July 16 Applying God’s Word

Scripture Reading: Psalm 51:1–19

Key Verse: Psalm 51:4

Against You, You only, have I sinned,

And done this evil in Your sight—

That You may be found just when You speak,

And blameless when You judge.

There is a sure way to deal with sin, and that is by applying God’s Word to whatever temptation you are facing. If not dealt with, temptation will turn into sin, and sin will gain a stronghold in your life. From that point, it will permeate all you do.

People like to think that sin only affects them. For example, they deny the seriousness of adultery by thinking it won’t hurt anyone else, but it always does! Sin destroys families and friendships, but, most of all, it destroys our fellowship with God. The aftershock of David’s sin with Bathsheba was felt throughout his family and kingdom. It weakened his ability to rule Israel and cost him the respect of family and countrymen. However, the most dramatic result of his sin was how it clouded his fellowship with the Lord.

In Psalm 51, David pled with God for forgiveness. When we cry out to the Lord, He provides the strength and power we need to deal with our sin. He forgives and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. While there are consequences to sin, God will not cast us away. We may have to endure sorrow and embarrassment, but He will walk beside us and strengthen us in our walk with Him.

Father, I realize that sin is rebellion against You. I thank You that through Your Son, Jesus Christ, I can be set free from its entanglement.[1]

July 16 Inconsistency

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:17–24

Key Verse: Psalm 57:2

I will cry out to God Most High, to God who performs all things for me.

An artesian well sits in a pasture along a picturesque rural road. Flowing from a small pipe, the water has provided cool refreshment for man and beast for decades. Its stream, issuing from deep within the earth, has never diminished or varied—even in times of severe drought.

Most believers long for such consistency since we are so often governed by our circumstances or emotions. A good day at home or work is spiritually fortifying. A flat tire or flat speech can be debilitating, leaving us spiritually deflated. That type of elevator Christianity takes its toll spiritually and leaves nonbelievers wondering about the reliability of our faith.

Like the artesian well, the source is the key. When the love and spirit of Christ control us through the indwelling Holy Spirit, we can live consistently. Christ is our life, flowing through our wills, emotions, and personalities with His purity and power, enabling, steadying us in turmoil and disappointment.

Christ never changes; He is always the same. We experience His unchanging life when we steadfastly count on His refreshing presence in every circumstance. Tough times come; but they can never separate us from the constant, steadfast love of God. He is our Source.

Father, I am often governed by circumstances and emotions. Free me from elevator Christianity. Make me consistent. Steady me in the face of turmoil and disappointment.[1]

The Trinity from Genesis to Revelation — The Master’s Seminary

The doctrine of the Trinity is embedded in the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. It is ingrained in the very fabric of Scripture. The Trinity drives redemptive history, and studying these stories gives us a fuller picture of how the triune God accomplishes our hope.

The Trinity in the Old Testament

This begins at the beginning. In Genesis, we have God making the world, the Spirit hovering over the water, and God speaking to create. In this, we can observe God the Father and the Spirit, as well as even the Son as the Word which God speaks (cf. Ps 33:6; Jhn 1:1-2).

We again see the plurality of the Godhead at creation when God says, “Let us make man in our image” (Genesis 1:26). Note not only the plurality, but also the parallelism. God made man—“male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). The plurality of the godhead becomes the basis for plurality within humankind, male and female. In fact, this is confirmed in Genesis 11. The next time God says “let us” do something, it’s at the Tower of Babel where language is confused. The triune-ness of God is associated with and the basis for relationships, communication, and all that happens therein.

The Trinity holds the plan and truths of God together

Later in Genesis, God delivers messages to Hagar and Abraham via the angel of the Lord. We come to understand this figure as God because He speaks as God in each of these situations (Genesis 16, 18). At the same time, however, He is distinct from God (the Father) for He is sent by God to speak. This tension of being distinct from God, yet God, is part of the foundation for the Trinity. The Trinity is involved in the formation of the people of God.

The Trinity is not only involved in Genesis, but also in the Exodus and the wilderness wanderings. Exodus 14 records how God looks down from heaven through the angel of the Lord in the pillar of cloud (Exod 14:24). However, that angel is already identified as God Himself (Exod 13:21). How can God look through God? The Trinity explains this. The triune God is involved in the Exodus deliverance. Likewise, in Numbers 11, God (in heaven) pours out His Spirit on the leaders of Israel. At the same time, the pillar of cloud is still leading them through the wilderness. God (the Father) in heaven pours out the Holy Spirit upon His people, all while the Son is right in front of them in the pillar of cloud. That’s the Trinity. The Trinity is also involved in the wilderness wanderings. A similar logic occurs in the conquest (Josh 5:14) and even in the period of the kings of Israel (2 Sam 24:15-17). The Trinity indeed drives the plan of God forward.

The Trinity not only drives Israel’s history, but also prophecy. The book of Isaiah illustrates this. Isaiah declares, “I saw the Lord sitting upon the throne, high and lifted up” (Isaiah 6:1). Later, Isaiah uses the same language to indicate that the One he saw on the throne is ultimately the Suffering Servant (Isaiah 52:13). Consistently, the Suffering Servant is God Himself. However, in the context of Isaiah 53, God smites this Servant, who is God. How can God be smiting God? He can’t, unless you have the Trinity. The Trinity drives the atonement.

The Trinity in the New Testament

This moves us to the New Testament, and to be sure, the Trinity holds together the events and theology of this testament. In the Gospels, Jesus pleases the Father (Jhn 4:34) as He is driven by the Spirit (Matt 4:1). God the Father and the Spirit uniquely testify to the Son (cf. Matt 3:16-17; Heb 2:4). The life of Christ falls apart without the Trinity. The triune God also drives the mission of the church. In Acts, the church receives the Spirit (Acts 2:2-4) to proclaim the Son (Acts 2:22) who sits at the right hand of the Father (Acts 2:34-36). The very witness and mission of the church demands the Trinity.

For this reason, the Trinity grounds the doctrines of the church. It grounds atonement as already mentioned. It grounds our conversion and regeneration as the Spirit transforms our hearts (Tit 3:5) causing us to trust in Christ (Acts 16:31) and turn to God the Father (1 Thess 1:9). It grounds our sanctification as we are made more like Christ (Rom 8:29) by the internal work of the Spirit (2 Cor 3:18) for the glory of God the Father (Eph 1:14). It grounds our doctrine of prayer, for we pray to God (Matt 6:9) through the Son (Jhn 14:14) as the Spirit intercedes for us (Rom 8:26). It grounds our worship as we know there is one God (1 Cor 12:6; Deut 6:4) and yet we give glory to God the Father (Eph 1:14), honor the Son (2 Cor 4:4-6), and submit to the Spirit who speaks the very word of God (Heb 3:7-11). Christian life and belief are inextricably linked to the Trinity.

The triune Godhead is revealed in eschatology as well. Without the Trinity, you can’t have the Day of the Lord in 2 Thessalonians 2. That judgment comes when the Holy Spirit, the restrainer, is removed, and God the Father sends a deluding influence so that they will not believe the Son. Likewise, the very courtroom scene of heaven, which inaugurates the end of history (Rev 4-5), showcases how the Father honors the Son as the King whose ministry is anointed by the Spirit (Rev 1:4; 5:6-8). In the end, the triune God will rule the New Heavens and Earth and receive worship (Rev 22:3; cf. 1:4). All of this shows that these members are all co-equal and thereby one, for there is only one God (cf. Deut 6:4). At the same time, they are distinct persons. The end of history unveils the full glory of the triune Godhead. The Trinity is as important at the end as it was in the beginning.

Hence, this doctrine is engrained in the storyline of the Bible from the first book to the last. The entire narrative has been constructed by God to reflect the Trinity, and without the Trinity, it would fall apart. After all, if God is one person, then Christ cannot honor His Father in the Gospels, for both cannot be at the same time. If God is one person, then the Father cannot honor the Son empowered by the Spirit in Revelation. Furthermore, if the Son is not God, such an act in Revelation would be blasphemy. On top of this, without the Trinity, the cross does not work. Who does Christ satisfy in His death if there is only one person in the Trinity? Who receives His atoning work? Even more, if Christ is not God, how does His death satisfy the wrath of God and give us the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21)?

The Trinity holds the plan and truths of God together.

The Trinity as a Foundation for Relationship and Communcation

It’s even more fundamental than this—as we have seen, without the Trinity, we have no grounds for communication. If God is just one person, with whom would He talk? Where would He ever have the idea of relationship and communication? Without the Trinity, we would have no Christianity because God would never reveal Himself. In fact, without the Trinity, we would not exist. Why would God create us in the first place? There is no basis for “another person” to begin with!

However, communication exists because the Godhead has perfect communication: multiple persons all saying one thing, for they are one. As each person of the Godhead works in our lives in the New Covenant, we commune then with God in His perfect communion within Himself. We have the deepest fellowship with Him (1 Jhn 1:3-4). That is the beauty of the Trinity’s involvement in God’s plan and our lives.

What We Need to Understand

With that, we can understand the following about the Trinity:

The Trinity is serious. Christianity stands or falls on this doctrine, and we need to take it seriously.

The Trinity is sensible. The Trinity is not only something that makes sense, but it makes sense of everything. Without the Trinity, God’s plan, theological doctrines, and aspects of our lives would fall apart.

The Trinity is sublime. The doctrine of the Trinity allows us to commune with God most deeply. It is a privilege to be caught up in the life of the godhead in the most intimate fashion. It is nothing short of sublime.

July 16 Trust for Tomorrow

Scripture reading: Luke 7:29–28

Key verse: Luke 7:22

Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.”

When you think of John the Baptist, you probably think first of his ministry by the Jordan River, calling people to repentance and faith in the coming Messiah.

Have you ever considered what happened to John after that time? He almost disappeared from the scene, except for the passage in Mark’s gospel that described his death. King Herod had become angry over some of John’s remarks about Herod’s unlawful wife, Herodias, so Herod had John arrested. He languished in prison for a time, until the fateful night of Herod’s birthday banquet. Herodias’s daughter performed a special dance for the king, and in return Herod swore an oath to give her whatever she wanted.

When she finished dancing, she asked Herod (at her mother’s suggestion) for John the Baptist’s head on a platter. Afraid to back down in front of his guests, Herod had John beheaded.

John never got to see the fullness of Jesus’ ministry. His part in it came at the very beginning, when Jesus presented Himself as the Messiah for baptism. How do you think John felt in prison, knowing he would probably die? No wonder he asked for Jesus’ assurance as he awaited his sentence (Luke 7:19–28).

God’s promises are true forever, and He wants you to trust Him for tomorrow—no matter what.

O Lord, Your promises are true forever. Help me to trust You for tomorrow—no matter what.[1]

July 16, 2019 Afternoon Verse Of The Day

9. Daniel here betakes himself to God’s mercy as to a sacred asylum; for it is not sufficient to acknowledge and confess our sins, unless we are supported by a confidence of our obtaining pardon from God’s mercy. We see numbers who use great prolixity in bearing witness to the truth, that they richly deserve all kinds of punishment; but no good result arises from this, because despair overwhelms them and plunges them into an abyss. Recognition of a fault is in truth without the slightest profit, unless with the addition of the hope of pardon. Daniel, therefore, after candidly confessing the treatment which the whole people had received from God to have been deserved, although so severe and harsh, still embraces his pity. According to the common saying, this is like a drowning man catching at a straw. We observe also how David makes use of the same principle: There is forgiveness with thee that thou mayest be feared. (Ps. 130:4.) And this moderation must be diligently marked, because Satan either lulls us into torpid security, or else so agitates us as utterly to absorb our minds in sorrow. These two artifices of Satan are sufficiently known to us. Hence that moderation which I have mentioned must be maintained, lest we should grow torpid in the midst of our vices, and so indulge in contempt of God as to induce forgetfulness of him. Then, on the other hand, we ought not to be frightened, and thus close against us the gate of hope and pardon. Daniel, therefore, here follows the best arrangement, and prescribes the same rule for us. For, in confessing the people’s wickedness, he does not entirely throw away the hope of pardon, but supports himself and others with this consolation—God is merciful. He rests this hope of pardon on the very nature of God; as if he had said, there is nothing so peculiar to God as pity, and hence we ought never to despair. To God, says he, belong mercies and forgivenesses. No doubt Daniel took this phrase from Moses, especially from that remarkable and memorable passage where God pronounces himself a severe avenger, yet full of mercy, inclined to clemency and pardon, and exercising much forbearance. (Exod. 34:6.) As, therefore, Daniel held the impossibility of God putting away his affectionate feelings of pity, he takes this as the main point of his teaching, and it becomes the chief foundation for his hopes and his petition for pardon. He argues thus, To God belong loving-kindnesses; therefore, as he can never deny himself, he will always be merciful. This attribute is inseparable from his eternal essence; and however we have rebelled against him, yet he will never either cast away nor disdain our prayers.

We may conclude from this passage that no prayers are lawful or rightly composed unless they consist of these two members. First, all who approach God ought to cast themselves down before him, and to acknowledge themselves deserving of a thousand deaths; next, to enable them to emerge from the abyss of despair, and to raise themselves to the hope of pardon, they should call upon God without fear or doubt, and with firm and stable confidence. This reliance upon God can have no other support than the nature of God himself, and to this he has borne ample testimony. With respect to the close of the verse, it may be explained in two ways: Because, or although, we are rebellious against him. I have stated that I rather approve of taking the particle כי, ki, in the sense of opposition. Although we have rebelled against God, still he will be entreated, and never will be unmindful of his pity. If any one prefers taking it in a causal sense, it will suit tolerably well; as if Daniel had said, the people have no other hope left but the mercy of God, as they have been convicted of sin over and over again. Because we have acted wickedly towards him, what is left for us but to throw ourselves with all our trust upon the clemency and goodness of God, since he has borne witness to his being propitious to sinners who truly and heartily implore his favour?[1]

9. mercies—The plural intensifies the force; mercy manifold and exhibited in countless ways. As it is humbling to recollect “righteousness belongeth unto God,” so it is comforting, that “mercies belong to the Lord OUR God.”

though we have rebelled—rather, “since,” &c. [Vulgate], (Ps 25:11). Our punishment is not inconsistent with His “mercies,” since we have rebelled against Him.[2]

9:9. In the center of this confession, Daniel identified the sole hope upon which he and the rest of Judah could depend, namely, that while rebellion belonged to Judah, to the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness. The Hebrew word for God’s compassion is rarely used of humanity and commonly used of God. It refers to the deep, tender love and pity that a parent feels for a child (Ps 103:13) which God in His sovereignty chooses to bestow. The word for forgiveness is used solely of God, never being used of human forgiveness. It refers to the pardon that God alone can provide to those who rebel against Him. Both words are plural, intensifying the expression of the depth of God’s pity and pardon.[3]

The Number Of Global Earthquakes Is 3 Times Above Normal
Within the last 48 hours we have seen large earthquakes going off like firecrackers all along the Ring of Fire. As you will see below, a magnitude 6.1 quake just hit Japan, a magnitude 6.6 quake just hit Australia and a magnitude 7.3 earthquake just hit Indonesia. And of course all of this comes just about a week after southern California was hit by the two largest earthquakes that it has experienced in more than two decades. So is all of this shaking unusual?
Within the last seven days, our planet has experienced an average of more than 677 earthquakes of magnitude 1.5 or greater per day. That means that the number of global earthquakes right now is more than 3 times above normal.
And the number of very large earthquakes is at a frighteningly high level as well. None of this is “normal”. As I keep warning my readers, we have entered a time of tremendous global instability, and the U.S. is certainly not going to be exempt.

Iran has broken restrictions on its production of enriched uranium, used to make reactor fuel but also potentially nuclear bombs.

As Hamas shows restraint, security officials discuss allowing 5,000 Gazan workers into Israel
Secret negotiations between Israel and Hamas became known in recent days, as the Gaza Strip’s ruling terror group showed restraint after one of its men was killed by IDF soldiers on Thursday, later deemed by the IDF as a mistake in a near-apology. Hamas’ decision to launch two rockets into Israel, rather than firing a larger barrage or starting border-fence riots, is considered minor in comparison to earlier events.

North Korea says nuclear talks at risk if U.S.-South Korea exercises go ahead
The United States looks set to break a promise not to hold military exercises with South Korea, putting talks aimed at getting North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons at risk, the North Korean Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday. Donald Trump: Democrats Too ‘Petrified’ to Confront ‘Anti-USA, Pro-Terrorist’ Squad

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the far-left Democrat “Squad,” say some of the most “vile, hateful, and disgusting things” ever said by a lawmaker on Capitol Hill and party leadership is unwilling to take them one due to fear of the “radical left.”

How the President Won the ‘Squad’ Press Conference | LifeZette

Extreme leftists dislike everything the duly elected commander-in-chief does — but on Monday, their ‘look’ was ‘terrible’

President Donald Trump emerged the victor after four freshman Democratic lawmakers held a press conference responding to his criticisms of them, according to Jesse Watters.

The members of the so-called progressive “squad” continue to make extreme assertions about the president, which isn’t a good look for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Watters claimed Monday on “The Five.”

“Donald Trump won that press conference,” he said, moments after Reps. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) spoke on Capitol Hill.

“Nancy and ‘the squad’ lost — that was a terrible look. It seems like they want to victimize themselves even further. I don’t think that’s the way to go against President Trump.”

Related: Cher and Other Leftists in Hollywood Are Fired Up Over Trump’s Tweets

“They’re saying he’s a white nationalist and he’s committing human rights violations … Obama actually deported more and also put people in cages,” added Watters.

Watters also dismissed calls from Omar and Tlaib to remove Trump from office.

“They’re continuing to play the victim and continue to pout — and now they want to impeach him for tweeting,” he said.

Related: Lindsey Graham: AOC and Her Dem ‘Squad’ Are Anti-American Communists

Responding earlier, host Greg Gutfeld also said he believed Trump could claim victory after the lawmakers’ remarks.

“I think President Trump got exactly what he wanted,” he said, going on to list several disputed claims made by the congresswomen.

“I wrote down: ‘drinking out of toilets’ — that didn’t happen,” he said.

Pressley claimed Trump is seeking to “marginalize and silence” the women — but quickly turned her focus to such issues as gun violence and immigration.

“Colluding with Russians — I think we found out the answer to that. The most corrupt presidency in history — eh.”

During the press conference, Pressley repeatedly referred to Trump as “the occupant of the White House.” She claimed he is seeking to “marginalize and silence” the women — but quickly turned her focus to various issues, from gun violence to immigration.

Omar, however, curtly dismissed Trump’s rhetoric as “the bile of garbage that comes out of his mouth.”

Tlaib, speaking separately, backed Omar’s call for impeachment.

She said Trump’s language was “disgusting and bigoted” and that his administration was “lawless.”

Asked by Fox News’ Chad Pergram about Trump’s criticisms of Omar’s remarks as anti-American, Omar slammed the president’s “complete hypocrisy,” and said his presidential campaign was founded on all the things “wrong” with the United States.

Omar has previously been criticized by prominent members of both parties for making anti-Semitic remarks.

In March, the Democrat-led House overwhelmingly passed a bipartisan resolution that indirectly condemned Omar’s repeated “anti-Semitic” and “pernicious” comments.

White Privilege Card Now Good For 10% Off At Whole Foods | The Babylon Bee

U.S.—According to a representative for the official White Privilege rewards program, every Caucasian person’s White Privilege Card is now good for a full 10% off at participating Whole Foods locations.

The cards, which are given out to every white person at birth, have always been good for many societal benefits, but at long last allow white people to enjoy a discounted shopping experience at their favorite overpriced grocery store.

“Simply bring your purchases to the register and present your official white privilege card, and we’ll provide a discount on your entire purchase,” a spokesperson for the grocery store said. “And don’t try to borrow a white friend’s card—we’ll be able to tell if you try to pull one over on us.”

At publishing time, the rewards program had also confirmed the card will be good for a free pancake plate at IHOP and $5 off your next oil change at Walmart.

Trump Admin Implements “Protect Life Rule” to Block Abortion Referrals at Taxpayer-Funded Family Planning Clinics — The Gateway Pundit

The Trump Administration banned abortion referrals at taxpayer-funded family planning clinics on Monday.

The new “Protect Life Rule” will be implemented immediately.

Planned Parenthood and the state of California tried to block the new rules but a federal appeals court sided with the Trump administration in a decision last week.

Mark Meadows tweeted out.

Rep. Jody Hice weighed in…

A ban on abortion referrals at taxpayer-funded family planning clinics is taking effect immediately, the Trump administration said Monday.

The Department of Health and Human Services told family planning providers it would begin enforcing the rules after receiving the go-ahead in recent weeks from two federal courts.

That means clinics receiving family planning grants to provide contraception and other services to low-income women will have to stop providing abortion referrals or lose their funding.

The requirement that family planning services funded by Title X be financially separate from abortion services also begins today. An additional requirement that abortion services and Title X services be performed in separate facilities won’t take effect until next year.

The rules have been praised by conservatives and anti-abortion advocates, who saw the changes to the Title X family planning program as a way to cut funding to Planned Parenthood…

… Planned Parenthood, the state of California and several other states have sued to block the rules, but were dealt a setback last week when a federal appeals court sided with the Trump administration.

Trump 2020 Campaign To Simply Air Unedited Footage Of Democrats Talking — The Babylon Bee

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Trump campaign has unveiled its 2020 campaign strategy of airing unedited footage of speeches and press conferences by far-left Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and that other one.

GOP commercials will air the footage around the clock. The speeches will not be edited in any way. Rather than pushing their own policy proposals, Republicans will just remind the nation of just who it is they’re running against.

“We were pretty concerned when Trump was tweeting those racially charged things the other day,” said one campaign strategist. “But now we’re in the clear again. I mean, he’ll say something problematic again soon. But we don’t even have to defend it. We just have to show people the Dems tripping over themselves to say something even crazier.”

“Frankly, when we saw that wild press conference after Trump’s tweets, we took a moment and thanked the Lord above for His blessings,” he added.

God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel: An Interview with Costi W. Hinn | Bible Gateway Blog

What is the “prosperity gospel” and how did it originate? Why is it considered a dangerous theology? How does its teaching conflict with the concept of God’s sovereignty? How does prosperity theology abuse and exploit people?

Bible Gateway interviewed Costi W. Hinn (@costiwhinn) about his book, God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel: How Truth Overwhelms a Life Built on Lies (Zondervan, 2019).

Explain the term “prosperity gospel” and how it originated.

Costi W. Hinn: Being that the “prosperity gospel” is ultimately the result of twisting God’s Word, it can be accurately stated that this concept goes back as far as the original fall of man. In Genesis 3:1-3 it was the serpent who deceitfully approached Eve and began to undermine and twist God’s Word, culminating his crafty effort saying, “You surely shall not die!” (Genesis 3:4). This is what the prosperity gospel does. This theology says in no uncertain terms, “Sure, Jesus died on the cross to save you from sin and offer you heaven, but what he really wants is to make you healthy, wealthy, and happy on earth.”

In prosperity theology, faith is not about trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (Ephesians 2:8-9). Faith is seen as a kind of “force” that makes God do whatever you want. Instead of seeing confession as being about sin (1 John 1:9), prosperity theology teaches that confession is about “stuff.” Teachers tell their followers, “If you want a job promotion, a luxury car, or a mansion, you need to declare it by faith!”

In modern history, this belief system began to pick up steam when popular prosperity preachers began to use large evangelistic events to build their empires. It became a very common strategy (and a useful one!) to draw in a large crowd of people who needed healing, money, or better circumstances, with the promise that Jesus would give them all of those things if they gave an offering or followed the seemingly anointed preacher.

Over time, ministries of this kind also began to use media to spread their message. Their reach went from hundreds to hundreds of thousands in no time at all. Today, prosperity preachers reach millions, even billions, with their message, and often target the third world where some of the most desperate people reside.

Why do you see it as being dangerous?

Costi W. Hinn: This theology is dangerous because it assaults the two more important factors for the Christian and for the lost: The person of Christ and the proclamation of the gospel.

The “Jesus” of the prosperity gospel is not the Jesus of the Scriptures and the “gospel” of prosperity is no gospel at all. Therefore, it’s dangerous because it can’t save anyone. Christians are on this earth to live out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) so any theology that pulls people away from truth should be considered highly dangerous.

Beyond that, prosperity theology abuses and exploits people. It drains money from the poor; it gives false hope to already hopeless people. Instead of giving people what they need the most—or rather, Whom they need the most—it hooks them to a promise of fulfillment that always seems to be within their grasp, if they’ll give just one more offering.

[Read the Bible Gateway Blog post, What Does the Bible Say about Wealth and Prosperity?]

How is the concept of God’s sovereignty at odds with prosperity gospel teaching?

Costi W. Hinn: Since the prosperity gospel demands God do whatever people want based on what they do, it essentially makes God the puppet and mankind the puppet master. Your faith, your offering, your demands, all make God do what you say he must.

However, this is diametrically opposed to scriptural teaching about the nature of our God. Psalm 115:3 says, “But our God is in the heavens; he does whatever he pleases.” Paul writes in Ephesians 1:11 that God “works all things after the counsel of his will.” Jesus told Pilate that he would have “no authority” if it wasn’t for the fact that God gave it (John 19:11).

Of course, the prophet Isaiah long foretold of the sovereignty power of God declaring, “For I am God, there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like me. Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, ‘My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all my good pleasure’” (Isaiah 46:9-10).

From the story of Job, to the story of Joseph, to the life of Christ himself, the sovereignty of God is clear throughout the Bible. God is in control. Man is not. We submit to God. He does not submit to us.

What passage of Scripture made you change your thinking about the prosperity gospel? Why?

Costi W. Hinn: Studying John 5:1-17 one day led to my conversion. I was utterly confused by Jesus’ healing ministry because He did it so differently than I had believed or been taught according to prosperity theology. I always was taught that Jesus will heal everyone if they will just have enough faith to believe their healing. Well, three explosive truths from this passage blew the doors off my erroneous beliefs.

First, Jesus healed one man out of a multitude of sick people at the pool of Bethesda. John writes that there were a multitude of sick people (John 5:3). I remember thinking, why didn’t Jesus heal them all? Second, Jesus healed the man “immediately” (John 5:9). There was no fanfare, no special faith healer, and no offering or money given. He simply healed him with a single command! Third, when the Pharisees questioned the man who got healed because he was carrying his pallet on the Sabbath — this was considered “working” — the man couldn’t answer. John writes, “But he who was healed did not know who it was [who healed him]” (John 5:13). I was shocked at this! How in the world did a man have enough faith to get healed if he didn’t even know who Jesus was? I scurried for a commentary that had been given to me by my pastor and the scales soon fully fell from my eyes as a commentator explained the sovereignty of God displayed through Christ’s healing of this man. More theological dominoes fell from there and my life was transformed by the true gospel.

Briefly unpack your book’s chapter titled, “A Balanced View on Health and Wealth.”

Costi W. Hinn: The best way to guard against error is to know the truth. In light of that, I wanted to not only point out the errors of prosperity theology but teach biblical truths that will equip people. It’s vital that Christians have a biblical understanding of healing, and money. A lack of knowledge on these two topics makes people vulnerable to false teaching. One thing I’ve come to know is that as dangerous as the prosperity gospel is, so too is the poverty gospel. Just because health and wealth are not guaranteed for Christians, doesn’t mean God’s will is always sickness and poverty for everyone either. This chapter in the book keeps readers from swinging to extremes to ensure that we are praising, trusting, praying, needing and giving depending on the circumstances we are facing.

What is a favorite Bible passage of yours and why?

Costi W. Hinn: 2 Timothy 4:1-5 because it serves as a constant reminder that I am accountable to Christ for preaching his word faithfully no matter the preferences of people or what direction the winds of culture may blow.

What are your thoughts about Bible Gateway and the Bible Gateway App and Bible Audio App?

TRUMP: ‘I Don’t Have A Racist Bone In My Body!’ — The Gateway Pundit

One lawmaker says the United States is operating concentration camps. Two other newcomers to the Democratic House caucus routinely make anti-Semitic statements. And a fourth says America is — and always has been — racist.

So President Trump said over the weekend that maybe, just maybe, they’d like to, you know, go somewhere else if they hate America so much.

Then all hell broke loose. Democrats rushed in front of cameras to declare that it is the president, not the four female members of Congress, who is racist.

On Saturday, Trump took to Twitter to rip some members of the new progressive wing of the Democratic Party.

“So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly … and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run,” Trump wrote.

“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how … it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!” the president wrote.

The lawmakers, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, held a joint press conference on Monday to denounce Trump.

“This is the agenda of white nationalists, whether it is happening in chat rooms or happening in national TV. And now it’s reached the White House garden,” Omar said of what she called Trump’s “blatantly racist attack.”

But Trump on Tuesday fired back.

“Our Country is Free, Beautiful and Very Successful. If you hate our Country, or if you are not happy here, you can leave!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

And he said he’s far from a racist.

“Those Tweets were NOT Racist. I don’t have a Racist bone in my body! The so-called vote to be taken is a Democrat con game. Republicans should not show ‘weakness’ and fall into their trap. This should be a vote on the filthy language, statements and lies told by the Democrat […] Congresswomen, who I truly believe, based on their actions, hate our Country. Get a list of the HORRIBLE things they have said. Omar is polling at 8%, Cortez at 21%. Nancy Pelosi tried to push them away, but now they are forever wedded to the Democrat Party. See you in 2020!” Trump wrote.

Trump, a master troll, is, of course, forcing the Democratic Party to embrace the most extreme wing of the party. And winning.

“Charlatans like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren tell us that the federal government will provide for children who are mistreated by their parents.  That is a false promise.  But Republicans are misleading the country too, by failing to actively promote good parenting and self-reliance based on smart, disciplined behavior.”
(Bill O’Reilly)  Bad parenting, not capitalism, is the main cause of “income inequality” in America.  The left, including liberal educators, media, and politicians will never admit that, but it’s absolutely true.
We begin with education.  If a young child is not exposed to learning by age two, that innocent, helpless person is already at risk in a competitive society.  If there are no books in the home, no awareness-building games, no fun dialogue with the parents, the child may not develop a curiosity about life.
As the child gets older, parents must participate in the learning process – emphasizing the tremendous importance of academic discipline and monitor school work on a daily basis. (emphasis added)
Millions of American parents simply refuse to do that.
Now the environment.  If the home is full of conflict, loud noise, unpredictable behavior by one parent or both, the young child may not develop intellectual skills and will likely be unsteady and insecure.
Then there is the work ethic: if a child does not understand that accomplishment is based on performance, doom is nearby. Hard work must be taught, it is not inherited or casually acquired.  The word “hard” is there for a reason.    View article →

Rep. Ilhan Omar Refuses To Denounce Al-Qaeda, Islamic Terrorism — The Federalist

Weeks after refusing to say who is responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Rep. Omar refuses to denounce Islamist terrorist group al-Qaeda.

Rep. Ilhan Omar Refuses To Denounce Al-Qaeda, Islamic Terrorism

Rep. Ilhan Omar refused to answer whether she supports the Islamist terrorist group al-Qaeda, at a press conference Monday.

“I will not dignify it with an answer because I know that every single Islamophobe, every single person who is hateful, who is driven by an ideology of ‘othering’ as this president is, rejoices in us responding to that and us defending ourselves,” Omar said.

“I do not expect every time there is a white supremacist who attacks or there is a white man who kills in a school or in a movie theater, or in a mosque, or in a synagogue, I don’t expect my white community members to respond on whether they love that person or not. And so I think it is beyond time, it is beyond time to ask Muslims to condemn terrorists. We are no longer going to allow the dignification of such ridiculous — ridiculous statement,” she said.

Earlier on Monday, President Trump recalled Omar’s previous comments about the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Omar still refuses to answer the question of who she believes was responsible for the attacks. Multiple requests from The Federalist for a comment from Omar have gone unanswered.

“I mean, I look at the one, I look at Omar, I don’t know her, I never met her. I hear the way she talks about al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda has killed many Americans,” Trump said. “When she talked about the World Trade Center being knocked down, some people, you remember the famous ‘some people.’ These are people that, in my opinion, hate our country.”

Trump also tweeted out similar comments on Monday afternoon.

….They are anti-Israel, pro Al-Qaeda, and comment on the 9/11 attack, “some people did something.” Radical Left Democrats want Open Borders, which means drugs, crime, human trafficking, and much more….

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 15, 2019

In a 2013 interview, Omar complained about people who think there are differences between America and al-Qaeda.

“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class,” she said. “Every time the professor said ‘al-Qaeda,’ his shoulders went up. He’d say ‘al-Qaeda’ and ‘Hezbollah.’ You don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity. You don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity.”

REPORT: Ilhan Omar’s Father and Other Somalian War Crimes Perpetrators Now Living Illegally in the US — The Gateway Pundit

Far Left Communist Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar’s father and other Somalian war crimes perpetrators are currently living illegally in the United States.

No wonder she supports communists, terrorists and illegal aliens!

The Gateway Pundit has obtained information that is damning for Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Omar’s father, Nur Omar Mohamed (aka Nur Said Elmi Mohamed), is connected to the former dictator in Somalia, Said Barre.  Nur and other former Barre accomplices are living in the US illegally.

Omar’s father Mohamed, is living in the US.  He and other Somalians like Yusuf Abdi Ali, who killed thousands for Barre, escaped to the West and were not vetted properly before entering the country.  Barre was a dictator and was connected to Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

Ali is a convicted war criminal who did the killing himself.  Ali has been located in the US working as security at Dulles International Airport and driving for Uber in 2019.  He reportedly lived at one time in Alexandria, Virginia.  Ali was a Colonel in the Somalian Army’s 5th Mechanized Brigade in 1987 and was a graduate of the Pentegon’s Program for Foreign Officers in 1986.  He’s also a war criminal in response to his actions in Somalia.

Nur, Representative Omar’s father, appears to have been a party propagandist under the dictator and was responsible for ‘ideological’ aspects of the Red-Green revolution.  (He worked for the Marxist/Stalinist regime under dictator Baare as a teacher of teachers.) This could have included providing the ideological/political justification for the massacres of the late eighties.

It is not a secret that Ilhan Omar’s father illegally entered the United States.

The Nur family was well connected in the country led by the Marxist regime.  Young Omar went to kindergarten at age four, their family lived in a secure compound in Mogadishu.  When the regime was overtaken, the family caught a plane to escape the country.  The average GDP per capita in Somalia was only $187 dollars in 2010 twenty years after they fled the country when the regime fell. Obviously, Nur’s family was a privileged family.

According to a 2016 article on Omar, when the Marxist regime was being overtaken the secure compound that the family lived in was under attack by 20 armed men, somehow the family escaped.  It is not clear how.  Either the family had superior armed guards within their compound or they bribed the attackers and sent them on their way (or the story is a complete fabrication).

Both Ali and Nur escaped Somalia after the fall of Barre.  Because they were no longer safe there and would have been put on trial and shot if caught, they exited the country. Both ended up in the US and both hid the fact that they worked for a totalitarian regime. Both lied on their Form N-400, Application for Naturalization about their communist background.  (They had to or they wouldn’t be here.)

As you can see below:

The Immigration and Nationality Act (I.N.A.) contains a prohibition on naturalization for anyone involved, within the last ten years, with a group that advocates or teaches opposition to all organized government; or involved with the Communist Party or any other totalitarian party of the U.S. or any foreign state; or who advocates world communism or totalitarian dictatorship even without formal group membership. (See I.N.A. Section 313).”

Both Nur and Yusuf should be disqualified from permanent US residency and a revocation of their US citizenship should take place.

Representative Omar reportedly lied after she married her brother in order to assist him in obtaining US citizenship.

This would obviously disqualify Omar and her brother from legal citizenship.

It looks like illegal citizenship is all in the family for Omar and her family.  Like father, like daughter (like son).
