March 29 The Troublemaker Within

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 4:1–5

Key Verse: 1 Peter 3:18

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.

I used to wonder if the Christian life really worked. Even after I had been a pastor for a while, I still wondered. I’d look at the Scriptures and then at my life, and they did not always match.

Even though most people have the idea that the Christian life does not work out the way the Bible says it does, I could not be content with doubting what the Word of God says. So I fasted and prayed, confessing to the Lord everything I could think to acknowledge. Still, I believed I was missing something.

I soon discovered the actual reason my Christian life was not working according to Scripture. I had been overlooking one very important truth—a truth that would ultimately transform my life of faith from a burden to a buoyancy. The problem was coming from within me. That is, our greatest troublemaker is our flesh. The main cause of defeat for the believer is the propensity to sin.

We receive a new nature the moment we are saved. However, Scripture reveals that because of the way our thinking has been “programmed,” we retain certain longings that do not fit a child of God. These attitudes and desires may come and go for the rest of our life, but they no longer define who we are. We are new creatures in Christ because He broke the power of the flesh. Therefore, it is clear that we cannot live the Christian life without God.

There is a battle waged between our flesh and the Holy Spirit, and the only way to win is by allowing Jesus Christ to live His life through us.

Dear heavenly Father, please reprogram my attitudes and desires. Give me a new way of thinking that is in accord with Your Word. Help me win the battle over the troublemaker within.[1]

March 29 Complete in Christ

Scripture Reading: Colossians 2:6–10

Key Verse: Colossians 2:10

You are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

On a scale of one to ten, how complete would you say your life is? What person, job, object, or achievement would make your life more fulfilling? Most of us would have probably scored moderately high on the first question and added a few names or items to the second.

Did you know, though, that the apostle Paul insisted that once we place our trust in Christ as Savior, at that instant we become “complete in Him”? The word complete in the original Greek meant “full.” When a person is full, he has no room for anything more. Think about this: if Christ is in you, your life is a “ten.” In Jesus Christ is “the fulness of Deity” (Col. 2:9 nasb). That is, Christ is the sum of all perfection—without blemish or want.

That same Christ resides in you and supplies all your needs. Therefore, when you have Christ, you have it all. You lack nothing. You possess eternal and abundant life. In Him are all of the wisdom, love, patience, kindness, and comfort you will ever need. No demand is unmet through the limitless resources of the indwelling Christ. Since you are complete in Him, your search for meaning is over. Christ is your life, and that is enough.

Almighty Lord, thank You that I am complete in You. My life is a “ten.” All my needs are supplied. I have it all. I lack nothing![1]

March 29 The High-Priestly Prayer

Scripture reading: John 17:1–26

Key verse: John 17:20

I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word.

This Scripture forms what scholars call the High-Priestly prayer. In it Jesus prayed for us and made His requests to the Father on our behalf.

Warren Wiersbe discusses it:

This is the greatest prayer ever prayed on earth and the greatest prayer recorded anywhere in Scripture. John 17 is certainly the “holy of holies” of the Gospel record, and we must approach this chapter in a spirit of humility and worship. To think that we are privileged to listen in as God the Son converses with His Father just as He is about to give His life as a ransom for sinners!

No matter what events occurred later that evening, this prayer makes it clear that Jesus was and is the Overcomer. He was not a “victim”; He was and is the Victor! “Be of good cheer,” He had encouraged His disciples; “I have overcome the world” (John 16:33) …

Why did Jesus pray this prayer? Certainly He was preparing Himself for the sufferings that lay ahead. As He contemplated the glory that the Father promised Him, He would receive new strength for His sacrifice (Hebrews 12:1–3). But He also had His disciples in mind (John 17:13).

What an encouragement this prayer should have been to them! He prayed about their security, their joy, their unity, and their future glory! He also prayed it for us today, so that we would know all that He has done for us.

Jesus, thank You for Your prayers for me! Thank You for Your concern about my security, joy, unity, and future glory.[1]

‘Mother Of All Caravans’ Forming In Honduras – Up To 20,000 Hope To Cross US Border: Report | ZeroHedge News

Mexico is bracing for the “mother of all caravans,” after Interior Secretary Olga Sánchez Cordero warned on Wednesday “We have information that a new caravan is forming in Honduras, that they’re calling ‘the mother of all caravans,’ and they are thinking it could have more than 20,000 people.”

The figure has been disputed by activists such as Irineo Mujica of group Pueblo Sin Fronteras, who has accompanied several caravans in Mexico and said in a statement that “there has never been a caravan of the size that Sanchez Cordero mentioned.”

Olga Sánchez Cordero

According to AP, past caravans have hit “very serious logistical hurdles at 7,000 – strong.”

Honduran activist Bartolo Fuentes, who accompanied a large caravan last year, dismissed the new reports as “part of the U.S. government’s plans, something made up to justify their actions.”

Later Thursday, Honduras’ deputy foreign minister, Nelly Jerez, denied that a “mother of all caravans” was forming in her country.

“There is no indication of such a caravan,” Jerez said. “This type of information promotes that people leave the country.” –AP

Sánchez Cordero made the comments alongside US Secretary of Homeland Security earlier this week in Miami, Florida.

Meanwhile, around 2,500 Central Americans and Cubans are currently making their way through Mexico’s southern state of Chipas right now in yet another caravan. Last year’s caravans contained up to 10,000 people at some points.

Mexico’s tolerance for the caravans is wearing thin it seems, as they have stopped giving migrants humanitarian visas at the border, while some previously hospitable towns along the well-traveled route are have stopped allowing caravans to spend the night.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Thursday that Mexico is doing its part to fight immigrant smuggling.

“We are going to do everything we can to help. We don’t in any way want a confrontation with the U.S. government,” he said. “It is legitimate that they are displeased and they voice these concerns.”

Sanchez Cordero has pledged to form a police line of “containment” around Mexico’s narrow Tehuantepec Isthmus to stop migrants from continuing north to the U.S. border.

The containment belt would consist of federal police and immigration agents, but such highway blockades and checkpoints have not stopped large and determined groups of migrants in the past. –AP

System-wide meltdown

In a Thursday letter to the House and Senate, Homeland Secretary Nielsen made an “urgent request” for assistance to stop what she described as a tide of migrants overwhelming the border, according to CBS News.

“DHS facilities are overflowing, agents and officers are stretched too thin, and the magnitude of arriving and detained aliens has increased the risk of life-threatening incidents,” wrote Nielsen – citing the increasing number of migrants arriving each month in large groups.

Nielsen wrote that her “greatest concern was for the children,” as Customs and Border Protection currently has over 1,200 unaccompanied children in custody. The Trump administration has been widely criticized for earlier policies towards migrant children, such as separating families and keeping minors in poorly equipped detention facilities.

Nielsen also asked for more detention facilities in her letter, a point of disagreement which nearly led to a second shutdown this year. Democrats have reasoned that capping Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s detention beds would force the administration to narrow its ramped-up deportation efforts.

Nielsen said that the Department of Health and Human Services would require more emergency resources such as medical and legal assistance to handle the influx of children. She also asked that Congress grant more authority to DHS to return unaccompanied migrant children from Central America to their countries, saying that putting these minors in the custody of sponsors in the U.S. becomes a “pull” factor for more migrants to make the trip north. –CBS News

“Let me be clear: the journey of any migrant — especially at the hands of a smuggler or trafficker — is not a safe one,” reads the letter. “We must be able to come together on a bipartisan basis to take action.”

The kalam cosmological argument defended in a peer-reviewed science journal

WINTERY KNIGHT

Here’s the peer-reviewed article. It appears in a scientific journal focused on astrophysics.

Here’s the abstract:

Both cosmology and philosophy trace their roots to the wonder felt by the ancient Greeks as they contemplated the universe. The ultimate question remains why the universe exists rather than nothing. This question led Leibniz to postulate the existence of a metaphysically necessary being, which he identified as God. Leibniz’s critics, however, disputed this identification, claiming that the space-time universe itself may be the metaphysically necessary being. The discovery during this century that the universe began to exist, however, calls into question the universe’s status as metaphysically necessary, since any necessary being must be eternal in its existence. Although various cosmogonic models claiming to avert the beginning of the universe predicted by the standard model have been and continue to be offered, no model involving an eternal universe has proved as plausible as…

The Nuclear Option: New York Times, Washington Post Lose Russian Roulette — Christian Research Network

“No two people have done more than these two buffoons to peddle fantasy claims, unfounded conspiracy theories and outright lies regarding President Trump’s supposed collusion with the Kremlin during the 2016 election.”

(Charles Hurt – Breitbart)  In the wake of the journalistic catastrophe exposed by the Mueller report, it is important that we record as many of the lies that we can and shine a bright light on the most dishonest goats in the media over the past two years.

No publications deserve more contempt and ridicule than The New York Times and The Washington Post. Both were once serious newspapers dedicated to ferreting out the truth and holding accountable those in power.

Sure, they have always suffered from metropolitan biases, but they also always aimed for the truth. They were nobody’s stooges — at least openly. No more. Both newspapers are now entirely dedicated to blindly advancing a crazy political agenda and, we now know, are more than willing to lie and shade to push their twisted information on readers.

In today’s world of fire hose information from every direction, the greatest human superpower is the ability to filter out all the dishonest streams of misinformation coming from all the dirty outlets that have lost all credibility.

I will never read another story about even baseball in The Washington Post ever again — now that I know just how fully committed they are to distorting every little thing.

The New York Times is an even greater disappointment considering the gold standard stature the Gray Lady once held in the constellation of American newspapers.

In February 2017, NYT published a story headlined, “Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts with Russian Intelligence,” by Michael S. Schmidt, Mark Mazzetti and Matt Apuzzo. The story cited “phone records and intercepted calls” and relied upon “four current and former American officials.”   View article →

Time for Christians to Leave the Democrat Party? — Eradicate: Blotting Out God in America

The party of godlessness is taking their extremism up a few notches to the point you can no longer be neutral. Just a handful of things liberal Democrats have supported in recent weeks include: infanticide, anti-Semitism, environmentalism, illegal immigration, transgender surgeries, the LGBTQ agenda, legalizing prostitution, and of course – socialism.

Does the cycle of godlessness begin with those elected to office, or the people who vote them into power? If you haven’t thought about leaving the Democrat Party, it may be time to at least stop blindly voting for them, especially if you’re a Christian. If you refuse to reconsider, you have a serious conflict of interest on your hands. Many on both sides need to repent of idolatry.

I am certainly not suggesting the Republican Party is full of angels. I’m thankful for President Trump’s strong pro-life and pro-Israel stance, but I don’t agree with him on all the issues, nor do I go along with every single policy they endorse. There is however, a stark, glaring contrast today between the two major political parties in the U.S. and the chasm is getting wider and deeper.

More than ever, progressives are all about power. Their goal is big government control and one-party rule in America. Karl Marx would be proud because the revolution can only advance by doing away with God & Christianity, families, natural marriage, religious freedom, work incentive, and private property. Social justice ideology has practically consumed any professing Christians in the Democrat Party to the point they justify blatant immorality.

‘It’s all about the people,’ they say. Nancy Pelosi said Democrats are doing God’s work. They say Republicans and Christians are the ones who are bigoted, intolerant and racist.

But before we get to the slippery slope of socialism, we should call out immorality for what it is. Democrat presidential candidate, Senator Kamala Harris recently said she would “decriminalize” prostitution based on consent. Wouldn’t that lead to more sexual abuse and less protection for victims of violence?

Next, you already know about Democrats in New York voting to legalize infanticide, the murder of a living baby even up through the delivery process. But the Party of death also voted against providing medical care or protections to a baby born alive in the case of a botched abortion.

Think about this: a living, suffering human baby is placed on a table crying and in pain – and is left to die. They wouldn’t do that to a puppy or a kitten – or a fish.

Condemning the liberal mindset that defends animal life over human life, CEO of MyPillow.com, Mike Lindell said this last week at CPAC:

“I see a Party saving minnows in California and killing babies in New York. Are you kidding me?”

And some say a wall on our southern border is “immoral.” Did you know that on Friday, House Democrats voted in favor of illegal immigrants voting in U.S. elections? The key word here is “illegal.” This is no longer your great grandparent’s Democrat Party.

They did this under the guise of the bill, “HR 1,” and essentially voted to defend local governments choosing to go against federal law and allow illegal aliens to vote. Georgia Democrat, John Lewis said they are “prepared to open up the political process and let all of the people come in.”

Texas Republican and American Vet, Dan Crenshaw asked, “What kind of government would cancel the vote of its own citizens, and replace it with noncitizens?” He later Tweeted:

“Today I offered a motion to recommit #HR1 reaffirming that only US citizens should have the right to vote. “Dems rejected it. Next time you go to the ballot box, keep that in mind. The future of their party is in cities like San Fran, where illegals can vote. Let that sink in.”

Prior to Democrats regaining power in the U.S. House, Nancy Pelosi promised to work hard for the LGBT lobby, for noncitizens wanting to cross our borders, for women wanting abortions, and for those wanting to protect the environment.

Then there’s Corey Booker who first grilled Mike Pompeo, then a judicial nominee, asking if they believe LGBT relationships are a sin. So, if you don’t believe in gay sex, you’re not fit to serve?

Don’t forget Hillary who, from her high perch above the law, thinks Trump voters are just a bunch of deplorables.

But there are plenty of headlines about the 29 year-old college grad and bartender from New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. AOC recently said she’s so worried about the environment and the planet she wonders if it’s still okay to have babies.

She also just called for the U.S. to end its relationship with Israel. Her radical socialist policies should are concerning. The “Green New Deal” she introduced would cost trillions and she doesn’t seem to care or understand how we’d pay for it.

Writing about Democrat radicalism, Washington Times contributor, Robert Knight stated:

But she’s the new face of the Democratic Party’s plunge into outright socialism. All six of the major announced contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination have endorsed her sweeping “Green New Deal.” He added that “socialism “promises of guaranteed income equality,” “free” medical care,” “free college tuition,” state ownership of the means of production, confiscation of private property, central planning and a one-party system inevitably result in coercion and violence.”

I agree that socialism violates the laws of nature and nature’s God, and the progressive worldview begins with the false idea we’re not really created in God’s image, and we’re merely products of random events.

The sexual revolution was part and parcel of socialist thought in the 19th century, just as it’s a driving force in the Democratic Party today, which pushes LGBTQ sexual anarchy and abortion. A consistent feature of the revolution is that “the ends justify the means.” So, lies are good as long as people keep falling for them.

Seventy-five years ago, six-time candidate for the Socialist Party of America, Norman Thomas, stated:

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.”

Marx wrote that socialism is the last necessary step on the road to communism. Ronald Reagan once said, “I didn’t leave the Democrat Party; the Democrat Party left me.” But he said this in the 1980s. It’s nearly forty years later and too many Americans believe the same lies and keep voting the same way simply because they always have.

Since our actions and words will be judged, don’t you think God will hold us accountable for how we vote?

For those who trust in Jesus Christ and believe the Bible is true, if you vote for policies that go against God’s teachings and biblical morality, it might be time to reexamine your priorities, values, and even who or what your faith is in.

Democrats Introduce Resolution To Impeach Trump With Reasons To Be Filled In Later — The Babylon Bee

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Congressional Democrats have drafted a resolution to impeach President Donald Trump. Since the Mueller report cleared Trump of collusion with Russia, the Democrats weren’t sure why they should impeach Trump and have left the reasons for impeachment on their resolution blank for now.

“Donald Trump has committed the high crime of TBA,” reads the resolution written by freshman congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, “and should be impeached and immediately removed from office before he can further damage this country by [INSERT SCARY THINGS HERE].”

“He absolutely should be impeached for something, I’m like pretty sure,” Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told reporters. “He’s a bad man and he made fun of my Green New Deal, which I worked on for like hours.”

Trump was dismissive of the resolution, though. “I’m the greatest president ever, and the Mueller report says I’ve never done anything wrong in my life and deserve a raise.” While saying this, he blocked reporters from looking into the Oval Office, where he said “nothing is going on” and definitely “nothing impeachable.”

Despite criticism that she needs to provide actual evidence of crimes worthy of impeachment, Representative Tlaib insisted: “We have to pass this resolution before we can decide what’s in it.”

Watch This Video To See Why The Corrupt Liberal Media And Political Industrial Complex Must Stop Donald Trump At All Costs — Now The End Begins

This is why the corrupt Liberal media and political-industrial complex must stop Donald Trump at all costs

He wasn’t supposed to win, and everybody including Donald Trump knew it. Slithery end times figures like financier George Soros had filled Hillary Clinton’s war chest to over one billion literal dollars, and the corrupt Liberal media had already coronated her. And from morning to evening they repeated their indoctrinational mantras over and over and over again. It was decided, accept it. Hillary Clinton would be the next president because the American shadow government had decreed it to be.

But then something happened, something changed, the Matrix sprouted a glitch, and one by one the people began to wake up. It was as if God Himself had anointed a candidate who would break through the noise and the chatter, and speak truth the American people.

So here now we present to you, in one amazing supercut, the incredible end times message of Donald Trump, and after watching it you will understand immediately why the Liberal media and political-industrial complex must stop this man at all costs.

Donald Trump Exposing The Corrupt American Shadow Government

This supercut was taken from the 2016 presidential campaign.

The Liberal establishment had it all planned out. Hillary Clinton would step into office after Barack Obama, and she would continue to sweep all that corruption under the rug. But the election of Donald Trump proved once and for all that America is actually governed by a corrupt shadow government that goes all the way back to the early days of the 20th century.

“It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” Henry Ford

I have often said that I believe, in my opinion, that God raised up Donald Trump in these end times to prevent the collapse of America long enough to do what needed to be done for Israel. Israel is always the nation God cares most about, all the other nations, including America, are just a “drop in the bucket” as the Bible declares. But any nation whose leaders are willing to bless Israel will still be blessed in return.

“Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.” Isaiah 40:15 (KJV)

In just a little over 2 years, God has used Donald Trump to have Jerusalem declared as the capital of Israel, the US Embassy moved there from Tel Aviv, and last week recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. And in an amazing article from yesterday, we showed you that the Trump administration may just be planning to support the building of the Third Jewish Temple as part of an overall Middle East Peace covenant.  For bible believers and students of prophecy, these are exciting times.

Pray for Donald Trump, for the salvation of his soul, and that God’s protective hand will continue to remain on him as his enemies continue to assail and attack him night and day.

This is the overflow from Trump’s Michigan rally March 28, 2019

After two and a half years of relentless attacks from the Liberal media, Donald Trump is seemingly more popular than ever.

CNN Blames Ratings Slump On Lack Of News They Want To Report — The Babylon Bee

ATLANTA, GA—Both CNN and MSNBC saw a ratings dive this week after the Mueller report determined there was no collusion between President Donald Trump and Russia in the 2016 election, while Fox News appears to have done very well in the wake of the news.

CNN has waved away the drop in ratings, claiming it is just because there’s not that much news this week that they would like to report on.

“It’s been kind of a slow news week, in terms of things we actually want to report on,” CNN correspondent Brian Stelter wrote on his Twitter account. “Yeah, there’s a bunch of stuff happening this week, but it’s not stuff that we really want to talk about. So of course we’re gonna have a little bit of a ratings downtick.”

“It’s perfectly natural to see a little bit of a dip in ratings when your entire narrative is being destroyed and you’d rather just not talk about it,” Stelter added. “All part of the business.”

Executives at the station confirmed they will simply be playing Columbo reruns for the remainder of the week in lieu of talking about Mueller’s report, the Green New Deal getting obliterated, the wall beginning construction, and Michael Avenatti’s arrest.

This is What Concerns Faith Leaders The Most in America Today — CBN News feeds

The Barna Group has just released the largest study ever on religious freedom in America. It took four years to complete and the results are astonishing.

Three quarters of U.S. clergy now believe religious freedom is becoming less valued in our country and two out of five adults polled – 43% – say Americans have less religious freedom than they did 10 years ago.

Appearing on the CBN News program The Global Lane, Barna president David Kinnaman said a vast majority of pastors feel they are often constrained or limited in the way they preach or teach in today’s society.

“They actually feel pressured to not preach on certain topics or pressured to speak on topics that they are not ready to talk about,”  he explained.

And what are some of those topics?

Kinnaman said members of the clergy struggle with how to address issues of sexuality, the LGBTQ community, and immigration.

Some evangelical Christians have complained that many pastors are less likely in today’s society to preach about sin, consequences of sin, homosexuality, and hell.

“There is all this pressure to speak out on issues, or not to speak out on issues,” said Kinnaman.

Declining church attendance and morality are also issues of interest.

72% of faith leaders said they are especially concerned about young people dropping out of church.

Surprisingly, Kinnaman said their researchers found that young Christians are often more willing to be challenged and pushed by the church than the church is willing to challenge them.

“Those who are resilient in their faith are actually taught about a lot of really deep, theological truths and we don’t shy away from that in those churches that retain young people, that produce resilient discipleship.”

Kinnaman said the church environment is more difficult today than in years past and Barna found that many young Christians fear speaking up about their faith and important issues.

“They feel misunderstood, marginalized. It is a very difficult  environment to grow up as a young Christian,” he explained. “So we should acknowledge that and recognize that, but be all the more committed to teaching these young people the truth about scripture.”

Barna polled Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and other faith leaders. Researchers found that religious liberty is something that concerns all faith groups in America.

“I think this is an important thing. If we are concerned about religious liberty for Christians, we also ought to be concerned about religious liberty for people of other faith groups,” Kinnaman said.

While adults of various faiths share a growing concern about religious freedom, the study reports that under the last two years under the Trump administration, the concern has been mitigated somewhat.

One of the main concerns expressed at this point is about people practicing their faith outside the four walls of their places of worship.

“When you talk about opportunities to run institutions like adoption services and others in a very religiously plural culture, there are concerns about how will people’s rights, how will these organizations, how will these churches, how will these colleges and universities – how will their rights, to practice their religion – not only to worship…but be able to practice those faith commitments in the public square,” said Kinnaman.

One big take-away from the study?

Kinnaman said it’s finding a “better way forward” when it comes to protecting religious liberty rights for all Americans.

More Wolves and False Teachings — The Watchman’s Bagpipes

Are these wolves in your church? Most churches have at least one or two of them.
James MacDonald abused his position to enrich himself, as well as abusing people around him.  And so did others.
Another example as to why Thabiti Anyabwile is a wolf. He continues to prove he is a racist and not a pastor.  He also demonstrates unbiblical ideology with his teaching of generational sin.
This Pope is more and more the appearance of an anti-Christ.
Notice the Pope’s official logo for his visit to Morocco –  the symbol of Islam swallows up the cross. His partnership with Islam is anti-God.
Farewell Francis Chan. And yet he defends the indefensible.  A good summation of his apostatizing. Beth Moore and a “Christian” LGBTQXYZ activist are now defending Chan!
Beth Moore just goes from bad to worse.
Homosexual Christianity” is an oxymoron. But it is invading the church.
Where is the discernment?!?!Gloria Copeland, just like her husband Kenneth, is a false teacher and most likely not even a Christian.
Albert Mohler used to be a really good teacher, but over the past few years he seems to be disintegrating into LEFTISM.  He needs to be avoided as he apostatizes into a wolf.
The false gospel of the evangelical reparations movement. Just another LEFTIST “social justice” lie. I wonder why they don’t demand “reparations” from the black Africans who sold them into slavery. Think about it, though; no one living for the past few decades had any immediate family who were slaves or slave owners. How far back should we go to punish any wrong-doing?  And what about the “white” people who never had slaves (the vast majority) and who even fought a war which freed them: why should those families be liable for slavery?  And why should I feel guilty?
Todd White is a dangerous wolf pretending to be a Christian.  Here is a whole collection of information proving just how dangerous he is.
So a woman working for a Catholic institution is surprised when they hold her to their moral standards? Then she makes the asinine comparison of sexual immorality with birth control. Unbelievers want to work in Christian (or quasi-Christian) organizations, yet are continually complaining about the moral requirements. Perhaps they should stick with working for unbelievers.

Breaking: Illinois Prosecutor’s Association Condemns State’s Attorney Kim Foxx: Her Actions “Undermine the Very Foundation of our Public Court System” — The Gateway Pundit

The Chicago Police sent actor Jussie Smollett a bill for $130,000 on Wednesday demanding payment for his false statements.

The police letter to Jussie Smollett said, “The Chicago Police Department take seriously those who make false statements to the police, thereby diverting resources from other investigations.”

The Chicago police told Smollett to send them the payment in a timely manner.

Smollett was let off this week by the corrupt State’s Attorney’s office after his vicious stunt to smear Trump supporters as homophobic, racists.  He allegedly employed two Nigerian brothers to play the parts of the homophobic white men.

On Friday an Illinois prosecutors group condemned Kim Foxx and listed her many dishonest and questionable actions this week.

The Illinois Prosecutor’s Bar Association released a letter on Friday condemning State’s Attorney Kim Foxx for her highly irregular and dishonest maneuver to dismiss all charges against hate hoaxer Jussie Smollett.

The Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association serves as the voice for nearly 1,000 front line prosecutors across the State who work tirelessly towards the pursuit of justice. The events of the past few days regarding the Cook County State’s Attorney’s handling of the Jussie Smollett case is not condoned by the IPBA, nor is it representative of the honest ethical work prosecutors provide to the citizens of the State of Illinois on a daily basis.

The manner in which this case was dismissed was abnormal and unfamiliar to those who practice law in criminal courthouses across the State. Prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges alike do not recognize the arrangement Mr. Smollett received. Even more problematic, the State’s Attorney and her representatives have fundamentally misled the public on the law and circumstances surrounding the dismissal.

The public has the right to know the truth, and we set out to do that here.

When an elected State’s Attorney recuses herself from a prosecution, Illinois law provides that the court shall appoint a special prosecutor. See 55 ILCS 5/3-9008(a-15). Typically, the special prosecutor is a neighboring State’s Attorney, the Attorney General, or the State Appellate Prosecutor. Here, the State’s Attorney kept the case within her office and thus never actually recused herself as a matter of law.

Additionally, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office falsely informed the public that the uncontested sealing of the criminal court case was “mandatory” under Illinois law. This statement is not accurate. To the extent the case was even eligible for an immediate seal, that action was discretionary, not mandatory, and only upon the proper filing of a petition to seal. See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(g)(2). For seals not subject to Section 5.2(g)(2), the process employed in this case by the State’s Attorney effectively denied law enforcement agencies of legally required Notice (See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(d)(4)) and the legal opportunity to object to the sealing of the file (See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(d)(5)). The State’s Attorney not only declined to fight the sealing of this case in court, but then provided false information to the public regarding it.

The appearance of impropriety here is compounded by the fact that this case was not on the regularly scheduled court call, the public had no reasonable notice or opportunity to view these proceedings, and the dismissal was done abruptly at what has been called an “emergency” hearing. To date, the nature of the purported emergency has not been publicly disclosed. The sealing of a court case immediately following a hearing where there was no reasonable notice or opportunity for the public to attend is a matter of grave public concern and undermines the very foundation of our public court system.

Media Refuses to Report on Christians Being Slaughtered

The media did their job by reporting on the horrific mosque attack in New Zealand last week where fifty were killed, but the ongoing mass slaughter of Christians does not fit the liberal media narrative. Persecution is at record levels – but we’d never know it. And thank God if you live in America where religious freedoms are still a protected right – for now. Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ being persecuted around the world.

Mueller, Trump, Christians, and Government

After two years of painstaking investigation and more than $25 million in taxpayer costs, Special Investigator Robert Mueller has concluded that, wait for it… President Trump did not collude with Russians to undermine our election system in 2016.  Talk about a dramatic “thud.” That should be the end to all this, but as we know, it is just going to continue as liberals will spare no taxpayer expense to undermine the president’s reputation and policies because they refuse to accept the truth. Are we seeing similar scenarios unfold within American Christianity?  Despite the Bible’s clear teachings on a variety of “social issues,” a growing number of Christians and churches refuse to accept the truth of God’s Word, choosing to compromise or believe what seems “right” to them.John Loeffler of Steel on Steel Radio joins Mike and David to discuss how opinions are being elevated over facts, in politics, in the media, and even when it comes to doctrine in some Christian churches. We also discuss Canada’s new “Risk Tracking Database” that some feel is a portal to government intervention into private lives and religious beliefs.  How long before this might come to America?

Deus Ex Machina: Religions Use Robots to Connect With the Public
Gabriele Trovato is worried about tomorrow. Or at least that’s what he confesses to SanTO, one of his religion-inspired robots. Just shy of 17 inches tall, SanTO resembles those small figurines of saints often found in Catholic homes—except with a computer, microphone, sensors and a facial recognition-enabled camera. As Mr. Trovato touches and speaks to the machine, its deep, echoing voice responds with a Bible quote: “From the Gospel according to Matthew,” it says, “do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Should they ever become sentient, robots could join faiths themselves, raising questions about religious identity, he said. Would a robot count for a minyan, a Jewish quorum for religious obligations?

March 29, 2019 Afternoon Verse Of The Day

5–6 Several specific instructions comprise this general admonition to be faithful. The first is to trust in the Lord and not in oneself, because he grants success. In other words, the teaching is valid because God will bless it. Bāṭaḥ (“trust”; GK 1053) carries the force of relying on someone for security; the confidence is to be in the Lord and not in human understanding. Here the object of faith is what the Lord has said through the wise teaching of the father. The call is for a trust characterized by total commitment—“with all your heart,” “in all your ways.” Bînâ (“understanding”) is now cast in a sinful mode (cf. 1:2, 6), so there is to be a difference between the bînâ that wisdom brings and the natural bînâ that undermines faith.

The traditional rendering “acknowledge him” (v. 6) needs to be refined, for the expression suggests “confess him.” But the verb is “know him,” and it reflects the intimate experience of a personal relationship. The sequence of the lines may also suggest their communication of a promise: by trusting him fully you will know him. What these beautiful expressions call for is “absolute obedience and surrender in every realm of life” (Fritsch, IB, 4:799). When obedient faith is present, the Lord will guide the believer along life’s paths in spite of difficulties and hindrances. The idea of “straight” contrasts to the crooked and perverse ways of the wicked.[1]

Trust in the Lord (vv. 5–6)

Trust God entirely, ‘with all your heart’ (v. 5a). God demands an undivided commitment to himself. Too often Israel had a loyalty divided between the Lord and the false gods of the nations. We can be tempted to trust the wisdom of the world rather than rely upon divine revelation. The psalmist says, ‘I hate those who are double-minded’ (Ps. 119:113). Jesus said, ‘No one can serve two masters’ (Matt. 6:24a), and he taught that the greatest commandment is to ‘love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength’ (Mark 12:30).

Trust God exclusively, and ‘do not lean on your own understanding’ (v. 5b). By nature we are inclined to foolishly rely upon our own inclinations and desires: ‘All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way’ (Isa. 53:6). Many people make crucial life decisions in areas such as marriage, finances, and vocation not based upon God’s revealed Word but their feelings. Proverbs tells us that our feelings are unreliable: ‘There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death’ (14:12); ‘he who trusts in his own heart is a fool’ (28:26a). A man may feel that he would be happier if he were to divorce his wife. A mother may not feel like using the rod of discipline on her children. In their quest to grow, churches may be tempted to resort to worldly methodologies that compromise biblical principles. The wise man does not lean on his own understanding but trusts that God’s way is best. The one who chooses his own way arrogantly claims that he knows better than God.

Proverbs also warns us against being improperly influenced by other people: ‘The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted’ (29:25). We must evaluate the counsel and influence of friends, family members, and worldly experts against the Word of God, and we must have the courage to risk their disapproval when Scripture directs us otherwise. The command to trust God also brings to mind the way of salvation. Conversion takes place when we repent of trusting in our own goodness and wisdom and put our faith in what God has done for us in Christ (Eph. 2:8–9).

Trust God extensively: ‘In all your ways acknowledge Him’ (v. 6a). We are not merely to acknowledge God’s lordship over our religious life; we are to bring God’s truth to bear on every aspect of life. We trust him in how we run our families, our education, our careers, our finances, and our friendships. He is Lord of all! Abraham Kuyper said, ‘In the total expanse of human life there is not a single square inch of which the Christ, who alone is sovereign, does not declare, “That is mine!” ’ The wise person is characterized by continuous contemplation of God and a ready observance of his will, not only in the great issues of life but also in day-to-day routine. No matter is too small for God’s attention. To paraphrase one commentator, it is self-idolatry to think we can carry on even the most ordinary matters without his counsel.8

God blesses those who trust him: ‘He will make your paths straight’ (v. 6b). The person who trusts God entirely, exclusively, and extensively will enjoy success in life.[2]

3:5–6 / The command to trust in the Lord is expressed positively and negatively (it is foolish to trust in oneself; cf. 26:5, 12; 28:26a). The motive in 6b is the assurance of divine direction in life.[3]

5–6 O. Plöger points out that wisdom joins Yahwism (were they ever really separate?) in this command to trust in the Lord, an ideal that is sounded frequently in the Psalter and elsewhere. The contrast between such trust and one’s own intelligence or insight is not a put-down of wisdom teaching, because the truly wise person knows of limits. Wisdom is a gift of God (2:6), but whoever claims to be wise is more foolish than the fool (Prov 26:12; cf. also Jer 9:22–23), and the next couplet (vv 7–8) reinforces this idea. The Lord’s role in the ways of humans is also indicated in 16:9 and 20:24 (cf. Hos 14:10).[4]

3:5–6. These verses represent the heart of the exhortations. The son is admonished to trust in the Lord with all his heart (v. 5a). Such trust completely believes what God says, including accepting His words of wisdom while rejecting the way of folly, obeying His commands, and embracing His promises. Trust also involves resting secure in God’s loving, protective care and relying completely on His resources. Thus the trusting one will not lean on his own understanding (v. 5b). “In acknowledging one’s own lack of resources, one becomes open to God’s power and wisdom, which is a better guide to life” (Longman, Proverbs, 133).

The one who trusts God and not his own wisdom will also acknowledge God in all his ways (v. 6a). To acknowledge God is to know Him personally and to be in fellowship with Him (Kidner, Proverbs, 63–64). The trusting one thus pursues his relationship with the Lord in everything he does (cf. 1Co 10:31).

The result of trusting and pursuing the Lord is that He will make your paths straight (Pr 3:6b). As the lifestyle of the wicked is crooked in both a moral sense (they live corruptly) and a pragmatic sense (they face difficulties of their own making) (see 2:15), so the lifestyle of the righteous is straight in both senses. His way of life is straight morally (i.e., he lives in a God-honoring way) and smooth pragmatically (i.e., he faces fewer obstacles to a successful, joyful life).[5]

3:5–6. To trust in the Lord wholeheartedly means one should not rely (lean) on his understanding, for human insights are never enough. God’s ways are incomprehensible (Isa. 55:8–9; Rom. 11:33–34); yet He is trustworthy. All the wisdom a person may acquire can never replace the need for full trust in God’s superior ways. Heart in Hebrew refers to one’s emotions (Prov. 12:25; 13:12; 14:10, 13) but more often to his intellect (such as understanding, 10:8; discernment, 15:14; reflection, 15:28), or will (5:12).

As a person trusts in the Lord and acknowledges Him (this is not a nod of recognition but an intimate knowledge of God) in all his ways (cf. all your heart, 3:5), he finds that God makes his paths straight. This means more than guidance; it means God removes the obstacles, making a smooth path or way of life, or perhaps better, bringing one to the appointed goal. (On ways and paths, cf. v. 17 and see comments on 2:13, 15.) Proverbs teaches that those who follow wisdom have an easier, less problematic life (e.g., 3:10, 16, 24–25).[6]

3:5 First, there must be a full commitment of ourselves—spirit, soul, and body—to the Lord. We must trust Him not only for the salvation of our souls but also for the direction of our lives. It must be a commitment without reserve.

Next, there must be a healthy distrust of self, an acknowledgment that we do not know what is best for us, that we are not capable of guiding ourselves. Jeremiah expressed it pointedly: “O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps” (Jer. 10:23).

3:6 Finally, there must be an acknowledgment of the Lordship of Christ: “In all your ways acknowledge Him.” Every area of our lives must be turned over to His control. We must have no will of our own, only a single pure desire to know His will and to do it.

If these conditions are met, the promise is that God shall direct our paths. He may do it through the Bible, through the advice of godly Christians, through the marvelous converging of circumstances, through the inward peace of the Spirit, or through a combination of these. But if we wait, He will make the guidance so clear that to refuse would be positive disobedience.[7]

3:5, 6 The words trust in the Lord echo the command of Deut. 6:5 to love God with all our being. The verb trust is complemented by the verb “lean.” Trusting in God is a conscious dependence on God, much like leaning on a tree for support. The idea is reinforced here by the command to acknowledge Him, which means to observe Him and get to know Him in the process of living. In doing so, a person finds time and time again that God smoothes out paths.[8]

We All Need God’s Wisdom

Prov. 3:5, 6

When God invited Solomon to ask for whatever he wanted, the king requested wisdom (1 Kin. 3:9). That God-given wisdom taught Solomon that only a fool tries to solve life’s problems without God’s help.

Any time we spend wondering about how to get out of a touchy situation is time wasted. God’s guidance is more than sufficient for all the tests or trials we might have to face—but in order to benefit from it, we have to seek it out, just as Solomon did so long ago.

In this life, tests come in all shapes and sizes. Some we anticipate; others blindside us in the middle of a rainy afternoon. Some tests require us to endure; others ask us to make the right decision immediately. Regardless of the package in which the test comes wrapped, God instructs us to come to Him for the wisdom we so desperately need.[9]

March 29 Redeeming Your Suffering

scripture reading: Romans 5:1–5
key verse: Philippians 1:29

To you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.

Snoopy, the cartoon character created by Charles Schulz, reflected on the meaning of life in one humorous strip. After much contemplation, he spotted Charlie Brown coming with his supper dish and exclaimed: “Ah, meaning!”

We grin, for we all want to experience true meaning in life. It is exactly because suffering seems to have no meaning that we seek to recoil from it.

What meaning can there be in another miscarriage?

What meaning can there be in still another financial setback?

What meaning can be found for the person who has to use a wheelchair because of the intoxicated actions of another?

The meaning is this: we were placed on this planet to know and glorify God. As we suffer and turn to Christ, we accomplish both goals—to know Him intimately and to glorify Him. When our chief desire is to glorify God, suffering is but another means to achieve that end.

Others can experience and see the peace and joy of the indwelling Christ. His humility and long–suffering can shine in our darkness with radiant splendor.

You can redeem your suffering, give meaning to it, and rescue it from emptiness by realizing your pain can be used to glorify Jesus.

I may not understand my suffering, Lord, but that does not mean it is without purpose. I know You are working all things together for good. Help me redeem my suffering by realizing my pain can be used to glorify You![1]

The snare of the fowler

“Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler.” Psalm 91:3

suggested further reading: 2 Corinthians 11:1–20

It was once said by a talented writer, that the old devil was dead, and that there was a new devil now; by which he meant to say, that the devil of old times was a rather different devil from the deceiver of these times. We believe that it is the same evil spirit; but there is a difference in his mode of attack. The devil of five hundred years ago was a black and grimy thing, well portrayed in our old pictures of that evil spirit. He was a persecutor, who cast men into the furnace, and put them to death for serving Christ. The devil of this day is a well-spoken gentleman: he does not persecute—he rather attempts to persuade and to beguile. He is not now the furious Romanist, so much as the insinuating unbeliever, attempting to overturn our religion, whilst at the same time he pretends he would but make it more rational, and so more triumphant. He would only link worldliness with religion; and so he would really make religion void, under the cover of developing the great power of the gospel, and bringing out secrets which our forefathers had never discovered. Satan is always a fowler; whatever his tactics may be, his object is still the same—to catch men in his net. Men are here compared to silly, weak birds, that have not skill enough to avoid the snare, and have not strength enough to escape from it. Satan is the fowler; he has been so and is so still; and if he does not attack us as the roaring lion, roaring against us in persecution, he attacks us as the adder, creeping silently along the path, endeavouring to bite our heel with his poisoned fangs, and weaken the power of grace and ruin the life of godliness within us. Our text is a very comforting one to all believers, when they are beset by temptation.

for meditation: We should be on our guard against falling into the snare of the devil (1 Timothy 3:7), but take courage from the fact that God is able to enable us to escape from it (2 Timothy 2:26).

Success at Work

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Psalm 127:2

suggested further reading: Matthew 6:25–34

Solomon, the writer of this psalm, identifies two means that people believe contribute in an eminent degree to the amassing of riches. It is not surprising to find that those who become rich in a short time spare no exertion but work night and day in their occupations, allowing themselves only scanty payment from the product of their labor.

Solomon, however, says that neither living on a small salary nor diligence in work will by itself profit us. He does not forbid us to practice temperance in our diet or to rise early to engage in worldly business, but rather stirs us up to prayer and to calling upon God. He also recommends that we express gratitude for divine blessings and bring to naught whatever would obscure the grace of God.

Consequently, we shall rightly enter our worldly vocations when our hope depends exclusively upon God. Our success then will correspond to our wishes. But if a person takes no account of God as he eagerly makes haste, he will bring ruin upon himself by his precipitous course.

The design of the prophet is not to encourage men to give way to sloth, so that they think about nothing all their life long and abandon themselves to idleness. Rather, his meaning is that they execute what God has asked them to do. They should begin each day with prayer and call upon God’s name, offering him their labors so that he may bless them.

for meditation: No matter how diligent we are, if our work is not blessed by God, it will fail miserably. Sadly, this principle is far from our minds during most workdays when we so easily slip into the mentality that our success depends solely on us. Make a conscious effort today to remember that any success in work is a blessing from God.[1]
