February—6 The Poor Man’s Evening Portion

And he bearing his cross.—John 19:17.

How would every incident in the life of Jesus lead out the souls of his redeemed in endless contemplation, were grace always in lively exercise! Alas! my honoured Lord, how little do I think of thee, and of thy sufferings! Will Jesus, this evening, awaken me to the solemn subject?—The bell of the neighbouring church is now tolling the curfew of the day. I hear it from my window. Ah! why should I want such a call to think on my Lord? Awake, awake, my soul, and let thy meditation take wing, and flee to Gethsemane, and from the garden and the hall, behold the Lamb of God bearing his cross towards the place of execution. O Pilate, thou unjust judge! is this thy pretended innocency, to suffer him—whom thou didst declare to be innocent, in the moment thou didst pass sentence for his death—to bear his cross also? See what long furrows the ploughers have ploughed upon his sacred back! and wilt thou compel him to bear the heavy weight upon a part so tender? See! Jesus faints under it! Will none of those, whose souls he hath redeemed, and whose bodies he hath healed, help the Lord of life and glory? Where are his disciples? Are there none to aid? Not one to be found that dares assist him?—Pause, my soul, over the sad contemplation! Christ is here, as his type represents him, the gospel Isaac, carrying the wood for his own burnt-offering. “In all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren.” It was his office to be led as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep before his shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. “It pleased the Father to bruise him, and to put him to grief.” The cross was ponderous. The body fainted under its pressure. But the sins of his redeemed made it heavier to his soul: and the weight of the Father’s wrath against sin aggravated the dreadful load. Precious Redeemer, dying Lamb of God! were my sins adding to thy sorrow? Have I been reproaching Pilate, and all the while forgetting that every transgression of mine became more painful to thy soul than the cross, or the thorns, or the soldier’s spear that pierced thine heart? Oh! for grace to crucify those sins which nailed thee to the cursed tree! Oh! for grace to take up the cross and follow thee, day by day. Lord Jesus, I would pray thee to give me grace, to go forth unto thee, “without the camp, bearing thy reproach!”[1]

A New Nature | Monergism

by Martyn Lloyd-Jones

We would almost think at this stage that we have seen all the glories which Paul saw in the cross, but that is not so—their number is not exhausted, there is more for us to see, as the Apostle still goes on glorying in it. He does so because it is to him the source and the centre out of which, and from which, come all the blessings that he has ever enjoyed as a Christian man. Now this is the thing I want to emphasize at this point. There is nothing ultimately possible for us in the way of good, apart from the cross. The cross is the source, the origin, and the centre of every blessing. There is no Christian blessing possible to anyone apart from the cross. It is impossible for anyone to be blessed by God in any way ultimately, apart from the cross. The cross is the key that opens, if I may so put it, the heart of God. And without the cross we know no blessings at all. This is a most important point. Why did the Apostle not say: ‘God forbid that I should glory, save in the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ’? Now that is what some of us would like him to say, is it not? That is what the modern man would like him to say. The modern man admires the Sermon on the Mount. He says that that is what we need, that there is the most wonderful ethical, moral, standard that has ever been invented and thought of by man, and that is what we want. There are many people who are not Christians who praise the Sermon on the Mount. The late Mr Gandhi, who died a Hindu, praised it. And there are many others who do the same. There are many infidels today who praise the Sermon on the Mount. They like Jesus, the teacher, the religious teacher, the political agitator, as they regard him, and they are ready to laud his teaching in the Sermon on the Mount.

February 6 Streams in the Desert

He turned the sea into dry land; they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.” (Psalm 66:6.)

IT is a striking assertion, “through the floods” (the place where we might have expected nothing but trembling and terror, anguish and dismay) “there,” says the Psalmist, “did we rejoice in him!”

How many there are who can endorse this as their experience: that “there,” in their very seasons of distress and sadness, they have been enabled, as they never did before, to triumph and rejoice.

How near their God in covenant is brought! How brightly shine His promises! In the day of our prosperity we cannot see the brilliancy of these. Like the sun at noon, hiding out the stars from sight, they are indiscernible; but when night overtakes, the deep, dark night of sorrow, out come these clustering stars—blessed constellations of Bible hope and promise of consolation.

Like Jacob at Jabbok, it is when our earthly sun goes down that the Divine Angel comes forth, and we wrestle with Him and prevail.

It was at night, “in the evening,” Aaron lit the sanctuary lamps. It is in the night of trouble the brightest lamps of the believer are often kindled.

It was in his loneliness and exile John had the glorious vision of his Redeemer. There is many a Patmos still in the world, whose brightest remembrances are those of God’s presence and upholding grace and love in solitude and sadness.

How many pilgrims, still passing through these Red Seas and Jordans of earthly affliction, will be enabled in the retrospect of eternity to say—full of the memories of God’s great goodness—“We went through the flood on foot, there—there, in these dark experiences, with the surging waves on every side, deep calling to deep, Jordan, as when Israel crossed it, in “the time of the overflowing’ (flood), yet, ‘there did we rejoice in Him!’ ”—Dr. Macduff.

And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the door of trouble for a door of hope: and she shall sing THERE.” (Hosea 2:15.)[1]

Bret Baier: Trump speech celebrating Senate acquittal ‘unlike anything we’ve ever seen’

President Trump’s speech reacting to his acquittal in the Senate impeachment trial was “unlike anything we’ve ever seen,” “Special Report” host Bret Baier said Thursday.

Exulting in his impeachment acquittal, a defiant President Donald Trump took a scorched-earth victory lap Thursday, unleashing his fury against those who tried to remove him from office and pointing ahead to his reelection campaign.

Trump, triumphantly waving a newspaper front page — “ACQUITTED” — declared the impeachment proceedings a “disgrace” and portrayed himself as a victim of political foes he labeled “scum,” “sleaze bags” and “horrible” people. Hours earlier, he unleashed broadsides that stunned the crowd at an annual prayer breakfast.

“It was evil, it was corrupt,” Trump declared at the White House. “This should never ever happen to another president, ever.”

He conceded nothing in regard to charges that he improperly withheld U.S. military aid in an effort to pressure Ukraine to investigate Democratic foe Joe Biden and other political matters.

“We went through hell, unfairly,” he insisted. “We did nothing wrong.”

Venting for more than an hour, Trump railed against against the impeachment process and ticked off names of the “vicious and mean” people he felt had wronged him: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and former FBI Director James Comey. But then he reveled in the 52-48 verdict on the abuse of power article of impeachment delivered by the GOP-controlled Senate the day before.

“Now we have that gorgeous word. I never thought it would sound so good,” Trump said. Ït’s called ‘total acquittal.’”

As Trump spoke, the White House East Room was packed with hundreds of supporters. Among them: Republican senators who voted to acquit him, Cabinet members and staunch House allies.

Trump’s at-times angry speech pushed beyond his State of the Union address two nights earlier, during which he stuck to the script and made no mention of impeachment. Not using a teleprompter this time, Trump delivered rambling remarks saluting “a great group of warriors,” name-checking GOP lawmakers who had backed him both in the Capitol and on television.

He declared that the Republican Party had never been more unified and predicted momentum from the acquittal would carry him to reelection this November. But he also predicted that he may have to fend off another impeachment challenge, perhaps for something as trivial as jaywalking.

“We’ll probably have to do it again because these people have gone stone-cold crazy,” the president said.

Earlier, speaking from a stage where he was joined by congressional leaders, including Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who led the impeachment charge against him, Trump shattered the usual veneer of bipartisanship at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.

“As everybody knows, my family, our great country and your president have been put through a terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people,” Trump said at the annual event.

“They have done everything possible to destroy us and by so doing very badly hurt our nation,” said Trump, again holding up newspapers with banner “ACQUITTED” headlines.

His remarks were especially jarring and whiplash-inducing coming after a series of scripture-quoting speeches, including a keynote address by Arthur Brooks, a Harvard professor and president of a conservative think tank, who had bemoaned a “crisis of contempt and polarization” in the nation and urged those gathered to ”love your enemies.”

“I don’t know if I agree with you,” Trump said as he took the microphone, and then he proceeded to demonstrate it.

“I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong,” he said in an apparent reference to Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, a longtime Trump critic who cited his faith in becoming the only Republican to vote for Trump’s removal.

“Nor do I like people who say ‘I pray for you’ when you know that is not so,’” he said, in a reference to Pelosi, who has offered that message for the president when the two leaders have sparred publicly.

The House speaker shook her head at various points during Trump’s remarks, but did not appear to interact with Trump personally. Earlier she had offered a prayer for the poor and the persecuted.

At the White House later, Trump defended his prayer breakfast attacks on Pelosi, saying “I had Nancy Pelosi sitting four seats away and I’m saying things a lot of people wouldn’t have said. I meant every word.”

Pelosi said that Trump’s remarks were “so completely inappropriate, especially at a prayer breakfast..” She took particular issue with his swipe at Romney’s faith and said that yes, she does pray for the president.

His comments were a clear sign that the post-impeachment Trump is emboldened like never before as he barrels ahead in his reelection fight with a united Republican Party behind him. And they stood in stark contrast to the apology offered by Bill Clinton in the aftermath of his own impeachment acquittal in 1999.

Clinton said then in a White House address: “I want to say again to the American people how profoundly sorry I am for what I said and did to trigger these events and the great burden they have imposed on the Congress and on the American people.”

The only contrition Trump offered was to his own family, saying, “I want to apologize to my family for having them go through a phony rotten deal.”

Instead, Trump defended his call with Ukraine’s president — again calling it “perfect”— that Democrats used as the starting point to launch impeachment proceedings against the president for pressuring a foreign government to investigate a political foe.

The president and his allies have been on a victory lap since Wednesday.

Indeed, the night of the impeachment vote was one of revelry for members of the president’s circle. In Washington, many, including Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, his girlfriend, former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, and the president’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, gathered at the president’s hotel a few blocks from the White House, one of the few MAGA safe zones in the deeply Democratic city.

The president himself remained at the White House but worked the phones, calling confidants.

February 6th The D. L. Moody Year Book

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and His way judgment: and those that walk in pride He is able to abase.—Daniel 4:37.

WHEN you find that a man has got to praising God it is a good sign. Nebuchadnezzar’s earlier edict said much about other people’s duty toward the God of the Hebrews, but nothing about what the king himself should do. Oh, let us get to personal love, personal praise! That is what is wanted in the church in the present day.

Nebuchadnezzar passes from the stage: this is the last record we have of him. But we may surely hope that his was a “repentance to salvation not to salvation not to be repented of.” If so, we may well believe that to-day Nebuchadnezzar the king and Daniel the captive are walking the crystal pavement of heaven arm-in-arm together; and, it may be, talking over the old times in Babylon.[1]

Van Jones says Democrats are in trouble: Trump is helping African Americans ‘in real life’ | LifeZette

After the State of the Union address Tuesday night, CNN commentator Van Jones warned Democrats  that President Donald Trump was helping African Americans “in real life” and was actively reaching out to them for votes.

Jones noted that the president cited several measures to specifically help African-Americans.

Jones Gets Real with Democrats

“What he was saying to African-Americans can be effective,” Jones said. “You may not like it, but he mentioned HBCUs [historically black colleges and universities] — our black colleges have been struggling for a long time, a bunch of them have gone under — he threw a lifeline to them, in real life, in his budget. He talked about that. He talked about the criminal justice reform. He talked about opportunity zones. He talked about school choice.”

Democrats failed to report results of Monday’s first, crucial presidential primary contest, the Iowa Caucus. Jones noted that Trump’s State of the Union address came in the wake of Democrats’ completely flubbing Iowa caucuses.

Jones tweeted a video of what he said on the CNN panel, adding: “WAKE UP, folks. The #IowaCaucus was a debacle, followed by a strong #SOTU speech laying out Trump’s strategy to win – which includes going for Black voters. This was a warning shot from the Trump campaign to liberals, and we need to take this VERY seriously in order to win.”

Democrats Continue to be Their Own Worst Enemy

Jones has been critical of the Trump administration, though he did support Trump passing criminal justice reform through the First Step Act.

President Trump paid tribute to several African-American guests and heroes during his SOTU, including Tuskegee Airman Charles McGee, Army Veteran Tony Rankins and fourth grader Janiyah Davis, who he awarded an Opportunity Scholarship.

Jones is not wrong that President Trump heavily emphasized issues of importance to African Americans in ways that Democrats ignore at their own peril.

Will it help re-elect him in 2020? Time will tell. In the meantime, especially after the Iowa Caucus, Democrats continue to be their own worst enemy.

Sanders Calls Out DNC for Changing Rules So Bloomberg Can Participate in Next Debate While Keeping Out Gabbard, Yang — The Gateway Pundit

Senator Bernie Sanders is blasting the Democratic National Committee for changing their rules to allow Michael Bloomberg to participate in the next debate, while keeping out others like Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

Speaking at a press conference in New Hampshire, Sanders called the rule change an “outrage.”

“I think it is an outrage,” Sanders said. “Listen, rules are rules and people like Julián Castro played by the rules, campaigned really hard. Cory Booker played by the rules. Tulsi Gabbard played by the rules. Andrew Yang played by the rules.”

“And based on the rules determined by the DNC, they were unable to participate in one or more debates,” he continued.

Sanders did not say Bloomberg’s name, just referring to him as a guy “worth $55 billion.”

“Suddenly a guy comes in who has not campaigned one bit in Iowa or New Hampshire…but he’s worth $55 billion and I guess if you’re worth $55 billion you can get the rules changed for a debate,” Sanders said.

Last week, the DNC dropped the donor requirement for participation in the February debate in Las Vegas — meaning that Bloomberg and his self-funded campaign could potentially be eligible to participate. To make the stage, candidates must now only meet a delegates threshold or a polling threshold.

In order to be eligible, candidates must have gained either one delegate in the disastrous Iowa caucus or New Hampshire primary, reach 10 percent support in at least four national polls or surveys of South Carolina and Nevada between Jan. 15 and Feb. 18., or reach 12 percent support in two sanctioned national or early-state surveys.

Bloomberg has previously not been eligible for the debates because he did not reach the donor threshold that was previously required.

Senators Seek Hunter Biden Travel Records From Secret Service Shortly After Trump Acquittal | The Epoch Times

Two Republican senators submitted a request for Hunter Biden’s travel records shortly after Republican President Donald Trump was cleared of charges that stemmed from his actions pertaining to Biden and Biden’s father, former Vice President and 2020 Democratic contender Joe Biden.

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who both voted to acquit Trump on Wednesday, sent a letter to James Murray, Director of the Secret Service, asking if Hunter Biden “used government-sponsored travel to help conduct private business.”

The request is part of a review being conducted by multiple Senate committees of potential conflicts of interest posed by Biden, 49, and his associates during the Obama administration.

Joe Biden, 77, was vice president in the administration. His son served on the board of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company, from 2014 to 2019, in addition to conducting business in China.

Grassley, the Finance chairman, and Johnson, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs chairman, noted in their letter that Hunter Biden flew aboard Air Force Two with his father to China in December 2013, just one month after Rosemont Seneca, an investment firm that Biden helped create, entered into a deal with Bohai Capital to form BHR. While in China, Biden arranged for Jonathan Li, the CEO of Bohai Capital, to “shake hands” with Vice President Biden and afterward Hunter Biden and Li met for what was described as a “social meeting.”

“After the China trip, BHR’s business license was approved,” the senators wrote (pdf), adding that in 2015 BHR and another Chinese firm acquired Henniges, a major U.S. automotive manufacturer.

The senators wrote to Murray requesting information, they said, that would “help the committees better understand Hunter Biden’s travel arrangements to conduct business related to his dealings in Ukraine and China, among other countries, while he received a protective detail.”

They asked for a description of the protective detail that Biden received while his father was in office and a list of dates and locations or travel for Biden during that time.

Information from the Secret Service will likely be unclassified, the senators said.

Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in July 2019 to “look into” corruption allegations against the Bidens.

“There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great,” Trump said, according to a transcript released by the White House.

Joe Biden in 2018 said that in 2016 he pressured Ukraine to oust Viktor Shokin, a prosecutor who was probing Burisma.

“I said, you’re not getting the billion. I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money. Well, son of a [expletive]. He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time,” Biden said at a Council on Foreign Relations event.

Trump also asked China to investigate the Bidens.

“I would think if they were honest about it they would start a major investigation into the Bidens. It’s a very simple answer. They should investigate the Bidens,” Trump told reporters in October 2019 when asked whether Ukraine should probe the Bidens.

President Donald Trump speaks to media before departing the White House on Marine One on Oct. 11, 2019. (Charlotte Cuthbertson/The Epoch Times)

“And by the way, China should start an investigation into the Bidens. Because what happened with China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine,” he added.

Hunter Biden defended his work in Ukraine and China and Joe Biden has repeatedly said his son did nothing wrong, though he agreed last week that his son’s Burisma position was “a bad image.”

Democrats launched an impeachment inquiry after a person filed a complaint over Trump’s call with Zelensky. The House of Representatives voted in December 2019 to impeach Trump for abuse of office and obstruction of Congress but the Senate voted on Feb. 5 to acquit Trump. The vote was split along party lines except for Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who voted for the first article and against the second article.

Grassley and Johnson have sent other requests for information on Hunter Biden. In November 2019, they requested documents and other information from the State Department related to the department’s interactions with Hunter Biden. That same month, they sent a letter to the Treasury Department asking about any possible reports of money laundering or fraud in the business dealings of Biden.

The following month, Grassley, Johnson, and Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said they were seeking interviews with former Obama administration officials about Hunter Biden and Burisma.

DNC Chair Tom Perez Calls For Recanvassing Of Iowa Caucuses — The Federalist

Tom Perez demanded a recanvassing of the Iowa caucuses Thursday four days after Iowa cast the first votes in the 2020 election without full results.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez demanded a recanvassing of the Iowa caucuses Thursday four days after Iowa Democrats cast the first votes in the 2020 election without full results.

“Enough is enough,” Perez wrote on Twitter. “In light of the problems that have emerged in the implementation of the delegate selection plan and in order to assure public confidence in the results, I am calling on the Iowa Democratic Party to immediately begin a recanvass.”

Enough is enough. In light of the problems that have emerged in the implementation of the delegate selection plan and in order to assure public confidence in the results, I am calling on the Iowa Democratic Party to immediately begin a recanvass.

— Tom Perez (@TomPerez) February 6, 2020

Perez added in a follow-up tweet that the party would continue to report the results as they became available.

“A recanvass is a review of the worksheets from each caucus site to ensure accuracy,” Perez said. “The IDP will continue to report results.”

Perez’s demands come as the Iowa Democrats have yet to announce a winner in the first-in-the-nation contest state for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination eroding any benefits of winning in the caucus.

After candidates, campaigns, staff, and volunteers poured years of labor and dumped millions of dollars in the Hawkeye state, top-place finishers were robbed of the opportunity to showcase the strength of their efforts moving into the subsequent stages of the primary. Tuesday morning was the only news cycle with a chance to offer the candidates the glowing press coverage that comes with taking home a first-place finish. Instead, Tuesday saw headlines covering the disaster caucus rather than a candidate’s face and name appearing on every major newspaper in the country.

Four days later, the news cycle has moved onto President Donald Trump’s State of the Union, and the president’s acquittal of impeachment charges in the Senate landing the Democrats in disarray Trump claims a triumphant victory while Democrats conduct damage control.

The Iowa caucuses dismantled into chaos Monday night when the vote-reporting app used by volunteers crashed when vote totals began coming into the state party.

According to the New York Times, the app used had only recently been engineered in the past two months leading up to caucus day and had yet to be tested statewide. The app facilitating a critical election used to narrow the presidential field was also not vetted by the Department of Homeland Security cybersecurity agency and was sent to volunteers without any training on how to use the new technology.

ProPublic found on Wednesday that well-trained hackers could have easily compromised the integrity of the elections as the app lacked “key safeguards,” to protect it from intrusion.

The Iowa Democratic Party has said there is no evidence that the failures on Monday were a result of hacking.

As of Thursday afternoon, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg are neck-and-neck with 97 percent of precincts reporting, though Sanders won the popular vote in both rounds of voting.

Most candidates in the race declared a victor in Iowa regardless of the results. The next contest is the New Hampshire primary scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

Proof That Democrats Rigged Iowa Caucus To Favor Buttigieg And Block Sanders, George Soros Financed Failed Voting App From Hillary Tech Guru — Now The End Begins

The failed Iowa caucus voting app that caused all the trouble during Democratic Iowa caucus financed by gay mayor Pete Buttigieg and George Soros

The dust from the failed Democratic Iowa Caucus is still floating down, trying to settle, but recent revelations are rendering that impossible. Yesterday we learned that end times villain George Soros gave millions of dollars to Shadow Inc., the company that made the voter app used by the Democrats to control caucus voting. Well, it controlled it alright, so much so that the entire system imploded sending the Democratic caucus into paroxysms of chaos and confusion. Evidentially, George Soros got what he paid for. Give the Devil his due, good job, George.

Then, with the caucus sufficiently hindered, votes already cast started flipping from Communist Bernie Sanders to gay mayor Pete Buttigieg. Oh, at this point you should probably also be made aware of the fact that gay mayor Pete donated $42,500 to the failed voting app company that we told you was also financed by George Soros. Oh again, the man behind the failed voting app is the former tech guru for the failed Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign. Have you checked the headlines lately? Pete Buttigieg is in the lead, it’s a Christmas miracle!!! (insert eye-rolling emoji here)

This is the current and proven state of the Democratic Party, busily hacking and rigging their own election process. Just as they did in 2016 when they rigged their nomination process to favor Hillary Clinton and stop Communist Bernie Sanders, they are now doing it by promoting gay mayor Pete and attempting to stop Communist Bernie Sanders.

The Democratic Party’s Crisis of Legitimacy May Be Just Beginning

FROM NY MAGAZINE: Complaints about “rigging” began with an agonizingly narrow Sanders defeat to Clinton in the Iowa caucus four years before. They continued throughout the contest, with every routine snafu — in NevadaNew York, and the possibility that party super-delegates would provide Hillary Clinton the winning margin — held up as more evidence of the conspiracy.

Bernie Sanders himself has toggled between cooperating with the party and stoking the paranoia of his supporters. He never fully abandoned the claim that — despite losing by a double-digit margin — the party robbed him. “Some people say that maybe if the system wasn’t rigged against me, I would’ve won the nomination,” he insisted last year.

The party instituted a number of changes intended to inoculate itself against accusations of rigging. In Iowa, the Democratic caucus instituted new rules, “mandated by the DNC as part of a package of changes sought by Bernie Sanders” and “designed to make the caucus system more transparent.” The new rules required reporting several different sets of numbers from every precinct. This reflected a long-standing proclivity in left-of-center politics to meet every demand for fairness with new layers of complexity.

Anybody who has witnessed or participated in a grassroots progressive organization has seen this intricate, rules-based method democracy in action. Monty Python lampooned the tendency in Holy Grail. (“We’re an anarcho-syndicalist commune,” a peasant explains to the impatient King Arthur. “We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week, but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs, but by a two-thirds majority in the case of more major …”)

pp blamed for botched Iowa caucus created by Hillary Clinton campaign alum

The party attempted to introduce a new app to report precinct results, which its older precinct captains largely failed to master, and its phone-reporting system buckled under the weight of the elevated confusion. There is no evidence voting results themselves have been compromised (at least not beyond the normal levels of confusion produced by the chaotic process).

What may turn a routine bureaucratic failure into a larger Democratic crisis, though, is the Bernie movement’s preexisting suspicion. Sanders is not alone in this — the Biden campaign shamefully issued a statement calling the results into doubt, in a transparent effort to discredit a vote it clearly lost. But the bulk of the suspicions came from Sanders supporters, who quickly reprised their 2016 rigging claims.

In the end, the Iowa Democratic caucus will probably report accurate results. But the corrosive damage to the legitimacy of the system will remain. What ought to terrify Democrats is that the process is only beginning. It will be, by design, more elongated than 2016, and party leaders will have even less influence over its outcome. So far, the attempts the party has made to stave off challenges to its legitimacy have only exacerbated them. READ MORE

Pelosi May Have Violated Fed. Law by Tearing Trump’s Speech, Gaetz Calls for DOJ Prosecution

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi generated plenty of headlines and video coverage when she dramatically ripped up a written copy of President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday. But, according to Rep. Matt Gaetz, she might have done something more.

Gingrich: Pelosi should be censured for “viciously partisan” actions | LifeZette

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich called for Nancy Pelosi to be censured for her “viciously partisan” behavior at the State of the Union.

Gingrich: “I am Disgusted and Insulted”

At the end of President Trump’s incredible State of the Union speech on Tuesday night, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi decided it would be a good idea to rip up a copy of the speech that the President had just given. Pelosi ripped it up while the cameras were still rolling, in some sort of cringeworthy “act of defiance” against the President who she is desperately trying to remove from office.

The speech included praise for World War II veterans, our brave border enforcement officers, young African-American students and premature babies, all of which Pelosi decided deserved to be torn up.

RELATED: Outrage After ‘Classless’ Nancy Pelosi Rips Up Trump’s SOTU Speech And Tosses It Away

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, the Speaker during the last impeachment process, was appalled by Pelosi’s behavior.

“As Speaker of the House for four State of the Unions by a President of the other party, I am disgusted and insulted by the viciously partisan action of Nancy Pelosi tearing up the speech,” Gingrich wrote on Twitter. “She isn’t clever or cute her childishness insults our American traditions -should be censured.”

Censure is the Only Way Forward!

Many users on Twitter were in stern agreement with Gingrich, and were disgusted with Pelosi’s actions.

RELATED: Here’s The Exact Moment Trump Smacked Down Democrat Socialists In His SOTU Speech

I certainly agree with Gingrich that censuring Pelosi is the way forward. There is a difference between criticizing the President, which she has every right to do, and then being blatantly disrespectful to not only him, but all of his invited guests.

Furthermore, she couldn’t even wait until the speech had barely ended – another big middle finger to the President. Censuring occurs when a member’s actions “run counter to the group’s acceptable standards for individual behavior” – if this doesn’t fall under that category, then I don’t know what does!

Absolute Truth from the Word of God

Brethren, I am just going to get right into this frontpagemag piece by David Horowitz. It states things that we already know, but it needed to be in PRINT:

Did the America people not see this HATRED hiding in “Plain Site” at the SOTU Address?

The Hate America Project

How the NY Times, the Pulitzer Foundation and America’s cultural elite have aimed a dagger at America’s heart.

Editorial Note: It’s time to recognize that the current ideologies of the progressive Left and the Democrat Party – Cultural Marxism and Identity Politics – pose existential threats to America’s survival.

America is unique among nations in being founded on a set of ideas and values rather than having a shared “identity” based on “blood and soil.” The founding of America during the revolutionary era 1776 – 1787 was based on principles that provide the sinews of our national identity. They…

BREAKING: Treasury Dept Hands Over Highly Sensitive Financial Records About Hunter Biden to Expanding GOP Senate Probe — The Gateway Pundit

The Treasury Department has complied with GOP Senators and handed over highly sensitive financial records on Hunter Biden and his associates.

GOP Senators Grassley (IA) and Johnson (WI) this week requested the official travel documents of Hunter Biden from the US Secret Service.

The Senators are expanding their investigation and just received “evidence of questionable origin” from the Treasury Department.

The Senate committee is also seeking documents on Hunter Biden from the State Department, Justice Department and the National Archives.

Yahoo reported: (emphasis our own)

The Treasury Department has complied with Republican senators’ requests for highly sensitive and closely held financial records about Hunter Biden and his associates and has turned over “‘evidence’ of questionable origin” to them, according to a leading Democrat on one of the committees conducting the investigation.

For months, while the impeachment controversy raged, powerful committee chairmen in the Republican-controlled Senate have been quietly but openly pursuing an inquiry into Hunter Biden’s business affairs and Ukrainian officials’ alleged interventions in the 2016 election, the same matters that President Trump and his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani unsuccessfully tried to coerce Ukraine’s government to investigate.

Grassley and Johnson have sought to obtain some of the most sensitive and closely held documents in all of federal law enforcement — highly confidential suspicious activity reports (SARs) filed by financial institutions with FinCEN, an agency of the Treasury that helps to police money laundering.

This comes two weeks after five members of Joe Biden’s family were accused of enriching themselves thanks to Joe Biden’s lifelong ‘career’ in politics.

“Secret Empires” author Peter Schweizer detailed how Biden’s entire family made millions of dollars off of Joe Biden’s position in US government.

Front and center is Hunter Biden’s multi-million dollar payout for sitting on the board of Burisma Holdings, a corrupt Ukrainian natural gas company despite having zero knowledge in the field.

According to Giuliani, money was laundered through a few countries before making its way to Hunter Biden’s bank account.

“All of a sudden Shokin gets this communique from Latvia that shows a $16 million laundering transaction — classic laundering transaction,” Giuliani said. “It goes from Ukraine, to Latvia, it’s disguised as a loan to another company to ‘Wirelogic’ I believe — it then goes to Cyprus, gets disguised as another loan — this is called “Digitech” then it’s dispersed as payment as board fees,” Giuliani said in December.

Giuliani added, “Now you don’t make two loans to make board fees unless you’re laundering the money. $3 million gets to Hunter Biden in that way.”

“That is a straight out violation of a money laundering statute,” he said.

Joe Biden has never been investigated for the millions his family skimmed from foreign governments to Biden family members during his time in office.

Will the coronavirus kill 53 million people? The problem of predictions and power of providence — Denison Forum

Will the Wuhan coronavirus kill fifty-three million people?

According to an AI-powered simulation, it could infect as many as 2.5 billion people within forty-five days and kill as many as 52.9 million of them.

That’s the horrible news.

Here’s the better news: the computer doesn’t know all that we know.

The technologist who built the predictive model used mortality rate statistics as they have been reported. But medical professionals say the actual mortality rate from the Wuhan virus is much lower than first reports would indicate.

A professor explains: “If a high proportion of infected persons are asymptomatic, or develop only mild symptoms, these patients may not be reported and the actual number of persons infected in China may be much higher than reported. This may mean that the mortality rate (currently estimated at 2% of infected persons) may be much lower.”

In addition, containment of the outbreak in China and prevention of its spread to other countries is expected to result in a much lower number of infections and deaths than initial reports would suggest. The model’s predictions also seem much too high given other medical experience. For example, the flu infected about 8 percent of the population over seven to eight months last year; the AI model making news has one-third of the world’s population being infected in six weeks.

Experts now believe that the coronavirus is likely to spread around the world but it is unlikely to be as deadly as predicted. We should also note that the common flu, blamed for killing fifty million people after World War I, is still around. So far this season, it has infected nineteen million people, causing 180,000 hospitalizations and killing 10,000 people.

And yet we are not nearly as alarmed about it as we are about the Wuhan virus.

The problem of predictions and power of providence

Two facts follow.

One: Our predictions about the future are based on our assumptions about the present. But finite humans (and the technology we invent and use) can never know all that can be known. And we interpret the world through our own biases and premises. As a result, we cannot predict the future with accuracy because we cannot interpret the present with accuracy.

Two: The best way to handle fears about the future is to prepare as best we can while trusting the power and providence of God. He sees tomorrow better than we can see today. His plan is always better than ours (Isaiah 55:8–9; Romans 12:2).

Like Noah building an ark for a storm whose arrival he could not predict, we are called to do all we can while trusting the Lord to do all he can. When he calls us to step with Joshua into the flooded Jordan river, we can know that he will respond to our faith with his faithfulness (Joshua 3). When we pray for our Peter in prison, we can know that he hears us and will do whatever is best (Acts 12).

What fears about the future are you facing today?

Rod Dreher: Social Justice is ‘utopian political cult’ & ‘fanatical religion’ — Capstone Report

Intersectional Proletariat of marginalized and oppressed are the revolutionary class, according to Dreher.

So, why did the Southern Baptist Convention embrace Intersectionality and Critical Race Theory? Perhaps to create a Revolutionary Class within America’s religious institutions?

The National Conservatism Conference held Feb. 4 in Rome will be online soon. Yoram Hazony promised the speeches will be available and judging from the few excerpts making their way out of the conference—these will be important viewing for those who defend Western Civilization. One important speech was Rod Dreher’s. He’s posted the transcript and it is worth noting how perfectly Dreher describes our current situation.

Dreher said, “The all-consuming ideology among us is not racist nationalism or Marxism-Leninism, but rather a globalist, victim-focused identity politics, often called ‘social justice.’ The revolutionary class is not the German volk or the international proletariat, but the ‘marginalized’ and ‘oppressed’ – the Sacred Victim. Like Bolshevism, social justice is a utopian political cult. It sounds like a political platform, or maybe a therapeutic management system, but the best way to understand it is as a fanatical religion.”

Exactly this. (There is a lot of good stuff in the speech that you can and should read in Dreher’s blog post.)

Social Justice is a religion. It preaches and teaches that some people—the oppressed—have special knowledge unavailable to the rest of us. We must sit down, shut up and allow the Intersectional lottery to determine who speaks and who rules.

It is bad enough to experience this in our social-political life.

However, it is happening in the church.

In June, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) approved the use of Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality as Analytical Tools.

Yes, the so-called conservative Southern Baptist Convention approved the use of Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality.

Why would the SBC Elites who introduced the resolution and promoted it at the Annual Meeting pursue this course?

Well, Pravda, err, Baptist Press issued an Explainer.

No, wait. This time it is a Q&A and FAQ on the infamous Resolution 9. It is the usual university style non-denial denial that the SBC embraced and promoted the use of the Analytical Tools of Identity Politics.

Whatever the excuses offered, the fact remains—the SBC embraced divisive tools utilized to destroy the foundations of society.

As society focuses on racial division, the SBC follows. At the MLK 50 Conference and T4G conference, grievance politics was promoted. David Platt mangled his sermon Amos and it in conflated disparities with proof of injustice.

As Slow To Write so wisely observed about Platt’s sermon, “I don’t think anyone denies that racial disparities exist in America. But racial disparities are not independently indicative of racial injustice today. In fact, these racial disparities are not unique to America. Racial disparities exist in Canada too, though Black Canadians have not widely experienced systemic racism at any point in the nation’s history. Conflating racial injustice with racial disparities is Marxist, and it is incompatible with a Mosaic and biblical definition of justice.”

History & Shame

Dreher made another important point in his speech—that the Elites seek to make people ashamed of their heritage.

Dreher said, “The globalists try to make the nations ashamed of their heritage, in the same way the communists did to the masses they wished to control. We have to refuse this! We do not have to believe in a triumphalist myth of a golden age. We only have to look around us with eyes of gratitude for the good and beautiful things that our ancestors have given to us – and defend them as our own.”

This is important because any national history will include unjust and dishonorable elements. History is made by man—and man is sinful. For every Henry V there is a Richard III. But the Social Justice myth is that an entire class of people is guilty of past sins and should bear the present shame of it.

And that’s how Evangelical Elite rhetoric works against Southern Christians.

Russell Moore said at the MLK 50 event, “And time and time again, in the white American Bible Belt, the people of God had to choose between Jesus Christ and Jim Crow, because you cannot serve both, and tragically, many often chose to serve Jim Crow and to rename him Jesus Christ.”

Of course, The Gospel Coalition’s Thabiti Anyabwile was even more explicit in shaming Americans and driving a wedge between the past and present. In the aftermath of the MLK 50 Conference, Anyabwile declared all white Americans guilty in the murder of Martin Luther King. He wrote, “My white neighbors and Christian brethren can start by at least saying their parents and grandparents and this country are complicit in murdering a man who only preached love and justice.

And of course Anyabwile, a darling of The Gospel Coalition and a Southern Baptist pastor asserted that white heterosexual men oppress women and homosexuals in the US.

So much for the soul who sins will die. Nope. That is out of style in today’s Woke Social Justice world.

It is all about oppression and group responsibility.

It is dangerous in politics, but now threatens the church.

CHRISLAM: Pope Francis Calls For Global Wealth Distribution, Says Tax Cuts Are A Sin, Doesn’t Mention Vatican Is World’s Wealthiest Corporation — Now The End Begins

Tax cuts for the wealthy constitute a “structure of sin,” Chrislam Pope Francis said Wednesday in a passionate address calling for international wealth redistribution.

Communists and Socialists are always concerned about other people’s money, and getting their hands on it is their all-consuming thought. Pope Francis, good Communist that he and all popes are, is no different. This is why you see him popping up constantly at meetings with CEOs who control billion dollar corporations, currying favor and making sure he is close to the money. Did you know that the Vatican is the world’s wealthiest company?

“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.” Luke 2:1-3 (KJB)

We have told you many times that the first time Jesus came, it was under Roman occupation at a time of global taxation. At His Second Coming, 7 years after the Pretribulation Rapture of the Church takes place, Rome will again be in power and there will be global taxation. This is why you are now seeing Pope Francis gathering his children together to form the end times One World Religion of Chrislam, and why he endlessly talks about wealth redistribution and global taxation.

Here’s a simple question no one ever seems to ask. Since the Vatican vaults contain a disproportionate amount of the world’s great art and literary treasures valued in the billions of dollars, how come no one ever asks Pope Francis why they don’t sell some of them and give it to the poor? If they did that they would have endless financial resources with which to help the poor out of poverty, but they don’t do it. Yeah, someone should ask the pope that sometime.

Pope Francis Calls for Global Wealth Redistribution

FROM BREITBART NEWS: “Every year hundreds of billions of dollars, which should be paid in taxes to fund health care and education, accumulate in tax haven accounts,” Pope Francis told participants in a Vatican seminar, “thus impeding the possibility of the dignified and sustained development of all social agents.”

The Vatican Billions Avro Manhattan“Today’s structures of sin include repeated tax cuts for the richest people, often justified in the name of investment and development,” Francis told the meeting organized by the Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences.

During his discourse, the pope repeated his conviction that poverty is on the rise worldwide and “the poor increase around us.”

With the passage of time and the advances of civilization the number of poor people increases rather than diminishing, Francis similarly asserted last June, and “the poor are always poorer, and today they are poorer than ever.”

As a Brookings Institution report noted in late 2018, however, the world is currently experiencing “the lowest prevalence of extreme poverty ever recorded in human history — less than 8 percent,” and that number falls with each passing year.

According to the widely used “international poverty line,” people are considered to be in “extreme poverty” if they live on less than $1.90 per day or its equivalent.

In the world today, less than 10 percent of the global population lives in extreme poverty, whereas just 30 years ago (1990), some 37 percent of the world lived in extreme poverty. Two centuries ago, nearly everyone in the world lived in extreme poverty. While in the year 1800 almost 90 percent of the world’s population subsisted on less than $1 a day, that percentage had been constantly falling, dropping below 20 percent in the year 2000 and below 10 percent in the present day.

It is not only “extreme poverty” that is falling, however. The global poverty rate has been falling across every single poverty line, whether the bar is set at $1.90 a day or $10 a day. In his address Wednesday, the pope lamented that the per capita annual income in the world this year will be $12,000 “according to official reports.”

The Coming Global Tax and the Kingdom of Antichrist

According to data from the World Bank, however, annual per capita income worldwide has been increasing dramatically year by year and in 2018 was $17,948. Furthermore, the World Bank reveals, global per capita income has increased by over 200 percent since 1990 and is now more than three times higher than its 1990 level of $5,498.

This does not suggest that poverty is not a problem or that poverty reduction is not a worthy and important goal. It does mean, however, that global poverty is not increasing but is decreasing rapidly. In free market economies that favor wealth creation such as the United States, “extreme poverty” has virtually been eradicated.

For example, in 2005, 78.3 percent of households living in “poverty” (by U.S. standards) had air conditioning, whereas in 1970, 36.0 percent of all households had air conditioning.

“If extreme poverty exists in the midst of wealth (also extreme) it is because we have allowed the gap to widen to become the largest in history,” the pope said. “The world’s 50 richest people have $2.2 trillion worth of assets. These fifty people alone could fund the health care and education of every poor child in the world, whether through taxes, philanthropic initiatives, or both.”

It must be acknowledged, however, that no such “gap” exists between the wealthy and the poor, since the vast majority of people live somewhere in the middle. There is not a cluster of ridiculously rich people followed by an immense mass of very poor people. The majority of people are neither very rich nor very poor. READ MORE
