“He that takes truth for his guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him aright.” – Blaise Pascal. "There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily" – George Washington letter to Edmund Randolph — 1795. We live in a “post-truth” world. According to the dictionary, “post-truth” means, “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” Simply put, we now live in a culture that seems to value experience and emotion more than truth. Truth will never go away no matter how hard one might wish. Going beyond the MSM idealogical opinion/bias and their low information tabloid reality show news with a distractional superficial focus on entertainment, sensationalism, emotionalism and activist reporting – this blogs goal is to, in some small way, put a plug in the broken dam of truth and save as many as possible from the consequences—temporal and eternal. "The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." – George Orwell “There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” ― Soren Kierkegaard
Patience Is the Way to Overcome Psalm 130:6; Proverbs 25:21–22; Habakkuk 2:3–4; Matthew 5:43–48; Romans 12:20–21; Hebrews 10:37
The way to overcome is by patience, forgiving and praying for your enemies, in doing which you heap coals upon their heads, and your Lord shall open a door to you in your troubles. Wait upon Him, as the night watch waits for the morning. He will not tarry. Go up to your watchtower, and do not come down; but by prayer, and faith, and hope, wait on. When the sea is full, it will ebb again; and as soon as the wicked have come to the top of their pride, and are waxed high and mighty, then is their change approaching. Those who believe do not make haste.

The Nature of Righteousness John 3:17; Acts 2:33; Romans 3:20; 4:5–6; 8:34; 9:30; Titus 3:5; Hebrews 4:14; 7:25; 2 Peter 1:1
Do we work nothing for the obtaining of this righteousness? I answer: Nothing at all. For the nature of this righteousness is, to do nothing, to hear nothing, to know nothing whatsoever of the law or of works, but to know and to believe this only: that Christ is gone to the Father and is not now seen; that he sits in heaven at the right hand of his Father, not as a judge, but made unto us of God, wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption; briefly, that he is our high priest entreating for us, and reigning over us and in us by grace.

11:10 Whereas the Lord is like a lion as Israel’s fierce predator in 5:14 and 13:7, here the comparison is a positive one as the divine lion is Israel’s champion restoring them to the land. The trembling signifies submissive excitement at hearing the Lord’s voice (Jb 37:1–4).
11:10 They shall go after the Lord. Restoration, not destruction, is the goal of God’s judgment of His covenant people.
11:10he roars like a lion A common image for Yahweh that emphasizes His strength (compare Amos 1:2; Joel 3:16; Jer 25:30).
will come trembling from the sea Illustrates Yahweh bringing a group of survivors of Israel (the remnant) back to the land (compare Isa 11:11–16; 35:10; 60:4; Jer 16:15).
11:10 will roar like a lion. Though the Lord would, as a lion, roar against Israel in judgment (cf. Am 1:2), He would also roar for the purpose of calling, protecting, and blessing (cf. Joel 3:16). from the west. Returns from Assyrian and Babylonian captivities were from the E. This undoubtedly has reference to His return at the Second Advent to set up the millennial kingdom (cf. Is 11:11, 12), when He calls Israel from their worldwide dispersion and reverses the judgment of 9:17.
Ver. 10.—They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west. Others translate, “After the Lord shall they go as after a lion that roareth.” But this necessitates a double ellipsis of “after which.” They would go after the Lord in obedience to his summons. That summons is represented as far-reaching and terrible. Calling his people to return, the Lord roars as a lion, to denote at once the loudness of the call, and the awful majesty of the Lord when thus calling his people to return. “As a lion,” says Kimchi, “which roars that the animals whose king he is may assemble to him, so the Israelites shall assemble on hearing the voice of the Lord when he roars.” The roaring of the lion may signify his terrible judgments on Israel’s enemies, when he calls his people home from the lands of their dispersion. The result would be a speedy return of his children from the lands of the West—the countries round or beyond the Mediterranean.
11:10 After the Lord they will go,
like a lion he will roar;
for he himself will roar,
and so sons will tremble from the west.
They refers to the Israelites, as does sons at the end of the verse. Now they are pictured as walking after the Lord (cf. 1:2; 2:5) rather than away from his messengers (cf. 11:2), at last acting in obedience to his summons rather than wilfully disregarding his commands. Like a lion he will roar is a clear, resounding declaration of the authority of the Lord (cf. Jer. 25:30; Amos 1:2). Though never without an element of menace, the lion’s roar is also employed to reveal its presence and claim its territory. So here the simile does not focus on ferocity (cf. 5:14; 13:7–8; Mic. 5:8), but on the sovereign majesty of the one whose word cannot be ignored. As a result of divine intervention, the people of God will reverse their conduct and no longer rush headlong along a path of their own choosing, but will respectfully respond to the summons of their God.
For introduces a further explication of the scenario set out in the previous line. It is emphasised that the Lord’s action will be personal and overwhelming: he himself will roar. As a consequence those who are sons (cf. 11:1) will tremble, or ‘will come trembling’, where the idea of movement is implied by the preposition ‘from’ (cf. ‘to’, 3:5). Their fearfulness will not lead to disobedience, but to an awestruck response. From the west is literally ‘from the sea’, a term which, given the orientation of Israel, is equivalent to the west. The reference to the area around the Mediterranean (rather than Assyria to the north or Egypt to the south) does not originate directly from anything said so far in the prophecy, but seems to reflect Hosea’s general awareness of the far flung nature of the people’s dispersal.

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. (Psalm 92:12)
These trees are not trained and pruned by man: palms and cedars are “trees of the Lord,” and it is by His care that they flourish. Even so it is with the saints of the Lord: they are His own care. These trees are evergreen and are beautiful objects at all seasons of the year. Believers are not sometimes holy and sometimes ungodly: they stand in the beauty of the Lord under all weathers. Everywhere these trees are noteworthy: no one can gaze upon a landscape in which there are either palms or cedars without his attention being fixed upon these royal growths. The followers of Jesus are the observed of all observers: like a city set on a hill, they cannot be hid.
The child of God flourishes like a palm tree, which pushes all its strength upward in one erect column without a single branch. It is a pillar with a glorious capital. It has no growth to the right or to the left but sends all its force heavenward and bears its fruit as near the sky as possible. Lord, fulfill this type in me.
The cedar braves all storms and grows near the eternal snows, the Lord Himself filling it with a sap which keeps its heart warm and its bough strong. Lord, so let it be with me, I pray Thee. Amen.
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, Where is your God?” These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God, With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival. Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence.” Psalm 42: 1-5
We all have expectations, and if our hopes fail to materialize, we feel disappointed. There’s nothing wrong with this emotion as long as we don’t let it become all-consuming despair. In such a state of mind, we might find our circumstances dominate us, which can lead to sinful responses.
For example, we may become angry at God because we think He has let us down. When that’s the case, we’re essentially saying we know better and the Lord should have worked the situation out according to our desires. Can you see the pride in such thinking? Certainly He doesn’t expect us to be happy about our adversity. But as difficult as it is, we need to humble ourselves under His sovereign hand and accept that He has jurisdiction over both our joys and our trials. This attitude becomes possible once we realize everything that happens is designed for our good so that we can become more like Christ.
When life deals you a painful blow and your soul is in despair, turn your eyes away from your situation and place them on the Lord. Put your hope in Him, knowing that difficulties and suffering are temporary. Hopefully there will soon come a time when you again joyfully praise Him here on earth, as all His children will do eternally in heaven.
No Mistake in the Scriptures Psalm 12:6; Matthew 22:29
I do not hesitate to say that I believe that there is no mistake whatever in the original Holy Scriptures from beginning to end. There may be, and there are, mistakes of translation; for translators are not inspired; but even the historical facts are correct. Doubt has been cast upon them here and there, and at times with great show of reason—doubt which it has been impossible to meet for a season; but only give space enough, and search enough, and the stones buried in the earth cry out to confirm each letter of Scripture.

So that you are not lacking any gift, as you wait for the revealing of the Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end. – I Corinthians 1:7-8
Scripture reading: Nahum 1:1 and I Corinthians 1:4-9; 26-31
What do we really know about Nahum of Elkosh? The location of his hometown is unknown. Was he one of the deported people, a displaced person in Nineveh anointed by the Spirit of the LORD to daringly proclaim this warning? Was he part of Galilee, the region of Northern Israel that constantly had invaders running through it? He’d be part of the despised of Israel – those people – who’d intermarried with foreigners. Some think he was from Judah; that is the opinion of many scholars.
Reflecting on this man’s ministry leads me to think he is incredibly brave. Think of it. If he were one of the deportees, his bold testimony about the downfall of Nineveh would amount to treason. No doubt the enemy would want to silence him. If he lived in Galilee, then others from Israel might mock him as a hick from a backwater town. If he is from Judah, he might be despised by the people from the other ten tribes, who were so oppressed by the Assyrians.
When the LORD takes hold of a man or a woman, He calls this person to serve Him, regardless of the consequences. When the LORD our God raises you up in Jesus Christ, He gives the Spirit so that you can serve with holy boldness. Know this, being a servant of the LORD comes at a cost. You may feel nameless. God knows you intimately. Jesus is your Ruler; therefore, your true citizenship is in heaven, where Jesus is.

A pregnant American woman stranded in Afghanistan because of Joe Biden’s corruption and incompetence recounted her horrifying experience trying to get to Kabul airport, only to be blocked by the Taliban.
Nasria, a 25-year-old California native, says she tried to get to Kabul airport after the State Department instructed her to go to a specific location and reassured her that someone would come get her.
However, after waiting 13 hours without food or water she was forced to retreat.
Nasria said the Taliban pointed a gun to her head and even shot at her when she tried to make a run for the airport past the blockades.
After being abandoned by Joe Biden, Nasria is now wondering, “Am I going to end up dying here? What’s going to happen?”
Nasria said the Taliban is now hunting down Americans left behind by Joe Biden.

The FDA and CDC’s own statistics in their Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database actually implicate them in their crimes against humanity, and yet most people are still sleeping and deluded by the Big Pharma-funded corporate media which continues to lie to the American people on a daily basis.
Here are the current stats of injuries and deaths among 12 to 17-year-olds during the past 9 months since the COVID injections were authorized, and keep in mind that authorization for 12 to 15-year-olds did not come until May 11th, less than 5 months ago.
Also keep in mind that this is a very tiny percentage of all actual cases, as many healthcare whistleblowers have now come forward to report that there is pressure put on doctors and nurses to NOT attribute an injury or death to the COVID vaccines and file a report with VAERS (which takes on average about 30 minutes to do).
There is no hope, no future, without election integrity reform. NOW.

U.S. officials are looking into reports that in the frantic evacuation of desperate Afghans from Kabul, older men were admitted together with young girls they claimed as ‘brides’ or otherwise sexually abused.
U.S. officials at intake centers in the United Arab Emirates and in Wisconsin have identified numerous incidents in which Afghan girls have been presented to authorities as the ‘wives’ of much older men.
While child marriage is not uncommon in Afghanistan, the U.S. has strict policies against human trafficking that include prosecutions for offenders and sanctions for countries that don’t crack down on it.
One internal document seen by The Associated Press says the State Department has sought ‘urgent guidance’ from other agencies after purported child brides were brought to Fort McCoy in Wisconsin.
Another document, described to the AP by officials familiar with it, says Afghan girls at a transit site in Abu Dhabi have alleged they have been raped by older men they were forced to marry in order to escape Afghanistan.

Evacuees from Afghanistan wait in a terminal for their flight to the United States at the US Air Base in Ramstein, Germany earlier this week
A dining facility is being prepared for the arrival of Afghan refugees at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin
The State Department had no immediate comment on the documents or the veracity of the details in them.
Officials say that they take all such allegations seriously but that many of them are anecdotal and difficult to prove, particularly amid the crush of Afghan evacuees at multiple locations in the Middle East, Europe and the United States.
An Aug. 27 situation report sent to all U.S. embassies and consulates abroad as well as military command centers in Florida points to potential issues involving young girls and older men, some of whom claim to have more than one wife at Fort McCoy, a sprawling 60,000-acre Army base in Wisconsin.
Relevant portions of the document, titled ‘Afghanistan Task Force SitRep No. 63,’ were obtained by the AP.
Ramstein Air Base is serving as major hub in the operation to evacuate people from Afghanistan, as the site is the world’s largest US air force base outside the United States
Afghan refugees are being sent to a number of military bases throughout the U.S. as they arrive at Washington’s Dulles International Airport
More than 123,000 people, mostly Afghans, have been evacuated by Biden administration-led charter flights and international allies since August 15 during the chaotic Kabul withdrawal
‘Intake staff at Fort McCoy reported multiple cases of minor females who presented as `married´ to adult Afghan men, as well as polygamous families,’ the document says. ‘Department of State has requested urgent guidance.’
There was no immediate indication from the military or from the departments of homeland security and health and human services, which run the facility, that such guidance had been received. At the same time, U.S. officials in the United Arab Emirates have expressed similar concerns, sending a diplomatic cable to Washington warning that some young Afghan girls had been forced into marriages in order to escape Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover.
Officials familiar with the cable say it describes allegations by several girls at the Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi that they had been sexually assaulted by their ‘husbands’ and seeks guidance on how to handle such cases.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss internal communications.
The politics of COVID-19 are becoming too obvious. Joe Biden’s approval ratings are collapsing. In response the White House messaging team led by Chief of Staff Ron Klain drop back to the value of COVID fear and start promoting the need for multiple booster shots; or else. There appears to be a pattern as the same political messaging group behind California Governor Gavin Newsom are promoting the same approach. However, they have a problem.
The Democrat reliance on the COVID fear as a political tool is wearing off; perhaps the panic has an expiration date, or perhaps people are starting to realize the politics of manipulated COVID messaging is just that, ‘political messaging’. The vaccine results from Israel undercut the U.S. vaccine narrative; simultaneously the open-society results from Sweeden show how society can function without chasing endless mitigation efforts (ie masks) that provide no benefit.
Many Americans are absorbing all the information available on a daily basis and appear to be seeing-through the ever-evolving, ever-changing, ever-contradictory, non-scientific COVID dictates. Yes, there is a virus; but also, these government directed solutions are delivering worse outcomes than the virus itself.
As a result of growing public cynicism health officials inside the administration are attempting to retain what little remains of their own crumbling credibility. Health officials inside the administration are now pushing back against the White House direction to promote never-ending and untested vaccine ‘booster shots’ as tools for fear and control over people.
WASHINGTON — Top federal health officials have told the White House to scale back a plan to offer coronavirus booster shots to the general public this month, saying that regulators need more time to collect and review all the necessary data, according to people familiar with the discussion.
Dr. Janet Woodcock, the acting commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, and Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, who heads the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, warned the White House on Thursday that their agencies may be able to determine in the coming weeks whether to recommend boosters only for recipients of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine — and possibly just some of them to start.
The two health leaders made their argument in a meeting with Jeffrey D. Zients, the White House pandemic coordinator. Several people who heard about the session said it was unclear how Mr. Zients responded. (read more)
The White House was pushing eight month boosters, then it shifted to six month boosters, and now the entire booster premise is on hold. Apparently Woodcock and Walensky noted the messaging just looked a little goofy when contrast against the “follow the science” talking points.
Joe Biden’s Chief of Staff, Ron Klain, resembles the passenger:
Rudy Giuliani was on with Steve Bannon at the War Room and he made another case for why Joe Biden is guilty of treason. Rudy shared:
Treason can only take place during a time of war. We define what was going on in Afghanistan as war. Before he ended the war and took our troops out, he gave them two or three billion dollars of very dangerous armaments, including black hawk helicopters, bombs, explosives, biometric equipment. He gave them to our enemy.
Then he gave them the names of the people who cooperated with them. And he gave them biometric equipment to help them go find those people and kill them which now, they’re doing. They’re carrying it out….
…The Constitution says that treason is giving help to our enemy in time of war. According to him [Biden] according to Trump we were at war in Afghanistan.
More than 200 demonstrations against the so-called coronavirus health pass have been scheduled for Saturday across France. In Paris alone thousands of people joined rallies against what they call a violation of people’s rights.
Massive crowds flooded the streets of the French capital on Saturday. Several thousand demonstrators marched through the Boulevard Saint-Marcel in the southeastern part of the city toward the Place de la Bastille.
Mainstream media likely to write off Paris protests as a "handful" again today.
People were holding placards that read ‘Stop’, chanting ‘Freedom’ and beating drums. Some of the protesters were seen wearing yellow vests – a symbol of another massive protest movement that was active in France for about a year and a half between October 2018 and March 2020.
Some 2,000 joined the march, according to the French media. At the Place de la Bastille, where the march was heading, the police used tear gas against a group of demonstrators that sought to join the protest, according to RT France’s journalist, Charles Baudry.
Demonstrators also attempted to deviate from the major march route in Paris on several other occasions, prompting the police to intervene, the French media reported. The rallies went off peacefully otherwise.
Large gatherings were also seen in other parts of the city. A total of five rallies were scheduled in the French capital on Saturday. A massive crowd gathered near the Eiffel Tower. The demonstrators were waving French national flags and were holding a large orange banner with the word ‘Freedom’ written on it.
The French authorities told the media they expected between 17,000 and 27,000 people to take to the streets of the French capital alone. Yet, Paris was far from the only place in France to see massive rallies against the so-called health pass.
Between 2,000 and 2,500 protesters also gathered in the southern city of Marseille. Massive demonstrations were also held in Nice, Toulon and Lille. A large gathering was held in the eastern French town of Albertville where people were chanting: “We are here, even if Macron does not want us.”
A total of 200 rallies were scheduled for Saturday across France. The French authorities said they expected between 130,000 and 170,000 people to join the protests nationwide. The protests have been held for the eighth consecutive weekend in a row.

The rallies began in mid-July after President Emmanuel Macron’s government introduced a system that made presenting a vaccination certificate or negative Covid-19 test obligatory for those willing to visit a restaurant, theater, cinema and shopping mall or travel on a long-distance train.
The authorities maintain that the measure is needed to encourage people to get the jabs and eventually avoid another lockdown. Over 60% of French citizens have been fully vaccinated and 72% received at least one dose, according to Reuters.
Those who haven’t got the shot yet, or are not planning to at all, claim that the health pass diminishes their rights and turns them into second class citizens. Still, the introduction of the health pass is supported by at least 67% of the population, the French media report, citing a fresh poll conducted by Odoxa-Backbone Consulting for the French Le Figaro newspaper.
After that, newspapers and other outlets essentially went silent.
But the reports now are appearing on social media sites over which the Taliban has little or no influence.
Since Aug. 15, while the U.S. still was evacuating people, the report explains, “their fighters have been roaming the streets of Kabul and other provinces, carrying heavy weapons and terrorizing Afghan civilians.”
Now, “scores of tweets indicate that civilian Afghans are being terrorized by Taliban fighters in Afghanistan,” the organization reported.
One journalist, Habib Khan said on August 29: “Spoke to several Afghan journalists, most of them are in hiding, especially female journalists. Some of them tried to go back to work but were turned away by the Taliban. They can’t hide forever, and they must be relocated to safer locations.”
Just days earlier there appeared a video “of the Taliban members beating unarmed Afghans in Kabul,” the report said.
Kabul resident Lemar Siddiqui explained, “Look at this atrocity. He beat this young man once in Kabul yesterday and then martyred him in front of his wife.”
And Sami Mahdi, a Kabul University lecturer, shared a video on August 28 of an Afghan musician who was kidnapped and murdered by the Taliban jihadis.
Mahdi wrote: “Fawad Andarabi, a local artist, was dragged out of his home yesterday and killed by the Taliban in Kishnabad village of Andarab. He was a famous folk singer in the valley. His son has confirmed the incident.”
MEMRI warned, “Although the Afghan Taliban have publicly promised to protect minorities and women in Afghanistan, their cadres have a deeply ideological-religious view on human rights. Like the Islamic State (ISIS), most Sunni groups in South Asia including the Afghan Taliban do not consider Shi’ites to be Muslims.”
The report noted on August 30, former Afghan minister of interior Masood Andarabi “tweeted a picture of a 22-year-old sportsman who was killed by the Taliban.”
The former official said, “Taliban’s brutality must stop. His name was Paiman, 22, a sportsman and a tailor. He was coming home to Andarab from a neighboring province when he was taken [captive] at a Taliban’s checkpoint and brutally executed on the side of the road. His crime. Being Andarabi. killings must stop.”
Kabul-based journalist Tajuden Soroush revealed on social media the report of the Taliban’s execution of a man in Kabul: “Taliban shot dead a young man in Shahar Naw area of Kabul. Local journalists say, Taliban had told him stop, when he did not stop his car then the Taliban shot him by PK machine gun…”
And journalist Waheed Paikan described another attack: “The Taliban shot dead the… government commander in Badghis province. His name is Haji Mullah… Taliban pardoned him a few days ago and gave him an amnesty, but he was shot.”
“Similarly, Majeed Qarar reported the killing of an Afghan soldier by the Taliban after he was pardoned. Col. Darwesh, the 29-year-old who served in the 8th Battalion in Helmand province, was granted amnesty by the Taliban, but later they knocked on his door, took him on the pretext of helping a patient at a hospital and killed him, noted Majeed Qarar in his tweet,” MEMRI reported.
The report noted, “It seems that after the Taliban seized Kabul, reports of extrajudicial killings in various provinces became routine but such killings were not reported in the national and international media, which has been focused on the Taliban’s efforts on government formation in Kabul.”
After admission, I spoke to the nurse on the COVID ward. She was suited up in a plastic yellow disposable gown, teal gloves, and two masks underneath a recirculating personal respiratory system that buzzed so loudly she could barely hear. The nurse told me that she had gotten both vaccines but she was feeling worried: “Two thirds of my patients are fully vaccinated.”
(Jennifer Margulis) “I’m not going to arm wrestle with the administration about where to put you,” Dr. C., a highly skilled gastroenterologist, said gently to my friend who was in bed in a triage room in the ER. “We just want to get you into a bed so we can figure out what’s wrong and get you treated.”
We were at our small town’s hospital. No one was sure why, but my friend had not been able to keep anything more than a handful of raspberries down since a complicated surgery for a chronic health condition three weeks before. Dehydrated and unable to eat, my friend had been violently vomiting after taking just a sip of water or sucking on an ice chip, and had lost nearly twenty-five pounds. View article →
Right now, she’s witnessing the decline of American health care. That decline is taking place in the hospital where she works and is apparent from the stories she hears from traveling nurses in other hospitals.
I spoke with Sally on the phone the other day and she laid out the following reasons for this decline.
Lack of Leadership
For several years now, and especially during the Wuhan virus, Sally has noticed the absence of leadership in her hospital. One hospital director spent most of her time Zooming with underlings from across the country. Another director has never bothered to meet his subordinates. A supervisor who has no training in management or people skills was more concerned with start times in the OR than with patient care. “They’re just filling a box,” Sally explained, meaning the organization running the hospital checks off a box as a position filled and moves on.
Shortage of Supplies
“We’ve always run a little short of supplies,” Sally said, “but the pandemic exacerbated the situation. We’re even low on such items as drapes and gloves for surgery. A lot of these items come from overseas, from places like China or Mexico.”
Joe Biden is putting the lives of children in danger at our southern border by sending them God knows where into the hands of God knows whom.
Brandon Judd, who is the president of the National Border Patrol Council which represents all rank-and-file Border Patrol agents nationwide, brings us the details.
Judd: Recent reports show the Biden administration has lost contact with 40% or approximately 45,000 of the more than 114,000 unaccompanied children who have crossed the border illegally this year. While this fact is startling, it should come as no surprise.
President Biden’s haphazard approach to border security along with his ineptness and apparent unwillingness to properly safeguard the lives of the innocent and exploitable is what led to this catastrophe. Most disturbing is the knowledge that with political will, this matter is easily resolved. There are issues that must be addressed to arrive at a proper resolution.
1. The Flores Settlement must be challenged, or the government must invest in “less restrictive” facilities. It is a misconception that the government must release children within 20 days of apprehension. While it is true that the government must release children from traditional detention facilities within 20 days, the children may be held in “the least restrictive” facilities possible pending adjudication of their immigration/asylum cases. But the Biden Administration never invested in the types of less restrictive facilities needed prior to abolishing Trump era programs that were working. Instead, the Administration opted to release children to sponsors, thereby reintroducing the catch and release magnet that has drawn so many to our country illegally.
It was only a matter of time before criminal organizations started exploiting the Biden administration’s decision. Due to the Flores Settlement’s inherent flaws in allowing children to be exploited by criminal organizations, the Trump administration was gearing up to challenge Flores. But a protracted fight in the courts wouldn’t solve the immediate problem, which is one of the reasons President Trump implemented the MPP or “Remain in Mexico Program”. The MPP effectively ended the exploitation of children in the United States.
By ending the Remain in Mexico Program the Biden administration opened the door for vulnerable children to once again be exploited. A court recently ruled the Remain in Mexico Program was unlawfully rescinded and must be immediately reimplemented. But to date the Biden administration has not complied. Full compliance would protect children from exploitation in the US.
2. The government must handle crises better. Federal Agencies are inept during the best of times, and they fall apart during stressful situations (reference Afghanistan, Hurricane Katrina, etc.) This is largely because senior officials are very rarely held accountable for failures, and the Biden administration has been the worst I’ve ever seen. In the first few months of President Biden’s administration, the Border Patrol apprehended more unaccompanied children than at any point in its history.
The Biden administration wasn’t prepared, and the Border Patrol was forced to hold a good number of these children long past what the law allowed. Instead of creating a long-term solution, the Biden administration merely cut back on the vetting process of the sponsors to whom children were being released. This decision was made in the name of expediency rather than the safety and well-being of the child. Even under ideal circumstances vetting is a gamble, but when the government cuts corners it is guaranteed to fail. And failure in this case means the lives of vulnerable children are put in danger.
