SEPTEMBER 30 WHY DO BIRDS SING?

And God created…every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21

I am thankful I have found a promise from the God of all grace that deals with the “long term” and the eternal. I belong to a body of plain people who believe the truth revealed in the Bible. These are the people who believe that God in the beginning made the heavens and the earth and all things that are therein.

Yes, these plain, believing people will tell you that God created the flowers to be beautiful and the birds to sing, so that men and women could enjoy them. We believe that God made the birds to warble and harmonize as though they were tuned to a harp.

But the scientist disagrees, saying, “It is simply biological. The bird sings only to attract a mate.”

Actually, the God who made the birds is the Chief Musician of the universe. He made the harps in those little throats and said, “Go and sing!” Thankfully, the birds obeyed, and they have been singing and praising God ever since they were created!

I praise You, Lord, for the beautiful world You created for Your enjoyment and ours. I pray that Your Spirit will move in the hearts of scientists and physicists who recognize the earthly wonders but who refuse to believe in a Creator God.[1]

SEPTEMBER 30 NOTHING BUT GOD

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

—Romans 14:12

What we need very badly these days is a company of Christians who are prepared to trust God as completely now as they know they must do at the last day. For each of us the time is surely coming when we shall have nothing but God. Health and wealth and friends and hiding places will all be swept away and we shall have only God. To the man of pseudo-faith that is a terrifying thought, but to real faith it is one of the most comforting thoughts the heart can entertain.

It would be a tragedy indeed to come to the place where we have no other but God and find that we had not been trusting God at all during the days of our earthly sojourn. It would be better to invite God now to remove every false trust, to disengage our hearts from all secret hiding places and to bring us out into the open where we can discover for ourselves whether or not we really trust Him. That is a harsh cure for our troubles, but it is a sure one. Gentler cures may be too weak to do the work. And time is running out on us. PON013-014

Lord, may I indeed live this earthly sojourn in such a way that I have no fear or dread of standing before You, giving account of my life and having nothing but You. Amen. [1]

Chinese government preparing five-year plan to conform Christianity to Socialism, Will “rewrite” the Bible

Chinese government preparing five-year plan to conform Christianity to Socialism, Will “rewrite” the BibleThe Chinese government is supervising a five-year plan to make Christianity more compatible with socialism in which there will be a “rewrite” of the Bible, a prominent religious freedom activist has told Congress. The Rev. Bob Fu, a former Chinese house church leader who immigrated to the United States in 1997 and founded the persecution watchdog organization China Aid, provided great detail during a House hearing Thursday about a plan enacted by leading state-sanctioned denominations in China to “Sincize” Christianity.

As China’s crackdown on religion has seen many house churches demolished and thousands of crosses removed from churches nationwide, Fu warned upfront that what is happening right now in China represents the highest degree of persecution for independent faith groups the country has seen in decades. “Religious freedom in China has really reached to the worst level that has not been seen since the beginning of the Cultural Revolution by Chairman Mao [Zedong] in the 1960s,” Fu told members of the House Foreign Affairs’ Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations. September 30 Daily Help

IF his dark nights are as bright as the world’s days, what shall his days be? If even his starlight is more splendid than the sun, what must his sunlight be? If he can praise the Lord in the fires, how will he extol him before the eternal throne! If evil be good to him now, what will the overflowing goodness of God be to him then? Oh, blessed “afterward!” Who would not be a Christian? Who would not bear the present cross for the crown which cometh afterwards? But herein is work for patience, for the rest is not for to-day, nor the triumph for the present, but “afterward.” Wait, O soul, and let patience have her perfect work.[1]

An Initial Exploration of the Diminishing Role of Facts and Analysis in American Public Life

Source: RAND Corporation

Why is America facing such unusual challenges? Rand found 4 major factors:

1. Increasing disagreement about facts and analytical interpretations of facts and data;
2. Blurring of the line between opinion and fact;
3. Increase in the relative volume, and resulting influence, of opinion and personal experience over fact;
4. Declining trust in formerly respected sources of factual information.

Some Things Aren’t Funny, ‘SNL’ — The Kavanaugh Family’s Pain Is One of Them

In classic fashion, “Saturday Night Live” kicked off its new season on Saturday night by using Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s emotional testimony this past Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee as fodder for its cold open.

Actor Matt Damon played the nominee (he’s seen in character in the photo above) — and he portrayed him as a hot-tempered beer lover who doesn’t “know the meaning of the word ‘stop.’”

We shouldn’t be surprised, of course.

Much of today’s pop culture offerings strip the poignancy and heartbreak out of any event or ignore it altogether, and “SNL” is one of the “best” at that (and that’s not a compliment, just to be clear).

The NBC comedy staple (though it hasn’t been funny in a long time) also likes to turn real heartbreak into comedic material that muffles outrage as it deadens compassion.

Brett Kavanaugh, his wife, his children and his parents are all truly suffering. They wear it on their faces. Christine Blasey Ford seems to be in misery, too.

You won’t see “SNL” or other liberal shows or outlets using Ford’s misery as fodder, however — and they shouldn’t.

But poking fun at her is verboten right out of the gate; first, because most media and many Americans are already on her side to the exclusion of anything Kavanaugh can say, and second, because she’s a woman — and women are to be believed, celebrated and held aloft to the exclusion of even truth and decency in today’s super-charged political environment.

Today, it is OK for kids to see and hear women say the most base, alarming things because, well, they’re women. So their voices must be heard in the perfect storm that is the #MeToo movement and after the election of a Republican president who espouses traditional values.

The theme of the “SNL” riff on Saturday night? That Kavanaugh is a big drinker with a bad temper who is too attached to his old calendars and his high school friends.

The actor in the skit portraying Kavanaugh’s wife was shown sitting behind Damon, her mouth downturned, her eyes sad as she stared at Damon as he talked.

What’s funny about that? Hearts were breaking around the country in real time as Ashley Kavanaugh’s pain played out across her face and her entire being during Thursday’s emotional testimony. For “SNL,” that pain is used to prop up punchlines.

“SNL” also set about trashing innocence.

“First of all, I showed this speech to almost no one, not my family, not my friends, not even P.J. or Tobin or Squee,” Damon said, referring to Kavanaugh’s high school friends.

Kavanaugh himself, who treasures his friends, is mocked for bringing up his calendar and his high school buddies in his testimony.

A male’s virginity was also up for derision in the cold open.

“I didn’t have sex for many, many, many years,” Damon as Kavanaugh said. “All I did was drink a lot and not think about having sex at all. I was the proudest, drunkest virgin you’ve ever seen. And everyone can relate to that.”

There was, of course, a pointed reference to how liberals believe Kavanaugh would act on the bench.

“You think I’m angry? You’re damn right I am,” Damon’s Kavanaugh raged. “But you think I’m angry now, you just wait ’till I get on that Supreme Court, because then you’re all going to pay.”

Let’s not fall for this. Let’s not laugh at things that deserve neither laughter nor our precious time.

We need to hang onto our outrage and our empathy no matter what such liberal outlets as “SNL” or others do or say. We defend the qualities of empathy and compassion in the seemingly smallest of decisions, such as turning off the television when it is warranted.

We can’t afford to squander our humanity on cheap jokes made at the expense of good people — or at the expense of their honest pain.

Christine Ford’s Body Language is Analyzed and the Results Are STUNNING

A woman claiming to be a body language expert took to Youtube, where she examined Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony before Congress.

The so-called expert claimed that Ford’s body language revealed she was being deceptive and manipulative.

Watch the video:

Here’s another video from a different body language expert, who reaches a similar conclusion on Ford’s testimony:

America’s Disgrace

by David Robertson, theweeflea:

 I didn’t mean to do it. I didn’t have the time and I was not that interested. But once I started I found it hard to stop. It was a bit like watching a train wreck, or a really bad reality TV show – you know you shouldn’t and you know it’s a waste of time – but somehow you continue. What am I talking about? The reality TV show that is the American Senates hearing into the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh.  Dr Christine Blasey Ford has accused the potential Supreme Court Judge of sexually assaulting her when he was a 17 year old at a drunken party 35 years ago.   She appeared before the Senate Judicial Committee yesterday, as did Kavanaugh.

It made for great TV drama and theatre – and was incredibly revealing of just how much trouble America is in. This was trial by media with the jury deciding on the basis of their politics and who was the best actor.   The facts are really difficult to ascertain but let me offer the following as certain.

[…]  America is in a mess. Kavanaugh was right to state that the confirmation process had become a national disgrace. He was also right to state that the Senate judicial committee Democrats had replaced “advise and consent with search and destroy”.   The politicization of the judiciary (on all sides ) is the end of the rule of law and democracy. One of the most disturbing facts to come out of this whole debacle is that millions of dollars are being spent in campaigns both for and against Kavanaugh.   George Soros, the Hungarian billionaire, has apparently given $5 million to the campaign to prevent the judge being appointed. What does the fact that a foreign billionaire can use money to influence an American judicial appointment say about the corrupt nature of American politics just now?

In the USA just now we are watching what happens when a nation loses its Christian foundations. It also loses its civilization, its law, its politics, its morality and perhaps above all, its mind.
