July 9: Moving Forward

1 Samuel 16:1–23; James 4:1–17; Psalm 119:137–152Moving on after a person, a hope, or a dream has died can be one of the most difficult challenges of life. It certainly was for Samuel. The prophet Samuel believed that God had chosen Saul as king, but Saul failed God and His people (1 Sam 15:10–35). Now God was ready to select a new king, but Samuel was dragging his feet. Moving forward meant readjusting his expectations about the future and about God’s work in general. God called him out on his hesitancy: “How long will you mourn about Saul? I have rejected him from king over Israel! Fill up your horn with oil and go” (1 Sam 16:1).Samuel had to learn that things rarely play out the way we think they will. We inevitably end up on a different path than we planned—whether because of our own actions or because God’s route turns in a direction we never anticipated. The key is recognizing the changes when they occur and preparing ourselves for a new reality. Clinging to misguided expectations can drive us into the ground, effectively driving God’s work out of us.Unlike Samuel, Saul’s problem was not that God sent him in a new direction. Saul created his own situation when he chose a different route—he disobeyed, and God responded by taking away from Saul what was his to steward but not to own: a kingdom. Saul’s story illustrates James’ statement, “From where are conflicts and from where are quarrels among you? Is it not from this, from your pleasures that wage war among your members?” (Jas 4:1). But Saul’s ultimate responsibility did not lessen Samuel’s pain. All of us must be willing to realign our expectations. More important, we must seek to be aligned with God all along. We must move on from destructive behaviors and disobedience. Along the way, we must be mindful of the things God wants to create, and we must be ready to respond when God calls us to “Fill your horn with oil and go.”What do you think God is asking you to move on from today? What is He asking you to move toward?John D. Barry[1]

July 9 A Living Sacrifice

“… to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5).✧✧✧Every faculty you have is to be used for God’s glory. In Romans 12:1 Paul pleads with believers to present their bodies to God as “a living and holy sacrifice,” which is an appropriate and acceptable act of worship. But as someone has rightly said, the problem with living sacrifices is that they tend to crawl off the altar. That’s because sacrificial living demands spiritual discipline and constant dependence on the Holy Spirit. We as Christians aren’t always willing to do that.According to Paul, the motivation and ability for self-sacrifice are found in the mercies we’ve already experienced in Christ. In Romans 1–11 he mentions several of these, including love, grace, peace, faith, comfort, power, hope, patience, kindness, glory, honor, righteousness, forgiveness, reconciliation, justification, security, eternal life, freedom, resurrection, sonship, intercession, and the Holy Spirit. Because you’ve received all that, you should gladly surrender every faculty you have for holy purposes.“Body” in Romans 12:1 also includes your mind, for verse 2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” A transformed mind is the key to transformed behavior.Prior to your salvation, you had neither the desire nor the ability to make such a sacrifice. But because you are a new creation in Christ, you are not to “go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but … as instruments of righteousness to God” (Rom. 6:13). One practical implication of this is to abstain from sexual immorality. “Know how to possess [your] own body in sanctification and honor” (1 Thess. 4:3–4).You are a holy priest, and your priestly work begins with presenting yourself as a living and holy sacrifice. Is that your desire? Are you a faithful priest?✧✧✧Suggestions for Prayer:  Thank God for His bountiful mercies toward you. ✧ Commit this day to Him, asking for the grace to live a holy life. For Further Study: Read Romans 6. ✧ What choices do you have as a believer that you didn’t have as an unbeliever? ✧ What is the benefit of being God’s slave?[1]

Jimmy Carter Says Jesus Would Approve of Gay Marriage, Abortion — Pulpit & Pen

Former U.S. President, Jimmy Carter, said that Jesus would approve of gay marriage on Sunday. Speaking on HuffPost Live, Carter explained that the Son of God would approve of such marriages on the grounds that “it doesn’t damage anyone else.” Carter is known for his self-professed deeply-held religious convictions, and his been a Sunday School teacher in his Baptist church for many years. Carter left the Southern Baptist Convention in the year 2000 after that year’s revision of the Baptist Faith and Message (BF&M) because he believed that it treated men and women unequally. The 2000 revision of the BF&M also notated that marriage was between one man and one woman (Chapter 18), something that Carter did not complain about at the time.

Carter said on Sunday…

“I think Jesus would encourage any love affair if it was honest and sincere and was not damaging to anyone else and I don’t see that gay marriage damages anyone else.”

Carter also said that Jesus would approve of some abortions…

“I have a hard time believing that Jesus would approve abortions unless it was because of rape or incest or if the mother’s life was in danger. So I’ve had that struggle. I’ve had that struggle, but my oath of office was to obey the Constitution and the laws of this country as interpreted as the Supreme Court, so I went along with that.”

You can watch the video below.

Jesus, of course, taught the “traditional” (and Biblical) view of marriage in Matthew 19:1-12. Jesus didn’t explicitly discuss homosexual marriage for the same reason Jesus didn’t explicitly discuss leprechauns or gangster rap; the notions did not exist in Jesus’ day. However, Jesus is in complete unity with the other members of the Triune Godhead, who inspired all of the Holy Scriptures including that which was given to Moses. In other words, by the inspiration of the Holy Scripture, Jesus does explicitly condemn homosexuality through both the Scriptures inspired in the Old Testament and by those inspired of the New Testament.

If Jimmy Carter believes that Jesus is the Christ of God and that God inspired the Scriptures, he should know that based upon the immutability of God, Jesus does condemn homosexuality. In other words, Carter must not believe in the inspiration of Scripture or perhaps he does not believe in the immutability of God, or perhaps he believes in neither of those doctrines. To neglect either doctrine is to place oneself well outside of Christian orthodoxy.

Likewise, it is altogether unclear why the prohibition against murder would change because the offender’s parent happened to be a racist of pervert. “Thou shalt not murder” seems to be a pretty clear concept.”

This isn’t, however, the first time that Carter has said such things. He made these claims in 2015 as well.

Disgraced Ergun Caner Joins Robert Jeffress at “Camp Meeting” — Pulpit & Pen

Ergun Caner resigned from Brewton Parker College in Georgia after a sexting scandal and multiple adulterous relationships (including at least one with a faculty member). This is after African American students protested his presidency when he made repeated racist remarks (including saying that someone had “ni**er-di*cked” him). Then, Caner filed for divorce from his wife, with whom he had a long-term separation that he had covered up privately and publicly, and both parties accused each other (credibly) of adultery in the divorce proceedings. When he resigned from Brewton Park College due to these incidents of racism and adultery, Caner blamed his resignation on the death of his son, soliciting sympathy around the world. However, when the news broke about his forced resignation and its real reasons, most were repulsed that he would use his son’s suicide to cover up his own sins.

Before these tragic events, Caner lost two very public lawsuits against innocent parties who posted videos of his lies on YouTube (the judge dismissed his claims “with prejudice” and required him to pay the defendant’s legal fees). All of this came upon the heels of his disgraced resignation from Liberty University, which occurred after it was discovered that Caner’s entire life story had been fabricated. Caner claimed to have been born in Turkey, but he was born in Sweden. Caner claimed to have been raised in Beirut but was raised in the United States. Caner claimed to have been trained in a Madrassa by a father who was an Islamic cleric but was actually raised in the United States by his mother, who was a non-Muslim hippy, and his estranged father was an architect. Caner claimed that when he was saved he spoke broken English, but English is his only language. Caner claimed to have engaged in dozens of moderated debates but engaged in none.

Ergun Caner, like a cockroach, has survived all of this and still manages to scurry out from underneath a rock long enough to collect an honorarium for speaking at church camps and revivals.

Divorce. Adultery. Sexting. Racism. Fake life story. And yet, Caner is still around.

Caner will be speaking at the upcoming 2018 East Texas Baptist Camp Meeting. The meeting is organized by Dennis Erwin and includes speakers, Ergun Caner, Mark Thrift, Joe Author, Ronnie Barefield, and Robert Jeffress.

Jeffress, in particular, is a man of some fame. He is the pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas and is a well-known conservative commentator and Trump supporter who can ordinarily and regularly be seen on Fox News and other news outlets. You can read articles at Pulpit & Pen about Jeffress here. According to the website for the camp meeting:

Everyone is invited to join us for this special week of preaching, gospel music, and daily activities in East Texas! This year we are celebrating our 21st year with a special emphasis on evangelism and revival. Come ready for a blessing – you will not be disappointed!

The website brags that they have booked, “seasoned men of God.”

Caner certainly is seasoned. But, not like salt. A call to Dennis Erwin, the organizer of the 2018 East Texas Baptist Camp Meeting, has not been returned.

Speak every man truth with his neighbour; for we are members one of another.Ephesians 4:25 The clever proponents of evil political ideologies are spending millions to make us Americans ashamed to love our country. They use every means possible to persuade our own people that there is little left worth defending and certainly nothing worth dying for. They are building in the public mind a picture of an American as a generous, tolerant, smiling chap who loves baseball and babies, and who subscribes wholly to the doctrine of the brotherhood of man—so everything is going to be all right! From our point of view, these concepts are having their effects on the nation’s religious life, especially among Protestants.Let a man rise to declare the unique lordship of Jesus Christ and the absolute necessity of obedience to Him, and he is at once branded as a hatemonger and a divider of men.The devil has brainwashed large numbers of religious leaders so successfully that they are now too timid to resist him! And he, being the kind of devil he is, takes swift advantage of their cowardice, erecting altars to Baal everywhere! Lord, I pray that You will raise up a new generation of religious and political leaders who are full of integrity and who are not ashamed to honor You before men.[1]

‘Family Friendly’ Netflix Airs ‘Salute To Abortion’ Show As Host Michelle Wolf Declares ‘God Bless Abortions!’ — Now The End Begins

On Sunday, Netflix aired a “Salute to Abortion,” hosted by “comedian” Michelle Wolf, who closed the segment with a star-spangled, flag-waving, drum corps declaration: “God bless abortion!”

Does it really get any more disgusting than this? The only way it could would be if they did a sketch where they serve up aborted baby parts in an ice cream sundae dish, as death-loving Michelle Wolf cackles satanically as she covers the aborted baby tissue with chocolate sprinkles. Nice to know the family friendlynew direction‘ that Netflix is planning going forward after signing the Obamas to a $50 million dollar contract to produce Progressive indoctrination videos.

It is one thing to have impassioned debate between pro and anti abortion advocates, that’s something that most reasonable and intelligent people can pull off. But the utter mockery and complete disdain for human life presented by the Progressive Left, and applauded wholeheartedly by the Democrats, is something that should send a chill down your spine if you have a heart, or a brain. All I can say is that God is watching, and one day, wrongs like these will be eternally righted.

Pray for Michelle Wolf, that God will allow her time and space to get saved, and repent. Because Hell is real and fiery hot, and even baby killers like Michelle Wolf shouldn’t go there.

“And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.” Leviticus 18:21 (KJV)

The Break with Michelle Wolf | Salute to Abortions | Netflix

FROM CNS: On her weekly Netflix program, “The Break with Michelle Wolf,” Wolf used Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s announced retirement to tout abortion rights and demean pro-life Americans, with “jokes” like:

“And, I know, some people call themselves ‘pro-life’- but, ‘pro-life’ is a propaganda term that isn’t real, like healthy ice cream and handsome testicles.”

Wolf closed by marching out on stage in a majorette’s costume, accompanied by a drum corps, and a huge banner reading, “The Break’s 10th Annual Salute to Abortion.” She then threw confetti after each of the following declarations:

“Abortion, I salute you!

“Women, if you need an abortion, get one!

“If you want an abortion, get one!

“If you’re not pregnant but you think you eventually might be and want to order a future abortion, get one!

“If you’re pregnant and you want to be pregnant, don’t get one!

“It’s up to you, and it doesn’t have to be a big deal. It’s actually a great deal. It’s about $300 – that’s like six movie tickets. Movie tickets: a big deal!

“And women, don’t forget: you have the power to give life and men will try to control that – don’t let them!

“God bless abortions and God bless America!”

Wolf made national headlines and sparked outrage as this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner host, when she personally attacked White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was in the audience. source

Percentage Of Young Adults With No Religious Affiliation Has Nearly QUADRUPLED Since 1986

Percentage Of Young Adults With No Religious Affiliation Has Nearly QUADRUPLED Since 1986(By Michael Snyder) We are witnessing a religious shift that is unprecedented in size and scope in American history. With each passing year, the percentage of Americans that claim no religious affiliation is growing, and this trend is especially pronounced among our young people. If things continue to steadily move in this direction, that is going to have enormous implications for the future of our society. The United States was founded by people that were extremely committed to their faith, and now we are rapidly becoming a

nation where people are choosing no religion at all. We live at a time when there is a mass exodus from Christian churches, and while it is true that some smaller faiths are growing, the reality of the matter is that most of the people that are leaving are remaining unaffiliated. According to PRRI, if you go back to 1991 only 6 percent of all Americans were “unaffiliated”, but today that number has shot up to 25 percent… READ MORE

Deadly Japan flood leaves 100 dead, Dozens Missing and 16 feet of water in some areas

Deadly Japan flood leaves 100 dead, Dozens Missing and 16 feet of water in some areasCrews continue to search for dozens of missing individuals in southwestern Japan after days of flooding inundated entire towns, killing more than 100. As many residents returned to their flooded homes to begin the cleanup, officials said at least 80 people remain unaccounted for, many of which were in the Hiroshima area, which was slammed by floods and mudslides.

Surveying the damage to the restaurant he has owned for nearly four decades, Seiji Toda said he was shocked to see the state the business was in, covered in several feet of mud with the windows blown out. “I had never seen anything like this,” he said on TBS television, standing outside his restaurant in Hiroshima city while wearing a helmet. He says it would be impossible to clean up the mess by hand. READ MORE

Bizarre light in skies of New Jersey sparks interest and fear

Bizarre light in skies of New Jersey sparks interest and fearThe clip, captured in the skies over New Jersey, USA, shows the bizarre event in its full glory. Recorded late at night, it reveals what appears to be a light show going on in the skies. A witness claimed the strange phenomenon was like an “electrical storm” but there are no reports of the event. The video was uploaded to YouTube channel Faya World Secrets on July 5, where it has racked up more than 8,500 hits.

But it has gained a mass of popularity after being shared by well-known conspiracy channel secureteam10 yesterday. Tyler Glockner, who runs the page, speculated whether it could be a UFO or even a portal opening up. And some of his followers agreed. One comment read: “It really does look like a portal trying to open. “Or it could be a black hole. I’m not sure but it definitely looks like something trying to open to me.” READ MORE

What Happens When We Fail to Warn

Posted: 09 Jul 2018 06:19 AM PDT

What Happens When We Fail to Warn(By Dr. Michael Brown) I heard a tragic story recently, some of the very bad fruit coming from Rob Bell’s book Love Wins. (This was Bell’s hell-denying book in which he effectively announced his apostasy from evangelical faith.) In light of a growing epidemic of deception in the Church today, a deception that is making people deaf to divine warnings, it seemed that now was a good time to share the story. Earlier this year, a university student was responding to my lecture on God’s love for the LGBT community during a time of Q&A.

He tried to undermine the authority of the Scriptures and accused me of using violent language To him, any form of justice or judgment was inherently violent, and he would have none of it as a professed atheist. I subsequently learned that, just a few years earlier, he was planning to go into the ministry. He was an avid reader of the Bible. Then he read Love Wins, and it was downhill ever since. (This was according to a report from his roommate at that time.) CONTINUE

China Orders Pastors to Reveal Personal Details About Churchgoers, Report Youth Who Go to ChurchPriests in China’s Henan Province have been ordered to disclose personal information about the people attending their churches.  According to one priest in the area who has chosen to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation from communist authorities, the order handed down calls on him to gather statistics on churchgoers, particularly those who are members of poor families, UCA News reports.  Per the report,

the government is claiming that the information obtained will be used to improve how churches are managed moving forward, but the priest from the Luoyang Diocese of Sanmenxia City is skeptical. The priest suspects that there’s an ulterior motive to the order. He believes that the government could withhold subsidies from low-income families who attend churches as a way of punishing them for following and practicing their faith. READ MORE

Church Kicked Out of Building for Sign MessageA church in Indiana has been evicted from its building for placing a sign outside that read, “LGBTQ is a hate crime against God.”  Remnant Fellowship Church in Auburn put up the sign on June 27. A church member confirmed to ABC-affiliate WPTA21 that they had been forced out of the building, and wane.com quoted an Auburn resident, Tammy Kessler, as saying, “I just wanted to come and look and check the sign out and they were gone.

The sign and everything.” A local resident had called for a protest outside the church last Sunday. “It is beyond a doubt that some of us have strong feelings about this church/sign and these beliefs,” the resident, Kristin Russell, wrote on Facebook. “I want everyone who comes to come with open arms and open minds. No hate allowed. Positive, progressive, and loving signs are welcome and encouraged. Bring friends and family. Overall, I would just like the message of loving everyone despite differences to get across. READ MORE

Opioids could kill nearly 500,000 Americans in the next decade

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 06:13 PM PDT

Opioids could kill nearly 500,000 Americans in the next decadeOpioids could kill nearly half a million people across America over the next decade as the crisis of addiction and overdose accelerates. Deaths from opioids have been rising sharply for years, and drug overdoses already kill more Americans under age 50 than anything else. STAT asked leading public health experts at 10 universities to forecast the arc of the epidemic over the next decade. The consensus: It will get worse before it gets better.

There are now nearly 100 deaths a day from opioids, a swath of destruction that runs from tony New England suburbs to the farm country of California, from the beach towns of Florida to the Appalachian foothills. In the worst-case scenario put forth by STAT’s expert panel, that toll could spike to 250 deaths a day, if potent synthetic opioids like fentanyl and carfentanil continue to spread rapidly and the waits for treatment continue to stretch weeks in hard-hit states like West Virginia and New Hampshire. Archaeologists uncover gate to biblical city of ZerArchaeologists have uncovered the entrance gate to the biblical city of Zer during excavations carried out in the Golan Heights over the past two weeks, the Golan Regional Council said Sunday. In recent days, and after a year of recess, a group of 20 archaeologists from all over the world, together with director of the Bethsaida Project, Dr. Rami Arav, and under the auspices of the Hebrew Union College, Jerusalem, conducted new excavations in two different areas of Bethsaida. The ancient fishing village is mentioned

several times in the New Testament as a city where Jesus lived and where he miraculously fed a multitude of people with five loaves and two fish. Archaeologists said the size, wealth and impressive fortifications indicate that Zer was a major city. “There are not many gates in this country from this period. Bethsaida was the name of the city during the Second Temple period, but during the First Temple period it was the city of Zer,” Arav said, pointing to Joshua 19:35, which says: “The fortified towns were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnereth.” READ MORE

Mom Horrified Over What Happened To Her Young Daughter’s Avatar in Video Game

Mom Horrified Over What Happened To Her Young Daughter’s Avatar in Video GameA North Carolina mother was petrified after her 7-year-old daughter showed her a graphic sexual assault she witnessed while using a multiplayer online game creation platform called Roblox. Even worse than simply seeing the scene was the fact that is was the young child’s own avatar that was assaulted on a playground in the game, mother Amber Peterson explained in a Facebook post about her daughter’s horrific experience.

“Words cannot describe the shock, disgust, and guilt that I am feeling right now,” the mother wrote, “but I’m trying to put those feelings aside so I can get this warning out to others as soon as possible.” Petersen went on to explain that, though she was able to shield her daughter from seeing the entire scene, she can’t fathom “what kind of damage this image could have on her psyche, as well as any other child that could potentially be exposed to this.”  CONTINUE

Beth Moore Says Social Media Is ‘Producing Freaks’ and ‘Breeding Abusers’

Beth Moore Says Social Media Is ‘Producing Freaks’ and ‘Breeding Abusers’In this era of anonymous internet warriors and cyberbullies, there really is no place to retreat. That reality became glaringly obvious to evangelist Beth Moore over the weekend, when she returned to social media after a brief hiatus.  Moore explained in a brief Twitter thread Sunday how social media has become “beyond sick” and even “potentially deadly.” Like former Obama faith adviser Michael Wear told us last week, Moore said our culture must return to “civility.”

Moore was referencing James 3:6 in her final tweet. In the passage, James wrote, “The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.”  According to The Moody Bible Commentary, the tongue “is the very world of iniquity. It sets on fire the course of our life, such as provoking a broken marriage.” What we speak — and, in this case, write — has immense power. READ MORE

The world may soon witness a Category 6 hurricane

Posted: 08 Jul 2018 12:55 PM PDT

The world may soon witness a Category 6 hurricaneAs a ferocious hurricane bears down on South Florida, water managers desperately lower canals in anticipation of 4 feet of rain. Everyone east of Dixie Highway is ordered evacuated, for fear of a menacing storm surge. Forecasters debate whether the storm will generate the 200 mph winds to achieve Category 6 status.  This is one scenario for hurricanes in a warmer world, a subject of fiendish complexity and

considerable scientific research, as experts try to tease out the effects of climate change from the influences of natural climate cycles. Some changes — such as the slowing of hurricanes’ forward motion and the worsening of storm surges from rising sea levels — are happening now. Other impacts, such as their increase in strength, may have already begun but are difficult to detect, considering all of the other climate forces at work. READ MORE

LGBT-Affirming Church Takes Out Billboard: ‘God Takes Pride in You’

LGBT-Affirming Church Takes Out Billboard: ‘God Takes Pride in You’A San Diego church took out a billboard that reads, “Radically Inclusive: God takes pride in you, so do we!”  Missiongathering Christian Church, a self-proclaimed “radically inclusive” Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), bought a billboard above a popular gay bar in Hillcrest, reports say.  The church says they purchased this billboard because it’s located along the route of the San Diego LGBT+ Pride Parade.

The church hopes that people participating in the July 14 parade, which church members will be participating in, will see their church’s message and feel welcomed.  “For far too long, Christians have been known for who we are against,” Brandon Robertson, a pastor at Missiongathering, tells Fox 5. “We’re afraid of difference. We only desire to make the world conform to our image of what is right and good.” Missiongathering believes that “God’s creativity [is] expressed in various races, sexual orientations, gender identities, socioeconomic statuses, faiths and backgrounds,” READ MORE

The Other 5 Points of Calvinism — Reformed Baptist Blog

Though the 5-points Calvinism stress the sovereignty of God in salvation, they do not deny human responsibility. Yes, God is sovereign in salvation, but man is also responsible to repent and believe. And, in regards to human responsibility, there are another 5-points to Calvinism. These additional 5-points, dealing with human responsibility, are outlined by Paul in Romans 10:14-17. After explaining the doctrine of unconditional election in Romans 9, Paul, with equal celerity and force, explains man’s responsibility in salvation:

July 9, 2018 Afternoon Verse Of The Day

46:3 God, the God of your father: The self-identification of the Lord is a bit different here than at earlier times. The Lord is saying, “I am the true deity.” By adding the words, “(even) the God of your father,” the Lord identifies Himself as the God in whom Isaac had believed, even the One who had brought great blessing to Isaac. God had forbidden Isaac at a previous time to go to Egypt (26:2), and Isaac’s father Abram had had an unpleasant experience in Egypt (12:10–20). Despite Joseph’s gifts and words, Jacob feared what would happen in Egypt. Jacob’s family numbered seventy (v. 27). Out of this family, God would bring a great nation (Ex. 1:1–7). Again, God renewed His promises to Jacob (35:11).46:3 Do not fear was the same assurance given to Abraham and Isaac (Gen. 15:1; 26:24).46:4 go down with you: God promised to be with His people, even in a foreign land. Joseph will put: Jacob’s life was nearing its end. But God promised Jacob that his beloved Joseph, who he had thought was dead, would be with him at his deathbed.[1]

46:3 I am God The word for God here is el, which connects this vision with Jacob’s earlier divine encounters (31:13; 33:20; 35:1, 3). This may explain why the name “Jacob” is used for the verbal call.the God of your father The word for “God” here is elohim.I will make you a great nation This element of the divine covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob confirms for Jacob (12:1–3; 15:1–6; 26:4, 24; 28:3) that he will not forfeit the promise by leaving the promised land.46:4 I myself will go down Though this may seem obvious given God’s omnipresence, it is noteworthy in light of the notion of sacred geography—the Israelite notion that the God of Israel allowed foreign nations to be under the jurisdiction of other gods after the Babel event (see 11:1–9; Deut 4:19–20; 32:8–9).[2]

46:3 I am … the God. God repeated His assuring promises to Isaac (26:24) and Jacob (28:13–15).I will make you into a great nation. An elaboration of the covenant promise to Abraham (12:2; 15:13, 14; 18:18; cf. Ex. 1:7).46:4 Joseph’s hand shall close your eyes. A word of comfort for the aged Jacob; he would die peacefully in Joseph’s presence (50:1; cf. 15:15).[3]

These places have borne the brunt of the recent exodus…

THE REAL COLLUSION: If Russia Did ‘Hack Our Elections’ In 2016, They Did So With The Blessing Of President Barack Obama — Now The End Begins

“This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.’ ‘I understand. I will transmit the information to Vladimir and I stand with you, President Obama”

In 2018, the fake news media is absolutely obsessed with trying to prove that presidential candidate Donald Trump ‘colluded with Russia’ to affect the outcome of the election. After nearly 2 years of the draconic Mueller investigation, not one shred of evidence has emerged to prove the allegations against Trump. But there is plenty of evidence to show that former president Obama absolutely and openly colluded with Russia on a variety of fronts. The problem is, no one in the fake news media cares about that.

When President Obama was running for re-election in 2012, he had all sorts of backroom deals percolating with the Russian government, especially with his counterpart Dmitry Medvedev. An open hot mic caught this exchange that raised no flags of any kind with the fake news media.

FROM REUTERS: President Barack Obama was caught on camera on Monday assuring outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he will have “more flexibility” to deal with contentious issues like missile defense after the U.S. presidential election. Obama, during talks in Seoul, urged Moscow to give him “space” until after the November ballot, and Medvedev said he would relay the message to incoming Russian president Vladimir Putin. The unusually frank exchange came as Obama and Medvedev huddled together on the eve of a global nuclear security summit in the South Korean capital, unaware their words were being picked up by microphones as reporters were led into the room. READ MORE

Whoopsies! Did Obama really just openly whisper those sweet words of collusion with the president of Russia? Yep, he sure did. Did anyone in the fake news media care about that? Nope. Does anyone in the fake news media today remember that? Nope. Because this. TRUMP!! RUSSIA!! TRUMP!! RUSSIA!!. Rinse, lather, repeat.

That happened in 2012, and along the way all kinds of collusion between the Obama government and the Russian government took place.

FROM THE LAS VEGAS REVIEW JOURNAL: First, there was the infamous Russian Uranium One deal. Hillary approved of the sale of one-quarter of our uranium stock to Russia in return for $145 million in “donations” to the Clinton Foundation, plus, as a bonus, a $500,000 speech for Bill Clinton. Hillary sold the secretary of state’s office to the highest bidder — Russia. READ MORE

You want to talk election collusion? How about Hillary and the DNC fixing the primaries so Socialist Bernie Sanders had no chance to get the nomination. It happened, and Donna Brazile exposed the whole thing and then confessed to her role in it. How did the fake news media react to this bombshell? They duly noted it, wrote it down, filed it under ‘who really cares?’ and then promptly forgot it ever happened. Why? TRUMP!! RUSSIA!! TRUMP!! RUSSIA!!.

Flash-forward to the 2016 elections, and here we see President Obama doing nothing about Russian interference when it’s presented to him.

During the 2016 Presidential Elections, Barack Obama was informed that Russia was attempting to meddle with our fair and free election process. What did he do? Umm, history has recorded that the Commander in Chief of the most powerful nation on earth, Barack Hussein Obama, did absolutely nothing at all. He stood back and allowed it to happen. It was so bad that even the Liberal Bloomberg wrote about it.

FROM BLOOMBERG: It’s no wonder Putin thought he could meddle in the U.S. He had gotten away with everything else he tried. “I feel like we sort of choked.” That is the killer quote in into how Barack Obama responded to intelligence last year that Russia was running a sophisticated influence operation against the 2016 elections. READ MORE

Oh sure, Obama had a response in his official Statement by the President on Actions in Response to Russian Malicious Cyber Activity and Harassment posted to the White House website. But he was aiming only for the archives with that one, the reality of his proclamation was that it was nothing more than his usual pusillanimous, toothless response right in line with his ‘leading from behind‘ mantra.

Mr. Mueller, if you have anything to bring against President Trump to prove that he colluded with Russia to win the election, then bring it. But you don’t and you know you don’t, so stop wasting the time and resources of the American people with this ridiculous investigation. Why not look into collusion with Russia by the Obama administration?

If you want to investigate something worthwhile, how about investigating who killed Seth Rich? Or how about finding Hillary Clinton’s 33,000 deleted emails? Or how about investigating why so many people connected to the Clinton’s keep dying? Or how about… TRUMP!! RUSSIA!! TRUMP!! RUSSIA!!.. oh, never mind.

July 9 Differences in Foundations

Everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.… Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.—Matt. 7:24, 26Differences between wise and foolish builders are more important than the similarities. The greatest differences are the types of foundations the builders choose. One selects a solid expanse of bedrock—stable and unmovable. The other selects sand—unstable and very movable. The house built on a foundation of rock is a life that believes and obeys Jesus’ sermon and places all its hope in God. The sand, by contrast, represents paying little or no attention to the Word. The house built on that foundation is a life that relies on self-righteousness and trusts in changeable human opinions. The indicator of real discipleship is not merely hearing and professing, but believing and doing. True converts fit James’s picture: “One who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does” (James 1:25). False disciples, however, fit the other picture James paints: “merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was” (vv. 22–24).We can be assured of salvation only when we build on the rock of truth and obedience, not on the standards of human opinions and speculations.

Do you have a current undertaking—no matter how large or small—that’s tempting you to hurry up and build without spending much time on the foundation? What will every effort or enterprise suffer from if more thought is given to wallpaper than to substructure?[1]

Having the understanding darkened…because of the blindness of their heart.EPHESIANS 4:18It may shock some readers to suggest that there is a difference between being “Bible taught” and “Spirit taught.”Nevertheless, it is so!It is altogether possible to be instructed in the rudiments of the faith and still have no real understanding of the whole thing. And it is possible to go on to become expert in Bible doctrine and not have spiritual illumination, with the result that a veil remains over the mind, preventing it from apprehending the truth in its spiritual essence. Most of us are acquainted with churches that teach the Bible to their children, reinforce it with catechism classes, and still never produce in them a living Christianity nor a virile godliness.Their members show no evidence of having passed from death unto life. None of the earmarks of salvation so plainly indicated in the Scriptures are found among them. Their religious lives are correct and reasonably moral, but wholly mechanical and altogether lacking in radiance. Many of them are pathetically serious about it all, but they are spiritually blind, getting along with the outward shell of faith while all the time their deep hearts are starving for spiritual reality. It has been said that “The Scriptures, to be understood, must be read with the same Spirit that originally inspired them.” No one denies this, but even such a statement will go over the heads of those who hear it unless the Holy Spirit inflames the heart![1]

July 9 Refusing to Be Enticed

Abstain from every form of evil.1 Thessalonians 5:22Hatred of evil leads to avoidance of it. You can’t dabble with sin and avoid falling into it. Refusing to be enticed by temptation, the righteous person’s “delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night” (Ps. 1:2).You can’t pursue righteousness and at the same time tolerate evil. That’s why Paul counseled Timothy and all believers with this message: “Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Tim. 2:22).[1]

When Your Trial Seems Impossible | Biblical Counseling Coalition

All trials look different and come in various sizes accompanied with diverse amounts of pressure. Each of us, regardless of our age, spiritual maturity, relationship status, or vocation, occasionally face situational pressures that seem impossible to maneuver. In the midst of the pain in these seasons of life, the Bible provides us with hope in sundry ways. Scripture reminds us of grace that is greater in our weakness (2 Cor. 12:9), a God who is faithful regardless of the pressured circumstance (1 Cor. 10:13), a magnificent purpose for everyday living (Rom. 8:28-29), and wisdom that is generously available to us (James 1:2-5) as we seek to persevere by the wonderful power provided to us in Christ (Phil. 1:6; 4:13).

Notwithstanding these wonderful truths, there seems to be an even greater encouragement that God provides when His faithful ones face life’s most difficult circumstances. When trials seem impossible, God offers His best to each of us in the midst of the struggle. So what is it? Let’s discover what God offers through the following case studies.
