Jesus’ Seven “I Am” Statements from the Gospel of John

Jesus’ “I am” statements would have particular significance to the first-century Jewish listener. God had revealed Himself to Moses with a resounding “I AM” (Ex. 3:14). Now Jesus was using the same words to describe Himself (4:26; 6:20; 13:19).[1]

Title  Reference  Context  Significance
“I am the bread of life.”  6:35, 41, 48, 51  After Jesus had fed the five thousand and the people wanted more free food.  As bread sustains physical life, so Christ offers and sustains spiritual life. The nourishment and satisfaction He offers are permanent.
“I am the light of the world.”  8:12  During the Feast of Tabernacles. At this feast a huge candelabra was lit in the women’s court of the temple. It reminded the Israelites of the pillar of fire, which guided their ancestors during the wilderness wanderings.  To a world stumbling about in the darkness of sin, Christ offers Himself as a constant guide. Light is also symbolic of holiness.
“I am the door of the sheep.”  10:7, 9  During a discourse with Israel’s religious leaders in which Jesus in essence declared them to be unfit shepherds of the nation.  Shepherds guided their flocks into stone enclosures each night to protect them. These structures had no doors. The shepherd would sit or lie in the opening to prevent predators from attacking. Thus Jesus was describing His care and constant devotion to those who are His.
“I am the good shepherd.”  10:11, 14  Same as above.  Unlike hirelings who might run away and leave the flock unprotected, Jesus is committed to caring for and keeping watch over His people.
“I am the resurrection and the life.”  11:25  After Lazarus had died.  Jesus is the Lord of all life and possesses the power to raise the dead. Death is not the final word, for all who are in Christ will live forever.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”  14:6  When the disciples were confused about Jesus’ statements about heaven.  Jesus is the one and only way to the Father. He is the source of all truth and the source for all knowledge about God. He offers to spiritually dead people the very life of God.
“I am the true vine.”  15:1, 5  In the Upper Room Discourse on the night of His arrest.  The OT contains many references to Israel as God’s vine (Ps. 80:8; Is. 5:1–7; Ezek. 15; Hos. 10:1). But because of the nation’s unfruitfulness, Jesus came to fulfill God’s plan. By attaching ourselves to Christ, we enable His life to flow in and through us. Then we cannot help but bear fruit that will honor the Father. In this metaphor, He is the Gardener.[2]

September 7 Evening Quotes of The Day

Sell All, and Buy Salvation
Matthew 13:44–46; 19:21; Mark 10:21; Luke 18:22

See that you buy the field where the pearl is. Sell all, and make a purchase of salvation. Do not think it easy, for it is a steep ascent to eternal glory. Many are lying dead by the way, who were slain with security.

Nothing More Dangerous Than Leading Change
Genesis 19:14; Numbers 14:1–10; Acts 18:6; 19:9

Let it be noted that there is no more delicate matter to take in hand, nor more dangerous to conduct, nor more doubtful in its success, than to set up as a leader in the introduction of changes. For he who innovates will have for his enemies all those who are well off under the existing order of things, and only lukewarm supporters in those who might be better off under the new. This lukewarm temper arises partly from the fear of adversaries who have the laws on their side, and partly from the incredulity of mankind, who will never admit the merit of anything new, until they have seen it proved by the event.

Perfect Willingness — VCY America

Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power. (Psalm 110:3)

Blessed be the God of grace that it is so! He has a people whom He has chosen from of old to be His peculiar portion. These by nature have wills as stubborn as the rest of the froward sons of Adam; but when the day of His power comes and grace displays its omnipotence, they become willing to repent and to believe in Jesus. None are saved unwillingly, but the will is made sweetly to yield itself. What a wondrous power is this, which never violates the will and yet rules it! God does not break the lock, but He opens it by a master key which He alone can handle.

Now are we willing to be, to do, or to suffer as the Lord wills. If at any time we grow rebellious, He has but to come to us with power, and straightway we run in the way of His commands with all our hearts. May this be a day of power with me as to some noble effort for the glory of God and the good of my fellowmen! Lord, I am willing; may I not hope that this is a day of Thy power? I am wholly at Thy disposal; willing, yea, eager, to be used of Thee for Thy holy purposes. O Lord, let me not have to cry, “To will is present with me, but how to perform that which I would, I find not”; but give me power as Thou givest me will.

September 7 – Confronting worthless counsellors — Reformed Perspective

For he [Jesus] must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. – I Corinthians 15:25

Scripture reading: Nahum 1:9-11 and Ps. 2

What folly it is to be an enemy of the LORD. It is as if an educator were deliberately seeking to erase the LORD from curriculum; this person proves to be worthless. The original language names this person as a counsellor of ruin. It is a direct accusation against Nineveh. The expression “from you” is feminine, a reference to the city of Nineveh. Such advice ultimately will bring ruin because it has not factored in the might of the LORD.

What will happen to plotters of folly? It’ll be like a cruel army making battle strategies without any reference to probable counterattacks. What will the result be? They will look so foolish in hindsight, mocked for marching right into a thicket of thorn-filled brambles and wild bushes. Their ineptitude will make them seem like an army of drunks, falling down in a stupor, making them objects of ridicule.

Why? Any plans which are formulated against the LORD will fail. The LORD will not be mocked. He has set His King on His holy hill—it is a reference to the Davidic monarchy, and ultimately to Jesus Christ—David’s greater son, Jesus enthroned as the eternal One, Ruler of Heaven and Earth. None of His plans can ever fail or be thwarted. Take great encouragement when you face plotters of ruin, for the LORD Who oversees all of history, Whose plans are yes and amen in Jesus Christ, is triumphing even now. The eyes of faith will see it.

Suggestions for prayer

Remember teachers and professors who are teaching this new school year. Pray for the spiritual protection of our children and youth that they may discern who is wise to the plans of the LORD and who are counselors of ruin. Praise God His plans never fail.

Tearing Down or Building Up? — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

The Jews replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” But the temple he had spoken of was his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spokenJohn 2:20-22

Over twenty years ago, I watched it being built over a number of months and I remember attending the grand opening. It was a building not far from where I live. It has been occupied by more than one business and most recently been vacant.

On my way to the office one morning, I noticed some equipment around the building and several trucks. When I returned, later in the day, more than half the building was gone and by the next day the site where the building once stood was void of any trace of building and was a vacant parcel of property, scraped clean to the bare earth.

I pondered about how long it takes to build a building and how quickly it can be torn down. I thought of the passage of Scripture where the Jews challenged Jesus on his statement that he would tear down the Temple and rebuild it in three days – a structure that took forty-six years to build. He, of course was talking about a different kind of Temple.

I thought about how this applies to my life and recalled 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”

As I contemplated that Scripture, it occurred to me about how long it takes to build up my body to be worthy and reflective of being a vessel of the Holy Spirit. It includes building character, integrity, trustworthiness and respect. It takes years to firmly ingrain those traits in a body created in sin.

But then consider how quickly our bodies can be torn down. We are tested by Satan and tempted by sin. Sometimes just one stumble can in a moment wipe out years of character building and Satan baits us when we are least expecting it and when we are most vulnerable.

We must all be careful to not stumble on sin and in an instant erase what God took years to build.

You Can Hope Again — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again — my Savior and my God!” Psalm 42:11 (NLT)

When your heart has been shattered, it’s hard to make sense of all the broken pieces.

You cry out, wondering when the pain will end, when the heartaches will disappear. You have done all you can do, but relief seems so far away.

Today, take your eyes off the pain and look above. Hope lies in the beauty of every new day that is given. Take comfort in knowing that God allows new beginnings. Each day is a day for His grace to overshadow your painful past. It’s a day that leads to a better tomorrow.

You have been given a second chance at life, a second chance at love. It is in these moments when God’s hand is evident. He is able to mend the broken pieces and give you beauty for ashes. He is able to wipe away every tear that you shed and give you new life.

Will you choose to see His love through the pain of your yesterday? Or will you allow Him to open your eyes to the joys that surround you? It may seem as though your world is falling apart, but to God, it may just be falling into place. Nothing we encounter takes Him by surprise. In exchange for the broken pieces, He gives us renewed hope, a greater strength, and an abundance of His peace.

Lord, I pray for my brothers and sisters who have been struggling with broken relationships, broken dreams, or a broken heart. You see them and You are very aware of what they’re going through. I ask that You will minister healing and wholeness to them right now and allow them to see a glimpse of hope. You are the lover of their souls and You have their best interest at heart. I thank You for restoration. I thank You for renewed hope. In Jesus’ name, amen.

September 7 Afternoon Quotes of The Day

Prayer Is the Key to Understanding Scripture
1 Corinthians 2:12–13

When we have no commentator or minister, we have still the Holy Spirit; and let me tell you a little secret: whenever you cannot understand a text, open your Bible, bend your knee, and pray over that text; and if it does not split into atoms and open itself, try again. If prayer does not explain it, it is one of the things God did not intend you to know, and you may be content to be ignorant of it. Prayer is the key that opens the cabinets of mystery. Prayer and faith are sacred picklocks that can open secrets, and obtain great treasures. There is no college for holy education like that of the blessed Spirit, for he is an ever-present tutor, to whom we have only to bend the knee, and he is at our side, the great expositor of truth.

Do Not Be Surprised if You Cannot Understand God
Psalm 145:3; Ecclesiastes 3:11; 8:16–17; Isaiah 55:8–9; John 20:9; Romans 11:33; Philippians 2:6–11

We ought therefore not to be surprised that there is much in God which we cannot understand, and that very many truths of the faith we cannot yet prove since we do not yet know everything. The great God in His rich mercy saw our poor knowledge and came into our flesh and assumed it that He might work for us, die, and rise again from the dead; until after a life full of love He raised Himself above the world of sense into His eternity.

God’s Appointed Times – Watching September With Anticipation
The Bible has a tremendous amount to say about the period of time that we commonly refer to as “the end times” or “the last days”, and I believe that it won’t be too long before God starts intervening in the affairs of humanity in some pretty extraordinary ways. Of course God already intervenes in our affairs far more than most people realize. Let me give you just one recent example. Over the past several decades, whenever there has been a significant event that has involved the federal government pushing for the division of the land of Israel, the U.S. has been hit with a major disaster very shortly thereafter.

Authorities are racing to contain deadly Nipah virus outbreak in India
Authorities in India’s southern Kerala state are racing to contain an outbreak of the Nipah virus. The virus, which is not related to the coronavirus behind the current global pandemic and is far more deadly, killed a 12-year-old boy in Kerala over the weekend, prompting stepped-up efforts to trace his contacts.

Prized trout streams shrink as heat, drought grip US West
The North Platte River in southern Wyoming has been so low in places lately that a toddler could easily wade across and thick mats of olive-green algae grow in the lazy current. Just over two years ago, workers stacked sandbags to protect homes and fishing cabins from raging brown floodwaters, the highest on record. Neither scene resembles the proper picture of a renowned trout fishing destination

Biden’s spokeswoman calls COVID-19 a global ‘PLANDEMIC’
Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary for Joe Biden, is getting some extra attention on the internet after she called COVID-19 a “global plandemic” with the letter L, instead of pandemic. “The quote is crystal clear,” noted the National File, adding, “‘Plandemic’ was the name of a viral but heavily-censored film in 2020 starring whistleblower Dr. Judy Mikovits, which helped to wake people up to the coronavirus scam.”

Nasa detects 1000th asteroid to come close to Earth
Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has tracked the 1000th Near-Earth Asteroid (NEA) after its radars picked up 2021 PJ1 as it passed at a distance of just 1.7 million kilometers from Earth. While the asteroid did not pose any danger to the planet, its remote size made it difficult to be tracked. Initial radar observations showed it to be between 65 and 100 feet wide. Despite its small size, the asteroid managed to get its name recorded in history books as the 1000th near-earth object to cross the planet.

Tropical disturbance could reach Louisiana next week; heavy rain possible, forecasters say
The system has a 30% chance of developing into at least a tropical depression within five days. It will be named Mindy if it strengthens into a tropical storm. It’s too soon to tell how much of a threat the system could be to Louisiana. Forecasters with the National Weather Service said it could bring heavy rain to the Gulf Coast regardless of development, but it is still several days away and things can change.

Catholic media tries to distance Pope from role in Holocaust
Due to the Vatican’s silence during the Holocaust, Pope Pius XII has been dubbed ‘Hitler’s Pope. FEATURED ANALYSIS

Oh Those Embarrassing Media COVID Corrections

Nate Jackson

Do you ever feel like the message coming from the mainstream media is something like: If you get COVID, you’re going to die, but don’t dare try any mitigation techniques that aren’t approved by our “fact-checkers”? That’s essentially what happened with the recent story about popular podcast host Joe Rogan and a drug called Ivermectin. Well, as Nobel Prize recipient Richard Feynman said a half century ago, “There is a considerable amount of intellectual tyranny in the name of science.”

We’re not here to say that Ivermectin is or isn’t effective against the coronavirus. But Rogan told his 13.1 million followers that it was part of a regimen of treatments he took when he tested positive for COVID, and he claimed to “feel great” after taking the cocktail of medications.

The two scientists who developed Ivermectin received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2015. But because Ivermectin is used to treat a variety of parasites like head lice and scabies in humans and is also used to treat horses and cows, and because the FDA currently frowns upon its use for COVID, Rogan was mercilessly mocked by the media for taking something meant for deworming horses.

The trouble is that the media got basic facts wrong.

Based on erroneous local reporting, Rolling Stone reported that so many people in Oklahoma were overdosing on Ivermectin that hospital emergency rooms were overwhelmed to the point of running out of ambulances and turning away gunshot victims. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and a whole bunch of other outlets ran with the story too. It was utterly false, and Rolling Stone was forced to issue a correction. As we go to press, Maddow still hasn’t deleted her tweet of the story.

Similarly, the Associated Press had to issue a massive correction to an article falsely claiming “that 70% of recent calls to the Mississippi Poison Control Center were from people who had ingested ivermectin to try to treat COVID-19.” The real number? 2%.

Rolling Stone originally asserted that people are making “false claims” that Ivermectin “could fight COVID-19.” Never mind that researchers are still studying that. Shouldn’t we wait for their findings before some keyboard jockey at a culture magazine settles the science?

We’d say these yahoos ought to know better, but the people who really ought to know better are the ones who take these “journalists” seriously. Rolling Stone is infamous for its completely botched reporting on rape allegations at the University of Virginia. And Maddow had egg on her face for her supposed blockbuster on Donald Trump’s tax returns. That doesn’t scratch the surface of fake news over the last five years.

Anyone reporting or analyzing the news is going to make a mistake at some point. The problem is that these aren’t just mistakes; they’re deliberate lies aimed at enforcing the narrative while smearing regular Americans as idiots.

Indeed, the real story here is that the Leftmedia is peddling the only acceptable line of thinking, while Big Tech’s social media censors are blocking and “fact-checking” anyone with a different opinion. You must mask up, vaccinate, and, if infected, use ventilators, but you must not even think about questioning those things, much less considering Ivermectin, Hydroxychloroquine, or any other alternative. Shouldn’t decisions on treatment of a virus remain between a patient and his or her doctor?

Poll: Trump Beats Biden in 2024 Rematch

Douglas Andrews

On November 3, by a margin of 74,216,154 to zero, Donald Trump whipped Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential poll of reasonably intelligent people. Unfortunately, Joe Biden prevailed over Trump by an even bigger margin among the dullards, the uninformed, and the ballot stuffers: 81,268,924 to zero. And here we are.

Still, even as our country goes to hell, we can take solace in knowing that we voted just once, and that we voted for the right guy. Further, we can take solace in some new polls that indicate a remarkable degree of buyer’s remorse among the Biden electorate:

DISCLAIMER: Most pollsters are liars and vote suppressors, and they should be shamed out of polite society. (In fairness: Rasmussen, Trafalgar, Susquehanna, and Investor’s Business Daily were among a handful of pollsters who were consistently accurate with their 2020 presidential polling. The others, like CBS News/New York Times, NBC News/Wall Street Journal, ABC News/Washington Post, The Economist, YouGov, Quinnipiac, and Reuters/Ipsos? They were consistently inaccurate, and all as pollagandists for the Biden/Harris ticket. Out with them.)

Recently, a Rasmussen poll found that a majority of the American people want Biden to resign for his handling of our withdrawal from Afghanistan. The numbers are remarkable: 52% agree, just 39% disagree, and 9% are clearly too proud to admit they agree.

What’s more, an Emerson poll released earlier this month found Trump favored over Biden by a 47-46 margin in a hypothetical 2024 rematch. But frankly, we doubt Biden will be on the Democrat ticket three years from now. Indeed, the same poll found that among Democrat voters, 60% said they’d like to see Biden as the 2024 presidential nominee, but a whopping 39% said they’d rather see someone else on their party’s ticket.

If Democrats are thirsty for more bad news, they can find it in a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll, which has 41% of respondents strongly disapproving of the job Biden is doing, while just 19% strongly approve. This kind of gap tends to manifest itself in a sizable “enthusiasm gap,” wherein one set of voters — in this case GOP voters — are far more eager to head to the polls than Democrat voters.

So Joe Biden’s numbers are terrible. Still, were he to resign before his four-year term is up, he’d leave us with Kamala Harris, whose performance and polling might be even worse than Biden’s. Indeed, a July survey by the aforementioned Trafalgar Group found that 58.6% of respondents were “not confident at all” that Harris is ready to be president “based on her performance as vice president.” An additional 5% said they were “not very confident” in Harris, which means nearly two-thirds of the 1,161 likely voters polled had significant concerns about Biden’s “error apparent.”

In presidential politics, we call Kamala Harris impeachment insurance. In this respect, she serves the same purpose for Joe Biden as Biden himself served for Barack Obama.

When we think about that lowering of the presidential bar, the mess we find ourselves in today begins to make a lot more sense.

Will this poor polling stick, or will Biden and Harris recover? As our Mark Alexander notes: “There’s a lot of speculation about whether the outrage over Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal will subside as the MSM news cycle interest subsides. But here’s what the pundits are missing: The 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attack, and the one-year anniversary of Biden’s Afghanistan disaster and all of its consequences, will occur just before the midterm elections next year.”

A Big Bad Biden IRS

Thomas Gallatin

Joe Biden wants to effectively double the size of the Internal Revenue Service. His plan is to add $80 billion in spending on the tax agency over the next 10 years with the supposed goal of increasing tax enforcement in order to collect more revenue for the government. According to Biden, his IRS expansion would net the government $700 billion more in taxes paid. However, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s calculations, Biden’s bolstered IRS would likely only produce $200 billion in additional tax revenue, and that would be a quickly diminishing amount.

Is tax cheating such a massive problem that doubling the size of the IRS is the solution to crack down on these cheats? If so, where’s the evidence?

Notably, Biden touts an increase in government revenue as his rationale, not the enforcement of tax laws that few people are breaking. Furthermore, as every American who has ever attempted to file taxes knows, the ridiculous complexity within the tax code can leave a taxpayer with a sense of uncertainty and doubt, hoping that everything was done correctly and that the IRS won’t perform a random audit and ding them for some minutia of the code that was missed or misapplied. That’s why there’s a cottage industry of tax preparers to specifically cater to middle- and low-income Americans.

If so much tax revenue is being missed, why isn’t Biden’s first suggestion a call to simplify the tax code rather than spending billions more to further squeeze taxpayers? With all the government waste, which amounts to billions of dollars every year, why isn’t Biden calling for a serious accounting of government spending? Of course, the answer is simple: Biden’s not looking out for American taxpayers, he’s looking for means to expand the size and power of the federal government.

Why else is the Biden administration seeking to empower the IRS with greater authority to step all over Americans’ privacy rights via a new policy requirement for financial institutions to report all personal and business transactions valued over $600? The current threshold on transactions that incur such reporting to governmental authorities is $5,000. Why the massive decrease, especially in light of the fact that growing inflation is only leading to prices increasing? Logically, based upon the original rationale of the policy, the Biden administration should be looking to increase the threshold accordingly, so as to avoid as much as possible any further intrusion on Americans’ privacy rights.

The real reason behind Biden’s plan to massively increase the size of the IRS is increasing the government’s ability to monitor and control the American populace. The rationale is ultimately not about fighting crime or increasing government revenue. Rather, for authoritarian socialists, the real goal is the accumulation of power.

Stop the Left’s Beatdown of Our Military

Teaching our military personnel to hate America is unconscionable.

Robin Smith

One year ago on September 4, 2020, a memo was issued by then-Director of the Office of Management and Budget Russell Vought revealing that executive branch agencies had spent millions of taxpayer dollars “training government workers to believe divisive, anti-American propaganda.” The memo transitioned into a directive. Agencies were ordered to identify and cancel contracts and defund spending for training on Critical Race Theory, white privilege, “or any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests either … that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or … that any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.” Critical Race Theory, an indoctrination threatening our schools, media, corporate America, and military, was recognized and terminated by the administration of President Donald Trump.

On President Joe Biden’s first day in office, however, an executive order was signed to revoke this Trump action. “Our diversity is one of our country’s greatest strengths,” Biden bloviated. That action threatens to use the personnel and service academies of the United States Armed Forces as a tool to destroy our nation from within.

Fellow Americans, we’re witnessing a crisis. We’ve discussed before that our children face indoctrination and propaganda that cause them to doubt their identities, their family structures, and their great nations. Now, everyone from kids in school to our military personnel are taught that our nation is inherently prejudiced and that “systemic racism” is rampant.

How does diversity and inclusion training harm the U.S. Armed Forces? Empathizing with and understanding the men and women with whom you serve is definitely virtuous and adds to team-building, yet the very composition of that which is taught is divisive and not unifying. Instead of being taught the practices and ideologies of one’s opponents and allies, our warriors are now studying the roles of the oppressed or the oppressor throughout all of society, including among their own peers and colleagues.

The reading lists at West Point and the Navy now contain books by Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo, race-hustlers cashing in on sowing discord and blame. Among those defending these texts and the resumption of this radical training has been Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Recall his stunning statement before the House Committee on Armed Services declaring: “It’s important actually for those of us in uniform to be open-minded and be widely read. I want to understand white rage.” If Milley and his woke colleagues had been as devoted to following through on the 2020 structured plan to exit Afghanistan, they could have protected the lives of our military and innocents — many of whom weren’t exactly “white.”

The United States Armed Services attract those whose personal strengths form successful and cohesive units to become stronger than they could’ve ever been on their own. These men and women took the common oath “to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” — to fight the oppressor, not focus on traits that divide and disrupt. No other nation is foolish enough to risk its national security by turning its military into a social program. The men and women of our military, under President Joe Biden and the leadership of Democrats, are now being taught to hate this great land. We’re thankful most of them don’t buy it, but how long with that last?

Who’ll fight for America when so many are taught to hate it? Those who love their great land and are fed up with the beatdown of America’s greatness, that’s who.

Toxic Double Standards Get More Blatant

We’ve always known the Left does this, but examples just keep piling up.

Harold Hutchison

Your Patriot Post team has warned of the toxic effect that double standards can have on the United States of America. Well, grassroots Patriots have even more reason to be skeptical about just how fair the playing field is based on new evidence that is emerging on a number of fronts.

Let’s take the shooting of Ashli Babbitt. When one compares it to some other high-profile shootings, like the Michael Brown case, for instance. Officer Darren Wilson of the Ferguson Police Department went through an ordeal, even though Brown had tried to take his gun, an action that warrants the use of deadly force.

Did Wilson ever get the “puff piece” interview with Lester Holt that the cop who pulled the trigger on Ashli Babbitt did? Many of the voices who condemned the clearly justified actions of Wilson also seemed to have no problems with the shooting of Babbitt. If anything, if it had been Donald Trump’s reelection that would have been confirmed by the electoral vote count, and a Capitol Police officer had fired a fatal shot in circumstances similar to those surrounding Ashli Babbitt, how would that have been covered by the biased media outlets?

The toxic double standards don’t stop there. We could also look at a tale of two lieutenant colonels. Marine Stuart Scheller called for accountability in the wake of the horrific bombing that killed 10 Marines, two soldiers, and a Navy corpsman during the dishonorable debacle caused by Joe Biden’s betrayal in Afghanistan and was immediately fired. He now expects to be court-martialed.

Contrast that to the hero treatment Alexander Vindman got for what Byron York describes as his political gamesmanship on behalf of the deep state. Never mind that Vindman was among a bunch of bureaucrats actively undermining his commander-in-chief. Just imagine the way the usual suspects at MSNBC would have reacted if Vindman had tried to mess with Barack Obama’s Iran giveaway or Iraq withdrawal the way he did with Trump’s policy vis-à-vis Ukraine.

Speaking of Trump’s Ukraine policy, remember how so many of those “news” outlets harped on that phone call with Ukraine’s president? Well, consider the lack of curiosity about Biden’s phone call this past July with the president of Afghanistan, one in which he allegedly expressed knowledge of the precarious situation preceding the dishonorable debacle the pullout became. If Biden is held to the standard Democrats demanded of Trump, he’d be impeached and removed.

When combined with the many earlier cases of double standards, not to mention the lies and hateful rhetoricabuses, and other assaults that defy any sense of fairness or common sense, it’s clear that much of the establishment media — and other defenders of so-called “norms” — have been running on double standards for a long time. The thing is, grassroots Patriots are tired of it, and they’re increasingly losing respect for those who not only impose double standards but also those who refuse to call them out. In the long run, that will have some dire consequences for the country.

Archbishop Targets ‘Catholic’ Biden and Pelosi

Thomas Gallatin

While self-proclaimed Roman Catholic politicians like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi launched into self-righteous tirades against Texas over its fetal heartbeat law and the U.S. Supreme Court over its refusal to intervene against it, America’s Catholic leadership has been ratcheting up its moral authority in an effort to eliminate the false dichotomy between personal faith and political conviction.

Recall that earlier this year, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone led a successful effort to issue a letter of rebuke, warning against Catholic politicians who support abortion. It was approved by a majority vote of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

However, following the latest outburst by abortion-advocating “Catholics” Biden and Pelosi, Cordileone wasn’t content to sit by quietly in order to avoid the dubious claim of “inappropriately injecting religion into politics.” He dropped an op-ed in The Washington Post titled: “Our duty to challenge Catholic politicians who support abortion rights.”

Cordileone declared:

Biden announced a “whole-of-government effort” to find ways to overcome the Texas measure. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) denounced the Supreme Court’s refusal as a “cowardly, dark-of-night decision to uphold a flagrantly unconstitutional assault on women’s rights and health,” and promised new legal action: “This ban necessitates codifying Roe v. Wade” in federal law. As a faith leader in the Catholic community, I find it especially disturbing that so many of the politicians on the wrong side of the preeminent human rights issue of our time are self-professed Catholics.

Cordileone argued that his duty is to stand rightly on “the most pressing human rights challenge of our time.” He observed: “Since the Roe decision, more than 60 million lives have been lost to abortion. Many millions more have been scarred by this experience, wounded victims whom society ignores. … Can we pastors speak softly when the blood of 60 million innocent American children cries out for justice?”

In making his case, Cordileone points to America’s not-too-distant past when, beginning in the late 1940s, New Orleans Archbishop Joseph Rummel took a stand against racism and racial segregation. “Rummel did not ‘stay in his lane,’” Cordileone writes. “He did not prioritize keeping parishioners and the public happy above advancing racial justice. Instead, he began a long, patient campaign of moral suasion to change the opinions of pro-segregation White Catholics.”

Rummel’s willingness to stand for moral truth against what was the popular opinion of the day moved him to pen a pastoral letter in 1956 in which he declared, “Racial segregation as such is morally wrong and sinful because it is a denial of the unity and solidarity of the human race as conceived by God in the creation of Adam and Eve.” The letter upended the status quo, leading to protests and boycotts, but Rummel never backed down or backed off his willingness to excommunicate Catholics who opposed desegregation.

Clearly, Cordileone has been similarly inspired to speak the truth not only to culture but to power. Like Rummel, who rightly rejected racism’s inherent effort to dehumanize and diminish the image of God in every human being, Cordileone is standing against the pro-abortion “Catholic” politicians’ efforts to reject the inherent humanity of every preborn child.

He concludes: “You cannot be a good Catholic and support expanding a government-approved right to kill innocent human beings. The answer to crisis pregnancies is not violence but love, for both mother and child. This is hardly inappropriate for a pastor to say. If anything, Catholic political leaders’ response to the situation in Texas highlights the need for us to say it all the louder.”

Amen.

SHORT CUTS

Insight: “The strength or weakness of a society depends more on the level of its spiritual life than on its level of industrialization. Neither a market economy nor even general abundance constitutes the crowning achievement of human life. If a nation’s spiritual energies have been exhausted, it will not be saved from collapse by the most perfect government structure or by any industrial development. A tree with a rotten core cannot stand.” —Alexander Solzhenitsyn (1918-2008)

“Do you think the Biden/Harris/Schumer/Pelosi strategy is to fiscally and morally bankrupt America so they can build it back as a socialist democracy? Rhetorical question.” —Mark Alexander

“It’s [unfortunate] that we go from one national embarrassment in Afghanistan to another national embarrassment on the southwest border that was again created in large part by the policies of this administration. … The Biden administration is not implementing immigration and border security law. Instead, they’re advertising that it’s okay to come to the border. They continue to let hundreds of thousands of folks across that border illegally.” —former DHS Acting Director Chad Wolf

“If one believed that it was time to withdraw, this could have been done in a more orderly fashion. For instance, we know that the Taliban don’t fight in the winter; there is a fighting season in Afghanistan. It would have been perfectly logical to wait until they had gone back into the mountains of Pakistan. I think it would have been wise to hang on to Bagram [Airbase] — maybe even some of our other seven airfields that we had there — so that transport of people out could have been slower, more orderly, could have taken place from more secure locations. I’ve been to Hamid Karzai International Airport. It’s not a place that you would want to try and secure.” —former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

“Credibility is not divisible. You can’t lose credibility in one place and maintain it in other places, because people look at the totality of what you’ve become. Our allies, who apparently weren’t really consulted properly, but most importantly had signed on to this 20-year war, are now wondering about us. And it’s going to take some work to rebuild those relationships — and you can’t just do it with words.” —Condoleezza Rice

Non compos mentis: “What you saw unfold with this noncombatant evacuation operation was one of the contingency plans. … The security of [the airport] was challenging to say the least, and we saw the bombing. But that would have happened no matter where it was.” —Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley

Race bait: “Larry Elder is a black face on white supremacy.” —California State University, Los Angeles professor Melina Abdullah

Non-solution solution: “My solution to [state pro-life laws] — which is my solution for voting rights and so many other things, including climate change, where one side of the country is in flames and the other side of the country is flooded with people dying submerged in their cars — I believe we should abolish the filibuster.” —Senator Amy Klobuchar

Village idiot III: “I stand with the women of Texas who have the Constitutional right to make decisions about their health and their own bodies.” —actress Reese Witherspoon

Village idiot IV: “It’s crazy to witness my home state of Texas pass our nation’s most restrictive abortion laws & in doing so, take many strides in the wrong direction. This is a blatant violation to all women, especially women of color.” —actress Eva Longoria Baston

Village idiot V: “I stand in solidarity with people in TX who, as of today, face an extreme 6-week abortion ban. This ban, #SB8, will be the blueprint for bans across the US. Unless we do something about it.” —singer Pink

And last… “The Left: Men can get pregnant. The Left on Abortion: Men don’t have a uterus, so they have no say in what a woman does with her body. See how this works?” —Darrell B. Harrison

Dr. Fauci Faces Call To Resign, Answer For Shocking Report About U.S. Government Funded Wuhan Research | The Daily Wire

WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 30: Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, speaks during a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hearing on June 30, 2020 in Washington, DC. Top federal health officials discussed efforts for safely getting back to work and school during the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden, is facing calls to answer for a shocking report, published by the Intercept, about the so-called “gain of function” research that the National Institute of Health funded at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, thought to be a possible origin point for COVID-19.

In May of 2021, Dr. Fauci, in his testimony to a Senate committee investigating whether the U.S. funded “gain-of-function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, claimed that the NIH “has not ever and does not now fund gain of function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

The Intercept, however, found, through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, evidence that the NIH issued a “bat coronavirus grant” to a group called the EcoHealth Alliance for “$3.1 million, including $599,000 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology used in part to identify and alter bat coronaviruses likely to infect humans.”

As the Daily Wire reported Tuesday, Dr. Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist at Rutgers University and an expert who spoke to The Intercept, elaborated on the findings on Twitter.

“The materials show that the 2014 and 2019 NIH grants to EcoHealth with subcontracts to WIV funded gain-of-function research as defined in federal policies in effect in 2014-2017 and potential pandemic pathogen enhancement as defined in federal policies in effect in 2017-present,” Ebert noted. “The materials confirm the grants supported the construction — in Wuhan — of novel chimeric SARS-related coronaviruses that combined a spike gene from one coronavirus with genetic information from another coronavirus, and confirmed the resulting viruses could infect human cells.”

“The materials reveal that the resulting novel, laboratory-generated SARS-related coronaviruses also could infect mice engineered to display human receptors on cells (‘humanized mice’),” he added. “The materials further reveal for the first time that one of the resulting novel, laboratory-generated SARS-related coronaviruses — one not been previously disclosed publicly — was more pathogenic to humanized mice than the starting virus from which it was constructed and thus not only was reasonably anticipated to exhibit enhanced pathogenicity, but, indeed, was *demonstrated* to exhibit enhanced pathogenicity.”

That puts Dr. Fauci in the spotlight. Dr. Ebright even suggested that Fauci was being “untruthful” in his remarks to the Senate.

Several Republicans have already suggested that Dr. Fauci must face a full investigation and be totally forthcoming about his agency’s — and the NIH’s — involvement in funding research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) suggested that Dr. Fauci is “hiding” something and should face an investigation.

Former White House physician-turned-Congressman Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) also demanded answers — and for Dr. Fauci to be terminated from his role as a top health advisor to the president.

Rep. Josh Hawley (R-MO) had the harshest criticism, demanding that Dr. Fauci resign immediately.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has already referred Dr. Fauci for an investigation for possible perjury related to his testimony in front of Congress.

Remember When Fauci Accused Children Of Spreading AIDS In The 80s & Exposed The AIDS Patients To Drug Deadlier Than The Disease?

A decade ago, Dr. Anthony Fauci tried to pull the same stunt on the American people that he is currently involved in with the propaganda of the CONvid-1984.  In doing so, he was one of the first to point out that children were virtually untouched by the CONvids, only to now be pushing the idea that the shots, fraudulently referred to as “vaccines,” need to be given to everyone.  However, do you remember when this criminal actually accused children of spreading AIDS in 1983?

An article was penned by Fauci in May 1983 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) during the AIDS crisis.  In that article, Chicken Little Fauci sounded the alarm about “the possibility that routine close contact, as within a family household, can spread the disease.”

Deadly bat caves & humanized mice tests: Released docs describe ‘HIGHEST RISK’ involved in US-funded coronavirus research in Wuhan

Documents obtained by The Intercept reveal that the US government funded studies into coronavirus in bats in Wuhan long before the pandemic, with the proposal showing it was aware of the risk that researchers would be infected.

More than 900 pages of material related to this research were published on the non-profit media company’s website on Tuesday. The documents were acquired as part of an ongoing Freedom of Information Act litigation by The Intercept against the National Institutes of Health.

The documents detail the work of EcoHealth Alliance, a US-based organization specializing in protection against infectious diseases, and its work with Chinese partners on coronaviruses, specifically those originating in bats.

The papers detail that EcoHealth Alliance was granted a total of $3.1 million by the federal government, with $599,000 of that going to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The funding received in Wuhan was used in part to identify and genetically alter bat coronaviruses that might infect humans.

EcoHealth Alliance president Peter Daszak led one of the studies, titled ‘Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence’, which screened thousands of bats for novel coronaviruses. The research also involved the screening of people who work with live animals.

However, the released documents include a recognition of the potential risks posed by the project. “Fieldwork involves the highest risk of exposure to SARS or other CoVs while working in caves with high bat density overhead and the potential for fecal dust to be inhaled,” the grant application reads.

Biden’s latest ‘lab leak’ report tells us nothing… but it won’t stop the US blaming China for Covid

“In this proposal, they actually point out that they know how risky this work is. They keep talking about people potentially getting bitten – and they kept records of everyone who got bitten,” Alina Chan, a molecular biologist at the Broad Institute, in the US, told The Intercept in response to the release.

Another revelation was that experimental work with humanized mice (that is, with functioning human genes, cells, tissues, and/or organs) was conducted at the Wuhan University Center for Animal Experiment, a biosafety level-three lab, and not at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, mainland China’s first biosafety level-four lab, as originally thought.

The program ran from 2014 to 2019, and was renewed in 2019, only for former US president Donald Trump to cancel it. Robert Kessler, communications manager at EcoHealth Alliance, maintained there wasn’t a lot to say on the matter. “We applied for grants to conduct research. The relevant agencies deemed that to be important research, and thus funded it,” he noted.

While the US has blasted China for not releasing all the relevant information on Covid-19, The Intercept said it had requested the recently released documents back in September 2020.

Although they don’t provide conclusive evidence to support the theory that Covid-19 was leaked from a Chinese lab, it does highlight the fact that risky research into bat coronaviruses was being undertaken in the years leading up the pandemic, and the US was not only well aware of that, but also funded it. Bats have been identified as a possible zoonotic source for the virus.

World Health Organization experts spent around a month in China from January this year. Their report suggested that cases identified in Wuhan in 2019 were believed to have been acquired from “a zoonotic source, as many [of those initially infected] reported visiting or working in the Huanan Wholesale Seafood Market.”

Fauci LIED: Lab Docs Show US Funded Gain-of-Function Research Of Coronaviruses Likely to Infect Humans’ in Wuhan | Geller Report News

The New York post is reporting that Dr Anthony Fauci has been accused by critics of lying after newly released documents appear to contradict his claims that the National Institute of Health did not fund gain-of-function research at China’s Wuhan lab.

War criminal.

Senator Rand Paul led the criticism against Fauci on Tuesday after the documents, obtained by The Intercept, detailed grants given to EcoHealth Alliance — the nonprofit that funneled federal funds to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for bat coronavirus research.

Included in the trove of documents is a previously unpublished grant proposal that EcoHealth Alliance, which is run by Peter Daszak, filed with Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.

Fauci has repeatedly insisted that NIH funding of the Wuhan lab does not constitute as “gain-of-function” research.

“Surprise surprise – Fauci lied again. And I was right about his agency funding novel Coronavirus research at Wuhan,” Sen. Paul tweeted after the documents were made public.

The Intercept published a report on Monday following the release of 900 pages of materials that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) was forced to turnover following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by the news organization.

The information pertains to the work of EcoHealth Alliance, an organization that used federal grant money to fund bat coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The president of EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak, has come under intense criticism and scrutiny over his ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and over his rush to dismiss claims that SARS-CoV-2 could have leaked out of the lab as a conspiracy theory.

The report noted that one of the grants, “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence,” had the goal of screening thousands of bats for coronaviruses. The Intercept reports:

The bat coronavirus grant provided the EcoHealth Alliance with a total of $3.1 million, including $599,000 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology used in part to identify and alter bat coronaviruses likely to infect humans. Even before the pandemic, many scientists were concerned about the potential dangers associated with such experiments. The grant proposal acknowledges some of those dangers: “Fieldwork involves the highest risk of exposure to SARS or other CoVs, while working in caves with high bat density overhead and the potential for fecal dust to be inhaled.”

Gary Ruskin, executive director of U.S. Right To Know, which has been investigating the origins of the pandemic, responded to the report by telling the publication: “This is a roadmap to the high-risk research that could have led to the current pandemic.”

The proposal acknowledged the risks of such research, saying: “Fieldwork involves the highest risk of exposure to SARS or other CoVs, while working in caves with high bat density overhead and the potential for fecal dust to be inhaled.”

The documents also include a second grant titled “Understanding Risk of Zoonotic Virus Emergence in Emerging Infectious Disease Hotspots of Southeast Asia”, which was awarded in August last year.

Under the terms and conditions of that grant approval, there is a section noting that prior to “further altering the mutant viruses”, the NIAID needs to be given a “detailed description of the proposed alterations and supporting evidence for the anticipated phenotypics characteristics of each virus.”

Gain-of-Function: FOIA Release Proves US Funded Research of Chimeric ‘Bat Coronaviruses Likely to Infect Humans’ in Wuhan

By News Rescue, September 7, 2021:

by Matt Agorist,

(ZH) — When Dr. Anthony Fauci confidently screamed at Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) in July – calling him a liar for accusing him of funding so-called “Gain-of-Function” (GoF) research in Wuhan, China to make coronaviruses more transmissible to humans, the argument ultimately fadeddue to Fauci’s unsupported claim that the research didn’t technically fit the definition of GoF.

Now, thanks to materials (here and here) released through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by The Interceptagainst the National Institutes of Health (which were unredacted enough to toss Fauci under the bus), we now know that Fauci-funded EcoHealth Alliance, a New York-based nonprofit headed by Peter Daszak, was absolutely engaged in gain-of-function research to make chimeric SARS-based coronaviruses, which they confirmed could infect human cells.

While evidence of this research has been pointed to in published studies, the FOIA release provides a key piece to the puzzle which sheds new light on what was going on.

This is a roadmap to the high-risk research that could have led to the current pandemic,” said Gary Ruskin, executive director of U.S. Right To Know, a group that has been investigating the origins of Covid-19 (via The Intercept).

And as Rutgers University Board of Governors Chemistry Professor Richard H. Ebright notes, “The documents make it clear that assertions by the NIH Director, Francis Collins, and the NIAID Director, Anthony Fauci, that the NIH did not support gain-of-function research or potential pandemic pathogen enhancement at WIV are untruthful.

In short, Fauci lied to Congress when he denied funding Gain-of-Function (GoF) research.

Ebright summarized The Intercept‘s reporting in a Monday night Twitter thread:

“The trove of documents includes two previously unpublished grant proposals that were funded by the NIAID, as well as project updates relating to the EcoHealth Alliance’s research, which has been scrutinized amid increased interest in the origins of the pandemic.”

The materials show that the 2014 and 2019 NIH grants to EcoHealth with subcontracts to WIV funded gain-of-function research as defined in federal policies in effect in 2014-2017 and potential pandemic pathogen enhancement as defined in federal policies in effect in 2017-present.

Biden admin stopped planes chartered by Glenn Beck charity from taking off, handed manifest over to Taliban — Conservative Review

The U.S. State Department is responsible for grounding and deboarding several planes holding American citizens and Afghan nationals at the Mazar-i-Sharif airport, BlazeTV host Glenn Beck reported on-air during his radio show Tuesday.

What are the details?

The planes — which held at least 100 American citizens and 1,000 Afghan nationals — were chartered by Mercury One and The Nazarene Fund, a charity founded by Beck aimed at facilitating evacuations from Afghanistan amid the U.S. military’s withdrawal and the Taliban’s takeover of the country.

Over the weekend, news broke that multiple planes had been prevented from taking off after the Taliban refused to grant permission for the departure. But according to Beck, it wasn’t the Taliban that initially stopped the planes from exiting the country.

Rather, it was the State Department that refused to grant landing clearance to the planes, preventing them from departing. The department allegedly called off the flights at the last minute, declining to approve the manifest. He added that U.S. officials went on to hand over the manifest to the Taliban.

“They were on the plane, they were on the tarmac, they were [in] the seats … [and] ready to go” before State Department officials intervened and deboarded the plane, Beck explained Tuesday morning on his radio show. “They were told to go back into the airport and hand everything in to the Taliban.

“They were dismissed from the airport while the State Department works this out with the Taliban,” he continued, noting that many of the passengers are now waiting things out in safe houses, “but not all.”

“This was like the State Department sending up flares, saying [to the Taliban], ‘Hey, look over here,'” he added later.

The radio personality insisted that his team is working tirelessly to complete its mission despite the recent setback.

“We had all of it,” he said on the radio. “We’ll have to go back and get the people now for those planes. But as soon as we get the green light, those people will be able to go back on to those planes. And if there’s one missing, I swear to you … We have also eight to 10 other planes that are ready to fly out if the State Department will just let us be.”

TheBlaze reached out to the State Department with regard to the allegations. In response, a department representative pointed to remarks made Tuesday by Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a press conference in Doha, Qatar.

“We’re working around the clock with NGOs, with members of Congress and advocacy groups, providing any and all information and doing all we can to clear any roadblocks that they’ve identified to make sure that charter flights carrying Americans or others to whom we have a special responsibility can depart Afghanistan safely,” Blinken insisted at the conference.

“We’ve also been engaged with the Taliban on this topic, including in recent hours,” he added. “They’ve said that they will let people with travel documents freely depart. We will hold them to that.”

What else?

Beck noted that several members of Congress — including Republican Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.) and Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal (Conn.) — were directly involved in the evacuation efforts and were furiously urging the State Department not to block the flights.

Cruz confirmed to TheBlaze on Tuesday that his office has been coordinating with The Nazarene Fund and other NGOs on evacuations and that the Biden administration has been obstructing efforts.

“I’m proud of that critically important work, but Biden-Harris officials can’t even get out of their own way. Now their incompetence has created the entirely predictable risk of a hostage crisis,” the senator said.

In response to inquiries about the situation, the State Department has effectively thrown up its hands and conceded that there’s not much it can do.

“We do not have personnel on the ground, we do not have air assets in the country, we do not control the airspace — whether over Afghanistan or elsewhere in the region,” a State Department spokesman told TheBlaze on Monday.

But Beck took issue with that claim, as well, telling TheBlaze that with its statement, the department is “knowingly misleading the American people.”

He said that while the State Department doesn’t control the airspace anymore, it does have control over whether commercial planes take off and land in approved locations.

TheBlaze reached out to Mercury One regarding Beck’s recent comments and the organization responded, “Although Glenn Beck is a political commentator, Mercury One and The Nazarene Fund are not political organizations and sometimes the things Glenn says on the radio do not represent the charities.”

Joe Biden Relies on Notecards During Remarks on Hurricane Ida, Still Gets Lost, “Uh, Uh, You Know, Uh as I Said” (VIDEO) — The Gateway Pundit

This was painful to watch.

Joe Biden on Tuesday traveled to Queens, New York and Hillsborough Township, New Jersey on Tuesday to survey flooding from Hurricane Ida.

Biden received a hurricane briefing from Somerset County, New Jersey leaders and delivered remarks on so-called climate change.

Biden said climate change was to blame for hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires and droughts.

Dementia Joe relied on notecards as he incoherently rambled about climate change and he still got lost.

At one point Joe Biden suggested the state of Nevada is in the ‘middle of the country.’

FOIA Release: Fauci Funded Construction Of ‘Chimeric Coronaviruses’ In Wuhan | ZeroHedge News

Continued (emphasis ours):

“The trove of documents includes two previously unpublished grant proposals that were funded by the NIAID, as well as project updates relating to the EcoHealth Alliance’s research, which has been scrutinized amid increased interest in the origins of the pandemic.”

The materials show that the 2014 and 2019 NIH grants to EcoHealth with subcontracts to WIV funded gain-of-function research as defined in federal policies in effect in 2014-2017 and potential pandemic pathogen enhancement as defined in federal policies in effect in 2017-present.

(This had been evident previously from published research papers that credited the 2014 grant and from the publicly available summary of the 2019 grant. But this now can be stated definitively from progress reports of the 2014 grant and the full proposal of the 2017 grant.)

The materials confirm the grants supported the construction–in Wuhan–of novel chimeric SARS-related coronaviruses that combined a spike gene from one coronavirus with genetic information from another coronavirus, and confirmed the resulting viruses could infect human cells.

(Recombinant DNA includes molecules constructed outside of living cells by joining natural or synthetic DNA segments to DNA molecules that can replicate in a living cell, or molecules that result from their replication. –Science Direct)

The materials reveal that the resulting novel, laboratory-generated SARS-related coronaviruses also could infect mice engineered to display human receptors on cells (“humanized mice”).

The materials further reveal for the first time that one of the resulting novel, laboratory-generated SARS-related coronaviruses–one not been previously disclosed publicly–was more pathogenic to humanized mice than the starting virus from which it was constructed…

…and thus not only was reasonably anticipated to exhibit enhanced pathogenicity, but, indeed, was *demonstrated* to exhibit enhanced pathogenicity.

The materials further reveal that the the grants also supported the construction–in Wuhan–of novel chimeric MERS-related coronaviruses that combined spike genes from one MERS-related coronavirus with genetic information from another MERS-related coronavirus.

The documents make it clear that assertions by the NIH Director, Francis Collins, and the NIAID Director, Anthony Fauci, that the NIH did not support gain-of-function research or potential pandemic pathogen enhancement at WIV are untruthful.

When asked in the replies where to find specific evidence on GoF research, user @SnupSnus replied:

Alina Chan, a molecular biologist at the Broad Institute, said the documents show that the EcoHealth Alliance has reason to take the lab leak theory seriously. “In this proposal, they actually point out that they know how risky this work is. They keep talking about people potentially getting bitten — and they kept records of everyone who got bitten,” Chan said. “Does EcoHealth have those records? And if not, how can they possibly rule out a research-related accident?” -The Intercept

In response to inquiries from The Intercept, EcoHealth communications manager Robert Kessler replied: “We applied for grants to conduct research. The relevant agencies deemed that to be important research, and thus funded it. So I don’t know that there’s a whole lot to say.”

Stay tuned, things should get really interesting for Fauci and Daszak in the near future.

To review the history of EcoHealth, Fauci and Gain-of-Function research which we noted in March:

In 2014, Peter Daszak, president of New York-based nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance, received a grant from Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institutes of Health (NIH) to work with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and others to research how bat coronaviruses can ‘evolve and jump into the human population.’

Peter Daszak, president of EcoHealth Alliance

The grant’s initial funding of $666,442 began in June 2014 with an end date of May 2019, and had paid annually to the tune of $3.7 million under the “Understanding The Risk Of Bat Coronavirus Emergence” project. Notably, the Obama administration cut funding for “gain-of-function” research in October, 2014, four months after Daszak’s contract began, while the Wuhan Institute of Virology “had openly participated in gain-of-function research in partnership with U.S. universities and institutions” for years under the leadership of Dr. Shi ‘Batwoman’ Zhengli, according to the Washington Post‘s Josh Rogin.

One of the grants, titled “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence,” outlines an ambitious effort led by EcoHealth Alliance president Peter Daszak to screen thousands of bat samples for novel coronaviruses. The research also involved screening people who work with live animals. The documents contain several critical details about the research in Wuhan, including the fact that key experimental work with humanized mice was conducted at a biosafety level 3 lab at Wuhan University Center for Animal Experiment — and not at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, as was previously assumed. The documents raise additional questions about the theory that the pandemic may have begun in a lab accident, an idea that Daszak has called “heinous.”

The grant was initially awarded for a five-year period — from 2014 to 2019. Funding was renewed in 2019 but suspended by the Trump administration in April 2020. -The Intercept

After Rogin exposed diplomatic cables last April expressing grave concerns over safety at WIV, he says: “many of the scientists who spoke out to defend the lab were Shi’s research partners and funders, like the head of the global public health nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak; their research was tied to hers, and if the Wuhan lab were implicated in the pandemic, they would have to answer a lot of tough questions.”

In short, Daszak – who has insisted the ‘lab escape’ theory is impossible, and that random natural origin via intermediary animal species is the only answer – has a massive conflict of interest.
