July 10 How to Handle Loneliness

Scripture Reading: Psalm 40:1–8

Key Verse: Psalm 40:2

He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,

Out of the miry clay,

And set my feet upon a rock,

And established my steps.

Regardless of how many people surround us, we can feel lonely. Numerous friends and family are not always the answer to squelching those feelings of loneliness in our lives. While we need to be alone from time to time, there is a difference between being alone and loneliness. Being alone is purposeful, a time of self-discovery, healing, and calming. Loneliness, however, causes anxiety and cannot be ignored because of its consequences.

Many times in an effort to avoid feeling lonely, we enter into relationships that are not God’s best for us. Whenever we compromise our convictions, trouble and loneliness increase. Looking to anyone other than God in the midst of our loneliness leads to disappointment and a greater sense of anxiety.

When God’s people have a desperate need, He is quick to offer true hope. God desires to be your all in all, the One who fulfills your deepest needs and desires, including the desire to be loved, not lonely. Only He can love you the way you need to be loved.

Lord, I picture Your loving arms around me in times of loneliness. No one but You can fill the void in my heart, and I turn to You.[1]

July 10 Unworthiness

Scripture Reading: Psalm 103

Key Verse: Isaiah 43:25

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.

God never ridicules us or makes us feel unworthy. Instead, we read these words of Jesus:

Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. (John 15:9 nasb)

If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:31–32 nasb)

I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15 nasb)

Love and truth. God is love and the source of all truth. The love He has for you is the same love He has for His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He gives you this love through His grace and mercy. It is a pure love, not tainted by guilt or obligation.

Regardless of how deep your past transgression may be, God is near to free you with the truth of His Word. Nothing is stronger than His love. When He forgives, He forgets (Ps. 103:12; Isa. 43:25). Once you have confessed sin, there is no need to beg or plead for His forgiveness. It is a done deal!

You can walk freely in the light of His love because He calls you His child. Your life is inscribed within the palm of His hand.

You are the apple of His eye; all of heaven rejoices at the sight of your name written in the Lamb’s blood.

Dear God, thank You that I am worthy! I walk freely in the light of Your love. I am Your child, the apple of Your eye. My name is written in the Lamb’s blood. I belong.[1]

July 10 Fear and Faith

Scripture reading: Judges 7:1–23

Key verse: Judges 7:21

And every man stood in his place all around the camp; and the whole army ran and cried out and fled.

Judges 7 provides insight for those of us facing overwhelming circumstances. Gideon’s army was surrounded and completely outnumbered by the enemy. The odds were definitely stacked against him. In the heat of the moment, it would have been understandable for him to panic and become frightened, but he didn’t.

Fear is the opposite of faith. It is also one of the surest routes to defeat and discouragement. God told Gideon to send those struggling with fear away from the others because fear paralyzes people. A lion in the jungle doesn’t just stalk his prey; he comes up on it and looks it in the eye. He literally paralyzes it with fear so that it becomes an easy lunch.

Fear and faith are not compatible. If left unchecked, fear quickly turns into anxiety and worry. Once the fear issue was dealt with, God began to work in a mighty way. He guided Gideon as to whom to take into battle with him.

Because of Israel’s willingness to trust in the Lord, God delivered the people from their attackers by throwing the enemy into total confusion. The victory was won by faith. If the odds are stacked against you, there is really only one thing you can do to experience complete victory, and that is to place your trust in the One who will never let you down—the Lord Jesus Christ.

I know fear and faith are not compatible, Lord. So please, replace my fear with confident faith in You.[1]

On the cross above Jesus’ head was the sign “INRI”- “Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaeorvm”, which means in Latin- Jesus of Nazareth king of the Jews! The Bible say that Jesus was born and raised in Judea! ”

Major Red Flags Are Causing Many To Doubt Whether Justice Will Be Done In The Epstein Sex Scandal | ZeroHedge

Authored by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog,

It won’t just be Jeffrey Epstein that will be on trial in the months ahead.  As this scandal unfolds, the entire U.S. legal system will be on trial, and if justice does not prevail many Americans will lose faith in the system for good.

And of course the rest of the world will be watching too, and so what are they supposed to think about us if we are not able to put Epstein and all of his dirty friends in prison?  As I detailed in part three of this series, the evidence against Jeffrey Epstein and his partners in crime is mounting.  If Jeffrey Epstein is put behind bars that will be a step in the right direction, but it will not nearly be enough.

At this point it is exceedingly clear to everyone in America that many of Epstein’s famous friends also regularly had sex with underage girls, and they must be held accountable.  In my most recent book I talked about how fundamentally broken our current legal system is, but if federal prosecutors are able to nail Epstein and all of his elite friends that were involved in these sex crimes, I might have to reconsider my position.

However, at this point I am not holding my breath.

Let me try to explain why.  As I have already discussed in this series, one of Epstein’s closest friends during the heyday of “the Lolita Express” was Bill Clinton.  And it turns out that the federal judge that will be presiding over Epstein’s case was appointed to his position by Clinton in 1998

Richard Berman was appointed by Bill Clinton in 1998. He presided over Dinesh D’Souza’s case where D’Souza was convicted of re-imbursing friends to evade campaign contribution limits in a New York election.

Meanwhile, disgraced former FBI director James Comey’s daughter Maurene is one of the prosecutors in the case.

So will Berman recuse himself?

He should, but I doubt that it will actually happen.

Also, the fact that James Comey’s daughter is one of the prosecutors is a major red flag.  I have a gnawing suspicion that something is up, and hopefully I am wrong.

But on a positive note, it was encouraging to see prosecutors call for anyone that has “information about Epstein’s conduct to come forward”

U.S. prosecutors on Monday encouraged anyone with information about Epstein’s conduct to come forward, not just potential victims. To the socialites, celebrities and politicians who attended lavish parties at Epstein’s homes in Manhattan or Palm Beach in the early 2000s or hitched rides on his private jet nicknamed the “Lolita Express” by the tabloids the request carried a clear message: Come talk to us before we seek you out.

And I was also greatly encouraged by the fact that the feds have already announced that more of Epstein’s accusers have already come forward since his arrest…

In the hours since Mr. Epstein’s arrest, prosecutors said, several other women contacted them with complaints about Mr. Epstein. Some of those accusers had never previously spoken to the government, prosecutors said.

Several of Mr. Epstein’s accusers said they were relieved that authorities seemed to be taking their complaints seriously after many years.

Nailing Epstein should be pretty easy, and things got even easier for prosecutors after a “treasure trove” of photographic evidence was found during a raid on Epstein’s New York home.

The tricky part will be nailing Epstein’s famous friends.  In the old days he regularly partied with some of the biggest names in America, and going after them will not be easy.

But it must be done, because the reputation of our entire nation is at stake.  If the rich and famous can sexually abuse underage girls for years and get away with it, how are any of us supposed to have faith in the system?

According to Miami Herald reporter Julie Brown, Epstein and his dirty friends liked to prey on young girls that were as vulnerable as possible

In a November investigation led by Miami Herald reporter Julie Brown, about 80 victims were identified as having been abused by Epstein from 2001 to 2006. The Herald spoke with eight of the accusers. It found:

Most of the girls came from disadvantaged families, single-parent homes or foster care. Some had experienced troubles that belied their ages: They had parents and friends who committed suicide; mothers abused by husbands and boyfriends; fathers who molested and beat them. One girl had watched her stepfather strangle her 8-year-old stepbrother, according to court records obtained by the Herald. Many of the girls were one step away from homelessness.

Whoever was involved in sexually abusing these vulnerable young girls needs to go to prison.  And if it was up to me, their punishment would be a lot worse than that.

Many people out there seem to be convinced that there is no way that these sexual predators will get away this time.  Personally, I am not so sure.  They have the money to hire the best lawyers in the entire country, and we can already see evidence that an effort is being made to protect certain individuals.  For example, a Wikipedia entry for Jeffrey Epstein was suspiciously altered on Sunday

The sentence, “Epstein flew Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, and Chris Tucker to Africa in his private jet. Flight records show Bill Clinton flew on Epstein’s plane 26 times,” was removed Sunday.

The edit was made one day before Bill Clinton denied flying on the jet so often, and instead, said he only flew on it four times.

Meanwhile, a sentence mentioning the fact Epstein “attended parties” with Donald Trump was left unaltered.

We shall see how this drama plays out in the months ahead, but anything short of putting all these perverts in prison is going to be a defeat.

The sick and evil behavior of the elite is finally being revealed for all the world to see, and the things that we will learn as more evidence comes out will likely shock all of us.  As Michelle Goldberg has aptly noted, we are about to discover “how rotten our rulers really are”…

In a detention memo submitted on Monday, federal prosecutors outlined some of the evidence seized from a search of Epstein’s house on Saturday night. It included hundreds — possibly thousands — of sexually suggestive photographs of girls who appear underage, as well as hand-labeled compact discs with titles like “Girl pics nude,” and, with the names redacted, “Young [Name] + [Name].”

It seems, at first, astonishingly reckless for Epstein not just to allegedly keep such material, but to keep it in Manhattan, instead of, say, on his private Caribbean island. Maybe, however, it’s simply a sign of how protected he felt. “In my mind there has always been this huge question mark: What is Jeffrey Epstein’s leverage?” Ward said. If we find out, we’ll know just how rotten our rulers really are.

I would really like to believe that all of the bad guys are going to go to prison, but I have seen our legal system fail so many times before.

Perhaps that is the case that will finally turn things around.

Perhaps we will finally see some of the biggest names in America brought to justice.

The whole world is watching, and we cannot afford to get this one wrong.

July 10, 2019 Afternoon Verse Of The Day

Ver. 12.—As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. God’s mercy is the cause, the removal of sin the result. The two are commensurate, and are “described by the largest measures which the earth can afford”[1]

12. “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” O glorious verse, no word even upon the inspired page can excel it! Sin is removed from us by a miracle of love! What a load to move, and yet is it removed so far that the distance is incalculable. Fly as far as the wing of imagination can bear you, and if you journey through space eastward, you are further from the west at every beat of your wing. If sin be removed so far, then we may be sure that the scent, the trace, the very memory of it must be entirely gone. If this be the distance of its removal, there is no shade of fear of its ever being brought back again; even Satan himself could not achieve such a task. Our sins are gone, Jesus has borne them away. Far as the place of sunrise is removed from yonder west, where the sun sinks when his day’s journey is done, so far were our sins carried by our scapegoat nineteen centuries ago, and now if they be sought for, they shall not be found, yea, they shall not be, saith the Lord. Come, my soul, awaken thyself thoroughly and glorify the Lord for this richest of blessings. Hallelujah. The Lord alone could remove sin at all, and he has done it in a godlike fashion, making a final sweep of all our transgressions.[2]

103:12 as far as the east is from the west. When God forgives sins, He completely removes them. The height and breadth of His mercy are vast.[3]

The Left Has Managed To Mainstream Anti-Americanism — The Federalist

From the repudiation of the Fourth of July to calls for reparations, anti-Americanism that once was belonged to the far-left is now mainstream.

A recent profile of Rep. Illan Omar by the Washington Post made waves because of its revelation that the congresswoman lied to a group of high school studentsabout witnessing racism and injustice in a Minneapolis courtroom. In an anecdote lifted almost verbatim from the plot of “Les Miserables,” Omar claimed she saw a “sweet, old… African American lady,” who had spent the weekend in jail for stealing a $2 loaf of bread to feed her “starving 5-year-old granddaughter,” handed an $80 fine. Omar, unable to control her emotions, blurted out, “Bullsh—t!” in the courtroom.

But Omar’s lies aren’t nearly as revealing as when she tells the truth. In that same speech to the high schoolers, she said “I grew up in an extremely unjust society, and the only thing that made my family excited about coming to the United States was that the United States was supposed to be the country that guaranteed justice to all. So, I feel it necessary for me to speak about that promise that’s not kept.”

The promise that’s not kept. Consider the disconnect between that statement, the seething resentment behind it, and the reality of Omar’s own life story. Indeed, it’s hard to imagine an American success story more demonstrative of America keeping its promise. Omar’s family fled civil war in Somalia when she was a child and spent four poverty-stricken years in a Kenyan refugee camp before the United States, in its generosity, granted them admission to America as refugees.

Here, safe from the violence and chaos of their home country, they flourished. Omar received a college education, started a family, won election to the Minnesota State House at age 34, and two years later, became a member of Congress.

The Left Has an Inverted View of America

What, one wonders, does Omar have to say for the country that has given her so much? Mostly, that it has failed to be the Hollywood utopia she was promised as a child, that “the classless America that my father talked about didn’t exist.” Of course it didn’t exist. There’s no such thing as a classless society, anywhere. That’s something everyone learns, or should learn, as they become an adult and encounter the real world.

Instead, Omar takes it as evidence that America is based on a massive lie—a promise not kept, as if America actually promised a classless society free from inequality, poverty, and the manifold trials of human existence. According to this way of thinking, past mistakes and injustices, whether in foreign policy or civil rights, simply reveal the hypocrisy of America’s founding ideals. The United States was fatally flawed from the beginning, conceived in sin, and deserves only damnation.

Such thinking is now commonplace and mainstream. Witness the recent Fourth of July scrum of sports stars and media outlets quoting—and utterly misunderstanding—Frederick Douglass’s famous speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”

The Washington Post, Time Magazine, and former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick all cited the 1852 speech as a condemnation of America for its hypocrisy, confirming their present-day animus toward their country. WBUR Boston ran a commentary piece from a young black woman about why she doesn’t celebrate the Fourth, citing Douglass’s speech and declaring the holiday “a festivity with no substance, a celebration with no soul.”

They are of course wrong. Douglass concludes his condemnation of American slavery with an appeal to America’s founding. The Constitution, he writes (in all caps), “is a “GLORIOUS LIBERTY DOCUMENT” and the principles of the Declaration of Independence are to him a source of hope. He wrote and believed this in the face of American injustice and oppression incomparably worse than anything we have today. So did Martin Luther King Jr., for whom the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were a “promissory note to which every American was to fall heir.”

For Social Justice Warriors, America’s Promise Is a Lie

This is not how elites in academia, media, entertainment, and the Democratic Party see America today. That’s why corporations like Nike repudiate American symbols like the Betsy Ross flag at the slightest provocation. That’s why Democrats, including several major presidential candidates, now support reparations for slavery (Sen. Elizabeth Warren even claims America owes reparations for denying tax breaks to gay couples before the legalization of same-sex marriage). That’s why NBC News thought fit to publish a story about how Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s great-great-grandfather owned slaves, and how that fact was somehow relevant to McConnell’s opposition to reparations.

For these people, America today isn’t much better than it was in Douglass’s day. There’s a telling anecdote in the Post’s Omar profile about a young political activist and fundraiser from Omar’s district named Filsan Ibrahim. Like Omar, Ibrahim and her family fled war-torn Somalia and were taken in by the United States. Like Omar, she and her sisters all went to college. And Like Omar, she has a jaundiced view of the country that adopted her:

‘All of America is focused on people’s backgrounds,’ Filsan said. ‘It’s all anyone cares about. You can’t come here and just be an American unless you are white. Otherwise you are a Somali American, an African American, an Asian American.’

‘It’s bulls—,’ her sister agreed.

‘Hilarious,’ her other sister added.

A few days later Filsan, her mother and her sisters attended a fundraiser and rally for nine Somalis who had been convicted in 2016 of trying to travel to Syria to fight on behalf of the Islamic State.

The irony is that the hyper-focus on people’s backgrounds is a feature of the left, not the right. Democrats and progressives are the ones who push for hyphenation and separation according to ethnic and sexual identities, while conservatives generally try to see people as individuals.

Ultimately, it’s both sad and frightening that Omar and these young women, for whom America has been a lifeline, can’t see that social justice culture and identity politics, which have seeped into the mainstream, have betrayed them and turned what should have been to them a great blessing—a home in America—into a curse.

21,460 Attend Library Conference Featuring Workshops On Drag Queens And Queering Elementary Schools — The Federalist

At the American Library Association’s annual conference, the nation’s librarians learned how to circumvent community objections to events like Drag Queen Story Hour and other outrageous, taxpayer-purchased materials.

The world’s largest library association’s annual conference this year featured more than 100 workshops with an “equity, diversity, and inclusion” theme, according to the American Library Association’s conference catalog. That included workshops with these titles (some shortened): “Creating Queer-Inclusive Elementary School Library Programming,” “Developing an Online Face for a Lesbian Pulp Fiction Collection,” and “Telling Stories, Expanding Boundaries: Drag Queen Storytimes in Libraries.”

The ALA annual conference’s workshop selections also included “A Child’s Room to Choose: Encouraging Gender Identity and Expression in School and Public Libraries,” and “Are You Going to Tell My Parents?: The Minor’s Right to Privacy in the Library.” Politically charged talks and workshops like these formed at least one-third of the conference offerings, according to the ALA’s own description and a review of the conference catalog.

The titles and descriptions of the conference’s approximately 300 workshops and talks are not available online. They were only published in a conference app and paper catalog reserved to in-person attendees, many of whose attendance was underwritten by taxpayers through local library budgets. According to the ALA, 21,460 people attended 2019’s annual conference this June, approximately 4,000 more than last year.

The attendee who gave me her conference catalog and mobile app access has told me of internal conflict between her public library employment and Christian faith due to the saturation of this kind of bias in the interconnected library and book publishing worlds. More examples of this extreme bias permeated social media under the conference hashtag, including for some reason having librarians weigh in on U.S. border security and make plans for removing the category “illegal aliens” from their collection catalogs. The conference of course featured bisexual bathroom facilities.

89-Year-Old Ross Perot Donated to President Trump’s Reelection Campaign Before His Death — The Gateway Pundit

On Tuesday American billionaire Ross Perot passed awayat 89 after a battle with cancer.

Perot was considered ‘the spoiler’ in 1992 when he jumped into the presidential race as an independent running against republican George H.W. Bush and democrat Bill Clinton.

Perot, a Texas billionaire received 19% of the vote, the largest for a third party in several decades.

The last political act before his death was to donate to President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign.

FOX News reported:

In his last documented political act, self-made billionaire and two-time presidential candidate Ross Perot wrote out two checks to President Trump’s re-election campaign before succumbing to his battle with leukemia at the age of 89, according to a report.

Perot, who ran for president as a third-party candidate in 1992 and 1996, is largely credited with providing a road map for Trump’s presidential campaign.

Like Trump, Perot ran as a billionaire populist against the Republican establishment. His focus on the North American Free Trade Agreement – rather than the national debt – and his use of cable news for laying out his agenda were both familiar elements of Trump’s campaign.

As Democratic strategist James Carville put it in a 2016 podcast: “If Donald Trump is the Jesus of the disenchanted, displaced non-college white voter, then Perot was the John the Baptist of that sort of movement.”

Big Tech Leftists Are Eliminating Conservative Content on the Internet: Here is What Trump Can Do to STOP THE BIAS — The Gateway Pundit

Who could have imagined just three years ago that Facebook, Twitter, Amazon and Google would set out to eliminate free speech in America today?

Since the 2016 election the tech giants have worked diligently and cooperatively to eliminate conservative voices online.

The Gateway Pundit has written extensively about the blatant discrimination against conservative publishers online.

This influence map below by Columbia Journalism Review shows the top influencers during the 2016 election.

Breitbart, Western Journal, Gateway Pundit, Conservative Review, Young Cons, Right Wing News, Zerohedge, Infowars, etc. were top conservative influencers in 2016.

And here, after two years of purposeful targeting, is that same map showing the conservative publishers who have been targeted and censored by Facebook since 2017.

Facebook has been shutting down traffic to conservative websites since the 2016 election.

Conservatives dominated social media in 2016 where they were able to get the truth uncensored.  Facebook ended that in 2017 and 2018.

Big Tech companies benefiting from Section 230 immunity are actively biasing what the American people see.

Project Veritas recently exposed how Google manipulates search results. Our study of Facebookshows that grassroots Trump supporters have been largely silenced on that platform.

While groups like ours have suffered, the greater suffering is by the American people.

The American people are being exposed to information that is being biased and filtered by Big Tech with no recourse. Big Tech benefits from Section 230 immunity, granted to “platforms’ to escape the legal liability that publishers face. Big Tech companies have violated the spirit of Section 230 and should no longer be given that immunity.

But the bigger, more immediate problem is Big Tech’s biasing of the information the American people see. While the scope of the Federal government is not to control information, we are concerned that Federal workers and military personnel are seeing biased information when they use Big Tech’s tools.

If Federal workers and military personnel are given biased information about the country they serve, policy decisions and government activities will be biased and performed at a level below the standard of an effective Federal workforce.

There is also the concern that advertising job postings and other activities on Big Tech platforms that show biased information will create a biased Federal workforce.

To fix this, we ask President Trump to take the following steps:

1. Create a Special Counsel to investigate the biasing of information delivery by Big Tech companies claiming Section 230 immunity.

2. Remove access to any and all software and tools from Federal computers, including search and social media applications, that bias the information that Federal workers see.

3. Place a moratorium on Federal advertising dollars going to any Big Tech company with Section 230 immunity that cannot demonstrate it is showing unbiased information to its users.

We believe these are appropriate measures to take to assure government is not affected by the far left and biased tech giants.

This is an emergency.
President Trump must act or America will lose.

Do You Believe in Jesus? — Ligonier Ministries Blog

In this brief clip from our 2012 West Coast Conference, Steven Lawson presents the gospel.

Have you come to put your full confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ? Do you understand that you have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God? Do you understand that two thousand years ago upon the cross, Jesus Christ was lifted up to die for sinners; that He died in the place of all those who will call upon Him; and that through His death and through the shedding of His blood, He has made the only atonement for our sins by which we may find full and free acceptance with God? Have you come to repent of your sins—to turn away from a life of independence and autonomy from God? Have you come to confess and acknowledge that you have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God? Have you come to commit your life and surrender your life to the King of Kings and to the Lord of Lords—this risen Christ? He is the Good Shepherd, and all of His sheep He will safely transport to heaven one day.

If you have never believed upon Jesus Christ, if you have never called upon His name, I urge you this moment, this very second, in your heart of hearts to turn to the Lord and say, “Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, but you are the friend of sinners. You have come to seek and to save that which is lost. Lord Jesus, receive me into your kingdom.” “Whoever comes to me,” Jesus said, “I will never cast out” (John 6:37). You will find a willing and loving Savior who will embrace you in His arms, bring you into His kingdom, clothe you with His perfect righteousness, and wash away all of your sins, who has prepared a place in heaven for you. No greater offer could ever be extended to any one of us here than the free offer of the gospel of Jesus Christ. For He has come to seek and to save that which is lost, and if you have never acknowledged that you’re lost and that you need to be saved, turn to Him this moment, and He will save you. He will save you forever. But if you do not, there is a day of dread that is coming, and it will be shocking in that day if you stand before Him without an advocate. You must settle out of court. You must settle this with Him today.

Fleeting Depiction of Lesbian Mothers in ‘Toy Story 4’ Characterized as Being ‘Subtle to Desensitize Children’ — Christian Research Network

“Here was a major family-friendly film, one of the biggest Disney Pixar releases, and they included a lesbian couple with their son. It’s a small moment of normalization, even if it’s minor”

(Heather Clark – Christian News Network)  The quiet and fleeting depiction of lesbian mothers in an opening scene of “Toy Story 4” is being praised by homosexual advocates as a “small moment of normalization.” However, the cursory inclusion has also raised concern among some family groups who opine that it is a “subtle [way] to desensitize children” to homosexuality.

According to reports, in the beginning of the animated film, as Woody’s new owner, Bonnie, attends her first day of kindergarten, in the background — among the other children arriving for class — is a boy who is dropped off by two women. The women, who appear to be the child’s “mothers,” also embrace the boy as they return later at the end of the school day.

“[I]t’s certainly not the major representation that queer people have been waiting for, but it’s still important. This is one of the biggest movies of the year, after all, and will be seen by millions of all ages around the world,” opined the UK Gay Times.  View article →

July 10 Applying for Greatness

scripture reading: 1 Samuel 16:1–13
key verse: Acts 13:36

David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption.

A former military commander spoke of the dignity and honesty that should grace the life of any individual. “When I stand before God,” he said, “He won’t ask me for my résumé.”

His remark is profoundly simple and relevant. While we tirelessly work at enhancing our performance, God is concerned with a far more accurate barometer—the heart.

This should give hope and inspiration to any man or woman who wants to be used by God. You don’t have to possess a college degree, attend a megachurch, or master the Greek and Hebrew languages of the Bible. God’s requirement is a pure heart, a hunger and thirst to know and serve Him without consideration of reward.

David became king of Israel because through failure, bedlam, adversity, and challenge, his heart was bent toward God. When he sinned, he repented and asked God’s forgiveness. When he was helpless and in distress, he called out to God for help. He felt no sense of embarrassment before others because of his passionate love for God.

Whoever you are, God can and will use you in an eternal, meaningful way if you maintain childlike faith and dependence on Him. That is His primary requirement for spiritual greatness.

Heavenly Father, I’m here today for a heart exam. Create in me a pure heart that hungers and thirsts to know and serve You. Like David, I want to be a person after Your own heart.[1]

The call of Abraham

“By faith Abraham when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” Hebrews 11:8

suggested further reading: John 10:1–6

Follow the guide of divine providence and precept, lead it wherever it may. Let us follow the Shepherd, with a ready mind, because he has a perfect right to lead us wherever he pleases. We are not our own, we are bought with a price. If we were our own, we might be discontented with our circumstances, but since we are not, let this be our cry, “Do what thou wilt, O Lord, and though thou slay me, yet will I trust in thee;” we are not true to our profession of being Christians, if we pick and choose for ourselves. Picking and choosing are great enemies to submission. In fact, they are not at all consistent with it. If we are really Christ’s Christians, let us say, “It is the Lord, let him do what seemeth him good.” And then in the next place we ought to submit because wherever he may lead us, if we do not know where we go, we do know one thing, we know with whom we go; we do not know the road, but we do know the guide. We may feel that the journey is long, but we are quite sure that the everlasting arms that carry us are strong enough, even if the journey is very long. We do not know what may be the inhabitants of the land into which we may come, Canaanites or not; but we do know that the Lord our God is with us, and he shall surely deliver them into our hands. Another reason why we should follow with simplicity and faith all the commands of God, is this, because we may be quite sure they shall all end well. They may not be well apparently while they are going on, but they will end well at last.

for meditation: God is well able to guide his children in the right way (Isaiah 30:21); we know the one who is the Way himself (John 14:4–6).

Finding Hope in Prayer

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41

suggested further reading: Matthew 4:1–11

So that he may not terrify and discourage his disciples, Christ gently reproves their slothfulness, then adds consolation and good grounds for hope.

First, he reminds them that though they earnestly desire to do what is right, they must contend with the weakness of the flesh. Therefore, prayer is always necessary. We see that Christ praises their willingness so their weakness may not throw them into despair. Yet he urges them to pray because they are not sufficiently endued with the power of the Spirit.

This admonition properly relates to believers who, being regenerated by the Spirit of God, desire to do what is right but still labor under the weakness of the flesh. Though the grace of the Spirit is vigorous in them, they are “weak” according to the “flesh.” And though the disciples alone have their weakness pointed out to them, yet what Christ says of them applies equally to all. So we ought to draw from this a general rule that it is our duty to keep diligent watch by praying. We do not yet possess the power of the Spirit in such a measure as not to frequently fall through the weakness of the flesh unless the Lord grants his assistance to raise us up and uphold us.

We have no reason to tremble with excessive anxiety, for an undoubted remedy is held out to us. We neither have far to seek nor seek in vain for this remedy, for Christ promises that all who are earnest in prayer shall perseveringly oppose the slothfulness of the flesh and will be victorious.

for meditation: Watching and praying is always necessary, for we carry with us the remnants of the corruption in which we were born. While we ought to be growing daily in holiness and in the Spirit of God, we can never be confident that we can overcome our old nature on our own. The spirit may be willing, but the flesh is weak; therefore, we must watch and pray.[1]

Putin in Interview With Oliver Stone: I Never Interfered in US Elections, Never Will – Sputnik International

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with US film director Oliver Stone that he did not interfere and is not going to interfere in the elections in the United States.

“I didn’t interfere then, and I don’t want to interfere now, and I don’t intend to do it in the future,” he said in an interview for Stone’s new film Revealing Ukraine, which was shown at the Taormina Film Fest in Italy.

The Russian president proceeded by saying that Russian bloggers, whatever point of view they expressed on the Internet, could not have played the key rolein the US elections.

“If you want to return to the elections in the United States again, well, listen, a huge country, a huge people with their own problems, with their own ideas about what is good and what is bad, with the understanding that… in the previous few years – ten years, for example – with a huge increase in the well-being of the ruling class and rich people, nothing has changed for the better for the middle class,” Putin said in an interview for Stone’s new documentary Revealing Ukraine, shown at the Taormina Film Fest in Italy.

“This was this circumstance that was understood by those who conducted the election campaign of Mr. [Donald] Trump, and he himself understood it. And he used this… No matter what Russian bloggers, I do not know who works on the Internet, no matter how they expressed their views on the situation in the United States, this could not have played the key decisive role. This is nonsense,” he said.

From Russia-Gate To Deep-State-Gate: “All Hell May Break Loose” | Zero Hedge

“The Deep State almost always wins. But if AG Barr leans hard on Trump to unfetter investigators, all hell may break lose, because the evidence against those who took serious liberties with the law is staring them all in the face…”

Authored by Ray McGovern via ConsortiumNews.com,

The Deep State almost always wins. But if AG Barr leans hard on Trump to unfetter investigators, all hell may break lose, because the evidence against those who took serious liberties with the law is staring them all in the face…

As Congress arrives back into town and the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees prepare to question ex-Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller on July 17, partisan lines are being drawn even more sharply, as Russias-gate blossoms into Deep-State-gate. In Sunday, a top Republican legislator, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) took the gloves off in an unusually acerbic public attack on former leaders of the FBI and CIA.

King told a radio audience: “There is no doubt to me there was severe, serious abuses that were carried out in the FBI and, I believe, top levels of the CIA against the President of the United States or, at that time, presidential candidate Donald Trump,” according to The Hill.

King, a senior congressman specializing in national security, twice chaired the House Homeland Security Committee and currently heads its Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence. He also served for several years on the House Intelligence Committee.

He asserted:

“There was no legal basis at all for them to begin this investigation of his campaign – and the way they carried it forward, and the way information was leaked. … All of this is going to come out. It’s going to show the bias. It’s going to show the baselessness of the investigation … and I would say the same thing if this were done to Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders …It’s just wrong.”

The Long Island Republican added a well aimed swipe at what passes for the media today: “The media went along with this – actually, keeping this farcical, ridiculous thought going that the President of the United States… was somehow involved in a conspiracy with Russia against his own country.”

King: Lashes out.

According to King, the Justice Department’s review, ordered by Attorney General William Barr, would prove that former officials acted improperly. He was alluding to the investigation led by John Durham, U.S. Attorney in Connecticut. Sounds nice. But waiting for Durham to complete his investigation at a typically lawyerly pace would, I fear, be much like the experience of waiting for Mueller to finish his; that is, like waiting for Godot. What about now?

So Where is the IG Report on FISA?

That’s the big one. If Horowitz is able to speak freely about what he has learned, his report could lead to indictments of former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, former Deputy Attorneys General Sally Yates and Rod Rosenstein, and Dana Boente — Boente being the only signer of the relevant FISA applications still in office. (No, he has not been demoted to file clerk in the FBI library; at last report, he is FBI General Counsel!).

The DOJ inspector General’s investigation, launched in March 2018, has centered on whether the FBI and DOJ filing of four FISA applications and renewals beginning in October 2016 to surveil former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page amounted to abuse of the FISA process. (Fortunately for the IG, Obama’s top intelligence and law enforcement officials were so sure that Hillary Clinton would win that they did not do much to hide their tracks.)

The Washington Examiner reported last Tuesday, “The Justice Department inspector general’s investigation of potential abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is complete, a Republican congressman said, though a report on its findings might not be released for a month.”  The report continued:

“House Judiciary Committee member John Ratcliffe (R, Texas) said Monday he’d met with DOJ watchdog Michael Horowitz last week about his FISA abuse report. In a media interview, Ratcliffe said they’d discussed the timing, but not the content of his report and Horowitz ‘related that his team’s investigative work is complete and they’re now in the process of drafting that report. Ratcliffe said he was doubtful that Horowitz’s report would be made available to the public or the Congress anytime soon. ‘He [Horowitz] did relay that as much as 20% of his report is going to include classified information, so that draft report will have to undergo a classification review at the FBI and at the Department of Justice,’ Ratcliffe said. ‘So, while I’m hopeful that we members of Congress might see it before the August recess, I’m not too certain about that.’”

Horowitz: Still waiting for his report.

Earlier, Horowitz had predicted that his report would be ready in May or June but there may, in fact, be good reason for some delay. Fox News reported Friday that “key witnesses sought for questioning by Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz early in his investigation into alleged government surveillance abuse have come forward at the 11th hour.” According to Fox’s sources, at least one witness outside the Justice Department and FBI has started cooperating — a breakthrough that came after Durham was assigned to lead a separate investigation into the origins of the FBI’s 2016 Russia case that led to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.

“Classification,” however, has been one of the Deep State’s favorite tactics to stymie investigations — especially when the material in question yields serious embarrassment or reveals crimes. And the stakes this time are huge.

Judging by past precedent, Deep State intelligence and law enforcement officials will do all they can to use the “but-it’s-classified” excuse to avoid putting themselves and their former colleagues in legal jeopardy. (Though this would violate Obama’s executive order 13526, prohibiting classification of embarrassing or criminal information).

It is far from clear that DOJ IG Horowitz and Attorney General Barr will prevail in the end, even though President Trump has given Barr nominal authority to declassify as necessary. Why are the the stakes so extraordinarily high?

What Did Obama Know, and When Did He Know It?

Recall that in a Sept. 2, 2016 text message to the FBI’s then-deputy chief of counterintelligence Peter Strzok, his girlfriend and then-top legal adviser to Deputy FBI Director McCabe, Lisa Page, wrote that she was preparing talking points because the president “wants to know everything we’re doing.”[Emphasis added.] It does not seem likely that the Director of National Intelligence, DOJ, FBI, and CIA all kept President Obama in the dark about their FISA and other machinations — although it is possible they did so out of a desire to provide him with “plausible denial.”

It seems more likely that Obama’s closest intelligence confidant, Brennan, told him about the shenanigans with FISA, that Obama gave him approval (perhaps just tacit approval), and that Brennan used that to harness top intelligence and law enforcement officials behind the effort to defeat Trump and, later, to emasculate and, if possible, remove him.

Moreover, one should not rule out seeing in the coming months an “Obama-made-us-do-it” defense — whether grounded in fact or not — by Brennan and perhaps the rest of the gang. Brennan may even have a piece of paper recording the President’s “approval” for this or that — or could readily have his former subordinates prepare one that appears authentic.

Reining in Devin Nunes

That the Deep State retains formidable power can be seen in the repeated Lucy-holding-then-withdrawing-the-football-for-Charlie Brown treatment experienced by House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member, Devin Nunes (R-CA). On April 5, 2019, in the apparent belief he had a green light to go on the offensive, Nunes wrote that committee Republicans “will soon be submitting criminal referrals on numerous individuals involved … in the abuse of intelligence for political purposes. These people must be held to account to prevent similar abuses from occurring in the future.”

Nunes: Still waiting for his referrals. (Flickr)

On April 7, Nunes was even more specific, telling Fox News that he was preparing to send eight criminal referrals to the Department of Justice “this week,” concerning alleged misconduct during the Trump-Russia investigation, including leaks of “highly classified material” and conspiracies to lie to Congress and the FISA court. It seemed to be no-holds-barred for Nunes, who had begun to talk publicly about prison time for those who might be brought to trial.

Except for Fox, the corporate media ignored Nunes’s explosive comments. The media seemed smugly convinced that Nunes’s talk of “referrals” could be safely ignored — even though a new sheriff, Barr, had come to town. And sure enough, now, three months later, where are the criminal referrals?

There is ample evidence that President Trump is afraid to run afoul of the Deep State functionaries he inherited. And the Deep State almost always wins. But if Attorney General Barr leans hard on the president to unfetter Nunes, IG Horowitz, Durham and like-minded investigators, all hell may break lose, because the evidence against those who took serious liberties with the law is staring them all in the face.

Amazon bans books by former gays, lesbians – WND

Amazon.com has removed from its sales site books featuring the testimonies of people who former identified as gay or lesbian.

Among the authors are Anne Paulk of the Restored Hope Network and pastoral counselor Joe Dallas, the Christian Post reported.

Dallas’ book “Desires in Conflict: Hope for Men Who Struggle with Sexual Identity” and Paulk’s book “Restoring Sexual Identity: Hope for Women Who Struggle with Same-Sex Attraction” were removed within the past few days.

Paulk, a former lesbian, said in an interview with WND in February that the affiliated groups in the Restored Hope Network have helped many people overcome same-sex attractions through the power of God.

Dallas, in an email to the Christian Post, said Amazon’s decision is “no surprise since today’s culture is caving to the goals of the LGBTQ political movement, which have always included the silencing [of] any disapproval of homosexuality.”

“It would be awfully naive to think it will stop here,” he said.

“First, the LGBTQ movement will convince the culture that telling homosexuals they can change is dangerous. Then they’ll convince the culture that calling homosexuality a sin is dangerous. Then the government will tell the pastors of America what they can or cannot say on this subject, and the culture will approve.”

Dallas said none of the authors whose books have been banned by Amazon “will stop communicating the grace of God evidenced in our lives, and in the lives of those we serve.”

The Christian Post reported Dallas’ other books are still available on Amazon.

A group representing former gays and lesbians, Voice of the Voiceless, launched a Change.org petition Monday in response to the Amazon ban.

“We are outraged that a smear campaign by one individual (who stated here that he never read these books) could convince Amazon to censor all books, audiobooks, and Kindle material related to our experiences and viewpoints,” states the petition.

“For every major issue there are two sides to each story. For one side to be bullied and censored on every platform is counter to the values we have long held in common with Amazon.”

The Christian Post noted Amazon also has pulled the works of the late Joseph Nicolosi, a founder and president of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, NARTH. Nicolosi advocated the practice of reparative therapy to help people overcome homosexual desires.

His son, Joseph Nicolosi Jr. said in a statement to the Christian Post that Amazon’s ban “puts radical LGBT ideology ahead of established science about how people leave homosexuality.”

“It is anti-choice, anti-science, and anti-American.”

Activists winning

California has led the way in banning “conversion therapy” for minors, passing a law in 2012. Thirteen other states and the District of Columbia followed suit. A bill proposed in the California legislature last year went further. It would have designated paid “conversion therapy” services as a fraudulent business practice under the state’s consumer protection law.

The message, Paulk told WND in February, is that “anyone who helps somebody with their own stated goals in the area of sexual purity is a horrible person.”

She said activists already believe they’ve won the battle among professional counselors and now are focusing on the church.

Pastors should beware, she said, explaining that under the failed California bill, AB 2943, a pastor could have faced punishment for engaging in typical counseling.

“If somebody comes to the church, and they are tithing, and they want counseling to leave homosexuality, or say they do, they could come back to that church if the law had passed and say, ‘Well, I paid money, there was an exchange of money, and I expected for them to not do this so-called fraudulent practice of helping us align with our faith, and therefore I am going to sue them.’”

Amid strong opposition from churches and religious groups, the bill’s sponsor, Democratic state Rep. Evan Low, withdrew it last August.

But Low, who identifies as gay and leads the state Assembly’s LGBT caucus, is expected to reprise similar legislation.

“The church,” said Paulk, “must stand up for compassionate truth that the Gospel offers hope to everybody – including those who deal with same-sex attractions – or she gives way to the efforts of the gay community.”

UN Launches All-out War on Free Speech | Gatestone Institute

by Judith Bergman

  • In other words, forget everything about the free exchange of ideas: the UN feels that its ‘values’ are being threatened and those who criticize those values must therefore be shut down.

  • Naturally, the UN assures everyone that, “Addressing hate speech does not mean limiting or prohibiting freedom of speech. It means keeping hate speech from escalating into something more dangerous, particularly incitement to discrimination, hostility and violence, which is prohibited under international law”.

  • Except the UN most definitely seeks to prohibit freedom of speech, especially the kind that challenges the UN’s agendas. This was evident with regard to the UN Global Compact on Migration, in which it was explicitly stated that public funding to “media outlets that systematically promote intolerance, xenophobia, racism and other forms of discrimination towards migrants” should be stopped.

  • In contrast to the UN Global Migration compact, the UN’s action plan against hate speech doescontain a definition of what the UN considers to be “hate” and it happens to be the broadest and vaguest of definitions possible: “Any kind of communication in speech, writing or behaviour, that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, colour, descent, gender or other identity factor”. With a definition as broad as this, all speech could be labelled “hate”.

  • The new action plan plays straight into the OIC’s decades-long attempts to ban criticism of Islam as ‘hate speech’. In the wake of the launch of Guterres’ action plan, Pakistan has already presented a six-point plan “to address the new manifestations of racism and faith-based hatred, especially Islamophobia” at the United Nations headquarters. The presentation was organized by Pakistan along with Turkey, the Holy See and the UN.
