“I Thought I Was Supposed To Be Heard”: Full Highlights From Barr ‘Hearing’ | Zero Hedge

Today’s ‘testimony’ by Attorney General William Barr in front of the Democratic-led House Judiciary Committee was, as the Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross puts it, an unmitigated shit show. 

The session consisted of Democratic lawmakers shouting hyperbolic questions at the Attorney General, then cutting him off when he would begin to respond.

This is a hearing, I thought I was the one who was supposed to be heard,” Barr said at one point.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) slammed Democrats on the Committee, saying “I don’t think we’ve ever had a hearing where the witness wasn’t allowed to respond to points made, questions asked, and attacks — attacks made. Not just in this hearing, not just in this committee, but in every committee I’ve been on,” adding “Particularly when you think about the fact that we have the attorney general of the United States here.”

“I want the attorney general to be able to have enough time to respond to accusations and questions asked him, and you guys not cut him off,” Jordan added.

While Barr kept his cool throughout most of the theatrics, at one point he said “I’m going to answer the damn question” during a particularly heated exchange with Rep. Joe Neguse (D-CO).

Then, during a round of ‘questioning’ by Rep. Madeline Dean (D-PA), Barr asked her to explain a DOJ policy on the use of less-than lethal weapons, which she couldn’t do – to which Barr bursts out laughing.

Barr was then cut off as he explained his sympathy for cancer survivors.

Things became particularly contentious in an exchange with Rep. Pramila Jaypal, who began to ‘lose her temper’ at Barr.

Throughout the day, when Democratic representatives questioned Barr about specific allegations of abuse of power, they either quickly stepped over their own lines of questioning or interrupted Barr. This tactic may have been effective in preventing Barr from filibustering, but it did nothing to get any answers whatsoever from him. –Slate

Perhaps Barr wasn’t allowed a word in edgewise because of tidbits such as this:

Towards the end, Barr asks Nadler for a five-minute break, which Nadler denied. After eventually relenting, Barr called him a ‘real class act.’

July 28 Successful Failures

 

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
(Revelation 21:7)

“Successful failures” are people who use their set backs to bring them out on top. You successfully fail when it stirs you up to keep on trying. It’s like the old farmer whose mule fell into a well. Since he couldn’t pull the mule out, he decided to bury him. He got a truckload of dirt and dumped it on top of him. But instead of lying down under the dirt, the mule started kicking and snorting until he worked his way to the top of it. This continued all afternoon, truckload after truckload, and the mule just kept tramping away. Finally, when the dirt reached the top, the mule just snorted and walked away, a dirtier but wiser mule. What was intended to bury him just “put him on top.” That’s a successful failure!

Also, you fail successfully when you discover your true self. When Nathaniel Hawthorne was fired from his job, he was devastated. But his wife said to him, “Now you can start that book you’ve always wanted to write. Out of that came The Scarlet Letter. James Whistler failed at West Point. He also failed in business, so he tried painting—and the rest is history. It’s not over until God says it’s over!

U.S. Attorney General William Barr at a recent House testimony, responded to the ongoing events in Portland. He reflected on the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis and how it, ‘jarred the whole country and forced us to reflect on longstanding issues in the nation.’

Barr continued, “Given our history, it’s understandable that among black Americans, there’s some ambivalence and often distrust toward the police. Until just last 50 years ago or so, our laws and our institutions were explicitly racist, explicitly discriminatory. It was not until the 60s that the civil rights movement finally succeeded in tearing down the Jim Crow edifice. Our laws finally came to formally embody the guarantee of equal protection.”

Attorney General Barr also recognized, “Police forces today are far more diverse than they’ve ever been and there are both more black police chiefs and more black officers in the ranks. Although the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police was a shocking event, the fact is that these events are fortunately quite rare. According to statistics compiled by The Washington Post, the number of unarmed black men killed by police so far this year is eight. The number of unarmed white men killed by police over the same period of time is eleven. And the overall numbers of police shootings have been decreasing. Nevertheless, every instance of excessive force is unacceptable and must be addressed appropriately through legal process, as is happening now in Minneapolis.”

Politico then panicked and scrubbed the article!

A group of medical professionals called America’s Frontline Doctors are trying very hard right now to expose a plot to prevent people from having access to hydroxychloroquine, HCQ, which is very effective against the COVID-19 coronavirus, and instead promote a new drug called Remdesivir, from Gilead pharmaceuticals. The cost per dose for HCQ is under $10, the cost per dose for Remdesivir is over $3,000! Do you see where this is going? Do you see why Bill Gates has invested so much money into vaccines and drugs?

If you try accessing the America’s Frontline Doctors site, you will find that it has been removed for vague and unspecified reasons. Right now, a major smear campaign is being waged in the Liberal media to discredit these doctors who are trying to tell Americans the truth. If you are not outraged by this, and outraged by the fact that with over 142,000 COVID deaths that any drug company would be allowed to sell the cure for $3,000 a shot, then you must be Liberal yourself. Day two of their summit is going to kickoff today in front of the US Supreme Court.

The doctors are very concerned with the disinformation campaign being played out in the far left American media today.

On Monday following their very popular event Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Google censored the doctors after they promoted hydroxychloroquine as a life-saving medication in treating the coronavirus.

On Tuesday Dr. James Todaro, M.D. (pictured above) told The Gateway Pundit that the “White Coat Summit” doctors met with Vice President Pence today.

Via James Todaro: “It was a great meeting with VP Mike Pence and his chief of staff where we discussed how we can make hydroxychloroquine available for physicians and patients across the country.”

This is great news.
These are practicing doctors on the front line of the pandemic and they deserve to be heard.

At least one of the doctors wants to push President Trump to make hydroxychloroquine an over the country medication.

John MacArthur provided a strong defense of religious liberty on the Tuesday, July 28, 2020, broadcast of Tucker Carlson Tonight. MacArthur said his church is part of the original protesters—and is protesting against lies and deception.

By the way, we are the original protesters,” MacArthur said. “We go back 500 years to the Protestant Reformation. We are still protesting lies and deception for the sake of the truth.”

MacArthur’s brief interview focused on two grounds for why the church rejected the government order: religious liberty and the low risk of death from COVID in California. He referred viewers to a post for an exploration of the theological issues.

“First of all and foremost, it is a first amendment right,” MacArthur said. “This is the United States of America and the government cannot intrude into worship. We stand on that amendment.”

Next, MacArthur transitioned into an attack on the COVID-19 narrative of fear.

“The second thing that makes this so sensible is that in the State of California there are 40 million people. 8,500 of them have died with COVID. That is .002 (percent),” MacArthur said. “So, in California you have a 99.99 percent chance to survive COVID. So why would you shut down the entire state? Particularly, when people are frightened and sometimes terrified that they are going to die, shutdown the church where most of the intense relationships in our society exist? “We have had 21 weeks with no ministry to a thousand little children, to a thousand university students, to junior high students, to high school students to senior adults,”

MacArthur contrasted the hype of the pandemic against the costs including the spiritual costs. In a revealing and shocking moment, MacArthur revealed the challenge of ministering to the sick during the Pandemic lockdown.

“We’ve had no funerals. No weddings. I can’t go to the hospital. I’ve had to go on the phone to talk to dying people at the hospital,” MacArthur said.

MacArthur then told how the congregation began to spontaneously began reassembling.

“Finally, I started preaching in an empty auditorium. I did it two weeks, three weeks and then the people without saying anything started coming back. They didn’t buy the narrative,” MacArthur said. “They kept coming back and last Sunday 3,000 of them came back and they rejoiced. They hugged each other and they didn’t wear masks and they sang songs. They understand the reality of it.”

July 28 Strength!

 

Ephesians 3:16 niv

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.

From one end of the Bible to the other, we read of God’s strengthening His people. When the Israelites passed through the Red Sea, they praised the Lord, saying: “The Lord is my strength and my song” (Exodus 15:2 niv).

Deuteronomy 33:25 says: “As your days, so shall your strength be.” Nehemiah 8:10 says, “Do not sorrow for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Psalm 27:1 declares, “The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 46:1 avows, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Isaiah said, “Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength” (26:4). Isaiah 40:31 promises that “those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

The apostle Paul told us to “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10). “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” he said in Philippians 4:13.

Throughout the Bible we find a simple formula: When the Word goes in, praise goes up, and faith goes out, God goes forth to strengthen His people.[1]

July 28, 2020 Evening Verse Of The Day

Ver. 10.—He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. This and the next three verses are closely connected with the parable of the unjust steward. Our Lord no doubt continued speaking, and these four verses contain a general rèsumè of what may be called his reflections on the important piece of teaching he had just delivered. We have here the broad rule, upon which God will decide the soul’s future, laid down. If the man has been faithful in his administration of the comparatively unimportant goods of earth, it is clear that he can be entrusted with the far more important things which belong to the world to come. There is, too, in these words a kind of limitation and explanation of the foregoing parable of the unjust steward. The conduct of that steward, regarded in one point of view, was held to be wise, and we, though in a very different way, were advised to imitate it; yet here we are distinctly told that it is fidelity, not unfaithfulness, which will be eventually rewarded—the just, not the unjust steward.[1]


10. He who is faithful in that which is least. Those maxims are proverbs taken from ordinary practice and experience, and it is quite enough if they are generally true. It will sometimes happen, no doubt, that a deceiver, who had disregarded a small gain, shall display his wickedness in a matter of importance. Nay, many persons, by affecting honesty in trifling matters, are only in pursuit of an enormous gain; as that author2 says: “Fraud establishes confidence in itself in small matters, that, when a fit opportunity shall arrive, it may deceive with vast advantage.” And yet the statement of Christ is not inaccurate; for in proverbs, as I have mentioned, we attend only to what usually happens.

Christ, therefore, exhorts his disciples to act faithfully in small matters, in order to prepare themselves for the exercise of fidelity in matters of the highest importance. He next applies this doctrine to the proper stewardship of spiritual graces, which the world, indeed, does not estimate according to their value, but which far surpass, beyond all question, the fading riches of this world. Those persons, he tells us, who act improperly and unfaithfully in things of small value, such as the transitory riches of the world, do not deserve that God should entrust to them the inestimable treasure of the Gospel, and of similar gifts. There is, therefore, in these words an implied threatening, that there is reason to fear lest, on account of our abuse of an earthly stewardship, we fail to obtain heavenly gifts. In this sense, what is true is contrasted with riches, as what is solid and lasting is contrasted with what is shadowy and fading.[2]


10. First the principle is laid down. Faithfulness is no accident: it arises out of what one is through and through. What one does with the small things of life one does also in the big things. Faithfulness or dishonesty appears throughout. Life is a unity.[3]


16:10 “a very little thing” This referred to earthly wealth or stewardship. Humans reveal their character in their daily choices and actions.

“in much” (twice) This refers to heavenly wealth (cf. Matt. 6:19–34).[4]


10. He who is trustworthy in a very small matter is also trustworthy in an important one; and he who is untrustworthy in a very small matter is also untrustworthy in an important one.

It is clear from these words that Jesus did not approve of, did not even excuse, dishonesty, unfaithfulness. If a person can be trusted in handling a matter of small importance, he can also be trusted with important matters; if he cannot be depended on in connection with the first, it would not be safe either to entrust to him the second. Everything depends on the quality of the person’s invisible being, call it his soul or whatever you wish. That soul is not divided.[5]

My soul! look at this man, Eneas: consider his circumstances of bodily sickness, and the long period of eight years in which he had been bedridden. And when thou hast duly pondered the subject, behold the sovereignty of that all-powerful, all-prevailing name of Jesus Christ, though pronounced only by a servant, and see the blessed effects of it. And wilt thou, after such an instance, go lean under any spiritual sickness? Shall it be said, that Jesus Christ cannot make thee whole? Surely thou wouldst tremble at harbouring such a thought, even for a moment! And if thou darest not think such hard things of Christ’s ability, why shouldst thou not equally shudder at supposing thy Lord’s want of inclination? Hast thou not found him gracious in times past? And was that grace the result of thy desert? Was it not the pure effect of his own free love? And ought not past experience to beget future hope? Is not every believer’s life a life of trust and dependence? Go to him, my soul, under every new ailment, as thou wert led to him at first. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever.” Let faith have her full exercise. “Jesus Christ maketh thee whole.” Here rest thy whole confidence. Never go to him in any attempts of thine own; but by a direct act of faith upon his glorious person, power, grace, and compassion; in his strength, and not thy feeling, rest wholly upon him, and plead thy necessities and his glory: and, depend upon it, this plan, which is of the Lord’s own appointing, will bring comfort under all the lameness with which thou art exercised. Remember his own most gracious words: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name; ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:23, 24.)[1]

She hath done what she could: she is came aforehand to anoint My body to the burying.—Mark 14:8.

I IMAGINE when Mary died, if God had sent an angel to write her epitaph, he couldn’t have done better than to put over her grave what Christ said:

“She hath done what she could.”

I would rather have that said over my grave, if it could honestly be said, than to have all the wealth of the Rothschilds. Christ raised a monument to Mary that is more lasting than the monuments raised to Cæsar or Napoleon. Their monuments crumble away, but hers endures. Her name never appeared in print while she was on earth, but to-day it is famous in three hundred and fifty languages.

We may never be great; we may never be known outside our circle of friends; but we may, like Mary, do what we can. May God help each one of us to do what we can! Life will soon be over; it is short at the longest. Let us rise and follow in the footsteps of Mary of Bethany.[1]

Billionaire George Soros Gives Whopping $50M to Help Biden and Other Dems Win US Elections — CBN News feeds

Billionaire George Soros has set a new personal record in his latest attempt to influence US campaigns, reportedly donating more than $50 million for left-wing causes and candidates in the 2020 elections.

The Federal Election Commission shows he funneled $48 million through his own “Democracy PAC” this cycle and donated another $4 million directly to Democratic campaigns – totaling $52 million in contributions.

The Washington Free Beacon reports Soros’ 2020 donations vastly exceeded his previous allocation of $22 million during the last presidential election.

Donations from the Democracy PAC, which Soros created, will fund the Nancy Pelosi-linked House Majority PAC, the Chuck Schumer-tied Senate Majority PAC, Planned Parenthood Votes, and the Sixteen Thirty Fund.

Soros’s contributions include several hundred thousand to the Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund, the Nancy Pelosi Victory Fund, and the Biden Victory Fund.

One GOP worker told the Free Beacon, “George Soros’s unprecedented spending further highlights just how dependent Democrats are on contributions from billionaires, despite their hypocritical rhetoric.”

Soros, 89, said he views the 2020 elections as pivotal, saying the “fate of the world” is at risk.

Soros heavily supports the “vote-by-mail” system which has gained momentum due to COVID shutdowns, and includes “drop boxes inaccessible locations for voters to drop off ballots directly.”

In a vote-by-mail system, voters receive a mail ballot, which is filled out and mailed back to the local registrar of voters.

Critics say the mail-in system benefits the Democratic Party, and Republicans worry about the possibility of voter fraud since mail-in voting is difficult to verify.

The latest attempts at mail-in voting in New York have caused severe delays and confusion in the vote-counting, overloading the election system.

Evangelical, Midwestern, & Southern Churches Are Most Likely to Be Meeting in Person Again — BCNN1 – Black Christian News Network

(RNS) — Which churches have resumed gathering in person amid the coronavirus pandemic?

Mostly evangelical Protestant churches rather than mainline Protestant and, more often, those that are located in the South or Midwest, according to a new survey released Friday (July 24) by LifeWay Research, the research arm of the Southern Baptist Convention.

But even for those churches that have reopened, services likely don’t look like they did before COVID-19 upended everyday life in the United States.

“Resuming in-person worship services has not been reverting to worship as usual,” LifeWay Research Executive Director Scott McConnell said in a written statement.

By theological affiliation, 82% of pastors who identify as evangelical — traditionally, more conservative — said their churches gathered in person for worship last weekend (July 19), compared to 57% of pastors who identify as mainline.

Doctrinally, that shouldn’t make a difference, McConnell told Religion News Service. But many evangelicals also tend to be more politically conservative, and the split falls along political lines as the pandemic has become politicized.

And by region, 78% of pastors in the Midwest and 75% in the South said they met last week in person, compared to 61% in the West and 55% in the Northeast, according to the survey.

Those numbers dropped off this past weekend in the West as California has closed churches and businesses amid a spike in COVID-19 cases across the state, McConnell noted. They’ve remained low in the Northeast, which was hit hard by the pandemic early on and continues to take precautions “very seriously, even though they’re eager to get back to worship as well,” he said.

“I think that fairly well follows just the flow of how this pandemic has gone in the United States, but, given the flare-ups in some places, the churches that reopened have been following in many cases some rigid standards, but, at the same time, is that enough? Those questions I think will increasingly be asked,” McConnell added.

Overall, 71% of all Protestant churches met in person for services last weekend and 73% the weekend before (July 12), according to the LifeWay data.

Those numbers are much higher now than they were during previous LifeWay surveys in April (between 4% and 7%) and May (climbing from 15% to 42% over the course of the month), when many states had issued strict guidance for large group gatherings to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

LifeWay’s numbers are higher than a similar survey by Barna Group, a California-based Christian research firm.

Barna found 49% of church leaders surveyed during the week of July 9 to 14 said they were meeting in their buildings.

LifeWay noted virtually every church meeting indoors (99%) was taking some kind of precautions to keep from spreading the coronavirus. That includes providing hand sanitizer, face masks or gloves (94%); conducting additional cleaning of surfaces (86%); closing seats to maintain distance between congregants (76%); recommending people wear face masks (59%); and requiring masks (35%).

But even as Sunday services resume, most churches are not hosting other activities in person, including children’s ministries (13%), student ministries (23%) and adult Bible studies (29%), according to the LifeWay survey.

LifeWay surveyed 443 Protestant pastors online between July 20 and 22. The survey’s margin of error is plus or minus 5% at 95% confidence, according to its methodology.

“The CDC’s press release also skipped over the inconvenient fact that, just like the deadly state-enforced social isolation they pushed, even if masks do slow down the spread of COVID-19, they still won’t do a thing to decrease the number of people ultimately infected.”

(Michael Thau – RedState)  CDC director Robert Redfield dropped some bombshell news during a talk he gave two weeks ago. But despite its significance, hardly anyone knows about the sickening bit of data he let slip:

“We’re seeing, sadly, far greater suicides now than we are deaths from Covid. We’re seeing far greater deaths from drug overdose, that are above excess, than we had as background, than we are seeing deaths from Covid.”

Let that sink in. Even Redfield admits lockdowns are now killing at least two times the number of Americans as COVID-19.

Dozens of media outlets ran stories on his talk the very same day. But some, like the Washington Post, neglected to even mention this appalling disclosure. Among those that did report that Redfield and Fauci’s cure is now killing at least twice as many Americans as the disease, none made it the focus of their story.
