The COVID Untouchables: A Two-Tiered Society — Daily Declaration

In the West, we are observing the development of a two-tiered society, where a new group of COVID untouchables are denied basic human rights and liberties. And this is all being done in the name of safety. You WILL be made “safe” – or else!

The Free World?

The West, once known as the “free world,” is becoming less free by the day, and the line between a liberal democracy and a totalitarian state is being blurred each passing week.

And much of this is happening as our political elites pretend they are just trying to “keep us safe” from the Rona.

Various health mandates – many of which lack any sound scientific or medical backing – are bringing in a new tyranny, and mandatory vaccines and vaccine passports are leading the way in this.

Indeed, as I have often documented, Australia is already well underway to becoming a two-tiered society, with a new group of untouchables being denied basic human rights and liberties.

Dictator Dan Andrews

Consider what our leaders are now dreaming up to punish the recalcitrants who dare to differ on these health mandates. Victoria once again is leading the way here with Dictator Dan Andrews making clear his intentions.

He has just come out telling us that anyone who dares to have any hesitancy about the vaccines will NOT be a part of the Victorian economy:

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has sent a clear message as to what the future of the economy looks like in the state, saying proof of double vaccination will now be the price of entry. “There is going to be a vaccinated economy, and you get to participate in that if you are vaccinated,” Mr Andrews said. “We’re going to move to a situation where, to protect the health system, we are going to lock out people who are not vaccinated and can be,” Mr Andrews said.

What Do Others Think of Us?

This shocking announcement has already caught the ear of overseas media outlets. Said one:

The Australian state of Victoria will “lock out” unvaccinated people from participating in the economy, Premier Dan Andrews has announced. Victoria is currently under draconian lockdown restrictions, with residents of Melbourne – who make up the vast majority of the state’s population – living under a 9pm to 5am curfew, forbidden from leaving their homes except to work, buy groceries, or get a Covid-19 vaccination. When the lockdown is lifted, Premier Dan Andrews said on Sunday, future restrictions will apply only to those who are unvaccinated….

Despite Andrews’ plan to beat Covid-19 by segregating the vaccinated and unvaccinated, current research holds that vaccinated people can still catch the virus and spread it to others, and case counts are rising while hospitalizations and deaths are still prevalent in even the most widely vaccinated countries worldwide. Though vaccines can reduce the risk of serious symptoms and death, their efficacy at that falls with time too. Andrews’ proposed “vaccinated economy” triggered outrage online, with critics describing the plan as “psychopathic,” Andrews as a “dictator,” and urging Aussies “do not comply” with the rules.

“Convert, or Starve”: The Two-Tiered Society

Here in Australia Rod Lampard rightly put it this way:

Domestic vaccine passports (which really only are a euphemism for mandatory vaccinations) are a vile, inhumane, ironic negation of humanity. “No jab, no job” is another way of saying “convert, or starve”. It is a “choice” between the slave master swinging the whip, or doing the slave master’s bidding. Forced medical procedures are the weapons of tyrants.

The problem isn’t just an arbitrary division between the “unvaxxed” and “vaxxed”, it’s the divide widened between those deemed “essential” and those “unessential.” In blunt terms: life worthy of life vs. “life unworthy of life.” The cruelty this will spawn has no limits.

The door that allows Government to get away with mandating medical procedures under threat of losing your livelihood, gives them the power to mandate the theft of your land, your house, your savings, your kids, and your property. Such is the dehumanising embrace of an arbitrary Us vs. Them – oppressor vs. oppressed – false dichotomy.

Church Certificate System

But it is not just Victoria that is leading the way in the tyranny sweepstakes. Consider what they want to do to Christians in NSW:

Churches in New South Wales will be required to use a vaccination certificate system once 70 percent of the population have received at least two injections of the COVID vaccine. From mid-October, churches will be permitted to return to in-person worship on the provision that they only host vaccinated-only services. Once the target is reached, places of worship must deny entry to any member of the congregation who is not fully vaccinated. Chris O’Keefe of 9News said the state government has not yet signed off on the roadmap, however, “this is the plan that is being worked on, and it’s likely to be signed off on this week.”

Wow! Why do I keep thinking that Stalin and Mao and Hitler would be so envious of what is happening in Australia?

This is utter insanity, and it cannot be called anything other than what it is: a sure path to full-tilt dictatorship. We really can use a few Bonhoeffers and Niemöllers right about now.

Faux conservatives, closet totalitarians

As if all this is already not bad enough, but it gets much worse with some of our so-called conservatives. Many are anything but when it comes to mandatory health provisions like vaccine passports.

They are so far away from any sort of genuine conservatism that they actually do not think such passports are a big deal. Indeed, many seem to have no problems with them at all! Incredible.

For example, many if not most of the commentators on Sky News have really lost the plot on all this, thinking they are somehow conservatives as they push decidedly un-conservative positions.

The other night Andrew Bolt was railing against anyone who dared to have the slightest hesitancy about getting the Rona vaxx, calling them “stupid” and “selfish” and the like. He did this just seconds after referring to WA Premier Mark McGowan as acting like Stalin.

He Calls Himself a Conservative?

Um, just who is being a Stalinist here? He wants anyone who for any reason has valid concerns about these vaccines to be treated as second-class citizens – or worse – permanently. He has no problems with that whatsoever!

And he calls himself a conservative? He needs to be reminded that a real conservative values freedom and the right to choose, champions limited government, and is very concerned about vital social goods such as civil liberties and human rights.

He has fallen for the oldest trick in the book – he has allowed the other side to divide and conquer conservatives. Bolt is clearly very upset with the lockdown insanity. Hey, guess what Andrew? So am I, along with millions of other freedom-loving Australians and conservatives.

Yet Bolt considers many of us to be the enemy!

Bolt should reserve his rage for the Statist tyrants who stole our freedoms away from us in the first place, instead of lashing out at those who have legitimate reasons for being hesitant about the jab.

Genuine Hesitancy

Indeed, there are many millions of people the world over – including plenty of PhDs, scientists, medical personnel, doctors, and health professionals – who have all shown hesitancy here.

Yet Bolt says they are all stupid and selfish. One has to ask who is really being stupid here. He wants to get on with his life as a free man. So do I, Bolt.

Yet he is happy for people like me and millions of others to be part of a permanent health underclass, denied our basic rights and freedoms, because he thinks we are stupid and so we should suffer. Thanks for nothing Andrew – on this issue at least you are just as much of a leftist statist as anyone else.

No Compulsion, Seriously?

And when these folks claim there will be no compulsion in all this, they are utterly delusional. When most governments and businesses conspire to prevent people from travelling, going to school, getting basic goods and services, and so on unless they are fully vaccinated – complete with the never-ending “booster” shots – then our “choice” has been completely stripped away from us.

We ARE being coerced into getting the jab – either that or we will be forced to live as cave dwellers with basically zero human rights and civil liberties.

That is NOT freedom of choice. That is manipulation and coercion pure and simple – something all the modern human rights declarations and medical ethics statements strongly condemn.

Such tyrannical coercion is never something anyone claiming to be a conservative or a Christian dare support.

Listen to Those Speaking Out!

This video by a Qantas pilot was posted just hours ago (editor’s note: at time of writing) and already it has been viewed over 36,000 times (editor’s update: the video now has almost 500,000 views)!

This guy should be Prime Minister of Australia!

Please watch this and share it far and wide. We need more champs like this brave man.

The COVID Untouchables: A Two-Tiered Society — Daily Declaration

If Biden’s Mandates Force Millions Of Americans Out Of Their Jobs, Our Supply Chain Nightmares Will Get Much Worse — The Economic Collapse

You may have noticed that the shortages are getting worse, and thanks to Emperor Biden things are about to escalate to an entirely new level.  Right now, global supply chains are in a state of complete and utter chaos and the essential machinery of our economy is breaking down all around us.  In such an environment, it is inconceivable that the president of the United States would issue a decree which could force millions more people from their jobs, but that is precisely what he just did.  Does he not understand the effect that this is going to have on the economy?  As you will see below, polling has shown that the vast majority of the unvaccinated would rather leave their jobs rather than submit to the injections.  That means that millions of people could literally leave their jobs in the coming months, and that would cause enormous headaches in just about every corner of our society.  Either Biden and his team are so horribly incompetent that they didn’t anticipate that this could happen, or they just don’t care.

In the post-World War II era, we have never seen global supply chains gummed up this badly.  We were promised that things would be getting back to “normal” by now, but instead it seems like the shortages are intensifying with each passing week.

Jeremiah Babe has posted a new video in which he discusses the empty shelves that he is witnessing at Walmart and Home Depot.  Countless others have also taken to social media to report on the shortages in their own local areas.  In all the years that I have been writing, I have never seen it like this, and it is at this exact moment that Biden has decided to drop a nuclear bomb on the economy.

Did he really think that he could bully millions upon millions of unvaccinated workers into getting injections?

According to a Washington Post-ABC News poll that was just released, a whopping 72 percent of all unvaccinated Americans would choose to leave their jobs if the choice was either get injected or be fired…

The poll found 16 percent of unvaccinated workers would get the shot, 35 percent would ask for a medical or religious exemption and 42 percent would quit their job.

When asked what they would do if they weren’t given an exemption to opt out of the requirement, 18 percent of those surveyed said they would comply and 72 percent said they would quit.

In the end, Biden will probably get a limited number of unvaccinated workers to submit to his injection program, but in the process economic chaos is going to be unleashed all around us.

Just look at what is already happening at hospitals all over the nation.  Scores of healthcare workers are leaving their jobs due to mandates that have already been imposed, and this is causing severe interruptions to basic services.

For example, a hospital in upstate New York just announced that they will have to stop delivering babiesbecause so many workers have left their posts…

An upstate New York hospital said it will pause the delivery of babies in two weeks because of a spate of resignations by maternity unit workers who are objecting to COVID-19 vaccination mandates.

Lewis County General Hospital, in Lowville, will temporarily stop delivering babies after Sept. 24, WWNY reported. During a news conference Friday afternoon, Lewis County Health System CEO Gerald Cayer said seven of the 30 hospital workers who resigned were from the hospital’s maternity ward. He added that another seven maternity unit staffers were undecided about getting the vaccine, the television station reported.

Have you ever heard of such a thing ever happening before?

This is crazy!

And now right in the middle of a major health crisis, Emperor Biden has decided to make things even worse.  All unvaccinated healthcare workers will be forced to leave their jobs, and they will be banned from working for any other healthcare provider in the entire country that accepts Medicaid or Medicare (or both).

Of course just about all healthcare providers accept Medicaid or Medicare (or both), and so we are essentially talking about the entire healthcare industry.

So at a time when we already have a severe shortage of healthcare workers in this country, Biden’s decrees will soon force thousands upon thousands more out of their jobs.

If you haven’t figured this out by now, this should make you very angry.

What are you going to do if you have to go to the emergency room and there isn’t anyone available to treat you?

Will you just find a quiet corner where you can curl up into a fetal position and die?

Other industries are going to be absolutely devastated by mass defections as well.  In one city in Missouri, every single police officer has just tendered a resignation

A Missouri police chief and all of his officers tendered their resignations, citing reasons from the pay rate to not having the proper tools to do the job, leaving local leaders scrambling to fill the positions as many departments already struggle to stay staffed during the anti-police climate that swept the nation.

“It will be a struggle to fill the police department back up with qualified officers, but hopefully they can start working on that soon and get that accomplished,” Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader said of the resignations at the Kimberling City Police Department, noting that most police stations are understaffed.

Those resignations were not related to what Biden just did, but it just shows what can happen when large numbers of people suddenly leave all at once.

If millions of Americans are forced out of work by Biden’s decrees in the coming months, we are going to see society crumble around us at breathtaking speed.

So you better pray that the courts decide to overturn Biden’s decrees, because otherwise we are going to have a gigantic economic crisis on our hands.

Before I end this article, I would like to offer a word of advice.

If you have a job that is covered by Biden’s decrees, don’t leave voluntarily.

Make them fire you.  This will allow you to collect a paycheck for as long as possible, and it will also allow you to apply for unemployment benefits.

In addition, making them fire you will also potentially strengthen your case if you decide to take some sort of legal action.

For those of you that have been put in this position, I am truly sorry that this has happened to you.  America is descending into full-blown tyranny, and our long national nightmare is just starting.  For many years, a lot of us have been warning that our liberties and freedoms were being eroded, and at first a lot of people out there did not take our warnings seriously.

But now we have a man in the White House that is acting like a third world dictator, and what is even more frightening is the fact that millions of Americans are cheering him on.

Hold on to your memories of what life was like before the dark times came, because those memories will bring you comfort during the very difficult years that are ahead.

1930s Germany Revisited — CultureWatch

We MUST learn from history, or we will lose it all:

I am now starting to know how people like Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Martin Niemöller felt. They looked around at what was happening to a once free and democratic Germany, and they saw the slow but certain rise of totalitarianism. Worse yet, they saw most of their fellow Germans fully supporting what was happening – and that included most German Christians.

I believe that in many ways things today are ominously similar. No, I am NOT saying we are on the exact same road. However, there most certainly are some very real and worrying parallels. But let me pause and deal with acommon criticism that will arise at this point.

Godwin’s Law is an adage that says this: “As a discussion on the Internet grows longer, the likelihood of a person/s being compared to Hitler or another Nazi, increases.” It involves the idea that someone has lost a debate when they resort to Nazi analogies or parallels.

Sure, sometimes folks can falsely and fallaciously drag up some historical parallel or comparison with the Nazis. But sometimes folks are entirely justified in doing so. Indeed, at times not to would mean to violate Santayana’s ‘law’ about those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

The more I study history, the more I see history repeating itself. What is happening in the once free West over Covid is just too similar to what occurred in the once free Germany in the 1930s. Tyranny seldom happens overnight, but usually arises incrementally – step by step.

In the name of “keeping us safe” governments have been imposing the most draconian measures, including the suspension of basic human rights such as freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of movement and freedom of religion. Yet for too long the masses have happily gone along with all this.

Hitler and the Nazis even used the excuse of ‘public safety’ as they implemented their totalitarian policies. Indeed, most tyrannies have done this. Recall that in revolutionary France Robespierre and Co via the National Convention set up “The Committee for Public Safety” in 1793 as part of their terror campaign. Remember the guillotine!

As one site says: “The Convention acquiesced in the committee’s draconian measures—such as surveillance committees, preventive detention, and controls on civil liberties—seen as necessary to secure the republic to a point at which the suspension of the democratic constitution of June 1793 could be lifted.”

Hmm, sounds just like Dan Andrews’ Victoria, and so many other jurisdictions. But let me return to pre-war Germany. One of the major concerns we face today are things like compulsory medical mandates – the sort of things covered in the 1946 Nuremberg Trials.

Part of this is the push for vaccine passports, and the creation of a new medical apartheid. A new Covid underclass is arising. Those who for any reason may have legitimate reasons for Covid vaccine hesitancy (no, not anti-vaxxers – just those questioning these new vaccines) are now treated as a group of untouchables.

They are unclean, and must be treated like pariahs. They must be punished for their evil recalcitrance, and they must be separated and isolated from the rest of society – in order to ‘keep us safe.’ That too was a major feature of life in Germany in the 1930s and 40s.

Simply consider the Untermensch (underman, sub-man, subhuman). As an online resource puts it, this is

a Nazi term for non-Aryan “inferior people” often referred to as “the masses from the East”, that is Jews, Roma, and Slavs (Russians, Ukrainians, Poles and Serbs etc). The term was also applied to Mulatto and Black people. Jews were to be exterminated in the Holocaust, along with the Polish and Romani people, and the physically and mentally disabled. . . . These concepts were an important part of the Nazi racial policy.

Hmm, this too sounds familiar. Increasingly the unvaccinated are being seen in the same way. They are said to be the reason why Covid continues, and they are now a despised minority. Various leaders and government officials and media outlets have already told us they should not even be allowed to get medical treatment – in addition to all the other freedoms stolen away from them!

I have personally been told by some of these haters that they hope I die of Covid. Feel the love baby. Such concern for humanity. A new two-tiered society is now upon us, and it looks far too much like what we witnessed last century. And we already have the same snitching on others, the same dobbing in of neighbours that we had back then.

No wonder one person recently said this: “I’m starting to learn who would have hidden Anne Frank and who would have turned her over to the Nazis.” But getting back to a new class of health untouchables, another article reminds us of how most Germans back then viewed the Jews:

A recurrent theme in Nazi antisemitic propaganda was that Jews spread diseases. To prevent non-Jews from attempting to enter the ghettos and from seeing the condition of daily life there for themselves, German authorities posted quarantine signs at the entrances, warning of the danger of contagious disease. Since inadequate sanitation and water supplies coupled with starvation rations quickly undermined the health of the Jews in the ghettos, these warnings became a self-fulfilling prophecy, as typhus and other infectious diseases ravaged ghetto populations. Subsequent Nazi propaganda utilized these man-made epidemics to justify isolating the “filthy” Jews from the larger population. encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/deceiving-the-public

And one scholarly article entitled “In the Name of Public Health — Nazi Racial Hygiene” begins this way:

In democratic societies, the needs of public health sometimes require citizens to make sacrifices for the greater good, but in Nazi Germany, national or public health — Volksgesundheit — took complete precedence over individual health care. Physicians and medically trained academics, many of whom were proponents of “racial hygiene,” or eugenics, legitimized and helped to implement Nazi policies aiming to “cleanse” German society of people viewed as biologic threats to the nation’s health. Racial-hygiene measures began with the mass sterilization of the “genetically diseased” and ended with the near-annihilation of European Jewry.

Let me mention two recent pieces looking at the current Covid situation in relation to what the world witnessed just 90 years ago. One piece says in part:

This is 1938. I’m a Jew. I now understand just a little of what it felt like to be a Jew in 1938. No, it’s not the Holocaust. Nothing can be compared to the Holocaust. Ever. But 1938 was not the Holocaust. It was the pre-Holocaust. It was the time before the nightmare, when the foundation was being laid to destroy the freedom, free speech, businesses and lives of millions of Jews. Everything happening today to the American people … to the U.S. Constitution … to freedom … and particularly to unvaccinated Americans reminds me of 1938. This is only the beginning. It gets much worse from here.

First, “the papers.” Vaccine mandates and vaccine passports are just like 1938, when the Gestapo demanded papers from every German. Republicans asked for “papers” from migrants who had broken into our country. Criminals. Democrats said, “No, that’s racism.” Republicans asked for “papers” once every two years for federal elections, to prove you have a right to vote. Democrats said, “No, that’s racism.”

Now Democrats want American citizens, not illegal aliens, not criminals, but patriots born in this country, to produce papers 24/7. We’ll need papers to enter restaurants, bars, nightclubs, concerts, casinos, conventions and hotels and to board a train, plane or bus. We’ll need papers to enter a supermarket, or we’ll starve to death. All for the crime of being unvaccinated.

He continues:

By the way, this isn’t about vaccines. If you want the vaccine, take it. I’d never stop you. I’d never limit your freedom, your choice. This is about vaccine mandates – forcibly injecting Americans who don’t want it. That’s 1938…. But there’s much more in common with 1938. Mask mandates. If you’re scared, wear them. I’m not scared. I don’t want to wear them. Mandates are about forcing individuals to lose their freedom, choice, individuality and human rights. That’s 1938.

Lockdowns are a match with the Warsaw Ghetto. Jews were locked down. Jews couldn’t work. Jews couldn’t travel. Jewish businesses were labeled “nonessential.” If government can force us to close our businesses, to kill our jobs, to decide who is nonessential, then this is 1938. Stars on clothing. It’s coming. The vaccinated get into restaurants, bars, concerts, supermarkets, planes and trains. They keep their jobs. The rest of us are marked as “subhuman” for life. That’s the star. That’s 1938.

Media and social media as the public-relations wing of the government. That’s called propaganda. Remind you of 1938? Back then, the Jews’ books were burned. Today, it’s those of conservatives, patriots and specifically the unvaccinated. We are silenced. Our facts are labeled “misleading.” Only the facts that agree with big government’s agenda count. That’s 1938. http://www.wnd.com/2021/08/welcome-1938-first-came-unvaccinated/

OK, I can see the critics already chirping: ‘Ah, that is just some nutjob conspiracy theorist, some rightwing loon.’ Then let me finish by citing someone who knows what they are talking about. It so happens that we still have some Holocaust survivors with us today, and many of them do NOT like what they are witnessing. Here is the story of one of them:

Holocaust survivor and medical activist Vera Sharav said recently on a podcast that we should be feeling “more than nervous” about the current state of public health measures, including lockdowns, forced vaccinations, and testing. Referring to the Nazi movement, Sharav said, “Fear is an extremely powerful psychological tool, that has been used by politicians always, the Nazis were particularly adept at it.”

Sharav was brought on to the podcast to discuss the host’s concerns about the direction in which she believes public health measures are going. They discussed a range of topics having to do with the response to COVID-19 taken by various governments.

In the opinion of the host, Trish Wood, there are parallels between the narrative surrounding the COVID-19 situation and the narrative common in Germany under Nazism that was used to subjugate citizens. Vera Sharav agreed that it is logical to see similarities between that time and our time. Of particular concern to Sharav and Wood is the fact that doctors then, as now, were largely caught up by ideas that harmed people on a significant scale….

In her opinion, it is “nonsense” to suggest that sacrificing the rights of individuals is conducive to the greater good; she said this in reference to the accepted orthodoxy of locking down society to protect a subset of the population.

“As public officials they talk about the greater good. Who has the authority to decide what is the greater good? … If the individuals are oppressed or relegated to third-class citizens … what kind of society is it? We are now at the gate of that.”

When asked about whether or not she believed we are in fact on the cusp of a Nazi-like society and why, Sharav replied emphatically: “I absolutely do… One of the main things that has happened in these 18 months of the pandemic is that fear has been the major weapon, which has really crippled people from thinking straight. It has isolated people and taught children to distrust other people: ‘They might be infected, they might infect me’.”

In addition, she stated that vaccination passports “are the gateway to a totalitarian surveillance state.” She added, “it was under the Nazis, it was under Stalin, it was under Mao – it still is in China – this is where we’re going if we allow it to happen.”

Sharav said that the Holocaust involved a unique link between the medical establishment and the goals of the Nazis. “Hitler then, as rulers now, deferred to the health officials. We are constantly being told, ‘we are following the science’.” As a result she says we are now witnessing a “complete overthrow of human civilization.” http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/holocaust-survivor-more-than-nervous-covid-measures/

As I say, people like this ought to know. If you refuse to believe them and learn from history, then we are already doomed.

September 12 Evening Quotes of The Day

All Have His Image Stamped upon Them
Romans 1:20

As all men stand in a near relation to God, so they have still so much of his image stamped upon them as may oblige and excite us to love them; in some this image is more eminent and conspicuous, and we can discern the lovely tracts of wisdom and goodness; and though in others it is miserably sullied and defaced, yet it is not altogether erased, some lineaments at least do still remain.

Diversion Is the Greatest of Our Miseries
Job 21:23–26; Zephaniah 1:12

The only thing that consoles us for our miseries is diversion, and yet this is the greatest of our miseries. For it is this which principally hinders us from reflecting upon ourselves, and which makes us insensibly ruin ourselves. Without this we should be in a state of weariness, and this weariness would spur us to seek a more solid means of escaping from it. But diversion amuses us, and leads us unconsciously to death.

September 12 Evening Verse of The Day

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_0884.jpg

3:16 Paul called on the Corinthians to have self-awareness about the ultimate identity of their corporate body. They were a temple built by God, and the Spirit of God resided among them.[1]

3:16 Two different Greek words are translated “temple.” Hieron refers to the entire temple complex. The naos is the Most Holy Place in which God uniquely dwelt in the O.T. tabernacle and temple. This verse speaks of the local church as the naos, the unique dwelling place of the Spirit of God. In 1 Cor. 6:19 Paul speaks of each individual believer as a temple of the Holy Spirit of God. Verse 17 urges caution in the use one makes of this temple. Dividing the local church (cf. v. 4) is the same as defilement of the sanctuary and calls forth the most serious response of judgment by God. As Paul is addressing a visible local congregation, the destruction threatened by God may be applied both to the discipline of genuine believers and to the eternal destruction of those in the church whose profession is insincere.[2]

3:16 God’s temple. God signified His presence in the temple by filling it with the cloud of His glory (1 Kin. 8:10, 11). Now He lives in His people by filling them with the Holy Spirit. Paul’s focus here is on God’s people as a corporate whole; in 6:19 the emphasis shifts to the individual Christian’s body.[3]

3:16 God’s temple Extending his metaphor from v. 9, Paul now calls the Corinthian congregation “God’s temple”—the location of His presence in the Spirit in that city.

in you Paul uses the plural form of a Greek term to emphasize that the entire Church community is God’s temple (His dwelling place on earth), not just select individuals.[4]

3:16 Paul reminds the believers that they are the temple (Gk., the inner shrine or sanctuary) of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in them. It is true that every individual believer is also a temple of God indwelt by the Holy Spirit, but that is not the thought here. The apostle is looking at the church as a collective company, and wishes them to realize the holy dignity of such a calling.[5]

3:16 “Do you not know that you are a temple of God” There is no ARTICLE with “temple” (naos, the central shrine itself). The PRONOUN “you” is PLURAL, while “temple” is SINGULAR; therefore, in this context “temple” must refer to the whole church at Corinth (cf. 2 Cor. 6:16; Eph. 2:21–22), which may have involved several house churches.

The focus of Jewish faith developed into the Temple ritual and liturgy (cf. Jer. 7) instead of personal faith in YHWH. It is not where or when or how one worships, but who one is in relationship with, God. Jesus saw His body as the temple of God (cf. John 2:21). Jesus is greater than the OT Temple (cf. Matt. 12:6). God’s activity has moved from a sacred building into a sacred (redeemed, holy) believers’ body. The focus of God’s activity in the world is people!

© that the Spirit of God dwells in you” “Dwells” is a PRESENT ACTIVE INDICATIVE. “You” is PLURAL. The concept of the temple as the unique dwelling place of YHWH in the OT is paralleled here with the concept of the church as the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.

Indwelling deity a is recurrent concept in the NT. All three persons of the Trinity are said to indwell believers: (1) the Spirit (cf. John 14:16–17; Rom. 8:9, 11; 1 Cor. 3:16; 6:19; 2 Tim. 1:14); (2) the Son (cf. Matt. 28:20; John 14:20, 23; 15:4–5; Rom. 8:10; 2 Cor. 13:5; Gal. 2:20; Eph. 3:17; Col. 1:27); and (3) both the Son and the Father (cf. John 14:23 and 2 Cor. 6:16).[6]

16. Do you not know that you are the temple of God and the Spirit of God lives within you?

a. “Do you not know?” The question Paul poses is a rebuke to the Corinthians. He scolds them for not knowing their own status and place in relation to God. They should have realized when they became Christians that the Holy Spirit dwelled within them and stayed with them. Elsewhere in his writings, Paul states pointedly, “We are the temple of the living God” (2 Cor. 6:16), and “The whole building … develops into a holy temple in the Lord” (Eph. 2:21). Now he chides the Corinthians for their negligence and slothfulness in not using the knowledge they possess (1:5; 8:1).

The verb to know in Greek signifies inherent knowledge the believers ought to possess. They know that they are the temple of God. Yet Paul does not reveal how they came to develop this knowledge. He takes for granted that they are able to marshal this information.

b. “That you are the temple of God.” The wording in this clause is unique for two reasons: first, the expression temple is in the singular (see 6:19) and, second, in the Greek this noun is not preceded by a definite article. The Greek word for temple is naos, which refers to the actual temple and not to the temple complex (known in Greek as hieron). In his epistles, Paul nearly always writes naos, the word for the actual temple, to indicate that God caused the divine name to dwell there (1 Kings 8:16–20).

For Paul and the Corinthians, the temple of God is the church, that is, the body of believers. Even though Paul himself fulfilled a vow (Acts 18:18) and presented offerings at the temple in Jerusalem (Acts 21:23–26), for him the spiritual temple was the universal church. He also knew that when the church fails to listen to God’s Word, the evil one gradually takes control and seeks to fulfill his desire to reside in that temple (2 Thess. 2:4).

However, that temple belongs not to Satan but to God. Paul purposely omits the definite article before the noun naos to indicate the absolute use of that word. In his mind, there is no other temple than the church of Jesus Christ where the Godhead is pleased to dwell. If there is no other temple, there is no need to use the definite article.

c. “The Spirit of God lives within you.” The church is holy because God’s Spirit dwells in the hearts and lives of the believers. In 6:19 Paul indicates that the Holy Spirit lives in the physical bodies of the believers. But now he tells the Corinthians that the presence of the Spirit is within them and they are the temple of God.

The Corinthians should know that they have received the gift of God’s Spirit. Paul had already called attention to the fact that they had not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God (2:12). He teaches that Christians are controlled not by sinful human nature but by the Spirit of God, who is dwelling within them (Rom. 8:9).

The behavior—strife, jealousy, immorality, and permissiveness—of the Christians in Corinth was reprehensible. By their conduct the Corinthians were desecrating God’s temple and, as Paul writes in another epistle, were grieving the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30; compare 1 Thess. 5:19).[7]

16. The sacredness of ministry is evident in that the church is God’s temple (naos). The context indicates that Paul is not referring to believers individually but to the church corporately. The reference to the church as the temple of God fits with the architectural metaphor which introduces this paragraph. Just as Yahweh resided in the temple under the old covenant and in Israel (Exod. 25:8; 29:45; Lev. 26:11–12; Ps. 114:2), so now God’s Spirit dwells in the new temple, the church of Jesus Christ. Paul also emphasizes that the church is the temple in Ephesians 2:19–22 (see also 2 Cor. 6:16). There Jesus is described as ‘the cornerstone’, and the church as growing as a ‘holy temple’ which is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. In 1 Peter 2:5 the church is a ‘spiritual house’ where believers offer ‘spiritual sacrifices’ to God. As in Ephesians, Jesus is again described as ‘the cornerstone’ of the temple (1 Pet. 2:7).[8]

Ver. 16.—Know ye not. The phrase is used by St. Paul in this Epistle to emphasize important truths, as in ch. 5:6; 6:2, 9, 15; 9:13, 24. Out of this Epistle it only occurs in Rom. 6:16; 11:2. That ye are the temple of God. “Ye,” both collectively (Eph. 2:21) and individually; “God’s shrine;” not built for men’s glory. The word “temple” in the Old Testament always means the material temple; in the Gospels our Lord “spake of the temple of his body;” in the rest of the New Testament the body of every baptized Christian is the temple of God (ch. 6:16), because “God dwelleth in him” (1 John 4:16; comp. John 14:23). In another aspect Christians can be regarded as “living stones in one spiritual house” (1 Pet. 2:5). The temple; rather, the shrine (naos) wherein God dwells (naiei), and which is the holiest part of the temple (hieron).[9]

3:16 you yourselves are God’s temple. Modern readers of English translations can easily miss the force of Paul’s language here. The common Greek term for temple was hieros. It referred to the whole temple complex, naming the place where people went to sacrifice and worship God (or a god). Paul’s word here, however, is naos. Naos (lit., “dwelling”) refers to the most sacred area in a temple—the particular room where God (or a god) was thought to reside. The church is not a social gathering of the like-minded but the sanctuary where God reveals his presence.[10]

3:16 / Paul extends or expands the metaphor of the Corinthians’ being God’s building. He begins this verse with a rhetorical jab, Don’t you know …? Thus, he implies that they do not know the important matter that he is about to take up with them. Paul refers to the Corinthian congregation as God’s temple and explains that God’s Spirit lives in them. By selecting the particular word for “temple” that he uses here (Gk. naos) and by introducing the issue of the Spirit’s indwelling the Christian community, Paul raises the crucial topic of the nature of the church. Paul’s word “temple” is the word for the inner sanctuary of God’s temple, not merely for the general site of the temple. Inherent in this word are the themes of God’s presence and holiness, as becomes clear through the reference to the Spirit, even to those who might not perceive Paul’s nuance in the Greek.

At issue is the reality of God’s Spirit among them that means that as a church they are the special locus of God’s presence and power at work in Corinth. The character of their community and its presence in the world are to embody God’s will and work. Instead of focusing on themselves and forming destructive factions, they are to live out God’s holiness, which in Christ has been revealed to be a saving presence and power. As they live as God’s people, God’s presence is made a physical reality in Corinth, and God’s will and work come to expression in that city. This verse explicitly reminds the Corinthians of their identity as the corporate people of God, among whom the Spirit lived. At the same time, the statement implies the missional identity of the church as the real presence, power, will, and work of the Spirit.[11]

16 The turn in the argument, and the strong feeling with which he will argue his next point, is achieved with a rhetorical device that occurs here for the first time in Paul: “Do you not know that?…” The fact that he will use this device ten times in this letter, chiefly in contexts where he is exercised, and that it occurs only one other time in his letters (Rom. 6:16), probably says much about his feelings toward the Corinthians and their behavior. In the Thessalonian letters his way of reminding them of what they should or did already know was to say, “For even as you yourselves know.…” But in this letter he turns to rhetoric, less to remind the Corinthians of something they had already been told4 than to point to a reality that they should know by the very nature of things. “Do you not know who you are?” he asks them. And it is clear from their current behavior that they do not know, or at least have not seriously considered the implications of who they are as God’s people in Corinth.

The imagery of the church as God’s temple, which occurs twice more in Paul (2 Cor. 6:16; Eph. 2:21), is a pregnant one both for the Jewish Paul and the Gentile Corinthians. The word used (naos) refers to the actual sanctuary, the place of the deity’s dwelling, in contrast to the word hieron, which referred to the temple precincts as well as to the sanctuary. For Paul the imagery reflects the OT people of God. Although they are never called God’s temple as such, they are his people among whom he chose to “dwell” by tabernacling in their midst.7 It is possible, though by no means certain, that the imagery also had eschatological overtones for Paul. Such an understanding would flow from two sources: Jewish eschatological hopes as reflected in a variety of sources,9 and a tradition, which seems to go back to Jesus himself, that he would rebuild the temple “in three days.” The present experience of the church as the place where the (eschatological) Spirit dwells would thus be the restored temple of Ezekiel’s vision (chaps. 40–48), where God promised “to live among them forever” (43:9) and out of which flowed the river of fresh water that restored the land (47:1–12).

The imagery of the church as temple would have been easily understood by the Corinthians as well, although perhaps not with its rich OT overtones. As practicing pagans (see 6:9; 8:7) most of them would have frequented the many pagan temples and shrines (naoi) in their city. Indeed, some of them were arguing for the right to do so still (see chaps. 8–10). But now Paul is calling their attention to the fact that since there is only one God, he can have only one temple in Corinth, and they are it. They became that new temple by the fact that “God’s Spirit lives in you.” Most likely Paul meant by this not that the Spirit dwelt in each of them, true as that would be for him (cf. 6:19), but that the Spirit of God “lives in your midst.” That is, Paul is here reflecting on the church as the corporate place of God’s dwelling, who, when gathered in Jesus’ name, experienced the presence and power of the Lord Jesus in their midst (5:4–5). Again, as in 2:10–13 (cf. 2:4–5), the Spirit is the key, the crucial reality, for life in the new age. The presence of the Spirit, and that alone, marks them off as God’s new people, his temple, in Corinth.[12]

16 To get at this notion, Paul first introduces these verses with the phrase, “Don’t you know …?” These words are used ten times in 1 Corinthians and usually in contexts that express a certain amount of frustration on the apostle’s part regarding the lifestyle of the Corinthian Christians (e.g., 6:2, 3, 16, 19). Paul goes on to cite one of his important metaphors of the church. Having just described the implications for leaders of the church as “God’s building” (3:9), he defines that building more carefully as “God’s temple” (cf. also 2 Co 6:16; Eph 2:21). The word the apostle uses for temple here is naos (GK 3724), which denotes the actual temple sanctuary, a symbol of God’s dwelling among his people, in contrast to hieron (GK 2639), a word that designates the entire temple complex.

Even though the OT clearly states that the Lord God could not be limited by a temple built by human hands (see 1 Ki 8:27; Isa 66:1–2), the Lord did promise to dwell in the midst of his people in the tabernacle built in the desert and in the temple built by Solomon (Ex 40:34–38; Dt 12:4–11; 1 Ki 8:12–13; 2 Ch 6:20, 41). In the era of the new covenant, however, this temple has been replaced by something new that God himself created, namely, the new people of God composed of those who believe in Jesus. One of the implications of Pentecost (cf. Ac 2:1–4) is that the Lord has now come to live in that body of believers by his Spirit: “You yourselves are God’s temple and … God’s Spirit lives in you” (1 Co 3:16).[13]

Sin and the Christian | Winging It

We’ve seen a lot in recent years about the evils associated with Christians. Last year there was the devastating (and calculated) story that told how Ravi Zacharias had a lust problem. Voices have been raised over the fact that Jonathan Edwards owned slaves. That kind of a gamut of problems. And we muddle about and try to figure out what to do when our spiritual giants fall, in life or in death. Here’s my suggestion. Let’s look to Jesus.

When they brought the woman “caught in adultery” to Him (John 8:1-11), it is noteworthy that He didn’t have any comment on the sin in question. He didn’t negate it; He didn’t condemn it. He didn’t rise up with righteous indignation, nor did He pass it off as meaningless. What He did do … was point to the general problem of sin. His famous line: “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7). No one did. Why? Well, that’s obvious. There wasn’t a single one of these “holy” scribes and Pharisees without sin. And when they all slinked away, Jesus addressed the woman. “I’m not bringing judgment at this time,” He told her, but that was not a dismissal of sin. “Go and sin no more.” (John 8:11). Very clearly, “You have been sinning; stop.”

I take Jesus’s approach rather than the current cancel culture approach. I take Jesus’s approach rather than the current approach demonstrated 2,000 years ago by the Pharisees. I recommend the approach Jesus commanded in the Sermon on the Mount. “First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” (Matt 7:5). Because none of us is without sin.

So I’m not willing to burn down a Ravi Zacharias or a Jonathan Edwards for accusations, truthful or otherwise, of sin. To be sure, they had sin, but it is equally certain that I am not without sin and “If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?” (Psa 130:3). I’ll look instead at the fruits of their lives and thank God for that, and I’ll pray that my sin problems don’t prevent God from using me in ways I cannot fathom. None of us are without sin. It’s not us that determines what God does with us. I’d like to think He can use the foolish and the weak and the base (1 Cor 1:26-29) like them … like me. So I don’t have to justify their errors; I just have to praise God for the use He makes of all of us sinners.

Lifelong Learners — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  Matthew 11:29

Over the past couple of decades, Western society has emphasized the idea of lifelong learning. Rather than restricting education to formal school settings, lifelong learning promotes voluntary and continual growing in knowledge and understanding, both practical and theoretical.

Yet millennia before this current way of thinking, Jesus told his followers to become lifelong learners of him. He called it discipleship.

Over and over, the Gospel writers record Jesus saying, “Follow me.” Jesus called men, women, and children to follow his way of life and do the Father’s will as he did.

Our purpose, as Christians in the twenty-first century, is the same. We must spend our lives learning from Jesus. We must study and copy Jesus’ submission to the Father; embrace God’s words about sin, repentance, and forgiveness; follow the Spirit’s teaching on love, righteousness, and justice.

Too often we promote making disciples but forget about being disciples. In fact, we can’t produce followers of Jesus without following Jesus ourselves. It must begin with us.

Paul said, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1 NIV). Another translation puts it this way, “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1 ESV).

So, as lifelong learners of Jesus, we copy Jesus, in the power of the Spirit, and urge others to copy us. Inviting fellow believers to imitate our actions spurs us to act rightly. We don’t follow Jesus perfectly, but day by day, month by month, year by year, we learn from him and become more like him as he transforms us by his Spirit.

Jesus, I want to learn from you. I want to think right. I want to hear the Spirit’s voice and obey. I know I can only do that through studying your Word and obeying it in the power of the Holy Spirit, whom you have given me.

Seek to learn from Jesus, talking with him throughout the day and following any directions he speaks into your heart.

God Never Would Have Chosen Me Afterwards
Romans 9:11; Ephesians 1:4

I believe the doctrine of election, because I am quite sure that if God had not chosen me I should never have chosen him; and I am sure he chose me before I was born, or else he never would have chosen me afterwards.

Better to Share Contemplation Than Merely to Contemplate
Psalm 22:22; 40:9; 145:7; Mark 1:35–39

Even as it is better to enlighten than merely to shine, so is it better to give to others the fruits of one’s contemplation than merely to contemplate.

Guy Who Started Two Wars Calls For Civility — The Babylon Bee

SHANKSVILLE, PA—In a stirring speech at the Flight 93 Memorial yesterday, some guy who started two wars called for more civility.

“Yes, I may have started two foreign wars on false pretenses that wasted trillions of dollars and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people,” said the guy whose name we can’t remember at the moment. “However, it’s important to understand the real threats to our great nation are the people who took selfies in the Capitol building a few months ago. Those Trump supporters are children of the same foul spirit as Al Qaeda and they must be brought to justice.”

The Trump supporters, who had sent sons and daughters to fight and die in this guy’s war for 20 years in exchange for being insulted, mistreated, pushed from their manufacturing jobs, and called racist, responded to the speech in a very frightening and uncivil way by saying “Boooooooo.”

Thanks to the sweeping and intrusive Patriot Act surveillance measures enacted by the Texas-sounding guy on stage, the evil uncivil hecklers were discovered and quickly detained by the FBI and thrown in prison awaiting trial in 2-10 years.

President Biden was reportedly so inspired by the speech that he ordered another drone strike of foreign aid workers in Afghanistan.

Yesterday Donald Trump Spoke At 9/11 ‘Moonies’ Conference Organized by Deceiver ‘Mother’ Moon Where He Praised The Unification Church Cult — Now The End Begins

On Saturday, Donald Trump spoke at a conference organized by Hak Ja Han Moon, the widow of Reverend Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the controversial Unification Church.

We have been warning you for some time now that Donald Trump seemed to no longer have the protective hand of God on him, and this story today should erase any lingering doubt you may have about that statement not being true. Yesterday, Donald Trump spoke before a gathering of the Unification Church cult, where he praised the works of ‘Mother’ Moon, who calls herself a goddess and speaks of her late husband as “the messiah”. Trump lavished praise on their cult and called it the will of “almighty God”. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but Donald Trump is working to bring in the One World Religion.

“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” Matthew 24:11 (KJB)

Last week, Donald Trump together with false teacher Paula White created something called the National Faith Advisory Board, where they are seeking to woo the Vatican and the Roman Catholic Church into their fold. We told you how Paula White last year spoke on behalf of Mother Moon, praising her works as well. Now you are seeing Donald Trump for who he really is, a lost man praising a cult leader who calls herself a ‘goddess’, and where all of this is leading. Trump has hitched his wagon to Paula White, and they are both headed to the same place.

You can get mad at me all you like, won’t bother me a bit. There’s no hope in the pope, no hope in Trump and no hope in America. You are watching everything come crumbling down, make sure you’re saved before Flight #777 takes off. That blessed hope is the only hope you have left.

Donald Trump spoke at a 9/11 ‘Moonies’ conference organized by the widow of Reverend Sun Myung Moon, praising the controversial Unification Church

FROM BUSINESS INSIDER: Reverend Moon founded the church in South Korea in 1954 before moving to the United States in 1971, and it has been widely described as a cult. Donald Trump was a featured keynote speaker at the “Rally of Hope” event, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

In his speech, Trump said, “I want to thank the Universal Peace Federation and in particular Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, a tremendous person, for her incredible work on behalf of peace all over the world.”

“What they have achieved on the peninsula is just amazing. In just a few decades, the inspiration that they have caused for the entire planet is unbelievable, and I congratulate you again and again,” Trump said about the couple.

Reverend Moon called himself a Messiah and claimed that he had been asked by Jesus Christ to continue his work on earth. The controversial church, whose followers are colloquially referred to as “Moonies,” gained notoriety for arranging mass weddings between strangers. The group is still active around the world. READ MORE

When government officials sanction murder | The Christian Post

During the 20th century the world witnessed “communist, Nazi, fascist and military dictators who between them killed more than 100 million people.” China’s Mao Zedong murdered 60 million; the Soviet Union’s Joseph Stalin murdered 40 million; and Germany’s Adolf Hitler murdered 30 million.

Today the Taliban is murdering innocent civilians in Afghanistan. This horrific headline a month ago came as no surprise: “As Taliban Captures Major Cities, Reports of Killings and Torture Pour In.”

When these terrorists were handed control of the government, they began going door-to-door murdering Afghans who had assisted the United States military over the past 20 years. The Taliban has also set its sights on Christians and other vulnerable Afghans.

poll at the end of August prior to our military withdrawal in Afghanistan revealed these statistics: “More than 8 in 10 (84%) Americans think U.S. troops should remain in the country until all Americans are evacuated, and just over 7 in 10 (71%) think they should stay until all Afghans who helped the United States are evacuated as well.”

Why would 16% of Americans want to leave our fellow Americans behind, and why would 29% of Americans want to leave our Afghan partners behind? Such callousness is mind-boggling.

On another life-and-death issue, a national survey revealed that “vast majorities of Americans reject abortion the day before a child is born (80%), abortion in the third trimester (79%), and removing medical care for a viable child after birth (82%). Once again, the callousness of 20% of Americans is staggering.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has now pledged to bring a bill, H.B. 3755, to the House floor that would “strike down current state restrictions on abortion and prevent states from imposing new restrictions on abortions.”

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, said in a statement: “Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi want to permanently stifle American debate on abortion and instead impose a regime of abortion on demand, up until the moment of birth, paid for by the taxpayer.”

When government officials sanction murder, they carry out the work of Satan. Jesus said, “The devil was a murderer from the beginning” (John 8:44).

Hubert Humphrey was a pro-life Democrat who served as the vice president of the United States in the 1960s.

Humphrey stated in 1976: “The moral test of a government is how it treats those who are at the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadow of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”

How many of Humphrey’s fellow Democrats in office today are willing to take such a bold and loving stand for unborn babies? It often requires courage to do the right thing, especially when many of your peers have chosen to turn a blind eye to the most vulnerable among us.

study that came out a couple years ago “confirms that babies in the womb can feel pain as early as 12 weeks old.” Earlier this year Senator Lindsey Graham and other colleagues reintroduced the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Graham said, “There are only seven countries that allow wholesale abortions at the 20-week period, including China and North Korea. The United States should not be in that club.”

Gianna Jessen testified against Planned Parenthood during a congressional hearing in 2015, saying that “her biological mother was seven-and-a-half months pregnant when she was advised to undergo an abortion by saline — which ‘burns the baby inside and out, blinding and suffocating the child, who is then born dead, usually within 24 hours.’”

“Instead of dying,” Jessen said on Capitol Hill, “after 18 hours of being burned in my mother’s womb, I was delivered alive in an abortion clinic in Los Angeles on April 6, 1977. Doctors did not expect me to live. I did.”

The horror of abortion is ghastly. An estimated 62 million abortions have occurred since the landmark Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.

Jesus said, “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony and slander” (Matthew 15:19).

When a person becomes a Christian, he or she turns away from committing those sins, as well as every other kind of sin. Christ alone can change a dark heart, but it requires repentance and faith in Christ.

Each one of us needs the forgiveness Jesus earned for us through His death on the cross. He rose from the dead on the third day, so that we can rise again and live with Him forever in Heaven (1 Corinthians 15:3-8; John 11:25,26). In the meantime, followers of Christ are called to pray earnestly for the spiritual and physical needs of others. This includes those left behind in Afghanistan, as well as helpless babies being formed by God in their mother’s womb.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalm 139:13,14).

Government officials who sanction murder need a new heart. If they turn away from their deadly agenda, they, too, can be delivered from sin and saved by God’s grace. This is what the Apostle Paul meant when he said, “I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds” (Acts 26:20).

Talk is cheap. Deeds speak volumes. Jesus put it best: “You will know them by their fruit” (Matthew 7:16).

Sen. Sanders: ‘There is a real danger’ infrastructure, reconciliation bills will fail over Dem infighting

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said Sunday “there is a real danger” congressional Democrats could fail to deliver on two major pieces of legislation furthering President Biden’s domestic agenda if moderates like Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., can’t agree on the price tag.

  • US stocks are priced for near perfection, which could lead to disappointing returns for investors going forward, according to Deutsche Bank.
  • While earnings growth has been strong post-pandemic, there may be little room left for improvement, the bank said in a note on Thursday.
  • “With the current cycle advancing very quickly, the risk that the correction is hard is growing.”

US stocks are priced for perfection following a robust year of post-pandemic earnings growth, but high valuations suggest a sharp market sell-off could be imminent, according to a Thursday note from Deutsche Bank.

On nearly every valuation metric, US stocks are trading at “historically extreme” levels, according to the bank. Trailing and forward price to earnings, enterprise value to EBITDA, and cash flow valuation metrics are well into the 90th percentile, Deutsche Bank highlighted.

Historical data shows that when valuations have gotten to such high levels in the past, five-year forward returns were on average negative. And with expectations high for continued strong earnings growth, investors could soon be let down as results potentially disappoint, the note said.

“We are skeptical the 85-year trend in earnings has changed,” Deutsche Bank said. The bank highlighted that analysts may soon be done playing catch-up in revising their earnings estimates to the upside.

“We look for earnings beats and upgrades to slow, diminishing if not ending what has been a key driver of equity upside, particularly year to date and supported multiples,” Deutsche Bank explained. The bank thinks confusion over where the market is in its current recovery cycle can explain a bulk of the recent gains, and is also one of the main risks going forward.

“At a fundamental level, we believe the key reason multiples are high is market confusion over where we are in the earnings cycle, in part reflecting the speed and surprise with which the economic recovery has unfolded and the large persistent beats this generated,” Deutsche Bank explained.

“So the cycle is much more advanced and the risk is that activity begins to slow, while the market is priced for most of the recovery as yet to come and large beats to continue,” the bank added. Weaker-than-expected economic data has slowly been materializing, most recently illustrated by the miss in August’s jobs report.

“With the current cycle advancing very quickly, the risk that the correction is hard is growing,” Deutsche Bank concluded.

GA Gov. Kemp: Biden Vaccine Mandate Sets Bad Precedent, “What Are They Going To Do Next?” | RealClearPolitics Videos

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said he was “strategizing” with other Republican governors about how to push back against the Biden administration’s newly announced vaccine mandate. They are “looking into all legal options right now,” he said Friday on FOX Business Network’s “Kudlow.” “Biden’s talking tougher to the nation’s governors and unvaccinated Americans than he did to the Taliban,” he said. “He says this is not about freedom. To me, this has everything to do with freedom.” “This is pandemic politics 3.0 now,” Kemp said. “It’s the typical playbook to distract from the crisis at the border, the drastic pullout of Afghanistan… I think everybody agrees we need to get out of there. The way it was done is really heartbreaking and tragic for all those individuals that served or gave their life, the ultimate sacrifice over there and God bless those people and their families that had to actually watch that – but also, it’s distracting from the problem that small businesses and medium-sized businesses and big businesses are having right now, and that’s runaway inflation. Because of the policies of this administration.” “And it is not just about this one issue. I mean, what are they going to do next? If they set the precedent for this, what are they going to come for next in your business, in your nonprofit? That’s what scares me,” he said.

Declassified FBI 9/11 memo ‘puts to bed any doubts about Saudi complicity’ says group of victims’ families | RT USA News

Declassified FBI 9/11 memo ‘puts to bed any doubts about Saudi complicity’ says group of victims’ families

The FBI has declassified a long-sought memo detailing its investigation into the support the 9/11 hijackers received. Families of the victims of the attacks believe it’s enough to draw conclusions about Saudi involvement.

The document released on Saturday is from 2016, when the now-closed FBI investigation into Saudi links to the terror attacks was still active. Families of 9/11 victims have asked multiple administrations for its release, expecting it to provide proof implicating the Saudi government or Saudi officials. Riyadh denied any connection to the plot.

The heavily redacted 16-page document outlines ties between Saudi associates, some of the 9/11 hijackers and various people sympathetic to the Al-Qaeda cause. It didn’t provide the smoking gun that some critics of the Saudi government hoped for, but offered more details about the connections.

One of the persons of interest in the investigation was Omar al-Bayoumi, whom the FBI long suspected to be a Saudi intelligence operative. Bayoumi provided support to Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar, two of the hijackers, after they arrived in the US in January 2000.

A newly declassified pre-9/11 report exposes Al-Qaeda ‘sleeper’ cells across US, so why was the intelligence not acted on?

According to the memo, a source told the FBI that Bayoumi held a “very high status” in the Saudi consulate in Los Angeles. He was regarded “higher than many of the Saudi persons in charge” of the diplomatic mission, the memo said, which was strange considering his overt position as a mere student.

One of the people he was in “almost daily contact” with during the hijackers’ stay in Los Angeles and San Diego was Osama Bassnan, a Saudi national and a suspected agent.

According to the memo, Bassnan expressed open support for terrorism. In 1992, he hosted a party at his home in Washington for the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, ‘Blind Sheik’ Omar Abdel-Rahman. He also “expressed enthusiastic support” for Osama bin Laden and approved of suicide bombings in the name of Islam.

In April 2001, the wives of Bassnan and Bayoumi were arrested together in San Diego for shoplifting from a jewelry store.

Another Saudi national mentioned in the memo on multiple occasions is Fahad al-Thumairy, an official at the consulate, who too provided logistical assistance to the two hijackers. Sources told the FBI that the Saudi officials held “extremist beliefs.”

Thumairy was linked through communications to various people with Al-Qaeda sympathies. One such link, which the memo described as “concerning,” led FBI investigators to Ahmed Ressam, who was convicted for the 2000 Al-Qaeda plot to bomb the Los Angeles International Airport.

The group 9/11 Families United, which seeks to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for its alleged role in the terrorist plot, welcomed the declassification of the memo, saying it “puts to bed any doubts about Saudi complicity in the attacks.”

It added that the release was “the first step by the Biden Administration, in the wake of the President’s recent Executive Order, towards declassifying and releasing government documents” related to the attacks.

Earlier this month, President Joe Biden ordered the Justice Department to review and possibly release the documents by the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. A wider effort to declassify similar papers is underway. Previous administrations declined calls to publish such materials, citing national security.

The 2001 attacks killed over 3,000 people, becoming the deadliest terrorist plot in the country’s history and triggering a world-altering change in US foreign policy, resulting in the so-called Global War on Terror. Most of the 19 hijackers were Saudi nationals.

Going from ‘video game sniper’ to remote killer withers away who you are, drone operator turned whistleblower tells RT | RT USA News

Going from ‘video game sniper’ to remote killer withers away who you are, drone operator turned whistleblower tells RT

Targeted killings by US drones are notoriously prone to claiming civilian lives. It takes a toll on drone pilots too, as the job slowly eats away their souls, an ex-operator told RT in an interview for the Unheard Voices project.

Brandon Bryant served in the US military between 2006 and 2011, targeting drone strikes from the Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico. His job was to point a laser at where a Hellfire missile fired by a coworker from a Predator drone should hit. He estimates that he personally contributed to the deaths of 13 people.

After the first time he helped kill three people that he believed were innocent, he called his mother, crying. “She told me it was good that I felt bad about it, because if I felt good about it I would just be another psychopath,” he recalled.

Like many other recruits, Bryant joined the military because it was a way to get an education. He wanted to be a journalist.

The military showed up one day and said, we’ll pay for your education if you serve for a minimum of four years. How can anyone turn it down?

He was among many young adults, who were told that their new occupation was to “kill people and break things,” he said. Drone operators are “guys and gals” fresh out of high school, who are “basically video game snipers, four months of training, put into a position to make [life and death] decisions.”

Watching people being killed, even through a monitor from over 10,000km away, comes with a cost. Bryant saw the deaths of friendly soldiers, hostiles and innocent civilians, including those whose lives he helped end.

“‘Mental degradation’ would be a proper term,” he said, explaining how operators cope with the stress. “Every shot that we took – like they’re cheering, they are congratulating each other, they are high-fiving each other.”

It’s like a withering away of who you are.

Drone wars were launched under George W. Bush, but it was Barack Obama, who ramped up its use significantly, and Bryant was part of that surge. One of the most controversial drone strikes under the Democrat president – and one that impacted Bryant a lot – happened in Yemen in 2011. It killed 16-year-old US citizen Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, the son of US-Yemeni preacher and terrorist figure Anwar al-Awlaki. Also a US citizen, he was killed in a ‘signature strike’ two weeks prior.

Leaks from the US government indicated that Abdulrahman was a bystander killed in a legitimate strike targeting a senior Al-Qaeda operative. Bryant said he heard a different reasoning: “They said because they didn’t want him to become a figurehead.”

Donald Trump, who infamously once said that “you have to take out [terrorists’] families,” ratcheted up US airstrikes further during his tenure. Anwar al-Awlaki’s eight-year-old daughter was reportedly killed in a US raid weeks after he took office.

“Maybe to them it seems practical, but to me it seems…evil,” Bryant told RT.

When the drone pilot retired from the military he was suffering from PTSD, lacked a sense of identity and a purpose in life, he said. At one point, he almost took his own life with his handgun.

“The only reason I didn’t is because of [my dog]. He just wanted to go for a walk,” he said. “And I am sitting there with a gun in my hand, ready to do it, and he is like ‘dad, let’s go for a walk!

Bryant has found some solace in speaking about his experiences and criticizing the US drone war program. He spoke to RT for its special documentary project, Unheard Voices, produced for the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the many people victimized as a direct consequence of the War on Terror that followed.

FBI Docs: Saudis were in contact with 9/11 hijackers

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, reacts to the FBI report claiming Saudi officials were in contact with 9/11 hijackers, arguing the U.S. needs to get to the root of it and that Saudi Arabia has to be ‘held accountable’ for attacks.
