September 14 God Knows You

Scripture Reading: Psalm 18:1–6

Key Verse: Psalm 18:6

In my distress I called upon the Lord,

And cried out to my God;

He heard my voice from His temple,

And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.

The concept of God’s ability to save mankind is evident throughout the entire Bible. In Psalm 18:1–2, David wrote: “I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Saints in the Old Testament understood that God was their only hope of salvation. The prophets of God looked to the future and believed that God would save mankind from sin. This truth was a great source of praise and adoration of the Lord. However, while they loved the Lord, their relationship with Him was quite different than what we experience today. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can know God intimately and be sure He knows us.

When the darkness of this world closes in, stop and think of God’s infinite, unconditional love. Throughout the ages, the one thing that holds true is that God’s salvation is there for all who come to Him with a humble and open heart.

David wrote, “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God for help; He heard my voice” (Psalm 18:6). God knows your deepest need, and He will answer your cry for help and salvation.

You are the hope of my salvation, Lord. In my distress, I call to You. I cry to You for help.[1]

In Preparation for the Lord’s Day: Jesus, Thou Joy — The Thirsty Theologian

Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts

imageJesus, Thou Joy of loving hearts,
Thou Fount of life, Thou Light of men,
from the best bliss that earth imparts,
we turn unfilled to Thee again.

Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood;
Thou savest those that on Thee call;
to them that seek Thee, Thou art good,
to them that find Thee, all in all.

We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread,
and long to feast upon Thee still;
we drink of Thee, the Fountain-head,
and thirst our souls from Thee to fill.

Our restless spirits yearn for Thee
where’er our changeful lot is cast;
glad, when Thy gracious smile we see,
blest, when our faith can hold Thee fast.

O Jesus, ever with us stay;
make all our moments calm and bright!
chase the dark night of sin away,
shed o’er the world Thy holy light.

Hymns to the Living God (Religious Affections Ministries, 2017).

The current hymnal for this series is Hymns to the Living God, published by Religious Affections Ministries. This is such a good hymnal that I’m pretty sure I could happily post every hymn it contains, but I’ll be limiting selections to hymns I have never posted here before, especially those unfamiliar to me (of which there are many). For more information and to purchase this hymnal, visit Religious Affections Ministries.

September 14 Acting Out Your Commitment

Scripture Reading: Luke 9:23–26

Key Verse: Luke 9:23

He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

In the back of your mind, when you hear the words deny and cross, you usually think of suffering. You might even get the vague idea that yielding to God’s will for your life is going to mean always walking a hard road or giving up everything you ever hoped for in favor of a foreign plan.

Denying yourself doesn’t mean eating only bread and water or not letting yourself have good things. Jesus was talking about submission, the one-time act of saying to the Lord that He is in charge, that Christ is your Master and Savior and is free to use your life any way He pleases.

“Taking up your cross daily” is the step-by-step process of acting out that commitment and affirming it each day as you make decisions. If you want to take a certain action, but you know that God has a specific command against it, then you must make a choice—your way or God’s way. And because He is absolutely loving and absolutely holy, you know that His direction is in your best interest and for your ultimate good.

Self-denial is Christ-acceptance. Saying yes to Him means opening up your life to adventure that leads only to blessing. Begin to act out your commitment today!

Lord Jesus, my answer is yes—I will follow You! Help me act out my commitment today as I walk Your way.[1]

September 14 Controlling Anger

Scripture reading: James 1:19–27

Key verse: Proverbs 16:32

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,

And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

Be angry, and do not sin” was Paul’s carefully crafted, Spirit-inspired alert to the church at Ephesus. His admonition was delicately phrased for good reason. Constructively managed anger has no sinful connotations. You do not sin every time you fume or fuss. A flushed face or raised tone is not necessarily a willful sin.

However, anger crouches at sin’s door. Mismanaged, it can be destructive to the offender and the offended. Suppressed, it can nurture bitterness, depression, and a stifling passiveness. Your best tactic in handling this powerful emotional current is to approach its expression with much caution.

The Bible says the believer should be slow to anger (Prov. 16:32; James 1:19). If you are constantly at a boiling point over even minor matters, then you probably have treaded into hazardous territory. Your anger should be short-lived. “Do not let the sun go down on your wrath,” Paul said (Eph. 4:26). When angry feelings keep you awake at night, meet you in the shower in the morning, or race through your mind during the day, you are living on a ragged spiritual edge. God’s peace and joy are fleeting.

If you blow up often, tell the Lord you want to change, and ask Him to bring your emotions under His control. If your temper short-circuited today, confess your sin now, and don’t carry your grudge into tomorrow.

Keep me from mismanaged anger, Lord. Help me bring every emotion under Your control.[1]

Cass Freight Index Down 9th Month “Signaling Economic Contraction” |

Article Image
https://moneymaven.io, by Mish

The Cass Freight Index report cites “More Signs of Contraction”.

When the December 2018 Cass Shipments Index was negative for the first time in 24 months, we dismissed the decline as reflective of a tough comparison. In January and February 2019, we again made rationalizations. When March was also negative (-1.0%), we warned that we were preparing to “change tack” in our outlook; when April was down (-3.2%), we said, “we see material and growing downside risk to the economic outlook.”

With the -3.0% drop in August, following the -5.9% drop in July, -5.3% drop in June, and the -6.0% drop in May, we repeat our message from last three months: the shipments index has gone from “warning of a potential slowdown” to “signaling an economic contraction.”
We acknowledge that: all of these negative percentages are against extremely tough comparisons, and the Cass Shipments Index has gone negative before without being followed by a negative GDP. However, weakness in demand is being seen across most modes of transportation, both domestically and internationally, with many experiencing increases in the rates of decline.

It is Past Time to Out the NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) as a Dangerous Cult Part I

Absolute Truth from the Word of God

Any time that church leadership places the Word of God on the “back burner” so to speak,  Satan patiently waits for his opportunity to swoop in with his “Did God say…?” And it’s all downhill from there.

 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths”. (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

Brethren, notice that this passage of Scripture clearly places the burden upon the congregants.  We have all heard people say that they heard this or that from the preacher.  But isn’t it our responsibility to search the Scriptures for ourselves to make sure that the preaching matches the Word of God?

What is Truth?

Jesus told us that He is the Truth:

Court orders Julian Assange to stay in prison while awaiting US extradition | RT – Daily news

A judge has ordered Julian Assange to remain in prison indefinitely while awaiting extradition to the US because of his “history of absconding.”

The WikiLeaks founder was due to be released on September 22 after serving his sentence for breaching bail conditions when he sought refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. Assange spent almost seven years inside the embassy.

On Friday the Westminster Magistrates’ Court claimed there were “substantial grounds” for believing he would flee if released from prison. District Judge Vanessa Baraitser said Assange’s lawyer had not made an application for bail on his behalf, adding “perhaps not surprisingly in light of your history of absconding in these proceedings.”

WikiLeaks and Assange’s mother Christine criticized the court proceedings, saying the judge had refused bail before the defense team had a chance to even request it.

The extradition hearing will start on February 25, 2020, after British Home Secretary Sajid Javid signed off on the extradition request in June. The Australian citizen is fighting extradition to the US where he faces prosecution for allegedly leaking government secrets.

Russian Foreign Ministry on Syria, Venezuela, CNN Rubbish, and US Targeting Russian Nationals – Stephen Lendman

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below) explained that “(h)otbeds of tension remain in areas that are not controlled by the Syrian Government,” notably Idlib (province) and northeastern Syria.”

The same is true in southern areas bordering Iraq and Jordan, notably US-controlled/terrorist infested At Tanf and surrounding areas near the border of both countries.

US military bases in Syria are used as platforms for endless war, waged by US-supported ISIS, al-Nusra, and other jihadists, aided by Pentagon-led terror-bombing.

MZ: Al Nusra terrorists

“continue to shell Syrian government forces’ positions and to attack the Russian Khmeimim air base with attack drones despite the ‘silence regime’ introduced around the Idlib de-escalation zone on August 3.”

In the first 10 days of September, US-supported jihadists launched “over 300 attacks” on government forces, civilians, and Russia’s Khmeimim air base, said MZ, adding:

“(A)bout 50,000 well-armed and experienced terrorists” infest Idlib alone, terrorizing are three million province civilians, holding them hostage — with full support and encouragement from Washington.

“The situation remains volatile in northeastern Syria which is illegally controlled by the United States. The terrorist underground and the so-called ISIS sleeper cells have stepped up their activities as well,” MZ stressed.

While peace, stability and rebuilding is ongoing in parts of war-ravaged Syria, conflict resolution remains unattainable because US hardliners and Israel reject it.

MZ expressed great concern about (US) attempts to further destabilize Venezuela.

Trump regime “plans for a rapid removal of the legitimate – I repeat, legitimate – government of President Nicolas Maduro have failed.”

US sanctions war and other hostile actions harm ordinary Venezuelans most. In cahoots with Trump hardliners, Colombia’s fascist Duque regime permitted CIA and Pentagon elements to train paramilitaries in the country for cross-border attacks.

After the US and OAS puppet regimes it controls invoked the long ago outdated 1947 Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (TIAR), a hostile act, Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza slammed the move, saying:

“We are ready to protect ourselves. We are ready to react We will let no one trample sacred Venezuelan soil. We will respond and hope that never happens.”

Venezuela’s military began exercises to protect areas vulnerable to cross-border attacks from Colombia.

MZ: “We believe (invoking TIAR) can have a dangerous effect on regional security and stability in South America.”

Only 16 of its original 35 member states remain part of the treaty. “Five years ago, in 2014, the Latin American and Caribbean countries proclaimed their region a zone of peace,” said MZ, adding:

“We believe it vitally important that no one rise to the provocation of creating a casus belli. This can meet someone’s interests, but definitely not the interests of Latin Americans.”

Asking Trump regime hardliners to respect international law and cease hostile actions against sovereign Venezuela, Iran, and other countries is an exercise in futility, a waste of time.

CNN is the most distrusted name in television propaganda — masquerading as news. MZ commented on its disinformation report about Russian national Oleg Smolenkov.

Sergey Lavrov said he never met him, saw him, or kept track of his career or movements.

MZ: He “and his family vanished in a foreign country, following which Russia promptly launched criminal proceedings. Two years later, US media reported that the man is staying in the United States,” citing no information verifying it.

CNN’s report was “classic propaganda.” Notoriously Russophobic, it operates as “a (US imperial) tool,” appealing to a know-nothing audience.

MZ explained that Russian national Alexander Korshunov was arrested by Italian authorities in Naples at the Trump regime’s request.

MZ: “We consider the arrest warrant issued by the United States for Korshunov to be a planned provocation,” adding:

Russian citizens traveling abroad legitimately, guilty of no wrongdoing, are extrajudicially abducted at Washington’s request for extradition to the US.

They’re “hunted, including direct kidnapping. Alexander Konshunov is the 48th Russian arrested at the request of the United States in a third country since 2008.”

These incidents are flagrant violations of international law and the rights of targeted individuals.

US “actions are politically biased and are designed to pressure Russia and Russians, along with the sanctions, as well as to raise tensions in our relations with other countries.”

The US is a warrior state, an imperial state, a rogue state at war on humanity, all nations it doesn’t control on its target list for regime change — notably Russia, China and Iran.
