Happy Easter From CARM
“Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again,’” (Luke 24:5b-7)
The death and resurrection of Jesus are at the very heart of the Christian faith. Together they form the central moment in all of redemptive history! Jesus died as our substitute, paying the price for the sins of all who believe in Him alone for salvation, He rose again and conquered death on our behalf, securing for us eternal life! There is no greater gift, and nothing more worthy of remembrance and celebration!
Each day in the life of a follower of Jesus ought to be a conscious expression of gratitude to our Lord for this incredible reality. We also set aside times of special remembrance. Communion, for example, symbolizes the broken body and shed blood of our Lord and reminds us of His sacrifice on our behalf. “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes,” (1 Corinthians 11:16). Since the earliest days of the church, Christians have likewise gathered on Sundayin honor of Jesus’ resurrection. Easter is a time to celebrate the cross, the empty tomb, and Christ’s glorious victory over sin and death!
