April 7 God’s Plan for the Resurrection

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:12–28

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:20

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

The foundation of Christianity is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul told the Corinthian church that without belief in this primary tenet of our faith, then our faith is in vain.

Since we believe in Jesus’ bodily resurrection from the grave after His crucifixion, then we also believe in the promise of our bodily resurrection into eternity. The alternative is to believe in nothing that is real, nothing that is hopeful or redeeming.

We cannot separate these truths. Jesus is the firstfruits of those raised from the dead. When Paul said this in 1 Corinthians 15:20, he used a verb tense in the Greek that means Jesus not only was raised but is still alive. He lives forevermore.

George Sweeting writes:

In Glendale, California, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, hundreds of people each year stand before two huge paintings. One pictures the crucifixion of Christ. The other depicts His resurrection. In the second painting the artist has pictured an empty tomb with an angel near the entrance. In the foreground stands the figure of the risen Christ. But the striking feature of that huge canvas is a vast throng of people, back in the misty background, stretching into the distance and out of sight, suggesting the multitude who will be raised from the dead because Jesus first died and rose for them.

Lord, thank You for Your death on the cross and Your resurrection. I rejoice in this hope. I praise You![1]

April 7 Eternal Changes

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 2:1–5

Key Verse: John 18:37

Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

Each of us must come to a point where we respond to the cross of Christ. There is no escaping it. Those who followed Jesus were faced with this fact, as were those who refrained from acknowledging His public ministry. Nicodemus approached Jesus under the cover of darkness.

At that time, the focus of Nicodemus’s heart was not on eternal but on temporal issues. However, by the time of Christ’s death, all of that had changed dramatically. Joseph of Arimathea, along with Nicodemus, requested permission to bury the body of Christ. Once Pilate placed his seal on the document granting their request, their lives were changed forever.

Hurrying to the site of the Crucifixion, they fought frantic, fearful thoughts, but their minds were made up. Jesus would have a proper burial, and they didn’t care who among their peers found out that they were responsible for this last act of devotion. Joseph donated his own tomb. Nicodemus gave all the spices he had gathered in preparation for his own death and burial.

Nicodemus had never publicly acknowledged Jesus; neither had Joseph (John 19:38). But with each handful of myrrh and aloe packed around the Lord’s body, the commitment of their hearts was made sure. The wonder of the Cross is not in death but in the eternal changes it brings.

Master, thank You for the eternal change that has occurred in me. My sins are forgiven, my destiny assured, my life changed forever.[1]

Survey: Americans Concerned About Country’s Moral Crisis, But Still Turning Away from God – Faithwire

Our nation’s moral compass is spinning out of control, and it will only get worse as we continue to turn away from True North.

A recent survey from the Pew Research Center shows a stunning 77 percent of Americans are at least “fairly worried” about the country’s morals, with 43 percent describing themselves as “very worried.”

But despite their concern, 50 percent of everyone surveyed said religion — the source of absolute truth and morality — will be “less important” in 30 years. Forty-three percent said faith will be equally important in 2050 as it is today.

A slight majority of white Americans — 56 percent — agree religion will be less important in 30 years, but only 33 percent of blacks and 40 percent of Hispanics feel the same way.

These numbers are, unfortunately, not very surprising. Nearly half of millennials today describe themselves as religiously unaffiliated, and that number is only getting bigger.

The survey also showed 56 percent of Americans believe faith in God is not necessary to have good values and to be moral.

April 7 The Riches of God’s Grace

Scripture reading: Romans 6:1–3

Key verse: John 1:16

Of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

The gospel of God’s grace, His full provision for man’s sin—present life and eternal destiny—is frequently perverted and attacked. At the foundation of most false religions is a denial of the free gift of salvation and an embrace of good works.

Others caution that the good news of grace can lead to a lifestyle of sin without appropriate punishment. “I am saved by grace, so why does it matter how I live?” is the standard argument.

The Scriptures clearly refute both errors, citing man’s inability to know God apart from the Savior’s initiative and man’s responsibility to live obediently. The rebellious believer reaps what he sows and is a most miserable creature.

However, we should never let such opposition dilute the overwhelming truth of amazing grace. Critics can never dampen the transforming, liberating power of God’s free, unconditional, unmerited love and mercy.

The gospel of grace, though misunderstood, cannot be replaced. It is the cornerstone for all of life, illuminating the goodness of God and attracting us to Him. Delight yourself today in the God of all grace.

Dear Lord, today I will delight myself in Your grace that has made full provision for my present life and eternal destiny.[1]

US government’s net worth is now NEGATIVE $75 TRILLION

Article Image

Usually around the middle of February each year, the US Treasury Department releases an annual report of the federal government’s financial condition.

It’s called the Financial Report of the US Government… and it looks a lot like an annual report that you might see filed by a big company like Apple or Facebook.

Except that, unlike Apple and Facebook, the US government’s annual report is absolutely gruesome.

This year’s report is no exception, save for one humorous anecdote: they -just- released it. In other words, they’re a month and a half LATE (given that the report is typically released in mid-February).

I actually CALLED the Treasury Department myself in early March, asking when they would publish the report.

The bewildered individual on the other end of the line said that he had no earthly idea, given that the government had been shut down for so long earlier this year.

Anyhow, if you want to see the report for yourself, you can download it here.

But I thought I would take the liberty of providing a few highlights–

In Fiscal Year 2018, the government’s total net loss was $1.16 TRILLION.

Uncle Sam collected $3.4 trillion in tax revenue in FY18. But they spent over $4.5 trillion.

WH Chief of Staff Claims ‘Mexico Has Done More’ Than Democrats to Prevent Illegal Immigration Into the US

Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney clocked Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her fellow Democrats for their inaction on the border crisis, claiming that Mexico has “done more” than Democrats to prevent illegal immigration into the United States.

During an interview with “Fox News Sunday” host Bill Hemmer, Mulvaney explained that Mexico has stepped up to help restrain the flow of migrants from Central America into the United States by attempting to throw up some roadblocks on their passage through the country.

Mulvaney claimed that the steps taken in the past week suggest more effort from Mexico than Democrats to prevent the migrant flow at the southern border.

Watch Mulvaney’s interview:

“In the last week, Mexico really has stepped it up for the very first time. They’re preventing people from coming in on their own southern border down towards Guatemala and Honduras and they’re also acceptign more of the folks that cross into the United States back into Mexico. In fact — and I know it’s hard to imagine — but again, Nancy Pelosi runs the Democrats in Congress. Mexico has done more in the last week to help our illegal immigration crisis than Nancy Pelosi and Democrats in the House.”

Mulvaney explained that immigration has been President Donald Trump’s “number one” issue since entering the White House, despite resistance from Democrats after they gained control of the House at the start of the year.

According to Mulvaney, the president cares about other issues, but the security of the country must come before addressing issues like health care.

“This is his number one priority. Keep in mind, dealing with health care is nice, dealing with the economy is nice. The president’s first responsibility is to defend the integrity and safety of the nation. And we really do believe — and I think, again, most folks are starting to agree with us now — that the situation at the border is a national security crisis.”

Last week, the president rolled back his threats to completely close the southern border after he saw an uptick the response to the migrant crisis from Mexico, however, the president has left the option of adding tariffs onto Mexican goods, should the situation change.

Trump Attorney Slams Democrats for Using the ‘IRS as a Political Weapon,’ Says They May Take Them to Court

Jay Sekulow, President Donald Trump’s attorney, called out Democrats for what he believes is a politically motivated use of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to try and publically release the personal tax returns of the president and his businesses.

During a Sunday interview on “ABC This Week” with George Stephanopoulos, Sekulow claimed that Democrats using the IRS as a “weapon” to attack President Trump after the summary from the Mueller report revealed there was no evidence for collusion. He claimed this could set off a tit-for-tat abuse of the IRS.

“That you can use the IRS as a political weapon, which is what is happening here is incorrect as a matter of statutory law and constitutionally. We should not be in a situation where individuals, individual tax returns are used for political purposes. And as you just said, George, what stops another party from doing the same thing.”

Stephanopoulos questioned if the president was planning to use this moment as an opportunity to go after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) or other Democrats who have yet to release their own tax documents, to which Sekulow fired back.

“No! No, he hasn’t. Congress has,” said Sekulow. “The majority party in the House has, but the president has not.”

Sekulow explained that the use of a Ways and Means hearing to extract the president’s IRS information could be met with litigation.

“This idea that you’re using a hearing, a Ways and Means hearing about IRS enforcement as a way to get to the president’s private individual and business tax returns makes no sense both constitutionally and statutorily and look, this I think is going to be, if necessary — we’re not at that point yet — if it has to be litigated, it will be litigated.”

For now, it isn’t clear what will happen next. The White House has requested that the IRS wait to turn over the documents to Congress until the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel has given a legal opinion on the matter. It is up to the IRS to wait or move forward with the request.

Turns out Pentagon was bombarded with ‘whistleblower complaint every 6 minutes’ – Lee Camp

A recent report shows that the Pentagon is pretty much buried with scores of whistleblower complaints. On his show Redacted Tonight, Lee Camp explained why the huge number of people sounding the alarm is not surprising.

Camp opened the show by citing a recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that found the Pentagon received a whopping 95,613 whistleblower alerts between 2013 and 2018.

“That averages out to a whistleblower every six minutes of every business day for five straight years – that waiting room must be insane!” he said.

As astonishing as that number might seem, the amount of people sounding the alarm within the system is not really surprising, Camp noted – considering the previous multiple reports of the military losing track of trillions of dollars.

Also on rt.com The Pentagon failed its audit amid a $21 trillion scandal (yes, trillion) – Lee Camp

In fact, last year’s government audit revealed that the Pentagon “lost and found” 39 Black Hawk helicopters and over 470 buildings within the Air Force that weren’t properly registered as its property, he said.

The Pentagon has a standard operating procedure of simply making up numbers to fill their books, which for normal human being is termed ‘fraud.’
