This refusal of the Israelites to advance from Kadesh into the promised land, filled full the cup of God’s anger against them. He declared that not one man among them, save only Joshua and Caleb, should ever enter that “Promised Land.” For forty days had the Israelites hesitated while their spies explored Palestine; now for forty years should they wander in the wilderness. Every grown man who had resisted the will of God, should perish there; only their children, whom in their fear they had cried out would perish, those little children should be saved, and should enter Palestine at last.
Even in this matter the stubborn Israelites thought to match themselves against God. Whereas before they had feared to advance, now on hearing His decision they insisted on going forward from Kadesh. Moses forbade them, the fiery cloud went not forward with them, “the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.” Yet the men of Israel marched on. Then the inhabitants of the land met them and drove them back with great slaughter, so that the survivors fled to the camp to the protection of Moses and the ark.

The witnesses to the birth of Christ are a complete set of representatives. They represent old and young, male and female, Jew and Gentile, rich and poor. Here the focus is on Anna, a prophetess. Prophetesses were relatively rare in the time of the scriptures. They seem to have been most prominent in spiritually dark times. When men failed to lead and speak God’s Word, the Lord used dedicated and godly women in more visible ways.
For about 400 years before the coming of Christ, we do not hear of a single true prophet. Here, at the end of that age, we see a dedicated prophetess. Anna was a widow who had lost her husband at a young age. Since then, for many decades, she had lived at the temple, fasting and praying, night and day. Some interpret the language to indicate that she would have been well over 100 years old, though the 84 years could also refer to her age.
She was another symbol of the very long time that believers waited for the Saviour. It is a reminder that some will have to wait a lifetime for prayers to be answered. Now, however, she is a picture of thanksgiving and joyful evangelism! When we truly grasp the joy of Christ’s coming, we will begin to speak of Him to others. The Lord Jesus promises that “…whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32).

Pray that more believers would speak about the glory of Christ to their brothers and sisters in the church.

He may cast away for a season but not forever. A woman may leave off her ornaments for a few days, but she will not forget them or throw them upon the dunghill. It is not like the Lord to cast off those whom He loves, for “having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.” Some talk of our being in grace and out of it, as if we were like rabbits that run in and out of their burrows; but, indeed, it is not so. The Lord’s love is a far more serious and abiding matter than this.
He chose us from eternity, and He will love us throughout eternity. He loved us so as to die for us, and we may therefore be sure that His love will never die. His honor is so wrapped up in the salvation of the believer that He can no more cast him of than He can cast off His own robes of office as King of glory. No, no! The Lord Jesus, as a Head, never casts off His members; as a Husband, He never casts off His bride. Did you think you were cast off? Why did you think so evil of the Lord who has betrothed you to Himself? Cast off such thoughts, and never let them lodge in your soul again. “The Lord hath not cast away his people which he foreknew” (Romans 11:2). “He hateth putting away” (Malachi 2:16).

My children often show me the very basics of our humanness. The not-yet-redeemed parts: how we are innately selfish, greedy and impatient. They also show me the heavenly parts: how to play and dream. How to move and make up stories. How to love and come in for a cuddle. Children are not afraid of intimacy and adventure. Their hearts are wide open, ready to love, happy to explore. Children are eager to learn; not yet set in their ways.
While most people love babies, not all people tolerate children. And yet, Jesus said: Let the children come. Children interrupt our ideas of perfection. How often I think of heaven as a perfect place where every duck is in a row. But Jesus said, Let the children come. In a way, I have come to think that He says, Come, let’s invite in the chaos. Let’s fling open the skies and let the noise come in. Let’s learn together and play, like the family I meant for us to be. It’ll be fun.
Prayer: Lord, help me to come to You, like a child. Help me to learn from You, like a child. Help me to be more open to the chaos and noisiness of Life. Help me to see You in these moments. Amen.

Divine omniscience (God’s all-knowingness) gives no comfort to the ungodly mind, but to the child of God it overflows with consolation. God is always thinking about us, never turns aside His mind from us, and always has us before His eyes. This is precisely what we want and need, because it would be dreadful to exist for a moment beyond the observation of our heavenly Father.
His thoughts are always tender, loving, wise, sensible, and far-reaching. They bring to us countless benefits, so it is a choice delight to remember them. The Lord always did think about His people, and so comes their election and the covenant of grace by which their salvation is secured. And He will always think about them, and this will result in their final perseverance by which they will be brought safely to their final rest.
In all our wanderings the watchful glance of the Eternal Watcher is always fixed on us, and we never roam beyond the Shepherd’s eye. In our sorrows He observes us incessantly, and no painful moment escapes Him. In our trials He perceives all our weariness, and writes in His book all the struggles of His faithful ones. These thoughts of the Lord encompass us in all our paths, and penetrate the innermost region of our being. Not a nerve or tissue, valve or vessel, of our bodily organization is uncared for. All the little ones of our world are in the thoughts of the great God.
Dear reader, is this precious to you? Then hold steadfastly to it. Never be led astray by those philosophic fools who preach about an impersonal God (deism) or talk of self-existent, self-governing matter (naturalism). The Lord lives and thinks about us, this is a truth far too precious for us to ever abandon. Catching the attention of an important person is valued so highly that those who have it counts their blessings. But if that is so, how much more valuable is it to be constantly in the thoughts of the King of kings! If the Lord’s thoughts are on me, all is well, and we may rejoice evermore.

It certainly appears that more and more Americans are fed up with Dr. Anthony Fauci.
A brand new book by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was not only on Amazon’s nonfiction bestseller list for the week of Christmas, which began on Dec. 19 but was the number one book on Amazon’s top sellers.
The book, “The Real Dr. Anthony Fauci: The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma, and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health,” confronts the depiction of Fauci as a “hero” by the “pharma-funded mainstream media,” which Kennedy argues he is “anything but,” according to the publisher’s description.
“As director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Dr. Anthony Fauci dispenses $6.1 billion in annual taxpayer-provided funding for scientific research, allowing him to dictate the subject, content, and outcome of scientific health research across the globe,” it reads.
“Fauci uses the financial clout at his disposal to wield extraordinary influence over hospitals, universities, journals, and thousands of influential doctors and scientists — whose careers and institutions he has the power to ruin, advance, or reward,” the book reads.
The author’s findings will “alarm every American — Democrat or Republican — who cares about democracy, our Constitution, and the future of our children’s health.”
“Fauci orchestrated fraudulent studies, and then pressured US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulators into approving a deadly chemotherapy treatment he had good reason to know was worthless against AIDS,” the book description explains.
“Fauci repeatedly violated federal laws to allow his Pharma partners to use impoverished and dark-skinned children as lab rats in deadly experiments with toxic AIDS and cancer chemotherapies,” the book says.
The book also looks at Fauci’s history of partnering with billionaire Bill Gates to “control an increasingly profitable” global vaccine initiative in crooked collusion with elected officials, news media, and social media to establish the “Pharma-Fauci-Gates alliance” which “exercises dominion over global health policy.”
“The Real Anthony Fauci details how Fauci, Gates, and their cohorts use their control of media outlets, scientific journals, key government and quasi-governmental agencies, global intelligence agencies, and influential scientists and physicians to flood the public with fearful propaganda about COVID-19 virulence and pathogenesis, and to muzzle debate and ruthlessly censor dissent,” the book description concludes.
Fauci came under fire earlier this month after he tried moving the goalposts — again.
During an interview on CNN, Fauci said he anticipates the definition of being “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19 will change.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, the definition of full vaccination involves receiving two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, two doses of the Moderna vaccine, or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Fauci seemed to suggest that the definition may change again.

BOLDUAN: “Pfizer’s chief scientific officer said this morning on CNN that he thinks fully vaccinated against Omicron, it means three doses. So, do you think the definition of fully vaccinated should now change?”
FAUCI: “Well, you know, as you say, it’s — it’s a technical, almost semantic definition. And it is the definition for requirements, if someone says, are you fully vaccinated to be able to attend class in a university or college or be able to work in a workplace. Right now, Kate, I don’t see that changing tomorrow or this week or next week. But certainly if you want to talk about optimal protection is, I don’t think anyone would argue that optimal protection is going to be with a third shot. Whether or not it officially gets changed in the definition, I think that’s going to be considered literally on a daily basis. That’s always on the table.”
BOLDUAN: “Always on the table. Because this — and this discussion has been going on for a bit. And I was just kind of with this data coming in this morning, I’m kind of stuck with is it a matter now of when, not if, the definition of fully vaccinated changes?”
FAUCI: “You know, my own personal opinion, Kate, is what you said is correct. It’s going to be a matter of when, not if.”
BOLDUAN: “Does timing of that matter?”
FAUCI: “Well, timing of that matters, Kate, with regard to the lawsuits that are now about OSHA and whether or not a fully vaccinated person that — that — as you know, that — that — that point that was made by the president that private businesses with 100 or more people either should be fully vaccinated or get tested regularly, that federal workers, as you know, are required to be vaccinated, certain people who come under the Medicare/Medicaid. It has implications for that, and that’s the reason why it matters.”
BOLDUAN: “Because there are broad — there’s broad implications for how — how — who — who and when and how — but for you, is sooner — is it sooner rather than later that you’d like to see the definition change if this is just what the data is showing us?”
FAUCI: “You know, Kate, for me as a public health person, I just say get — get your third shot, forget about what the definition is. I just want to see people be optimally protected. That’s what I’m concerned about. And for me that’s unequivocally and unquestionably getting a third shot boost.”
Denmark has recently become the first EU country to approve a new COVID-19 treatment by the US pharmaceutical company Merck, but the decision has run into difficulties as the country’s general practitioners refuse to prescribe the treatment due to insufficient knowledge of how it works, calling it ineffective and potentially even harmful.
This is the fundamental moral – and political – question. Because everything that follows depends on how it is answered. Here is how libertarians – uncapitalized, to differentiate the more/political philosophy from the political party – answer it:
I own me, you own you. We each own ourselves. No more – and no less.
No one else owns anyone else, as that would be an affirmation of slavery, to whatever degree.
Slavery is a moral outrage, to whatever degree.
Those who advocate for it are immoral – are criminals, if they practice it.
Some hold that there is a creator God who owns everything, being the author of all of it. This may be so. But if so, his ownership does not convey title over his creations to some of his creations – to lord it over them. If there is a creator God then our relationship to him is individual – entre nous – and cannot be conveyed to other individuals.
Nonetheless, the claim to title is regularly asserted. Originally in the form of what was styled the “divine right of kings,” who claimed their sovereign right to lord it over over others, having been “anointed” by god.
Or so they said.
This claim to title was rejected, most eloquently by Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence. But without sufficient clarity. Which is why the “divine right” of individual sovereigns over sovereign individuals became the “divine right” of some individuals, who asserted their collective sovereignty over all other individuals.
This form of “divine right” has been called many other things, such as democracy, for instance.
Fox News host Will Cain said Monday that Dr. Anthony Fauci was “power drunk” and needed to be fired after he suggested Sunday that the United States should consider a vaccine requirement for domestic flights and that people should continue to wear masks on airplanes forever.
Cain joined the discussion on “Fox & Friends” with co-hosts Carley Shimkus and Lawrence Jones, and he argued that Fauci was “simply out of control.”
“So you have this sweeping vaccine mandate taking effect in New York City. Also on the Sunday shows, Dr. Fauci [said] he thinks that on flights people will be masked up forever. And also signaled his support for vaccine mandates in order to fly. No,” Shimkus began. “This is a massive overreach and it starts small with things that seemingly make sense like 15 days to slow the spread. You have to mask up during the height of the pandemic and now children are being forced to get vaccinated. You have vaccine mandates for small businesses and possibly a vaccine mandate in order to fly. It is outrageous.”
Shimkus noted that people were speaking out about the mandates, but they often weren’t the people who had any power to effect change or stop the mandates.
“Because of the administration that we have, expect to see more mandates coming down the road,” she added.
“It defies the science though,” Jones replied. “That’s the point we are missing on the airlines. But Will, Dr. Fauci told on himself. He said the reason why he wants this to continue on the airlines is because it’s going to squeeze people to get the vaccination. That’s the real objective is control, not science.”
Fauci had explained to ABC’s Jonathan Karl on Sunday that vaccine mandates for international travel were designed to prevent new infections from coming into the country from outside. He said that for domestic travel — which was reasonably safe due to the advanced filtration systems on airplanes coupled with the industry-wide mask mandates still in effect — and vaccine requirements would likely be more focused on coercing more people to get vaccinated.
“You know, Dr. Anthony Fauci needs to be fired,” Cain replied. “He is simply out of control. He is power drunk. And I would ask any journalist who has access to Dr. Anthony Fauci: find the limits of his own power. Ask him, ask him the limit of his own power. See if you can find the point at which he would go, ‘No, that’s too much. We would never do that.’”
“I will guarantee you can you push the limit as far as can you find and it his answer will be well, ‘We will have to see what the data says at the moment,’” Cain continued. “We are not governed by data. Data which doesn’t support his power-drunk perspective. Data that shows omicron is overwhelmingly mild. But his power is limited by the foundational documents of this country. He is not empowered to tell us to get vaccinated to fly. He thinks so. And I would challenge you, find the limits. Ask him. See what he thinks the limits of his power might be.”
The conversation turned back to vaccine mandates that were already in place, in some cases forcing workers to either get vaccinated or lose their jobs.
“We are telling American citizens that either you can provide — either you get the vaccine or you can’t provide for your family,” Jones said. “I just think that’s a slippery slope, Will. That is the slope.”
“Yeah, it is the slope,” Shimkus agreed, and Cain added, “We are sliding down it quickly.”

Opponents of compulsory vaccination and other strict Covid measures held a candlelight vigil in Austria’s capital, Vienna on Sunday after the authorities once again extended the lockdown for the unvaccinated.
Protesters marched through central Vienna with candles and lights, carrying signs that read, “When injustice becomes a right, resistance becomes a duty,” and “Stay away from our children.”
Between 2,000 and 4,000 people attended the gathering, according to Austrian media.
The ‘Sea of Lights’ rally was held in response to a demonstration of the same name in Vienna on December 19, when around 40,000 people gathered to honor the victims of the pandemic. Last week’s rally was organized on social media by supporters of vaccination, Heute newspaper said.
Overall, 18 protests against compulsory vaccination and other strict Covid measures were held across Austria on Sunday. The next major protest is expected on January 8.
Austria is the first EU country to introduce a general vaccination mandate, which will take effect on February 1, 2022. In the beginning of last week, the parliament extended lockdown restrictions for the unvaccinated for another 10 days.
“Omicron is probably just around the corner and will trigger a strong fifth wave,” President Alexander Van der Bellen tweeted at the time, urging the public to receive a third dose of the vaccine.
Health Minister Wolfgang Muckstein also recommended receiving a booster shot. Austria cannot stop the Omicron variant, but “can gain time to prepare in the best possible way,” he told Austrian media.
