January 23 Faithful Obedience

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:1–15

Key Verse: 1 Peter 1:7

The genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Though Joseph was sold into slavery, he refused to become embittered. As a result, God blessed him through Potiphar, an Egyptian officer who purchased him. He was taken into Potiphar’s home and given great responsibility. The Bible tells us that Joseph was a successful man (Gen. 39:2). All that Potiphar had was left in Joseph’s care.

However, what happened next in Joseph’s life was certainly a test of his character and obedience to God. It is fairly common for God to test our level of obedience. One day as Joseph was going about his duties, Potiphar’s wife approached him with an alluring temptation. She wanted Joseph to commit adultery with her, but Joseph immediately recognized the error and refused her advances.

Joseph said, “How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?” (Gen. 39:9 nasb). His first thought was what such a sin would do to his relationship with God. Obedience was far more important to Joseph than a moment of physical pleasure.

Potiphar’s wife was furious and turned on him by lying to her husband. Potiphar had Joseph imprisoned. However, God was with him, orchestrating the circumstances of his life for even greater blessing.

If you are facing a situation that calls for obedience, ask yourself, Am I about to do something that will lead to my ruin or damage my faith? Faithful obedience always leads to blessing.

Precious Lord, thank You for the faith already instilled in my heart. Help me continue growing stronger each day in my spiritual journey of faith.[1]

5 Warning Signs of a Spiritual Narcissist

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1

It’s sad to say, but not everyone who claims to be Christian is really a follower of Christ. Many are simply pursuing their own agendas, be it money, fame, or political influence. These false disciples come in many shapes and forms, but perhaps none is more dangerous as the Spiritual Narcissist. A Spiritual Narcissist is someone who uses the Gospel to build themselves up while they tear others down. If left unchecked, their actions can inflict devastating harm on both Christians and non-Christians alike.

Below are 10 warning signs that you may be dealing with a Spiritual Narcissist:

Local Mother Immediately Regrets Asking For Parenting Advice On Facebook — The Babylon Bee

TALLAHASSEE, FL—Local mother Tiffany Johnson confirmed Wednesday that she immediately regretted asking for parenting advice on Facebook after her newborn baby developed a cough.

The woman requesting advice for treating a sick infant was immediately inundated with MLM sales pitches, passive-aggressive comments, and rants about “big pharma.”

“What was I thinking?” she muttered to herself as a friend from church posted a lengthy rant on “gut toxicity.” “I’ve made a huge mistake.”

Johnson scrolled through the 57 comments that had been posted so far, wondering why she had ever assumed that the internet would be a good place to seek out information. From judgmental comments suggesting she wasn’t a good mother for not using the exact same method that someone else said worked for them to off-topic diatribes about pesticides in our food supply, every comment confirmed that Johnson had done the exact wrong thing by going to Facebook for advice.

“You know what? Next time I’m just gonna call the doctor,” she muttered, shaking her head.

At publishing time, the mother had posted that she didn’t need any more input, prompting her friends and family to suggest seventeen more surefire remedies to help her daughter.

Alexander: The Leftmedia’s Lynch Mob

The Leftmedia’s ‘Hate’ Narrative Lynch Mob

“Mob of white racist MAGA boys taunts noble native warrior”? What really happened at the Lincoln Memorial and why.

“If the people are capable of understanding, seeing and feeling the differences between true and false, right and wrong, virtue and vice, to what better principle can the friends of mankind apply than to the sense of this difference?” —John Adams (1775)

Last weekend, after reading initial reports that a group of Catholic school teenagers wearing MAGA hats had a confrontation with a man described as an esteemed “Native American elder,” I gave it an eye roll. Considering the source of those reports, the usual Leftmedia provocateurs — CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post — I figured it was, like most of what they regurgitate, 10% substance and 90% fragrance.

After all, one day before this incident, mainstream media outlets had swallowed an uncorroborated BuzzFeed report hook, line, and sinker, despite the absolutely rotten reputation of the source. And they continued to saturate their cable and Internet consumers with the assertion that Trump had asked his then-personal attorney, Michael Cohen, to lie — until Robert Mueller had his spokesperson issue a rare statement refuting most of the BuzzFeed report. Just another page in the annals of the MSM’s fake-news history book.

Surely these outlets wouldn’t drop one fake news story that burned them badly only to pick up another. But they did. With so much egg still fresh on their faces, their “journalistic vision” was likely even more obscured.

Sure enough, in less time than it takes to say “Dan Rather,” the same mass media that had flooded its outlets with the BuzzFake narrative seized on the “mob of white racist MAGA boys taunts noble native warrior” hate narrative and buried its consumers in a fresh load of bovine chips.

The reason for rushing to judgement was obvious — it played right into the “white privilege” hate narrative too many Americans have been reflexively conditioned to believe. In other words, it had all the essential fixings of a great media ad revenue generator.

These kids were from a Catholic school, so the Left hates them almost as much as they hate Catholic Supreme Court nominees. (Times sure have changed since the Democrats embraced the Kennedy clan.) The students were white teenage boys, whom the Left hates. They are from the South, which the Left hates. They were in town for the March for Life, which, to the Left, completes a sort of Trifecta of Hate.

Some of them were wearing Make America Great Again hats supporting Donald Trump, whom the Left hates. Those hats symbolize the Trump administration’s extraordinary record of domestic and foreign policy achievements, which the Left hates.

Thus, the narrative on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial was a great fit for the Democrat Party’s singular political platform and agenda: “Hate Trump!” It also dovetailed perfectly with the Demo race-bait hate narrative. (Last week I wrote about the contrast between that hate narrative and the harmony narrative promoted by Martin Luther King.)

Of course, the “mob of white MAGA boys” hate narrative propagated by all the Leftmedia outlets was a lie — an abject and incontestable lie. Unfortunately for these teens, there was no special prosecutor standing in the gap to set the record straight. There was only a rapidly growing social-media lynch mob ready to hang them for their crimes against humanity.

So let’s review the making of this mass-media-generated public hysteria.

There were more than 100,000 people in DC last Friday for the March for Life. Many were high-school and college students. The adult leaders of the Covington, Kentucky, Catholic High School had instructed the boys to meet at the Lincoln Memorial at the conclusion of the march. The boys gathered there and waited for their buses, which had been delayed by road closures.

Waiting for their bus, they were confronted by a group of radical black supremacists, members of a hate group that calls itself the Black Hebrew Israelites. For an hour before Omaha “tribal elder” Nathan Phillips stepped into the fray, the undisputed video evidence clearly shows the hateful black nationalists relentlessly hurling repulsive epithets at the boys and singling out two black Catholic students to torment. “Y’all dirty-ass little crackers, your day is coming,” they threatened.

The white Catholic students did not interact with the black agitators and instead surrounded their black classmates to protect them. (I had a run-in with this crew in Baltimore last year, and their hateful racist rhetoric was the real “hate” story here.)

As this confrontation unfolded, a group of Native Americans participating in the Indigenous People’s March, Phillips among them, then approached the boys, some shouting, “White people, go back to Europe! This is not your land!”

Phillips, himself a separatist radical protester with a history of fake confrontation claims, walked toward the boys banging his drum. He singled out one student, 15-year-old Nick Sandmann, and got within inches of the boy’s face, chanting loudly at him and banging his tom-tom drum.

Phillips claimed, “They were in the process of attacking these four black [Hebrew Israelites]. These young men were beastly and these old black individuals was [sic] their prey, and I stood in between them and so they needed their pounds of flesh and they were looking at me for that. … Here this young guy doesn’t even see me as a human being.”

So Phillips insists he was coming to the defense of the black supremacists, who had been screaming insults at the teenagers for an hour. Ironically, he also claimed the group of Catholic teenagers “looked like a lynch mob,” which is precisely what Phillips’s lies created.

Sandmann, whose account is clearly backed up by video recordings, was confused and shaken by the aggression of now a second group of agitators, so he stood still smiling at Phillips.

Covington Catholic High School chaperone Jill Hamlin summed up the incident: “We were all just gathered on the steps. We had obviously heard the horrific insults that were thrown at our children by the black Hebrew Israelites. … I don’t know why Nathan Phillips chose Nick Sandmann. I think he would have targeted anyone but maybe it was because Nick Sandmann had the courage to look this man in the face and he tried to diffuse the situation by not reacting, by standing there respectfully.”

Phillips eventually walked away, and the confrontation would have ended there, except members of the Phillips party sent Leftmedia outlets photos and short video clips of the event, giving an entirely different narrative — one they could turn into a national story. Virtually every MSM outlet reported that this group of white kids was mercilessly mocking and harassing a Native American tribal elder.

Phillips was quick to respond to the MSM feeding frenzy with his “narrative” — and he fed these outlets just what they wanted to hear. He told MSNBC that the boys were an “ugly mob.” He told CNN and other outlets, “This young feller put himself in front of me and would not move. … I heard them saying, ‘Build that wall. Build that wall.’ … What I was witnessing was just hate.”

But not one second of the video evidence supports any of Phillips’s spurious claims.

That notwithstanding, and having willfully ignored the journalistic obligation to corroborate Phillips’s remarks, The New York Times alleged that the boys had “mobbed” him. Soon, WaPo, CNN, ABC, NBC, and their co-conspirators were running with that Fake News narrative.

Within hours of the initial reports, the Covington Catholic High School and its Kentucky diocese shamefully issued a joint apology to elder Phillips, noting, “This behavior is opposed to the Church’s teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person.”

It was the joint apology that gave me pause to reconsider my initial reaction, thinking the reports might be correct. And then National Review joined the condemnation, prompted, I’m sure, by the official apology.

NR published a scathing rebuke, “The Covington Students Might as Well Have Just Spit on the Cross,” in which its deputy managing editor, Nicholas Frankovich, declared, “They mock a serious, frail-looking older man and gloat in their momentary role as Roman soldiers to his Christ.” He continued, “‘Bullying’ is a worn-out word and doesn’t convey the full extent of the evil on display here.”

But once questions about the prevailing Leftmedia narrative began to surface, NR removed the article and social-media condemnations from other NR principals. Then the publication replaced it with pieces entitled “Nathan Phillips Lied. The Media Bought It” and “Upholding a Narrative Backfires on the Mainstream Media.”

To NR’s credit, both the editorial board and Frankovich published apologies. The editorial board noted: “In this business all we can do is own up to mistakes when they happen. We apologize to our readers and especially to the Covington students, who didn’t need us piling on.”

Furthermore, NR’s Molly Powell later called out the black supremacist who assailed the Catholic boys: “If you watch the nearly two-hour YouTube video … you will see the black men, all adult, hurling insult after insult at the students, for well over an hour.”

Of course, Trump-hating neo-con Bill Kristol, editor-at-large of the recently defunct Weekly Standard, removed without apology his disgraceful social-media post that asserted, “The contrast between the calm dignity and quiet strength of Mr. Phillips and the behavior of the #MAGA brats who have absorbed the spirit of TrumpISM — this spectacle is a lesson which all Americans can learn.”

At present, there have been no retractions or apologies from The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, and the rest of the Leftmedia lynch mob, all of which slandered the Catholic school boys with their reports. Not one apology; nothing; silence. That is to be expected.

But in a WaPo “Acts of Faith” article about the Hebrew Israelites, Sam Kestenbaum concedes they “may actually be at the center of a roiling controversy that has gripped the nation in recent days.” He adds, “A longer video soon bubbled to the surface, widening the lens. It showed how a group of half a dozen Hebrew Israelites had, in fact, been goading and preaching at both the Native Americans and high schoolers, using profanity and highly provocative language.”

And NBC Today is taking heat from its Leftmedia cadres for interviewing Sandmann and allowing him to tell his side of the story. Cohost Savannah Guthrie asked Sandmann, “Do you feel from this experience that you owe anybody an apology? Do you see your own fault in any way?” He responded, “As far as standing there, I had every right to do so. I was not disrespectful to Mr. Phillips. … I respect him. I’d like to talk to him.”

The Leftmedia’s narrative worked like a charm — until it didn’t. Veteran journalist Brit Hume, when asked about the MSM’s handling of this incident, replied, “Appalling. What’s so striking about this [is that] it’s a phenomenon we have seen over and over again.”

Recall the shameful comment by leftist columnist Evan Thomas after the media persecuted the Duke Lacrosse team: “The narrative was right, but the facts were wrong.”

It amounts to what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defined as a “wrap-up smear“: “You make up something. Then you have the press write about it. And then you say, ‘Everybody is writing about this charge.’ It’s a tool … to just have [the media] talking about what you want them to be talking about.”

There has also been no apology to the boys from the Covington school and diocese, though I note Catholic leadership has been slow to apologize to boys suffering abuse in the past.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to Robby Soave, associate editor with Reason magazine, who thoroughly documented how the media wildly mischaracterized the incident, including almost two hours of video debunking the MSM narrative. Soave notes, “This is shaping up to be one of the biggest major media misfires in quite some time.” (At least since the BuzzFeed misfire a day earlier.)

The young man at the epicenter of the false narrative, Nick Sandmann, released a statement explaining his perspective on the events, and the video footage clearly backs his account. He says, “The [black] protesters said hateful things. They called us ‘racists,’ ‘bigots,’ ‘white crackers,’ ‘faggots,’ and ‘incest kids.’ They also taunted an African-American student from my school by telling him that they would ‘harvest his organs.'” He added, “[I was] mortified that so many people have come to believe something that did not happen — that students from my school were chanting or acting in a racist fashion toward African-Americans or Native Americans. I did not do that, do not have hateful feelings in my heart and did not witness any of my classmates doing that.”

Meanwhile, a mudslide of leftist hatred had all but buried Sandmann and the other students.

Predictably, CNN led that charge, with Ana Navarro declaring the boys were “racists” and “a— wipes.” Keith Boykin said, “The MAGA-hat wearing Covington Catholic High School students mocking Elder Nathan Phillips at the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington are direct descendants of the white privilege that empowered white kids to mock Elizabeth Eckford at Little Rock Central High School in 1957.” Legal analyst Bakari Sellers said, “[Sandman] is a deplorable. Some people can also be punched in the face.” Former CNN commentator Reza Aslan followed, “Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid’s?” (Memo to Sellers and Aslan: Come take a swing at this face…)

Disney producer Jack Morrissey said the boys should be killed, posting a photo of blood spewed from a wood chipper under the caption, “MAGAkids go screaming, hats first, into the wood chipper.”

Typical of celebrity Twitter responses was that from Trump hater Kathy Griffin, who insisted the kids names should be published so they can be targeted for retribution. “I want NAMES,” declared Griffin. “Shame them. If you think these f—ers wouldn’t dox you in a heartbeat, think again. Names please. And stories from people who can identify them and vouch for their identity.”

According to a Twitter spokesperson, “Posting a person’s private information without their express permission is a direct violation of the Twitter Rules,” but don’t hold your breath waiting on Griffin’s social-media accounts to be pulled down.

Others pilled on.

“Saturday Night Live” writer Sarah Beattie said that she will have sex with “whoever manages to punch that MAGA kid in the face.” Here is a sample of other celebrity knee-jerkers… Alyssa Milano: “The red MAGA hat is the new white hood.” Billy Crystal: “The kids parents must be so proud.” Shaun King: “I am so deeply grieved and angry by this as young kids in MAGA hats surrounded and mocked a beloved Native American elder yesterday.”

Laughably, Massachusetts senator and notorious Native American impersonator Elizabeth Warren insisted, “Omaha elder and Vietnam War veteran Nathan Phillips endured hateful taunts with dignity and strength, then urged us all to do better.” (Phillips is probably one of her relatives.)

On the subject of Phillips’s military record? That’s as genuine as Warren’s Native American heritage claims. Phillips is not a Vietnam War veteran.

In his CNN interview Sunday, he twice claimed, “I’m a Vietnam veteran.” He had previously claimed, “I’m what they call a recon ranger. That was my role.” Those are both lies. But Phillips, who enlisted as Nathan Stanard, was a private for a couple years, stationed in Nebraska and California as a refrigerator mechanic. His record indicates he was AWOL in both locations.

But he makes no effort to correct the record in the media echo chamber.

UPI: “laughing and chanting at Vietnam War veteran Nathan Phillips…” Washington Post: “Phillips, an Omaha tribe elder who fought in the Vietnam War…” Slate: “Nathan Phillips, a Vietnam War veteran…” Huffington Post: “Phillips served in the Vietnam War…” TMZ: “A mob of MAGA hat-wearing teenagers swarmed around a Native American Vietnam veteran…” Even a GoFundMe appeal notes: “Native American Vietnam War Veteran Nathan Phillips was mocked and harassed…”

Finally, the student most maligned by the Fake News narrative, Nick Sandmann, has invited Nathan Phillips to meet for a conversation about the incident. But Phillips rejected the boy’s offer, saying, “It’s not the right time. … He stole my narrative.”

As for the impact that false narrative has had on the kids at Covington and their families, Jim Wilson, who was a chaperone for the DC visit, said, “The schools slogan is, ‘A spirit that will not die.’ They are embracing that.” But the death threats keep coming.

As for the Leftmedia talkingheads, if they wonder why so many Americans dismiss their biased news narratives, they need look no further than this disgraceful, slanderous “news.”

Fake news has been around in one form or another since Gutenberg invented the printing press. In 1710, Irish essayist and cleric Jonathan Swift wrote in his work The Examiner, “If a Lie be believ’d only for an Hour, it has done its Work. … Falsehood flies, and the Truth comes limping after it; so that when Men come to be undeceiv’d, it is too late.”

In more contemporary parlance, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting its boots on.” And indeed, this one did.

Jesus Calling by Sarah Young: A False Jesus? — Christian Research Service

Marcia Montenegro
Southern Evangelical Seminary & Bible College

“The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.” Psalm 19: 8, 10

Jesus Calling, a devotional by Sarah Young, has multiplied into a publishing empire with offerings of Jesus Calling editions for teens and for children, calendars, editions with special leather covers, accompanying journals, a Jesus Calling Bible Storybook, and even a Jesus Calling Devotional Bible.

In the first half of 2013, this book outsold the controversial bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey. According to Publishers Weekly in 2014, Jesus Calling had “sold 14 million copies in its many iterations — calendar, smartphone app, children’s book.”

So could there possibly be anything amiss with this wildly successful Christian devotional?

The first noticeable thing looking through the book is that it is written as though Jesus is speaking the words. Jesus giving advice in first-person language is certainly not the normal devotional format and sets this apart from most devotionals. The logical question is: how did Young come up with these words?

There are three major issues that should be examined: The claim that Young received the words directly from Jesus; Young’s admission that a primary influence on her was the book, God Calling, by “Two Listeners;” and, finally, examining some of the messages in the book allegedly from Jesus.

A Few Words on the 10th Anniversary Edition

It needs to be noted that in the introduction to the latest edition of Jesus Calling, the 10th Anniversary Edition, removed from the original edition’s introduction was Young’s references to the book, God Calling, some of Young’s words about hearing from Jesus were altered and removed, and also changed were some of the words from Jesus in the devotional. No explanation was given for this, and no references to the original claims were mentioned by either author or publisher.

President Donald Trump Sends Letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi – UPDATE: Pelosi Responds…. — The Last Refuge

President Donald Trump sends a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi regarding concerns over the State of the Union and the temporary government shutdown.   UPDATE: Speaker Pelosi responds; revokes initial invitation; refuses to call for joint session.

Dear Madam Speaker:

Thank you for your letter of January 3, 2019, sent to me long after the Shutdown began, inviting me to address the Nation on January 29th as to the State of the Union. As you know, I had already accepted your kind invitation, however, I then received another letter from you dated January 16, 2019, wherein you expressed concerns regarding security during the State of the Union Address due to the Shutdown. Even prior to asking, I was contacted by the Department of Homeland Security and the United States Secret Service to explain that there would be absolutely no problem regarding security with respect to the event. They have since confirmed this publicly.

Accordingly, there are no security concerns regarding the State of the Union Address. Therefore, I will be honoring your invitation, and fulfilling my Constitutional duty, to deliver important information to the people and Congress of the United States of America regarding the State of our Union.

I look forward to seeing you on the evening on January 29th in the Chamber of the House of Representatives. It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!

Sincerely,

Donald J. Trump

January 23 Experiencing God’s Presence

Scripture reading: Philippians 1:1–30

Key verse: Philippians 2:13

It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

In the award-winning movie Chariots of Fire, Eric Liddell remarked that he felt God’s pleasure when he ran. Enjoying our relationship with Christ, or feeling His pleasure while we work and live, is not simple, but certainly possible.

You can enjoy God as you watch Him work through your circumstances (Phil. 1:12; 2:13). Troubling situations can overwhelm us for short or extended seasons. Handling them with an optimistic perspective that God is somehow at work for good is the way to live above difficulties. Trust Him to use your situations for eventual good, as foreboding as they may appear.

Enjoy God as you live under His grace, not law. You don’t have to perform to please God. You already are pleasing to Him. Living under grace severs the legalistic mesh of “I must do this” or “I should do that” to gain God’s acceptance. You are accepted by grace, and His favor is extended to you freely. God has forgiven you. Forgive yourself.

Enjoy God by learning to live one day at a time. Worrying about the future is a great thief and one that Scripture urges you to avoid by trusting God for your daily needs. Don’t get ahead of Him. Accept His provision and daily challenges. Living under a load of anxiety rapidly depletes your joy and peace.

Christ came to give not only eternal life but abundant life as well. That is life to the fullest, and you can experience it!

Father, help me learn to live one day at a time, enjoy You, and experience Your pleasure.[1]

Progressives Announce Plan To Resume Lecturing You On Morality After They’re Finished Applauding Murder Of The Unborn — The Babylon Bee

U.S.—The nation’s progressives announced Wednesday they will resume lecturing you on morality after they’re finished applauding a new law allowing more babies to be murdered that was passed in New York yesterday.

“Usually we like to lecture people to do better at following our movement’s ever-shifting moral compass every day,” said one woman in Manhattan. “But we’ll take the day off so we can spend a few minutes and celebrate this great new law that lets mothers kill their babies without consequence.”

“I mean, more easily than they already could, of course,” she quickly added.

Progressives stated they would be lecturing you on topics ranging from social and economic justice to climate change and fracking. But most of all, they’ll be focusing on lecturing you on healthcare, especially for the nation’s babies and children.

“Oh yeah, we’re gonna go all-in on talking about how compassionate we are, pushing for healthcare for all,” said one man in Austin, Texas. “We’re the true pro-lifers, advocating for other people to pay for your healthcare. But first, I’m gonna take the day and loudly celebrate this most recent decision allowing more unborn babies to be murdered. Tomorrow, I’ll get around to the lecture.”

McConnell Defends Covington Kids, Shames Lying Media From Senate Floor (VIDEO) — The Gateway Pundit

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) defended the Covington teens and shamed the lying media for their smear campaign against the children.

McConnell took to the Senate floor Wednesday to shame the despicable media for running with a selectively edited video of the Catholic teens in order to digitally lynch innocent children.

McConnell, who is also from Kentucky, took a stand and defended the pro-life teens who traveled from Kentucky to DC to participate in the March for Life.

“Unfortunately for the students of Covington Catholic High School, their participation has resulted in threats on their lives,” McConnell said.

The Senate Majority Leader then hammered the lying media and said, “Far left activists and members of the national and state media isolated a very few seconds of video footage from any shred of context and many decided it was a time to attack and denigrate these young people.”

McConnell took a shot at Democrat Congressman Yarmuth, who previously tweeted he wanted to ban teenagers from wearing MAGA hats. After several hours of backlash, Yarmuth claimed he was just ‘joking’ over his calls to suspend the 1st Amendment.

McConnell continued, “In a matter of hours, these students were tried, convicted and sentenced by media where accuracy is irrelevant and the presumption of innocence does not exist.”

“When the rush for headlines take precedence over the facts mistakes are made and our rights as Americans are put at risk.,” McConnell concluded, adding, “This trend is particularly troubling when young people are involved.”

VIDEO:

While many in the media did offer apologies to the students, many, including newly-elected Congresswoman Ilhan Omar continued the attacks on the children days after the media lies were debunked.

Attorney Robert Barnes gave the left-wing media sycophants and celebrities 48 hours to retract their libelous statements against the Covington teens or face lawsuits.

Franklin Graham on Covington: Media ‘feeding divisions’

Evangelist Franklin Graham

Citing the misreporting of the Kentucky Catholic schoolboy controversy, famed Christian evangelist Franklin Graham says the biased establishment media are “feeding divisions” in the country.

They should, instead, be “accurately researching and reporting the news,” he wrote Wednesday on Facebook.

“There are lessons to be learned from what happened to Nick Sandmann,” he said of the Covington Catholic High School student who was confronted Friday at the Lincoln Memorial by a Native American activist chanting and banging on a drum. “I thought this young man showed a lot of maturity in a very tense situation, and I applaud him for that.

“However, because of the media’s biases and false, slanted reporting, he received physical threats and even death threats, and their school had to be closed yesterday due to security concerns.

“Let’s pray for Nick and the other students at his school. And pray for our country which has become so divided,” Graham wrote.

“I lay much of the blame at the feet of the media for feeding the divisions and pushing their own agendas rather than just accurately researching and reporting the news,” he said.

WND columnist Andy Schlafly noted Sandmann was  participating in the 46th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., after riding the bus all night from Covington, Kentucky.

Despite the grueling 36-hour trip to D.C. and back, the boys were in high spirits, and their faces were ruddy from a day outside in the winter cold.

As they waited patiently at their designated pick-up location for the overnight bus back to Kentucky, the boys were rudely accosted by a group that even the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center has condemned as “racist” and “black supremacist.”

The aggressive protesters, who call themselves Black Hebrew Israelites, taunted the boys for nearly an hour with vile insults against them and their Catholic religion. The boys were singled out because they were white, Christian and wearing President Trump’s favorite hat.

Anti-Catholic taunts peppered the inhumane heckling, which has been under-reported but can be found online. Had those same insults been lobbed against any other ethnic or religious group, liberals would have defended the students.

The boys “turned the other cheek” throughout the unexpected encounter. Eventually, they asked their adult chaperones for permission to sing their school cheers as a break from the protesters’ profanity.

Despite the vile insults hurled at them, the young men admirably remained polite and peaceful in response. Then an Indian “elder” invaded their space and began beating his war drum right in the face of one of the high school students, who held the Indian’s gaze with a pleasant, peaceful smile.

To describe the behavior of the drum-beater as impolite would be an understatement. If he was merely trying to defuse the situation, as he claimed later, why didn’t he beat his drum in the face of one of the anti-Trump instigators?

Schlafly concluded: “The ultimate injustice was then inflicted by the liberal media, which excoriated the boys nationwide. Anti-Trumpers savaged the boys and their families on social media, to the detriment of the entire Covington Catholic High School including students who were not even there.”

Among those not fooled by the media reports was President Trump, who said, “Nick Sandmann and the students of Covington have become symbols of Fake News and how evil it can be.”

A study reported by the Daily Caller confirmed the media’s ideological bias, concluding that the major broadcast news networks continued to give Trump significantly negative coverage throughout the second year of his presidency.

“The Media Research Center analyzed news coverage of the Trump administration on ABC, CBS and NBC’s evening news broadcasts and found that the president received a stunning 90-percent negative coverage in 2018,” the Daily Caller said.

“The Trump administration was by far the media’s favorite story of the year, accounting for 28 percent of their airtime — and out of Trump-related stories, the media chose to most often focus on anything related to allegations of Russian collusion.”

The report said the establishment media’s “constant attacks on Trump in 2018 were a continuation of its incessantly negative coverage in 2017, during which the president also suffered 90-percent negative coverage versus 10-percent positive coverage.”

However, MRC pointed out, the media’s own bias appeared to have little affect on the public’s feelings about the president.

In the Review-Journal in Las Vegas, columnist Victor Joecks wrote that the bias was not subtle in coverage of the March for Life, which drew in excess of 100,000 people.

“ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, the New York Times, CNN and MSNBC didn’t have a single story about the March for Life on their homepages Friday around noon Pacific. To its credit, the Washington Post did. Broadcast news gave the March for Life a scant 58 seconds of coverage.

“Contrast that with the media coverage of the Women’s March, which advocates for a variety of leftist causes, on Saturday. Its organizers submitted a National Park Services permit estimating the crowd size at 10,000. … Actual attendance may have been ever lower.

“Each of the news sites listed above had at least one story on the Women’s March on its homepage Saturday afternoon. Most had multiple stories. The same broadcast news shows that all but ignored the March for Life spent more than 14 minutes covering the Women’s March.”

He described the media narrative of the incident involving the Covington students.

“A group of Catholic high school boys wearing MAGA hats who had attended the rally were accused of harassing a group of African-American men. Nathan Phillips, a Native American, told the media the boys were going to attack those men and that the boys had surrounded him. This was a narrative – white, Christian, pro-life Trump supporters are horrible racists – the media are very interested in. Network news spent more than 19 minutes covering that incident.”

Later, however, longer videos emerged showing that the media story “wasn’t just wrong but backward.”

“The African-American men, who belong to an obscure religious sect, had verbally harassed the boys, calling the ‘crackers,’ ‘school shooters’ and gay slurs. Video shows Phillips walking into the middle of the boys, not being swarmed.”

Trump Tells Pelosi He Will Deliver State Of The Union Speech As Planned

President Trump has rebuffed Speaker Pelosi’s politically-charged threat to delay his speech due to the shutdown, saying in a letter that he plans to deliver the State of the Union Address at the House chamber as planned on Tuesday as scheduled (accepting an invitation that Pelosi had sent earlier in the year).

Pelosi had suggested Trump consider delaying the speech if the shutdown continued, citing security concerns because Secret Service agents and Department of Homeland Security staff aren’t being paid during the shutdown.

However, both have reassured Trump that security will not be a problem and so he sent the following letter to the California Democrat:

So what will Nancy do next? Politico’s Jake Sherman notes that…

Or there are alternatives…

The Law is Your Friend in Christ: A Warning to Flee from Antinomianism — Founders Ministries

In my previous post, I stated that there are two major two heresies in the church: antinomianism and legalism. In this post, I will focus on how antinomianism affects various relationships within the church and why we must repent faithfully from all traces of antinomianism for the sake of Christ. Antinomianism is generally defined as being against God’s law, but this definition only describes the symptom of an even greater error. When believers set their hearts against keeping God’s law, they are failing to see the goodness of God in giving His commandments. Therefore, the heart of antinomianism is a failure to see that God is good and that everything He gives to His children is good.

Antinomianism manifests itself in two main ways within the church. First, it manifests itself in theological antinomianism, which in many cases denies the use of God’s moral law in the life of the Christian. The second manifestation is practical antinomianism. This is when professing believers dangerously live a “loose” Christian life by either circumventing their need to keep God’s commandments or flat out ignoring the importance of keeping the commandments of God. Antinomianism can be very difficult to see because much of it is a result of sins of omission, but we must seek to find all traces of antinomian tendencies within ourselves, as well as in those whom we consider near to our hearts.

1. Flee Antinomian Marriage. There is no closer bond on earth than that of a man and woman in marriage. A marriage that is lived for the glory of God is one of the best experiences a believer can enjoy. One of the most Christ-like things a spouse can do for the other is to love their soul by lovingly encouraging their obedience to Christ’s good commandments. This is because the end goal of a marriage is to reflect Christ and the Church (Eph 5:25-33). Therefore, our marriages are ultimately not about us. This, coupled with the goal of each individual Christian to be like Jesus (Rom 8:29), means that we must labor for the glory of God to faithfully give instruction to a spouse who fails to keep God’s commandments. This is never to be done in a “holier than thou” manner, for anything that we can point to as good in us comes from God. We must also remember that a spouse faithfully keeps God’s commandments when he or she understands the goodness of God. Therefore, husbands and wives should hold out God’s good character and grace before one another in love.

For instance, if a husband is not consistent in disciplining his children according to the Scriptures, he’s failing to see the goodness of God, that God disciplines those He loves, never harshly or out of anger, but always out of compassion for His children. His wife should encourage him and set Christ’s grace and love before him with a reminder that his Father in heaven disciplines him in love. Spouses must practice faithful obedience to God, under grace, and subsequently encourage it in one another. Sanctification is a result of God’s Spirit working with God’s law in the believer enabling faithful and true Christian obedience.

2. Flee Antinomian Parenting. All Christian parents are charged by God to disciple their own children (Eph 6:1-3). Moralism is a legalistic means of parenting, but on the other side of the spectrum, some parents completely ignore God’s law in parenting. Our heavenly Father never excuses sin. He is patient and longsuffering, but He is never derelict in His Fatherly duties. God disciplines all of His children from a heart of love because He cares for our souls. He gives us commandments because He knows that it is better to keep His rules than to follow the world (Heb 12:7). The remedy for the antinomian is the same for the legalist: the grace of God. Paul tells us in Titus 2:11 that “grace instructs,” meaning that its God’s grace that teaches us to obey His good law.

God the Father is never harsh or sinfully controlling of His children. He is gracious in His actions towards us in constantly extending mercy for shortcomings that cause us to trust Him and His words to us. His good character compels true loving and joyful obedience to His commandments. Christian parents are to follow the pattern of their heavenly Father.

3. Flee Antinomian Church Life. Like legalism, antinomianism threatens the life and health of any local church. Paul condemns public gross sin at Corinth and implores that all unrepentant sin be addressed by the church and disciplined (1 Cor 5:13). Antinomianism is best addressed in the context of true Christian fellowship. In corporate fellowship, the elements of worship are means of grace that nurtures and strengthens our faith in Jesus.

A right preaching of the law and gospel every Lord’s day informs the mind and encourages the heart to live balanced Christian lives that seek to obey God’s law, understanding that Jesus has kept the law perfectly and that the source of life is found in Him alone.

Singing with the saints in corporate worship is a foreshadowing of the heavenly songs that we will offer to our God in glory, encouraging us to press on in obeying God and not growing weary in doing good.

The Lord’s supper is,” as Michael Horton said, “a means of grace for the weak, not a reward for the strong,” [1] and when received by faith, we are strengthened in our faith to obey God’s law.

Also, when we regularly fellowship with one another in each other’s homes, we can create a trust and openness with one another that makes confessing our sins, for the sake of accountability and encouragement, more comfortable. Practical antinomianism thrives on secrecy and a lack of accountability. Most importantly we must fellowship regularly with the Triune God in the Word and prayer, seeking to see our own sins of omission leading to antinomian practices. May we trust in God always.

4. Flee Antinomian Friendship. When antinomianism thrives within the context of Christian friendship, it may be a result of a failure to communicate the roles that two or more friends have with one another. Some have church friendships where personal sin is almost never discussed. But I am speaking here of Christian friendships where you have agreed to encourage one another in the grace of Christ and to keep one another accountable in the Lord. When keeping a Christian friend accountable, it must be communicated what that means and agreed upon by both parties.

The Ten Commandments are the standard by which Christians should keep one another accountable, not personal preferences or private convictions. Richard Barcellos says, “the law is the standard for proper conduct as defined by God for all mankind, Christian or non-Christian.” [2] We should strive to grow in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ and to keep ourselves and our friends from sin. Jesus is the best example of a friend. He encouraged His friends (Matt 16:17-19); He rebuked His friends graciously (Matt 16:23); He never lied to them (1 Pet 2:22); and He gave them what they needed for their eternal good (Heb 10:14) and temporal good (John 21:5-6). Jesus was no antinomian, He loved His friends according to grace while calling them to be holy. May we follow His example.

Final Thoughts

Let me state clearly that a failure to go to the Lord Jesus Christ and to repent quickly and faithfully affects Christian assurance of faith. For if we go on unrepentantly in our sin, what assurances do we have that we are in Christ?  Jesus is indeed the grounds for our justification, but He gives us the graces of good works as a sweet reminder that He has redeemed us from both guilt (external condemnation) and pollution (internal corruption) on our path to glory. Most importantly, we must always remember that when we sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, who propitiates for our sins, the Lord Jesus Christ.

How Does God Speak To Us? Five GLORIOUS Ways — The Blazing Center

What comes to your mind when you hear the question, “How does God speak to us?”

I’m willing to bet that your answer is largely shaped by your background. If you grew up in a Charismatic church that emphasized that ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, you may think about things like prophecies. If you grew up in a conservative church with a strong emphasis on Bible preaching, you probably thought first of the Bible.

The church I grew up in evolved over the years, morphing from a primarily charismatic church to being primarily Reformed. Yeah, I know. Quite an identity change.

As you can imagine, when asked, “How does God speak to us today,” my brain goes all over the place, always on the verge of shorting out.

But what does the Bible say regarding God speaking to us today? When it comes to actually hearing the voice of God, what does Scripture tell us? God’s word, more than anything else, should inform our answer.

It should be noted that God speaks to us with varying degrees of clarity, depending on the way he’s speaking to us. Everything must be tested against the word of God to ensure that it truly is God’s words and not some cockamamie concoction cooked up by our own brains.

So how does God speak to us today? Here are FIVE glorious ways, drawn directly from Scripture.

1. How Does God Speak To Us? Through His Son

Hebrews 1:1-2 says:

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

Throughout the Old Testament, God spoke to his people in a huge variety of ways, including through prophets, face-to-face (like with Moses), via angels, and even through a mangey old donkey (Balaam had that privilege).

All these revelations of God were limited and incomplete, only giving glimpses of God’s staggering glory. These visions of God were like looking at a mountain range through a crack in a wall. Only a limited portion of his beauty and glory could be seen.

But now God has spoken to us in a much fuller, more complete way: through his Son. Jesus Christ is God himself and he pulls back the curtain for us on what God is truly like. Jesus reveals the beautiful, breathtaking character of God in stunning clarity.

This is why Jesus said to Philip in John 14:9:

Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Every action Jesus did and every word he spoke revealed the character of the Trinity. He was literally God in the flesh, a tangible, touchable, utterly glorious revelation of God’s character. When we behold Jesus, we are beholding God himself.

How does God speak to us today? Through Jesus. If you want to know God and hear his voice, read the gospels. Savor the Savior. He is a window into heaven, of sorts, allowing us to get a clear, unobstructed view of God himself.

2. How Does God Speak To Us? Through His Word

2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

I love the phrase, “Breathed out by God.” It’s such a vivid picture of how God speaks to us through his word.

Every word in the Bible is God’s word to us. Scripture is God speaking to us, revealing himself to us, leading us in his ways.

Psalm 119:24 says, “Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors.” The testimonies of God (aka the Bible) counsel us, lead us, and guide us in the ways of God.

Writing about a time when God “spoke” to him, John Piper says:

[The experience] has increased my love for the Bible as God’s very word, because it was through the Bible that I heard these divine words and through the Bible I have experiences like this almost every day. The very God of the universe speaks on every page into my mind — and your mind. We hear his very words.

In other words, God took what was already written in the Bible and used those words to speak to John Piper. God does the same thing for me on a consistent basis, and he will for you too if you read the Bible.

How does God speak to us? He speaks through his word. If you want to hear the voice of God, simply open up your Bible and read. God is waiting to speak to you. Isn’t that a glorious thing?

3. How Does God Speak To Us? Through His Spirit

Scripture makes it clear that each of us is a temple of the Holy Spirit. In other words, the Holy Spirit actually dwells within us, just as he dwelled in the temple in the Old Testament. Isn’t that absolutely incredible? The Holy Spirit actually, truly dwells in you!

The Holy Spirit speaks to us in a number of wonderfully specific ways. As we read God’s word, the Spirit speaks to us, convicting us, encouraging us, and strengthening us. You could say that the Holy Spirit causes us to come alive to God’s word every time we read it. He hovers over the pages of sacred Scripture, setting our hearts ablaze as we read it.

I also believe that the Spirit speaks to us in more subjective ways. Have you ever felt prompted to pray for something out of the blue? That’s the Holy Spirit. Have you ever been suddenly convicted of sin? That’s God speaking to you. Have you ever felt the small (or large) push toward obeying God’s word? That’s the Holy Spirit at work.

Speaking of the impulse to pray, the great preacher D.M. Lloyd Jones said:

Always respond to every impulse to pray. I would make an absolute law of this – always obey such an impulse.

Where does it come from? It is the work of the Holy Spirit; it is a part of the meaning of ‘Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure’ (Phil 2:12-13).

In his book Experiencing God, Henry Blackaby puts it this way:

Anything of spiritual significance that happens in your life will be a result of God’s activity in you. He is infinitely more concerned with your life and your relationship with Him than you or I could possibly be.

The Holy Spirit is always active, always moving, always achieving God’s good purposes in us.

How does God speak to us? Through the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. If you want to hear the voice of God, ask the Holy Spirit to work in you. Ask him to help you be more sensitive to his subtle promptings.

4. God Speaks To Us Through Others

Ephesians 4:15 says, “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ…”

God uses other believers to speak to us. I’ve experienced this many times myself. As I’m talking with a friend, they’ll speak the truth of God’s word to me and I find myself encouraged or convicted or strengthened. It’s an amazing thing, isn’t it? God uses frail, earthen vessels like us to speak God’s word to each other.

To be clear, I’m not saying that certain people have divine authority to speak into our lives. Rather, I’m saying that as we fellowship with other believers, God often uses their words to give unique grace to us.

I think this is why Paul said, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear (Ephesians 4:29).”

Our words are incredibly powerful, and God uses them specifically to build others up in grace.

How does God speak to us today? Through the good, encouraging, upbuilding words of others. If you want to hear God’s voice, spend time hanging out with other Christians. Don’t isolate yourself or become a Lone Ranger Christian. God wants to speak to you through others.

5. How Does God Speak To Us? Through Creation

Psalm 19:1-2 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”

There is a real sense in which God speaks to us through his creation. The heavens and the earth, the galaxies and the supernovas all proclaim the glory of God. They tell us that there is a creator, that he is gloriously creative, and that he is overwhelmingly powerful.

Have you ever looked up at a starry night sky and been so stunned that you felt compelled to praise God? Have you ever had your breath stolen by a pink-hued sunrise? That’s God speaking to you through his creation. He is saying, “Behold my glory! Behold my splendor! Worship me, for I am worthy.”

Romans 1:20 puts it this way:

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.

In other words, creation loudly shouts forth certain things about God. It declares that there is a God who is eternally powerful and divine in nature. As we behold the complexity of a snowflake or the power of an exploding volcano, God himself is speaking to us.

How does God speak to us? Through the glory of his creation. If you want to hear the voice of God, simply go outside. Take a meandering hike through the country and behold the glory of God. Savor his divine attributes.

God Wants To Speak To You

Isn’t it an amazing thing that the living God wants to speak to you? Doesn’t that absolutely blow your mind? We don’t serve a passive God who is far off an uninvolved in our lives. No, we serve a God who is constantly active, constantly speaking, constantly moving in our lives.

So study and savor Jesus. Read the Bible. Respond to the Holy Spirit. Fellowship with others. Go outside. God is ready and willing to speak to you. You just need to be listening.

IT’S PARTY TIME! New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Celebrates As He Signs Reproductive Health Act Bill Authorizing Killing Of Babies Up To The Moment Of Birth — Now The End Begins

The New York Senate and Assembly each passed an expansive pro-abortion bill on Tuesday, within 90 minutes of each other. Governor Andrew Cuomo immediately signed the Reproductive Health Act into law and then celebrated by lighting the state up pink.

Just one generation ago, the world was horrified when newsreels from the Allied Forces liberating Germany shocked the world with raw moving images of Hitler’s concentration camps. People watched with jaws scraping the floor as they saw in utter disbelief the mass killing of human beings in gas chambers, ovens, and being shot in large groups. Contrast that with yesterday as New York governor Andrew Cuomo celebrated the legal mass killings of babies up to the moment of birth by lighting up New York City in pink. Let the irony of choosing the color pink, the color that represents a newborn baby girl, sink in for a moment.

“And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.” Leviticus 18:21 (KJV)

We live in a wicked age that is so ripe for judgment from God that I honestly cannot find the right words to express it. In 2019, we kill babies as a form of birth control, it’s somehow called a right, and it is demanded, and celebrated, by the very ones who should be protecting them – their mothers. Somewhere deep in the burning fires of Hell, Adolf Hitler is smiling as his evil work continues on.

Governor of New York nixes nearly all protections for preborn babies

FROM LIVE ACTION: Sitting with Cuomo as he signed the bill was Sarah Ragle Weddington, the lawyer who represented Jane Roe in Roe v. Wade and the woman whom Roe would later say manipulated her and lied about her in order to convince the Supreme Court to legalize abortion. Roe, whose real name was Norma McCorvey, said Weddington lied about McCorvey having been raped. McCorvey said that Weddington simply needed a vulnerable pregnant woman to help open a court case. McCorvey, who was homeless, fit that bill. Still, Cuomo thanked Weddington for her work in ensuring legalized abortion.

Third-trimester abortion will be allowed under the new law when a preborn child is diagnosed with a condition that will cause him or her to die at or shortly after birth. In addition, the new law removes protections for babies born alive after an abortion – -meaning they could be left to die after birth.

The law also allows for abortion through all nine months of pregnancy when the mother’s life or health is at risk – which is completely unnecessary, as delivering a live baby via C-section is faster and safer than killing the baby in a two-day late-term abortion. Former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino explains in the video below:

The new law also allows non-physicians to commit non-surgical abortions and moves the abortion law from the state’s penal code to its health code – which removes any threat of the prosecution of abortionists. Senate Republicans, however, said that change could make it impossible for a woman who loses her preborn child because of an assault to have her assailant prosecuted.

New York has an abortion rate of 23.1 per 1,000 women, twice the national average of 11.8 per 1,000 women. 25 to 27 percent of pregnancies in New York State end in abortion. In New York City, 78 percent of abortions are on African American babies. More black babies being killed through abortion than being born in the city. Cuomo’s new abortion law will likely increase those numbers.

The Senate passed the bill first by a vote of 33-24. The Assembly then voted 92-47 in favor of the bill. It is the first change to New York’s abortion laws since 1970, and while the federal law set by Roe v. Wade in 1973 trumps New York’s law, Cuomo pushed the abortion expansion out of fear that Roe v. Wade could be overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. READ MORE
