The Test of Your Faith — The Fight of Faith

What is God doing when he tests our faith? Why is it necessary that our faith be tested? What are some of the ways he tests our faith? How are we to respond in times of testing? I recently had the privilege of preaching a sermon called, The Test of Your Faith at Bethel Grace Baptist Church. In it we covered 1 Peter 1:3-9 where we looked deeply at all these questions. This was one of those sermons were it seemed like the Holy Spirit took over as I preached. I pray it will both challenge and encourage you. The video versions is available on YouTube.

The audio version is also available on Spotify

In 1 Peter, the letter’s audience was a group of people who had to flee for their lives from Jerusalem because the persecution they were facing for following Jesus was so intense. They had lost jobs, homes, and even some of their closest family members had disowned them. In writing this letter, Peter reminds them of the hope and joy they have in Jesus, and even though they had lost earthly possessions and relationships, they still possess something better. What they were facing was a test of faith, which God was working to his praise and glory and their joy.

The Faith (1 Peter 1:3-5)

The Test (1 Peter 1:6)

The Result (1 Peter 1:7-9)

  • Was there anything particular in this passage or sermon that ministered to you?
  • Has there ever been a time when you felt your faith was being tested? What was it like, and what kind of pressures were you feeling at the time?
  • In 1 Peter 1:3, Peter tells us we have been born again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead? What are some of the implications of that truth?
  • In 1 Peter 1:6, it says, “if necessary,” you have been grieved by various trials. What are the theological implications we can draw from those words?
  • In 1 Peter 1:6, why do you think Peter thought it was important to add the word “grieved” instead of just saying, you will face various trials? How does it encourage you that he included that word?
  • The testing of gold often does two things, it reveals the quality of the metal and improves its preciousness. How is a test of faith similar?
  • Read 1 Peter 5:6-11. How does this passage encourage you to live differently in the future?

The Believer’s Supreme Act of Spiritual Worship – Part 4 — Possessing the Treasure

by Mike Ratliff

Romans 12:1-2 (NA28)

1 Therefore, I urge you brothers through the compassions of God to present your bodies as living, holy sacrifices, well pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service. Colossians 3:16 (NASB) 2 And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may discern the will of God, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:1-2 (translated from the NA28 Greek text)

In our last post, The Believer’s Supreme Act of Spiritual Worship – Part 3, we looked at Romans 12:2a, which says, “And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind“. We learned that genuine believers give their souls to God at salvation and their bodies to to God as living, holy sacrifices as genuine acts of worship, as our priestly self-sacrifice and they give their minds to Him as the third element of our priestly self-sacrifice is giving our minds to God as an act of worship. In this post we will look at Romans 12:2b, which says, “that you may discern the will of God, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.” This implied fourth element of our priestly self-sacrifice is giving our wills to God as an act of worship.

It is an implied fourth element of presenting ourselves to God as living, holy sacrifices that is well pleasing to God because Paul is telling us that in this process of His Spirit through His Word renewing our minds we are submitting to God conforming our wills to the will of God.

The Greek construction makes that you may discern a purpose/result phrase. That means, when a believer’s mind is transformed, his thinking ability, moral reasons, and spiritual understanding are able to properly assess everything, and to accept only what conforms to the will of God, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.

In v1 we have the sacrifice of our bodies that are well pleasing to God. In v2 we have conforming to the will of God as well pleasing to Him. In both cases this the Greek adjective εὐάρεστον (euareston) the nominative case of εὐάρεστος (euarestos). Some Bible translations render this as “acceptable.” Paul is again borrowing from Old Testament sacrificial language to describe the kind of holy living that God approves, a “living sacrifice” that is morally and spiritually spotless and without blemish.

Perfect carries the idea of being completely, of something’s bing everything it should be. Our wills should desire only what God desire and lead us to do only what He wants us to din the way He wants us to do it–according to His will and by His power. Our imperfect will must always be subject to His perfect will. I confess that I pray for this to be a reality in my life every day, but, of course, I am a work in progress as I am sure you are as well. So, let us continue to submit to the transforming process and become conformed to the will of God more and more as He changes us.

A transformed mind produces and transformed will, by which we become eager and able, with the Spirit’s help, to lay aside our own plans and to trustingly accept God’s, no matter what the cost. This continued yielding involves the strong desire to know God better and to comprehend and follow His purpose fo our lives.

The product of a transformed mind is a life that does the things God has declared to be righteous, fitting, and complete. That is the goal of the supreme act of spiritual worship.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Our King Controls the Controllers — HeadHeartHand Blog

Control freaks are common freaks. To put it another way, control freaks are not so freakish. ‘Freak’ usually means unusual, rare, exceptional. When therefore we say someone is a ‘control freak.’ we’re saying they have an unusual and extraordinary determination to control everyone and everything in every situation.

Some do this actively and some do it passively, but we all do it to some degree. We try to control or micromanage our environment, our emotions, our surroundings, our relationships, and it all eventually overwhelms and exhausts us. ‘Controlitis’ is rooted in the fear of the unpredictable or the fear of being at the mercy of unpredictable people. It’s often a reaction to the fear of losing control and can be related to a time in life when we suffered abuse, neglect, trauma, disruption, or chaos in childhood.

COVID-19 will only multiply controlitis because there’s never been a time when we’ve been so out of control. Work, school, sports, church, are all out of our control. It doesn’t help when Chinese rockets are falling out of the sky! Who is in control? (Daniel 11).

May 9 Evening Quotes of The Day

Real Christianity Most Excellent When Under Trial
Job 23:10; Psalm 66:10; Proverbs 17:3; 27:21; Isaiah 48:10; Zechariah 13:9; 1 Peter 1:7

True virtue never appears so lovely as when it is most oppressed, and the divine excellency of real Christianity is never exhibited with such advantage as when under the greatest trials.

Coverdale’s Advice for Understanding Scripture
Luke 24:27, 45; 2 Peter 1:20; 3:16

It shall greatly help you to understand scripture, if you mark not only what is spoken or written, but of whom, and unto whom, with what words, at what time, where, to what intent, with what circumstance, considering what goes before, and what follows after.

May 9 Evening Verse of The Day

2:7 Reminiscent of thanksgiving songs in the Psalms (Pss 18; 30), Jonah tells the story of answered prayer (see also Jnh 2:1–2).[1]

2:7 I remembered the Lord. The context indicates that this prayer was answered; the importance and effectiveness of prayer are again emphasized, as in v. 2 (cf. Heb. 4:16).[2]

2:7 I remembered The Hebrew word used here most often occurs in the context of prayer (see 1 Sam 1:11; 2 Kgs 20:3; 2 Chr 6:42; Neh 5:19).

When my life was ebbing away Meaning that Jonah was losing hope. The Hebrew word translated as “life” or “soul” is used here to describe Jonah’s mental state. (Note that Jonah’s physical life is described with the word chay in the previous verse.) Nephesh, meaning “life,” and ataph, meaning “to faint,” are used together in a similar way in Psa 107:5. See note on Jonah 2:5.[3]

2:7 — “When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord .… ”

When we reach the end of our rope and the end of ourselves—when we hit rock bottom—only then are we sometimes ready to repent. But God is so loving and gracious, He will even accept that.[4]

2:7 I remembered: Jonah reaffirms his faith in the Lord and renews his commitment to Him (Pss. 22:27; 63:6; 106:7).[5]

2:6b–7. At the point of Jonah’s hopelessness and utter despair, God used the fish to lift the prophet up from the pit (“pit” is a synonym for grave). Because God had saved his life, the repentant prophet confessed that the Lord was his God (cf. v. 1). Sensing that he was about to die by drowning and that his life was ebbing away, he turned to God, praying to Him (cf. v. 2) for deliverance (on the holy temple; cf. comments on v. 4). In the gravest of perils the prophet prayed and his petitions rose to heaven to be answered most uniquely.[6]

Ver. 7. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord.—Jonah an-example of sanctified affliction:

It is interesting to mark the workings of a soul when struggling with the strong billows of affliction, especially if that affliction has come in the immediate train of backsliding, and appears as the net in which God has caught a wanderer from the fold, or the rod by which He would bring him back to wisdom and obedience.

1. The altered feeling toward God of which Jonah was now conscious, as compared with that state of mind which tempted him to go astray. Now, it is the bitterest part of his complaint that he was far from God. It must be a sanctified trouble which disposes the soul to feel thus toward God.

2. It was but the natural consequence of this state of mind in Jonah, though it may be noted as another mark of his sanctified affliction, that he poured out his heart in prayer: the spirit of Sonship was again revived in him, and it led him to cry, Abba, Father.

3. Mark the workings of faith here, sanctified affliction being always characterised by the degree in which faith is called into exercise. Notice the peculiar views and feelings which are expressed in this prayer.

1. The exercise of faith in regard to the appointment of the visitation: “Thou hast cast me,” &c.

2. The confidence and hope in God not extinguished, but rather roused into action by the extremity of his distress. Faith always is, in proportion to its clearness and strength, fertile in resources.

3. There is a further manifestation of faith in the words of Jonah, although it lies less upon the surface than those already noticed. It is the use made of the earlier portions of God’s Word, and the recorded experiences of former times.

4. The last thing to notice in the prayer, as a mark of sanctified affliction, is the purpose of amendment it expresses. (Patrick Fairbairn.)[7]

7. When my life was ebbing away. The initial words of this verse have been translated in a variety of ways: ‘When my soul fainted within me’ (rsv; cf. jb); ‘As my senses failed me’ (neb); ‘When I felt my life slipping away’ (gnb). The Hebrew verb hit‘aṭṭēp conveys the idea of growing faint or losing consciousness (cf. Pss 142:3; 143:4). On the brink of passing out for lack of oxygen, Jonah’s thoughts suddenly turn to God.

I remembered you, Lord. By inserting ‘you’ after ‘remembered’ the niv appears to follow M. Dahood’s suggested emendation of the Hebrew particle ’eṯ to ’attā, ‘you’. This, however, is quite unnecessary.49 So, ‘I remembered the Lord’ (rsv) is to be preferred. Jonah, however, not only remembers the Lord, but he also prays (cf. Pss 88:2; 102:1). In the light of verse 6 it is clear that Jonah’s request was favourably received (cf. v. 2). The expression your holy temple comes also at the end of verse 4 (cf. Ps. 18:6).[8]

Here Jonah comprehends in one verse what he had previously said,—that he had been distressed with the heaviest troubles, but that he had not yet been so cast down in his mind, as that he had no prospect of God’s favour to encourage him to pray. He indeed first confesses that he had suffered some kind of fainting, and that he had been harassed by anxious and perplexing thoughts, so as not to be able by his own efforts to disengage himself.

As to the word עטף, otheph, it means in Hebrew to hide, to cover; but in Niphal and Hithpael (in which conjugation it is found here) it signifies to fail: but its former meaning might still be suitably retained here; then it would be, ‘My soul hid or rolled up itself,’ as it is in Ps. 102, ‘The prayer of the afflicted, when he rolled up himself in his distress.’ They who render it, “he multiplied prayers,” have no reason to support them. I therefore doubt not but that Jonah here means, either that he had been overcome by a swoon, or that he had been so perplexed as not to be able without a violent struggle to raise up his mind to God. However it may have been, he intended by this word to express the anxiety of his mind. While then we are tossed about by divers thoughts, and remain, as it were, bound up in a hopeless condition, then our soul may be said to roll or to fold up itself within us. When therefore the soul rolls up itself, all the thoughts of man in perplexity recoil on himself. We may indeed seek to disburden ourselves, while we toss about various purposes, but whatever we strive to turn away from us, soon comes back on our own head; thus our soul recoils upon us. We now perceive what Jonah meant by this clause, When my soul infolded itself, or failed within me, I remembered, he says, Jehovah. We hence learn that Jonah became not a conqueror without the greatest difficulties, not until his soul, as we have said, had fainted: this is one thing. Then we learn, also, that he was not so oppressed with distresses but that he at length sought God by prayer. Jonah therefore retained this truth, that God was to be sought, however severely and sharply he treated him for a time; for the remembering, of which he speaks, proceeded from faith. The ungodly also remember Jehovah, but they dread him, for they look on him as a judge; and whenever a mention is made of God, they expect nothing but destruction: but Jonah applied the remembrance of God to another purpose, even as a solace to ease his cares and his anxieties.

For it immediately follows, that his prayer had penetrated unto God, or entered before him. We then see that Jonah so remembered his God, that by faith he knew that he would be propitious to him; and hence was his disposition to pray. But by saying that his prayer entered into his temple, he no doubt alludes to a custom under the law; for the Jews were wont to turn themselves towards the temple whenever they prayed: nor was this a superstitious ceremony; for we know that they were instructed in the doctrine which invited them to the sanctuary and the ark of the covenant. Since then this was the custom under the law, Jonah says that his prayer entered into the temple of God; for that was a visible symbol, through which the Jews might understand that God was near to them; not that they by a false imagination bound God to external signs, but because they knew that these helps (adminicula) had not in vain been given to them. So then Jonah not only remembered his God, but called also to mind the signs and symbols in which he had exercised his faith, as we have just said, through the whole course of his life; for they who view him as referring to heaven, depart wholly from what the Prophet meant. We indeed know that the temple sometimes means heaven; but this sense suits not this place. Then Jonah meant that though he was far away from the temple, God was yet near to him; for he had not ceased to pray to that God who had revealed himself by the law which he gave, and who had expressed his will to be worshipped at Jerusalem, and also had been pleased to appoint the ark as the symbol of his presence, that the Jews might, with an assured faith, call upon him, and that they might not doubt but that he dwelt in the midst of them, inasmuch as he had there his visible habitation.[9]

7 Jonah views himself as having remained loyal to the Lord to the very end (despite his disobedience), since he has not turned to other gods. Again the wording shows that he sees himself in noble and pious terms while at the same time raising the question about which temple his prayer rose to.[10]

Do Not Trust Your Own Opinion Too Much
Proverbs 15:22; 18:2; Philippians 2:3

Who is so wise as to have perfect knowledge of all things? Therefore trust not too much to your own opinion, but be ready also to hear the opinions of others. Though your own opinion be good, yet if for the love of God you forego it, and follow that of another, you shall the more profit thereby.

Contact with the World Leads to Sin
John 15:19; 17:15; 1 Corinthians 5:10; 2 Timothy 4:10

What wonder is it that those who are engrossed in temporal business and are unable to maintain a high degree of fervor or much religious practice should often transgress in thought and word and deed? The mere contact with the world tends to lead men to sin even against their will. But it is otherwise with those who have been relieved of the cares of the world and of many an occasion of evil.

EXCLUSIVE: BILLIONS in US Money, Knowledge and Skills Were GIVEN to China’s Virus Research Programs, Ultimately Resulting to COVID-19 Pandemic | The Gateway Pundit

Guest post by Lawrence Sellin, PhD

U.S. government officials, the media, and, in particular, members of the scientific community, for their own personal, political or financial advantage, have continued to promote the false narrative that COVID-19 came from nature.

It did not.

COVID-19 was one product of a wider program of gain of function virus research being conducted by Chinese Communist Party scientists within a dual use, military-commercial program.

That is, COVID-19 was made in a laboratory.

COVID-19 has a number of unusual features, which cannot be explained by a normal evolutionary process.

The only questions remaining are how and where COVID-19 was made and whether its release was accidental or deliberate.

In China, there is no difference between military and civilian virus research.

In recent months, I and other COVID-19 detectives have conducted a virus research network analysis of China’s virus biowarfare program.

Here, in this video, is what we have discovered about its origin and structure.

The CCP’s biowarfare program has three levels: a secret military level upon which civilian institutes and universities are layered.

That layer provides the means to interact with international virus research programs to access knowledge, skills, and funding, all of which is fed back into China’s program.

Over the last 30 years, China’s People’s Liberation Army has deeply infiltrated American virus research programs.

Much has been made in the media about Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance diverting up to 3 million dollars of funding from the National Institutes of Health to the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

That is only the tip of the iceberg.

Billions with a “B,” billions of American taxpayer dollars in knowledge, skills, and money have directly or indirectly contributed to China’s virus research programs, ultimately leading to COVID-19.

Much of that funding came from Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, but there was also substantial funding provided by the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

I explain how it happened in this video.

I call it “scientific chain migration.” In the 1990s, military-trained Chinese scientists began arriving in the United States, many sponsored by Anthony Fauci’s large AIDS research program.

Those initial Chinese military scientists, invited more Chinese military scientists until literally thousands were being trained in U.S. virus laboratories and taking knowledge and skills back to China.

Many of them are still in the United States collaborating with scientists in mainland China including military laboratories.

And, many of them, no doubt, have contributed to China’s biowarfare program.

The time has come for the American people to put an end to this robbery of our knowledge, skills, and research funding.

Insane Biden Wants to Rely on China, the WHO (Led by a Ranking Member from a Terrorist Nation), and a Conflicted US Doctor, to Investigate COVID-19 Origins | The Gateway Pundit

Instead of using independent US experts to unravel the actions by China behind COVID-19, Biden is going to rely on a group of individuals who were involved in the release and the WHO whose head is from a terrorist nation and others who are involved in the manufacture and release of COVID-19.

The Overwhelming Evidence of the Origin of the COVID-19 Pandemic Was Covered Up by US Government Officials, US Scientific Authorities and Their Chinese Counterparts

The Overwhelming Evidence of the Origin of the COVID-19 Pandemic Was Covered Up by US Government Officials, US Scientific Authorities and Their Chinese Counterparts

Dr. Daszak is the only member from the US on the WHO team investigating the origins of COVID-19:

The sole U.S. member of the WHO team, EcoHealth Alliance president Dr. Peter Daszak, revealed during a panel discussion Wednesday that they did not request to see the deleted WIV [Wuhan Institute of Virology] databases because he personally vouched for the lab, saying the data did not contain relevant information on the pandemic’s origins.

We’ve also reported in March 2020 that the current head of the WHO, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is one of the top government officials in the terrorist-led nation of Ethiopia and he does whatever China wants him to do:

REVEALED: WHO Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Reportedly Ranking Member of Known Terrorist Organization and China Puppet

REVEALED: WHO Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Reportedly Ranking Member of Known Terrorist Organization and China Puppet

Tedros was the one who set the world on fire when he claimed last March that COVID-19 had a 3.4% mortality rating, which we reported with evidence that this was total nonsense:

WHO Finally Agrees Our March Analysis was Correct: The WHO’s Early Coronavirus Mortality Rate Was Irresponsibly Overstated and We Called Them Out with The CORRECT NUMBERS!

WHO Finally Agrees Our March Analysis was Correct: The WHO’s Early Coronavirus Mortality Rate Was Irresponsibly Overstated and We Called Them Out with The CORRECT NUMBERS!

But none of this matters to the insane Biden gang.  They are going to rely on China and the Director-General of the WHO, who’s a top party member of a terrorist-led nation, a US doctor who was in on it, and others on the WHO team to tell the US what is the real origin of the COVID-19 virus:

Biden Press Secretary Psaki says at the 3:00 mark below:

Well, the President has said and I have said from here many times that there needs to be a credible, independent investigation through the World Health Organization, one that relies on data, one that relies on participation from China and other countries that may have information.  That’s certainly something that everybody has called for and we look forward to that happening.”

Tsaki and Biden are insane.  No one who knows China’s Communist Party, the WHO, and a US professor with conflicts, wants this gang running the investigation into the origins of COVID-19.

You would have to be a fool to think this gang will produce anything near the truth about COVID-19 origins.  We already know that relying on this group of conflicted clowns will only lead to a laughable outcome.

Joe Biden Administration Reportedly Awarded Huge ‘No-Bid’ Shelter Contracts Amid Child Migrant Surge

The number of unaccompanied children encountered by US border authorities reached nearly 19,000 in March – the highest number on record in the third major surge of families and children arriving from Central America since 2014, with Republicans blaming the Biden Administration for reversing ex-President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

In January Gateway Pundit Reported on How China was Colluding with Bidens and Sharing Info on How to Defeat Donald Trump — This Weekend The Daily Mail and Breitbart Echo Those Reports | The Gateway Pundit

On January 5th we first reported on Hunter Biden’s relationship with a Chinese secretary for the CEO of a large Chinese company.  We also reported on how she acted as a “cutout” between overseas Chinese officials and the Bidens.

We first reported on JiaQi Bao in early January where we tied not only her relationship with Hunter Biden but also the messages she sent Hunter from China.  As we reported:

Following traditional honeypot tactics, JiaQi was used to sweeten Hunter’s already saccharin-laced business engagement with CEFC. She kept an eye on Hunter from her base in NYC and acted as a cutout between the overseas Chinese officials and the Bidens.

We also reported in January how China was providing information to the Bidens on how to defeat President Trump in the 2020 election.

BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Evidence China Was Colluding with the Bidens and Providing Information on How to Defeat President Trump in the 2020 Election

BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Evidence China Was Colluding with the Bidens and Providing Information on How to Defeat President Trump in the 2020 Election

This information was all included on Hunter Biden’s laptop that he left at a computer repair shop in Delaware.

On Friday, the Daily Mail reported the same story on JiaQi Bao and then Brietbart reported on the story based on Daily Mail’s piece.

These are all shocking reports of the same story – that China used a honeypot to tie the Bidens with China.  Oh, and he left his brother Beau’s dog tags at her place and she returned them.

Maybe other entities will report on Hunter’s pimp getting a sweet deal in court as well?

Karl Marx and Charles Spurgeon’s Epic Struggle for Souls | The American Spectator

There are two gravesites I have made a habit of visiting whenever I am in London. The first lies in North London at Highgate Cemetery. Among the 53,000 buried there, one finds a few notables: Michael Faraday, inventor of the electric motor, and Adam Worth, the real-life basis for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s evil Moriarty in the Sherlock Holmes stories, are two. Most notable of all is the resting place, a monument really, of Karl Marx. Though Prussian, Marx lived in London the last 34 years of his life. There he refined his radical secular ideology and produced Das Kapital, setting loose upon the world ideas that have wrecked half of it and now threaten to wreck the other half.

The second gravesite lies in South London at West Norwood Cemetery. Among the 42,000 graves there, one also finds a few men of renown: Paul Julius Baron von Reuter, founder of the global news organization of the same name, and Hiram Maxim, inventor of the first portable fully automatic machine gun, are interred here. Perhaps more illustrious than either of these is the grave of Charles Spurgeon. The “Prince of Preachers,” Spurgeon was the 19th century’s British equivalent of Billy Graham. He pastored what was allegedly the largest church congregation in the world.

It is extraordinary to me that Karl Marx (1818–83) and Charles Spurgeon (1834–92) lived and worked in the same city at the same time. Both were, in a sense, evangelists contending for the souls of men with their competing visions of humanity. Moreover, they were at the height of their powers at the same time. While Marx was preaching salvation through bloody revolution, Spurgeon, on the other side of the city, was preaching salvation through the blood and grace of Jesus Christ.

The London of Marx and Spurgeon was the center of world governance and epoch-defining ideas. With Queen Victoria’s missionaries to civilize it and her ministers, armies, and navy to rule it, the British Empire was at its zenith so that the sun literally never set upon it. Whether it was David Livingstone searching for the source of the Nile or Charles Darwin writing On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, Britain was at the forefront of all that was considered progress.

But the Britain of this era convulsed with the problems endemic to massive social change — so much so that an air of revolution lingered like some ominous storm gathering on the horizon, threatening to engulf this peaceful kingdom as it had intermittently done on the continent since the French Revolution in 1789.

The island nation was in the throes of the bare-knuckled phase of the Industrial Revolution, which brought with it a special kind of human degradation. The urban poor crowded the slums and populated the novels of Charles Dickens. Child labor laws were in their infancy. Black factory smoke choked the air, and coal dust filled lungs.

It was into this combustible atmosphere that Karl Marx stepped. The man with a beard so wild that it might have landed him on a Kansas album cover were he born a century later had revolution on his mind when he moved from Paris to London in 1849. Of course, revolution had always been on his mind. Marx had sought the overthrow of governments throughout Europe, and in the ensuing turmoil of 1848, he was forced to flee the continent.

Once in London, Marx spent his days at the British Museum preparing his magnum opus, Das Kapital, a critique of capitalism that could fill a sizable pothole. Although he fashioned himself as a scholar, he was more of a dilettante, a dabbler in scholarly activity. A scholar begins with a tentative thesis and allows the facts to dictate his conclusions. He is, in other words, committed to the truth. In sharp contrast to this methodology, Marx — like today’s woke media, policies, and academia — began with a conclusion and worked backward from it, facts be damned.

“Communism abolishes eternal truths,” he declared openly in The Communist Manifesto (1848). “It abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis.”

In another passage of that dangerous little book, he writes,

Abolish the family!… The bourgeois family will vanish as a matter of course when its complement vanishes, and both will vanish with the vanishing of capital…. The bourgeois clap-trap about the family and education, about the hallowed co-relation of parent and child, becomes all the more disgusting, the more, by the action of Modern Industry, all family ties among the proletarians are torn asunder, and their children transformed into simple articles of commerce and instruments of labour.

Much as Mein Kampf (1925) would be a bald statement of Hitler’s intentions should he ever attain power, The Communist Manifesto is likewise clear in stating the objectives of communists (i.e., socialists) should they ever attain power. No one could justly say he was not forewarned. (So it is today with Black Lives Matter, where one once found all of this restated in oblique terms on their website.)

Lazy and like socialists of any era, Marx did not mind accepting monetary handouts from wealthy capitalists while criticizing the means by which they had acquired the wealth. (And today, Black Lives Matter, a Marxist organization, has received almost $2 billion in corporate contributions.) Marx was allergic to work, it seems, and never held a steady job. Even as he extolled the evils of capitalist industry, there is no evidence he ever visited a factory at any point in his miserable life. His mother bitterly complained that she wished that her son would “accumulate capital instead of just writing about it.”

In the spirit of other would-be revolutionaries before and since, Marx was a Manichean who divided the world into two camps: the Revolution and its enemies. These were identified simply as those who agreed with the dogmatic Prussian and those who did not. The former were considered intelligent and enlightened; the latter were berated in racist and anti-Semitic rants. Marx attacked one opponent as a “Jewish n****r.” He saw capitalism as a poison perpetrated on humanity by Jews, and he hated them for it, though it seems anti-Semitism came naturally to him. To read Marx’s personal letters or published works is to encounter a bitter, evil mind concealing hatred in what he (and others) promoted as a noble vision of humanity.

But a noble vision it is not.

That vision of human dignity and salvation found expression in the preaching of Charles Spurgeon, who burst upon the London scene in 1853. Spurgeon was only 19 years old when he was appointed pastor of a congregation at the New Park Street Chapel in south central London. Soon, his earnest, passionate messages were attracting enormous crowds, requiring services to be moved to the largest public gathering space in London, the Royal Surrey Gardens Music Hall. A letter published in the Times describes what would become a familiar occurrence for the next three decades:

Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries…. Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur, of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach everyone in that vast assembly; of his language that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the ‘Calvinist’ nor the ‘Baptist’ appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.

So popular was he that in 1857, at the request of Queen Victoria, the 23-year-old Spurgeon electrified a crowd of 24,000 at the Crystal Palace with his sermon about the first day of creation.

Although there is no indication that Marx and Spurgeon ever met, each was aware of the other and the irreconcilable nature of the messages each proclaimed. Marx complained of Spurgeon in a letter to Friedrich Engels, and Spurgeon hammered away at Marx’s idea. Each achieved fame in his own lifetime, and while Spurgeon’s fame eclipsed that of Marx during the 1850s and 1860s, Marx’s message of secular salvation gained in prominence after the publication of the first volume of Das Kapital in 1867, and especially after the failure of the Paris Commune in 1871. It is in this post–Paris Commune period that Spurgeon began to take note of Marx’s philosophy, if not the man himself.

It would be wrong to say — as many preachers do — that addressing matters of politics falls outside of the purview of the clergy. Of no other sphere of life do they say it. Regardless, Spurgeon certainly didn’t agree with this sentiment. Christianity isn’t merely an accessory to a man’s life; it should define it. Thus, a man’s politics are simply the outward manifestation of the convictions of his heart. Socialism, Spurgeon knew, was much more than an economic or political question. It is a spiritual question, if only because it denies the very existence of the spiritual. It is, as I have written elsewhere, atheism masquerading as political philosophy.

Spurgeon had, in fact, noted the dangers of socialism remarkably early in his ministry. In 1855, he warned of communists who wanted nothing less than “the real disruption of all society as at present established.” He asked the gathered, “Would you desire reigns of terror here, as they had in France? Do you wish to see all society shattered and men wandering like monster icebergs on the sea, dashing against each other and being at last utterly destroyed?”

But it is in the post-1871 period that he speaks more frequently and with greater urgency on the subject of socialism. In a sermon on Psalm 118 in June 1878, Spurgeon made a tentative prediction to his congregation:

German rationalism which has ripened into Socialism may yet pollute the mass of mankind and lead them to overturn the foundations of society. Then “advanced principles” will hold carnival and free thought [i.e., atheism] will riot with the vice and blood which were years ago the insignia of “the age of reason.” I say not that it will be so, but I should not wonder if it came to pass, for deadly principles are abroad and certain ministers are spreading them.

In a sermon on Isaiah 66 in April 1889, Spurgeon, recognizing that many had confused the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the cheap, secular knock-off proclaimed by Marx and his ilk, thundered from his pulpit:

For many a year, by the grand old truths of the gospel, sinners were converted, and saints were edified, and the world was made to know that there is a God in Israel. But these are too antiquated for the present cultured race of superior beings! They are going to regenerate the world by Democratic Socialism, and set up a kingdom for Christ without the new birth or the pardon of sin. Truly the Lord has not taken away the seven thousand that have not bowed the knee to Baal … The latter-day gospel is not the gospel by which we were saved. To me it seems a tangle of ever-changing dreams. It is, by the confession of its inventors, the outcome of the period — the monstrous birth of a boasted “progress” — the scum from the cauldron of conceit. It has not been given by the infallible revelation of God — it does not pretend to have been. It is not divine — it has no inspired Scripture at its back. It is, when it touches the Cross, an enemy! When it speaks of Him who died thereon, it is a deceitful friend. Many are its sneers at the truth of substitution — it is irate at the mention of the precious blood. Many a pulpit, where Christ was once lifted high in all the glory of His atoning death, is now profaned by those who laugh at justification by faith. In fact, men are not now to be saved by faith but by doubt. Those who love the Church of God feel heavy at heart because the teachers of the people cause them to err. Even from a national point of view, men of foresight see cause for grave concern.

The reference to bowing knees is prescient given the events of our own time. But it must be noted where Spurgeon lays blame for the state of things. Like theologian Francis Schaeffer a century later, he places it squarely on the men of his own vocation. As if to assail the heresy that would infect the pulpits of the Western world, Spurgeon speaks directly to the political climate. Indeed, if there were lines marking the lane in which he as a clergyman was to remain, he refused to acknowledge them. Like a charioteer in the Circus Maximus, he thrashed the fleet-footed horses carrying the Gospel he preached right across every lane of human endeavor, especially those that presumed to exalt themselves above God, as socialism surely does.

Marx belonged to that category of men, still popular in our age, that Romans 1 calls “haters of God.” One simply does not set up idols and altars if he is anything else, and that is precisely what socialism is: a false god set up against the one true God in a great act of defiance, offering men a counterfeit version of salvation. Marx himself was not unaware of how easily some confuse the authentic for the false, and he sought to exploit it. “Nothing,” he wrote in The Communist Manifesto, “is easier than to give Christian asceticism a Socialist tinge.”

For this reason, Spurgeon combated Marx and his ideas just as the Apostle John had once opposed Cerinthus and Augustine had used his formidable intellect to confront Pelagius.

“Great schemes of socialism have been tried and found lacking,” Spurgeon inveighed in another sermon. “Let us look to regeneration by the Son of God, and we shall not look in vain.”

It is very likely that the preaching of Spurgeon, and others like him, helped to prevent the violent Revolution in Britain that Marx sought. Ironically, that revolution would come in the unindustrialized Russia of 1917, when Vladimir Lenin would, at the cost of millions of lives, implement Marx’s unworkable ideas. That is in no small measure due to the fact that there was no viable church to critique the undeliverable promises of socialism.

According to historian Orlando Figes, when Marx’s Das Kapital was approved for publication in Russia by the censors who forbade almost any political expression, the ideas therein were released into an ideological vacuum. By contrast, those same ideas were (rightly) subjected to withering attacks in Britain by those who saw them for what they were. In this sense, Christianity served as a bulwark against the barbarism that has accompanied Marxism everywhere — everywhere — it has been implemented.

Today the battle continues, but the battlefield has expanded to the entire world. Marxism morphs as it goes, disguising itself until it reaches our own time in the sheep’s clothing of racial equality and so-called “social justice.”

The Gospel, however, remains remarkably unchanged. Its power to transform societies is one of the most underrated benefits of Christian belief. Through the inward transformation of the individual, there is a corresponding outward transformation of society. This is what I call “The Grace Effect.

No greater scam has been perpetrated on so many for so long than the lie that socialism, once adopted, will reorganize society along the lines of a utopia for all. Such political solutions have always failed, and this one has nothing but a history of catastrophic failure.

As Spurgeon so eloquently put it, “To attempt national regeneration without personal regeneration is to dream of erecting a house without separate bricks.”

Shame: This Woman Gave Life To A Beautiful Child, Completely Missing Out On Soul-Crushing Corporate Career — The Babylon Bee

DETROIT, MI—According to a tragic report, local mother Lyn Smith has given birth to a precious brand-new human life, completely missing out on having her soul crushed every day in her corporate career. Mr. Smith has picked up extra hours at his job so she can stay home with her baby.

Sources say Mrs. Smith has given life to a gorgeous baby boy who has filled her life will transcendent love and meaning, unlike anything she has ever experienced.

Unfortunately, this has caused her to miss out on the coveted “Salesperson of the Fiscal Quarter” award at her former employer Omnicorp. She has also missed out on 1823 hours of overtime, 372 Zoom meetings, 12 unwanted advances from male co-workers, and all the respect of feminists familiar with the situation.

“Just look at her over there, rolling on the floor with that sweet, pudgy little baby,” said her former co-worker Sandra as she took her cats out to brunch. “Disgusting. Just a baby factory for her husband. Too bad she’ll never match my achievements in life!” she said as she held up her coveted “Most Improved Office Assistant of the Fiscal Quarter” award.

We reached out to Mrs. Smith for comment, but she was too busy laughing and tickling her 1-year-old bundle of joy to pay any attention.

No Vaccine Passports in Texas! Medical Doctors Testify Before State Senate to Oppose Mandatory COVID Shots | Global Research

This past week the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs took testimony from Texas physicians regarding SB 1669: Stop Forced Vaccination and Vaccine Passports in Texas.

SB 1669 was sponsored by Senator Bob Hall.

You can learn more about this bill at the National Vaccine Information Center’s Advocacy Portal (registration required.)

Here is some of the text provided to the public regarding Senate Bill 1669:

Contact your Texas State Legislators and Demand No Forced Vaccination, No Vaccine Passports, No Exceptions – Support SB 1669

Mandated vaccination in Texas with COVID-19 vaccines will be the reality unless the legislature takes decisive action now.  In fact, it has already started happening.

Houston Methodist Hospital has told its 26,000 employees to get vaccinated by June 7th or get fired. Atria Senior Living, which has 16 facilities in Texas, is requiring all employees to receive 2 COVID-19 vaccines by May 1, 2021 as a condition of employment or face termination.

The city of Farmer’s Branch, Texas is requiring COVID-19 vaccination to access the city run facility called The Branch Connection. Forget taking a cruise with Royal Caribbean from Texas unless you’ve been COVID-19 vaccinated. St. Edwards University in Austin became one of the first colleges to mandate COVID-19 vaccines.

This is just the beginning.

Governor Abbott’s Executive Order Prohibiting COVID-19 Vaccine Passports Falls Short at Protection

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has been quoted saying that in Texas, COVID-19 vaccines “are always voluntary and never forced.”

The truth is Executive Order GA 35 falls short at preserving the right of law-abiding Texas citizens to be able to function normally in society without having to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination.

EO GA 35 only prohibits the government, or public or private entities funded by the government, from requiring documentation of an individual’s COVID-19 vaccination status. This does nothing to prohibit businesses not receiving government funding from banning customers who don’t have a COVID-19 vaccine. Also, this executive order fails to give any protection to employees whose employers are requiring COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.

In addition, the limited protections offered in EO GA 35 will be short lived because the order only applies to “Emergency Use Authorization” (EUA) COVID-19 vaccines.  Once a vaccine has received full FDA approval, the EUA designation no longer applies and therefore neither will any protection in this executive order including the ban on forced vaccination by the government. Full FDA approval will be soon. Moderna, the manufacture of one of the 3 available COVID-19 vaccines, is already seeking full FDA approval, and Pfizer, one of the other manufacturers, announced it would seek full approval in the first half of 2021.

Governor Abbott’s executive order also falls short when compared to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s executive order banning vaccines passports which additionally prohibits all business from requiring COVID-19 vaccination status or post infection recovery status to gain access to or service from the business, and it applies to all COVID-19 vaccines instead of expiring after full FDA approval is achieved. It also protects personal privacy rights by prohibiting the government from publishing or sharing a person’s COVID-19 vaccination status to third parties.

Texans Need a Law Passed to Protect them From Forced Vaccination and Vaccine Passports (If you want to immediately see what you can do to help pass SB 1669 into law in Texas scroll down to “Action Needed)”

We are grateful to announce that Texas history has been made with the filing of
SB 1669 in the Texas Legislature by Senator Bob Hall.

SB 1669 prohibits discrimination or segregation based on vaccination or immune status and prohibits forced vaccination in all areas of your life.

We need your help getting SB 1669 moving as the bill is currently stalled awaiting a hearing in the Senate State Affairs Committee. Legislators need to be educated about the shortcomings in Governor Abbott’s executive order and the vulnerabilities for mandated vaccination in Texas based on current law so they can pass this bill or amend parts of it onto other bills.

This is by far the most comprehensive bill prohibiting mandated vaccination in all areas that could affect your life including government orders, employment, healthcare, education, access to businesses, access to events and venues like sports and concerts, long-term care, nursing homes, insurance, and childcare.

Read more at the National Vaccine Information Center’s Advocacy Portal.

Senator Bob Hall, in his opening statements at the Senate hearing this week stated:

The chief responsibility and Constitutional role of our government is to protect the rights of the individual. Employees can take off their helmets, masks, and uniforms at the end of the work day, but they cannot remove a vaccine.

Dr. Richard Bartlett was the first physician to testify in favor of SB 1669 to Stop Forced Vaccination and Vaccine Passports in Texas.

Dr. Bartlett has over 28 years of medical practice experience and is a veteran primary care and emergency room doctor in West Texas.

Dr. Bartlett is best known since the COVID crisis started as a doctor who has cured many patients using an older, already FDA approved drug, called budesonide, which is an inhaled corticosteroid. (Learn more here.)

During his testimony, Dr. Bartlett explained that there are existing treatments already available to treat COVID patients, making it unnecessary to mandate experimental new “vaccines.”

He pointed to a recent Oxford University study just published that showed 90% success rate in using inhaled budesonide with COVID patients in preventing long-term care or hospitalization.

From the Oxford study:

The STOIC study found that inhaled budesonide given to patients with COVID-19 within seven days of the onset of symptoms also reduced recovery time. Budesonide is a corticosteroid used in the long-term management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Findings from the phase 2 randomised study, which was supported by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), were published on the medRxiv pre-print server.

The findings from 146 people – of whom half took 800 micrograms of the medication twice a day and half were on usual care – suggests that inhaled budesonide reduced the relative risk of requiring urgent care or hospitalisation by 90% in the 28-day study period. Participants allocated the budesonide inhaler also had a quicker resolution of fever, symptoms and fewer persistent symptoms after 28 days. (Source.)

Dr. Bartlett works in the Emergency Room, and he stated that there are very few patients coming in now with COVID, but “I am now seeing more people come in (to the ER) who are having complications from the COVID shot.”

And Dr. Bartlett points out that these are mostly younger people who were in excellent health before the shot, since Dr. Bartlett works in Lubbock, Texas, which is a college town.

Dr. Ben Edwards of Veritas Medical in Lubbock, Texas, was the next physician to give testimony in favor of SB 1669 to Stop Forced Vaccination and Vaccine Passports in Texas.

Dr. Edwards received his degree from Baylor University, and later graduated from UT-Houston Medical School. He moved to Waco to complete his training at the Waco Family Practice Residency Program where he was Chief Resident. He now operates three clinics in West Texas.

Dr. Edwards stated his concern that “the forced and coerced COVID-19 vaccinations would, in my opinion, be a violation of the Nuremberg Code,” as well as several other international codes on bioethics and human rights.

He cited the fact that the CDC is now reporting 4,178 deaths reported to VAERS, while for the previous 20 years combined there were 4,182 deaths recorded from all vaccines.

He also pointed out that a Harvard Study has previously estimated that only about 1% of all adverse reactions to vaccines are ever reported to VAERS. Two other subsequent studies showed the same thing.

In his own practice, Dr. Edwards stated that he has received “numerous reports within hours of receiving the COVID vaccines that people have suffered strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary embolisms (blood clots), and sudden death.”

Dr. Edwards went on to cite research which shows that those with natural immunity to COVID (they already had it) will see a 2 to 3 fold increase risk of adverse reactions from the COVID shots.

Over half of Texans now have this natural immunity. He stated:

On a personal note, I believe that God gave us an amazingly robust immune system, and I don’t think you can improve on God.

The next physician to testify in favor of SB 1669 to Stop Forced Vaccination and Vaccine Passports in Texas was Dr. Amy Offutt from St. Marble Falls, TX.

Dr. Offutt is trained in Integrative Medicine. She was recently appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome Advisory Council. In addition, she serves on the Board of Directors for ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society).

Dr. Offutt is another physician who has been successfully treating COVID patients with existing early treatment protocols.

She testified:

As of last Friday, my practice has treated 579 acutely ill patients as old as 98 years of age, with only ten hospitalizations and one dead.

The man who died presented on the 12th day of illness was a transplant patient and had already been to the ER multiple times before seeking care from us. This was such an unnecessary tragedy.

Dr. Offutt believes that “informed consent is the core to shared decision making in medicine.”

The next physician to testify in favor of SB 1669 to Stop Forced Vaccination and Vaccine Passports in Texas was Dr. Angelina Farella from Webster, TX.

Dr. Farella is a pediatrician with over 25 years experience. She started out her testimony to the Senate Committee by stating:

I am here today to protect our children in Texas. This is a very scary situation that we are in right now.

Dr. Farella stated that as a pediatrician she has given out tens of thousands of vaccines, and that she is not “anti-vaccine,” but:

I am against this COVID vaccine, if we can even call it that (a vaccine.)

What we are doing to our children with this vaccine is actually criminal.

All of these physicians are “frontline physicians” who actually treat patients, but their clinical experiences in treating COVID patients is being censored by the corporate media, and ignored by the government and Big Pharma, in favor mass vaccination instead.

As Biden boosts abortion funding, U.K. pulls plug | WND

President Joe Biden had taken 10 major steps since taking office to promote abortion worldwide.

They include repealing the Mexico City policy that prevented U.S. funding of abortion abroad as well as restoring funding to the United Nations Population Fund and Planned Parenthood.

Some members of the international community aren’t going along, however.

The U.K.’s Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office has cut its support for U.N. abortion campaigns by 85%, noted the U.K.’s Christian Institute.

The reduction is expected to be more than $180 million.

Since its foundation in 2008, the UNFPA Supplies Partnership has facilitated an estimated 26.8 million abortions. And UNFPA executive director Natalia Kanem said the money would have paid for the resources for a further 4.3 million abortions this year.

The British agency said the cut was necessary as part of overall budget changes because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Catherine Robinson, spokeswoman for Right to Life UK, called the announcement “a welcome move” but added that the cut represented only “a tiny fraction of the huge amount being spent on abortion providers,” the Christian Institute said.

The BBC reported U.N. officials were distressed that instead of $214 million, they’ll only get about $32 million this year.

The UNPF warned that the impacts of the cuts will be “devastating for women and girls and their families across the world.”

Manuelle Hurwitz, an official with the International Planned Parenthood Federation, called the slash in funding “shameful.”

He said it would increase the number of women who “do not have access to modern contraceptives.”

Biden’s moves in support of abortion include his intention of making Roe v. Wade part of American law, with withdrawal of the United States from the Geneva Consensus declaring “there is no international right to abortion.”
