OCTOBER 27 BROTHERHOOD OF THE REDEEMED

To them gave he power to become the sons of God.

John 1:12

Anyone making even a quick review of Genesis will discover that God has told us more about His presence in creation and in history than about the details of human civilization.

We believe that eternity dwells in the Person of God and that the material universe came into being through God’s creation.

The first man and woman in the human race were created. They failed in their initial encounter with Satan, our archenemy. Following that, the Genesis record becomes a narrative of human failure against the abiding backdrop of God’s faithfulness.

God Himself, through the Holy Spirit, points out a universal problem: The natural brotherhood of human beings is a sinful brotherhood. It is the brotherhood of all who are spiritually lost.

But the Bible has good news. It is the revelation of a new brotherhood, the brotherhood of the redeemed! We know it in our time as the believing Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in all nations. It is a new brotherhood among men based on regeneration—and restoration!

Merciful God, I pray today for the thousands of men and women who are shackled by the chains of sin. Set them free today, Lord, by Your Sprit. Accept them as members of the “brotherhood of the redeemed.”[1]

Democratic Socialists Of America Vote To Join Anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment And Sanctions Movement, Call For Israel’s Destruction — Now The End Begins

America’s largest socialist organization overwhelmingly voted to support the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement at its biannual convention in Chicago on Saturday

What is truly on the ballot for the November midterm elections? Socialism is what’s on the ballot this November. The Democrat Party has taken a very hard turn to the Left, with many of the major candidates like Andrew Gillum and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez being hardcore Progressives and Democratic Socialists. Wanna know the worst thing about all that besides the obvious? They hate Israel and the Jewish people with a passion.

“Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.” Psalm 129:5 (KJV)

Recently, the Democratic Socialists of America, the largest Socialist group in the United States, voted to join a movement dedicated to the financial ruin of the state of Israel, that they hope will lead to it’s complete and total collapse. The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, or BDS, is dedicated to the establishment of a Palestinian state by destroying the Jewish state. Think about that when voting on November 6th.

FROM BREAKING ISRAELI NEWS: The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) conveniently held its convention on the Jewish Sabbath, when no observant Jews would be able to appear or protest.

BDS aims at crippling Israel’s economy as political protest against the “oppressive” state. It has been very successful in destroying employment opportunities for thousands of Palestinians who worked for Israeli companies that BDS targeted.

After the vote, which passed by 90 percent, was met with wild applause, the Democratic Socialists of America attendees began to chant a popular genocidal slogan of the pro-Palestinian movement, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

The slogan calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, where Israel currently sits, suggesting that the Jewish state will vanish from the map and be replaced entirely by “Palestine.” It is commonly heard at left-wing anti-Israel campus protests.

“Democratic Socialists of America declares itself in solidarity with Palestinian civil society’s nonviolent struggle against apartheid, colonialism, military occupation and for equality, human rights, and self-determination,” reads the BDS motion.

What a Palestinian “nonviolent struggle” might look like is not made quite clear by the DSA.

The DSA claims to be the largest socialist organization in the US, with 25,000 dues-paying members. As the organization admits that America is “unlikely to see an immediate end to capitalism tomorrow”, it does its best to fight the capitalist system by working to achieve “equitable distribution of resources…a healthy environment…gender and racial equality, and non-oppressive relationships”, among other goals.

Perhaps the DSA is unaware that wiping an entire country and people off the map, a vision they seem particularly excited about, could be defined by some as an “oppressive” move. READ MORE

OCTOBER 27 A KING ON A THRONE

I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

—Job 42:5-6

Yet so subtle is self that scarcely anyone is conscious of its presence. Because man is born a rebel, he is unaware that he is one. His constant assertion of self, as far as he thinks of it at all, appears to him a perfectly normal thing. He is willing to share himself, sometimes even to sacrifice himself for a desired end, but never to dethrone himself. No matter how far down the scale of social acceptance he may slide, he is still in his own eyes a king on a throne, and no one, not even God, can take that throne from him.

Sin has many manifestations but its essence is one. A moral being, created to worship before the throne of God, sits on the throne of his own selfhood and from that elevated position declares, “I AM.” That is sin in its concentrated essence; yet because it is natural it appears to be good. It is only when in the gospel the soul is brought before the face of the Most Holy One without the protective shield of ignorance that the frightful moral incongruity is brought home to the conscience. In the language of evangelism the man who is thus confronted by the fiery presence of Almighty God is said to be under conviction. KOH046-047

Lord, throughout this year I have been confronted with Your majesty. May this cause me to recognize my own sinfulness, to repent and to allow You to have the throne. Amen. [1]

Update: Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting – Number of Casualties – Suspect Identified – Update: 11 People Killed, 6 Injured… — The Last Refuge

UPDATE: 4:00pm EST Police/FBI/DOJ Briefing:  •9:54am initial call to 911; •officers dispatched 9:55am; •11 fatalities (no children); •six injuries including 4 police; •suspect used rifle and 3 handguns; •suspect Robert Bowers, no prior police contact; •suspect acted alone; •motive appears hate-crime, antisemitism.

A suspect named Robert Bowers (48) opened fire in a synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, today killing an unknown number of people. Bowers opened fire at the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue shortly before 10am.

According to an assembly of media reports, the shooter killed at least three people on the main floor of the building then went downstairs, where the congregation was gathering in the basement, and opened fire killing at least four people there.

At some point he exchanged fire with SWAT teams and injured four police officers. After being injured himself in the crossfire, Bowers surrendered to police. He is now in custody. Among the six people injured were four police officers and two congregants who are clinging to life in the hospital.

The shooter’s motive appears to be pure evil. Hatred, antisemitism, bigotry and hatred toward Jews. A man with the same name posted on the social media site Gab an hour before the shooting that he was enraged by the influx of Jewish migrants to the US and that he was ‘going in’.

Most evangelicals I know don’t seem to understand the significance of Reformation Day (October 31). Praise God for Michelle Lesley, who explains its importance in The Mailbag: What is Reformation Day? Please don’t ignore this blog post. And don’t ignore the Reformation.

Women like being in control. But, as Jessica Pigg writes in Biblical Woman, we need to make sure we’re Building for Eternity rather than for ourselves.

What does it mean to glorify God? Over on The Cripplegate, Jordan Standridge answers that question with three challenging examples. You might be surprised and intrigued by what he has to say.

Praise God for John Divito’s marvelous article, Living the Cessationist Life, written for Founders Ministry! As a former Charismatic who loves the Holy Spirit, I wish all my Charismatic friends understood these things about Him.

Maybe Leslie A’s When It’s Time to Reap hits home for me because I turned 65 last month.  But it sure wouldn’t hurt younger women to consider the Biblical wisdom she dispenses. Her Growing 4 Life blog features many helpful posts on how to live in ways that honor the Lord.

I’ve written a lot this week about the importance of thinking critically and Biblically. By writing The Brains God Gave You, SharaC of Into the Foolishness of Godencourages me that I’m not alone in seeing the need for Christians to evaluate things more thoroughly.

Living in the Greater Boston Area has familiarized me with the name of Anne Hutchinson, and I knew her theology was less than Blblical. But Elizabeth Prata really enriches our understanding of the damage a rebellious woman can do in Puritan Wives: Anne Hutchinson – Screeching usurper, or passionate devotee? And if you’re tempted to think an essay about a 17th Century New England woman has no relevance to current Christian controversies, remember that Elizabeth calls her blog The End Time for a reason. Who does Anne Hutchinson remind you of?

Go to The Domain for Truth to read SlimJim’s excellent article, Physical Beauty without Good Works is Dead. If you’re a single gal, read this as an encouragement. If you’re a mom to teenage or college age boys, have them read it. Several times. Until it oozes out of their pores! Did I mention it’s an excellent article?
