April 22 The Miracle of Restoration

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 53:6–9

Key Verse: Isaiah 53:6

All we like sheep have gone astray;

We have turned, every one, to his own way;

And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Salvation is eternally linked to Jesus Christ. It was His death on Calvary’s cross that paid the penalty for our sin. Nothing we can do equals what Jesus did for us. This is why the apostle Paul wrote that salvation is a gift.

The word grace is also linked to the message of salvation. The grace of God is His goodness manifested toward us. No one, on his own, is worthy of God’s salvation. “All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him” (Isaiah 53:6 nasb).

We are saved by God’s grace—His goodness demonstrated toward us. And those God saves, He keeps. He will not cast us away or refuse us the love that He so willingly gives. However, believers need to be mindful that sin steals the joy that salvation brings.

Even if you have known Christ for many years, sin will darken your life and blind you to the wonder of God’s grace. After his sin with Bathsheba, David prayed, “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation” (Psalm 51:12).

Joy is the evidence of God’s work in our lives. Sin brings His displeasure and judgment, but obedience brings joy to our hearts. David did not ask God merely to make him happy. He prayed for the restoration of joy, which is more than an emotional expression. It is the evidence of a heart that found its contentment in God.

Lord, thank You for Your unchanging promise—eternal life through Jesus Christ. Thank You for the gift of salvation secured at the Cross.[1]

What the Gospel Is — Denny Burk

Evangelicals sometimes have ways of speaking and communicating that actually leave out crucial aspects of the gospel. Perhaps the following scenario will be familiar to you.

A parent comes to me and says, “Pastor, my 8-year old child wants to meet with you about getting baptized.” We agree to meet, I sit down with the parent and with the child, and I say, “Johnny, why do you want to get baptized?” He replies, “Because I don’t want to go to hell.” I clarify, “Yes, but Johnny, getting baptized doesn’t save you. You have to accept Jesus into your heart in order to be saved.” Johnny askes, “How do I do that?” I reply, “All you have to do is ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and then ask Him to come into your heart.” And so we kneel and pray, and Johnny asks Jesus to forgive him of his sins and to come and live in his heart. We make arrangements for his baptism on the very next Sunday, and all’s well that ends well, right?

Wrong. What do I fail to mention in my “gospel” presentation to Johnny? I never mentioned anything about the death and resurrection of Jesus, and neither did Johnny. Perhaps I was assuming that he already understood all that. But that is precisely the problem. We cannot make assumptions that people know the gospel—especially the part about the death and resurrection of Jesus for sinners. If you leave that out, you are leaving out the very thing that Paul says is of “first importance” in his gospel preaching. You would be leaving out the part of the message that actually accomplishes our salvation.

Don’t assume the gospel. What is assumed in one generation will be forgotten in the next. If your gospel proclamation does not contain at its heart the announcement of Jesus Christ crucified and raised for sinners, then it is not gospel proclamation. And if it’s not gospel proclamation, then no one will be saved. And there’s no consequence more grave than that.

That is why it is so important for us to master what the Apostle Paul says is of “first importance”—the gospel.

3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

There is perhaps no other place in scripture that offers a more succinct summary of the gospel than what Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. This gospel has at least six characteristics. It is first of all…

1. Pre-eminent: “as of first importance.”

This means that of everything that Paul taught the Corinthians, there is nothing more important than the gospel. It doesn’t matter what else you get right. If you get this message wrong, then everything else is wrong too. This is of “first importance” because to fumble this is to fumble salvation. There is no authentic Christianity apart from the gospel rightly preached and rightly believed.

2. Apostolic: “For I delivered to you… what I also received”

The language that Paul uses here (delivering… receiving) is stock terminology among the ancient rabbis for the giving and the receiving of authoritative tradition. In this case, Paul is not talking about what has been handed down from rabbis but a message that has come down to him from the apostles. Paul received a direct revelation of the gospel on the Damascus road in his encounter with Jesus. But in this text, he accesses traditional material that has been handed down from the apostles to express what the gospel is. This shows that the message Paul preaches is in keeping with that of the other apostles. That means that the message you and I preach had better be in keeping with the apostles as well. Which means that it needs to be in agreement with the scriptures.

3. Event: “that Christ died… that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day… and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve”

Notice that the gospel we believe is the announcement of events that are focused on the life and ministry of Jesus. There are four phrases introduced by the word “that,” and those phrases indicate the death, burial, resurrection, and appearances of Jesus. The two core events of Paul’s gospel are the ones identified as “in accordance with the Scriptures.” In particular, the core consists in the death and resurrection of Jesus. The burial part confirms that he was dead. The appearances confirm that he was raised. But the core of the story is the death and resurrection of Jesus. If your gospel presentation doesn’t include the death and resurrection of Jesus, then it is not the gospel.

4. Biblical: “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures… that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures”

The two chief parts of the gospel narrative—the death and resurrection of Jesus—are both in accordance with the Old Testament scriptures. The death and resurrection of Christ are prophesied in a number of Old Testament texts. Perhaps the death of Jesus is most prominently set forth in Isaiah 53, where the prophet says,

Isa. 53:5-105 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities… 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? 9 And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief…”

Likewise, Jesus’ resurrection is anticipated in Isaiah 53 as well:

Isa. 53:10-12
10 …when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

Here, the dying servant “shall see his offspring” and “shall prolong his days.” He “shall see and be satisfied” after his sufferings. The suffering servant will be awarded “a portion with the many” and “makes intercession for the transgressors.” These statements are premised on the idea that the servant will experience life after suffering. They portend a resurrection from the death.

Jesus’ death and resurrection are not God’s Plan B. They are Plan A from before the foundation of the world (Acts 2:23), and that plan was prophetically disclosed centuries before the actual events took place.

5. Personal: “Christ died for our sins”

If this part weren’t true, then none of the rest of it would matter. Christ’s work wasn’t simply a set of events. His death and resurrection were fundamentally for us. The text says that “Christ died for our sins.” This means that Jesus’ death actually accomplished something. This “means that Christ died in the place of sinners and took their sins upon himself in his death” (Schreiner). Paul expresses this truth in different ways elsewhere:

2 Cor. 5:21 “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Gal. 3:13 “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us…”

Rom. 5:6 “Christ died for the ungodly”

Rom. 5:8 “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Christ did what he did for sinners. It was personal for sinners. And it is only good news to us sinners because it was for us. Jesus died in our place and took a penalty that we deserved. Because of Christ’s substitutionary work on the cross, God offers us forgiveness of our sins.

6. Historical: 5 he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

The appearance to Peter may be the one reported in Luke 24:34, where the two disciples who had walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus report, “The Lord has really risen, and has appeared to Simon.” The appearance to “the Twelve” is difficult to nail down (Schreiner). Is he talking about an appearance to the Twelve all at once? How would that be possible if Judas was already dead and only eleven of them were left? Perhaps his appearance to the Twelve didn’t happen all at once.

Is it a problem that there were no longer “Twelve” apostles for Jesus to appear to? John refers to the apostles as “the Twelve” even after Judas’ death in John 20:24 even though Judas was already dead. So we may need to be careful not to press the number 12 when trying to identify “the Twelve.” “The Twelve” may be just a reference to the apostles, which would then make sense of the appearance to “all the apostles” in verse 7, which may be a reference to Jesus’ appearance to all the apostles including Thomas in John 20:26-29 (or perhaps Luke 24:36-53).

What is remarkable is that Jesus appeared to so many after his resurrection.

6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep.

It is very unlikely that 500 people would have the exact same hallucination at the exact same time. This is a lot of people, and Paul is saying that although some of them have died, many of them are still alive to check this by. These are eyewitnesses, and they are still alive at the time Paul is writing this a couple decades after Jesus’ death and resurrection.

7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

This would be James, the half-brother of Jesus (Matt. 13:55; Gal. 1:19), the leader of the church in Jerusalem, who was not a believer apparently until after the resurrection (John 7:5). He is mentioned in this list because he was “one of the most respected leaders in the early Christian church” (Schreiner). So James’ testimony carries weight.

8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

Finally, Paul talks about his own encounter with Jesus on the Damascus road. The ESV says that Paul is like one who was “untimely born,” but the word may actually mean one who is “abnormally born” (Schreiner). It was abnormal because it would have be totally unexpected for someone like Paul—a Pharisee and persecutor of the church—to come to faith in Christ. And yet he did. And he got to see Jesus with his own two eyes.

So the gospel is preeminent, apostolic, event, biblical, personal, and historical. Is this the gospel that you know? Is this this gospel that you believe? Is this the gospel that you share with others? I hope and pray that it is because this is the only gospel that there is and because this is the only that gospel that saves.

April 22 Eternally Secure

Scripture Reading: 1 John 5:10–13

Key Verse: Ephesians 1:13

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.

Perhaps more than ever, our age is security conscious. We like the reassurance of a healthy savings account. We like the benefits that come from working for a supposedly solid company. We treasure the comfort and strength of a good marriage. Yet we must admit that even the biggest savings account can run dry, the best company can go under, and the healthiest marriage can fragment.

God wants us to look to Him for our security. He alone is the cornerstone, the rock, the stronghold, the fortress, the shelter in whom we can find safety, peace, and protection.

You are secure in your position in Him. You are “in Christ,” placed there by God Himself. He will keep you forever. Because you are a joint heir with Christ, all the blessings of heaven are yours.

Your eternal destination is fixed. Heaven is your home; no sin can change that once you place your faith in Christ.

Your past sins and mistakes have been thoroughly forgiven through Christ’s shed blood. You are a new creature in Christ. The old things have passed away.

You can carry your present problems and challenges to Him in prayer, and He promises to help and sustain you. He upholds you with His eternal grip of love. If you are looking for security, look to Christ. He never changes.

Precious Lord, I am secure in You; my eternal destination is fixed; my sins and mistakes are forgiven. I can take my problems and challenges to You, and You uphold me with the eternal grip of Your love. Thank You, Father.[1]

BABY TALK: Coca-Cola, Ford, And Xerox Make Stunning Announcement That They Will No Longer Donate To Planned Parenthood — Now The End Begins

Three corporate giants from completely different industries have made a shocking announcement. Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Co. and Xerox stated that they no longer donate to Planned Parenthood.

In 1921, when Margaret Sanger started the American Birth Control League based on the Nazi theories of eugenics, she knew she was onto something big. Her baby killing start-up became Planned Parenthood in 1942, and with the passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973, taxpayer-funded abortion became a billion dollar business.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, thatI have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV)

Everything hummed along pretty good until the videos showing Planned Parenthood executives making money off the sale of aborted baby parts, which was then followed by multistate investigations of corruption and black market fetal tissue sales. One by one, Planned Parenthood’s big money donors began to pull away and distance themselves from what most people can clearly see – the end of Planned Parenthood.

COCA-COLA, FORD AND XEROX BOLDLY ANNOUNCE: ‘WE NO LONGER DONATE TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD’

FROM THINK AMERICANA: Planned Parenthood has been falsely advertising that the companies do still donate, on their website. Once brought to the companies’ attention, they have each asked the abortion business to immediately remove their names from the list of corporate donors.

A Coca-Cola representative confirmed to the The Daily Signal that they do not donate to Planned Parenthood as a company, and they also do not match donations given by employees. “We’ll ask them to correct the information,” the representative said in relation to their name being on the donor website.

Similarly, a Ford representative stated, “We are making sure that Ford Motor Company is not listed as a Planned Parenthood contributor on their website. In addition, we do not offer an employee match for charitable contributions.”

A representative from Xerox, who was also listed as a corporate donor, said “We checked our files for the last 20 years and have no record of Xerox Corp. contributing to Planned Parenthood.”

I wonder how many other companies used to donate to Planned Parenthood in the past, but have since stopped, are still listed as corporate donors.

Planned Parenthood parades around, waving their list of supporters, but their list is not even updated or accurate. Their biggest scare tactic is their giant backing. However, their bluff is crumbling quickly as the truth comes out. READ MORE

Spygate and The Steele Dossier Were The Cover Story – The Real Issue is Years of Obama-era Surveillance and Political Spy Operations… — The Last Refuge

If you read the Weissmann/Mueller report carefully one aspect stands out strongly; the Mueller investigation was fully committed to The Steele Dossier.  An inordinate amount of the report is focused on justifying their investigative validity and purpose in looking at the claims within the Steele Dossier.

Repeatedly, the investigative unit references their mandate based around the Steele Dossier, and the mid-summer 2016 origin of the FBI counterintelligence operation.

Why?  Why was/is Crossfire Hurricane (July ’16) and the Steele Dossier (Oct. ’16) so important to the principle intelligence apparatus, and the Mueller team (’17, ’18, ’19)?

I believe former NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers has told us the answer.  In early 2016 Rogers caught on to a massive and pre-existing weaponization of government surveillance and the use of collected NSA metadata for political spy operations.  Everything, that comes AFTER March 2016 is one big blanket cover-up operation….. ALL OF IT.

The Russian election interference narrative; the use of Joseph Mifsud, Stefan Halper, the London and Australian embassy personnel; Erika Thompson, Alexander Downer, U.S. DIA officials; everything around Crossfire Hurricane; and everything after to include the construct of the Steele Dossier; all of it was needed for the creation of an ‘after-the-fact‘  plausible justification to cover-up what Mike Rogers discovered in early 2016, AND the downstream unmasked records that existed in the Obama White House SCIF.

Fusion GPS was not hired in April 2016 to research Donald Trump.  The intelligence community was already doing surveillance and spy operations. They already knew everything about the Trump campaign. The Obama intelligence community needed Fusion GPS to give them a justification for pre-existing surveillance and spy operations.

That’s why the FBI, and later the Mueller team, are so strongly committed to, and defending, the formation of the Steele Dossier and its dubious content.

On Pages #11 and #12 of the Weissmann/Mueller report, the special counsel team outlines the purpose and intent of the probe as delivered by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Within these pages Mueller outlines the August 2nd Scope Memo that has previously been hidden and remains redacted through today.

Read the highlighted portion carefully to understand the scope of the instructions. Note the careful wording “the Special Counsel had been authorized since his appointment to investigate allegations”… This means from Day #1 of the special counsel, the scope of the probe was always to investigate the claims within the Ohr/Steele Dossier:

The August 2nd Scope Memo additionally authorized the investigation of “certain other matters” specifically relating to Manafort (financial crimes), and Papadopolous and Flynn (FARA violations).

These paragraphs tell us a great deal about what originated the purpose of the FBI investigation and the continued purpose of the special counsel. Remember, the special counsel was a continuance of the FBI counterintelligence operation which officially began on July 31st, 2016. [The unofficial beginning was much earlier]

Understanding now that Mueller is saying from Day One he was investigating the Steele Dossier; here’s where we all need to question the assumptions.

Why is the Steele Dossier so important?

From the beginning most people have thought the Fusion-GPS objective was to dig up dirt on Trump for political exploitation. However, with all the recent information outlined there’s actually a more significant role for Fusion.

The overall intelligence apparatus of the U.S. government was already conducting political surveillance on their political opposition. The systems of the intelligence apparatus such as FISA-702(16)(17) databases searches were being exploited months (if not years) beforehand.

When NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers discovered the use of the database he shut down contractor access on April 18th, 2016.

When Fusion GPS was hired by the DNC and Clinton team; also in April of 2016 immediately following the shut-down of FBI contractor access; it now appears the purpose was to provide cover for government surveillance already taking place. Perhaps part of that motive was fear of what NSA Mike Rogers might do.

The Obama administration (U.S. government intelligence apparatus) needed an external source of information that could cover their domestic surveillance and spy operations. That’s why Fusion GPS was hired, and why emphasis was put on using European and Australian intelligence contacts to create the plausible process to continue surveillance that was always taking place.

This corrupt weaponizing of the U.S. intelligence apparatus is MUCH BIGGER than anyone currently absorbs. The Steele Dossier was an eventual part of the cover-story.

When Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were discussing the “insurance policy” in August 2016, they were not discussing insurance from the perspective of their success, ie. Clinton elected; they were discussing insurance from the position of: if they failed.

If Clinton was elected, great; everything continues as normal. However, if Clinton was not elected the weaponization of government needed a cover story, a plausible legitimate reason for why political surveillance/spying was taking place. This is the insurance policy need…. This is why they needed the Steele Dossier.

Regardless of anything happening to stop them, the intelligence community was conducting surveillance of their political opposition. To validate that surveillance the intelligence community needed a plausible FBI counterintelligence operation. That’s where John Brennan (CIA) comes in.

Brennan manufactured the plausible excuse for an FBI operation to begin through the use of “unofficial channels” via Joseph Mifsud, Stefan Halper and eventually Alexander Downer via an Australian intelligence asset Erika Thompson; who was working in London with U.S. intelligence assets Terrence Dudley and Greg Baker, ie. the “Papadopoulos operation”.

While the overseas operation was working to create plausible explanation and start Crossfire Hurricane, back in the U.S. Fusion-GPS was contracted to supplement the appearances for a domestic parallel track. Fusion ran operations for the Russian appearances inside the U.S., ex. Trump Tower meeting.

For their effort, Fusion was using previously extracted FISA-702(16)(17) results to create more supportive evidence and plausible material. That Fusion effort led to the Steele Dossier.

However, in a similar way the Brennan operation needed the Australian Diplomat Alexander Downer to cross from “unofficial” into “official” channels, the Steele Dossier needs a way to cross from “unofficial opposition research” into “official investigative product” status.

Enter the FISA warrant and Carter Page.

A FISA warrant that could be built upon the Steele Dossier was what they needed.

The Steele Dossier is the investigative virus the FBI wanted inside the system. To get the virus into official status, they used the FISA application as the delivery method and injected it into Carter Page. The FBI already knew Carter Page; essentially Carter Page was irrelevant, what they needed was the Dossier in the system {Go Deep}.

With the communication from Alexander Downer (foundation for the EC), in conjunction with the Steele Dossier (foundation for the Page FISA), the CIA and FBI now held a plausible -albeit fraudulently obtained- basis to explain/justify all of their 2015 and 2016 political spying and surveillance activity. This is their insurance policy.

If Hillary wins the election, everything just evaporates into the ether. However, if Hillary loses the election – the fraudulent investigative evidence now protects all of the players for their role in weaponized intelligence spying and surveillance operations.

Andrew Weissmann was/is one of the DOJ participants who is well aware of the status of the operations as they proceed. In 2016 and 2017 Weissmann is being briefed by DOJ official Bruce Ohr who is carrying messages from Fusion-GPS and Chris Steele into the FBI.

Fraudulent justifications.

Just like the Susan Rice justification Memo, fraudulent justifications are what’s behind those paragraphs in the Rosenstein scope memos as delivered to Weissmann and Mueller.

Fusion GPS was not hired to research Trump, the intelligence community was already doing surveillance and spy operations. The intelligence community needed Fusion GPS to give them a plausible justification for already existing surveillance and spy operations.

See the difference?

Fusion-GPS gave them the justification they needed with the Steele Dossier.

That’s why the Steele Dossier is so important in the scope memos.

Why we are not “Easter Worshipers” and why it matters

The End Time

By Elizabeth Prata

Words matter. The words we choose to use form a basis for discourse, in teaching, and through the exchanging of ideas in a civil society.

I’ve said this many times, but when a group in one culture decides to dispense with or change the meaning of words the rest of us have commonly understood for centuries, it’s important to pay attention to the shift in meaning. The intentional use or disuse of certain vocabulary words within a language is different from the natural evolution of language. Just think Shakespeare. In Shakespeare’s day, the commonly used alack for oh no! fell into natural disuse. We don’t say alack any more. What I’m talking about today is the intentional changing of a commonly understood term.

Communication is all about creating meaning based on comprehension of what commonly understood words mean. When those meanings change, our perceptions change too.

April 22 Experiencing God’s Best

Scripture reading: Luke 12:22–32

Key verse: James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Everything we do in life requires a decision. Some have said that even when we refuse to make a decision, we have decided what we will or will not do. The same is true when it comes to experiencing God’s best for our lives.

Jesus taught us that it was God’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom of God. This means that all we could ever hope or want is ours to enjoy. Of course, there are guidelines for us to follow.

For example, God will never give us things that lead to self-indulgence and greed. On the other hand, there are many Christians living in spiritual poverty because they have never learned to enjoy the goodness of God’s blessing.

This in no way solely focuses on financial wealth, though God may choose to bless many in this area. Nor does it mean that we should feel guilty when God blesses us in some area of material value. God’s blessings are not limited to any one category. They are endless, and it is our responsibility to enjoy them when they come.

Therefore, instead of denying the gifts He sends your way, ask the Lord to help you correctly handle them so that He will be glorified in your life. Jesus taught us that God gives good things to His children. Therefore, never refuse His gifts when they come because each one is wrapped in eternal love for you.

Thank You for Your precious gifts to me, dear Lord. They are wrapped in Your eternal love for me. I praise You for each one![1]

That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever.” —Thomas Jefferson (1781)

To boost the computing power, the researchers managed to squeeze two processor cores into one cell.

One church, two popes: why Catholicism is in crisis this Easter
Benedict has by and large kept a respectful silence, ignoring the ever louder pleas of traditionalist Catholics who want the 92-year-old to join them in opposing Francis’s reform agenda. That changed earlier this month, when Benedict published a 6,000-word article in a German magazine. It made headlines by blaming the clerical abuse scandal on the moral relativism of the 1960s sexual revolution, and the “homosexual cliques” that allowed this “lawlessness” to infect seminaries. It is a line of argument that directly – and, conservative cardinals insist, pointedly – contradicts all Francis’s efforts.

When antibiotics were first used in the 1940s they were a revolution in medicine.
