The Fed pumps another $105 billion into markets, continuing its streak of capital injections | Business Insider

  • The Federal Reserve sold $105 billion in market repurchase agreements, or repos, on Tuesday in a continued effort to calm money markets and bring interest rates within their intended range.
  • The bank offered $75 billion in repos expiring overnight and $30 billion in repos expiring in 14 days. Banks bid for more than was available of each repo, signaling strong demand for the government-backed asset.
  • The bank began a streak of repo offerings last week, marking the first time such assets were sold since the 2008 financial crisis. The offerings are set to continue through early October according to the central bank’s schedule.

The Federal Reserve added $105 billion to the nation’s financial system Tuesday in two transactions, seeking to calm money markets and keep interest rates in their intended range.

The New York Fed continued its streak of market repurchase agreements, or repos, Tuesday, selling $75 billion of overnight repos and $30 billion of repos expiring in 14 days. Banks bid for $80.2 billion in overnight repos and $62 billion in 14-day repos, signaling strong demand in the government-backed investments.

Last week marked the first time in a decade the bank had taken such steps to relieve pressure on money markets. The bank offered a total of $278 billion in repos from Tuesday through Friday.

The sales came days after the Federal Open Market Committee cut its benchmark interest rate by a quarter point, landing in a window of 1.75% to 2%. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell called the repo offerings a temporary action.

“Funding pressures in money markets were elevated this week, and the effective federal funds rate rose above the top of its target range,” he said.

The Fed’s schedule calls for another $75 billion of overnight repos to be sold every business day until October 10, with certain days also offering at least $30 billion worth of 14-day repos.

“The Dam Could Break On Thursday”: Here Are 12 Quotes That Signal Democrats Are Primed To Impeach Trump | ZeroHedge News

Authored by Michael Snyder via The End of The American Dream blog,

It looks like they are really going to do it.  The Democrats are actually preparing to begin impeachment proceedings, and as you will see below, one senior House Democratic aide is warning that “the dam could break on Thursday”.

That is the day when acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire is scheduled to testify to the House Intelligence Committee, and Democrats on that committee are going to make it exceedingly clear that they want the whistleblower complaint that is at the center of this latest political firestorm.  It is being alleged that President Trump repeatedly pressured the president of Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter at a time when Ukraine was desperate for military aid from the United States.  President Trump has publicly admitted that he discussed Joe Biden’s corruption with the Ukrainian president, but he insists that he never actually pressured him to do anything.  Trump is offering to release a full transcript of the call in order to prove his point, but that is not going to satisfy the Democrats.  They want the whistleblower complaint, and they want it immediately.

According to Politico, some sources on Capitol Hill are saying that the possibility of impeachment proceedings is “approaching a certainty”, but so much depends on what happens later this week.

Over the course of this week, Democratic leaders are going to do all that they can to get their hands on the whistleblower complaint, and things are likely to come to a head on Thursday when acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire testifies before the House Intelligence Committee.  The following comes from NBC News

But House Democrats have been pulling together a wide-ranging case to impeach President Donald Trump on a series of alleged past and ongoing crimes against the country — a set of charges that goes far beyond the Mueller report — and all signs point to a possible public inflection point later this week, when acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire testifies before the House Intelligence Committee.

“The dam could break on Thursday,” one senior House Democratic aide, whose boss has not endorsed impeachment, told NBC News.

Previously, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had been against impeachment, but now she appears to have changed her tune.

She is insisting that the whistleblower complaint must be turned over, and if that doesn’t happen the New York Times is warning that we should expect “a serious escalation from Congress”…

The fast-moving developments prompted Speaker Nancy Pelosi to level a warning of her own to the White House: Turn over the secret whistle-blower complaint by Thursday, or face a serious escalation from Congress.

By the end of this week, we should have a lot more clarity on what is about to happen.

But at this point, all of the signs are pointing in one direction.  The following are 12 quotes that show that the Democrats are getting ready to impeach Trump…

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff: “I have been very reluctant to go down the path of impeachment, for the reason that I think the founders contemplated, in a country that has elections every four years, that this would be an extraordinary remedy, a remedy of last resort, not first resort. But if the president is essentially withholding military aid at the same time that he is trying to browbeat a foreign leader into doing something illicit, that is, providing dirt on his opponent during a presidential campaign, then that may be the only remedy that is coequal to the evil that that conduct represents.”

Congressman Jim Himes: “Of course it’s an impeachable offense.”

Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney: “I first called for impeachmemt back in June. These latest revelations re: POTUS and Ukraine are absolutely outrageous – they take impeachable offenses to a whole new level, and emphasize the urgency for IMMEDIATE action.”

Congressman Al Green: “”It is time for the Congress to do its job and start the impeachment process, not an inquiry.”

Representative John Larson: “The Director of National Intelligence must comply with the law on Thursday. If not, the Trump Administration has left Congress with no alternative but for the House to begin impeachment proceedings, which I will support.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: “The Inspector General determined that the matter is ‘urgent’ and therefore we face an emergency that must be addressed immediately.”

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff: “This would be, I think, the most profound violation of the presidential oath of office, certainly during this presidency, which says a lot, but perhaps during just about any presidency. There is no privilege that covers corruption. There is no privilege to engage in underhanded discussions.”

Congressman Al Green: “We are at the crossroads of accountability. Either we will hold the president accountable, or we will be held accountable.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: “At this point, the bigger national scandal isn’t the president’s lawbreaking behavior – it is the Democratic Party’s refusal to impeach him for it.”

Congressman Dean Phillips: “I came to Congress on a mission to clean up corruption and restore America’s trust in our government. The President’s pattern of behavior is corrupt at best, treasonous at worst, and puts our rule of law at risk.”

Representative Pramila Jayapal: “It is a deeply serious time, and I think we have a constitutional crisis and I think there is only one remedy at this point.”

Congresswoman Angie Craig: “We have a responsibility to ensure that no one is above the law — particularly our elected leaders. Yesterday, the President and his personal counsel confessed to asking the Ukrainian government to interfere with a political rival. Additionally, President Trump threatened to withhold military aid to our ally if they did not comply. It is clear that the sitting president of the United States placed his own personal interests above the national security of the United States. We must safeguard our electoral process and our very democracy from outside threats. For this reason, the current investigations into corruption must continue. And when there is an abuse of power of this magnitude, it is our responsibility to stand up for what is right. This is why I am calling to open impeachment proceedings — immediately, fairly, and impartially.”

And if impeachment proceedings do move forward, they won’t just be focused on the discussions that Trump has had with the president of Ukraine.

According to NBC News, Democrats are likely to include a whole host of “impeachable offenses” in their charges against Trump…

Democrats are also gathering evidence for possible obstruction of justice charges stemming from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation — including the eyewitness testimony the Judiciary Committee received from former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski last week. Lewandowski testified that the president twice directed him to tell then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions to un-recuse himself and shut down Mueller’s investigation of Trump.

The other buckets of potentially impeachable offenses include obstruction of Congress, a category that covers a laundry list of efforts by Trump to prevent the House from obtaining testimony and documents from various federal officials, agencies and even people who do not work for the government — like Lewandowski — over whom Trump has sought to limit disclosures by asserting executive privilege.

The latest CNN count has 137 of the 235 Democrats in the House in support of impeachment, but the floodgates have now opened and more are coming out in favor of beginning impeachment proceedings with each passing day.

And with Democrats having a solid majority in the House, there is little doubt as to what the outcome would be.

But the problem for Democrats has always been the Senate where Republicans hold a slim majority.  The Republicans currently hold 53 seats, and that always seemed to be an insurmountable obstacle to removing Trump from office.

However, things may have changed due to this latest scandal.  At this point, even Senator Mitt Romney seems deeply troubled by what he is hearing…

Senator Mitt Romney of Utah, the Republican presidential nominee in 2012, was more critical, deeming it “critical for the facts to come out” and saying, “If the president asked or pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate his political rival, either directly or through his personal attorney, it would be troubling in the extreme.”

If push came to shove, it is probably likely that Mitt Romney would vote to remove Donald Trump, and if Trump was removed from office that would open up the door for him to make a run for the White House in 2020.

In addition to Romney, there are several other “moderate” Republicans that will be critical to the outcome of any push for impeachment.  Many of them are not particularly fond of Trump, and Trump knows it.

We have reached one of the most critical moments in American history, and it was probably inevitable that the Democrats were going to come for Trump eventually.

Now we are on the verge of a constitutional crisis that could shake America to the core, and either way the end result is likely to leave tens of millions of Americans deeply angry.

Political tension has been rising to a breaking point for a long time in this nation, and this could be the spark that unleashes chaos that nobody is going to be able to control.

So let us hope for peace, and let us hope that the Democrats are not really as serious about impeachment as they appear to be at this moment.

Pelosi has scheduled a meeting Tuesday afternoon with the chairs of the six committees conducting investigations into Trump, according to a source familiar with the plan. House Democrats have also scheduled an unusual caucus meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Capitol. The topic remains unclear, but aides speculated it would focus on a path forward on impeachment.

Insider Selling Hits 20 Year High As Stock Buybacks Soar | ZeroHedge News

When it comes to the “fair value” of stocks, nobody knows it better than insiders, who tend to aggressively offload shares any time they see the price of their equity holdings as generously high. This, however, may be a problem for the broader market because according to research from Smart Insider, the market is now the most overbought since the first dotcom bubble, as “executives across the US are shedding stock in their own companies at the fastest pace in two decades, amid concerns that the long bull market in equities is reaching its final stages.”

As the FT reports, corporate insiders – typically CEOs, CFOs, and board members, but also venture capital and other early state investors – sold a combined $19BN of stock in their companies through to mid-September. Annualized, this puts them on track to hit $26BN for the year, which would mark the most active year since 2000, when executives sold $37bn of stock amid the giddy highs of the dotcom bubble. That 2019 total would also set a post-crisis high, eclipsing the $25bn of stock sold in 2017.

For those wondering which insiders are scrambling to part with their equity holdings, the answer is simple: virtually everyone – from the VCs behind bungled, rushed IPOs of companies such as WeWork, Uber and Lyft, to iconic stakeholders including members of the Walton family, who have sold a combined $2.2BN of shares in the Walmart retail empire. Executives at Estée Lauder, the cosmetics giant, and clothing group Lululemon Athletica also appear among the most active sellers, according to Smart Insider.

The reason investors care about insider stock sales is that it has traditionally been a handy marker for the confidence of executives in their own companies’ prospects, and the broader valuation of the market. Spikes in selling indicate that top figures in boardrooms around the country are taking advantage of high valuations in the US stock market.

Troy Gayeski, co-chief investment officer for SkyBridge Capital, said that recent moves by central banks to ease monetary policy, in response to deteriorating economic data, are a sign that companies can expect profits to fade.

“In management, you know the boom times are over in terms of record profitability. Why wouldn’t you take money off the table?” Mr Gayeski said.

For those countering that insiders tend to always sell, the truth is that insiders not only paused stock sales late last year when the worst December for US stocks since 1931 sent the market to a brief -20% drop, which ended the year down about 6 per cent, at which point insiders turned buyers. However, since then, the S&P 500 has come roaring back, rising by almost 20% as central banks around the world turned dovish, cut rates and have expanded their direct liquidity injection; and the insider selling has exploded.

But if the insiders are selling who is buying? The answer will come as a surprise to exactly no one. As Bank of America explains, “despite what is usually a seasonally weak time for buybacks, corporate buybacks remained strong last week, driven by Tech for the fourth week in a row.” As a result, cumulative buybacks YTD are already up +20% YoY compared to 2018 which was already a record year for stock buybacks, meaning 2019 will be another record, while rolling 4-wk avg. buybacks are +122% YoY, the highest of any point this year.

To summarize:

  1. Companies issue record amounts of debt
  2. Companies use the debt to repurchase record amounts of stock
  3. Insiders sell (near) record amounts of stock to their own company, even as retail investors buy everything with the S&P at all time high

And that’s why billionaires – like Jamie Dimon – are richer than you.

IT WAS ALL A HOAX: Little Girl Seen Crying in Viral Video at Global Warming Rally Is a Child Actress – She Was Just a Child Prop for the Left — The Gateway Pundit

The international left used innocent children last weekend to push their climate change extremism.
Tens of thousands of children were let out of school so they could go protest against capitalism and global warming.

As we reported on Monday — One terrified little girl in Australia couldn’t even talk to reporters about climate change without crying.

She broke down in tears while talking to reporters about climate change junk science.

But that was not your typical emotional teen.
The girl in the video is an Aussie child actress.

Via Michael Smith News — the girl even has her own profile at an online talent agency.

There is even a video of the girl acting at her school.

With the left nothing is ever what it seems.
Everything is staged to manipulate the masses.
Pure evil.

Obama, the Bidens, the Clintons, the IMF and Others Pillaged Ukraine Then Forced It’s Citizens to Pay Excessive Natural Gas Prices at 50% Above Market — The Gateway Pundit

President Obama, his Vice President Biden and his son, Hillary Clinton, the Clinton Foundation, Mueller, the Podestas, the IMF and others all pillaged the Ukraine and then delayed loans to the country before forcing Ukrainians to pay grossly inflated natural gas prices.  Now these vultures claim they are innocent.

More than a year ago we reported that Robert Mueller was charging Paul Manafort for actions that Mueller committed himself.

The Gateway Pundit reported in August last year that Paul Manafort sits in solitary confinement for crimes he allegedly committed stemming from his work as a lobbyist in Ukraine years ago before Donald Trump ran for president.

For a little back story, Yulia Tymoshenko runs for reelection in Ukraine, she loses, and just like Hillary, Tymoshenko fails to lose gracefully and promises to #Resist. Her victorious opponent, Viktor Yanukovytch, throws her in jail for what many claim to be bogus charges.

We continued:

Anyway, due to all the negative publicity stemming from the Tymoshenko debacle, Yanukovytch tried to repair his image before the public, so he hired the lobbyist, Paul Manafort, who then hires John Podesta’s lobbying outfit. Their job was to make Yanukovytch seem like a really likable guy to the Ukrainian public, so Podesta gets both Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry’s State Department to do photo ops with Yanukovytch because, you know, the DNC coffers needed to be filled during election time, so they had to sell Yanukovytch as a real class act to the adoring public. Obama even went so far as to declare the Ukrainian election to be free and fair.

But guess who else did photo ops with Yanukovytch? Bob Mueller, the same Mueller that’s now prosecuting these very people. Rod Rosenstein’s memo said Mueller was specifically authorized to investigate allegations that Manafort “[c]ommitted a crime or crimes arising out of payments he received from the Ukrainian government before and during the tenure of President Viktor Yanukovych.”

Of course Mueller never recused himself from the Trump-Russia sham investigation due to his activities in the Ukraine.  Meanwhile, Manafort rots in prison for his actions in the Ukraine working with Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Manager John Podesta.  Mueller even gave Podesta’s brother Tony immunity during his corrupt ‘witch hunt’.

But this was just a small part of the corruption and pillaging of the Ukraine by the Democrat Party leaders.

Via the Markets Work, the far left New York Times reported how the Clintons pillaged the Ukraine:

Victor Pinchuk, a steel magnate whose father-in-law, Leonid Kuchma, was president of Ukraine from 1994 to 2005, has directed between $10 million and $25 million to the [Clinton] foundation. He has lent his private plane to the Clintons and traveled to Los Angeles in 2011 to attend Mr. Clinton’s star-studded 65th birthday celebration.

We also reported that Oligarch Victor Pinchuk may have helped divert IMF funds to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

The Markets Work noted:

In addition to being a Clinton Foundation donor, Pinchuk is also on the International Advisory Board of the Atlantic Counsel

The Atlantic Counsel has been historically active in Ukraine through their Ukraine in Europe Initiative. More recently, on January 19, 2017, the Atlantic Counsel announced a partnership with Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Group.

Hunter Biden, former VP Joe Biden’s son, sits on Burisma’s board.

As we reported previously:

Also serving on the International Advisory Board of the Atlantic Council is James Clapper, who served as Obama’s Director of National Intelligence. Funnily enough, Bongino discovered that the Chief Technology Officer of “the only company that investigated the hacking of the DNC’s servers and quickly determined it was the Russians, is a nonresident senior fellow in cybersecurity” at the Atlantic Council. His name is Dmitri Alperovitch (owner of CrowdStrike).”

So the Clintons, Obama, the Bidens, Mueller, the Podestas and the Atlantic Council all were involved in the Ukraine.  But this is just the tip of the iceberg.  The IMF also had shady dealings with the Ukraine related to these same Democrats.

According to Wikipedia

On 28 July 2010, the IMF approved a 29-month $15.15 billion loan to Ukraine.[7] Among others this led to a 50 percent increase on household natural gas utility prices in July 2010 for Ukrainian consumers (a key demand of the IMF in exchange of the loan).[8][9]

By December 2013, the Ukrainian Prime MinisterMykola Azarov, stated “the extremely harsh conditions” of a renewed IMF loan (presented by the IMF on 20 November 2013), which included big budget cuts and a 40% increase in natural gas bills, had been the last argument in favor of the Ukrainian government’s decision to suspend preparations for signing the Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement on 21 November 2013.[11][12][13] The decision to put off signing this EU-Ukraine Association Agreement lead [sic] to massive protests in Ukraine.[14][nb 1]

Then on December 10, 2013, President Yanukovych stated “We will certainly resume the IMF negotiations. If there are conditions that suit us, we will take that path”.[22] However, Yanukovych also (once again) stated that the conditions put forward by the IMF were unacceptable “I had a conversation with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, who told me that the issue of the IMF loan has almost been solved, but I told him that if the conditions remained… we did not need such loans”.[22]

In February 2014 Yanukovych and Azarov were forcibly removed from power (as a result of the pro-EU-Ukraine Association Agreement coup) and replaced by the Yatsenyuk Government.[24]

In March 2014 the IMF required the Ukraine to reform natural gas price subsidies in order to provide it with an aid package worth about $15 billion.[25] One of the expected effects was a 50% price hike on natural gas sold to domestic Ukrainian consumers.[25]

The Markets Work reported that Hunter Biden was placed on Burisma’s board after Obama’s State Department employee Victoria Nuland and the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt held a phone conversation regarding installation of Arseniy Yatsenyuk in place of then-President Yanukovych. This call occurred on or before February 4, 2014.

On February 22, 2014, Yanukovych was removed as President of Ukraine and on February 27,  2014, Yatsenyuk was installed as Prime Minister of Ukraine.  (Yatsenyuk would resign in April 2016 amidst corruption accusations.)

On April 18 2014, Hunter Biden was appointed to the Board of Directors for Burisma – one of the largest natural gas companies in Ukraine.  Then on April 22, 2014, Obama’s Vice President Biden traveled to the Ukraine and offered support and $50 million in aid for Yatsenyuk’s shaky new government.

As a result of all this activity, the Bidens got a place on the Board of one of the largest natural gas companies in the Ukraine, the Clintons received millions from a Ukrainian Oligarch, the IMF got billions in loans with the Ukraine, and the people of the Ukraine were burdened with excessive natural gas prices.

And there it is.

Stephen C. Meyer lectures on intelligent design and the origin of life

Christianity and the progress of science Christianity and the progress of science

A MUST-SEE lecture based on Dr. Stephen C. Meyer’s book “Signature in the Cell“.

I highly recommend watching the lecture, and looking at the slides. The quality of the video and the content is first class. There is some Q&A (9 minutes) at the end of the lecture.

  • intelligent design is concerned with measuring the information-creating capabilities of natural forces like mutation and selection
  • Darwinists think that random mutations and natural selection can explain the origin and diversification of living systems
  • Darwinian mechanisms are capable of explaining small-scale adaptive changes within types of organisms
  • but there is skepticism, even among naturalists, that Darwinian mechanisms can explain the origin of animal designs
  • even if you concede that Darwinism can account for all of the basic animal body plans, there is still the problem of life’s origin

President Trump Singles Out China – SLAMS Communist Giant for Unfair Trade Practices During UN General Assembly Speech (VIDEO) — The Gateway Pundit

President Trump called out the globalists and China for the unfair trade deals that have decimated the US Middle Class.

Trump promoted trade that is fair and reciprocal.

Trump then went on to mention the ongoing China trade negotiations. President Trump told the general assembly that China has not acted in good faith. The United States lost 60,000 factories after China entered the WTO. The second largest country in the world should not be able to declare itself a developing country at the expense of others.

President Trump, “I will never fail to defend America’s interests.”

Once again, President Trump showed the international community what true leadership looks like.

“Your Policies are Cruel and Evil” – President Trump Lashes Out at Open Borders Social Justice Activists During UN Speech (VIDEO) — The Gateway Pundit

President Trump spoke to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
It was another historic speech.

President Trump called out China, Iran, North Korea and the Taliban.

President then called out the open borders social justice activists.

President Trump: Illegal immigration is one of our most critical challenges which undermines prosperity, rips apart societies and empowers US criminal cartels. Mass illegal migration is unfair, unsafe and unsustainable for everyone involved… The receiving countries are overburdened with more migrants than they can responsibly accept. And the migrants themselves are exploited, assaulted and abused by vicious coyotes. early Nearly one-third of women who make their way to our border are sexually abused. Yet here in the United States and around the world there is a growing cottage industry of radical activists and non-governmental organizations that promote human smuggling. These groups encourage human smuggling. These groups encourage illegal migration and demand erasure of national borders. Today I have a message for those open borders activists who cloak themselves in the rhetoric of social justice. Your policies are not just. Your policies are cruel and evil. You are empowering criminal organizations that prey on innocent men, women and children.

He then thanked Mexican President Lopez Obrador for his assistance at the US southern border.

Trump Shines Spotlight on Christians Being Killed, 1st President to Host UN Religious Freedom Meeting — CBN News feeds

Donald Trump has become the first US President to ever host a meeting at the United Nations on religious freedom.

“As President, protecting religious freedom is one of my highest priorities,” Trump told the nations of the world on Monday.

In his keynote address to the UN, President Trump pointed to alarming statistics showing 80% of the world’s population lives in countries where religious liberty is threatened, restricted, or even banned.

“When I heard that number I said, ‘Please go back and check it because it can’t possibly be correct.’ And sadly it was 80%,” Trump said.

And followers of Christ are among the most heavily persecuted around the world. In fact, it’s estimated that 11 Christians die each day for their faith.

“I mean just think of this, 11 Christians a day for following the teaching of Christ,” Trump said.

But he said the problem of persecution is clearly much broader. “In 2016, an 85-year-old Catholic priest was viciously killed while celebrating mass in Normandy, France. In the past year, the United States endured horrifying anti-Semitic attacks against Jewish Americans at synagogues in Pennsylvania and California. In March, Muslims praying with their families were sadistically murdered in New Zealand. On Easter Sunday this year, terrorists bombed Christian churches in Sri Lanka, killing hundreds of faithful worshippers. Who would believe this is even possible?” Trump said.

In response to this global religious persecution, the President announced an additional $25 million in funding to protect religious sites and relics. There will also be a new business coalition focused on workers.

“This is the first time this has been done,” said Trump. “This initiative will encourage the private sector to protect people of all faiths in the workplace.”

“I think that the fact is that it’s not just words on the part of this administration,” said Frank Gaffney. “I believe that the President’s efforts on behalf of Pastor Brunson made clear that he used the instruments of American power.”

Gaffney, CEO of Save the Persecuted Christians, says it’s now up to the rest of the world to follow suit.

“The most important message, he very much did deliver on the fact by his presence at this event. He put the nations of the world on notice,” he said.

The President urged nations to repeal laws that restrict religious freedom and increase prosecution towards crimes against people of faith.

“To stop the crimes against people of faith, release prisoners of conscience, repeal laws restricting freedom of religion and belief, protect the vulnerable, the defenseless, and the oppressed, America stands with believers in every country who ask only for the freedom to live according to the faith that is within their own hearts,” he said.

Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are running for president on the “guaranteed outcome” ticket.  They have both proposed that the federal government essentially pay your bills.  In return, you will do as you are told and hand over a substantial amount of your earnings and assets to Washington.

(Bill O’Reilly)  “Well we’re waiting here in Allentown, For the Pennsylvania we never found, For the promises our teachers made, If we worked hard, if we behaved.” – Billy Joel

It takes more than that.  Hard work and behaving, I mean.  It takes discipline and persistence as well if you want to pursue happiness at a high level in the good, old USA. Most educators and even parents do not lay it out.  They don’t tell children that economic success comes at a price in a competitive, capitalist system.  An American must be able to make money for a company, or for his or her self in private business.  Ability and production is everything in the “for profit world.”

You produce by developing skills.  Working intensely over a period of time to do certain things very well.  Then you discipline yourself to fulfill every job expectation.  That’s how you prosper.

If you are unwilling to do that, and millions of Americans are, you can get by – but the struggle will be significant.  You may live “paycheck to paycheck,” you’ll likely owe money.  And, if a health or any other kind of crisis hits, you’ll get hammered. View article →

S&P Is Testing 28-Year Resistance And Key Fibonacci Level At The Same Time! — Kimble Charting Solutions

Is the S&P facing a 28-year breakout/resistance test as well as an important Fibonacci extension level at the same time? Looks like it!

The chart looks at the S&P 500 since the early 1990’s. It has spent the majority of the past 28-years inside of rising channel (1).

We applied Fibonacci extension levels to the 2007 highs and 2009 lows.

The S&P is now testing the top of this 28-year rising channel and its 261% extension level at the same time at (2).

Bulls would love = Breakout of the channel and the Fibonacci extension level at the same time

Bears would love = S&P to peak as it kisses the underside of the channel and the Fibonacci extension level!

This looks to be a very important price point for the bulls and bears!

September 24, 2019 Truth2Freedom Briefing Report (US•World•Christian)

President Donald Trump on Monday denied trying to coerce Ukraine into investigating his Democratic rival Joe Biden, but wavered about whether he would release a transcript of a phone call that some Democrats say is grounds for his impeachment.

Joe Walsh and Bill Weld, two of the three Republicans challenging President Donald Trump for their party’s 2020 presidential nomination, are set to meet in a debate on Tuesday, hoping to bring attention to their long-shot candidacies.

Britain, Germany and France backed the United States and blamed Iran on Monday for an attack on Saudi oil facilities, urging Tehran to agree to new talks with world powers on its nuclear and missile programs and regional security issues.

Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said on Tuesday that U.S. sanctions were preventing Tehran’s access to equipment it had bought to stop flaring natural gas and fight dangerous pollution at energy plants.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 shook northern Pakistan on Tuesday, killing eight people and injuring 100, government and police officials said.

Skies over Indonesia turned a shade of blood red this weekend, leaving some locals frightened by their surroundings. The phenomenon, which occurred mainly in the nation’s Jambi province, was caused by the ongoing forest fires that have endangered large parts of the country. It’s an effect known as Rayleigh scattering, where light is dispersed by particles in the air, which filters out certain wavelengths. Rayleigh scattering is the reason the sky usually appears blue, but in this case, particles released by the fires turned everything a deep, dark red.

September 24 Freedom from Inadequacy

scripture reading: Psalm 107
key verse: Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Many people are bound by feelings of inadequacy. They struggle with low self–esteem and unworthiness. Your sense of self–worth comes from only one Source, the Lord Jesus Christ. He would never want you to view your life as being less than the very best in Him.

That is what He has in mind for you—the best. When God thinks of you, He thinks of His Son and what He did for you at Calvary. He never considers all the mistakes of the past or even those that will come in the future (Rom. 8:1). Instead, God focuses on your potential.

He does this because His love and forgiveness are greater than any sin. The Lord hates sin, but He certainly does not look at your life and think, There’s no way for Me to bless him or her because of what he or she has done. God does not operate that way. Read Psalm 107 and discover afresh the chronology of Israel’s mistakes and how God continued to love them.

Is this a license to sin? Certainly not, but it is truly an invitation to love and be loved by the One who loves you the most.

You may think it is too late for you. Nothing could be farther from the truth. This is the glorious freedom Christ brings.

When you fall, God provides a way of forgiveness. He lifts you up and gives you a new opportunity at life. Only Jesus Christ can truly set you free.

O Lord, I feel so inadequate. Please lift me up. Give me a new opportunity at life—free from the shackles of unworthiness.[1]

The duty of remembering the poor

“Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.” Galatians 2:10

suggested further reading: James 2:1–17

If you do not help the one that you see has the greatest need, I am afraid the love of God dwelleth not in you. It is a duty we owe to the poor of the Lord’s flock, and we reap many advantages we should not have if we had not to remember the poor. Now, allow me to press home this obligation: why should we remember the poor? I shall not urge it upon the ground of common philanthropy and charity; that were a too mean and low way of addressing Christian men, although even they perhaps might be benefited by it. I shall urge it in another way. “Remember the poor,” because they are your Lord’s brethren. What! Do you not feel, like David, that you would do anything for Jonathan’s sake? And if he hath some poor sick son, some Mephibosheth, lame in his feet, wilt thou not seat him at thy table, or give him a maintenance, if thou canst, seeing that Jonathan’s blood is in his veins? Remember, beloved, the blood of Jesus runs in the veins of poor saints; they are his relatives, they are his friends; and if that move thee not, remember, they are thy friends too. They are thy brethren if thou art a child of God; they are allied to thee; if they are sons of God, so art thou, and they are brethren of thine. What! Let thy brother starve? If thou canst, wilt thou not relieve thy brother’s necessity, not shield him from the cold, not ward off hunger, not provide for his needs? Oh! I know thou lovest Jesus; I know thou lovest the friends of Jesus, and I know thou lovest thine own family; and, therefore, thou wilt love thy poor brethren, wilt thou not? I know thou wilt; thou wilt relieve them.

for meditation: Do you discriminate against some of your brothers and sisters in Christ? Your heavenly Father doesn’t (Galatians 3:28; Ephesians 6:9).

Pakistani Army trained Al-Qaeda, but back when ‘jihadis were heroes’, PM Khan admits — RT World News

Al-Qaeda, the terrorist group blamed for the September 11, 2001 attacks, received training in Pakistan back in the 1980s, but the aim was to fight the Soviet Army in Afghanistan, Imran Khan has said.

Speaking to the Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Monday, the prime minister was asked if Islamabad had carried out an investigation into how Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was allegedly able to live in Pakistan for years before being found and killed by US Navy Seals in 2011.

“There has been an investigation, but… I don’t know what the conclusion was,” Khan replied. He then hinted that bin Laden’s living arrangements might have been the result of “links” between Pakistan’s military and the terrorist group.

“The Pakistani Army, ISI [Inter-Services Intelligence], trained Al-Qaeda and all these groups to fight [the Soviet Union] in Afghanistan,” Khan said. “There were also links between Pakistan [and Al-Qaeda] – there had to be links – because they trained them. After 9/11, when we did a 180 degree turn and went after those groups, you know, not everyone agreed with us. In the army people didn’t agree with us.”

Responding to a separate question, Khan stated that the US helped Pakistan to “organize the resistance” to the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. He argued that back in the 1980s, “jihadis were heroes,” but that after the conflict ended, Islamabad was “left with” the extremist groups it had helped create.

Al-Qaeda was founded in 1988, toward the end of the Soviet-Afghan War. The group was part of the once-lionized Mujahideen, which received support from the US, Pakistan, and other nations in their insurgency against the Soviets.

Drawing Near to God

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22

suggested further reading: 1 John 3:14–24

The writer of Hebrews tells us that in Christ and his sacrifice is nothing but what is spiritual or heavenly. So we must do our part to correspond with this great sacrifice.

The Jews formerly cleansed themselves by various washings to prepare themselves for service to God. The priest, being a mortal, was chosen from among sinners to perform sacred things for a time. He was adorned with precious vestments of this world that he might stand in the presence of God. Yet he alone came near the ark of the covenant. To sanctify his entrance, the priest borrowed a brute animal either from the herd or the flock for a sacrifice.

In Christ, our heavenly priest, all these things are far superior. He is not only pure and innocent, but he is the fountain of all holiness and righteousness. He was consecrated as a priest by a heavenly oracle, not for the short period of a mortal life, but forever. To sanction his appointment, an oath was interposed. He came forth adorned with all the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the highest perfection, he propitiated God by his own blood and reconciled him to men, he ascended above all the heavens to appear before God as our mediator.

Nothing is to be brought on our part but what corresponds with all this, as there ought to be a mutual agreement or concord between the priest and the people. We can do away, then, with all the external washings of the flesh. We may cease the whole apparatus of ceremonies, for the apostle sets in opposition to these external rites a true heart, the certainty of faith, and a cleansing from all vices. Hence we learn what the condition of our hearts must be so that we may enjoy the benefits conferred by Christ. We cannot come to him without an upright or true heart, a sure faith, and a pure conscience.

for meditation: Assurance in Christ and a good conscience in the believer ride in tandem in the believer’s life. We cannot persist in high levels of assurance if we persist in low levels of obedience. Why is this so? How can we foster greater measures of obedience in our lives without falling into legalism or justification by works?[1]

How should Trump & the Saudis respond to Iran’s “act of war”? And how serious are they about restoring deterrence? I discussed all this with i24 TV News. Here’s the interview. — Joel C. Rosenberg’s Blog

(Washington, DC) — Just before I left for Washington, I did a live interview with i24 TV News from Jerusalem on the escalating tensions in the Gulf and what may come next.

Among the questions that anchors Nurit Ben and Calev Ben-David asked me:

  • With Secretary Pompeo calling Iran’s attack on Saudi oil facilities an “act of war,” how closely aligned do you think the White House’s views are with the Saudis’ views?
  • With President Trump facing elections in 2020, isn’t he going to be reluctant to start a new war in the Middle East — and can’t the Saudis simply defend themselves without US help?
  • How can the US and the Saudis restore deterrence against Iran? Is there any way other than military action to achieve deterrence? Aren’t leaders in the region growing concerned that President Trump might not have their back if a real war erupts?
  • Shouldn’t the Saudis turn to Israel to buy for missile defense systems to protect their Kingdom? Yet, wouldn’t that require peace between Riyadh and Jerusalem? Are the Saudis trending towards real peace and cooperation with Israel?

Important questions all.

Click here to watch my answers — the interview runs a bit over 6 minutes.

Negative Rates Can’t Save The Empire: It’s The Debt Stupid! – YouTube

Central Planning is always destined to fail, and central planners (at everyone else’s expense) always do whatever they can to delay the inevitable. Negative interest rates (that is, getting paid to borrow money) would never occur in a free market monetary system. Such a ludicrous idea will only further exacerbate the end of central banking. Debt continues to skyrocket, and the interest payments will only get more unbearable. It’s time to audit and then End The Fed.
