresh baby parts to the highest bidder and pulling dead babies out of the freezer, right? We already told you about Katie Couric’s problematic PR visit to Planned Parenthood, but last night’s winter finale of Scandal was one big, hour-long Planned Parenthood advertisement.

Presuppositions or Evidences? Yes!

The Reformed Reader

Presuppositionalism or Evidentialism? That’s a question about apologetics: should we defend the faith presupposing the existence of God or by use of evidences (e.g. creation, the empty tomb, etc.)? I like Os Guinness’ balanced approach to this question. While talking about the journey from unbelief to faith, Guinness writes this:

“…What should be clear from this description of the journey toward faith is that the answer is not either-or, but both-and and which-when. Both presuppositions and evidences are a key part of our apologetic approach, and the real question is which to focus on and when.”

“Think of the relationship of presuppositions and evidences like this. Before people reach stage one (a person asking serious life and meaning questions), they are closed to God, and their unbelief is a matter of false presuppositions, as St. Paul explained. At that stage a discussion of evidences may sometimes intrigue them, but evidences…

Why Democrat talk of taking in Syrian refugees infuriates me

WINTERY KNIGHT

Women for bigger government, higher taxes Women for bigger government, higher taxes

Obama wants to take in 10,000 Syrian refugees this year, then another 100,000 in 2016 and another 100,000 in 2017.

In previous posts, I have laid out several reasons for why we should not take in Syrian refugees. First and foremost is the cost of taking in Syrian refugees – pegged at $6.5 billion total for just the first 10,000 refugees. Canada is taking in twice that number, and their government costed their plan out at $1.2 billion for only six years. Obama himself doesn’t earn any money, has never worked in the private sector. So he isn’t going to pay for this with his own $6.5 billion with his own hard work. He’s going to pass that bill onto young people to pay, but today he’ll preen for the cameras and show how “generous” he is for spending other people’s money. He…

I believe the GOP presidential race has come down to a “Final Four.” Which candidates deserve closest scrutiny? Here’s my report from Iowa.

It was an honor to pray for America and for the presidential candidates who participated in the forum in Des Moines on Friday. It was an honor to pray for America and for the presidential candidates who participated in the forum in Des Moines on Friday.

(Des Moines, Iowa) — As America continues hurtling down a dangerous path toward implosion, as darkness falls in the Middle East and North Africa, as the forces of evil advance and the forces of freedom retreat, anyone who cares about the American people and the people of the epicenter needs to pay very close attention to the American presidential race.

Indeed, as I explained in my last column:

  • We need a President who understands thatWestern leaders ignore the threat of Apocalyptic Islam at their peril.
  • We need a Commander-in-Chief who truly understands the magnitude of the threats posed by Radical and Apocalyptic Islam.
  • We need a President who has serious ideas about how to neutralize such threats, and has solid national experience that can assure us that he or she is really…

Ben Shapiro’s speech Thursday evening at the University of Missouri was a galvanizing moment for the campus and community that became the national focus of media attention in early November after a group of radical black liberation activists, assisted by leftist faculty members, forced the resignation of the university’s president and chancellor.
The event marked the first large, public backlash to the political correctness gone wild that had overtaken Mizzou in the past several months.

Christ’s suffering and Christian suffering
