December 8 Future Security

Scripture Reading: Psalm 123:1–4

Key Verse: Lamentations 3:22

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.

The book of Lamentations was written by Jeremiah soon after the fall of Jerusalem. It reflects the great mourning of those whose homes had been destroyed. It was an awful time for the people of Judah. Their loved ones were deported to Babylon, and enemy armies occupied the holy temple of Solomon.

All that had represented security to Judah was gone. The country was dispersed, the center of worship desecrated, the armies defeated, and families disbanded. If you have ever experienced this deep a loss, or have had your security stripped from you, you know the awful despair that can overcome the soul.

Yet Jeremiah was not completely given over to desolation. He believed God’s compassions would never fail (Lamentations 3:22). Jeremiah held on to a security which was deeper than anything the nation could offer. William Gurnall writes, “The Christian, like a chalice without a base, cannot stand on his own nor hold what he has received any longer than God holds him in His strong hands.”

You have protection that goes beyond armies and buildings, because you have God’s strong hands holding you. When you go through difficulties, you have security that can never be taken away. You can know your future is secure.

Oh Father, I have put my focus on physical security. Yet there are always new threats. Help me to realize that Your compassions are with me no matter what the circumstances.[1]

December 8 Your Source of Hope

Scripture Reading: Psalm 42

Key Verse: Psalm 42:1

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.

Hope brings an anticipation of blessing. We live in hope of our wedding day, the birth of a child or grandchild. We have hope over graduation from college or the day we can finally place a “Dr.” in front of our names. There are as many reasons to hope as there are people.

To know hope, you must endure times of hopelessness. Hope represents an end to desperate longing—a need that begs to be satisfied and in the end is fulfilled. When hope burns within your heart, it cries out to be heard.

The psalmist declared, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for Thee, O God … My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all day long, ‘Where is your God?’ ” (Ps. 42:1, 3 nasb).

What is your hope, your dream, the cry of your heart? Take a moment and go to Jesus with your deepest, most earnest plea. The psalmist cried out, “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me?” (Ps. 42:5 nasb). Nothing is known about the man’s struggle other than that it was critical to him.

Realize that whatever is important to you is even more important to the Lord. Let Him be your Source of hope for the future.

Dear heavenly Father, You hear the cry of my heart. The things that are important to me are important to You. You are my hope for the future. I rest in that knowledge.[1]

Muslim Ilhan Omar Recites Islamic Prayer To Allah At Catholic Church In One World Religion Chrislam Service Attended By Over 25 Members Of The 116th Congress — Now The End Begins

Muslim Ilhan Omar recently posted a video of herself reciting am Islamic prayer at a Catholic Church in One World Religion Chrislam service attended by Congress.

Everywhere you look now, the One World Religion of Chrislam is coming together, orchestrated by some of the most-people religious figures of our day. At the top you have Pope Francis with his Chrislam covenant called the “Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” document that he has already had major players from Islam and Buddhism sign off on. Beneath that you have Laodicean Christians like Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, Kenneth Copeland and others feeding their sheep to the Vatican to get them in line. Even our elected officials in Washington, as you will see in today’s story, are all willing to “come together in unity”, the false unity of Chrislam.

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Revelation 3:20-22 (KJV)

They held a Bipartisan Multi faith prayer service for 116th Congress at St Peter’s Catholic Church in DC back in January, as the 116th United States Congress was officially opened, and it serves as an excellent illustration of the coming One World Religion of Chrislam. Chrislam being the merging of the Catholic Church with Islam to form a new entity we call Chrislam. You had Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, Hindus and Buddhists, the only group that was not represented was Bible believing Christians. Bible believers are absolutely, 100% not welcome in this burgeoning One World Religion of Chrislam, we are locked outside the door with Jesus. Chrislam is the new path forward in the darkening end times.

Muslim Ilhan Omar Reads Islamic Prayer At Catholic Church Chrislam Prayer Service

On Thanksgiving, Ilhan Omar posted a video on Twitter with a video of her in the pulpit in a Catholic church. In the video, Omar is reciting a Muslim prayer. The video was recorded at an “interfaith service” at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in the Washington D.C. area.

Ilhan Omar posted the video with the heading:

Alhamdulillah (Praise to Allah) for the opportunity to serve my constituents, to care for my children and have a wonderful love in my life.”

“This is a prayer a read on the start of Congress and feel grounded in its blessings. Thank you all for standing with me and for our progressive movement!”

“There is a prayer in Islam that says, ‘Allah, put courage into my heart, and take away all that might hinder serving you,’” starts Omar. “Free my tongue to proclaim your goodness, that all may understand me.”

“Give me friends to advise and help me, that by working together our efforts may bear abundant fruit,” she continued. “And, above all, let me constantly remember that my actions are worthless unless they are guided by your hand.”

“Allah, may everything that I do start well and finish well. Sustain me with your power. And in your power, let me drive away (all falsehood, ensuring that truth may always triumph),” Omar concluded.

The prayer service was attended by over two dozen members of congress. Also in attendance was Azhar Azeez , president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), who tweeted about the event.  READ MORE

December 8 His Mighty Arms

Scripture reading: Revelation 1:19–20

Key verse: Revelation 1:17

When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.”

John wasn’t accustomed to seeing Jesus as he did in the overpowering, apocalyptic vision of Revelation.

His memory stretched back to a time when he had walked and talked with the Lord. During Jesus’ ministry on earth, His human appearance was absolutely ordinary. He interacted with people, listening to them and talking with them about the Father.

Imagine how stunned John was when Jesus appeared to him on the isle of Patmos. The Bible tells us that Christ’s head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and “His eyes like a flame of fire … He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword” (Rev. 1:14, 16).

Not surprisingly, John reacted in the same way he did at the Transfiguration—he fell down, overcome with terror. But in His unchanging mercy and tenderness, Jesus comforted John with the same reassurance: “He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, ‘Do not be afraid’ ” (Rev. 1:17).

Jesus’ intent is never to terrify or exercise tyrannical authority. He came to save and forgive you. His goal is to bring eternal comfort, hope, and restoration to your heart. He chooses to display His awe-inspiring majesty to demonstrate His true godhood and ability to save. This is the Jesus who welcomes you into His almighty arms.

Lord, thank You for the gifts of Your eternal comfort, hope, and restoration. I lean upon Your mighty arms today.[1]

Giuliani Will Make Report on Ukraine to Attorney General and Congress, Trump Says | The Epoch Times

President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, will make a report to Congress and the attorney general on the findings from his recent meetings with former Ukrainian officials, according to the president.

“Well, I just know he came back from someplace, and he’s going to make a report—I think—to the Attorney General and to Congress,” Trump said outside the White House on Dec. 7 in response to a question about Giuliani’s trip to Europe. “He says he has a lot of good information. I have not spoken to him about that information.”

Giuliani traveled to Kiev, Ukraine, and Brussels, Belgium, early this month and met and interviewed several former Ukrainian officials, including former Prosecutors-General Yuriy Lutsenko and Viktor Shokin, and Ukrainian political consultant Andrii Telizhenko. Shokin, Lutsenko, and Telizhenko have previously alleged misconduct by Obama-administration officials, including former Vice President Joe Biden and former Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.

Giuliani alleged on Twitter on Dec. 6 that $5.3 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine was misused, with much of the money going to non-governmental organizations favored by the U.S. embassy. According to Giuliani, the U.S. embassy, which at the time was led by Yovanovitch, directed Ukrainian officials not to pursue an investigation of the misuse.

That State Department did not respond to a request for comment.

“Much of the $5.3B in US Aid Ukraine reported as misused was given to the embassy’s favored NGO’s. At the time Yovanovitch, witness for the Witchunt, was the Amb. That embassy directed the police not to investigate,” Giuliani said.

Giuliani did not offer any evidence for his claim. The day before, he wrote that the misuse was discovered by the “Accounts Chamber” in Ukraine, an apparent reference to Ukraine’s Accounting Chamber. The Accounting Chamber is an audit body for Ukraine’s parliament and acts as a watchdog over the state budget.

Trump removed Yovanovitch from her post in May. She returned to the United States on the day Ukraine inaugurated its newly-elected president, Volodymyr Zelensky. During a July 25 call at the center of the impeachment inquiry, Trump and Zelensky spoke of Yovanovitch in a negative light.

On the call, Trump also asked Zelensky to “look into” the firing of Shokin, who served as the Ukrainian Prosecutor General until March 2016. Shokin was forced to resign weeks after his office seized the assets of Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company that paid Hunter Biden to serve on its board of directors. Joe Biden, Hunter Biden’s father, has bragged about forcing Shokin’s ouster by withholding $1 billion in loan guarantees from Ukraine.

Democrats allege that Trump’s request amounted to soliciting foreign interference in the 2020 presidential election. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Dec. 5 directed the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), to draft the articles of impeachment against Trump.

Pelosi made the announcement shortly after the Democrats from three House committees released a 300-page summary of their investigation. The report alleges that Trump abused “the powers of his office to solicit foreign interference on his behalf in the 2020 election.” The evidence to support the allegation consists entirely of hearsay and presumptions, according to a report prepared by House Republicans.

During the trip, Giuliani filmed several interviews with the former Ukrainian officials for a documentary by the One America News (OAN) network. The channel aired the exclusive interviews on Dec. 7 and 8. OAN claims its program debunks the Democrat narrative at the center of the impeachment proceedings.

A portion of Giuliani’s claim appears to refer to an allegation about Yovanovitch which was first reported by investigative journalist John Solomon. Citing a video interview with Lutsenko, the former Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Solomon reported that Yovanovitch gave Lutsenko a list of people who the Ukrainians should not prosecute. Yovanovitch and the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine denied the claim.

Senior State Department official George Kent, one of the impeachment inquiry witnesses, told lawmakers that the U.S. embassy did push for certain groups and individuals to not be prosecuted. Kent also confirmed that he signed a letter which specifically warns against the prosecution of one of the groups on Yovanovitch’s “do not prosecute” list.

During the impeachment hearings, Democrats claimed that Lutsenko recanted his comments about the “do no prosecute” list. That claim relies on a report by a Ukrainian media outlet. The lawmakers did not mention that in subsequent interviews with Solomon and the New York Times, Lutsenko stood by his allegation that Yovanovitch pushed against the prosecution of certain groups and individuals.

One of the organizations on Yovanovitch list and in Kent’s letter is the Anti-Corruption Action Center, a group jointly funded by U.S. taxpayer dollars and a foundation belonging to billionaire financier George Soros.

In another message on Twitter, Giuliani suggested that a bilateral investigation of the misuse of funds would help bring the United States and Ukraine together.

“In reviewing my notes, it seems to me that a large scale joint investigation into Ukraine and the U.S. would uncover and recover billions stolen by crooks, from both countries, at the highest levels,” Giuliani said. “This would be the most effective way to bring our two countries together.”

The Department of Justice did not respond to a request for comment. Attorney General William Barr earlier this year appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate whether the surveillance of the Trump campaign in 2016 was free of improper motives. As part of that investigation, Durham is looking into Ukraine’s involvement in the events which led to the FBI opening the counterintelligence investigation of the Trump campaign, according to the Justice Department.

December 8, 2019 Afternoon Verse Of The Day

The Return of the Conqueror

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. (19:11–13)

As it did in 4:1, heaven opened before John’s wondering eyes. But unlike 4:1, heaven opens this time not to let John in, but to let Jesus out. The time has come at last for the full, glorious revelation of the sovereign Lord. This is the time to which all of Revelation (as well as all of redemptive history) has been pointing, the time of which Jesus Himself spoke in Matthew 24:27–31:

“For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

“But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.”

As the dramatic scene unfolds, John stands transfixed, his attention riveted on the majestic, regal, mighty Rider. Jesus, the One who ascended to heaven (Acts 1:9–11) where He has been seated at the Father’s right hand (Acts 5:31; 7:55–56; Rom. 8:34; Eph. 1:20; Col. 3:1; Heb. 1:3, 13; 8:1; 10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet. 3:22), is about to receive the kingdom that the Father promised Him. In an earlier vision, John saw Jesus receive the title deed to the earth:

I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a book written inside and on the back, sealed up with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the book and to break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the book or to look into it. Then I began to weep greatly because no one was found worthy to open the book or to look into it; and one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.”

And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. (5:1–7)

The Lamb of that vision has become the conquering King.

No longer is Jesus portrayed as He was in His humiliation, “humble, and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zech. 9:9). Instead, He rides the traditional white horse ridden by victorious Roman generals in their triumphal processions through the streets of Rome. White also symbolizes the spotless, unblemished, absolutely holy character of the Rider. The horse, like the crowns (v. 12), the sharp sword (v. 15), the rod of iron (v. 15), and the wine press (v. 15) is symbolic; Christ’s coming is reality. The symbolic language represents various aspects of that reality—Christ’s victory over His enemies, His sovereign rule, and His judgment of sinners.

Continuing his description of the astonishing scene before him, John notes that He who sat on the white horse is called Faithful and True. There is no more appropriate name for the Lord Jesus Christ, who earlier in Revelation was called “the faithful and true Witness” (3:14). He is faithful to His promises (cf. 2 Cor. 1:20) and what He speaks is always true (John 8:45–46; Titus 1:2). Though some would like to pick and choose which teachings of Jesus they wish to accept, He is just as faithful to His promises of wrath and judgment as He is to His promises of grace and salvation. The description of Jesus as Faithful and True is in marked contrast with the unfaithfulness and lies of Satan (12:9), Antichrist’s evil empire (18:23), and wicked people (2 Tim. 3:13). The very fact that He is coming again as He promised confirms that Jesus is Faithful and True.

Because Jesus is faithful to His word and righteous character, it follows that in righteousness He judges. His holy nature demands a holy, righteous reaction to sin. And because He always does what He says, He must judge the wicked (Matt. 16:27; 25:31–46; John 5:22, 27; cf. Acts 10:42; 17:31; Rom. 2:16; 2 Thess. 1:7–9; 2 Tim. 4:1). Jesus came the first time as Savior; He will return as Judge. When He came the first time, wicked people, including Pilate, Herod, Annas, and Caiaphas judged Him; when He returns, He will judge all wicked people (Acts 17:31). And He will not only be their judge, but also their executioner (vv. 15, 21). Angels may gather the wicked for judgment (Matt. 13:41), but the Lord Jesus will pass sentence on them.

No longer the Suffering Servant of His incarnation, the Lord Jesus Christ is seen in this vision as the warrior King who wages war against His foes. He is the executioner of all ungodly, unbelieving sinners. The only other reference in Scripture to Jesus waging war is in 2:16, when He warned the worldly church at Pergamum, “Repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.” This is not out of keeping with God’s character, however. After their deliverance from the Egyptian forces at the Red Sea, Israel sang, “The Lord is a warrior” (Ex. 15:3; cf. Pss. 24:8; 45:3–5). John Phillips writes:

The Lord is a man of war! It is an amazing title for the Son of God. Says Alexander White, comenting on Bunyan’s Holy War,

Holy Scripture is full of wars and rumours of wars; the wars of the Lord; the wars of Joshua and the Judges; the wars of David, with his and many other magnificient battle-songs; till the best known name of the God of Israel in the Old Testament is the Lord of Hosts; and then in the New Testament we have Jesus Christ described as the Captain of our salvation.… And then the whole Bible is crowned with a book all sounding with battle-cries.… till it ends with that city of peace where they hang the trumpet in the hall and study war no more.

The Lord is a man of war! In righteousness He judges and makes war. The judging has been going on throughout the breaking of the seals, the blowing of the trumpets, and the pouring out of the bowls. Now He makes war. He, who for long centuries has endured patiently the scoffings, the insults, the bad manners of men; who for ages has contemplated Calvary and all that it displayed of human hatred and contempt; and who, through the millennia has made peace through the blood of that cross, now makes war over that blood. (Exploring Revelation, rev. ed. [Chicago: Moody, 1987; reprint, Neptune, N.J.: Loizeaux, 1991], 232)

Jesus’ adversaries this time will be the hardened sinners who have defied His judgments and scorned the gospel message during the Tribulation. Despite all the devastating judgments they will have experienced, and the powerful gospel preaching they will have heard, they will stubbornly refuse to repent (9:20–21; 16:9, 11). Since neither judgment nor preaching moves them to repent, Jesus will return to destroy them and send them to hell.

Unlike other conquerors the world has seen, covetousness, ambition, pride, or power will not motivate this Conqueror. He will come in utter righteousness, in perfect holiness, and in strict accord with every holy interest. Heaven cannot be at peace with sin, for God’s “eyes are too pure to approve evil, and [He] can not look on wickedness with favor” (Hab. 1:13). There is a limit to God’s patience. Justice cannot always tolerate injustice; truth cannot forever tolerate lies; rebellion cannot be permitted to go on forever. Incorrigible, incurable, hardened sinners will face destruction; mercy abused and grace rejected will ultimately bring judgment.

Describing the personal appearance of the majestic, awe-inspiring Rider, John writes that His eyes are a flame of fire (see the discussion of 1:14 in Revelation 1–11, The MacArthur New Testament Commentary [Chicago: Moody, 1999], 46). Nothing escapes the notice of His penetrating, piercing vision. He can see into the deepest recesses of the human heart, because “all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do” (Heb. 4:13). Those eyes had reflected tenderness and joy as He gathered little children to Himself. They had reflected compassion when He observed distressed and dispirited people, wandering aimlessly through life like sheep without a shepherd. And they had reflected forgiveness when He restored Peter, who had been crushed by guilt over his shocking denial of his Master. The eyes that wept over the fate of unrepentant Jerusalem and over the sorrow, suffering, and death in this sin-cursed world, John sees flashing with the fire of judgment.

On His head John noted that Christ wore many diadems, a transliteration of the Greek word diadēma, which refers to a ruler’s crown (cf. 12:3; 13:1). In this case, they are worn by Jesus to signify His royal rank and regal authority. Many indicates His collecting of all the rulers’ crowns, signifying that He alone is the sovereign ruler of the earth. Collecting the crown of a vanquished king was customary in the ancient world. After defeating the Ammonites, David “took the crown of their king from his head … and it was placed on David’s head” (2 Sam. 12:30). Christ alone will be sovereign, since He alone is “King of kings, and Lord of lords” (v. 16), and “the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever” (11:15). The many crowns Christ will wear are indeed a fair exchange for a crown of thorns (cf. Phil. 2:8–11).

Further, John notes that Jesus had a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. All speculation as to the meaning of that name is obviously pointless, since the text plainly states that no one knows it except Jesus Himself. Even the inspired apostle John could not comprehend it. Maybe it will be made known after His return.

Describing the final element of Christ’s appearance, John writes that He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood. The blood is not representative of that which He shed on the cross; this is a picture of judgment, not redemption. The blood is the blood of His slaughtered enemies. The imagery of this passage is similar to that of Isaiah 63:1–6:

Who is this who comes from Edom,

With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah,

This One who is majestic in His apparel,

Marching in the greatness of His strength?

“It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

Why is Your apparel red,

And Your garments like the one who treads in the wine press?

“I have trodden the wine trough alone,

And from the peoples there was no man with Me.

I also trod them in My anger

And trampled them in My wrath;

And their lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,

And I stained all My raiment.

For the day of vengeance was in My heart,

And My year of redemption has come.

I looked, and there was no one to help,

And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold;

So My own arm brought salvation to Me,

And My wrath upheld Me.

I trod down the peoples in My anger

And made them drunk in My wrath,

And I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

The question arises as to why His garments are blood spattered before the battle has begun. But this is not His first battle; it is His last battle. He has fought for His people throughout redemptive history, and His war clothes bear the stains of many previous slaughters. At that day, they will be stained as never before when He “treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty” (v. 15).

That the Rider’s name is called The Word of God identifies Him unmistakably as the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1, 14; 1 John 1:1). The second Person of the Trinity, the incarnate Son of God is called The Word of God because He is the revelation of God. He is the full expression of the mind, will, and purpose of God, “the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature” (Heb. 1:3).[1]

12 The reference to the blazing eyes definitely connects this vision with that of ch. 1 (cf. 1:14; 2:18). On his head are not just seven crowns (12:3), or ten (13:1), but many crowns of royalty (diadēmata, GK 1343). Perhaps they signify that the royal power to rule the world has now passed to Christ by virtue of the victory of his followers (11:15). All the diadems of their newly won empire meet on his brow (cf. Caird).

So great is Christ’s power that his name is known only by himself. Knowledge of the name is in antiquity associated with the power of the god. When a name becomes known, then the power is shared with those to whom the disclosure is made (cf. comments at 2:17). But since two names of Christ are revealed in this vision—“the Word of God” (v. 13) and “king of kings and lord of lords” (v. 16)—we may conclude that the exclusive power of Christ over all creation is now to be shared with his faithful followers (3:21; 5:10; 22:5). On the other hand, the secret name may be one that will not be revealed till Christ’s return.[2]

12 The first thing that John records about the Rider of the white horse is that his eyes are a flame of fire. Nothing can be hidden from the penetrating gaze of the Messiah. Upon his head are many crowns. Here is an obvious contrast to the seven crowns of the dragon (12:3) and the ten crowns of the beast out of the sea (13:1). Many crowns indicate unlimited sovereignty. Since he is King of kings, all authority is his. The entire description is obviously symbolic and should not be visualized in any concrete way. The Rider also bears a name that only he knows. Some find here a reference to the sacred tetragrammaton, YHWH, a name too holy to pronounce so that the vowels of another name for God (Adonai) are read with the consonants of the holy name, with the resulting combination usually represented (in English) as Yahweh. Others hold the name to be “the name that is above every name” (“the Lord,” Phil 2:9–11) given to Christ in fulfillment of his messianic ministry. One writer suggests that it may be the name inscribed upon the Rider’s thigh in v. 16, which was not legible at first because of the radiance of the vision. The most common interpretation is that it is a secret name whose meaning is veiled from all created beings. It expresses the mystery of his person. There will always remain a mystery about Christ that finite minds will never fully grasp. There exists an ancient idea that to know the name of a god or demon is to possess certain powers over him. This could account for the refusal of the divine visitors in Gen 32:29 and Judg 13:18 to identify themselves (cf. 1 Enoch 69:14; Asc. Isa. 9:5). It is highly questionable, however, that the returning Messiah would share such a reluctance.[3]

THE UNKNOWABLE NAME

Revelation 19:12

His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many royal crowns, and he has a name written which no one knows except himself.

We begin the description of the conquering Christ.

His eyes are a flame of fire. We have already met this description in 1:14 and 2:18. It stands for the consuming power of the victorious Christ. On his head, he has many crowns. The word used here for crown is diadēma, which is the royal crown, as opposed to stephanos, which is the crown of victory. To be crowned with more than one crown may seem strange, but in the time of John it was quite natural. It was not uncommon for a monarch to wear more than one crown in order to show that he was the king of more than one country. For instance, when Ptolemy entered Antioch, he wore two crowns or diadems—one to show that he was lord of Asia and one to show that he was lord of Egypt (1 Maccabees 11:13). On the head of the victor Christ, there are many crowns to show that he is lord of all the kingdoms of the earth.

He has a name known to no one but himself. This is a passage whose meaning is obscure. What is this name? Many suggestions have been made.

(1) It has been suggested that the name is kurios, Lord. In Philippians 2:9–11, we read of the name above every name which God has given to Jesus Christ because of his complete obedience; and there the name is almost certainly Lord.

(2) It is suggested that the name is IHWH. That was the Jewish name for God. In Hebrew writing, there were no vowels; the I was a Y rather than an I in pronunciation; the vowels had to be supplied by the reader. No one really knows what the vowels in IHWH were. The name was in fact so holy that it was never pronounced. In the past, it was pronounced JEHOVAH; but the vowels in Jehovah are really those of the Hebrew word Adonai, which means Lord, the name by which the Jews called God in order to avoid pronouncing the sacred name. Scholars now think that the name should be IAHWEH. The letters IHWH are called the sacred tetragrammaton, the sacred four letters. It may be that the secret name is the real name of God, which no one knows.

(3) It may be that the name is one which can be revealed only at the final union of Christ and the Church. In the Ascension of Isaiah (9:5), there is a saying: ‘You cannot bear his name until you shall have ascended out of the body.’ There was a Jewish belief that no one could know the name of God before entering into the life of heaven.

(4) It may be that there is here a lingering relic of the old idea that to know the name of a divine being was to have a certain power over that being. In two Old Testament stories, the wrestling of Jacob at Peniel (Genesis 32:29) and the appearance of the angelic messenger to Gideon (Judges 13:18), the divine visitor refuses to tell his name.

(5) It may be that we shall never know the symbolism of the unknown name; but H. B. Swete has the very fine idea that in the essence of the being of Christ there must always remain something beyond human understanding. ‘Notwithstanding the dogmatic helps which the Church offers, the mind fails to grasp the inmost significance of the Person of Christ, which eludes all efforts to bring it within the terms of human knowledge. Only the Son of God can understand the mystery of his own being.’[4]

12. And his eyes are as a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written that no one knows except he himself.

This verse describes three aspects of Christ: his eyes, his head, and his name. The first two are visible and known, but the third, although written, only he himself knows. The description of Jesus’ eyes as flames of fire resembles a clause in Daniel 10:6, “his eyes like flaming torches.” And John’s portrayal of Jesus on Patmos has similar wording, “His eyes were like a flame of fire” (1:14; 2:18). These flames of fire convey Christ’s holy anger toward his enemies and his wrath against sin that is piled up to heaven (18:5).

The second aspect is that Christ wears many crowns, which the Greek text conveys as diadems (see 12:3; 13:1, where this word is applied to Satan and the beast as they imitate Christ). Diadems in John’s day were individual ribbons tied around someone’s head. Here the many diadems represent Christ’s supremacy in countless areas. The picture is purely symbolic of his complete sovereignty in the universe and does not lend itself to literalism. We assume that these diadems on Christ’s head displayed names to indicate the areas of his sovereignty (compare Isa. 62:2–3).

The third aspect is the name that no one knows except Christ. This sentence has caused at least one commentator who examined the parallel lines in verses 12 and 13 to assert that the sentence. “He has a name written that no one knows except he himself” is a gloss. By deleting this line, he says that the parallelism of verses 12 and 13 is restored. But is there really a contradiction in these two verses, where verse 12c states an inability to know the name of Christ and verse 13b divulges this name as “the Word of God”? To be sure, the names for Christ are numerous in the New Testament; the Apocalypse calls him the Lamb. Faithful and True, Lord of lords and King of kings, Root, offspring of David, Morning Star, and others. In verse 13 the written name of the rider on the white horse is “the Word of God.” A name refers to the very being of a person; for instance, an overcomer is given a white stone on which “is written a new name which no one knows except the one who receives it” (2:17). When on the island of Patmos John hears a divine voice and describes the speaker as “a son of man” (1:13), he declines to identify Jesus by name. In fact, he is unable to utter the name of this divine person. This corresponds with the mysterious wording in an early Christian hymn, “God … gave him the name that is above every name” (Phil. 2:9). We know that the appellation Jesus is his earthly name and Christ his official designation, but he still has another name that remains hidden from us. This mysterious name will be revealed to his people when his redemptive work has been brought to completion. Certainly at the wedding banquet of the Lamb (v. 9) when his bride enjoys perfect blessedness, the Lord will reveal the mystery of his name.

There is still another explanation, namely, that God shares his name with Christ, whereby the divinity of Christ is expressed. At three other places in the Apocalypse, John identifies Christ with God by ascribing divinity to Jesus when he mentions him together with God with reference to God’s kingdom and throne. There is one kingdom, not two; and one throne, not two (11:15; 20:6; 22:3).[5]

A $20 Trillion Problem: More Than Half Of China’s Banks Fail Central Bank Stress Test

• arclein

As we further explained, the reason why so many (for now) smaller Chinese banks have found themselves either getting bailed out or hit by bank runs, is that in a time when China’s interbank/repo rates have surged amid growing counterparty concerns, increasingly more banks have been forced to rely almost entirely on deposits to fund themselves, forcing them to hike their deposit rates to keep their funding levels stable.

Democrats’ Impeachment Position: Although President Trump Didn’t Break the Law, He Surely Intended to and Therefore He’s Guilty — The Gateway Pundit

The Democrat position in their impeachment of President Trump is that although the President did nothing wrong, he meant to, and therefore they must impeach!

Breitbart reported that the Democrat position on impeachment is absurd and have become the Salem Witch Trials.  The House Judiciary Report is stating that the President can be impeached for motives without breaking the law –

The Conservative Tree House also reported on this use of the word intent that the Obama Administration added to the legal system –

Defining statutory violations by the intent of the violator is specifically attributable to how President Obama, AG Eric Holder and AG Loretta Lynch changed the entire enterprise of lawful application to make outcomes arbitrary, variable, changeable to the situation.

The IRS targeting wasn’t unlawful because it wasn’t intentional.  The death of four Americans due to sketchy CIA and State Dept. operations in Benghazi was not unlawful because the risky situation wasn’t created intentionally.  Hillary Clinton’s private email server with classified information wasn’t “intentional”, etcetera – etcetera, the list is long.

The nice thing about switching to definitions of lawbreaking by “intent” is the ease in arbitrary application.  Republican targets ‘intended’ to violate laws… Democrat targets, well, not-so-much.  Fluidity is a necessary oil amid a two-tiered administrative state.

So now that they have nothing on President Trump, the Democrats say that the President intended to commit crimes and therefore he must be impeached.   What insanity – they have nothing!

Justice Department IG Horowitz has 104 “criminal or administrative” probes currently open on FBI employees, as a testament to Obama’s abject corruption

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are fond of telling friendly media — that is, the Democrat-aligned “mainstream media” — what a wonderful, scandal-free administration they had.

(Natural News) President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are fond of telling friendly media — that is, the Democrat-aligned “mainstream media” — what a wonderful, scandal-free administration they had.

In truth, the two of them oversaw several scandals beginning with the “Fast and Furious” gun-running operation into Mexico that led to the death of at least one federal Border Patrol agent and ending with Spygate.

In fact, to the latter, the Justice Department and the FBI were so corrupted under the previous administration that the DoJ’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, now has at least 104 open criminal and administrative investigations into FBI employees, according to ace investigative reporter Paul Sperry.

“BREAKING: Justice IG Horowitz has 104 criminal or administrative investigations of alleged misconduct related to FBI employees open as of Sept. 30, according to new OIG report. The criminal investigations involve ‘serious allegations of official misconduct,’” Sperry reported via Twitter Thursday.

— Paul Sperry (@paulsperry_) December 5, 2019

This information, if accurate — and Sperry usually is — runs counter to the narrative deep state operatives were putting out late last month.

The National Sentinel reported November 23:

Late Friday, The New York Times and The Washington Post dutifully published leaked information claiming that Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report, due out Dec. 9, will contain few “bombshells.”

What’s more, these not-so-trustworthy news sources report, the top dogs in the FBI and DoJ who were involved in launching the Spygate scandal to depose President Donald Trump — James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, et al — are going to escape unscathed.

If we’re to believe these two paragons of truth and unbiased reporting (insert sarcasm here), then Horowitz hasn’t found anything much as it relates to the Obama-led and approved attempt to depose President Donald Trump as though we live in a banana republic. (Related: Why are all of Trump’s people FORCED to testify, while all the corrupt Democrats like Schiff, Comey, Clinton and Obama are NEVER required to answer questions?)

‘Trail of lies, leaks, lapses’

But Sperry’s report rings true, especially when we contrast it with evidence of FBI corruption we already know to be true.

The Washington Times reported Thursday that “dirty cops” — Rep. Devin Nunes’ (R-Calif.) description of them — within the FBI have left a “trail of lies, leaks, and lapses” in the era of President Trump:

The FBI already has amassed a record of misconduct by top officials leading up to Monday, when the Justice Department inspector general is scheduled to release conclusions on whether agents also abused the bureau’s intrusive wiretapping powers.

To date, four inspector general reports and internal Justice Department documents have found senior FBI officials guilty of lying, insubordination, security violations, mishandling confidential material and personal biases against President Trump.

In particular:

— Former FBI Director James Comey was cited by former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as crossing “a bright line” when he held a July 2016 press conference exonerating then-2016 presidential contender Hillary Clinton of wrongdoing in her criminal mishandling of classified emails. Horowitz, in an August report, also noted that Comey broke FBI protocol by retaining personal memos of meetings with President Trump and then leaking the contents of one memo to The New York Times via a friend of his.

— Fired FBI counterintelligence official Peter Strzok was fired for scores of texts shared with his lover, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, showing a distinct bias against President Trump and also, many believe, spelling out details of the coup attempt.

— Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was fired for lying to investigators about his involvement in leaking a story about himself to The Wall Street Journal.

Several other ranking FBI and Justice Department officials, according to two years’ worth of reporting by various independent media, are also dirty. So it appears as though Sperry’s tweet about the extent of Horowitz’s probes into FBI/DoJ corruption is spot-on.

UPDATE: Bill Barr Indicts 8 Including Mueller Top Witness for Funneling Millions in Foreign Donations to Adam Schiff, Hillary Clinton and Top Senate Democrats — The Gateway Pundit

Ahmad “Andy” Khawaja and Hillary Clinton (Allied Wallet)

The Liberal Media Is Covering This Up!…
HUGE DEMOCRAT MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR CAMPAIGN DONATIONS SCANDAL BROKEN UP!

On Friday The Gateway Pundit reported on the news that Democrat operative and Robert Mueller chief witness George Nader was indicted for his involvement in illegal campaign contributions from foreign entities to the Hillary campaign in 2016

Nader was one of Mueller’s top witnesses and he is a top Democrat donor and convicted child molester.

But there is more to the story.

Bill Barr on Friday indicted eight individuals for illegally funneling foreign money to Adam Schiff, Hillary Clinton and several Democratic senators.

According to News Thud:

The list of the Dem organizations taking this illegal money is astounding – almost every Dem state organization and many super PAC’s including the big one Priorities USA.

All of the leading names in the Democratic party took in this money including Adam Schiff and Ted Lieu, Jon Tester, Cory Booker, Hillary Clinton, etc.

The DOJ reported:

Earlier today, an indictment was unsealed against the CEO of an online payment processing company, and seven others, charging them with conspiring to make and conceal conduit and excessive campaign contributions, and related offenses, during the U.S. presidential election in 2016 and thereafter.

Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and Assistant Director in Charge Timothy R. Slater of the FBI’s Washington Field Office made the announcement.

A federal grand jury in the District of Columbia indicted Ahmad “Andy” Khawaja, 48, of Los Angeles, California, on Nov. 7, 2019, along with George Nader, Roy Boulos, Rudy Dekermenjian, Mohammad “Moe” Diab, Rani El-Saadi, Stevan Hill and Thayne Whipple. The 53 count indictment charges Khawaja with two counts of conspiracy, three counts of making conduit contributions, three counts of causing excessive contributions, 13 counts of making false statements, 13 counts of causing false records to be filed, and one count of obstruction of a federal grand jury investigation. Nader is charged with conspiring with Khawaja to make conduit campaign contributions, and related offenses. Boulos, Dekermenjian, Diab, El-Saadi, Hill, and Whipple are charged with conspiring with Khawaja and each other to make conduit campaign contributions and conceal excessive contributions, and related offenses.

According to the indictment, from March 2016 through January 2017, Khawaja conspired with Nader to conceal the source of more than $3.5 million in campaign contributions, directed to political committees associated with a candidate for President of the United States in the 2016 election. By design, these contributions appeared to be in the names of Khawaja, his wife, and his company. In reality, they allegedly were funded by Nader. Khawaja and Nader allegedly made these contributions in an effort to gain influence with high-level political figures, including the candidate. As Khawaja and Nader arranged these payments, Nader allegedly reported to an official from a foreign government about his efforts to gain influence.

The indictment also alleges that, from March 2016 through 2018, Khawaja conspired with Boulos, Dekermenjian, Diab, El-Saadi, Hill, and Whipple to conceal Khawaja’s excessive contributions, which totaled more than $1.8 million, to various political committees. Among other things, these contributions allegedly allowed Khawaja to host a private fundraiser for a presidential candidate in 2016 and a private fundraising dinner for an elected official in 2018.

The indictment further alleges that, from June 2019 through July 2019, Khawaja obstructed a grand jury investigation of this matter in the District of Columbia. Knowing that a witness had been called to testify before the grand jury, Khawaja allegedly provided that witness with false information about Nader and his connection to Khawaja’s company. Boulos, Diab, Hill, and Whipple also are charged with obstructing the grand jury’s investigation by lying to the FBI.

Currently, Nader is in federal custody on other charges.

You can see all of Ahmad Khawaja’s donations here.

Khawaja donated OVER ONE MILLION DOLLARS to Democrat PAC Priorities USA!

The list is endless.

This is being covered up by the liberal mainstream media!

As we reported previously– George Nader, a Lebanese-American businessman and one of Mueller’s ‘star witnesses’ was charged in a Virginia federal court in July with additional child sex crimes.

Recall, Nader was previously indicted on June 3rd 2019 on child pornography charges.

According to a 3-count indictment unsealed Friday, Nader was charged earlier in July for possessing child pornography and for traveling with a minor to engage in illegal sexual acts.

Nader is accused of transporting a 14-year-old European boy to the United States for sex in the year 2000.

Democrats Panic as Rudy Giuliani Previews His “Doomsday” Files: $5.3 Billion in US Aid During Obama Crime Spree | DC Dirty Laundry

From what Rudy has revealed, it seems that he struck gold and has the preverbial ‘nuts’ on the DS and their agents in the Democratic Party.

OPINION| Mark Sidney| Rudy Giuliani seems to be the man that the DS has identified as the biggest threat to their survival at the moment.

Why do I say this? Because the DS is doing EVERYTHING they can do bring Rudy down.

‘America’s Mayor’ has been Trump’s consigliere for some time now. Giuliani has apparently been digging in Ukraine ever since the Mueller days. It seems that Rudy was using the Russian collision hoax, and its subsequent coup attempt via the Mueller investigation to get the goods on just how dirty and corrupt the previous administration was.

From what Rudy has revealed, it seems that he struck gold and has the preverbial ‘nuts’ on the DS and their agents in the Democratic Party.

Why else would Schiff, allegedly, being going too far out of his way to break the law (allegedly) to get information on who Rudy and John Solomon have been talking to and when?

Adam Schiff arbitrarily releases my phone records as a 1st Amendment protected reporter. State Department bureaucrats reportedly monitored my social media. A witness gratuitously drags a 13-year-old boy into impeachment. Whatever happened to civil liberties, privacy and decency?

— John Solomon (@jsolomonReports) December 4, 2019

Now, keep in mind, this is just what has been regurgitated by ‘sources’ close to Mrs. Ingraham, Mr Solomon and others. One thing to remember is that the allegations are not confirmed, but also that things could be much, much more sinister than the small bits and pieces that have leaked as well.

While we do not know for sure what Schiff and his brethren in the US SS (United States Surveillance State) have been doing, what God given rights they may or may not have been violating, we do know that this pattern of behavior would not be new for desperate Dems.

In 3 days, when IG Horowitz releases his report on FISA abuse, hopefully we will learn a lot more about just how much the previous crime spree … err, administration valued citizens, and their political enemies’ God given rights to be ‘secure in their person, papers and effects.’

As usual, Jim Hoft’s, The Gateway Pundit, is all over the story, reporting that:

‘Earlier this week Rudy Giuliani met with Ukrainian officials to discuss the misuse of US funds in Ukraine and the creation of a group to fight corruption in the country.

Rudy Giuliani and Andrey Derkach via Facebook

According to a Facebook post by Ukrainian independent lawmaker Andrey Derkach Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani recently flew to Kiev to discuss the creation of a group to fight corruption.

In October Ukrainian Parliamentarian Andrey (Andriy) Derkach revealed in a press conference that Joe Biden was paid $900,000 for lobbying efforts from Burisma Holdings in Ukraine.

And now this…

On Friday Rudy Giuliani tweeted out a “Shocking Disclosure!”

Are you starting to see why Biden gets to aggressive when anyone mentions ‘Ukraine’ within his earshot?

WATCH: A tense exchange with a voter at ⁦@JoeBiden⁩’s event in New Hampton, IA this morning, where a voter started out by telling Biden he had two problems with him: he was too old, and his son’s work in Ukraine pic.twitter.com/ok7m0ShFPd

— Molly Nagle (@MollyNagle3) December 5, 2019

Rudy claims that his sources are telling him that a large portion of the $5,300,000.000 ($5.3 BILLION) in US Taxpayer funded Aid to the Ukraine was abused, misused and funneled to the embassy’s favored NGO’s. I wonder how Soros figures into this one? I have a feeling that is where this rabbit hole will end up leading soon.

Marie Yovanovitch, who is one of the key players/witnesses in the current iteration of the coup against our Republic, had been the Ambassador to Ukraine at the time. Allegedly, her embassy directed the police not to investigate the allegations.

Shocking disclosure:

Much of the $5.3B in US Aid Ukraine reported as misused was given to the embassy’s favored NGO’s.

At the time Yovanovitch, witness for the Witchunt, was the Amb. That embassy directed the police not to investigate.

Wonder why Obama forgot Art. 2, Sec. 3.

— Rudy Giuliani (@RudyGiuliani) December 6, 2019

Presidential Legal Obligations 101:

Art 2, Sec. 3 of the US Constitution obligates the President to investigate and ask for investigations of corruption in countries we provide funds to.

Who ever heard of a president being impeached for carrying out his constitutional mandate?

— Rudy Giuliani (@RudyGiuliani) December 6, 2019

It comes as a huge shock to Democrats that @realDonaldTrump will ask for investigations concerning violations of US laws & misused hard-earned tax payer dollars.

It’s called his legal obligation under Article 2, Sec. 3 of the US Constitution. Ignored by Obama.

— Rudy Giuliani (@RudyGiuliani) December 6, 2019

Looks like Rudy has his preverbial rifle locked, loaded, bayonet affixed and his finger on the trigger.

It is unclear how this will all shake out as of yet, but I have a feeling this up coming 2020 is going to be pivotal in American history. Either the DS will be exposed and on the run, or the left will seize power, and we will likely never get it back.

I implore everyone to do their part in gettin the truth out there, for I fear if the Dems obtain control, the internet will be locked down and the social media censorship we have seen thus far will look like a walk in the park … As Ron Paul said is in famous speech, ‘Let it not be said that we did nothing ….’

You foolish evangelicals, Trump has bewitched you – The Christian Post

I believe evangelicals who support Donald Trump are being both blind and foolish to do so and that labeling them as such is not sinful but appropriate and necessary.

Several faith leaders lay hands on President Donald Trump at an informal meeting held at the Roosevelt Room in the White House in Washington, D.C., Oct. 29, 2019. | White House/Joyce Boghosian

Fool.

It’s not a word to throw around carelessly. Some Christians erroneously believe the Bible forbids the use of this word toward others and that we risk eternal damnation for addressing people this way. What the Bible actually teaches is to never call someone “racca,” which means “empty one” or “worthless.” The Bible also teaches that it is always wrong to call someone a fool if you are doing it out of sinful, unrighteous anger.

Jesus Christ used the words “blind fools” to refer to the Pharisees regarding how they were grossly misguiding the Jews about how to have an intimate relationship with God (Matthew 23:17).

The Apostle Paul reprimanded Christians in the province of Galatia, saying “You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?” (Galatians 3:1) because they had fallen back into trying to be justified by works rather than faith in Jesus Christ.

When either Jesus Christ or Paul used these words, it was a stinging rebuke of a group of people for not looking spiritually or morally at reality the way God looks at it.

I believe evangelicals who support Donald Trump are being both blind and foolish to do so and that labeling them as such is not sinful but appropriate and necessary. By support, I’m not referring to evangelicals who voted for Trump in 2016. I’m referring to those evangelicals who continue to hold Trump up as a great leader, say he is God’s chosen one for the presidency, applaud his appalling words and actions, ignore his glaring moral defects, and enable his dangerous presidency to continue by giving him their time, talents, and treasures.

As a Christian, I don’t have much hope that evangelicals who enthusiastically support Trump will have ears to hear what I say in this piece. My personal interactions with enthusiastic Trump-supporting evangelicals have, in general, been unpleasant and involved very little willingness to “Come now, let us reason together” (Isaiah 1:18). Nevertheless, I feel prompted to comply with two verses in Scripture, “speaking the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15) and “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault” (Matthew 18:15) when it comes to this matter. This article, however imperfectly written, is my best effort to speak the truth in love to my brothers and sisters in Christ who support Trump and point out why I believe the Bible says they are wrong to do so.

First, I am going to mention some of the leading evangelicals who have zealously supported Trump. Second, I’m going to discuss the key biblical passage that describes someone like Trump, a passage that many evangelicals seem to completely ignore. Third, I’m going to examine why so many evangelicals support Trump. Finally, I will conclude by challenging those evangelicals who support Trump to humble themselves, admit they made a grave mistake by backing a man so clearly psychologically and morally unfit to be president, and repent of their misjudgment of this man by vigorously opposing his re-election.

The Four Evangelical Enablers of the Trumpocalypse

Four evangelicals have been especially vocal in their support of Trump. I mention them by name not to demean these individuals but because I believe each one of them need to be held accountable for avidly supporting the president and acting like evangelicals who don’t do the same are unchristian and immoral.

Ralph Reed, former head of the Christian Coalition and founder and chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, recently said that evangelicals “have a moral obligation to enthusiastically back” President Trump in the upcoming election.1 In my field of counseling, what Reed said is considered “gaslighting,” an effort to make someone think they are crazy or in the wrong if they don’t look at things the way you do. I believe the Bible teaches that we have a moral obligation to vigorously oppose someone like Trump and remove him from office as soon as possible before he does any more damage to our democracy.

Jerry Falwell Jr., president of Liberty University, said in an interview that Trump earned his support because of his abilities as a businessman, that there was nothing Trump could do to endanger his support or the support of other evangelical leaders, and that he “can’t imagine him doing anything that’s not good for the country.”2 Trump is a demonstrably immoral and incompetent businessman, most of what he does as president is impulsively thought out and acted on, and one has to wonder just how bad he would have to act before evangelicals like Falwell would see him as a real and present danger not only to our country but to the world at large. Could Trump literally, as he has boasted,3 walk to the center of 5th Avenue in New York City and shoot someone before evangelicals would finally sour on him?

Franklin Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, when asked about Trump’s lying, refused to acknowledge that he lies, saying that Trump sometimes misspeaks “like all of us do.”4 Trump recently cracked the 13,000 false or misleading statements barrier.5 Doesn’t that fact alone suggest he is a pathological liar rather than a pathological mis-speaker? And, given that “The Lord detests lying lips” (Proverbs 12:22), shouldn’t evangelicals like Graham realize that God has a serious problem with a pathological liar leading our country?

Mike Pence, vice president of the United States, has been unfaltering in his support of Trump even though he has suffered one indignity after another at Trump’s hand since assuming office. In a cabinet meeting in 2017, Pence led everyone in offering effusive praise to Trump when he said, “You have restored American credibility on the world stage” when Trump has actually done the opposite.6 At Trump’s 2020 campaign kickoff in Florida, Pence introduced Trump by saying, “President Donald Trump is the real deal” when he is actually a disingenuous fake. Pence also said Trump is “a man who says what he means, and means what he says” when Trump rarely says what he really means because even he knows he would catch nine kinds of heck if he ever was foolish enough to do so.7

Ralph, Jerry, Franklin, and Mike, my brothers in Christ, I believe you are being blind and foolish to support Trump. From my perspective, you are significantly misaligned with what Scripture says about how we as Christians are supposed to deal with someone like our current president. You got “bewitched” by an exploitative, pathologically lying snake oil salesman, and your unrestrained support of Trump has not only turned off untold numbers of non-believers to the cause of Christ but brought great dishonor on Christianity.

Is Trump Morally Ill Beyond Normal Standards of Human Decency?

The simple answer is yes. Given how narcissistic and sociopathic Trump is, he fundamentally doesn’t believe that the rules of moral behavior or social norms apply to him. That is the primary reason he has spent his adult life breaking one biblical commandment, federal law, and social norm after another. As much as people hoped Trump would take a turn for the better after becoming president, he has only grown more mentally and morally disturbed and defiant since assuming the powers of the presidency.8

Allow me to lay out a biblical case that Trump is a deeply morally ill person by going into the core values of Christianity. The list of Christian values is long, but the core values we have as followers of Christ would certainly include humility, compassion, truthfulness, acting justly, behaving morally, and loving mercy. Trump doesn’t share any of these values with Christians in how he lives his life, frequently acting in the opposite direction.

Humility. Trump is an incredibly arrogant person. Perhaps the most arrogant statement he ever uttered during his run for office was “I alone can fix it” when referring to our country’s many problems.9 Trump has said he is “the chosen one,”10 done more in a shorter period of time than any other president,11 “so great looking and smart, a true Stable Genius,”12 and someone who knows more than anyone else about technology, money, taxes, ISIS, campaign finance, renewables, courts, steelworkers, real estate, construction, banks, trade, nuclear weapons, lawsuits and a myriad of other topics than those who are experts in these areas.13

There is very little, if anything, that is humble about Trump. When questioned about whether or not he had ever asked God for forgiveness, Trump said he didn’t think he had because he hadn’t done anything bad enough to warrant God’s forgiveness.14 Admitting your sinfulness and asking for forgiveness is at the very heart of Christianity. Trump has never seen a need to ask God to forgive him for a life that has been chronically marred by immorality, and, yet, evangelicals continue to believe he is a Christian who holds to Christian values in how he lives his life? I simply cannot wrap my mind around that.

Compassion. Another core aspect of Trump’s moral pathology is his lack of compassion and empathy for other people’s emotional pain and suffering. Examples of his lack of empathy for the feelings of others are too numerous to go into here but certainly include his abusive verbal attacks on people who disagree with him, his cold-heartedness about ripping children out their parent’s arms at our southern border, and telling the wife of a soldier who was killed in battle that her husband knew what he had signed up for in becoming a soldier.15,16

Truthfulness. As I mentioned earlier, Trump has made over 13,000 false or misleading statements since assuming the presidency. Most presidents would be hung in effigy if they lied just a few times in office, much less thousands of time. In referring to Satan, the Bible says that he is the father or lies and that there is no truth in him (John 8:44). Among human beings, that could be said about Trump — he rarely tells the truth, and, when he does, it is usually to serve his ego and justify his actions.

Acting Justly. Micah 6:8 says, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” To act justly is to be impartial, behave lawfully, and submit to authority. Trump does none of these. He is clearly partial toward certain people (rich white men to be specific), spent his life violating the law and social norms, and rarely submits to any authority other than himself for how to act. Trump has proudly proclaimed that he is his own advisor on various issues, that he has great instincts, and that his decisions are always perfect when there are dozens and dozens of examples of that being false.17

Behaving Morally. Trump is perhaps the most immoral president we have ever had. He is a serial adulterer and sexual predator, often doesn’t pay his debts, cheats on his taxes, pathologically lies, exploits people for his own ends, and lives his life as if God’s moral commands apply to everyone else but him.18,19 Rarely, if ever, does he practice what he preaches, something that incensed Christ about the Pharisees when He rebuked them for their blatant hypocrisy in how they lived their lives.20,21

Loving Mercy. Mercy means having grace and kindness toward others and forgiving the people who have hurt you. It means not returning harsh criticism from others with abusive insults. It means graciously bearing the negative effects of someone else’s sin against you. It means reaching out to the poor and neglected. It means, at times, not making someone pay the consequences of their wrongdoing. Trump is none of these things. He has little compassion for the pain and suffering others go through, hurls one abusive insult after another at people who dare to criticize him, is frequently aggressive and hostile toward his perceived enemies, and feels bitter and resentful toward those who sin against him.22

If actions speak louder than words, can any evangelical honestly say Trump truly shares our core values as followers of Christ? Sooner or later, evangelicals who support Trump are going to have to ask themselves why they so fervently believe Trump is a born again Christian and shares our core values when there is indisputable evidence to the contrary.

Does the Bible Have Anything to Say About Someone Like Trump?

Yes, the Bible has a lot to say about someone like Trump, and none of it is good. The passages in the Bible about a person like the president are too numerous to mention. Let me suggest that the key passage is 2 Timothy 3:1-5:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

I believe this passage is almost a word-for-word description of our current president and that it’s not in the Bible by accident. I believe this particular passage was written for the very times we live in. God, being all-knowing, knew ahead of time this godless individual would ascend to the presidency of our country. In light of what the passage says, could God be any clearer about who He doesn’t want Christians to support when it comes to choosing a leader?

I also believe Trump is so malignantly narcissistic that he claimed to be a Christian simply to get evangelicals to vote for him in 2016. Evangelicals foolishly drank the Trump Kool-Aid and got conned into voting for him. Trump was cunning and conniving enough to know that without evangelical support he wouldn’t win the 2016 election, and he was more than willing to misrepresent himself as a follower of Christ in order to gain the presidency for his own personal glory and enrichment.

While only God knows who His “sheep” are, I believe Trump is no more Christian in how he lives his life than I’m a Nobel Prize winning physicist. God expressly commands His followers to have nothing to do with someone like Trump, and yet, millions of evangelicals continue to enthusiastically support him.

Tragically, with the 2020 election a year away, evangelical support for Trump appears to be as strong as ever, and evangelicals seemed posed to make the same horrible mistake they made in 2016 by re-electing him to the highest office in the land, a position for which he is clearly morally and mentally unqualified.

Why Do So Many Evangelicals Support Trump?

We shouldn’t fault evangelicals for being alarmed about the direction our country is headed and their desire to regain influence over it. Given some of the left’s most abhorrent views, especially on abortion and human sexuality, most evangelicals I have talked to felt painted into a corner when it came time to vote in 2016. Many of them felt they had no other choice than to vote for Trump, given that the Democratic alternative was Hilary Clinton, someone who many evangelicals understandably could never vote for.

Another reason so many evangelicals support Trump is that they have been repeatedly told by leading evangelicals that he is God’s chosen man for the White House, something I referred to earlier as gaslighting. Paula White, Trump’s spiritual advisor (whatever that means), said Trump was specifically “raised up by God” and that if evangelicals don’t support him, they will “have to stand accountable to God.”23,24 Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, said God was the one who placed Trump in the White House and that “’Never Trump’ evangelicals are morons.”25 Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump’s former White House Press Secretary, said God “wanted Trump to be President” and “that’s why he’s there.”26 Rick Perry said Trump was “ordained by God” to be president.27 I guess the strategy here is that if you, as a leading evangelical, tell your followers something often enough, they will have no other choice than to capitulate to your point of view or be destined to spend the rest of their lives walking around feeling guilty that they didn’t support someone as disturbed as Trump.
What we must fault evangelicals for is if they do it again. Evangelicals’ motto in 2020 should be, “Fool me once, shame on you, Trump; fool me twice, shame on me.”

Given that Trump’s moral depravity has glaringly and dangerously been on display in public for three years now, how could any evangelical continue to support a man for president who is causing such great harm everywhere he goes?

The simple truth of the matter is that evangelicals who supported Trump in 2016 got conned. To put it in biblical terms, they got bewitched (Galatians 3:1). They threw their full-throated support behind a morally bankrupt and psychologically disturbed person and are headed toward making the same mistake in 2020. They chose political power over Christian values and the cause of Christ has been paying for it ever since.

The word “evangelical” used to be a term of honor, referring to a person who brought the “good news” of Christ to a fallen world, cared about living out biblical values, and devoted to serving God here on earth. Sadly, it now refers to someone who excuses the inexcusable, believes the ends justify the means, feels entitled to getting what they want, believes in their own moral superiority, exploits others to achieve their goals, and lacks empathy for how their actions negatively impact others. There are more than a few of us who are no longer willing to use the term evangelical to describe ourselves because of what Christian supporters of Trump have done to denigrate it.

A Final Warning

The Bible says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness” (Isaiah 5:2). In supporting Trump, evangelicals have called him good when he is evil, light when he is darkness. This is especially disconcerting given that Christians have the Holy Spirit inside of them, part of whose function is to guide us to truth and convict us of sin. We, of all people, should be the most discerning about a wolf in sheep’s clothing like Trump. Trump-supporting evangelicals would be wise to ask themselves why so many secular mental health professionals who are not indwelt by the Holy Spirit see Trump as an evil, malignant narcissist while so many Christians keep sticking their head in the sand denying it all.

President Trump’s mental and moral condition are only going to worsen over time. Please, don’t think for one minute that he is ever going to turn a corner and become a more psychologically and morally healthy president. Not only is he unlikely to improve, Trump’s various forms of mental and moral pathology almost always deepen and become more intractable. The primary reason why this is true is that Trump doesn’t believe there is anything wrong with him. Consequently, he doesn’t believe he has anything to change. It’s why Trump never apologizes and frequently doubles down after having done something wrong. If you are hoping for a new and improved version of Donald Trump in the future, you are fooling yourself. As a country, we simply cannot afford to give Trump another four years to further take a sledgehammer to our democracy.

I want to end with a quote from one of the mental health professionals who contributed to The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, psychologist John Gartner. This is one of many of the statements in the book that evangelicals would be wise to listen to and act on:

Trump is a profoundly evil man exhibiting malignant narcissism. His worsening hypomania is making him increasingly more irrational, grandiose, paranoid, aggressive, irritable, and impulsive. Trump is bad, mad, and getting worse. He evinces the most destructive and dangerous collection of psychiatric symptoms possible for a leader. The worst-case scenario is now our reality.

You foolish evangelicals, Trump has bewitched you. Stop calling him good when he is evil, light when he is darkness. Have nothing to do with him.

Sunday’s Hymn: Behold, a Branch Is Growing — Rebecca Writes

Behold, a Branch is growing
Of loveliest form and grace,
As prophets sung, foreknowing;
It springs from Jesse’s race
And bears one little Flow’r
In midst of coldest winter,
At deepest midnight hour.

Isaiah hath foretold it
In words of promise sure,
And Mary’s arms enfold it,
A virgin meek and pure.
Through God’s eternal will
This Child to her is given
At midnight calm and still.

The shepherds heard the story,
Proclaimed by angels bright,
How Christ, the Lord of Glory,
Was born on earth this night.
To Bethlehem they sped
And in the manger found him,
As angel heralds said.

This Flower whose fragrance tender
With sweetness fills the air,
Dispels with glorious splendor
The darkness everywhere.
True man, yet very God;
From sin and death he saves us
And lightens every load.

O Saviour, Child of Mary,
Who felt our human woe;
O Saviour, King of Glory,
Who dost our weakness know,
Bring us at length, we pray,
To the bright courts of heaven
And to the endless day.

BREAKING: Rep. Doug Collins Calls for Delay in Impeachment Hearings After Dems Dump Thousands of Documents on GOP Just Hours Before Hearing (VIDEO) — The Gateway Pundit

Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) joined Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures on Sunday morning.

Rep. Collins told Maria he is calling for a delay in the scheduled Monday morning impeachment hearing after Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler dumped a myriad of new documents on Republican lawmakers on Saturday night just hours before the first scheduled impeachment hearing on Monday morning.

Maria Bartiromo: So explain to me what happened. You say Adam Schiff just dumped thousands of pages of new documents in your lap just last night?

Rep. Doug Collins: Yesterday afternoon, we sure did… Yesterday, the Adam Schiff Report and all the underlying documents, they decided to give us all the underlying documents but not just from his committee but from Budget and Foreign Affairs, as well. This is not fair. There is no way we can process these thousands of documents. But better yet the Democrats can’t process these documents.

BREAKING: Rep. Devin Nunes Says He Will Pursue Legal Action on Adam Schiff’s Unlawful Release of His Phone Records (VIDEO) — The Gateway Pundit

House Intelligence Committee ranking member Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) joined Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures this morning.

Rep. Nunes told Maria he will take legal action against Rep. Adam Schiff for leaking his phone records in a political maneuver to embarrass and smear the Republican lawmaker.

Rep. Devin Nunes: We’re putting together a legal team. Republican members of Congress have to be concerned because if they every spoke to any of these people their records will be released. And I think journalists should be concerned… So state law, I’m a California, so for sure state law, you cannot release somebody’s phone records. So for sure that right has been violated. But we also have to look at the constitutional aspects of this.

Go get him, Devin!
