October 30 Successful Sanctification

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:1–7

Key Verses: 1 Peter 1:1–2

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the … elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

In many places throughout the Scriptures, we find the word sanctification. Sanctification means “to make holy” or “to separate from a common use to a sacred use.” When you trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior, He sanctified you, setting you apart for a very sacred purpose.

The process of sanctification begins at salvation, where those who believe are deemed saints (1 Corinthians 1:1–2). Every believer is a saint, because God has made it so (1 Peter 1:2). Positionally, we are saints, even if our conduct is un-Christlike.

This is because, at the pivotal moment of salvation, we changed positions (Ephesians 2:1–5). We were born again, our sins were forgiven, we were adopted into the family of God, and we are now living under the grace of God instead of under His wrath.

It is important to understand that this first stage of sanctification was done for us by God. No human is holy in himself. We are sanctified only by the blood of Jesus Christ, the work completed for us by a loving heavenly Father. Stop to thank and praise God for His purifying love and grace.

Praise You, Lord, for setting aside this ordinary human to be used for Your sacred purposes. Thank You that it is not accomplished by my work, but by Your grace.[1]

The Five Solas — Ligonier Ministries Blog

We’re saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone. In this brief clip, R.C. Sproul walks us through the five solas of the Reformation.

This Reformation Month, watch a short video every day on the history and insights of the Protestant Reformation. And don’t forget that for a donation of any amount this month only, you can also receive a copy of Luther: The Life and Legacy of the German Reformer, a documentary featuring interviews with R.C. Sproul and several Ligonier Teaching Fellows, on DVD. Offer ends 10/31/18.

Throughout the “Solas,” the accent is on the qualifier alone. The created world is called to reflect the glory of God. The very fact that God makes a creature places that creature in debt to the Creator. And the only reason you exist and that I exist is for Him. There’s nothing inherently dignified about dirt, and that’s what we’ve been made from. The reason why you count is because God says you count. And the whole world is full of His glory. Only God can bind the conscience absolutely. The peasant armed with one verse of Scripture has more authority than a pope or a church council who does not have Scripture. This is crossed out by the Reformers. This is crossed out by the Reformers. And my inherent righteousness is crossed out. So that you have faith alone, grace alone, Christ alone. The divine prerogative for mercy and grace is “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy.” That’s His prerogative. God does not owe saving grace to anybody.

I talked to my Arminian friends all the time about this and say, “look, let me ask you a question. Why is it you’re a believer, and many members of your own family or friends that you have are not believers when you both heard the gospel?” Jesus doesn’t say no man can come to him unless God helps it. He says no man can come to Him unless God, in fact, gives it to him. No one is saved just because they affirmed the doctrine of justification. What happens if you deny the doctrine of justification by faith alone? Now that’s a different matter because now you’re denying that you’re saved by Christ and by Christ alone, and that denial may be enough to damn you. Christ alone merits salvation in front of a just and holy God. Because He’s the only one who is sinless. The whole doctrine of justification by faith, the whole doctrine of salvation by grace rests on the principle that the law of God has been fulfilled by Christ. When I put my trust in Him, He computes or counts to me His righteousness. And on the basis of that imputed righteousness, God declares me just right now. So if I die right now, I go to heaven right now, because I have all the righteousness I will ever need to get there—namely the righteousness of Jesus Christ. That’s good news. You reject that you’re rejecting the gospel.

October 30 A Fresh Encounter with God

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 6:1–9

Key Verse: Psalm 139:3

You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

Have you ever approached your devotional time with the idea of actually meeting with God? It is easy to reduce a quiet time to little more than a perfunctory Bible reading or study and a quick prayer if you forget the real purpose of setting aside that time.

God wants you to have a real and fresh encounter with Him each day. You don’t generate this meeting through any formula or particular method; you simply come before Him with a humble, repentant heart and a genuine desire to know Him more.

You gain a sense of His presence. Isaiah knew immediately that he was in the presence of the living God. When the meeting ended, Isaiah walked away a changed man. You cannot experience God’s presence and be the same; God’s holiness is life changing, and through the Holy Spirit, He lives inside you forever.

You are never without His presence. You sense your unworthiness. As you come face-to-face with God’s holiness, you realize your needy state. His awesome brightness eclipses even the angels in heaven.

The standard of His righteousness illuminates the sin in your life. You need to understand His forgiveness. The purpose of recognizing sin is not for condemnation and guilt, but for repentance. Christ forgives all your sins, but He wants you to confess them in order to experience His wondrous grace.

Precious Lord, I want to have a fresh encounter with You today. I want to know You better. Meet with me, and when our meeting ends, let me walk away changed.[1]

October 30 Praying for God’s Will

Scripture reading: Colossians 1:9–14

Key verse: Psalm 68:28

Your God has commanded your strength;

Strengthen, O God, what You have done for us.

The most powerful act anyone can perform is to pray for someone. Of course, the power is not in the praying, but in the release God gives in His perfect answer to our prayers. Paul provided an example of one of the most effective prayers we could utter. He prayed for the Colossian church:

  • to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will. What a wonderful gesture to ask God to make clear for family members or friends the precise, exact decisions He wishes them to make in every circumstance.
  • to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. This means asking that someone’s life will have weight—will count eternally and not temporally.
  • to bear fruit in every good work. We should pray for loved ones to remain so Christ-centered that He through them determines their conversation, conduct, and character.
  • to increase in the knowledge of God. Can there be a more precious request than that of wanting someone to grow ever closer to our heavenly Father?
  • to be strengthened and sustained with the power of God. Within an evil world system, we need the supernatural power of God to help us bear up under the strain.
  • to give thanks for having qualified as saints of God. There is nothing for which we should be more appreciative.

Father, today I pray for those I love—that they will be filled with the knowledge of Your will and walk in a manner worthy of You. Let them bear fruit in every good work and be strengthened and sustained by Your power.[1]

Lecrae, Kirk Franklin Boycott Dove Awards For Not Allowing Them to Spread Racist Divisive Rhetoric | Reformation Charlotte

In 2016, “gospel” artist, Kirk Franklin, received the Gospel Artist of the Year Award at the annual Dove Awards — basically the Christian version of the Grammys. During his acceptance speech, Franklin tried to incite racial division by blaming white people for the death of two black men, Philando Castile and Walter Scott, who were shot by white police officers. The Gospel Music Association (GMA) who hosts the awards ceremony edited his comments out.

In 2019, rinse, repeat, the foul-mouthed pro-abortion “gospel singer” once again tried to use his platform to further a divisive and racist narrative. Franklin says the edited version, which aired on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), edited out his comments on Atatiana Jefferson, the 28-year-old who was shot and killed in her home by a Fort Worth police officer.

Now, he says he will be boycotting the Dove Awards — and Lecrae will be joining him.

His post received thousands of comments including one from fellow woke rap artist, Lecrae. “I only came (to the Doves) cause you came,” Lecrae told Franklin on Instagram. “You know I’m out.”

Franklin says he will “boycott any events affiliated with or for the Dove Awards, Gospel Music Association or TBN until tangible plans are put in place to protect and champion diversity, especially where people of color have contributed their gifts, talents, and finances to help build the viability of these institutions.”

Hundreds Of Christian Denominations Scramble To Recruit Kanye West — The Babylon Bee

U.S.—After Kanye West converted to Christianity, Christian denominations across the country immediately began scrambling to woo him over.

Kanye West says he’s been flooded with gift baskets, swag, and monetary offers from Christian denominations looking to get him to join their church.

The Baptists sent West a gift basket full of casseroles, while a local Reformed church sent him a 12-pack of craft beer. A charismatic congregation sent a representative to speak in tongues, while the Catholics sent a priest to exorcise his house and also offer him a gift basket of crackers and wine.

“I am keeping all my options open,” West told reporters. “My agent and I are looking through all the offers to see what the best deal is, what the greatest deal of all time is. Of all time.”

“We love you, Kanye! Come check out Cityriselife Church! We have free coffee and a complimentary mini donut for guests! Visit us this Sunday!” one desperate pastor replied to a Kanye post on Twitter. All of his Twitter replies were filled with similar posts, with pastors scrambling to offer him all kinds of swag to get him to join up.

Representatives for these denominations deny they are doing this for West’s tithing potential.

Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copeland have each offered West a private jet to come over to their side.

World-Renowned Forensic Pathologist Dr. Michael Baden Says Pedophile Jeffrey Epstein Was Murdered In His Manhattan Federal Prison Cell — Now The End Begins

Jeffrey Epstein’s autopsy more consistent with homicidal strangulation than suicide, Dr. Michael Baden reveals

Mere days before lawyers for convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein were about to release his list of over 1,000 names of famous people who allegedly spent time in his infamous ‘Lolita Express’ jet and went to his island for sex with children, Epstein shockingly committed suicide in his prison cell. In an amazing twist of coincidence, the guards assigned to him disappeared, the security cameras suddenly stopped functioning, and this man sitting in a high-security cell died. Oh, he had also been taken off suicide watch even though he had tried to ‘commit suicide’ a week earlier. Kind of reminds you of the ‘jet plane’ that hit the Pentagon on 9/11, doesn’t it? Security cameras suddenly stop working at the moment of impact, no trace of a jet plane, explosion consistent with a guided missile, you get the idea.

“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7 (KJV)

So how did they distract you this time? Sadly, it was pathetically easy to do.. Within days of the murder of Jeffrey Epstein, the media focus suddenly switched to Greta Thunberg, the child activist puppet of the Left, as she sailed all the way from Plymouth. England to speak at the United Nations in New York City. As she screamed “you have stolen my dreams“, the American people forgot all about Jeffrey Epstein and his induction into the Clinton Body Count. Amazing how that works, isn’t it? And it works every time.

Henry Ford nearly 100 years ago prophetically remarked that “It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” That’s right on the money, the American people do not understand about the government within our government, the one that no one ever votes for but has all the power. They killed Jeffrey Epstein, they killed Seth Rich, they did 9/11, and right now, they are trying to get rid of something they never saw coming. Donald Trump.

There were hemorrhages in Epstein’s eyes common in homicidal strangulation

FROM FOX NEWS: The body of disgraced money man and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his Manhattan federal prison cell in August, bore telltale signs of homicide despite an official ruling that he killed himself, a pioneering forensic pathologist revealed to “Fox & Friends” in an exclusive interview Wednesday.

The bombshell claim by Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City medical examiner who has worked on high-profile cases during a five-decade medical career, is certain to reignite suspicions that surfaced immediately after Epstein, who was awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges involving underage girls, was discovered dead in his cell on Aug. 10. Baden, who was hired by Epstein’s brother and observed the autopsy, told Fox News its findings are more consistent with homicidal strangulation than suicidal hanging. He noted that the 66-year-old Epstein had two fractures on the left and right sides of his larynx, specifically the thyroid cartilage or Adam’s apple, as well as one fracture on the left hyoid bone above the Adam’s apple, Baden told Fox News.

“Those three fractures are extremely unusual in suicidal hangings and could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation,” Baden, who is also a Fox News contributor, said.

While there’s not enough information to be conclusive yet, the three fractures were “rare,” said Baden, who’s probed cases involving O.J. Simpson, President John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, record producer Phil Spector, New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez and many others.

“I’ve not seen in 50 years where that occurred in a suicidal hanging case,” the 85-year-old medical legend told Fox News.

Baden, who’s examined more than 20,000 bodies and hosted HBO’s “Autopsy,” explained that if a person weighed 120 pounds and their head weighed 10 pounds, there would be 110 pounds of pressure on the neck at the jaw during a hanging. But, if someone put a hand around a person’s neck and squeezed, that could double or even triple the pressure on the neck, Baden said.

There were also hemorrhages in Epstein’s eyes that were common in homicidal strangulation and uncommon, though not unheard of, in suicidal hangings, the forensic pathologist said.

“The prominent hemorrhage in the soft tissues of the neck next to the fractures is evidence of a fresh neck compression that could have caused the death,” Baden said.

Jeffrey Epstein was found hanging in his prison cell at the high-security Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan and was later declared dead, investigators said.

Prosecutors alleged that the previously convicted sex offender paid girls as young as 14 hundreds of dollars for massages before he molested them in his homes in New York and Palm Beach, Fla., between 2002 and 2005. He was awaiting trial in federal prison, thus federal agencies — presumably the FBI and Justice Department — had jurisdiction over the investigation into his death, Baden explained. READ MORE

Nikki Haley Criticizes Those In Trump Administration Undermining Him: ‘The President Was The Choice Of The People’ | The Daily Wire

Speaking at the annual dinner of the American Enterprise Institute, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley criticized colleagues of hers in the Trump administration “who believed that the best thing to do for America was to undermine and obstruct the president,” asserting, “The president was the choice of the people, in accordance with our founding charter. No policy disagreement with him, no matter how heartfelt, justifies undermining the lawful authority that is vested in his office by the Constitution.”

Haley’s speech was redolent with praise for America’s role in the world and optimism for the future as she stated, “I want to start by saying I am optimistic about America’s future. I know that for those who spend too much time on Twitter, it may at times look like it’s all over for the American experiment. Depending on which cable network you prefer, there is a sense that things are coming off the rails in America today.”

She continued, “But America has survived a revolution, a foreign invasion, a civil war, a great depression, the largest war in world history, and social unrest of a dozen different stripes. And we’ve come out stronger after every test.”

Haley noted, “We have lots of people who are attempting to reject the very things that set America apart. This is a real problem. And it’s one we should strongly resist. Our history is being attacked as a lie. Influential voices on the left claim America was founded not in freedom, but in oppression. The idea that we must be in control of our borders is dismissed as uncaring bigotry. Some are attempting to redefine American citizenship itself.”

Haley countered those perspectives, recalling her experience at the U.N. and comparing the American experience to those from other countries:

What I saw cut through the loud and polarizing voices in our country. I saw what sets America apart — what we must protect and preserve. When you’ve heard a South Sudanese refugee woman tell you about watching soldiers throw her baby into a fire — When you’ve seen Venezuelan families walk for hours in the blazing sun to reach Colombia in order to receive the one meal they will have that day — When you’ve negotiated with representatives of a Chinese regime that is building a surveillance state that would horrify Orwell — When you’ve seen and done these things, you see just how profound the gifts are that we have received as Americans.

Haley quoted President Calvin Coolidge’s statement on the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence: “Amid all the clash of conflicting interests, amid all the welter of partisan politics, every American can turn for solace and consolation to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.”

She continued:

That statement is just as fitting today. Equality before the law. Freedom. Inalienable rights. These are not abstractions. They are our inheritance as human beings. The Declaration of Independence outlined them. The Constitution established them as a system of government. It is these sacred principles that make me optimistic.

Haley decried those who would call upon America to relinquish its role as an advocate of freedom and human dignity abroad, saying bluntly:

A world without United States leadership does not mean a world in which our values and interests peacefully coexist with other countries. If it meant countries could live peacefully pursuing their interests, there would be more to recommend the United States retreating from the world. Instead, it means a world with Chinese values devoted to Chinese interests. It means a world with Russian values devoted to Russian interests. It means a world in which radical Islam runs rampant. That is a dark place for American values and a dangerous place for American security.

Haley challenged those who didn’t agree:

If you don’t believe me, I invite you to spend a day in the United Nations Security Council. Some of its most powerful members not only don’t share American values; they actively work to defeat them. We faced a choice: either sacrifice our values in an attempt to win friends at the UN, or defend our values and fight some fights virtually alone. Freedom and human dignity aren’t just the right values to promote; they are our most powerful foreign policy tools. Which is why we fought for them.

She noted, “On Israel, after a heartbreaking betrayal by the previous administration, we once again embraced our friend and ally. At the UN, Israel is the clearest example of this worldwide clash of values. The only fully democratic country in the Middle East is routinely demonized as an oppressor … If America does not lead the way in stopping this nonsense, no one else will.”

She concluded, “I believe in the American people’s ability to find our way through any challenge by honoring the beliefs that define us. There will always be work to do to be a more perfect union. But we will always do better if we acknowledge the truth that the world already knows about us: Even on our worst days, we are all blessed to be Americans.”

Death Toll Mounts As Syrian Army & Turkey Engage In Heavy Clashes On Border

In an intensifying situation which could mean major war between two state powers is on the horizon, Syrian state news agency SANA has reported “heavy” ongoing clashes between the Syrian Army and Turkish forces since Sunday. Turkish authorities also confirmed the clashes on Wednesday.

Fighting has centered around the northern Syrian town of Ras al-Ayn on the border with Turkey, which initially broke out last last week, resulting multiple reported deaths of Syrian troops, according to ReutersAt least six Syrian military personnel were reported killed by Turkish fire on Tuesday.

Underscoring the reality of a crowded battlefield with multiple actors, from which US forces just partially extricated themselves, both pro-Assad and Syrian Kurdish forces have come under Turkish attack. There’s also been fighting reported around Manbij.

Turkey’s military has accused the Kurdish YPG of launching attacks on its forces using mortars, drones and light weapons, which has resulted in at least five Turkish soldiers wounded.

Early this week multiple videos surfaced online via Syrian jihadist accounts showing Turkish-backed ‘rebel’ groups bragging about executing Syrian soldiers, as many as 20.

Clashes at Ras al-Ayn illustrate the scramble to secure territory by each side in the wake of US withdrawal from the border area — Kurdish YPG forces hold the town under Turkish assault, while Syrian troops have reportedly been invited in with agreement of Kurdish forces.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday Turkey’s vice president condemned the passage of a US House resolution and a bill passed in the US House the day prior, saying it’s “against the spirit of the Syria agreement” brokered with Mike Pence and backed by the White House.

The House voted overwhelmingly to pass a resolution recognizing the Armenian genocide which began in 1915, an extremely sensitive issue for Turkey, as well as to pass new biting economic sanctions over its Syria incursion – the latter which Trump is expected to reject.
