Is the Christian Left Hijacking the Church? | Cross Examined Official Podcast

Pastor and author Lucas Miles joins Frank to discuss his new book, The Christian Left: How Liberal Thought Has Hijacked the Church.   Why has the church gone left?  Is the culture influencing the church rather than the church influencing the culture?  How should Christians respond to the following claims?

Jesus accepts everyone.

  • Jesus would never get in the way of the love between two people.
  • Jesus was a refugee.
  • Jesus accepts foreigners and strangers.
  • God doesn’t create walls that prevent us from coming to him.
  • People need to live their truth.
  • Some people are just born gay (or bi or transgender).
  • A real Christian accepts everyone.

Frank and Lucas also discuss where the right has gone wrong, and how Christians can get back to advocating the Truth.

Never Separated from God — VCY America

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believeth thou this? (John 11:26)

Yes, Lord, we believe it; we shall never die. Our soul may be separated from our body, and this is death of a kind; but our soul shall never be separated from God, which is the true death—the death which was threatened to sin—the death penalty which is the worst that can happen. We believe this most assuredly, for who shall separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord? We are members of the Body of Christ; will Christ lose parts of His Body? We are married to Jesus; will He be bereaved and widowed? It is not possible. There is a life within us which is not capable of being divided from God: yea, and the Holy Spirit dwells within us, and how then can we die? Jesus, Himself, is our life, and therefore there is no dying for us, for He cannot die again, In Him we died unto sin once, and the capital sentence cannot a second time be executed. Now we live, and live forever. The reward of righteousness is life everlasting, and we have nothing less than the righteousness of God, and therefore can claim the very highest reward.

Living and believing, we believe that we shall live and enjoy. Wherefore we press forward with full assurance that our life is secure in our living Head.

June 28 Evening Quotes of The Day

“The Devil Is a Great Student in Divinity”
Genesis 3:1; Matthew 4:5–6; Luke 4:9–11

The devil is a great student in divinity, and makes no other use of his Scripture knowledge than may serve his turn by sophistry to do the Christian a mischief, either by drawing him into sin, or into despair for sinning.

Superstition Is an Erroneous Relation to God
1 Kings 20:23; Jeremiah 44:17–19; Ezekiel 13:1–23; Acts 8:18–19; 14:8–20

Superstition neither knows the right kind, nor observes the due measure, of actions belonging to the service of God, but is always joined with a wrong opinion touching things divine. Superstition is when things are either abhorred or observed with a zealous or fearful, but erroneous, relation to God.

Is the Reformation Over? — Ligonier Ministries Blog

There have been several observations rendered on this subject by those I would call “erstwhile evangelicals.” One of them wrote, “Luther was right in the sixteenth century, but the question of justification is not an issue now.” A second self-confessed evangelical made a comment in a press conference I attended that “the sixteenth-century Reformation debate over justification by faith alone was a tempest in a teapot.” Still another noted European theologian has argued in print that the doctrine of justification by faith alone is no longer a significant issue in the church. We are faced with a host of people who are defined as Protestants but who have evidently forgotten altogether what it is they are protesting.

Contrary to some of these contemporary assessments of the importance of the doctrine of justification by faith alone, we recall a different perspective by the sixteenth-century magisterial Reformers. Luther made his famous comment that the doctrine of justification by faith alone is the article upon which the church stands or falls. John Calvin added a different metaphor, saying that justification is the hinge upon which everything turns. In the twentieth century, J.I. Packer used a metaphor indicating that justification by faith alone is the “Atlas upon whose shoulder every other doctrine stands.” Later Packer moved away from that strong metaphor and retreated to a much weaker one, saying that justification by faith alone is “the fine print of the gospel.”

The question we have to face in light of these discussions is, what has changed since the sixteenth century? Well, there is good news and there is bad news. The good news is that people have become much more civil and tolerant in theological disputes. We don’t see people being burned at the stake or tortured on the rack over doctrinal differences. We’ve also seen in the past years that the Roman communion has remained solidly steadfast on other key issues of Christian orthodoxy, such as the deity of Christ, His substitutionary atonement, and the inspiration of the Bible, while many Protestant liberals have abandoned these particular doctrines wholesale. We also see that Rome has remained steadfast on critical moral issues such as abortion and ethical relativism. In the nineteenth century at Vatican Council I, Rome referred to Protestants as “heretics and schismatics.” In the twentieth century at Vatican II, Protestants were referred to as “separated brethren.” We see a marked contrast in the tone of the different councils. The bad news, however, is that many doctrines that divided orthodox Protestants from Roman Catholics centuries ago have been declared dogma since the sixteenth century. Virtually all of the significant Mariology decrees have been declared in the last 150 years. The doctrine of papal infallibility, though it de facto functioned long before its formal definition, was nevertheless formally defined and declared de fide (necessary to believe for salvation) in 1870 at Vatican Council I. We also see that in recent years the Roman communion has published a new Catholic catechism, which unequivocally reaffirms the doctrines of the Council of Trent, including Trent’s definition of the doctrine of justification (and thus affirms that council’s anathemas against the Reformation doctrine of justification by faith alone). Along with the reaffirmations of Trent have come a clear reaffirmation of the Roman doctrine of purgatory, indulgences, and the treasury of merits.

At a discussion among leading theologians over the issue of the continued relevance of the doctrine of justification by faith alone, Michael Horton asked the question: “What is it in the last decades that has made the first-century gospel unimportant?” The dispute over justification was not over a technical point of theology that could be consigned to the fringes of the depository of biblical truth. Nor could it be seen simply as a tempest in a teapot. This tempest extended far beyond the tiny volume of a single teacup. The question, “what must I do to be saved?” is still a critical question for any person who is exposed to the wrath of God.

Even more critical than the question is the answer, because the answer touches the very heart of gospel truth. In the final analysis, the Roman Catholic Church affirmed at Trent and continues to affirm now that the basis by which God will declare a person just or unjust is found in one’s “inherent righteousness.” If righteousness does not inhere in the person, that person at worst goes to hell and at best (if any impurities remain in his life) goes to purgatory for a time that may extend to millions of years. In bold contrast to that, the biblical and Protestant view of justification is that the sole grounds of our justification is the righteousness of Christ, which righteousness is imputed to the believer, so that the moment a person has authentic faith in Christ, all that is necessary for salvation becomes theirs by virtue of the imputation of Christ’s righteousness. The fundamental issue is this: is the basis by which I am justified a righteousness that is my own? Or is it a righteousness that is, as Luther said, “an alien righteousness,” a righteousness that is extra nos, apart from us—the righteousness of another, namely, the righteousness of Christ? From the sixteenth century to the present, Rome has always taught that justification is based upon faith, on Christ, and on grace. The difference, however, is that Rome continues to deny that justification is based on Christ alone, received by faith alone, and given by grace alone. The difference between these two positions is the difference between salvation and its opposite. There is no greater issue facing a person who is alienated from a righteous God.

At the moment the Roman Catholic Church condemned the biblical doctrine of justification by faith alone, she denied the gospel and ceased to be a legitimate church, regardless of all the rest of her affirmations of Christian orthodoxy. To embrace her as an authentic church while she continues to repudiate the biblical doctrine of salvation is a fatal attribution. We’re living in a time where theological conflict is considered politically incorrect, but to declare peace when there is no peace is to betray the heart and soul of the gospel.

97:9 are most high See note on 91:1.

You are highly exalted above all gods Just as Yahweh is high over the earth, He is also above the foreign gods. People in the ancient Near East believed the gods belonged to the realm of the heavens, but here Yahweh is depicted as even above the place where they dwelled (compare note on v. 5). See note on v. 7.[1]

9. “For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth.” And therefore do we rejoice to see the idols abolished and to see all mankind bending at thy throne. There is but one God, there cannot be another, and he is and ever must he over all. “Thou art exalted far above all gods.” As much as all is exalted above nothing, and perfection above folly. Jehovah is not alone high over Judea, but over all the earth, nor is he exalted over men only, but over everything that can be called god: the days are on their way when all men shall discern this truth, and shall render unto the Lord the glory which is due alone to him.

10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.[2]

Ver. 9.—For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth; rather, art the Most High (eliun) above all the earth (see the Revised Version). Thou art exalted far above all gods (comp. ver. 7, and see also Ps. 83:18). No comparison can be made between Jehovah and the heathen gods. He is “exalted” far, far above them.[3]

97:9 the Most High over all the earth. Verse 9 concludes part 1 of the psalm by continuing the direct address to Yahweh in verse 8, lauding his sovereign reign over all the gods, essentially a confirmation of “the Lord reigns” in verse 1. “Most High,” an ancient epithet for God (‘elyon), draws Abraham’s witness into the story (Gen. 14:22), for he identified Yahweh with Melchizedek’s “God Most High.” See “The Text in Context” in the unit on Psalm 83, and the comments on 83:18.[4]

Fix Your Eyes on Jesus — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2

You can’t walk straight while blindfolded. You can try, and maybe succeed for a while. But fairly quickly you’ll start to divert slightly to one side or the other. A National Public Radio article notes that: “Humans, apparently, slip into circles when we can’t see an external focal point, like a mountain top, a sun, a moon. Without a corrective, our insides take over and there’s something inside us that won’t stay straight.”

One of my seminary professors liked to say that the line between truth and error is as thin as a razor but as hard as a diamond. The trouble is that it’s often hard to see the line. How do I know if I’ve stepped to the side? There are so many competing messages in our world. Despite faithful and well-intentioned devotional reading and prayer in the morning, by the time you complete your daily commute to work, you may be been bombarded with dozens if not hundreds of distractions.

The apostle Paul asked the Galatian church: “You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?” (Galatians 5:7)

The only way to keep going along the straight path is for us to “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). Make no mistake, we are not saved by our ability to keep ourselves on the straight path. Jesus is the author (the source, or cause) of our faith, and also the perfecter (the completer, or finisher) of our faith. He is not only Holy God and our Lord and Savior, Jesus is the model of our faith. Only by keeping our eyes on Him and trusting in Him will we continue on the straight path.

Practically speaking this means continually asking ourselves: “Is this the most loving, God-honoring choice I could make?” Fix your eyes on Jesus, and He will guide your steps so that you will finish the race and be able to say along with Paul “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)

Question: What distracts you (or tempts you) from the straight path?

When Someone Disappoints Us — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

“Jesus did not commit Himself unto them . . .for He knew what was in man.” John 2:24-25

Not one of us has attained perfection, yet we are disappointed when someone we respect disappoints us by their attitude or action. Only Jesus’ earthly life was perfect.

We know that no one is perfect, yet, when a friend, a teacher, a leader, a child or spouse disappoints us, we so often become judgmental, hurt, bitter or cynical—even mean.

The reason we react this way is because we are expecting them to be perfect—like Jesus. When we become disillusioned with people, instead of us relying on God’s grace to change them, we will always be disappointed. However, we can choose to have a Christ like attitude when we experience these disappointments.

Oswald Chambers wrote in My Utmost for His Highest, “Our Lord trusted no man; yet He was never suspicious, never bitter, never in despair about any man, because He put God first in trust. He trusted absolutely in what God’s grace could do for any man.”

We have the Holy Spirit at work within us, “ For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13.  God is pleased when we are as gracious and merciful with others as He is with us.

Have you been disappointment in others lately?  Ask Jesus to enable you to have His attitude toward them.  Forgive and love!

Lord Jesus, next time we are disappointed in someone’s action or attitude, please remind us that God is not finished with them yet—that His grace is sufficient to change them. Thank you for empowering us to keep loving them.  Amen

June 28 Afternoon Quotes of The Day

We Can Know Experimentally What We Cannot Know Comprehensively
Ephesians 3:19

Ephesians 3:19 is a peculiar kind of expression. The meaning is, that we may know that experimentally, which we cannot know comprehensively—that we may know that in its power and effects, which we cannot comprehend in its nature and depths. A weary person may receive refreshment from a spring, who cannot fathom the depths of the ocean from whence it proceeds.

God’s Wrath Originates in Humans
Joshua 7:1; 1 Kings 11:9; Jeremiah 7:19; 18:20; Zechariah 7:12; Mark 3:5; Romans 2:5

I saw no wrath but on man’s part; and that He forgives in us. For wrath is nothing else but a frowardness and contrariness to peace and love; and either it comes of failing of might, or of failing of wisdom, or of failing of goodness, which failing is not in God but on our part.

Kamala’s Not-So-Excellent Border Adventure

Vice President Harris went to the border, but what exactly did she accomplish?

Nate Jackson

“It’s not my first trip,” snapped “border czar” Kamala Harris to a reporter in El Paso Friday. “I’ve been to the border many times.” Not as vice president and not until she’d served 93 days as the person President Joe Biden tapped to be the face of his open-borders crisis.

Of course, given that she showed up in El Paso, which as our Douglas Andrews noted last Thursday is “some 800 miles from where the action is,” she might as well have stayed in Washington. Or gone to Europe. But hey, at least she went to Guatemala to opine about “root causes.”

Political analyst John Daniel Davison summed up the political theater:

She visited a Border Patrol station about nine miles from the Rio Grande, talked to some immigration activists and legal service providers, posed for press photos back at the airport, and departed for Los Angeles before 1 p.m. Even the choice of El Paso was pure theatrics. Instead of going to the epicenter of the crisis, on the other end of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley, Harris reportedly chose El Paso because that’s where the Trump administration first implemented its short-lived family separation policy. Politics, not the harsh realities on the border, was her motivation.

Notably, directly across the border from El Paso is one of the most dangerous cities in the world — Ciudad Juárez. Any migrant with any sense at all would totally avoid crossing into the U.S. there.

As for why she avoided other border areas? “The reason she did not go to the Rio Grande Valley is that’s where the Biden cages are,” Texas Senator Ted Cruz asserted. “That’s where you see cage after cage after cage of little boys and little girls on the floor, no mats, no cots, side-by-side, one after the other after the other, wrapped in reflective emergency blankets. That’s where you see facilities with the rate of COVID positivity of 10%.”

Nevertheless, in the face of a crisis that has seen 500,000 migrants illegally cross the border (elsewhere) since Harris took over as border czar (including a record-setting May), we can understand why she’s touchy. “Why did you decide that right now was the right time to make your first trip to the border?” the reporter asked. The correct answer is that Donald Trump announced his own trip to the border later this week — a trip that by the virtue of its happening will highlight that he secured the border and Team Biden-Harris has undone much of that work.

Instead, she lied about having been there already, knowing the media wouldn’t challenge her on it, and for good measure argued, “We inherited a tough situation.”

Harris did her level best to sound like this is all going according to plan, though. “I said back in March I was going to come to the border,” she insisted, “so this is not a new plan.”

One person has only so much time in the day, and she had to address more important issues, like marching in that pride parade earlier this month.

Harris has received due criticism from the Right and the Left for not visiting the border. How do you effectively address a crisis without firsthand knowledge and experience? And yet her visit there accomplished exactly nothing of substance, because the Harris-Biden goal is not to solve the crisis but to manage it for political gain.

The root cause of the immigration crisis? Biden and Harris have laid out the welcome mat.

Dems Panic Over ‘Defund the Police’ Advocacy

A Biden adviser tries to pin the spiking violent crime rate on Republicans.

Thomas Gallatin

Amid the skyrocketing violent crime rates across many of America’s largest cities, one of Joe Biden’s senior advisers, Cedric Richmond, sought to (wrongly) blame the root cause of the spike on two factors: guns and Republicans. In a Sunday interview with Fox News’s Chris Wallace, Richmond asserted:

Part of it is the plethora of guns that are flooding the streets of this country, and that’s something that the president wants to deal with. [President Biden] knows the toll that violence takes on families, and especially gun violence and what it’s doing over the last 18 months in this country.

Fact-check: It’s not “gun violence.”

When Wallace noted that Republicans say Democrats’ support for defunding the police has played a major factor in the growing violence, Richmond dubiously claimed that it was in fact Republicans who were guilty of defunding the police:

Let’s talk about who defunded the police. When we were in Congress last year trying to pass … an emergency relief plan for cities that were cash-strapped and laying off police and firefighters, it was the Republicans who objected to it. And in fact, they didn’t get funding until the American Rescue Plan, which our plan allowed state and local governments to replenish their police departments and do the other things that are needed.

As the saying goes, desperation is a stinky cologne. Richmond was desperately attempting to spin a ridiculous narrative in which Republicans are somehow the ones actually responsible for defunding the police. Yet Democrats around the country have for the last year literally cut funding for police as they exuberantly trumpeted the blatantly false Black Lives Matter lie of “systemic racism.” Over that same period, Republicans decried the vilification of law enforcement, repeatedly warning that it would only lead to exactly the current state of affairs — spiking violent crime.

Wallace, to his credit, pushed back against Richmond’s claim, stating, “I think the point that Senator [Lindsey] Graham and some Republicans make, beyond just the question of funding, is that there has been an attack on the police as if they are part of the problem, especially from some Democrats.”

And to Wallace’s point, over the weekend Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), a major defunding advocate, was revealed to have requested increased police presence at his home following the January 6 Capitol riot. When questioned as to why, a spokeswoman said he had “received threats.” Despite Bowman’s personal desire for increased police protection, he continued to publicly advocate for defunding the police. In a video event with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), he said, “I haven’t thought about an amount, but yes, I support the reallocation of resources from NYPD towards more social services.”

A record of Bowman’s social media feed also highlights the fact that he, at least publicly, is all in on defunding the police. Here are just two examples:

A system this cruel and inhumane can’t be reformed. Defund the police, and defund the system that’s terrorizing our communities.

We screamed defund the police so we could reallocate those resources toward something that focuses on true public health and public safety.

Aside from the blatant hypocrisy, Richmond’s attempt to blame Republicans for police defunding is an indication of rising panic within Democrat circles. Another indicator is a recent story from The New York Times, which notes that “progressives” are worried that “if the Democrat Party does not recognize what we have done here in New York, [it’s] going to have a problem in the midterm elections and … in the presidential elections.” The Times was referencing Eric Adams, a former police officer who campaigned against defunding the police and seems to have won the New York City mayoral race.

Expressing the same sentiment, The Washington Post is doing its best to cover for Democrats while at the same time acknowledging that “defund the police” is a liability: “Democrats pushed hard last year to rein in police. A rise in homicides is prompting a shift.”

The Washington Examiner reports that 2021 has seen a 41% increase in the number of police officers killed so far this year when compared to this time last year. This is another statistic Democrats would certainly love to avoid taking any responsibility for.

The truth is that it is Democrats who embraced the radical leftist anti-law enforcement “defund” movement following the death of George Floyd last year. They downplayed and dismissed violence, rioting, and theft associated with BLM protests in the name of fighting “systemic racism,” and now that the predictable rise in crime is becoming a major campaign issue, they’re trying to claim they didn’t mean what they said about defunding the police.

Dems’ Racist ‘Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations’

The brutal execution of two Hispanics gets little MSM attention because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

Arnold Ahlert

On June 19 in Chicago, during a celebration of both Juneteenth and Puerto Rican Day, 24-year-old Gyovanny Arzuaga and his 25-year-old girlfriend, Yasmin Perez, were pulled or fell out of their car and shot at point-blank range. Arzuaga, hit in the head, hip, and thigh, was pronounced dead that night. Perez was shot in the neck and died last Tuesday. Their execution was reportedly precipitated by a minor accident in which the couple rear-ended a parked car. The occupants got out and attacked them. They leave behind two children. The shooter is still at large.

This is the most detailed video of the incident, which begins at the 6:20 mark, and it clearly shows a black man shooting Arzuaga. YouTube has already pulled the video for violating community standards due to “violent or graphic content.” And in a development that should shock no one, the mainstream media quickly moved on.

It doesn’t take much of an imagination to envision what kind of reaction that same media would have had if the couple were black and the shooter was white. Much like any narrative that accrues to the interests of those intent upon dividing Americans by race, the coverage would have been unrelenting and peppered with commentary by self-purported “experts” trumpeting the “systemic” racism that precipitated it, intermixed with the broad-brushing of anyone who would challenge their premises as a supporter of white supremacy. Moreover, upon capture of the perpetrator, the cacophony demanding the incident be treated as a hate crime would be deafening.

Here, the silence is even more deafening — and far more indicative. Not just of the rank double standard with which Americans have grown wearily familiar, but something far darker. Why have the media moved on so quickly? Where are the same Democrat leaders who knelt in silence for eight minutes and 46 seconds to mark the length of time Derek Chauvin pinned his knee on the neck of George Floyd? Where is BLM? Where are the calls for hate crime charges when a black man murders a Hispanic couple?

The answers to those questions might be clearer given the broader perspective: That same weekend in Chicago, 54 people were shot and seven were killed. Even more tragic, there’s nothing particularly outstanding about that reality. Every weekend in Chicago — and other Democrat-controlled cities — shootings and murder are a routine occurrence. Just as routine, the overwhelming percentage of victims and perpetrators are black.

Thus, the most likely reason leftists and their corporate media apparatchiks have moved on is because a certain level of murder and mayhem perpetrated by mostly young black males — many of whom are affiliated with Chicago’s 55 known gangs and their 117,000 members — is to be expected.

In short, the American Left fully embraces the soft bigotry of low expectations — and high casualties — on steroids.

In 2009, former Attorney General Eric Holder accused America of being a “nation of cowards” when it comes to discussing race. Perhaps that’s because Democrats and their media enablers are “hands up, don’t shoot” revisionists who make honest conversations impossible.

Even now the Biden administration insists the “most persistent and lethal threats” to America are white supremacists and militia “extremists.” Yet according to the left-wing Anti-Defamation League (ADL), right-wing domestic extremists killed approximately 116 people from 2018 though 2020. By contrast, in Chicago alone, where police say gang members commit 75% to 80% of the city’s homicides, there were a total of 1,810 murders during the same three years. Assuming police stats are accurate, gangs — the substantial majority of which are black and Hispanic — committed between 1,350 and 1,448 of those murders.

Just as telling, the overwhelming majority of those murders are also ignored by the media. Exceptions center around the execution of children, but the media remain behind the curve there as well: Ten children aged 15 or younger have been murdered in Chicago so far this year, compared to three murdered during the same time period in 2020. “I don’t understand how we are not as a city absolutely outraged,” stated leftist activist Reverend Michael Pfleger.

What’s not to understand? The stench of progressive hypocrisy, whereby the only black lives that matter are those that are politically useful, is impossible to ignore. And who does the reverend, along with countless other leftists, think will bear the brunt of the carnage precipitated by leftist efforts to defund police, end cash bail, or allow those who perpetrated looting, arson, and rioting to avoid any consequences for their crimes?

Having a genuine conversation about race would require acknowledging that black Americans commit crime in percentages far in excess of their percentage in the nation’s population. It would require acknowledging a large part of that criminality can be attributed to the devastating percentage of fatherless households in black communities. And it would also require acknowledging that for the last 55 years, Democrats have absolved black Americans of virtually all personal responsibility in exchange for unquestioning loyalty.

Yet what could be more condescending than Democrats viewing black Americans as so ideologically monolithic that our current president insists one isn’t “genuinely” black if one doesn’t support that party? What could be more racist than insisting black Americans are incapable of taking control of their own lives, even to the point where they are unable to secure voter ID — or even to the point where a certain level of criminal behavior must be tolerated?

What is the Democrat Party’s push for “equity” all about other than the implication that black Americans are incapable of achieving success based on meritocracy? Why are any Americans tolerating the Democrat Party’s current agenda, which posits the only way to “make things right” for black Americans is to demonize white Americans — brought to us by the same Democrat Party that demonized black Americans with the KKK and Jim Crow?

The contemptible status quo whereby victims like Gyovanny Arzuaga and Yasmin Perez are memory-holed for failing to advance the leftist narrative of systemic racism is abhorrent. In less than two weeks, they have become statistics — even as George Floyd has been elevated to the status of national martyr.

Why? “The retelling of the black American journey as a narrative of victimhood rather than victory is the central strategy in painting the American experiment as a failure in need of a Marxist overhaul,” black American columnist Jason Whitlock asserts. “America’s global elites prefer China and the Communist Chinese Party.”

In short, promoting systemic racism and black victimhood is about the acquisition and maintenance of power by any means necessary.

For more than half a century, black Americans have overwhelmingly voted for Democrats, even as those same Democrats insist the nation remains systemically racist. At the very best, that would suggest Democrats are monumentally inept.

At worst? Perhaps it isn’t systemic racism black Americans should worry about. Maybe they should be more concerned with systemic dependency. Systemic dependency cultivated in their communities by Democrats and their elitist enablers — for decades.

By the time this is published, another weekend will have passed in Chicago. Barring a miracle, scores more residents — mostly black — will be shot. Some will be killed.

Systemic racism? More like business as usual — fully enabled by Democrats.

Biden DOJ Declares War on Honest Elections

In the first of what he promises to be many lawsuits, AG Merrick Garland goes after Georgia’s modest electoral reform law.

Douglas Andrews

On Friday, Joe Biden’s Department of Justice officially declared war on honest elections. It did so by way of a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Merrick Garland against Georgia’s recently passed voting reform act, also known as Senate Bill 202. And the AG vowed that this suit is only the start.

“The right of all eligible citizens to vote is the central pillar of our democracy, the right from which all other rights ultimately flow,” said a disingenuous Garland. Apparently, no one told him that we live in a republic, not a democracy. Undeterred, he rambled on: “This lawsuit is the first step of many we are taking to ensure that all eligible voters can cast a vote; that all lawful votes are counted; and that every voter has access to accurate information.”

It’s evidently worth noting that Georgia’s law does exactly these things.

Still, we suppose it was only a matter of time. After all, at the time of its passage back in March, Joe Biden himself called Georgia’s modest effort to clean up its electoral act “un-American” and “an atrocity.” And someone must’ve also told him to toss out the Jim Crow smear as often as possible, because he called it “Jim Crow on steroids” and “Jim Crow in the 21st century,” and said it “makes Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle.” Whatever that means.

Biden also made other patently false claims about the law — for example, that it would “end voting at five o’clock when working people are just getting off work” or “ends voting hours early so working people can’t cast their vote after their shift is over.” Taken together, these ill-informed attacks were a disgraceful bit of demagoguery, and they ultimately earned him four Pinocchios from the Washington Post’s lefty “fact-checker.”

The central claim of the lawsuit, according to Biden’s DOJ, is that it’s “intended to deny or abridge the right of Black Georgians to vote.” As the Wall Street Journal editorial board writes, “The federal complaint is as transparently political as its argument is unconvincing. When Covid hit in the run-up to Georgia’s 2020 primary, state officials decided to send every active voter an unsolicited application for a mail ballot. The new law bans this practice.”

As proof of its racial animus, the feds point to an interview in which Georgia House Speaker David Ralston says that massive bulk-mail balloting could “drive up turnout” and be “extremely devastating to Republicans.”

And Ralston did indeed say that, but he also said that the Democrats’ radical upending of electoral processes threatened the security of the vote as well as the privacy of the voter. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp was quick to respond:

This lawsuit is born out of the lies and misinformation the Biden administration has pushed against Georgia’s Election Integrity Act from the start. Joe Biden, Stacey Abrams, and their allies tried to force an unconstitutional elections power grab through Congress — and failed. Now, they are weaponizing the U.S. Department of Justice to carry out their far-left agenda that undermines election integrity and empowers federal government overreach in our democracy.

George Washington University law professor and Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley called the case “dubious,” noting that the law “has great overlap with other states like [Biden’s home state of] Delaware.” In addition, Turley correctly noted that voter identification laws are now overwhelmingly popular with voters — so much so that even race-baiters like Stacey Abrams now favor them.

In short, the Biden DOJ may live to regret these racially incendiary actions.

UFO Report Confirms Aliens Wear Tinfoil Hats

The DNI report is a military shot across Putin’s and Xi’s bows.

Mark Alexander

Back in June 1947, Foster Ranch foreman William “Mac” Brazel noticed some odd debris. It was located about 30 miles from Roswell Army Air Field in New Mexico. Original reports of an unidentified flying object were sensational, but as it turned out, what Mac discovered were the remains of a weather balloon. However, for that remote area of New Mexico, the finding certainly fed a UFO tourism boom!

Fact is, humans have been fascinated with the sky, and things in it, for all of recorded history. And in this digital age, when virtually everyone on the planet is carrying a camera as a feature of their mobile devices, word about UFOs on or above earth spreads rapidly. However, despite the exponential proliferation of cameras and enormous increase in photo resolution, nothing but blurry and shaky low-resolution images of suspected UFOs have emerged since the 1950s.

However, after some high-profile military tracking reports became public, like video from Navy pilots chasing “Tic Tac” sightings, last year former President Donald Trump signed off on the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021, which included an order to release a report making public what the government knows about UFOs, now called Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP).

In March, former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe fueled the excitement about the report when he declared: “Frankly, there are a lot more sightings than have been made public. We are talking about objects that have been seen by Navy or Air Force pilots, or have been picked up by satellite imagery, that frankly engage in actions that are difficult to explain. Movements that are hard to replicate, that we don’t have the technology for, or are traveling at speeds that exceed the sound barrier without a sonic boom.”

Last week, Joe Biden’s current DNI finally released his “Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena.”

The report findings were substantially less than a “giant leap for mankind.” Much to the disappointment of many sky-watchers, as The New York Times concluded earlier this month from preliminary findings, there is ZERO evidence that any of the 144 UAP reports over the past two decades subjected to serious review were of extraterrestrial origin.

The Times also asserted that the report affirmed the observed targets studied were not associated with “American military or other advanced U.S. government technology.” Reading between the unclassified lines of the report as now released, allow me to conclude, “horse pucky.” To the contrary, the released report lists five possible explanations for UAPs, including airborne clutter, natural atmospheric phenomena, U.S.-developed technology, technology developed by our foreign adversaries, and the unexplained.

Regarding the “unexplained,” The Hill concludes that “the vast majority of UFO cases remain unexplained,” and the report “stops short of ruling out extraterrestrial life.”

For the record, I believe that the vast majority of verified sightings are, in fact, U.S.-developed technology and that of our adversaries. To that end, in a fireside chat about that technology earlier this year, I posited that “unexplained” sightings, such as the “Tic Tac” reports in 2004 and 2015, are the result of DARPA-type R&D programs — in this case an energy weapon with an electronic signature that can be altered, which explains both the battle group cruiser radar intercepts and the F-18E ATFLIR intercepts. Recall that the 2004 cruiser radar intercept had been occurring for days before the flight to investigate. Similarly in 2015, Navy pilots indicated they had been seeing these intercepts “every time they went up.” (There is good video analysis on the “Tic Tac” sightings by a former Navy fighter pilot.)

What is the endgame with what I believe has been intentionally leaked, and what has been revealed in the DNI report about UAP intercepts? My best guess would be military shots across Putin’s and Xi’s bows.

Moving forward, the epicenter of UFO conspiracy theory is now sharply focused on “Area 51,” a highly classified Air Force testing facility located northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. You may recall the 2019 social media prank post “Storm Area 51” that ended up attracting tin-hat true believers. As for recent “sightings,” even otherwise erudite political commentators occasionally take leave of their senses claiming common jet contrails from adjacent aircraft, a familiar site to all pilots, are actually alien craft encounters.

Finally, in an ironic turn of events, SpaceX competitor Blue Origin will be launching a bonafide alien back into space. Actually, its owner, the wealthiest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, announced that he will be a passenger on the first crewed flight. That news immediately prompted a petition, “Do not allow Jeff Bezos to return to Earth,” which, as of this writing, has more than 130,000 signatures!

SCOTUS: Unions Can’t Violate Property Rights

The Court struck down a California law permitting union organizers free access to farmers’ land.

Thomas Gallatin

In a 6-3 ruling last week, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a decades-old California law and in so doing restored farmers’ property rights — specifically, the right to exclude organized labor advocates from accessing farm property without permission. It’s not just a win for property rights; it’s a defeat for labor unions.

At issue was a 1975 California regulation that had granted union organizers the right to access private farmland for the express purpose of seeking to organize farm workers. “Two growers in California challenged a 1975 regulation by the state’s Agricultural Labor Relations Board that requires farmers to allow union organizers onto their property three hours a day for 120 days each year,” The Wall Street Journal reports. “They argued that the regulation was equivalent to a time-limited government easement and thus constituted what’s known as a ‘per se’ physical taking of property.”

Writing for the Court majority, Chief Justice John Roberts observed that core constitutional considerations were at play. “The right to exclude is ‘one of the most treasured’ rights of property ownership,” he wrote. “Accordingly, the growers’ complaint states a claim for an uncompensated taking in violation of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments.”

Unsurprisingly, union leaders lamented the ruling. “You double down on that exclusion and discrimination by saying that a state law that’s been in existence for almost 50 years is not respectful of the growers’ rights,” complained Mario Martinez, general counsel for the United Farmworkers Union. “But there was no discussion of the workers who are essential workers to feed America. There was no discussion of their rights at all.”

The issue of how the Constitution defines property rights is what is essentially at the heart of the case. Those on the Left lift the concerns of public interests over private interests and in turn seek to limit individual property rights.

The Court’s ruling has challenged such an ever-encroaching view. “Governments have increasingly been conscripting private citizens into carrying out their policy agenda,” argue the Journal’s editors. “The Court’s conservative majority has repudiated one front of this assault and dealt a major victory for property rights.”

Finally, on a directly related topic, there’s the issue of the legal status of many of these seasonal farmer workers. Of course, that question was not in play in this court case, but this episode does serve to expose the Left’s generally low view of private property rights and national boundaries in general. This explains Joe Biden’s essentially open-borders immigration “enforcement” policy. If Biden truly cared about protecting Americans’ property rights — or American workers, for that matter — he’d be fully invested in securing the border.

Trump Draws a Crowd in Ohio

He focused on how important it is for the GOP to take back Congress in 2022. But there’s more.

Douglas Andrews

You wouldn’t know it by the lack of media coverage, but former President Donald Trump was back in campaign mode this weekend for the first time since leaving office. He wasn’t holding a 2024 campaign rally, though. First things first. When he greeted the crowd at Ohio’s Lorain County Fairgrounds, about 40 miles southwest of Cleveland, he told them they were attending “the very first rally of the 2022 election.” He then vowed, “We’re going to take back the House, and we’re going to take back the Senate. We have no choice.”

The event was dubbed a “Save America” rally and was the first of three expected public appearances for Trump. Next up will be a trip to the U.S.-Mexico border on Wednesday at the invitation of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, followed by a rally in Sarasota, Florida, on July 3.

You can watch the rally here. (Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan’s remarks during the first 5:30 are well worth it. From there, you might skip ahead to the 55:00 mark, when Trump takes the stage.)

Trump spent plenty of time on a topic we’ve been watching closely: the woke leadership of our Armed Forces. “The Biden administration issued new rules pushing twisted critical race theory,” he said. “Our generals and our admirals are now focused more on this nonsense than they are on our enemies.”

He continued: “You see these generals lately on television? They are woke. … The military brass have become weak and ineffective leaders. And our enemies are watching and they’re laughing.”

Trump’s choice of Ohio for his first rally was understandable. He carried the swing state by a comfortable eight-point margin in 2020, and he obviously feels at home there. But he was also there to throw his support behind a former White House aide, Max Miller, who’s mounting a primary challenge to an Ohio congressman who voted to impeach Trump. As the Columbus Dispatch reports:

Trump not only attacked Democrats, he also took aim at members of his own party, including Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, a northeastern Ohio congressman who was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach him on a charge of inciting the attack on the Capitol.

The Ohio Republican Party’s governing board voted in May to censure Gonzalez and called on him to resign. Weeks earlier, Trump hit back at Gonzalez by throwing his support to Max Miller, who is running against Gonzalez in next year’s GOP primary. Miller worked for Trump on the campaign trail and in the White House, and Saturday’s rally was held in part to promote Miller’s candidacy.

Of course, Trump also unloaded on Joe Biden “squandering all this hard-earned respect that we have — or had — bowing down to our enemies and embarrassing our country on the world stage.”

And he told the hard truth about his running mate’s suddenly urgent visit to the non-crisis border town of El Paso: “Kamala Harris, your vice president, only went to the border yesterday for one simple reason — that I announced that I was going.”

As has been his practice, Trump made no commitment about his 2024 plans. He railed against the 2020 election results though, calling it “the crime of the century” and saying that he’d “already won the presidency twice; it’s possible we’ll have to win it a third time.”

Can Trump still draw a crowd, even to Middle-of-Nowhere, Ohio? You tell us.

Re: The Left: “The same party that didn’t bother asking Americans how they felt about transgender sports or voter ID laws didn’t run radical race theory by them either. Political futures: “For decades, going back at least as far as the 1973 Roe v. We have a 3-3-3 Court,’ including three centrists of varying degrees of malleability. Unless fundamental changes are made that cut to the core of the modern conservative legal movement, conservatives will remain disappointed. For the record: “Biden’s central message is that crime is up because of guns. That’s odd. When a police officer discharges his gun and kills a criminal, it’s always the fault of a ‘racist cop.’ But when a thug kills a police officer or another person, it’s the gun’s fault.” —Gary Bauer

The BIG Lie II: “This administration does not take their cues from Republican criticism, nor from the former President of the United States of America. We have said, over a number of different occasions — and the vice president has said, over the course — over the last three months, that she would go to the border. She has been before. She would go again. She would go when it was appropriate, when it made sense.” —Harris spokesperson Symone Sanders

California’s new rattlesnake infestation is punishment for socialism, says rabbi
California and other states across the south-west are suffering a historic drought which is bringing with it all of the obvious hardships expected when “the skies above your head shall be copper and the earth under you iron” (Deuteronomy 28:23). the current drought has gone one further, exacerbating relations between normally easy-going Californians and the wildlife that lives in close proximity. In a disturbing development, snakes are increasingly finding their way into urban environments in search of refuge from the rising temperatures and relief from the drying landscape while also being hard-pressed to range further to find food. In particular, Californians are encountering rattlesnakes with increasing frequency.

Physicists induce motionless quantum state in largest object yet
“Stationary” has very different meanings at quantum and real-world scales – an object that looks perfectly still to us is actually made up of atoms that are buzzing and bouncing around. Now, scientists have managed to slow down the atoms almost to a complete stop in the largest macro-scale object yet. The temperature of a given object is directly tied to the motion of its atoms – basically, the hotter something is, the more its atoms jiggle around. By extension, there’s a point where the object is so cold that its atoms come to a complete standstill, a temperature known as absolute zero (-273.15 °C, -459.67 °F).

Thomas Jefferson vs. Joe Biden on right to bear arms | WND by Chuck Norris

We already know that violent crime rates have been soaring in major cities across the U.S. since the call to defund police departments and denigrate local law enforcement. That wasn’t difficult to call. It’s simple math: less law enforcement, more violent crime. Shocker.

This past Wednesday, Joe Biden told cities and states they can use their portions of the $350 billion in direct aid from the COVID-19 rescue plan to improve public safety efforts, including hiring more police officers, as USA Today reported.

The bad news is that Mr. Biden decided to simultaneously enforce more gun control and attack Americans’ Second Amendment rights to bear arms.

Fox News reported on Friday, “Nearly the entire Senate Republican caucus signed on to a letter Thursday demanding a withdrawal of a proposed ATF rule that would regulate some pistol-stabilizing braces.”

“The way the proposed rule is written makes clear that ATF intends to bring the most common uses of the most widely possessed stabilizing braces within the purview of the NFA,” 48 Republican senators wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland and ATF Acting Director Marvin Richardson in the letter, which was originally obtained by The Reload.

“Doing so would turn millions of law-abiding Americans into criminals overnight, and would constitute the largest executive branch-imposed gun registration and confiscation scheme in American history.”

Lara Trump was spot on in her commentary on this past week’s “Fox & Friends,” when she said: “Our forefathers, our Founding Fathers, put the Second Amendment in there so that we as the people could fight back against a tyrannical government so that we could protect ourselves. They are trying to do away with that. They know full well that it is not the legal gun owners, the tens of millions of us out here in America, that are committing these crimes. These crimes are committed with illegal guns. And if we had more police on the street, if they hadn’t demoralized every cop in America, if they hadn’t called for defunding the police, we probably would not see the crime skyrocketing like we do right now under Joe Biden.”

Bringing up the Founding Fathers made me think of how different they were in comparison to the present Oval Office occupant, especially regarding citizens’ right to bear arms. It’s particularly timely to bring up now because it’s Fourth of July week.

Almost everyone knows that Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. But did you know that he also wrote a Declaration of Arms?

A year prior to the Continental Congress’ adoption and ratification of the Declaration of Independence, the members were signing a declaration to pick up arms against England. And Jefferson was again the primary author.

Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence when he was only 33 years old, the youngest member of the Continental Congress. He penned the Declaration of Arms when he was just 32 years old.

Jefferson’s literary genius was apparent to John Adams, who described him this way in 1822: “Mr. Jefferson came into Congress in June, 1775, and brought with him a reputation for literature, science, and a happy talent of composition. Writings of his were handed about, remarkable for the peculiar felicity of expression. Though a silent member in Congress, he was so prompt, frank, explicit, and decisive upon committees and in conversation – not even Samuel Adams was more so – that he soon seized upon my heart. …”

The History Channel explained how on July 6, 1775, just a single day after our founders issued their Olive Branch Petition to King George III, Congress gave just reason for “the causes and necessity of their taking up arms.” In it, they wrote they would rather “die free men rather than live as slaves.”

Four months earlier, in April 1775, patriot resistance had led to the “shot that was heard around the world” fired off in Lexington and Concord. Now, it was time for our founders and Congress to square off against the king himself, so they initiated the Declaration of Arms.

Its official and lengthier name is: “A Declaration by the Representatives of the United Colonies of North-America, Now Met in Congress at Philadelphia, Setting Forth the Causes and Necessity of Their Taking Up Arms.” It was primarily the work of Thomas Jefferson and John Dickinson – the former wrote a first draft and the latter the final draft.

It is fascinating how the 1775 Declaration of Arms begins in much the same way as 1776’s Declaration of Independence, noting how human life and our unalienable rights are from God, and no man has the right to dismiss or usurp them.

Listen to how Jefferson began this other self-evident truth: “If it was possible for men, who exercise their reason to believe, that the divine Author of our existence intended a part of the human race to hold an absolute property in, and an unbounded power over others, marked out by his infinite goodness and wisdom, as the objects of a legal domination never rightfully resistible, however severe and oppressive, the inhabitants of these colonies might at least require from the parliament of Great-Britain some evidence, that this dreadful authority over them, has been granted to that body. But a reverence for our Creator, principles of humanity, and the dictates of common sense, must convince all those who reflect upon the subject, that government was instituted to promote the welfare of mankind, and ought to be administered for the attainment of that end.”

The Declaration of Arms then goes on to say that the patriots labored in vain to negotiate peacefully with the Crown, though they would not give up continuing to try and do so.

“Fruitless were all the entreaties, arguments, and eloquence of an illustrious band of the most distinguished peers, and commoners, who nobly and strenuously asserted the justice of our cause, to stay, or even to mitigate the heedless fury with which these accumulated and unexampled outrages were hurried on.”

Initially, inhabitants of Boston showed compliance “having deposited their arms with their own magistrate,” but it only led to the detainment of “the greatest part of the inhabitants in the town.”

The consequences were dire: “By this perfidy wives are separated from their husbands, children from their parents, the aged and the sick from their relations and friends, who wish to attend and comfort them; and those who have been used to live in plenty and even elegance, are reduced to deplorable distress.”

So, because of the “oppressive measures,” “several threatening expressions,” “killings … hostilities,” “butchering of our countryman,” “our ships and vessels are seized; the necessary supplies of provisions are intercepted, and … spread destruction and devastation” by the Crown upon the “United Colonies,” the “indignation of the Americans was roused.”

From this point onward the Declaration of Arms follows Jefferson’s solo draft: “We are reduced to the alternative of choosing an unconditional submission to the tyranny of irritated ministers, or resistance by force. – The latter is our choice. – We have counted the cost of this contest, and find nothing so dreadful as voluntary slavery. – Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them, if we basely entail hereditary bondage upon them.”

The following words are almost poetic in their passion: “Our cause is just. Our union is perfect. Our internal resources are great, and, if necessary, foreign assistance is undoubtedly attainable. – We gratefully acknowledge, as signal instances of the Divine favor towards us, that his Providence would not permit us to be called into this severe controversy, until we were grown up to our present strength, had been previously exercised in warlike operation, and possessed of the means of defending ourselves. With hearts fortified with these animating reflections, we most solemnly, before God and the world, declare, that, exerting the utmost energy of those powers, which our beneficent Creator hath graciously bestowed upon us, the arms we have been compelled by our enemies to assume, we will, in defiance of every hazard, with unabating firmness and perseverance, employ for the preservation of our liberties; being with one mind resolved to die freemen rather than to live slaves.”

Jefferson concluded, “In our own native land, in defense of the freedom that is our birthright, and which we ever enjoyed till the late violation of it – for the protection of our property, acquired solely by the honest industry of our fore-fathers and ourselves, against violence actually offered, we have taken up arms. We shall lay them down when hostilities shall cease on the part of the aggressors, and all danger of their being renewed shall be removed, and not before.”

Is it any surprise that this Declaration of Arms combined with the Declaration of Independence would eventually lead to the Second Amendment of our Bill of Rights?

Those simple and succinct 27 words could not be any clearer: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Any questions, Joe?

Happy Birthday, America! God has certainly shed His grace on thee!

Following the Faithful — Grace to You Blog

Nobody wants to be led off a cliff. But that’s a very real possibility for anyone who follows the wrong leaders. Jesus said as much concerning the religious leaders of His time on earth: “They are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit” (Matthew 15:14). Following unfit leaders is a sure road to ruin.
