April 28 Evening Quotes of The Day

Giving to Others Until it Hurts
Luke 3:11; Galatians 6:2

In many cases we may, by the rules of the gospel, be obliged to give to others when we cannot do it without suffering ourselves; as if our neighbor’s difficulties and necessities are much greater than our own, and we see that he is not like to be otherwise relieved, we should be willing to suffer with him and to take part of his burden on ourselves. Else how is that rule of bearing one another’s burdens fulfilled? If we are never obliged to relieve others’ burdens but when we can do it without burdening ourselves, then how do we bear our neighbor’s burdens when we bear no burden at all?

The Human Mind a Forge of Idols
Exodus 20:3–6; Deuteronomy 6:14; Isaiah 44:9–20; Acts 28:6; 1 John 5:21

The human mind is, so to speak, a perpetual forge of idols.

Love Notes and Never Forgetting — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

I keep a running list of love notes.
God’s love notes.

Because unless He keeps telling me He loves me, my human heart stops believing it.
I stop believing it, because I can’t fully comprehend His love.

His love is greater than my mind can wrap itself around and deeper than I can grasp.
So I keep reading His love notes.
Over and over.

Unless I do, His love gets lost in the incomprehensible. And I fail to believe it.

I forget that no one loves me as He does. Not one ounce of hatred exists in His heart toward me. No warm, fuzzy feeling could ever properly express His love.

And my human heart wants it to be warm and fuzzy.
It wants to feel loved. It wants His love to be a feeling.
But it’s greater than that.

His love is a reality of tenderness that acts—that stoops down in His greatness and fills every corner of our existence with His familiarity and presence.

His love is actions on our behalf that we didn’t ask for. And action we don’t deserve.

His love toward us is actions and gifts we will never deserve.
Eternal life.
A place in His family.
Sins forgiven.
Penalty paid.

His love isn’t fleeting circumstances that feel like a warm, fuzzy feeling from Him.
His love will carry us into eternity and keep us there.
His is love we didn’t deserve. He loves us with a love we could never comprehend.

So I keep reading His love notes.
Again and again.

Because unless I do, I forget. Because I don’t understand it.
It’s too high and incomprehensible.
It’s that amazing.

It’s a love He doesn’t want us to forget.

Because unless we are loved by Him, what kind of love would ever be enough?

Unto him that loved us . . . to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:5,6)

Love Notes and Never Forgetting — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

Receiving God’s Love — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

“Jesus got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him”. John 13:4-5

One of the most poignant scenes of scripture is when Jesus kneels to wash the feet of his disciples. While it may be tempting to rush past this event, to hear the words of institution or go with Christ to Gethsemane, we would do well to sit and observe the Lord’s humble action.  John records that in this small action Jesus offered “the full extent of his love.”

Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power.  His time had finally come. Jesus had arrived at the time where his victory and kingship would be revealed. Yet, instead of a thunderous expression of strength and divine might, Jesus silently gets up from the table. In an act of audacious humility, Jesus takes off his outer clothing, wraps a towel around himself, and begins to wash the disciples’ feet.  Just as the divine glory is set aside in the incarnation, here, the glory of Christ’s own humanity, as Rabbi, Messiah, and King, is set aside in service to the disciples. The love of Jesus reaches down to the lowest place of life to redeem and to heal.

What the disciples must have thought as this occurred.  Did they try to gussy themselves up in that moment?  Did Andrew try to pre-emptively wipe off the dust? Did Bartholomew slyly dump water on his feet so they would not be as dirty when Jesus approached?  We know that Peter initially rejected the offering.

Do we attempt to cover the dirt before him who comes to wash us?  Do we ever attempt to mask the hurts, the mistakes, the sins? Like tidying up before the house cleaners come, we sometimes try to cover over the messiness of our lives, lest Jesus see our truest needs.  Yet if we do so, we miss out on the fullness of Christ’s love.  For that lowest of places, that place of deepest need, is the very place where Jesus offers us the fullness of his love.  All that is required of us is to receive.

The Father’s Discipline (Part 2 of 2) – Programs – Truth For Life

Discipline isn’t an enjoyable topic to discuss—and experiencing it is even worse! So why does God discipline us? Listen to Truth For Life with Alistair Begg as we seek deeper understanding and appreciation for the Father’s discipline in our lives.

Grace To You Blog Post – Truly Amazing Grace

Do you see your sin the way God sees it? Do you understand the way you offend your heavenly Father—on a daily basis—through your pride, selfishness, and greed? We’re too familiar with sin to appreciate the depth of our own wretchedness. And even as believers, we can grow complacent when it comes to God’s grace. Only when we see our sin the way God sees it can we truly appreciate the mercy and love He pours out on us.

April 28 – Overflowing blessings | Reformed Perspective

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.” – Psalm 23:5

Scripture reading: Psalm 23:5

The last phrase of this verse might be one that we run past as we recite or read this Psalm. Yet, the truth that our cup runs over is a beautiful one. All Christians, no matter how much they have suffered in their life, can say this phrase, “My cup runs over”. What is pictured for us in this phrase is that in the presence of the victorious king, the people at his table would drink with him and enjoy the spoils of victory. The wine-cup pictured here means so much more than simply enjoying victory. It is the cup of blessing. We are reminded that we get to drink of the cup of blessing because Christ drank the cup of God’s wrath. We are told here that Christ is not stingy with the wine, or with any of the blessings that flow from His heroic victory. The cup of blessing which we are given by Christ is overflowing.

I urge you to think upon your own life. Can you not say that this is true?  No matter how much you have suffered, you can declare this with joy because you have Christ and all the eternal blessings that He gives to you. No one and no thing can take those blessings away from you. As a sure test, to see if you understand and believe just how blessed you are in Christ, ask yourself how joyful and thankful you are. Is the joy of Christ evident in your life?

Suggestions for prayer

Pray that the Lord would fill you with joy as you come to a greater understanding of just how blessed you are in Christ. Pray Christ would use you to infect the rest of His church with that joy and thankfulness.

Rev. James Roosma has been serving at Grace Reformed Church in Kelowna, BC for six years. He and his wife Jeni have been blessed with two children, Elijah and Tabitha, and have one on the way. This daily devotional is also available in a print edition you can buy at Nearer to God Devotional.

April 28 Afternoon Quotes of The Day

“Let Me Attain to Jesus Christ”
Philippians 3:7–11

Let fire and the cross; let the crowds of wild beasts; let tearings, breakings, and dislocations of bones; let cutting off of members; let shatterings of the whole body; and let all the dreadful torments of the devil come upon me: only let me attain to Jesus Christ.

True Peacemakers
Matthew 5:9; James 3:18

They are truly peacemakers who amidst all they suffer in this world maintain peace in soul and body for the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Does Prayer Change God’s Mind? | Ligonier Ministries

Does prayer make any difference? Does it really change anything? Someone once asked me that question, only in a slightly different manner: “Does prayer change God’s mind?” My answer brought storms of protest. I said simply, “No.” Now, if the person had asked me, “Does prayer change things?” I would have answered, “Of course!”

The Bible says there are certain things God has decreed from all eternity. Those things will inevitably come to pass. If you were to pray individually or if you and I were to join forces in prayer or if all the Christians of the world were to pray collectively, it would not change what God, in His hidden counsel, has determined to do. If we decided to pray for Jesus not to return, He still would return. You might ask, though, “Doesn’t the Bible say that if two or three agree on anything, they’ll get it?” Yes, it does, but that passage is talking about church discipline, not prayer requests. So we must take all the biblical teaching on prayer into account and not isolate one passage from the rest. We must approach the matter in light of the whole of Scripture, resisting an atomistic reading. Again, you might ask, “Doesn’t the Bible say from time to time that God repents?” Yes, the Old Testament certainly says so. The book of Jonah tells us that God “repented of ” the judgment He had planned for the people of Nineveh (Jonah 3:10, KJV). In using the concept of repentance here, the Bible is describing God, who is Spirit, in what theologians call “anthropomorphic” language. Obviously the Bible does not mean that God repented in the way we would repent; otherwise, we could rightly assume that God had sinned and therefore would need a savior Himself. What it clearly means is that God removed the threat of judgment from the people. The Hebrew word nacham, translated “repent” in the King James Version, means “comforted” or “eased” in this case. God was comforted and felt at ease that the people had turned from their sin, and therefore He revoked the sentence of judgment He had imposed.

When God hangs His sword of judgment over people’s heads, and they repent and He then withholds His judgment, has He really changed His mind? The mind of God does not change for God does not change. Things change, and they change according to His sovereign will, which He exercises through secondary means and secondary activities. The prayer of His people is one of the means He uses to bring things to pass in this world. So if you ask me whether prayer changes things, I answer with an unhesitating “Yes!”

It is impossible to know how much of human history reflects God’s immediate intervention and how much reveals God working through human agents. Calvin’s favorite example of this was the book of Job. The Sabeans and the Chaldeans had taken Job’s donkeys and camels. Why? Because Satan had stirred their hearts to do so. But why? Because Satan had received permission from God to test Job’s faithfulness in any way he so desired, short of taking Job’s life. Why had God agreed to such a thing? For three reasons: (1) to silence the slander of Satan; (2) to vindicate Himself; and (3) to vindicate Job from the slander of Satan. All of these reasons are perfectly righteous justifications for God’s actions.

By contrast, Satan’s purpose in stirring up these two groups was to cause Job to blaspheme God—an altogether wicked motive. But we notice that Satan did not do something supernatural to accomplish his ends. He chose human agents—the Sabeans and Chaldeans, who were evil by nature—to steal Job’s animals. The Sabeans and Chaldeans were known for their thievery and murderous way of life. Their will was involved, but there was no coercion; God’s purpose was accomplished through their wicked actions.

The Sabeans and Chaldeans were free to choose, but for them, as for us, freedom always means freedom within limits. We must not, however, confuse human freedom and human autonomy. There will always be a conflict between divine sovereignty and human autonomy. There is never a conflict between divine sovereignty and human freedom. The Bible says that man is free, but he is not an autonomous law unto himself.

Suppose the Sabeans and Chaldeans had prayed, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” I’m absolutely certain that Job’s animals still would have been stolen, but not necessarily by the Sabeans and Chaldeans. God might have chosen toanswer their prayer, but He would have used some other agent to steal Job’s animals. There is freedom within limits, and within those limits, our prayers can change things. The Scriptures tell us that Elijah, through prayer, kept the rain from falling. He was not dissuaded from praying by his understanding of divine sovereignty.

No human being has ever had a more profound understanding of divine sovereignty than Jesus. No man ever prayed more fiercely or more effectively. Even in Gethsemane, He requested an option, a different way. When the request was denied, He bowed to the Father’s will. The very reason we pray is because of God’s sovereignty, because we believe that God has it within His power to order things according to His purpose. That is what sovereignty is all about—ordering things according to God’s purpose. So then, does prayer change God’s mind? No. Does prayer change things? Yes, of course. The promise of the Scriptures is that “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16). The problem is that we are not all that righteous. What prayer most often changes is the wickedness and the hardness of our own hearts. That alone would be reason enough to pray, even if none of the other reasons were valid or true.

In a sermon titled “The Most High, a Prayer-Hearing God,” Jonathan Edwards gave two reasons why God requires prayer:

With respect to God, prayer is but a sensible acknowledgement of our dependence on him to his glory. As he hath made all things for his own glory, so he will be glorified and acknowledged by his creatures; and it is fit that he should require this of those who would be subjects of his mercy . . . [it] is a suitable acknowledgement of our dependence on the power and mercy of God for that which we need, and but a suitable honor paid to the great Author and Fountain of all good.

With respect to ourselves, God requires prayer of us . . . Fervent prayer many ways tends to prepare the heart. Hereby is excited a sense of our need . . . whereby the mind is more prepared to prize [his mercy] . . . Our prayer to God may excite in us a suitable sense and consideration of our dependence on God for the mercy we ask, and a suitable exercise of faith in God’s sufficiency, so that we may be prepared to glorify his name when the mercy is received. (The Works of Jonathan Edwards [Carlisle, Pa.: Banner of Truth Trust, 1974], 2:116)

All that God does is for His glory first and for our benefit second. We pray because God commands us to pray, because it glorifies Him, and because it benefits us.

Israel Has No Choice But To Act On Its Own To Stop Iran
White House spokesperson Jen Psaki made it clear last week that the Israelis are wasting their time. When asked if Israeli pleas about the danger to the region if the United States rejoins the 2015 nuclear deal would have any impact on President Joe Biden’s plans, Psaki answered “no.” She went on to say that the Israelis are free to keep “challenging” the administration’s goal of returning to a weak pact that gives Tehran a legal path to a nuclear weapon by the end of the decade, but the best they could hope for is to be “kept abreast” of America’s plans. That contemptuous attitude was of particular significance because the day before the Israeli security officials arrived, news broke about how former Secretary of State John Kerry had shared intelligence with Iran about Israeli covert operations seeking to stop their nuclear program.

China’s Social Credit Scoring System Spreads It’s Reach Into Canada
China’s Orwellian “social credit system” that records the social and financial behaviour of individuals and corporations across China, using a vast surveillance system, has expanded globally, and is now openly operational at the renowned Haidilao hot pot restaurant, in Western Canada. Ryan Pan, a manager with Haidilao Hot Pot in Vancouver confirmed that over 60 surveillance cameras have been installed in the restaurant at the request of the Haidilao corporation, as part of the social credit system in China. He said that the Vancouver location has 30 tables with two cameras assigned to each table.

Pentagon UFO report: They ‘acknowledged the reality,’ whistleblower says
The US government is actually gearing up to share information about the “reality” of UFOs with the public — and not a moment too soon, says the man who claims to have run the Pentagon’s UFO program for 9 years.Former President Donald Trump’s $2.3 trillion appropriation bill for 2021 contained a mandate that the Pentagon and spy agencies must file a report about “unidentified aerial phenomena” or UAP. Most of us just call them flying saucers or UFOs. However, for generations, and for all the wrong reasons, national security bigwigs did not want to release more information to the public, Elizondo claims. “They felt that it made them look inept,” he said. “They felt in some cases that it challenged their philosophical and theological belief systems … They just couldn’t process it.”

Something Huge and Invisible Is Making Nearby Stars Vanish, Scientists Propose
An invisible cosmic behemoth might be tearing apart the closest star cluster to the Sun, leaving one side of the cluster eerily dark and devoid of stars, according to a new study. The culprit may be a dark matter substructure, a relic that contains the mass of 10 million Suns and is made of a mysterious non-luminous substance. The possible presence of this “Galactic lump” was detected in a new map that charts out the enormous extent of the Hyades star cluster, located only 153 light years from Earth, which was published on Wednesday in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics.

Fighter jet in California was on alert to intimidate protesters. Who sent the orders?
A California National Guard fighter jet in Fresno was on standby to help restore order had civil unrest broke out last year, according to a Los Angeles Times story that cites multiple unnamed sources. While the order never came to use the fighter jet to intimidate civilians, the fact that leaders considered that option alarmed guard members, the L.A. Times further reported. “It’s a war machine, not something you use for [suppressing] civil unrest,” a third source told the L.A. Times. “The decibel level alone from an F-15C demonstrating a show of force can break windows, set off car alarms and cause more fear than shouting ‘fire’ in a crowded theater,” Dan Woodside, a retired Guard pilot who has flown the F-15C, told the L.A. Times.

“I’m Really Living The Life Over Here” – Hot Mic Catches Illinois Profs Gloating About Social Justice Infestation In Schools
If you haven’t taken two minutes to listen to the hot mic audio first published by West Cook News, do so. It’s a candid display of how pleased ideologues are about how they have captured the education establishment. The two on the audio are Ralph Martire and Gina Harris, both professors at Roosevelt University in Chicago, and both on the Oak Park and River Forest High School board where the recording was made.
On the tape, Martire says he’s glad Harris is teaching at Roosevelt because she fits in so well, to which she says, “I mean, it’s all social justice. All day, every day I get to talk about all the things I love all the time.”

Is the age of permanent war finally over?
Recent events in the world have given me great hope that we might finally emerge from the century of permanent war. The Great Reset agenda seems to be losing steam and those in charge of implementing it are losing conviction (with the exception, perhaps, of the very top echelon in power). At the same time, the ranks of people who are opposed to it and are willing to take a stand, appear to be swelling. Since the very start of the great pandemic of 2020, something about the public health response didn’t feel right. It was clear from the measures that were enacted and from measures that were not enacted that their purpose had little to do with public health. Instead, they seemed to further a different agenda. Soon we learned that this was all connected to World Economic Forum’s hugely ambitious “Fourth Industrial Revolution” or the Great Reset.

“It’s About To Get Much Worse”: Supply Chains Implode As “Price Doesn’t Even Matter Anymore”
With imports far outpacing retail sales growth, he attributed volumes to inventory restocking. “The restocking is actually affecting the trade even more than growth in demand. That tells me that this will last even longer. Let’s say U.S. consumer demand slows down in Q3 and Q4. That’s not expected, but even if it does, [capacity availability and rates] shouldn’t improve quickly, simply because of the huge restocking demand.”
“Buckle up. The month of May will be the worst people have ever seen,” he predicted. Because some shippers will have to wait in line behind the growing backlog in Asia, he expects “what’s going to happen soon is that some importers won’t even be able to get on the boat. For them, it will almost feel like trade is coming to a halt.”

Despite tension, Turkey stands ready to open new era with US
Turkey is ready to start a new era with the United States despite the tension created by the latter’s president, Joe Biden, who called the 1915 events a genocide, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, vowing that he will discuss all the contentious issues with him in person during their scheduled meeting in mid-June in Brussels.

‘You’ll be swallowed by those people’: Pastor chases out ‘Gestapo’ COVID cops – again!
The pastor of a Christian church in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has, for the second time this month, sent a police-backed government health inspector scurrying after refusing her demands to enter the worship center and “stand in the back” during events there. “I do not cooperate with Gestapo,” he said. “I do not talk to the Nazis. You came in your uniforms like thugs. That’s what you are. Brownshirts of Adolf Hitler. Your are Nazi Gestapo, communists, fascists. I do not cooperate with Nazis. Talk to my lawyer. You are not allowed here, you are not welcome here, and I’m not going to cooperate with Gestapo like you.”

US military ship fires warning shots at IRGC vessels in the Gulf
A US military ship fired warning shots after three vessels from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) came close to it and another American patrol boat in the Gulf, the United States military said on Tuesday, according to Reuters. “The US crews issued multiple warnings via bridge-to-bridge radio and loud-hailer devices, but the IRGCN vessels continued their close range maneuvers,” the military said in a statement quoted by the news agency. “The crew of Firebolt then fired warning shots, and the IRGCN vessels moved away to a safe distance from the US vessels,” the statement added.

In rare rebuke, UAE urges Israel to stop Jerusalem violence
The United Arab Emirates on Monday warned that any moves to change the historic identity of Jerusalem threaten peace, and called on Israel to put an end to violence following the latest clashes between Israelis and Palestinians in the city. The statement was a rare rebuke of Israel by the UAE, which has welcomed tens of thousands of Israeli tourists and signed a slew of deals to strengthen bilateral ties since the administration of President Donald Trump brokered a historic and surprise deal to normalize relations between the two countries some seven months ago.

Petition in NYC calls for parents to marry their children: ‘Be prepared for earthquakes, volcanoes’ warns rabbi
In what may be considered an extreme example of liberal permissiveness, a recent court case petitioned the Manhattan federal court to overturn the existing law in order to permit a parent to marry his/her child. One rabbi warns that the Torah explicitly describes the inevitable outcome of such unions; the Earth will vomit out all its inhabitants in extreme natural catastrophes. If the court rules in favor of the request, it would overturn the current law under which any form of incestuous sexual relations is a third-degree felony

New lawmaker vows: Full Israeli control over Temple Mount
Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir (Religious Zionism) was recently sworn into the Israeli parliament on Monday. During his opening speech, Ben Gvir lamented the hesitancy of the Israeli government to assert full sovereignty over Jerusalem and more specifically; the Temple Mount saying: “I will act to ensure that Israeli control returns to Jerusalem and to the Temple Mount specifically.”

Alternate Chauvin juror admits fear of ‘people coming to my house’
An alternate juror in the Derek Chauvin trial in Minneapolis admitted she feared “people coming to my house if they were not happy with the verdict.” Brooklyn Center resident Lisa Christensen, the Washington Examiner reported, did not suggest that the jury allowed such concerns to impact the verdict of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. But her acknowledgement shows at a minimum that jurors likely were aware of the possibility of violent protesters seeking retribution against jurors.

NASA Is Playing Asteroid Impact Games to See How the World Would React
This week, the 7th IAA Planetary Defense Conference takes place in Vienna, Austria, and it is there where NASA, ESA, JPL, and others will be playing asteroid impact games. Officially called a tabletop exercise, the idea behind this game is to simulate an asteroid impact. More to the point, on April 26, the participants pretended they’ve discovered a potentially dangerous near-Earth object (NEO). During this week, people will pretend to have made more discoveries about this imaginary asteroid and then come up with recommendations and responses.

Netanyahu blinks, finally makes Gantz justice minister
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday finally caved in on his more than month-long opposition to appointing Blue and White leader Benny Gantz as Justice Minister in the current transitional government. Netanyahu’s 180-degree U-turn came only hours before a 3:30 p.m. showdown before the High Court of Justice, where his lawyer had been harshly lectured late Tuesday night for the prime minister’s conduct.

Behind new ‘human rights’ critique of Israel is a push for one state -analysis
New reports slamming Israel for “apartheid” have been driven by a desire to reset the definition of apartheid and redefine Israel, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank as one state. This attempt to shoehorn several different areas, run by three different authorities, into one place is at the heart of new human rights reports about Israel.

Sirens blare as two rockets fired from Gaza fail to enter Israel
Rocket sirens were heard in the Gaza border community of Kissufim early Wednesday morning. The launching of the rockets came after a rise in tensions between Israel and Hamas in recent days. The IDF said that the alarm that sounded in Kissufim was due to two failed rocket launches towards Israel, which fell in an open field in the Gaza Strip.

Brexit: European Parliament backs UK trade deal
The European Parliament has ratified the post-Brexit EU-UK trade deal – a key move to ensure that tariff-and quota-free trade continues. The Trade and Co-operation Agreement (TCA) has been operating provisionally since January. MEPs voted in favour by 660 votes to 5, while 32 abstained. The UK’s chief negotiator, Lord Frost, said the vote “brings certainty and allows us to focus on the future”.

Anger as ex-generals warn of ‘deadly civil war’ in France

Editor’s Note: President Joe Biden will give his first address to a joint session of Congress tonight at 9 Eastern. It’s expected that, among other things, he’ll formally announce his next gargantuan spending boondoggle — $1.8 trillion that reportedly includes new spending on education, child care, and paid leave. He also plans to raise taxes. Remember, this follows $1.9 trillion in not-COVID relief and another pitch for $2.3 trillion in not-infrastructure spending. We’ll have full coverage tomorrow.

Stacey Abrams: Liar and Cheat

The Georgia race-baiter conspired with USA Today to hide the truth about her role in losing the $100 million MLB All-Star Game.

Douglas Andrews

Someone — we’re not sure who — once said that a dog can have ticks and fleas, the point being that the one doesn’t preclude the other. Similarly, Stacey Abrams can be a liar and a cheat.

And, sure enough, she is.

Recall that Abrams soiled herself earlier this month when she pressured Major League Baseball, whose annual All-Star Game was to be played in Atlanta this year, to denounce as racist Georgia’s newly passed voting reform law and to instead support the Democrats’ pro-fraud HR 1 bill, which would loosen and federalize election laws in all 50 states. And recall that Abrams’s pressure campaign backfired, as MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred took his All-Star Game and his $100 million and skedaddled from partisan Atlanta, which is majority-black, to peaceful Denver, which is 76% white. Oops.

Abrams then did what Democrats always do: She blamed Republicans for what she herself was guilty of. “Georgia Republicans,” she tweeted, “must renounce the terrible damage they have caused to our voting system and the harm they have inflicted on our economy.”

It was a diabolical piece of misdirection, and now we’re learning just what lengths she and her mainstream media stooges have gone to in order to cover her dirty tracks. As Fox News’s Joseph Wulfsohn reports, “USA Today is facing intense backlash for allowing prominent Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams to retroactively make changes to a March 31 op-ed that watered-down her support for boycotts after Major League Baseball (MLB) moved its All-Star game out of Atlanta days later.”

Got that? USA Today allowed Abrams to retroactively edit an op-ed in which she’d expressed support for the pro-boycott position that ultimately cost her state $100 million.

Here’s the smoking gun, the self-incriminating passage from Abrams’s original USA Today op-ed: “The impassioned response to the racist, classist bill that is now the law of Georgia is to boycott in order to achieve change. Events hosted by major league baseball, world class soccer, college sports and dozens of Hollywood films hang in the balance. At the same time, activists urge Georgians to swear off of hometown products to express our outrage. Until we hear clear, unequivocal statements that show Georgia-based companies get what’s at stake, I can’t argue with an individual’s choice to opt for their competition.”

“The impassioned response,” wrote Abrams, “is to boycott in order to achieve change.”

But in her surreptitiously revised version, Abrams wrote, “Boycotts invariably cost jobs.” And she wrote, “Instead of a boycott, I strongly urge other events and productions to do business in Georgia and speak out against our law and similar proposals in other states.”

As a liar and a cheater, then, Abrams is in good company with USA Today, a leftist rag with a notoriously biased “fact-check” apparatus. But it’s one thing for a news organ to be biased and another thing entirely for it to be downright deceitful — which USA Today is. As National Review’s Ryan Mills points out, “According to the Internet Archive, Abrams’s piece was updated the afternoon of April 6, but an editor’s note acknowledging the changes wasn’t added for over two weeks, on April 22.”

So USA Today allowed Abrams to edit her piece on the sly until the furor had died down, and only weeks later came clean with a buried note to its readership.

And the media wonder why we call them “Fake News.”

Former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler summed it up pretty well. “Stacey Abrams called for boycotts of Georgia,” she tweeted, “then when the MLB fell for her lies, she tried to rewrite her own words and cover it up with help from USA TODAY. Now, hardworking Georgians are set to lose $100 million — and they know exactly who’s to blame.”

Stacey Abrams, that’s who.

Carville Blasts ‘Wokeness’ as Problem for Dems

Thomas Gallatin

The longtime Democrat political strategist fears that Dems are headed for disaster in 2022.

James Carville is a political animal. Political campaigns are his bread and butter. For the Louisiana Democrat, politics isn’t about standing on principles but advancing into positions of power. And when it comes to reading the political tea leaves, few are better than Carville. So when he expresses fears that Democrats are headed for disaster in the 2022 elections, ears perk up.

In a recently published interview with Leftmedia outlet Vox, Carville issued a blunt warning to his party. “Wokeness is a problem and everyone knows it,” he said. “It’s hard to talk to anybody today — and I talk to lots of people in the Democrat Party — who doesn’t say this. But they don’t want to say it out loud.” When queried as to why Democrats don’t want talk about “wokeness,” Carville answered, “Because they’ll get clobbered or canceled.” The politics of personal destruction is all fun and games until you’re the target, eh, James?

Now, if one thinks Carville is suggesting that Democrats should just stick a fork in their 2022 chances, then one would be wrong. Carville clearly is seeking to warn the Democrats to work on their public image, not to change their political direction. “Lots of smart people are going to read [this interview], and hopefully they can figure out that which I can’t,” he explained. “But if you’re asking me, I think it’s because large parts of the country view us as an urban, coastal, arrogant party, and a lot gets passed through that filter. That’s a real thing. I don’t give a damn what anyone thinks about it — it’s a real phenomenon, and it’s damaging to the party brand.”

Arguing that messaging is the root of the Democrats’ problem, he observes, “Maybe tweeting that we should abolish the police isn’t the smartest thing to do because almost f—king no one wants to do that. Here’s the deal: No matter how you look at the map, the only way Democrats can hold power is to build on their coalition, and that will have to include more rural white voters from across the country. Democrats are never going to win a majority of these voters. That’s the reality. But the difference between getting beat 80 to 20 and 72 to 28 is all the difference in the world.”

So, what’s Carville’s goal here? As Power Line’s Steven Hayward surmises, “Carville may be trying to be clever or tactical, by creating some artificial daylight between Biden and the insanity gripping his party.” In other words, Carville is attempting to distance Biden from the craziness that is today’s Democrat Party. Will it work? Well, spinning fictions is what the Democrats have been perfecting for decades, yet by his own record, Biden has demonstrated himself to be the most leftist president this nation has ever witnessed. That truth is hard to hide.

Four Pinocchios for The Washington Post

Just 100 days into Biden’s term, the “fact-checker” is quitting its database of his lies.

Nate Jackson

In 2013, Jeff Bezos, a charter member of the “Archenemies of Liberty Club” and the world’s richest man, bought a struggling Leftmedia rag known as The Washington Post. While the Post was clearly already a bastion of leftism in the mainstream media, since Bezos took over — and even more so since Donald Trump ran for president — we’ve noted a marked hard-left turn in the Post’s coverage and tone. Indeed, less than a month after Trump took office in 2017 and for the first time in its history, the Post adopted a motto: the pretentious “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”

With all that background comes news that the Post is already going to let its database of President Joe Biden’s lies fade into darkness. “We do not plan to extend [it] beyond 100 days,” announced the Post’s chief “fact-checker” Glenn Kessler, who claims to have “learned my lesson” about the man hours required — “400 additional 8-hour days over four years beyond our regular jobs for three people.”

“We’ve been comparing Biden (67 false or misleading claims) to Trump’s first 100 days (511 claims.),” he added. “But past is no prologue. In the last 100 days before the 2020 election, we counted 8,859 claims made by Trump. It was a wild ride.” He then explained, “Biden is off to a relatively slow start but who knows what will happen. We will keep doing fact checks, just not a database.” Sure thing. Wink.

We’ll grant that Trump is a braggart and a blowhard who is far from accurate with his words. But the idea that every one of the Post’s “gotcha” claims was actually a Trump lie is as preposterous as the notion that Biden hardly ever lies by comparison. The Post’s partisan “fact-checkers” simultaneously created work for themselves with dishonest hackery and then Kessler has the chutzpah to claim victim status for having been overworked. The Post didn’t just run the database, by the way. It regularly trumpeted it on its website home page, which was an obvious bid to generate traffic and ad revenue. Bezos is a businessman, after all.

More importantly, Biden is a shameless liar in ways that would make Trump blush.

The biggest difference between the two men entirely eludes the sages at the Post. Biden, like virtually every Democrat, lies in order to deceive about his real designs. Democrats know that honestly revealing their plans would often chase voters away, so Biden instead waxes eloquent about “unity” in his Inaugural Address and then proceeds to enact an agenda so radically left that even Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is proud of it.

On the other hand, generally speaking, Trump exaggerated and hyperbolized on the way to conveying an underlying truth. Whether he was specifically accurate or not, he was usually right about the bigger story. We certainly wish he’d been more precise and humble, but bluster is a long way from what Biden’s doing.

The Post seems to have a new strategy with Biden. Remember that time Kessler “fact-checked” Biden’s vaccine lie as merely “a verbal stumble, a typical Biden gaffe”? Trump certainly never got that kind of deference, but treating Biden as non compos mentis is the easiest way around his dishonesty.

Clearly, dumping the Biden database is a decision with both ideological and marketing components. The Post can’t support Biden by actually holding him accountable, and its readers don’t want it to anyway. Besides, we suppose Kessler can always use his newfound free time to keep doing things like phony “fact-checks” about how black Republican Senator Tim Scott isn’t quite black enough for a white Beltway politico.

Double the Capital Gains Tax to Crush the Economy

Joe Biden’s proposal is just the latest terrible idea coming from an extreme-left administration.

Louis DeBroux

If further proof were needed that supposedly moderate Joe Biden is every bit the leftist ideologue as “the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean” under whom he served as vice president, look no further than the trial balloon Biden floated to nearly double the capital gains tax.

In 2008, during a primary debate with Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama proposed increasing the capital gains tax, even when history shows that increasing it results in a decrease in federal revenues. So why do it? “For purposes of fairness,” Obama said.

At the time, Obama said he would not go higher than the Clinton-era rate of 28%, yet Biden floated nearly doubling the current rate of 23.8% (including a 3.8% ObamaCare surcharge) to a staggering 43.4%. How do you like that “fairness”?

Yet whether for purposes of fairness or raising revenue, a capital gains tax rate increase is counterproductive. For one thing, as a revenue-raiser, the capital gains tax rate fails miserably.

None other than former Democrat President John F. Kennedy warned, “The tax on capital gains directly affects investment decisions, the mobility and flow of risk capital from static to more dynamic situations, the ease or difficulty experienced by new ventures in obtaining capital, and thereby the strength and potential for growth of the economy.”

In other words, a high tax rate on capital gains changes the decision-making process of investors from creating wealth (and therefore jobs and increased wages) to minimizing the punitive effect of taxation. As a result, the proverbial national economic pie shrinks, jobs are lost, and wages shrivel. Such taxes also discourage savings and investment, which also hurts economic growth.

Former Federal Reserve Governor Larry Lindsey argues the revenue-maximizing rate for capital gains is around 28%. Other economists argue for a much lower rate. But no sane person argues for a rate in excess of 40%.

Leftist Democrats argue that the lower rate for capital gains, when compared to the individual income tax rate, is an unfair loophole that needs to be closed. That is not remotely true.

Under current tax law, capital gains from investments are fully taxed, but only a portion of losses are deductible. And since asset values are not indexed to inflation, investors are penalized by paying taxes on asset values that partly exist only on paper.

Additionally, the capital gains tax is a double tax on corporate income. The federal government taxes business profits when they’re earned, and Biden wants a 33% increase in the corporate income tax. Then, when businesses issue income on dividends, or an investor sells shares that have appreciated, the federal government hits them with a second tax.

Of course, as we’ve written before, corporations don’t pay taxes. Individuals do.

Maybe that’s why Congressman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), who represents part of the uber-wealthy Manhattan enclave, inadvertently makes the argument against such double taxation when calling for a repeal of the SALT deduction limit. That limit, which was part of the 2017 Republican tax reform, has been painful for big-spending, high-tax states like New York, New Jersey, and California, where combined state and local tax (SALT) rates are already high and could exceed 55% under Biden’s plan.

“No one should ever be taxed twice on the same income,” Nadler declared. “It’s not fair and it’s not just.”

Really, Jerry? Like when you work your tail off as a small business owner, pay business taxes, and pay yourself a salary with what’s left, which is then subject to federal, state, and local taxes? Then, when you go to purchase a car, or just a hamburger, you have to pay a sales tax on that as well. You get to do this for 50 or 60 years, and when you die, the government takes nearly half of your estate through the death tax, and only then gives whatever’s left to your children. Is that fair?

Make no mistake, a repeal in the SALT deduction limits benefits only the very wealthy. According to the liberal Brookings Institute, were the SALT deduction limit to be repealed, 96% of the benefits would go to the top 20% of income earners, with the top 1% seeing 57% of the benefits.

Of course, this does provide for some great entertainment, as Democrat politicians try to spin their preferential tax treatment for the rich as somehow helping the little guy.

In reality, America doesn’t have a taxing problem; it has a spending problem. Politicians like Joe Biden and Jerry Nadler increase spending as a way of buying votes, then increase taxes to (partially) offset the new spending. It’s a vicious cycle that makes everyone poorer — except the politicians and their big donors who pay them to create tax loopholes.

Ted Wheeler Gets Mugged by Reality

The hometown antifa mob has given Portland a black eye, but the city’s hard-left mayor may have finally had enough.

Douglas Andrews

Antifa, that figment of right-wing fever dreams, may have finally found a believer in hard-left Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler.

You remember antifa. It’s the black-clad, Portland-based anarchist mob that New York Congressman Jerrold Nadler famously dismissed as “a myth that’s being spread only in Washington, DC.”

A “myth,” Jerry? Try telling that to Ted Wheeler.

As The Wall Street Journal editorial board reports, “A well-known politician on Friday denounced ‘self-described anarchists who engage in regular criminal destruction’ and want to ‘burn,’ ‘bash’ and ‘intimidate.’ He called for ‘higher bail’ and ‘tougher pretrial restrictions’ on rioters. And he pleaded with the public to cooperate with police and identify miscreants: ‘Our job is to unmask them, arrest them, and prosecute them.’ Donald Trump? Sheriff Arpaio? Nope. That was Portland, Ore., Mayor Ted Wheeler, the über-progressive, who made a national reputation last year by apologizing for vandals and rioters he said were merely exercising their right to protest against an unjust America.”

All this is a humiliating flip-flop for the guy who enabled antifa to engage in a nearly year-long orgy of nonstop rioting, and the guy who last June vowed to defund his city’s police force. As The Oregonian’s Everton Bailey Jr. reported at the time, “Wheeler pledged the city will divert $12 million from the police bureau and other city departments to directly support communities of color, defund three police units including the gun violence reduction team and ban officers from using chokeholds as part of plans to reform the Portland Police Bureau.”

Wheeler, who’s also — get this — the city’s police commissioner, said, “My privilege as a white man, my privilege as the mayor and the leader of the institutions of power in this community I believe shielded me from time to time from the many difficult and uncomfortable truths about our history and about our society.”

Clearly, that mea culpa wasn’t good enough for antifa. Nor, we think, was it properly directed. Wheeler seemed to be trying to atone to the city’s black residents for his white privilege, but last time we checked, antifa was as lily-white as Wheeler.

In any case, as the Journal reports, unbridled antifa rioters “shot fireworks at law enforcement, firebombed government buildings, and set fire to cop cars and a police union hall” — all while the milquetoast mayor carried on like a modern-day Neville Chamberlain.

And now, he’s crying uncle. Yep, the guy who slashed $27 million from the city’s 2021 police funding, the guy who called Donald Trump’s decision to send in federal forces to quell the rioting last July “an attack on our democracy,” has finally been mugged by reality. He’s now begging for the citizens of Portland to start ratting out that mob he’s been trying to appease these many months.

As The Daily Wire’s Emily Zanotti reports, “Wheeler extended a city-wide state of emergency and begged for Portland residents to assist law enforcement in ‘unmasking’ and identifying members of the ‘self-described anarchist mob’ that have rioted through the city nearly every night since last May.”

Wheeler, it seems, has learned a valuable lesson in human nature: Weakness is provocative. Better late than never.

And who knows? Maybe Wheeler’s wisdom will wind its way north to Seattle, where the people clearly want law and order, and where feckless Mayor Jenny Durkan seems to be holding out hope for that Summer of Love.

Total Recall, Starring a California Governor

Over 1.6 million valid signatures were collected in the effort to recall Gavin Newsom, and the GOP has an outside shot.

Thomas Gallatin

Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in the 1990 flick “Total Recall” before winning election as California’s governor in 2003, when then-Governor Gray Davis was recalled. But he’s not the governor currently facing a recall.

The needed signatures are in, and then some. Evidently, enough Californians have had their fill of Governor Gavin Newsom’s heavy-handed crackdown on their rights throughout the coronavirus pandemic. The Washington Examiner reports, “More than 1,626,000 verified signatures were collected … which is more than 100,000 above what is needed to force a recount.” After Democrats fought to have rigorous signature verification in place, Mark Alexander quipped, “Apparently, when it comes to Democrat recalls, certification of signatures matters.”

On the subject of voter verification, a recent Fox News poll found that on the question of valid photo ID being required to prove U.S. citizenship before voting, an overwhelming 77% approve. But we digress.

Back in the Golden State, there’s an outside chance the recall won’t happen if a “sufficient number of signatures are withdrawn,” explained California Secretary of State Shirley Weber. That’s not likely to happen, despite Newsom’s sudden change of heart earlier this month when he announced his intention to fully reopen the state by June 15.

Of course, even with a recall election, Newsom still has a good shot at retaining his seat. Recent polling indicates that 56% of the state’s residents oppose the recall. The question is, can Newsom energize enough of these voters to come out and vote against recall? Since no prominent Democrat has stepped up to oppose Newsom in a state that leans heavily Democrat, the probability that voters reject recall seems in Newsom’s favor.

However, should voters favor recall, the list of presumable Republican favorites lining up includes Kevin Faulconer, San Diego’s former mayor; San Diego businessman John Cox, who previously ran against Newsom; and (because it’s California) “transgender” activist Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner.

One final takeaway. Note that none of the Republican governors who opted to reopen early and to maintain as few restrictions as possible is facing serious recall efforts. In fact, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has only seen his popularity rise due to his handling of the pandemic.

“Biden will present the American Families Plan during his first presidential report to Congress Wednesday as the second installment of his infrastructure-plus legislative priority. Along with the American Jobs Plan, both proposals form his $4 trillion ‘Build Back Better’ agenda introduced after the passage of the American Rescue Plan. But Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ agenda faces an unfriendly Congress. Despite Democratic majorities, the party and its independent allies only have 51 votes in the Senate, when the tiebreaking vote of Vice President Kamala Harris is included. That is shy of the 60 votes needed to end debate and avoid a filibuster. The process of reconciliation could be relied on to pass a bill without Republicans, but its provisions have to affect the federal budget. The Biden administration hinted Tuesday it is not as amenable to negotiations regarding the American Families Plan as it is on the American Jobs Plan.”

Insight: “I may not agree with what you say, but to the death I will defend your right to say it.” —Voltaire (1694-1778)

Observations: “Leftism has always been a secular religion. It kills traditional religion and presents itself as a secular alternative. It certainly provides meaning. ‘Anti-racism’ and saving the world from a threat to its very existence (global warming) are two prominent life-filling examples. Therefore, the only way to prevent the left from destroying America and its core value of freedom is to make the case for Judeo-Christian religions, the importance of marriage and family, and the unique achievement of America as the world’s first and greatest multiracial, multiethnic, multinational society. Americans should have been making that case in every generation. Post-World War II, they forgot, or never really believed, that the land of the free is, as former President Ronald Reagan warned, always just one generation away from losing its freedom.” —Dennis Prager

Re: The Left: “There is something wretched about rich, college-educated ‘humanitarians’ pontificating about the sacrifices that must be made to stop global warming, but then they come up with plans that make other people — often who make far less money than they do — suffer all the pain. If climate change meant every college professor, media personality and million-dollar donor to the Environmental Defense Fund had to lose their livelihoods, I doubt they would be so supportive of this green economic ‘transformation.’” —Stephen Moore

For the record: “Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) estimates that approximately 10% of military personnel — or as many as 250,000 troops — may be white supremacists. While Sen. Blumenthal is slandering our men and women in uniform, it’s worth remembering that he lied about his military service in Vietnam. Last week, Admiral Charles Richard, commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, and General James Dickinson, commander of the U.S. Space Command, testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee. When pressed about the number of extremists in the military, it must have come as a shock to Sen. Blumenthal that both men said there were ‘zero’ extremists in their commands. Instead of worrying about getting non-existent extremists out of the military, maybe there should be more focus on getting provable liars out of the United States Senate!” —Gary Bauer

Non compos mentis: “The president’s view is that bringing the country together is bringing the American people together. So, when I say … he is focused on bringing … Democrats and Republicans together, he’s not talking about solving bipartisanship in … this zip code here.” —White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki

Saying the quiet part out loud: “[Kamala Harris’s] focus is not on the border.” —Jen Psaki

Race bait: “Kids are finally returning to school. But most of them are white.” —Politico headline

And last… “I’m not sure if we need police reform so much as we need media reform because it’s been a decade of the media really telling lies about the state of policing in this country.” —Mollie Hemingway

Republicans Demand Investigation, Resignation of John Kerry for Leaking Secrets/Covert Ops to Iran | Geller Report

Kerry should be hung in the public square for treason. But nothing will happen. Democrats are above the law in post-America.

Republicans Demand Investigation, Resignation of John Kerry for Allegedly Leaking Secrets to Iran

Key members of the GOP are calling for either an investigation or resignation following reports of former U.S. Secretary of State and current Climate Czar John Kerry leaking information about covert Israeli military operations to Iran.

According to tapes obtained by the London-based Iran International and subsequently leaked to the New York Times, Kerry, who served as secretary of state for former President Barack Obama, reportedly told Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif about Israeli military operations in Syria. The revelation reportedly came to the “astonishment” of Zarif, who worked closely with Kerry on the infamous Iran Nuclear Deal.

Ned Price, a spokesperson at the State Department, told reporters that he couldn’t speak to the “authenticity,” “accuracy,” or “any motives” behind the dissemination of the tape, as it is “purportedly leaked material.”

“I would just make the broad point that if you go back and look at press reporting from the time, this certainly was not secret, and governments that were involved were speaking to this publicly on the record,” he added.

Key members of the GOP, however, are calling for action.

“If this tape is verified, it would signal catastrophic and disqualifying recklessness by Envoy Kerry to Foreign Minister Zarif that endangered the safety of Americans and our allies,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told the Daily Wire.

“And it would be consistent with his long pattern of empowering Iran’s regime,” he continued, noting Kerry:

poured hundreds of billions of dollars into the Ayatollah’s terrorist bank accounts, was a close confidant with Zarif during the Obama administration, and was caught repeatedly meeting with him during the Trump administration (notwithstanding the Logan Act) — and has never publicly accounted for what they discussed.

Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) took it a step further, calling for Kerry’s resignation.

“Enough is enough,” Sullivan said on the Senate floor:

The red line that was crossed, if this was true, revealing secret information to one of America’s most sworn enemies with the blood of thousands of American military members on its hands, undermining the interests of one of our most important allies, the state of Israel — if this is true, John Kerry needs to go. He should resign or he should get fired by the president of the United States.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the revelation confirmed “what I’ve said for years: That [Zarif] continued to engage with former secretary of state Kerry on policy matters after Kerry’s public service and, according to Zarif, Kerry informed the Iranians of Israeli operations.”

“Before we cut a deal with Iran that reduces Americans’ security, it would be good to know what the arrangement, if any, may have been between these two leaders,” he added.

LAUGHABLE: Hunter Biden To Teach Class On ‘Fake News’ At Tulane University | American Lookout

Hunter Biden is reportedly going to teach a class at Tulane University on fake news.

This is especially ironic for at least two reasons.

First, Hunter Biden has no experience working in media. Second, Hunter Biden has directly benefited from liberal media claims of fake news.

Before the 2020 election, the New York Post was targeted by Twitter and liberal media outlets for reporting on the infamous Hunter Biden laptop.

Breitbart News reports:

Report: Hunter Biden to Guest Teach Tulane University Class on ‘Fake News’ this Fall

President Joe Biden’s son Hunter, who has no media or professional teaching background beyond publicly touting his ability to cook crack with ease and his experience with the drug, will help guide a “media polarization” class at Tulane University this fall, the Daily Mail revealed Monday.

Hunter will serve as a guest professor despite having no media background other than being the subject of numerous news reports about his lucrative business dealings overseas and drug-addled lifestyle.

Amid the presidential election last year, Big Tech companies such as Google, Facebook, and Twitter, and Democrat-allied mainstream media outlets also attempted to cover up an explosive story from the New York Post about the contents of a laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, Tulane University, attended by Andrew Breitbart, confirmed that Hunter would be one of several guest speakers helping to teach the course titled “Media Polarization and Public Policy Impact.”

“America’s rapidly advancing partisan divide is fueled substantially by the growing political polarization increasingly evident in our news media,” a syllabus obtained by the news outlet noted in describing the class.

This is beyond parody.

It’s like we’re living in Bizarro World.

“It’s An Act Of War” – Texas Counties Declare Disaster Over Border Crisis | ZeroHedge News

Authored by Charlotte Cuthbertson via The Epoch Times,

A Honduran woman’s body was found dumped in the brush on private property in Goliad County, Texas, after she had been smuggled hundreds of miles north from the border in March, according to county Sheriff Roy Boyd. In another case, an old shed on a ranch was being used to strip stolen vehicles in preparation for smuggling people.

Seven illegal aliens and a driver are apprehended in La Salle County, Texas, on April 24, 2021. (La Salle County Sheriff’s Office)

Boyd says the county—which sits about 200 miles north of the U.S.–Mexico border—is used as a staging area for smuggling illegal aliens to Houston.

“What happens is they’ll bring them up from the border to somewhere in this area. They’ll drop them off at a temporary holding site and then someone from Houston comes and picks them up and then takes them to Houston, where they’re distributed across the United States,” he said.

Goliad County, with a population of 7,600, is one of four Texas counties that issued local states of disaster last week due to the impact of the border surge. Three of the counties are located 40 to 200 miles north of the border but are dealing with cross-border crime and human smuggling every day.

In their declarations, each of the counties—Kinney, Goliad, La Salle, and Atascosa—said the “health, life, and property” of their residents are “under imminent threat of disaster from the human trafficking occurring on our border with Mexico.”

Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 76,000 illegal aliens along the U.S.–Mexico border in the first two weeks of April. In addition, the average number of illegal aliens who evade capture is about 1,000 per day.

The ongoing border crisis has resulted in thousands of illegal aliens invading South Texas and overwhelming our local, state, and federal law enforcement,” the Goliad County declaration reads.

“This continual violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity has resulted in residents of South Texas being assaulted, threatened with violence, and robbed, while also sustaining vast amounts of property damage.”

The declarations request that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott deploy additional law enforcement personnel and state military forces to help control the situation.

Goliad County Judge Mike Bennett, who signed his county’s declaration, said he expects 200 or more of Texas’s 254 counties to follow suit.

“We don’t have a lot of redundancy in these small counties and it’s taking up every bit of their resources,” Bennett said during a public meeting in Westache on April 22.

“This needs to be addressed at the source—which is our border—and that’s what we’re hoping our governor will do.”

On April 26, Abbott asked county judges to send him a “full and accurate” estimate of the fiscal impact on their county so he can bill the federal government for costs incurred.

Boyd said he’s been dealing with border issues since 2005.

“I’ve never seen anything quite like this,” he said at the public meeting. “Things pretty much started drying up on the border during the last administration. Things were pretty much under control.

“Well, that came to a real fast end, and it’s the Wild West on steroids.”

Boyd asked locals to check their land for signs of illegal activity, including discarded water bottles, campfire remnants, and large amounts of trash.

“If we’re not going to do something about any of this, then we’re not a nation,” he said.

“I’d much rather see the federal government get off their duff and do something about this, but, I’m sorry, I have no faith. It’s going to have to come from the state of Texas. If the state doesn’t do something, it’s all going to be over.”

Short on Resources

Kinney County, which started the ball rolling on the disaster declarations, is the only one of the four counties that’s situated on the international border. The county is a direct smuggling route from Del Rio to San Antonio.

Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe said he has six full-time deputies to cover 1,400 square miles.

“We can’t do it,” he said.

“My guys have been in more pursuits in the past year than most police officers will do in a lifetime. We’re catching more and more every day. We file charges, [then] we have to let them go because our jails are full.”

On April 23, the sheriff’s office posted a message on its Facebook page: “In less than 18 hours, Kinney County Sheriff’s Deputies have encountered 5 human trafficking cases and 1 stolen vehicle.”

Kinney County attorney Brent Smith said Texas should act on its own accord to enforce its border with Mexico.

“It is my opinion that an emergency declaration by Governor Abbott or the Texas Legislature would authorize Texas to take certain steps in the enforcement of its own borders and the protection of its citizens’ health, safety, and welfare,” Smith wrote in The 830 Times on April 8.

Newly elected Lavaca County Judge Mark Myers also spoke at the public meeting, despite his county not declaring a disaster. His county sits between the border and Houston.

Since January, within the county, more than 13 pickup trucks have been stolen, and seven high-speed pursuits ended in crashes. Three illegal aliens have been airlifted to hospitals.

“This all costs taxpayer money, because illegal aliens don’t pay that bill—you do,” Myers said, adding that it costs $40,000 to airlift an injured person.

“This is not a sustainable future. We cannot do this.”

Myers encouraged the 400 to 500  participants at the meeting to “flood the telephone network” of state representatives in Austin.

“The governor needs to act on this, and he needs to treat it as what it is, which is an invasion of our nation. This is an act of war,” Myers said.

Yet Another Hillsong Pastor Resigns After Yet Another Sex Scandal — Reformation Charlotte

Hillsong Church–a scandal-plagued megachurch corporation based in Sydney Australia with campuses all over the United States and the world–has been hit with yet another sex scandal. And, we’re not talking about the most recent sex scandal involving NYC’s Carl Lentz.

The global organization is a popular, worldly organization that masquerades as a church but attracts celebrities and carnal-minded people who would rather not have to deal with the “mundane,” such as biblical theology and actual Christian teaching, and would rather just be entertained.

This attracts scandalous leaders who, instead of teaching the Word of God and leading a flock of Christians, entertain the goats and drop like flies amid their scandals, affairs, and carnality.

Last year, Hillsong NYC hit one of its most memorable scandals of its history–and there have been many–after its lead pastor, Carl Lentz admitted to having a sexual affair with a Muslim woman while leading the church. Lentz was subsequently fired from his role which sparked a string of structural changes within the organization, including the CEO, Brian Houston, who stepped down as top leader after admitted he dropped the ball on dealing with NYC’s scandals.

And besides just sex scandals, they’re plagued with financial scandals, theft scandals, and, worst scandals of all, cult-like activity and false gospels.

It must be embarrassing to preside over Hillsong–which could be why he’s stepping down from his leadership role.
