We Fear People Because We Do Not Fear God
Deuteronomy 1:17; 5:29; Ecclesiastes 12:13; Matthew 10:28; Luke 12:5
We fear man so much because we fear God so little. One fear cures another. When man’s terror scares you, turn your thoughts to the wrath of God.

The Church in Christ as Eve Was in Adam
Genesis 2:21–22; John 14:20; 15:4; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:3–4
The Church is in Christ as Eve was in Adam. Indeed, by grace we are all of us in Christ and in his Church, as by nature we are in those our first parents. God made Eve of the rib of Adam. And his Church he frames out of the very flesh, the very wounded and bleeding side of the Son of Man.
Ritzema, E. (2013). 300 Quotations for Preachers from the Reformation. Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. – Ephesians 5:31-32
Scripture reading: Genesis 2:18-25
God not only created Eve from Adam’s rib, but God officiated the very first wedding ceremony when He walked Eve down the aisle, as it were, and presented her to Adam. God created a woman to solve the problem of Adam’s loneliness, “It is not good that man should be alone.” God created a help-meet for Adam to fulfill the cultural mandate “Be fruitful and multiply…”
The concept of “one flesh” is more than the emotional and physical aspect of marriage between husband and wife (although it includes that). The “more” is described in verse 32 “This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.” The more” of the marriage union is to reflect the oneness, the intimacy of the marriage of Christ and His Bride, the Church. Already from the dawn of creation, God instituted marriage not only for the propagation of the human race, the furtherance of the kingdom of God, or even the enrichment of the lives entering this state, but the “more” of marriage. Marriage is a symbol of the union of Christ and His Church.
Therefore, marriage is a mystery because it reveals something far greater. God instituted marriage between one man and one woman to reflect the covenant relationship between Christ and His Church. Marriage is therefore ultimately for God’s glory! Whether single or married, is this true of our view and goal of marriage?
Suggestions for prayer
May our view of marriage reflect the covenantal relationship between Christ and His Church to the praise and glory of our God.

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. (2 Peter 2:9)
The godly are tempted and tried. That is not true faith which is never put to the test. But the godly are delivered out of their trials, and that not by chance, nor by secondary agencies, but by the Lord Himself. He personally undertakes the office of delivering those who trust Him. God loves the godly or godlike, and He makes a point of knowing where they are and how they fare.
Sometimes their way seems to be a labyrinth, and they cannot imagine how they are to escape from threatening danger. What they do not know, their Lord knows. He knows whom to deliver, and when to deliver, and how to deliver. He delivers in the way which is most beneficial to the godly, most crushing to the tempter, and most glorifying to Himself. We may leave the “how” with the Lord and be content to rejoice in the fact that He will, in some way or other, bring His own people through all the dangers, trials, and temptations for this mortal life to His own right hand in glory.
This day it is not for me to pry into my Lord’s secrets but patiently to wait His time, knowing this, that though I know nothing, my heavenly Father knows.
I recently started a garden. I’ve been growing tomatoes, peppers, green beans and squash. Well, I’ve been trying to grow those things. I thought I should probably have some idea how to produce my own food just in case the manure continues to hit the fan here in the good ol’ U. S. of A. If it does, the most important thing I’ve learned from gardening is that I’m going to starve. It’s not that I couldn’t grow anything, it’s just that I couldn’t grow much.
Considering that I planted late, the tomatoes and the green peppers did great. But the beans turned out to be bush beans instead of pole beans and ended up in the shadow of the tomato plants, so they didn’t produce. One day I walked out to the garden to find the squash shriveling up! It got the same amount of water, light and organic bug/fungus stuff as the rest of the garden, so I don’t know what happened. The leaves eventually rotted away, along with one sick little squash fetus who just wasn’t meant to be. Bad plant, bad fruit. I guess that’s just the way it goes. It’s downright biblical.
In Matthew 7:18 we read that a healthy tree doesn’t bear bad fruit. Someone who hasn’t spent much time in church may read that and be surprised that the Bible offers helpful gardening tips. However, for those of us who have heard countless sermons on how we’re failing to live up to God’s wonderful plan for our lives, we know better. Christians hear Scripture like that and we don’t think about oranges or apples; we start thinking about our sin. We know all too well about the bad fruit: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy and the list goes on. Sure, we also think about the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, but it doesn’t take an expert fruit inspector to discern that we Christian trees are bearing some nasty produce.
Still, while each Sunday the preacher reminds us of our bad apples and sour grapes, we are offered forgiveness in the cross of Christ. But even then, just as we breathe a sigh of relief and cautiously approach to dip our roots into the healing and nourishing water of life, along comes the guilt kicker, “After all that Jesus has done for you…” Sure, salvation is a free gift, but now that we’re forgiven we should step up the effort a bit this week to show our gratitude. Or worse, the pastor tells us that the sin we just confessed is reason to question our salvation (a personal experience of mine as a young new believer). After all, faith without works is dead, so you better put down the bong and get about the business of proving you’re a real Christian or else you’re gonna get it!
Of course, it is true that we should be grateful for our salvation and glorify God with our actions, but failing to acknowledge ALL that Jesus has done (and does) for us strikes at the root of both gratitude and holy living. Moving straight to the carnal effort to give God our all seems to make sense, so we thank God for the forgiveness and get back to work. The trees walk away determined to prove their love for God by bringing him some fruit next week instead of faithfully staying planted by the water to abide and imbibe life. It won’t be long before the trees stand fearfully ashamed before the fruit inspector again.
What’s wrong with this picture? Where’s the fruit? It’s not that we don’t care. It’s not a lack of trying. We’d make bushels of fruit if we knew how. And it’s not because the preachers haven’t told us over and over again about how rank bad fruit is and about the value of good fruit in our lives. Week after week we’re urged to produce the produce, but something is missing. As Matthew 7:18 tells us, the problem isn’t with the fruit… it’s the root. Jesus makes this even clearer when he says, “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad” (Matthew 12:33). But how? How do we make our trees good?
The answer is so simple that we don’t trust it. God makes trees good, but our problem is that we haven’t reckoned them as such.
Here’s the deal, if you have even the flimsiest faith in Jesus to save your sorry butt, it’s proof that God chose you from eternity to be His child. It only takes faith the size of a mustard seed and you can throw your mountain of sin into the ocean of God’s love and forgiveness. Now, I haven’t planted any mustard seeds in my garden, but I hear them seeds is pretty small. And that little faith you have was planted in you before time began. It’s an eternal done deal. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:3-7). Geerhardus Vos put it this way, “The best proof that He will never cease to love us lies in that He never began.”
Now, you may ask what any of that has to do with good fruit, and my answer is quite literally, everything! The fact of God beginning something is the guarantee that He will finish it (Philippians 1:6). Because of His great love for you, the Father planted his seed of faith in you, and faith in His loving work in you is what will yield a harvest of love and holiness in your life.
Attempts to motivate God’s children with guilt, shame and fear incite them to declare that God is a “hard man.” As a result, they bury God’s gift of grace in a faithless grave instead of planting it in the good soil of trust that their Father will bring the work he started to fruitful completion. The fruitless effort of guilt preachers veils the eyes of believers from the glory of the gospel of grace and inhibits faith in the finished work of Christ, and sanctification suffers. It puts fruit trees in a dark cave and shows them the fruit they should be producing in an effort to get them to blossom. The preacher who resorts to guilt, shame or fear unwittingly risks standing in the place of the accuser of the brethren thereby subjectively reinstating enmity with God in the minds and hearts of his children. Enmity with God is friendship with the world. This is in direct opposition to Scripture’s witness that believers are covenant friends of God. It introduces disease into an otherwise healthy tree and hacks at the root of faith. Instead of trusting God’s nature in believers to take its course, these misguided preachers encourage unhealthy introspection as the route to holiness. However, the good seed can’t grow when it’s constantly being dug up in order to examine its growth!
Instead, the preacher should proclaim the truth that believers are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and a people for God’s own possession. Not that Christians should be these things with greater effort, but that they are these by faith in God’s grace and mercy. Preachers of the gospel set good trees in the brilliant sun of God’s love to be nourished by his warm rays, stretch toward him, draw the living water of the Spirit of Christ through the root of faith, and bear good fruit. If gratitude should motivate good works, give God’s people the only thing for which to be truly grateful. If we reflect Christ’s glory in holy living as we see him as he is, then the preacher must make Christ clearly visible. Everything that God has required of us has already been given to us in Christ. “Whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified” (Romans 8:30). It is eternally finished!
All is ours with even the flimsiest faith because it all depends on God’s eternal done deal. What joy and fruit awaits! If we simply dare to believe the good news, we will say with Spurgeon “While I regarded God as a tyrant, I thought sin a trifle. But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought that God was hard, I found it easy to sin. But when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could have rebelled against One who loved me so and sought my good.”
“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.” Psalm 107:29-31
In Luke 8:22-25 we have a delightful story of Jesus in a storm. When evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” Feeling exhausted from a busy people-day, Jesus was soon asleep at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion.
Soon a huge storm arose. High waves began to break into the boat until it was nearly full of water. Frantically the disciples woke up Jesus, shouting,
“”Teacher, don’t you even care that we are going to drown?”
When he woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the water,
Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. And he asked them,
“Why are you so afraid? Do you still not have faith in me?”
What caused their fear? They focused on the problem and forgot the promise. Jesus had talked about arriving at the other side, hadn’t He?
Aren’t we like that too? You have no problem believing that God is with you, but since He’s doing nothing to calm the storm, you’ve concluded He doesn’t care. He’s asleep.
What promises in God’s word speak especially to your need? Keep saying these verses out loud. You will survive this storm and come out the better for it.
How did the disciples benefit from the storm? They experienced the power of Jesus in a brand new way. The same happens in our lives. Because of storms we get to know God’s character in a deeper way. How do we know God can meet us in every need unless we’ve experienced some extreme need. God is never too late to help us.
Father I thank you that you care about every detail of my life including this present storm.
If you have never walked in a relationship with Christ and if you want to know that He is in YOUR STORM, you can start today by committing and submitting your llife to him. You can start this with a simple prayer:
Lord, thank You for dying so we can be set free from all of guilt and sin — no matter how big or small. Your blood has erased all of our sin. Thank You so much! Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to you and ask you to come in as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen
“You can get anything – anything you ask for in prayer – if you believe” Matthew 21:22
God’s Word reminds us that we have not because we ask not (James 4:2). Jesus said,
“If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” John 15:7 (KJV).
A godly widow with six children was facing great stress. The family had eaten their last loaf of bread at the evening meal. The next morning, with no food in the house, the trusting mother set seven plates on the table.
“Now, children,” she said, gathering them around her, “we must ask God to supply our need.”
Just as she finished her prayer, one of the children shouted, “There’s the baker at the door.”
“I was stalled in the snow,” the baker said, after entering the house, “and I just stopped by to get warm. Do you need any bread this morning?”
“Yes,” said the mother, “but we have no money.”
“Do you mean to say you have no bread for these children?” he asked.
“Not a bit,” said the mother.
“Well,” said the baker, “you will soon have some.” Whereupon he returned to his wagon, picked up seven loaves and brought them into the house. Then he laid one on each plate.
“Mama!” one of the children cried out. “I prayed for bread, and God heard me and sent me bread.”
“And me!” chorused each of the children, feeling that God had answered personally.
God does not require us to have great faith. We are simply to have faith in a great God.
Bible Reading: Mark 11:20-26
I will continue to abide in Christ and have His Word abide in my heart, so that when needs arise today – whether large or small; physical, material or spiritual – I will choose to place my simple faith in God, knowing that He is willing and able to hear and answer prayer. I will also encourage others to join me in the great adventure of prayer.

Assurance without Regard to Circumstances
2 Corinthians 12:2–10; Hebrews 5:7
God sometimes marvellously raises the souls of his saints with some close and near approaches unto them—gives them a sense of his eternal love, a taste of the embraces of his Son and the inhabitation of the Spirit, without the least intervening disturbance; then this is their assurance. But this life is not a season to be always taking wages in. Our work is not yet done; we are not always to abide in this mount; we must down again into the battle—fight again, cry again, complain again. Shall the soul be thought now to have lost its assurance? Not at all. It had before assurance with joy, triumph, and exultation; it has it now, or may have, with wrestling, cries, tears, and supplications. And a man’s assurance may be as good, as true, when he lies on the earth with a sense of sin, as when he is carried up to the third heaven with a sense of love and foretaste of glory.

No Higher Stature Than Childhood
Matthew 18:4; 1 Corinthians 13:11
To me was shown no higher stature than childhood. Not, of course, that we should remain children in understanding; not that when we have become men, we should refuse to put away childish things; but that there should remain much of the child-character in us to the end.

She knows Democrats are to blame, so she desperately deflects.
“Hysteria,” she said. “Context,” she said. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez insists that the skyrocketing crime that’s alarming — and victimizing — more Americans all the time is little more than hysteria that lacks context.
“We are seeing these headlines about percentage increases,” said the ex-bartender formerly known as Sandy Cortez. “Now, I want to say that any amount of harm is unacceptable and too much, but I also want to make sure that this hysteria, you know, that this doesn’t drive a hysteria and that we look at these numbers in context so that we can make responsible decisions about what to allocate in that context.”
Remember, AOC represents a congressional district in New York City — a city where, Fox News reports, “shooting incidents and murders have risen 53% and 13% since the beginning of the year.” A city where, according to the New York Post, “rapes were up 41.7 percent and robberies were up 21.3 percent” year over year. A city that when the electoral dust settles will have elected a pro-Second Amendment cop to be its next mayor because crime is a huge issue for voters.
AOC says she wants context, so if that’s not enough, let’s give her some more.
After the death of George Floyd under the knee of Derek Chauvin — for which the former Minneapolis police officer was convicted in April and sentenced last Friday to 22.5 years — Democrats fomented a war on cops that included defunding police and Black Lives Matter and antifa riots, which directly led to the surge in crime in American cities.
Given that AOC is the “new face of the Democratic Party,” and given that she often leads the cries for defunding police from the brave outpost of her social media feed and doubly secured congressional office, she bears at least some responsibility for the rise in crime.
It’s not hysteria to be alarmed at a drastic increase in violence, including murder, all over the nation. It’s not hysteria to say that race-baiters are sowing division based on a false narrative of “systemic racism” through the Marxist bludgeoning tool of “Critical Race Theory,” and that the result of this bitter tale of oppression and victimization has stoked violent rage among black men in particular — all while Democrats point the finger at “white supremacists.” It’s not hysteria to be outraged by the fact there’s been a 41% increase in police officers killed in the line of duty this year.
“AOC is mocking ordinary people as ‘hysterical’ who are afraid of violent crime in their neighborhood: people who, unlike her, don’t have reams of private security,” noted lefty journalist Glenn Greenwald. “Yet she just acted to ensure $2 billion more in spending on the police that protects her.”
Meanwhile, if anyone knows hysteria, it’s AOC. She claimed she was “almost” “murdered” during the January 6 “insurrection” and says she’s been in therapy to overcome the “trauma” of it all. Members of Congress at the Capitol that day, she said, effectively “served in war.”
No less than famed Democrat strategist James Carville has argued that Democrats are the ones who are tough on crime, and that it’s Donald Trump’s fault that this is all happening. Other Democrats are likewise blaming Republicans.
Joe Biden, of course, says it’s a problem of “gun violence.” That’s false.
AOC has a different tack — pretending there’s not much to worry about if only “we look at these numbers in context.” Well, the context is damning for Democrats.
By refusing to hear the appeal of a lower-court ruling, the Roberts Court handed yet another victory to the Rainbow Mafia.
Remember that “strong conservative Supreme Court majority” people have been crowing about (or lamenting) ever since justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett were seated? Well, never mind.
As CNBC triumphantly reports, “The Supreme Court on Monday handed the LGBT rights movement another victory, declining to hear an appeal that challenged the rights of transgender students to use the bathroom of their choosing.”
In a textbook case of media framing, CNBC’s Dan Mangan wrote, “The use of bathrooms by transgender students and the acceptance of such students on school athletic teams has become a flashpoint for conservatives in recent years.”
A flashpoint for conservatives? The issue was never a flashpoint when it didn’t exist. And it didn’t exist until “progressives” and their Rainbow Mafia brethren made clear that there are simply no rights upon which they won’t attempt to trample by way of The Tyranny of the One.
At issue in this case, Gloucester County School Board v. Grimm, was whether the Equal Protection and Title IX rights of a female who “identified” as male were violated when the school assigned its boys to “boys” bathrooms, its girls to “girls” bathrooms, and its lone gender-dysphoric student to use a separate single-person bathroom.
Lower courts had ruled that the student in question had a right to use the boys’ bathroom, and SCOTUS, which refused to hear an appeal of these lower-court rulings, obviously agreed — including all three of the above-mentioned Trump-appointed justices. Only Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito were willing to hear the case.
Here, Power Line’s Paul Mirengoff makes a great point: “[Donald] Trump strongly [and, as it turns out, rightly] criticized George W. Bush for appointing [let’s just come out and say it: left-leaning Chief Justice] John Roberts to the Court. But Bush, in two tries,” says Mirengoff, “succeeded in nominating one very strong and reliable conservative Justice — Samuel Alito. It’s far from clear that Trump was able to do so in three tries.”
Time will tell. And time is on the side of Trump’s three justices — Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barrett — who are a relatively youthful 53, 56, and 49 respectively.
As for this case, National Review’s Ed Whelan lays out an if-then scenario by which it may yet be taken up by the High Court, but it’s weak solace to those who’ve watched Chief Justice Roberts, for example, actively rewrite ObamaCare in order to save it.
This case, though, and “transgender” “rights” more broadly, pose a nightmare scenario for anyone with a daughter. Suppose a “transgender” man, having been permitted to enter the women’s locker room, exposes himself in front of your girl — or worse. What do you do? What recourse to you have? Shouldn’t the laws of a civilized society protect against this?
It happened recently at a spa in Los Angeles, and one patron had the guts to speak up about it.
“A man flashed his penis in front of little girls at a spa and was allowed to do it because he claimed to be a woman,” tweeted conservative commentator Matt Walsh. “If you watch this video and find yourself siding with the man, please realize that you are not only insane but evil.”
We side with Walsh, and we bring this up because there’s something fundamentally obscene, unnerving, and infuriating about such behavior — and civilizational decency calls on us to protect our girls from it.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court declined to do that. And in doing so, it failed us.
A DC district judge threw out the lawsuits, pushing Facebook’s stock value over $1T for the first time.
On Monday, U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg threw out antitrust lawsuits against social media giant Facebook that were raised last December by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and 48 states. Boasberg, an appointee of Barack Obama, ruled that the plaintiffs had failed to provide enough evidence demonstrating that Facebook was an acting monopoly. Furthermore, Boasberg declared that too much time had elapsed since Facebook had acquired then-competitors Instagram (2012) and WhatsApp (2014) to now be raising the antitrust charge. The speech-suppressing “platform” can thus continue doing what it’s doing.
Regardless of Facebook’s status, the decision serves as an embarrassment to the FTC, which Boasberg chastised for raising such a significant lawsuit while providing almost no supporting evidence. “Such an unsupported assertion might (barely) suffice in a Section 2 case involving a more traditional goods market, in which the Court could reasonably infer that market share was measured by revenue, units sold, or some other typical metric,” Boasberg wrote. “But this case involves no ordinary or intuitive market.”
Furthermore, “The FTC’s Complaint says almost nothing concrete on the key question of how much power Facebook actually had, and still has, in a properly defined antitrust product market,” the court’s filing reads. “It is almost as if the agency expects the Court to simply nod to the conventional wisdom that Facebook is a monopolist.”
This was always going to be a difficult case to make against a massive Big Tech apparatus, but it appears that the FTC didn’t bother to put much effort into the case either. It’s almost as if the FTC treated it as if the cake was baked even before bringing the lawsuit. Which raises a key question: Was this simply an effort to placate those angered over Facebook’s abusive censorship practices while at the same time sending Facebook a message to keep doing what the Democrats want, or else?
Is Facebook guilty of breaching antitrust regulations? In the spirit of free market and a fair society, we think it is. In an article titled “Big Tech’s threat to democracy,” Matthew Crawford argues a critical point: “Google, Facebook, Twitter and Amazon have established portals that people feel they have to pass through to conduct the business of life, and to participate in the common life of the nation. Such bottlenecks are a natural consequence of ‘the network effect.’ It was early innovations that allowed these firms to take up their positions. But it is not innovation, it is these established positions, and the ongoing control of the data it allows them to gather, that accounts for the unprecedented rents they are able to collect, as in a classic infrastructure monopoly.”
Yet that’s also why it will be exceedingly difficult to make the traditional antitrust market-control violation stick.
News of the judge’s antitrust dismissal sent shares of Facebook jumping 4%, and the social media company surpassed $1 trillion in market value for the first time in its history. Mark Zuckerberg and company are laughing all the way to the bank, while American users who made Facebook the behemoth it is today are increasingly losing out as their free speech rights suffer via suppression and demonetization.
Finally, the FTC still has 30 days to refile its antitrust lawsuit without prejudice should the agency provide necessary evidence to back up its monopolization charge, but we’re not holding our breath.
Social media censors suppress even satire because leftists can’t stand being mocked.
Big Tech social media platforms use oversight boards and “fact-checkers” to screen and label our posts for COVID, Donald Trump, and Christianity — sometimes lumping the Bible under “hate speech.” And “hate speech” can include statements about biology and science that supports two genders, the pro-life movement, or even daring to use the hashtag #AllLifeMatters. The list goes on.
Now, however, the overlords, er, oversight boards are adding to their list of things to define and label as humor. For example, Facebook’s virtuous community standards that seem capable only of condemning content on the Right are now going to include reviews of satire. The labels will ensure no one is offended, no one takes the humor as truth, and no one is intimidated. That sounds so very good, right?
Actually, it’s just one more way to silence those who refuse to comply with the coordinated echo chamber of the political Left, the media, and Big Tech … but we repeat ourselves.
The announced policy was tied to the belief that authentic humor doesn’t “punch down” or assert power of those less powerful or insubordinate of an authority. In a matter of days, the Leftmedia, in this case Slate, published a piece accusing The Babylon Bee of, you guessed it, “punching down.”
Renowned for being “Your Trusted Source For Christian News Satire,” the Bee, which promotes itself as “Fake News You Can Trust,” makes no effort to hide its fun-poking stories of the absurdities in the culture wars. The Bee makes no effort to establish itself as a news site. Instead, it even has fun at its own expense by declaring, “The Babylon Bee is the world’s best satire site, totally inerrant in all its truth claims. We write satire about Christian stuff, political stuff, and everyday life,” which was created on the “eighth day of the creation week” through a “a shady deal involving the NRA, the Russians, and the King James-only mafia.”
Yet Slate declares this joviality to be a threat.
Quite simply, the political Left doesn’t like owning its absurdities. Take gender as an example. It’s not just based on faith; science, biology, physiology, kinesiology, and a bunch of other -ologies demonstrate the differences between the male and female sexes. Yet the political Left wants to create new protected classes and blur the lines of norms to aid in its lifelong commitment to grow those needing government intervention.
A few pokes of fun at identity politics are seen at The Babylon Bee in its “inspiring true story of the first motorcyclist to identify as a bicyclist” and the irreverent piece entitled, “Female Weightlifter Suffers Tragic Testicle Injury Just Weeks Before Tokyo Olympics.”
“Hate speech,” they cry.
We too have already dealt with drama for posts mocking the demand to permit those who identify as another sex or gender access to bathrooms that differ from their own biology, like this one.
Moreover, humor about issues related to race and gun ownership will absolutely be deemed as offensive by the Left. Poking fun at the tried-and-true tactic by Democrats of redefining everything will certainly elicit gasps and grasps of pearls by those quick to pronounce their absurdities and will likely put in jeopardy a nice jab in jest like the new-fangled cordless hole puncher.
Post an image about an angry female comic holding what’s supposed to represent the severed head of a U.S. president, and free speech and satire are defended. Post a meme about visiting a farm to milk a bull if one is confused about gender, and expect the overlords of Big Tech to subject your content through layers of examination as to whether it meets community standards.
National security is suffering because of the preoccupation with “woke” indoctrination.
There’s only one thing that we can take away from General Mark Milley’s response when a former Green Beret, Representative Michael Waltz, called him out over the use of Critical Race Theory to “train” military personnel: He’s in the wrong job.
If Milley really wants to deal with race relations, he needs to put in his retirement papers and either join a nonprofit or run for office. But as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he has one job: Address the threats posed by China and Russia and their collusion against the United States, the genocidal Iranian regime, and the other conflicts in the Middle East while also handling potential threats in Latin America and Africa.
While General Milley, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and Commander-in-Chief Joe Biden are busy fighting the phantom menace of “white supremacy” in the ranks, China has been engaging in a military buildup.
Milley himself testified that China wants the capability to take Taiwan by 2027. According to the Congressional Research Service, China has 350 battle force ships. The United States Navy, with responsibility for two oceans and global commitments, has 293, per that same report. The fact is, we have seen a three-decade-long pattern of foolish cutbacks and high operational tempos combined with errors of omission.
George W. Bush rightly focused on the danger of jihadist terror but failed to build the forces up to a level that could also keep Russia and China from thinking they could pull off aggression. Barack Obama dismantled what Bush had put together to protect us from jihadist terror, hobbled our troops, and his ill-advised pullout from Iraq created the space for ISIS to metastasize. Donald Trump rightly worked to enable America to minimize involvement in the Middle East by building up allies, but he was distracted by fighting bureaucrats who undermined his policies.
We’ve discussed this concerning situation multiple times, and it won’t get better under the Biden regime. We warned that Biden’s track record showed he was incapable of uniting the country in the best of circumstances, much less when many suspected foul play. And he certainly isn’t interested in putting America first in terms of military readiness.
Many grassroots Patriots will rightly question whether they want their sons and daughters serving in a military whose top brass can’t seem to advocate for sufficient numbers of ships, planes, tanks, missiles, and other implements of war to ensure our troops don’t have to make the ultimate sacrifice. Milley’s trip down the rabbit hole of CRT could well get troops killed in a war with China or Russia.
Whoever does eventually replace Milley will need to partially follow the advice of author J.D. Vance: Stop reading about “white rage” and “not losing wars,” and instead work to get Congress and the Pentagon behind the type of massive military buildup needed to stay out in front of China and Russia and get our troops out from behind a deadly geopolitical 8-ball.
A field athlete disrespects the national anthem in a podium ceremony; another wants to burn the flag.
Why compete and represent your nation in the Olympic Games if you hate your country? That’s a question American athlete Gwen Berry should be asked following her recent antics.
On Saturday, Berry, who placed third in the hammer throw and qualified for the coming Olympic Games in Tokyo, turned away from facing the U.S. flag while standing on the podium as the national anthem began to play during the medal ceremony. Already infamous for her “woke” activism, Berry then pulled a black T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Activist Athlete” over her head.
When questioned afterwards, Berry first laughed it off, saying, “I feel like it was set up.” She then elaborated: “I feel like they did that on purpose, and I was pissed, to be honest. … I put my shirt over my head. It was real disrespectful.” By which she meant to her. She added: “I really don’t want to talk about the anthem because that’s not important. The anthem don’t speak for me. It never has.”
Wait, who was doing the disrespecting? The great irony here is Berry’s blindness to her own disrespectful behavior. Like Colin Kaepernick and other “woke” athletes, self-delusion is a defining characteristic. Their entitlement grows out of an outsized view of their own self-importance and self-righteousness based entirely upon the social justice victimology hierarchy. During the Pan-American Games in 2019, Berry raised a clenched fist on the podium during the national anthem for which she was reprimanded and received a 12-month probation. That seemed to only further “affirm” her victimology.
Berry’s latest antics showed an even greater degree of contempt for America and her flag. “It really wasn’t a message,” she insisted. “I didn’t want to be up there. … My purpose and my mission is bigger than sports. I’m here to represent those … who died due to systemic racism.”
Following a lot of blowback, Berry dubiously claimed: “I never said I hated this country! People try to put words in my mouth but they can’t. That’s why I speak out. I LOVE MY PEOPLE.” The question is, does Berry love Americans of all colors? Because America is not a color, nor is it a race or one ethnic group. It never has been. Nor was it a nation birthed out of racism and slavery as those peddling the fake history of Critical Race Theory so dogmatically declare.
Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) knows a thing or two about honoring and respecting the country he loves. He blasted Berry’s offensive display, calling for her to be removed from the U.S. Olympic team. “We don’t need any more activist athletes,” Crenshaw declared. “She should be removed from the team. The entire point of the Olympic team is to represent the United States of America.” Crenshaw added: “It’s one thing when these NBA players do it — OK, fine, we’ll stop watching — but now the Olympic team? And it’s multiple cases of this. They should be removed. That should be the bare minimum requirement is that you believe in the country.”
One of the other cases to which Crenshaw alluded was that of Chelsea Wolfe, a gender dysphoric male who identifies as female. Wolfe is an alternate on the U.S. Olympic BMX freestyle team, and he also came out against the U.S. “My goal,” he said, “is to win the Olympics so I can burn a U.S. flag on the podium.” Of course, like Berry, Wolfe slams anyone who interpreted his words as hatred of America, claiming they were “sorely mistaken” because he’s fighting against fascism. Burning your own nation’s flag is a strange way to fight fascism.
On a final note, it wasn’t all that long ago that the U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team defeated the Soviet Union in one of the greatest upsets in sports history. The victory was a moment of immense national pride — flag-waving patriotism was everywhere. Is it too much to ask that Olympians today at least try to foster the same spirit?
Jobs are coming back far faster to Republican-led states around the country.
The high-level message on GOP.com is pretty simple, pretty straightforward: Republican-led states are bringing back the jobs. And Democrat states? Not so much.
Exhibit A is a chart showing how well each of the 50 states has done at recovering the jobs it lost during the pandemic. Leading the way is Utah, which has recovered 115.9% of the jobs it lost — meaning all of them and then some. Next is Idaho at 111.7%, then Montana at 87%, then South Dakota at 80.9%, then Arkansas at 77.8%, then Tennessee, Arizona, South Carolina, Mississippi, Indiana, New Hampshire, Texas, and Nebraska.
Notice a pattern here? Each of those states — all 13 of them — has a Republican governor. Not until we get to the purple state of North Carolina, in 14th place, do we find a state with a Democrat governor.
Other statistics from the Labor Department report are equally stark: Seventeen Republican-led states have recovered at least two-thirds of their jobs, while only five Democrat-led states have. Moreover, the average unemployment rate of the 27 Republican-led states is 4.5%, while that of the 23 Democrat-led states is 6.1%. Those are real jobs, real people, and real lives. And the difference is due to policy choices.
This compelling economic news reinforces a trend that our Nate Jackson reported on earlier this month: a trend of two Americas — one red and economically resilient, one blue and barely bumping along.
No one should be surprised, though, since Democrats seem to think paying people not to work is a sound strategy for getting them back to work. It isn’t, and anyone with even a lukewarm grasp of human nature knows it. As The Wall Street Journal noted this weekend, the states that are shutting off the unemployment spigot are the ones that are seeing their people come off the dole more quickly than those that keep the handouts coming.
“The number of unemployment-benefit recipients is falling at a faster rate in Missouri and 21 other states canceling enhanced and extended payments this month,” the Journal reported, “suggesting that ending the aid could push more people to take jobs.”
Hmm … ya think?
At issue is the federal government’s supplemental pandemic aid, which added $300 per week to each person’s existing state unemployment benefit — a sizable giveaway that the feds extended for up to 18 months, nearly three times as long as the typical 26-week state package. The $300 supplemental benefit is set to expire in early September, but some states have been opting out early, and the result has been a win-win:
“Missouri cut off payments as of June 12,” as the Journal continues, “joining three other states as the first to do so. Seven states followed with an end on June 19, and this weekend, benefits are expiring in 10 more states. Four more states will curtail benefits by July 10.”
Here’s another way to look at it, using a U.S. map buried in the back of the latest state unemployment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
As you can see, the darkly shaded states are nearly all Democrat-run, and the unshaded states are nearly all Republican-run. Coincidence? Hardly. The blue states have fallen, and they can’t get up.
When it comes to economic prosperity, elections clearly have consequences.
The vast majority of entertainers are “part of the herd and cowards.”
Most young people in their 20s who have an interest in contemporary folk music will know about the Grammy Award-winning English folk band Mumford & Sons. The band features Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane.
Until this week, Winston Marshall was the vocalist, lead guitar, and banjo player — until he became another target of leftist “cancel culture.” Unlike many entertainers, Marshall did not kowtow to the Left. He put his principles above a very successful career.
Marshall has taken some positions advocating and defending free speech, as well as being open about his own interests in people who don’t fit the Left’s “woke” narrative. Because of his band’s international success, those positions are highly visible. A few examples:
Marshall has expressed his interest in the opinions of conservative Canadian psychology professor Jordan Peterson, and Peterson has shared photographs with Marshall when they met. Leftists hate Peterson.
In January of this year, Marshall announced his support for a group to connect with Hong Kong citizens oppressed by the Chinese communists, encouraging them to immigrate to the UK. Leftists hate Liberty.
But it was in March when Marshall became the direct target of venomous cancel culture leftists because he publicly stated his support for journalist Andy Ngo, author of the New York Times bestseller Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy. The Left hates Ngo because he exposed “antifa movement” thugs as the fascists they are.
Marshall initially indicated regret about supporting Ngo because of the consequences for his fellow band members. However, last week he released a statement defending his support for Ngo, and announcing he was leaving Mumford & Sons so that he could exercise his right to free speech on political topics without collateral damage to his bandmates.
His band wanted him to stay with them, and as Marshall wrote, “That took courage, particularly in the age of so called ‘cancel culture.’” But he was not willing to further subject them to ridicule.
To that end, Marshall noted: “For me to speak about what I’ve learned … will inevitably bring my bandmates more trouble. My love, loyalty and accountability to them cannot permit that. I could remain — and continue to self-censor. But it will erode my sense of integrity. Gnaw my conscience. I’ve already felt that beginning. The only way forward for me is to leave the band. I hope in distancing myself from them I am able to speak my mind without them suffering the consequences. I leave with love in my heart and I wish those three boys nothing but the best.”
He explained: “At the beginning of March I tweeted to American journalist Andy Ngo, author of the New York Times Bestseller, ‘Unmasked,’ ‘Congratulations @MrAndyNgo. Finally had the time to read your important book. You’re a brave man.’ Over the course of 24 hours, it was trending with tens of thousands of angry retweets and comments. I failed to foresee that my commenting on a book critical of the Far-Left could be interpreted as approval of the equally abhorrent Far-Right.”
On his initial response to the attacks, Marshall said: “In the mania of the moment, I was desperate to protect my bandmates. The hornets’ nest that I had unwittingly hit had unleashed a black-hearted swarm on them and their families. I didn’t want them to suffer for my actions; they were my priority. Secondly, I was sincerely open to the fact that maybe I did not know something about the author or his work.”
But he says now: “The truth is that my commenting on a book that documents the extreme Far-Left and their activities is in no way an endorsement of the equally repugnant Far-Right. The truth is that reporting on extremism at the great risk of endangering oneself is unquestionably brave. I also feel that my previous apology in a small way participates in the lie that such extremism does not exist, or worse, is a force for good.”
It is disgraceful that the Leftmedia and its social media colluders are not only complicit in redlining First Amendment rights, a violation of fundamental civil rights, but provide and promote retail cancel culture on their platforms — much of which they should condemn because it does not comport with their own community standards.
Finally, Marshall cites a quote from Soviet-era dissident Aleksander Solzhenitsyn regarding courage: “He who is not sufficiently courageous to defend his soul — don’t let him be proud of his ‘progressive’ views, and don’t let him boast that he is an academician or a people’s artist, a distinguished figure or a general. Let him say to himself: I am a part of the herd and a coward. It’s all the same to me as long as I’m fed and kept warm.”
Indeed, the vast majority of entertainers know nothing of Solzhenitsyn’s courage. They’re part of the herd and cowards.

For the record: “When [Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Mark] Milley publicly apologized for standing outside of St. John’s Church with the former president, he said he shouldn’t have appeared in uniform with [Donald] Trump because it was ‘too political.’ … Critical race theory is just about the most political issue there is. Chicago: Weekend shootings leave 5 dead, 72 wounded
Between January 1-June 23, shooting incidents jumped 12% to 1,438 from 1,283 over same period a year previous Two mass shootings over the weekend in Chicago, which left at least two dead and 17 wounded, continued a pattern of increasing gun violence in America’s third-largest city.
Jason Whitlock: Dear Black America, We Are Being Lied To…
We are being lied to and set up. The mainstream media, Democratic politicians, social justice activists, and perhaps even your church pastor have led you to believe America is in the midst of a racial conflict similar to the Civil War and the civil rights movement. They have pitted us against the Proud Boys, the KKK, rural militia groups, and Trump supporters in a made-for-TV race war. Just five years after Barack Obama completed two terms as president of the United States, we’re supposed to believe America has been overrun by violent white supremacists determined to reinstate segregation, Jim Crow laws, and maybe even slavery. It’s a setup. We’re being used as decoys and distractions in a war that has nothing to do with race.

Hotter than the human body can handle: Pakistan city broils in world’s highest temperatures
When the full midsummer heat hits Jacobabad, the city retreats inside as if sheltering from attack. The streets are deserted and residents hunker down as best they can to weather temperatures that can top 52C (126F). Few have any air conditioning, and blackouts mean often there is no mains electricity. The hospital fills with heatstroke cases from those whose livelihoods mean they must venture out. Its mixture of heat and humidity has made it one of only two places on earth to have now officially passed, albeit briefly, a threshold hotter than the human body can withstand.
The hunt for a primordial force that would revolutionise cosmology
THE scale is hard to fathom. But if you zoom out far enough, the structure of the universe reveals itself: a “cosmic web” in which thread-like filaments of gas tangle around gigantic voids, connecting disparate clusters of galaxies. These are some of the most mysterious structures in the cosmos – and recent glimpses have revealed a surprising presence among them. Earlier this year, astronomers led by Tessa Vernstrom at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Perth, Australia, confirmed the detection of magnetic field lines stretching some 50 million light years between galaxy clusters.

Document dump shows that Big Tech is most definitely censoring Americans at the behest of Big Government
We’ve been hearing in recent weeks that members of Congress on both sides of the aisle are finally getting serious about busting up big tech monopolies and going after their constant law-breaking, but new information revealed in documents uncovered just recently prove that’s a lot of hot air.
On the verge of the unthinkable
..Of course this is just the beginning. If this summer is as hot and as dry as they are projecting, we could see catastrophic crop failures all across the West. And that is really bad news, because the state of California alone produces more than a third of our vegetables and about two-thirds of our fruits and nuts.
Iran’s Next Butcher President
The Biden administration is moving full steam ahead to negotiate a return to the disastrous nuclear deal with Iran, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), come hell or high water. And Iranians will continue to be living in hell after the phony “election” of Ebrahim Raisi as Iran’s new president.
What most people don’t yet understand is that they’re no longer living in “America.” What used to be America is now a nation under enemy occupation, ruled by authoritarian tyrants who were installed through election fraud and whose loyalty rests with the CCP (Chinese Communist Party). The Big Tech corporations all work for China, too, and the censorship they pursue in the USA mirrors the anti-freedom censorship of communist China.

Young adults and adolescents are suffering heart inflammation caused by Covid-19 vaccines – cases skyrocket to at least 200 TIMES MORE than “expected” by CDC
Get the shot, get the shot! Wait. Never mind. Don’t get it. Vaccine “hesitancy” for young adults just turned into “just say no” because who needs to have a heart attack or a stroke at 25 or 15 years young, all to supposedly “prevent” catching a virus that barely even affects young adults or adolescents? If the chicken pox vaccine or the flu shot was causing blood clots and swollen hearts for kids, teens and young adults, would everyone still be rushing out to get it? The answer is no.

The engineered spike proteins from SARS-CoV-2 can be STOPPED by a common “weed” that is exterminated from lawns every year. A German university study found that the common dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) can block spike proteins from binding to the ACE2 cell surface receptors in human lung and kidney cells.
This article will remove any doubt as to who is the true enemy of the state and all of its members will soon be facing the modern-day version of the “final solution”
Sometimes, it is easy to forget that I am writing for a new generation of Americans that have not been exposed to what I previously learned and published. Specifically, I am referencing the topic of concentration camps and the related topics of a Red Dawn invasion and menacing foreign troops on both our northern and southern borders. Today, we in the alt media refer to these concentration camps as “FEMA Camps.”

Pacific Northwest heat wave breaks records: Why context is essential to empathy
The National Weather Service predicted that the heat wave baking the Pacific Northwest would be “historic, dangerous, prolonged and unprecedented.”
If anything, they undersold it.
As the Pacific Northwest continues to suffer through a record-breaking heat wave, with temperatures in Portland, Oregon, reaching as high as 112 degrees this past weekend, the escalating conditions are expected to prove fatal for far too many across the coming days.
For those in the south, triple-digit temperatures are often a fact of life during these summer months, and it can be difficult to understand why this heat wave is such a big deal. Sure, temperatures that high are a bit extreme, but, at a certain point, heat is heat and you just ride it out inside while waiting for a higher-than-normal electric bill to hit the next month.
Degrees of difference
Because temperatures normally don’t reach anything remotely close to the current levels in that region, the air conditioning that is typically a necessity for people in warmer climates is often considered more of an optional luxury. Only 70 percent of people in Portland, for example, have air conditioning in their homes. In Seattle, the number is less than 34 percent. Residences, moreover, are often designed to retain heat during the colder winters rather than let it out, further exacerbating the problem.
When a similarly record-setting winter storm hit Texas and other parts of the south this past February, the response from many in the north was similar bewilderment. They struggled to understand why the falling temperatures, along with the accompanying snow and ice, was proving to be such a problem.
How Jesus modeled empathy
Both situations remind us that it’s only when we take the time to understand why someone is struggling that we are truly able to empathize with them and be of any real help. When we make snap judgments or assume that we have all the necessary information before we do, then we’re likely to only make matters worse.
We see Jesus model this principle at various points throughout his ministry. Whereas the religious leaders would often respond to the people’s problems with a list of ways they were failing to keep the Law, Christ often responded by taking the time to listen and make people feel heard before stepping in with guidance. His interaction with the woman at the well is, perhaps, the best example of this strategy at work, but it was hardly the only time he used it (John 4). The time spent eating with “tax collectors and sinners” likely had a similar tone (Mark 2:13–17).
What his critics couldn’t understand is that the extra effort was as much, or more, for the benefit of those suffering than it was for him. Even when he already knew exactly what they needed, by taking the time to listen he was able to tailor his answers in a way that better applied to their struggle and made them more open to heeding his advice.
If our omniscient Lord needed to make that effort in helping others, how much more do we?
Whether it’s commenting on the heat wave in the Northwest or talking with a friend who has worked up the courage to confide in you, make it a point to follow Christ’s example and not respond until you’ve first taken the time to prayerfully understand what’s really going on. Once you’ve done that, ask God to help you structure your reply in such a way that it gets to the heart of where the other person is actually struggling.
Few things are less helpful to someone who is hurting than unsolicited and irrelevant advice. But, by the same token, few things can heal like the presence and compassion of someone who is willing to take the time to really listen and understand.
Our culture is filled with people who are more than willing to do the former but far too few who will make the extra effort to do the latter.

The rationale offered was the same as Biden’s first air attack in February: the US, in the words of Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, “conducted defensive precision airstrikes against facilities used by Iran-backed militia groups in the Iraq-Syria border region.” He added that “the United States acted pursuant to its right of self-defense.”
Embedded in this formulaic Pentagon statement is so much propaganda and so many euphemisms that, by itself, it reveals the fraudulent nature of what was done. To begin with, how can US airstrikes carried out in Iraq and Syria be “defensive” in nature? How can they be an act of “self-defense”? Nobody suggests that the targets of the bombing campaign have the intent or the capability to strike the US “homeland” itself. Neither Syria nor Iraq is a US colony or American property, nor does the US have any legal right to be fighting wars in either country, rendering the claim that its airstrikes were “defensive” and an “act of self-defense” to be inherently deceitful.
The Pentagon’s description of the people bombed by the US — “Iran-backed militias groups” — is intended to obscure the reality. Biden did not bomb Iran or order Iranians to be bombed or killed. The targets of US aggression were Iraqis in their own country, and Syrians in their own country. Only the US war machine and its subservient media could possibly take seriously the Biden administration’s claim that the bombs they dropped on people in their own countries were “defensive” in nature. Invocation of Iran has no purpose other than to stimulate the emotional opposition to the government of that country among many Americans in the hope that visceral dislike of Iranian leaders will override the rational faculties that would immediately recognize the deceit and illegality embedded in the Pentagon’s arguments.
Dr. Fauci should be out of office and indicted if America still had equal justice under the law.
In the latest developments, the megalomaniac and White House’s Chief Medical Advisor was caught lying to Congress about the funding of the Wuhan virology lab in China.
According to the latest reports Fauci was caught lying after claims he falsely denied knowing the reasons behind President Trumps’s decision to cut funding to the Chinese virology lab behind the COVID pandemic.
Fauci has a long history of flip-flops and lies.
It is unexplainable why he is still holding a seat of power in the American medical hierarchy.
Rep. Warren Davidson and other Republicans of conscience have called for Fauci’s removal for several months now.

Dr Anthony Fauci was accused of lying Sunday after claims he falsely denied knowing the reasons behind President Trumps’s decision to cut funding to the Chinese lab accused of releasing COVID-19.
The White House‘s chief medical advisor initially resisted Trump’s order to halt taxpayer funding for the Wuhan Institute of Virology in April 2020, according to an upcoming book, before telling a house committee in June that he ‘didn’t know the reason’ behind the then-president’s decision.
However, Fauci’s account is contradicted by ‘verbatim’ quotes which show he was fully aware Trump took the decision out of concern about the lab’s safety record and fears it was the source of the COVID pandemic, included in the new book ‘Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration’s Response to the Pandemic That Changed History’ by Washington Post journalists Yasmeen Abutaleb and Damian Paletta.
Fauci’s politics and lies likely resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Why is this man still in government?
A third of all Americans believe the Covid-19 pandemic is over in the US, though only 4% of Democrats agree, as a potential surge in the virus’ Delta variant becomes a concerning topic for some.
A vast majority of Americans (89%) believe the Covid-19 situation is “improving,” but over 70% don’t think the pandemic is over yet, according to a poll by Gallup, the results of which were released this week.
As with most topics related to Covid-19, opinions differ greatly across party lines, with Republicans far more ready to declare the pandemic over than Democrats. In Gallup’s survey, 57% of those who identified themselves as Republicans said the pandemic was over, while only 4% of Democrats were ready to make the same declaration – and 35% who described themselves as independents.
With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) easing some of its health guidance in light of ongoing vaccinations, and numerous states and businesses dropping pandemic-era restrictions altogether, the majority of Americans (54%) polled said their lives were currently disrupted by Covid-19 either “not much” or “not at all.” The other 46% felt their lives were still being disrupted daily “a great deal” or “a fair amount.”

Only 15% said their lives had returned “completely back to normal,” but over 60% said their lives had at least “somewhat returned to normal.”
Expectations for the future are rather tempered, according to the poll, with less than half of respondents (46%) saying they believed their life would eventually be much the same as it was before the pandemic. Another 40%, however, had accepted a ‘new normal’ and said they did not expect their lives to ever be the same again.
Gallup’s survey polled more than 4,800 US adults, and the margin of error was 2%.
One aspect of Covid-19 that might be making some hesitant to believe the pandemic was over is the virus’ Delta variant, which has led to spikes in cases in some countries, including the UK and Australia. In a poll by Axios released on Tuesday, over 80% of Americans polled said they were somewhat familiar or had heard of the variant. Among those aware, a little over a third reported that they were “extremely or very concerned,” while a similar number said they were “somewhat concerned.”
The survey also showed that people are now social distancing and masking in public in smaller numbers, although over 50% said they would curtail their activities outside the home if there were a spike in Covid-19 cases near where they lived.

House Democrats have issued a budget proposal that includes a shocking slash to border enforcement, with a billion dollars slashed from Customs and Border Protection (CBP_, among other notable cuts.
Bloomberg Law reported Tuesday that House Democrats are pursuing even deeper cuts to the immigration enforcement budget than the Biden White House, which already proposed a significant reduction in CBP and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) funding levels.
The cuts appear in the House’s draft fiscal 2022 appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security, released this week.
Bloomberg Law reports that the Democrats want stiff cuts, largely to those departments charged with enforcing border regulations and handling illegal immigration, despite the record number of illegal immigrants encountered by Customs and Border Protection in April and May — jumps over already record levels.
If the draft legislation is passed, the “CBP would get $14.1 billion in net discretionary appropriations, almost a billion dollars less than the current fiscal year and a half-billion dollars less than the White House requested,” per Bloomberg, and the “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement would get $1.55 million less than fiscal 2021, while U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services would get a $346.7 million increase, which would help address processing backlogs.”
The border wall would face the biggest cut. The measure, Bloomberg said, will “rescind more than $2 billion from prior year appropriations for border barrier construction; it proposes no funding for additional Border Patrol agents or the border wall.”
Border governor, Texas Republican Greg Abbott, has proposed filling the hole left by ending construction on a wall across the southern border by building a Texas “border barrier” on the American side of the Texas-Mexico border. Such a project would, theoretically, allow Texas to bypass restrictions against state authorities enforcing federal law; when an illegal immigrant jumped a Texas border-barrier, the state suggests, Texas officials could arrest that immigrant for trespass and other state-level crimes.
There are some increases in the proposed DHS budget.
“The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency would get an added $397.4 million,” Bloomberg notes, citing threats to key infrastructure following the Colonial Pipeline hack, and the “Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties would get $8.1 million more than fiscal 2021, $3.5 million more than White House requested.”
The GOP is already concerned that CBP is underfunded, particularly in light of an ongoing border crisis. In committee meetings earlier this month, House Republicans “grilled” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over what they deemed a critical lack of funding for border protection amidst some of the highest rates of illegal immigration in two decades, per Fox News.
“Mayorkas was testifying at the House Homeland Security Committee about the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 budget request for DHS, which he said would include $665 million in investments toward modernizing land ports of entry and $47 million to invest in detection capabilities in addition to investments in border surveillance technology,” the outlet reported.
Mayorkas was asked by Ranking Member John Katko, R-N.Y., if the request contains more hiring for more Border Patrol agents.
“It does not, we have vacancies now and we are focused on recruiting and hiring additional personnel,” Mayorkas responded.
Katko followed up by pointing to an “alarming” retirement rate among agents.
“We have a 21-year high in Border Patrol agents being pulled from all over the country to deal with the crisis at the border, and it seems to me it’d be a good time for us to contemplate pushing up Border Patrol,” he said.
CBP had more than 180,000 illegal immigrant encounters at the border last month. June numbers are expected out next week.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki drew ire Monday by suggesting that the defund the police movement is being driven by Republicans, rather than extremist Democrats.
In another exchange with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, Psaki argued that the lack of support on the right for Biden’s massive pork filled COVID relief bill equates to wanting to defund law enforcement.
Republicans didn’t vote for the bill because it had nothing to do with COVID and everything to do with more government control.
Psaki used the fact that there was some slated funding for ‘community policing’ in the bill to argue that Republicans are against funding the police.
Liberty Nation’s Tim Donner adds that this followed Cedric Richmond, senior adviser to the president, laying out the carefully spun talking points on Fox News this weekend:
“Let’s talk about who defunded the police. When we were in Congress last year trying to pass an emergency relief plan for cities that were cash-strapped and laying off police and firefighters, it was the Republicans who objected to it.”
With those seeds of spin spread across the shakiest of ground, Richmond delivered what he hoped would be the coup de grâce:
“In fact, they didn’t get funding until the American Rescue Plan, which our plan allowed state and local governments to replenish their police departments and do the other things that are needed … Republicans are very good at staying on talking points of who says defund the police, but the truth is, they defunded the police. We funded crime intervention, and a whole bunch of other things.”
In reality, it is Democrats that have been pushing defunding police for over a year now, which has had devastating effect on Democrat run cities.
Last year after unrest and violence targeting police, Harvard university Professor Roland Fryer urged that defunding the police would cause more loss of life, citing figures showing that there are “450 excess homicides per year” when police are not able to do their jobs proficiently.
“Defunding the police is not a solution and could cost thousands of black lives,” professor Fryer wrote in an email to the College Fix.
Fryer has recently authored a research paper titled “Policing the Police: The Impact of “Pattern-or-Practice Investigations on Crime,” noting that police are less present when ‘viral incidents’ occur, meaning crime, including homicides increase… a lot.
Last year it was reported by the New York Times that Gun violence is up 358% in New York City since June 2019 as police are being stripped of resources in Democrat run cities nationwide.
The explosion in gun violence dovetailed with the disbanding of NYPD anti-crime units, a decision that meant around 600 plainclothes officers were taken off targeted raids and reassigned.
In addition, Democrat imposed “reforms” have meant that around 40% of people arrested on gun possession charges were released without bail in 2019.
Despite the crime spike, the Minneapolis City Council unanimously passed a resolution to replace the police department with a “community-led public safety system.”
Meanwhile, the radical leftists and Democrats who are pushing the movement think nothing of hiring their own armed security while everyday Americans are left at the mercy of criminality.
Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki held a press briefing and accused Republicans of being the party of defunding the police — after “Defund the Police” became a rallying cry of progressive activists in 2020.

Financial markets are barreling towards a brutal downturn, and investors should bank on cryptocurrencies and precious metals to weather the fallout, “Rich Dad Poor Dad” author Robert Kiyosaki tweeted on Monday.
“The biggest crash in world history is coming,” he said, adding that sell-offs create buying opportunities but markets won’t recover for a long time. “Get more gold, silver, and bitcoin while you can.”
Kiyosaki’s best-selling book urges people to understand their finances, not rely on others for money, and accumulate wealth by investing in businesses, real estate, and other assets. The founder of Rich Global and Rich Dad Company has been sounding the alarm on the current market for several months.
Kiyosaki recommends holding crypto and metals because he expects them to retain more of their value, and be more easily converted into cash, than other assets during a downturn.
“Why I like gold, silver, bitcoin? LIQUIDITY,” he tweeted in February. “People rushing in to buy a house at top of real estate market. When real estate crashes cannot get out.”
Notably, the personal-finance guru celebrated the retail investors who executed short squeezes on GameStop, AMC, and other assets earlier this year. “Robinhood and Reddit traders kicking the butts of institutional investors,” he tweeted in late January. “Keep it up. Love it.”
Kiyosaki is far from the only high-profile commentator to predict a crash. Leading investors such as Jeremy Grantham, Leon Cooperman, Stanley Druckenmiller, and Michael Burry of “The Big Short” fame have all warned the current boom will end painfully.
