June 20: Man vs. Nature

Ezra 9:1–10:44; 1 John 4:7–12; Psalm 107:23–43

As a teenager, I devoured stories about men and women at odds with nature. These man vs. nature struggles always told of a battle of wills. Nature was always at its most magnificent and most frightening: untamed, unwieldy, and heartless. The characters seemed to be living on the edge of human experience—they were not focused and resolute, anticipating the next turn of events like a typical Hollywood action film, but frightened and helpless before an uncaring force.

If we read Psa 107, we’ll find this genre isn’t unique to contemporary novels. Biblical writers also used the man vs. nature theme to show battling wills. Psalm 107 reads like a riveting short story: “Those who went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the high seas; they saw the works of Yahweh, and his wonderful deeds in the deep. For he spoke and raised up a stormy wind, and it whipped up its waves. They rose to the heavens; they plunged to the depths. Their soul melted in their calamity. They reeled and staggered like a drunkard, and they were at their wits’ end” (Psa 107:23–27).

When faced with uncontrollable forces, people make choices that mean life or death. In the stories of my youth, the characters were sometimes able to use their wits to get to safety. But most often, they died trying. The English idiom used in this psalm, “their wits’ end,” is actually a rendering of the Hebrew idiom, “their wisdom was swallowed up.” The men in this psalm weren’t just flustered; they were helpless. Their resources and smarts couldn’t battle this power.

Yet the men didn’t meet only a cold, deadly force when they came to the end of their own strength. “Then they cried out to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distresses” (Psa 107:28). Submission in the battle of wills leads to Yahweh’s love and care. He is more than willing to guide us to the safe harbor (Psa 107:30).

When faced with difficult circumstances, do you rely on your own strength, even when it’s insufficient? If you cry out to God, do you believe that He will answer?

June 20 Guarding Your Motives

“If a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes, and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, ‘You sit here in a good place,’ and you say to the poor man, ‘You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool’; have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives?” (James 2:2–4).


Favoritism is motivated by an evil desire to gain some advantage for yourself.

The story is told of a pastor who never ministered to an individual or family in his church without first checking a current record of their financial contributions. The more generous they were with their money, the more generous he was with his time. That’s an appalling and flagrant display of favoritism, but in effect it’s the same kind of situation James dealt with in our text for today.

Picture yourself in a worship service or Bible study when suddenly two visitors enter the room. The first visitor is a wealthy man, as evidenced by his expensive jewelry and designer clothes. The second visitor lives in abject poverty. The street is his home, as evidenced by his filthy, smelly, shabby clothing.

How would you respond to each visitor? Would you give the rich man the best seat in the house and see that he is as comfortable as possible? That’s a gracious thing to do if your motives are pure. But if you’re trying to win his favor or to profit from his wealth, a vicious sin has taken hold of you.

Your true motives will be revealed in the way you treat the poor man. Do you show him equal honor, or do you simply invite him to sit on the floor? Anything less than equal honor reveals an evil intent.

Favoritism can be subtle. That’s why you must be in prayer and in the Word, constantly allowing the Spirit to penetrate and purify your deepest, most secret motives.


Suggestions for Prayer:  Praise God for His purity. ✧ Ask Him always to control your motives and actions.

For Further Study: Some Christians confuse honor with partiality. Giving honor to those in authority is Biblical; showing partiality is sinful. Read 1 Peter 2:17 and Romans 13:1, noting the exhortations to honor those in authority over you.[1]

Crooked Hillary Begs For Money to Fight ‘Trump’s Cruel Immigration Policy’ — The Gateway Pundit


On Wednesday, Crooked Hillary continued to beg for donations to combat ‘Trump’s cruel immigration policy.’

Never let a [fake] crisis go to waste, right?

Hillary Clinton, one of the most corrupt, criminal liars to ever hold public office in this country had the nerve to cite a Bible verse and beg for money this week from her Twitter account to fight against current immigration laws that separate illegal alien children from ‘parents’ at the border.

This exact law was in place during the Obama years, but now since Trump is president, it is suddenly a humanitarian crisis and Republicans are evil for allowing it to happen.

We have no definitive proof the children are even related to the adults they show up with at the border which only encourages child trafficking.

In fact, Saagar Enjeti from The Daily Caller reports, “single males with ‘children’ are increasingly arriving. Neither the child nor the adult can answer basic questions about each other, authorities suspect rampant fraud.”

Hillary celebrated raising over $500,000 off of the media’s manufactured border crisis.

Hillary continued to beg for money on Wednesday.

The Paid Liars Of Fake News Implode As Rachel Maddow Sheds Dry Crocodile Tears Over Trump’s Enforcement Of Obama’s Policies — Now The End Begins

The fake news media and political class become more and more outraged over the Trump administration’s decision to detain and prosecute immigrants illegally crossing the border.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Poor Rachel Maddow, she was so ‘overcome with emotion’ last night as she tried in vain to say the words ‘tender age detention centers’, that she fake cried her way out of her spot and handed it off to her colleague. But flashback to 2014 when over 100,000 children were placed in Obama’s child detention centers, and NO ONE in all of fake news lands was even the least bit outraged. No one called Obama out, no one demanded the policies change, and no one thought what was being done was a bad thing. So President Trump in 2018, who is simply carrying out the established policy of the Obama administration to deal with illegal immigrant children detainees, is immediatly cast as a person more evil than Hitler. The mainstream media is not only fake news, it is deliberately false information tied to a Marxist agenda whose only purpose is to deceive and mislead the viewers, with the goal of fomenting class warfare and creating division. America under this tyranny is much more divided as a nation than we were during even the Civil War. In fact, this is a civil war, declared by the fake news media upon the America people. 

Lost in the debate is any acknowledgment that President Obama’s administration also used detention facilities. Current U.S. immigration laws, when enforced, have the consequence of temporarily separating adults who arrive with children into separate detention facilities in order to prosecute the adults.

The policy of prosecuting immigrants for crossing the border illegally has been in place for multiple administrations. The Obama administration prosecuted half a million illegal immigrants and similarly separated families in the process. So did the Bush administration.

Personal accounts from immigration lawyers tell a tale of Obama being equally concerned about unaccompanied minors traveling to the border and wanting to create a deterrent.

The Christian doctrine of obedience to God and to His will is now largely neglected in modern religious circles, and many in our own congregations seem to feel that our obligation to obey has been discharged by the act of believing on Jesus Christ at the beginning of our Christian lives.

We need to remember that “the will is the seat of true religion in the soul.” Nothing genuine has been done in a man or woman’s life until his or her will has been surrendered in active obedience. It was disobedience that brought about the ruin of the race. It is the obedience of faith that brings us back again into the divine favor!

It needs to be said that a world of confusion results from trying to believe without obeying!

A mere passive surrender may be no surrender at all. Any real submission to the will of God must include willingness to take orders from Him from that time on.

I keep wondering whether the Lord’s ministers will again give to obedience the place of prominence it occupies in the Scriptures.

Lord, I pray that our churches will be moved to call their people to an intentional, active obedience of faith and that individuals, prompted by Your Spirit, will respond with great humility.[1]

Demo Party Leaders Don’t Care About Children — Unless…

Demos don’t want an immigration solution. They want fodder for political talking points to advance their statist agenda and midterm election prospects.

Oh, what to do?

Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) are scurrying around the congressional chambers trying to figure out how to derail Donald Trump’s highly successful Make America Great Again policies before the 2018 midterm elections. They have their work cut out for them.

According to current tracking by the reputable Gallup organization, satisfaction with the direction of the country is now higher than at any time since 2005. That’s higher than any year Barack Obama’s regime was in power. And President Trump’s approval ratings are slowly climbing.

Making matters worse, first-quarter GDP growth of 2.2% was better than expected. Headline unemployment dropped to 3.8%, the best since 2000. The U-6 unemployment rate is at 7.6%, the lowest since 2001. Black unemployment hit a record low of 5.9%. Female unemployment is at 3.6%, the lowest since 1953.

And worse yet, the paychecks of American workers are growing at a record pace. Consumer confidence is at an 18-year high and small business optimism is approaching a record high.

So how can Democrats stop this progress toward “Armageddon,” as Pelosi calls it? If they don’t, it will be Armageddon for their 2018 prospects, as well as for Pelosi’s chance to regain the speaker’s gavel.

Well, here’s an idea!

Create a social media firestorm with a viral image of children in cages, claiming it’s “children ripped from the arms of their parents by Donald Trump” and comparing Trump to Hitler — even though the photo in question was taken when Obama was setting immigration policy.

Then, bank on the fact that most of your constituents are emotionally incontinent dupes, and count on your Leftmedia propagandists to keep this charade in front of those dupes 24/7.

If successful, it will help undermine Republican efforts to pass any meaningful immigration reform legislation, and this faux focus on “the children” will elevate the immigration issue and erode confidence in Trump and Republicans in the midterm election. Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures.

There’s only one glaring problem: Democrats don’t give a damn about American children, much less immigrant children, unless they can be used to advance the Left’s statist political agenda.

Schumer exposed the Demos’ indifference, making clear they are just cynically leveraging the issue by refusing to take Senate action to remedy the family separation issue. “There’s no need for legislation, there’s no need for anything else,” Schumer declared after seeing how successful the Demo campaign to smear Trump has been. “If the president’s ashamed at what’s happening at the border, he can change it. … [Republicans] are feeling the heat. They are the ones feeling the heat on this issue, and that’s why they’re squirming.”

Wait, I thought the issue was young children “feeling the heat.”

The irrefutable fact is, if Democrats really cared about children, they would not continue to advocate policies that institutionalize poverty and enslave tens of millions of Americans on their urban poverty plantations, created by their catastrophically failed “Great Society” “welfare” programs. But then, Democrats thrive on “victim constituencies.”

(Need I add that, if Democrats really cared about children, they wouldn’t redistribute taxpayer income to Planned Parenthood for the forcible removal of more than a thousand children from their mothers every day.)

If they really cared about the children of illegal immigrants, they would’ve written and passed their own “dream” immigration policies in 2010, when they had full control of the executive and legislative branches.

But they didn’t.

Currently, there are about 2,000 children temporarily sheltered apart from their parents (or those claiming to be their parents), but there are also more than 20,000 kids separated from urban-plantation parents because those adults are in prison.

Fact is, Democrat policies have invited a flood of illegal immigration in the last year to their “sanctuary cities” by insisting illegal aliens won’t be prosecuted.

How the times have changed!

Before Democrats realized their political future was in jeopardy, Obama insisted: “We are a nation of laws. Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws, and I believe that they must be held accountable. When I took office, I committed to fixing this broken immigration system and began to do what I could to secure our borders. Today our immigration system is broken and everybody knows it. … We will [add] additional [border] resources for our law enforcement personnel, so that they can stem the tide of illegal crossing and to speed the return of those who do cross over. If you are a criminal, you will be deported. … We expect people who live in this country to play by the rules.”

Obama added, “To those members of Congress who question my authority … or question my wisdom to act where Congress has failed, I have one answer: Pass a bill.”

Schumer declared: “People who enter the U.S. without our permission are illegal aliens, and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who enter the U.S. legally. … When we use phrases like ‘undocumented workers,’ we convey to the American people that their government is not serious about combating illegal immigration. … I think it is illegal and wrong.”

Hillary Clinton had this to say about DACA legislation: “We have to send a clear message — just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean your child gets to stay. We don’t want to send a message that is contrary to our laws.”

And both Hillary and Bill Clinton were once staunch advocates for a border wall.

So what changed? Why are Democrats now in favor of illegal immigration?

A few years ago, when Demos were still feigning concern for their blue-collar and union-worker constituencies, whose jobs and wages had been deflated by unchecked illegal immigration, they talked tough about illegal aliens. But their proposals were all smoke and mirrors. They routinely made fake political plays for Latino and Hispanic voters while pursuing policies that protected their traditional constituencies.

But as its lower- and middle-income voter blocs began hemorrhaging to Trump’s promise (and delivery) of prosperity, the Democrat Party turned its back on those constituent groups and opened a socialist voter pipeline to flood our nation with their most promising future constituency — Latinos. And labor union fat cats, whose member rolls have also been hemorrhaging, see these largely unskilled and low-wage immigrants as their future dues-payers.

Since the implementation of Trump’s zero-tolerance policy in April, rather than feed and release illegal immigrants who fail to return for asylum or deportation hearings, almost 2,000 minors, some young, have been separated from their parents at the border. However, as Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen noted, the vast majority of children currently housed in Health and Human Services detention centers — 10,000 of them — are minors who illegally crossed the border without their parents. Notably, she also disclosed, “In the last five months, we have a 314 percent increase in adults and children arriving at the border fraudulently, claiming to be a family unit.”

Fact is, the drug cartels, gangs, human traffickers and Middle Eastern nationals are exploiting the border crisis in order to gain access into the U.S. For the record, last year 113 political candidates were murdered in Mexico and more than 50 of their relatives have also been murdered. The cartels and gangs are exporting that violence across our border.

Mexico is one of the most dangerous nations on the planet, and five of its cities rank in the top 10 most dangerous cities, including most notably Ciudad Juarez, right across the border from El Paso. (Last time I was there, seven federal police were killed the night before I arrived.)

Point is, our southern border is a dangerous place, and the Democrat effort to use children to put a smiley face on that fact, after advocating open boarders, is disgraceful hypocrisy.

According to President Trump: “The United States will not be a migrant camp and it will not be a refugee holding facility. It won’t be. If you look at what’s happening in Europe, if you look at what’s happening in other places, we can’t allow that to happen to the United States — not on my watch. We want safety and we want security for our country. If Democrats would sit down instead of obstructing, we could have something done very quickly. … But just remember, a country without borders is not a country at all. We need borders. We need security. We need safety. We have to take care of our people.”

National Review’s Rich Lowry has written a good summary of the evolution of the enforcement issue related to children: “The Trump administration isn’t changing the rules that pertain to separating an adult from the child. Those remain the same. Separation happens only if officials find that the adult is falsely claiming to be the child’s parent, or is a threat to the child, or is put into criminal proceedings. The past practice had been to give a free pass to an adult who is part of a family unit. The new Trump policy is to prosecute all adults. The idea is to send a signal that we are serious about our laws and to create a deterrent against re-entry. (Illegal entry is a misdemeanor, illegal re-entry a felony.)”

Of course, immigrant families claiming asylum or refugee status at official ports of entry aren’t separated from children. Only those who attempt to cross illegally are separated from their children while being processed through the courts.

As I noted above, American citizens are also separated from their children while justice is served. But those kids aren’t good for leftist political agendas.

Just because the Trump administration is now finally enforcing long-standing immigration laws doesn’t mean that families being held prior to deportation shouldn’t be kept together during legal proceedings. Fact is, most of these illegal immigrants are seeking better opportunities — including “free” housing, schooling and medical care. And they are coming in ever-larger numbers because previous administrations have advertised that they can cross into the U.S. with impunity.

That being said, we should be concerned for the younger minors, those too young to understand why they are being separated from their parents.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has proposed legislation authorizing new temporary shelters to house families together until their asylum requests are processed. In the meantime, it’s worth mentioning that the conditions and provisions for those children are infinitely better than the conditions and provisions they had before crossing the U.S. border.

Trump has repeatedly called on Republicans and Democrats to send him legislation resolving the illegal immigration issue. On Tuesday, he endorsed both House immigration bills that build the wall, close legal loopholes, cancel the visa lottery, curb chain migration, and solve the border crisis and family separation issue by allowing for family detention and removal. Agreement on this legislation has thus far eluded Republican consensus. The division in the Republican ranks has been a split over what amounts to amnesty vs. border security and enforcement.

We favor Virginia Rep. Bob Goodlatte’s Border Security and Immigration Reform Act over the proposal by House Speaker Paul Ryan, and it will be an extraordinary achievement if the House can agree on how to merge the bills.

Regardless, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has signaled that stand-alone legislation to resolve the family separation issue will pass if one of the immigration bills doesn’t.

If Republicans don’t pass one of the two immigration bills currently under consideration before the end of the week, Trump is considering an executive order to resolve the short-term issue of family separation. “I’ll be signing something in a little while that’s going to do that,” Trump said Wednesday. “I’ll be doing something that’s somewhat preemptive and ultimately will be matched by legislation I’m sure.”

But that will not resolve the Ninth Circuit Court requirement that the adults be released after 20 days.

Regardless, as I noted, Demos don’t want an immigration solution. They want fodder for political talking points to advance their statist agenda and midterm election prospects.

And finally, yesterday morning’s incoming email from across the political spectrum included several dramatic Democrat Party fundraising requests. One was from foul-mouthed DNC Chair Tom Perez, inviting me to “Stand against Trump’s cruelty to children.”

But more amusing was the following appeal from Hillary Clinton: “What’s happening to families at the border right now is horrific: Nursing infants ripped away from their mothers. Parents told their toddlers are being taken to bathe or play, only to realize hours later that they aren’t coming back. Children incarcerated in warehouses and, according to more than one account, kept in cages. This is a moral and humanitarian crisis.”

For the record, the most epic “humanitarian crisis” in decades was the direct result of failed Obama/Clinton Middle East policy. Almost five million people have had to flee Syria and other nations in the region with their families, and another six million remain displaced internally. Recall the dramatic images of a drowned refugee child washing up on a Turkish shore. It’s estimated that more than 2,000 refugees drowned during that exodus.

According to Clinton, the detention of children on our southern border “is not happening because of the ‘Democrats’ law,’ as the White House has claimed. Separating families is not mandated by law at all. That is an outright lie. And it is incumbent on all of us, journalists and citizens alike, to call it just that.”

Clinton, of course, is the “Congenital Liar.” The original immigration policy was implemented by Bill Clinton.

As for Clinton’s advice on immigration and the Bible, I’ll pass.

Feminists: It’s Always Wrong To Harass And Bully A Woman, Unless She Is A Republican — The Federalist

Jessica Valenti revealed a new standard for liberal feminists on Tuesday: Driving women out of restaurants is wrong, unless they’re a Republican. If that woman is named Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen, the behavior is not only acceptable — it’s to be applauded.

The situation began when the head of the D.C. branch of Democratic Socialists of America tweeted the restaurant name and exact address where Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen sat down for dinner. The dinner came after a very public day for Nielsen, who defended the Trump administration’s decision to fully enforce U.S. immigration laws against all who illegally cross the border — a policy that in some case results in separating children from their illegal immigrant parents due to a settlement entered into in 1997 by the Clinton administration.

The protesters marched through MXDC Cocina Mexicana uninterrupted for 11 minutes, screaming things at Nielsen such as, “Shame, shame, shame,” “Fascist pig,” ‘End Texas concentration camps,” and “No borders, no walls, sanctuary for all.”


Nielsen sat there listening to the protesters — never once shouting back — until she was eventually driven out of the restaurant.

The protest was supported by many on the left, including an editor at The Washington Post and Valenti, a feminist writer who recently penned a New York Times op-ed telling conservative women they can’t be feminists. Valenti, who supposedly stands for the championing of women, described the harassment of Nielsen “VERY satisfying” to watch.

“She should never be able to show her face in public again,” she said.

As for the obvious hypocrisy of a “feminist” encouraging the targeted harassment of another woman, well, there’s an explanation for that. Harassment is wrong, Valenti tweeted, but not when there’s a good reason.

To the folks replying ‘it’s not feminist to harass women.’ That’s true! But it is absolutely feminist to hold powerful people accountable – no matter what their gender, no matter where they are – for the crimes they commit against vulnerable children.

Valenti is right — “feminists” of all perspectives can and should hold the powerful accountable — characteristics such as gender, race, and sexual orientation are irrelevant. But that’s not what happened to Nielsen on Tuesday night. Protesters could have confronted Nielsen inside her workplace or outside the restaurant on the public sidewalk, but instead, they chose to invade her during a private dinner in order to send the message: “You’re not safe here — or anywhere — so long as you think that way.”

If feminists think this behavior is justifiable, where do they draw the line? Are Republicans justified in harassing House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi during a private dinner because of her unrelenting support for sanctuary cities? How about Bill and Hillary Clinton, whose administration got us into this mess in the first place. Do they deserve to dine alone?

Cheering on and encouraging mob rule is not just bad politics. It’s bad for civil society. No matter how egregious the situation, we don’t teach our children that it’s ever acceptable to bully others. So it’s strange feminists would change the standard and argue the opposite — that bullying is justified, so long as you have the right reason.

Victimhood culture will tear us apart

Culture and identity have become the main ideological battle grounds of our era, where once they were class and the economy. The arguments are now spooling out terminology faster than the general public can learn it: we have ‘mansplaining’, ‘whitesplaining’ and ‘straightsplaining’ (describing, variously, a man, a white person, or a heterosexual explaining something to a woman, a person of colour, or a non-heterosexual in a laborious and patronising way).

There are accusations of ‘microaggressions’ (small incidents of disrespect that accumulate over time) and of ‘slut-shaming’, ‘fat-shaming’ and ‘body-shaming’ (attempts to make someone feel bad about their sexual behaviour, weight or body). To add to ‘sexist’ and ‘racist’, which have long been common currency, a person can be ‘ableist’, ‘Islamophobic’, ‘transphobic’ or ‘whorephobic’ (prejudiced against disabled, Muslim, trans people or sex workers). The aftermath of incidents covered by ‘trigger warnings’ (alerts to upcoming content that could reawaken previous traumas) might require ‘safe spaces’ (welcoming areas where one will be sheltered from any form of possible distress, including dissenting opinions).

Those, however, who openly oppose the growing reach of ‘political correctness’ (over-policing of speech and thought in the proclaimed service of social equity and diversity) have made counter-accusations of ‘snowflake’ (one who believes themselves to be unique and precious but disintegrates easily) and ‘crybully’ (one who wields their alleged victimhood as a means of dominating and intimidating others.)

In the eyes of sceptics, ‘social justice warriors’ (those who vigorously proclaim their commitment to eradicating perceived oppression) will be accused of ‘virtue-signalling’ (making public statements with the intent of placing themselves on a higher moral plateau).

Then, every so often, to add to this confusing mix, a new word appears, such as the left-wing slur ‘gammon’ (used to describe older, white right-wing men who are pink in the face, ideally with outrage at ‘political correctness’.) There will then be a flurry of newspaper articles and impassioned debate on whether such a word is useful, funny, or prejudiced and whether you can be guilty of racism against all races or only non-white ones.

8 signs you’re confusing YOUR truth with THE truth

1. You only read/watch what you already agree with. 

The books/blogs you read – or videos you watch – fit in with your existing worldview and serve simply to confirm your own prejudices. You deliberately stay away from anything that might challenge you. You start to unfollow people who post things on Twitter and Facebook that you disagree with. This is telling.

When we truly feel comfortable with what we believe, we can happily consider contrasting or conflicting views. If you’re so sure you’re right, then why do you shy away? There’s a chance that you’re strengthening the foundations of a belief that you’ve built upon the sand.

2.  “People who disagree with me are stupid!”

Psychologically, when we don’t want to be challenged by something, we need to convince ourselves that it is ridiculous. We need to alienate it and dispose of it. So we start using extreme words like stupid or irrational, which help us distance ourselves from the challenge. This is where terms like Magic Sky Clown and Jewish Zombie come from.

By reducing a worldview ‘ad absurdum’, we don’t need to worry about its potential truth. We wrap ourselves in protective labels.

3. You get angry with those who disagree.

You swear at or shout down people in conversation, or walk away from a discussion. You convince yourself that your anger is righteous because their viewpoint is immoral, but is that really true? Anger is what happens when we don’t feel in control and try to re-exert our own power in a situation. It’s an emotional response, not an intellectual one. It’s a sign that you’re out of your depth, that you don’t know everything.

People sure of what they believe and confident of its truthfulness tend to remain calm in conversation. “I get angry ‘cos they’re stupid!” you might say. See bullet point two…

The Danger of the”Hyper Grace” Prophetic Movement(By Jeremiah Johnson) “Prophetic ministry flowing from those called to the office of prophet under the New Covenant still has the capacity to rebuke, correct, and discipline. Does it need to be done with brokenness and the right heart? Absolutely! But for the hyper-grace prophetic movement to now teach that the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross has banned prophets from delivering prophetic words that rebuke, bring correction, discipline, and call for repentance is heresy.  Here are five key indicators that the hyper-grace prophetic movement has overtaken a church culture or movement:

1. Warning the people that there are consequences for their sin and rebellion now gets prophets labeled as “doomsday prophets”.

2. Prophetic words calling for repentance and renouncing of specific sin is labeled as “judgmental and critical”.

3. If the prophetic words are not positive and encouraging, the prophet is labeled as “operating under the Old Covenant”.

4. Prophets who cry out for holiness and consecration and live a lifestyle of prayer and fasting are labeled “legalistic and harsh”.

Floods in Assam claim 14 lives, affect 548,086 people in 719 villages in IndiaHeavy monsoon rains and floods affecting the Indian state of Assam over the past week have claimed lives of 14 people by June 19, 2018. 11 people died due to flooding and 3 due to landslides. According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 548,986 people in 719 villages of 6 districts (Nagaon, Hojai, Golaghat, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj) have been affected.

With all major rivers flowing above danger levels, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel have evacuated 8,201 marooned people from the flood-hit districts of Karimganj, Hailakandi and Cachar. The Government has opened up 437 relief camps in Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj, in which 159,652 flood-hit people are taking shelter. Threats from Within

John MacArthur, commenting on the controversies he has addressed over the years:

My observation is the same. It seems to me that a lot of energy is expended worrying about, and warning against, threats from the world, while heresies in the form of “worship” songs and the latest pop-theology books slip in unnoticed and unexamined. The sheeps’ clothing grows thinner, yet the wolves remain unrecognized.

25 Million Refugees on World Refugee Day

June 20 is recognized as World Refugee Day. There are over 25 million refugees in the world, in addition to over 3 million asylum seekers. Over half of the world’s refugees are children. In addition to these figures, 40 million people have been displaced from their homes and remain within their countries. Each day, 44,400 people have to flee from their homes.

Taken together, about 69 million people are considered forcibly displaced.

Well over half of the present number of refugees have come from South Sudan (2.4 million), Afghanistan (2.6 million), and Syria (6.3 million). Turkey, Uganda, Pakistan, Lebanon, and Iran are the top refugee-hosting countries.

Since 1975, the United States has received 3.3 million refugees for permanent settlement. This number is more than any other country in the world. Between 2001-2016, most of the refugees came from the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. In 2016, Muslims comprised 46% of those arriving (compared to 44% Christian).

In addition to providing figures, I also want to provide some clarity of definition. The media–and the populace–often provide us with an incorrect definition of a refugee. For example, when hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, those fleeing the city were labeled as refugees. Sometimes those held in border detention centers are referred to as refugees. People running from a natural disaster are called refugees.  And even worse, some churches, mission agencies, and individuals speak of refugees as anyone who has migrated to this country; thus, all cross-cultural ministry becomes refugee work.

However, a very rigid definition is given to those who are refugees. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, a refugee is:

“someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Most likely, they cannot return home or are afraid to do so.”

One does not automatically become a refugee whenever they arrive at a country’s border. Here is a summary of the process, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees:

“When people flee their own country and seek sanctuary in another country, they apply for asylum – the right to be recognized as a refugee and receive legal protection and material assistance. An asylum seeker must demonstrate that his or her fear of persecution in his or her home country is well-founded.”

The process to be recognized as a refugee often takes years.

On this World Refugee Day, let us remember the nations on the move. The refugee is the neediest of the neediest. His or her situation is dire and tragic. We must show and share the love of Jesus with them. Even though they have fled from the evils of mankind, we recognize our sovereign Lord is the Divine Maestro orchestrating the movement of the nations for His glory. He has determined where and when people will live. He does this–even through the plight of the refugee–that they should seek Him and find Him (Acts 17:26-27).

United Methodist Church Seeks to “Discipline” Jeff Sessions for Enforcing the Law — Pulpit & Pen

Attorney General Jeff Sessions quoted Paul in his defense of enforcing laws and consequences. Hillary Clinton quoted Jesus to support the violation of laws and repudiation of consequences. Albert Mohler, Russell Moore, and the United Methodist Church all have one thing in common. They all ignored Clinton’s butchering of Matthew 19:14 (as though “suffer not the little children” has anything to do with immigration policy) and instead all chose to rebuff Session’s use of Romans 13 (even though it’s perfectly applicable to immigration law). Most absurdly, Sessions may face “discipline charges” from the United Methodist Church. This may denote the first time in…well, ever, that the United Methodist Church has seen someone’s supposed sin rise to the level of discipline.


More than 600 United Methodists have signed a petition asking the church to discipline Sessions for enforcing United States Immigration Law passed by the U.S. Congress and interpreted by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. That law requires United States border patrol to separate children from their criminal parents, in the event their illicit actions require detainment and due process. The accusation against Sessions was made to pastors of Sessions’ home church in Mobile, Alabama, and his attending church in Arlington, Virginia, both of which belong to the United Methodist denomination.

Quoting Paragraph 2702.3 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline, the complaint accuses Sessions of child abuse, immorality, racial discrimination, and dissemination of doctrines contrary to those of the UMC. It reads…

While other individuals and areas of the federal government are implicated in each of these examples, Mr. Sessions – as a long-term United Methodist in a tremendously powerful, public position – is particularly accountable to us, his church. He is ours, and we are his. As his denomination, we have an ethical obligation to speak boldly when one of our members is engaged in causing significant harm in matters contrary to the Discipline on the global stage. Several Bishops and other denominational leaders have spoken out about this matter, urging Methodists to contact Mr. Sessions and for these policies to change, but we believe that the severity of his actions and the harm he is causing to immigrants, migrants, refugees, and asylees calls for his church to step into a process to directly engage with him as a part of our community

In the meantime, Democratic presidential candidate, former United States Senator, and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has enjoyed a lifelong relationship with the United Methodist Church and has received no such charges of church discipline for genocide, infanticide, gratuitous bearing false witness, or any other reasonable complaint regarding her personal behavior and her crimes against humanity and the unborn.

In fact, discipline in the United Methodist Church on account of sin is almost unheard of.

I attended a United Methodist Church in Helena, Montana on Saturday. It was an “anointing ceremony” for the Big Sky Pride Parade, and included several homosexual ministers. The following is a video of a transvestite leading the congregation in a communion hymn (as performed by the Sidewalk Prophets, called, “Come to the Table”) with the words changed from, “Come join the sinners who have been redeemed” to “Come join the lovers who do not judge.”

It’s safe to say that no discipline charges will be brought against this United Methodist church or any other for such gross departures from Christian orthodoxy.

On Tuesday evening Maddow read a breaking story from the Associated Press and did her best to look an emotional wreck.

Trump administration officials have been sending babies and other young children forcibly separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border to at least three “tender age” shelters in South Texas, The Associated Press has learned.

Lawyers and medical providers who have visited the Rio Grande Valley shelters described play rooms of crying preschool-age children in crisis. The government also plans to open a fourth shelter to house hundreds of young migrant children in Houston, where city leaders denounced the move Tuesday.

Since the White House announced its zero tolerance policy in early May, more than 2,300 children have been taken from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border, resulting in a new influx of young children requiring government care. The government has faced withering critiques over images of some of the children in cages inside U.S. Border Patrol processing stations.
