Song of Confidence — VCY America

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. (Psalm 138:7)

Wretched walking in the midst of trouble. Nay, blessed walking, since there is a special promise for it. Give me a promise, and what is the trouble? What doth my Lord teach me here to say? Why this—”Thou wilt revive me.” I shall have more life, more energy, more faith. Is it not often so, that trouble revives us, like a breath of cold air when one is ready to faint?

How angry are my enemies and especially the archenemy! Shall I stretch forth my hand and fight my foes! No, my hand is better employed in doing service for my Lord. Besides, there is no need, for my God will use His far-reaching arm, and He will deal with them far better than I could if I were to try. “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” He will with His own right hand of power and wisdom save me, and what more can I desire?

Come, my heart, talk this promise over to thyself till thou canst use it as the song of thy confidence, the solace of thy holiness. Pray to be revived thyself and leave the rest with the Lord, who performeth all things for thee.

The Bible and its Story: The Idlers at the Gate

This celebrated sixty-ninth psalm has been called the missionary’s psalm. It speaks of the miseries of one far from home and kindred, of one who proclaims God to those who will not heed. The unbelievers, in their rage and scorn, heap injury upon the preacher, afflict him both in body and in mind. “Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

‎“I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.

‎“For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up, and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.”

‎Then follows the picture of this good man mocked by the idlers who even to-day, as in the psalmist’s time, gather about the gate of every Eastern city, to chat with those who pass, and comment upon them. The ridicule of these falls heavily upon the psalmist; he cries out, “Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

‎“Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness; and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.”

May 1 Evening Verse of The Day

119:97 I love your law. The psalmist loves the law because it comes from his God and Savior. See “The Law of God” at Ex. 20:1.[1]

119:97 Those who love the Lord will certainly love His Word as well. And this love will be manifested in musing on the Bible at every opportunity. It is in moments of meditation that we suddenly discover new beauties and wonders in the Scriptures.[2]

97. “O how love I thy law!” It is a note of exclamation. He loves so much that he must express his love, and in making the attempt he perceives that it is inexpressible—and therefore cries, “O how I love!” We not only reverence but love the law, we obey it out of love, and even when it chides us for disobedience we love it none the less. The law is God’s law, and therefore it is our love. We love it for its holiness, and pine to be holy; we love it for its wisdom, and study to be wise; we love it for its perfection, and long to be perfect. Those who know the power of the gospel perceive an infinite loveliness in the law as they see it fulfilled and embodied in Christ Jesus. “It is my meditation all the day.” This was both the effect of his love and the cause of it. He meditated in God’s word because he loved it, and then loved it the more because he meditated in it. He could not have enough of it, so ardently did he love it: all the day was not too long for his converse with it. His matin prayer, his noonday thought, his evensong were all out of Holy Writ; yea, in his worldly business he still kept his mind saturated with the law of the Lord. It is said of some men that the more you know them the less you admire them; but the reverse is true of God’s word. Familiarity with the word of God breeds affection, and affection seeks yet greater familiarity. When “thy law,” and “my meditation” are together all the day, the day grows holy, devout, and happy, and the heart lives with God. David turned away from all else; for in the preceding verse he tells us that he had seen an end of all perfection; but be turned in unto the law and tarried there the whole day of his life on earth, growing henceforth wiser and holier.[3]

Ver. 97. O how love I Thy law! it is my meditation all the day.Love to the Scriptures:

I. They are indubitably authenticated and divinely inspired.

1. The concurrent testimony of Jew and Gentile, of friend and foe, borne through successive ages to the present time, ascertains their authenticity and truth.

2. Existing rites and festivals attest the truth of sacred history.

3. The veracity and accuracy of the inspired books received additional confirmation from the undesigned coincidences of expression in the writings of the sacred penmen, with the relations of facts and occurrences by others, or those narrated by themselves on other occasions.

4. But it is not mere accuracy for which we contend, but also for the Divine inspiration of the Scriptures. They were written under the direction and influence of the Holy Ghost.

II. They are the only infallible depositories of all true theology and morals.

III. They have been transmitted to us without any material alterations or corruptions.

IV. They have survived the most rigorous attempts of Paganism and superstition to suppress or destroy them.

V. The scriptures are every way deserving of incessant and delightful study.

1. They develop the origin and destination of man.

2. They unveil the dispensations of Divine Providence.

3. They unfold the astonishing mysteries of redemption.

4. They contain the most sublime morality.

5. They reveal the solemnities of eternity. (J. Townley, D.D.)

Reasons for loving the Bible:

I. Its Authorship. It is the Word of God: its contents were dictated by eternal wisdom; its laws are the laws of heaven; its teachings are the teachings of Jehovah. It is an embodiment of the eternal mind God has adopted every method for instructing man. When teaching us about Himself, His milder character is painted in a thousand hues, delightfully blended. Instead of employing a pen, He ordered the sun to photograph His lovelier attributes upon the landscape; while His majesty stands out in bold relief in mountains whose snow-capped heads, towering in haughty grandeur, appear to prop up with their broad based pillar-like support, the spacious firmament. But His mind, in reference to man, is conveyed in the language of men, by inbreathing His thoughts and intentions into the minds of the sacred penmen, and then, by His Spirit’s infallible unerringness, guiding the hand to write them. When James I. wrote a book for the edification of his son Charles, it was pompously called by that high-sounding title, “Basilikon Doron”—a royal gift. How much more may the Bible be called “A royal gift,” since its Author is the King of kings—compared with whose kingliness the greatest and brightest of earthly crowns no more resembles royalty than a crown of thorns does one sparkling with diamonds! Not only is this Book a royal, but a parental, gift—the gift of our heavenly Father: a Book dedicated to, and designed for, the eternal benefit of His children. Yes, it is our Father’s legacy to us.

II. Its contents. The very first sentence of Scripture dispels a dark cloud of ignorance, which for ages enveloped the most learned and far-seeing sages of the Grecian schools. Even to that great emporium of learning, Athens, the world’s origin was enchambered, locked up in some dark, mysterious recess, to which she herself could find no key. But in the very first sentence of the Bible we see the Omnipotent Jehovah emerging from the still quiet of eternal solitude, speaking His creative fiat, and a world is born. Not only do we learn our origin, but our destiny. This was one of the most perplexing enigmas which the ancients tried—but tried in vain—to solve. A dense mist hung heavily over the boundaries of the spirit world, which no optic glass of man’s device could penetrate. The wisest and best of heathen philosophers could not follow man beyond the horizon of death.

III. Its style. Here one finds the most majestic imagery, the sublimest figures, and the noblest strains of eloquence. Here is found poetry unparalleled for grandeur, pathos, and fire. “No songs,” says Milton, “are like the songs of Zion.” Here, in touching, melting passionateness, we are told the most affecting narratives; and here are pictures true to the very life, pencilled from the old world scenery. And though the book is comparatively small, what biographical encyclopaedia ever contained so much useful history?

IV. Its power.

V. Its suitability for our needs in all circumstances. It is the guide of youth and the staff of old age. No other lamp sheds such a bright, cheering radiance, as this does, to relieve the gloom in the chamber of sickness. It is a garden of healing balm for the wounded spirit; and to those who are tempest-tossed it affords many a peaceful haven to take refuge in. And then, this is the only book which contains light enough to guide us through the valley of the shadow of death. Shining brightest in the dark, it is then more than ever a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. (G. Terry.)

The love of the law:

Many have expressed their indebtedness to this long psalm for encouragement, inspiration, direction. It has been a rod and a staff to comfort them. It might seem at first that such expressions as abound in this psalm cannot be applied to the law as we understand the term. This is an ill-advised opinion, and marks some mental confusion, for in truth law is exceedingly interesting. I do not know of any men who are more enamoured of their profession than lawyers. But I mark that two things are connected with the pleasure which these men have in their calling. There are two terms which are constantly used. I ask what a young man is doing, and I am told that he is studying law. I ask the same question a few years later, and I am told he is practising law. These two things belong in the delight of the man of the law, and are essential to its permanence. It is not enough that one should have a collection of law-books, should occasionally read in them, should admire very many things which they contain; but he must make a patient study of the law, and faithfully apply its principles to the interests of men. Grant me these two things, and I will promise a true delight in the law of the Lord. The law of the Lord includes all the announcements of His will. It embraces the Ten Commandments and all the legislation of Moses. The teachings of the prophets belong in it, and the words of Christ Himself and of His apostles. The term is now to be used in a wider sense than when this unknown psalmist pronounced his eulogium upon the statutes and testimonies of the law. It is the entire will of God, as this is given for the government of our life.

I. Why should we love the law of the Lord?

1. Because it is the Lord’s law. It is His nature expressing itself. God is love, and law is love, guiding the men it loves. It is the revelation of His heart. Kings make laws: God reveals them. It is quietly given to us, not amid the thunders and lightnings of Sinai, but by voices long silent, in the pages of the Bible, in our conscience and reason. It is given in principles, not in regulations. It is given in outline, which we are to complete by such precepts as our life demands.

2. The law of the Lord is right. It is perfect, as our Father in heaven is perfect. It fosters the right; it secures honesty in business, integrity in government, charity in society. It enlarges our joy. The fullest declaration we have of it begins with the note of pleasure. “I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt.” So the Sermon on the Mount, more strict in its requirements than the Decalogue, opens with the Beatitudes. “Blessed and blessed,” and from this beginning the Teacher gives His precepts that the kindness of His heart may be fully enjoyed by those who hear Him. The law gives security also. It is the rule of the best. It is the guidance of the wisest. You wish to sail in the ship which has the best captain, and the one who is furnished with the best charts and compasses. In all our way through this world, with its confusion and its peril, we should love the law of the Lord which will guide us safely and in honour.

3. Again, the law of the Lord is the law of heaven. Its principles belong in all the worlds. The loftiest angel and the humblest man of all the redeemed observe this law with delight. The best proof that men are going to heaven is that they love the law of God before they reach its gate; that they delight to meditate in the law, to follow its commands, to live in its control. Unless this is true of us here, it can be little pleasure to anticipate the life in a world where the law of the Lord wilt surround us like the atmosphere, to be breathed in to-day and for ever.

4. Finally, we should love the law of the Lord because it is the law of Christ. It pervaded His life. “I came not to do Mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me.” “I do always those things which please Him.”

II. If we approve this which has been said, and agree that we should truly love the law of the Lord, the question may still come to our minds, By what means shall I love it? I cannot compel my affection, though I could readily bring myself to obey the statutes. Yet delight in the law would not be more difficult than obedience if we would take the steps which lead to it.

1. If we are to love the law of the Lord, it is essential that we should know it. It has those attractive qualities which will commend themselves to any honest mind. It comes to us as the heart of God, and our heart will respond to it if we are true. It is not by admiring it afar off, by passing it upon the street and becoming familiar with its appearance, by being courteous and showing it favours, but by knowing it as one knows his friend. You think you know the law of the Lord; but have you lived with it, taken it into your counsel, walked with it?

2. We find the love of the law by taking it from Christ. It is expressed in His life, it is spoken by His lips. The melody of a song depends greatly upon the voice of the singer. The law of the Lord has too often been spoken by human lips which had little grace upon them. Hear Christ teach the law. Mark the tone of His voice, the accent, the emphasis. See the radiance of His face. Mark the grace and truth which are upon Him, and the love of the law will spring readily in your heart. I wish that I could persuade you to try this. To do the will of God is a pleasant thing. Let us believe it, and live in the delight of it.

3. But if love delays to come, let us obey with all the heart we have, and all which rises at our summons; let us do the things which God would have us do. This will be right, and the beginning of right living, and the love will grow with the doing of His will till meditation will be delightful and obedience will be the freedom of a great joy. It is a good sign when a man loves the law of the Lord. One may be judged by what he loves. “There is something magnificent in having a country to love.” There is something magnificent in having a God to love, and in having the heart to love Him. Happy man, that he can find solace in the statutes of God! Happy is he in his companions that they can enjoy the singing of his testimonies! Thus they charm away the weariness of the march, still their minds for the night, gather hope for the morning. (A. MeKenzie, D.D.)[4]

97. O how have I loved thy law! Not contented with a simple affirmation, the prophet exclaims, by way of interrogation, that he was inflamed with incredible love to the law of God; and, in proof of this, he adds, that he was continually engaged in meditating upon it. If any person boasts that he loves the Divine Law, and yet neglects the study of it, and applies his mind to other things, he betrays the grossest hypocrisy; for the love of the law, and especially such an ardent love of it as the prophet here expresses, always produces continual meditation upon it. And, assuredly, unless God’s law inflame and ravish our hearts with the love of it, many allurements will quickly steal upon us, and lead us away to vanity. The prophet, then, here commends such a love of the law, as, possessing all our senses, effectually excludes all the deceits and corruptions to which we are otherwise too much inclined.[5]

Ver. 97.—O how love I Thy law! (comp. vers. 47, 48, 113, 119, 127, etc.). As the psalmist goes on with his meditation he becomes more and more filled with a deep love of the Law of God, which is not to him a restraint or a burden, but a solace and a “delight.” It is my meditation all the day (see vers. 15, 23, 48, 78, etc.).[6]

Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long (v. 97). The central theme of this psalm is summed up by this exclamation. Twice already the psalmist has declared his love for God’s commandments (vv. 47, 48) and he returns to this later on (v. 127). Now for the first time he says he loves God’s law, but this statement is going to be repeated (vv. 113, 163), along with affirmation of love for God’s statutes (v. 119) and precepts (v. 159). Constant meditation on God’s revelation provides wisdom that cannot be found elsewhere, and this wisdom exceeds that of enemies, teachers, and elders, as the following verses explain.[7]

Choosing What Rules Your Heart — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

Living in harmony doesn’t mean overlooking differences or living without boundaries. No, it means being willing to be a “peacemaker”, not simply a “peacekeeper”.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful”. Colossians 3:15

Busy, breathless, things seem a little crazy lately?    Most of us know that kind of running. It just happens. Life happens. As things pile up, things fall behind. As we run, our quiet peace becomes a quickened pace.  Our relationships start to show a frayed edge. The bank account of calm that we have carefully invested in, slowly gets drawn down until it’s in the red. Concern and unrest begin to rule our hearts and our minds and our behavior begins to show the edginess of impatience and irritation.

There is a prescription for just such times in life. It’s an age-old formula that works to restore peace to the center of our lives. It’s a way we can live in peace and confidence even when life swirls around us at a crazy pace.

The wisdom God reveals in the Bible is foundational wisdom that can carry us through our days and right through life. When it is applied, the power and strength behind it will amaze you. It will change your day-to-day living.

Choose peace to rule your heart.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful”. Colossians 3:15

Allowing or “letting” God’s peace rule in your inner being is a choice that involves being intentional about 2 things: living in harmony with other believers and being consciously thankful.

Living in harmony doesn’t mean overlooking differences or living without boundaries. No, it means being willing to be a “peacemaker”, not simply a “peacekeeper”. It means looking with gratitude at the situations and people around you and, from that platform of gratitude and harmony, create solutions with the help of God’s Holy Spirit.

Peace is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit that you can ask for as you rely on God’s help in choosing peace to rule your heart.

Father God, So often I choose things other than peace to rule my heart. Right now I confess that _____________is ruling my heart. I ask You for Your peace to flow to me and through me by the power of the Holy Spirit. I choose to live in harmony with other believers as much as it is in my power to. Please give me wisdom. I choose today to be thankful in every way I can and especially for You as my help and strength. Today I will let peace rule my heart by the power of Jesus Christ in me. I pray this in His name, amen.

Choosing What Rules Your Heart — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

The Bible and its Story: “Save Me, O God”

Psalm sixty-nine turns to tell again of the earthly sorrows of the righteous. Of all the psalms of personal suffering, it is perhaps the most widely known. It opens with a picture of the human soul alone amid the flood waters of sorrow. “Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

‎“I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

‎“I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.”

‎The sufferer confesses to both folly and sin, “O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee,” yet clings earnestly to hope in the infinite mercy of God, “Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.” Again and again comes that picture of the rising flood. “Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.” Then the form of the Deliverer is seen approaching, and confidence returns. “Hear me, O Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.”

Jesse Watters Can Barely Keep It Together As Sen. Kennedy Lists Stupid Things Gov Spends Money On [VIDEO] | LifeZette

To date, the federal government has spent over $3 trillion allegedly trying to fight COVID-19. That number continues to climb as Democrats and the Biden administration push for more funding to help them defeat the coronavirus and supposedly save humanity. But while trillions of dollars can be hard to comprehend, apparently, that isn’t the worst thing the government has spent taxpayer money on.

Giving just a few examples of what Americans are paying for, Fox News’ Jesse Watters revealed that $2.3 million was spent on seafood equity.

Sadly, that was just the start. Take a look.

In the video above, Watters broke down the list of government spending, saying, “So the government is good at two things, fighting wars and spending our money. And every year Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma, great state, compiles all this crap into a long list of government waste. Langford highlights, you ready? More than $10 trillion on this ridiculous spending. The most expensive item on the list this year, the $2 billion Joe Biden wasted by not building the border wall. You knew about that already. But you probably didn’t hear about this – $2.3 million dollars we spent, our money, on seafood equity, because every scallop deserves to be treated fairly. And then there’s the 500 grand we spent renovating a ski jump at a club in New Hampshire [at] which Democrat Senators ski. Another 3 million went to fishing in Guam. Who doesn’t love fishing?”

That wasn’t all, as the host outrageously admitted, “Guess how much we paid two authors to write about Russian art? $120,000. I hope you really read this report because you guys paid for it. We paid for this. We paid Russians to write things about art. That’s not how I save the world. But all these projects pale in comparison to my favorite item on the list. 15 grand on a monkey opera. It’s called ‘Monkey, a kung fu puppet parable’, and it’s exactly what it sounds like, an opera about monkeys.”

After showing a small clip of the monkey opera, Republican Senator John Kennedy chimed in with his own list. “You left some out. I have seen the federal government for example give $530,000 to a group called Hookers for Jesus. I have seen the federal government spend $2.1 million for sex education for Ethiopian prostitutes. And I could continue with other examples of spending porn. And every time that Congress allows this to happen, it’s as if Congress is taking a Great Dane sized whiz down the leg of every taxpayer in America.”

As for how the government waste can be stopped, Sen. Kennedy noted, “A lot of the indifference and in some cases opposition came from Republicans, at least in the Senate. I can tell you that the vast majority of Senators, they talk a good game on fiscal responsibility, but it’s like going to heaven, everybody wants to go to heaven, nobody is quite ready to make the trip.”

Food Processing Plant Fires: Conspiracy Or Coincidence?

Article Image
 • https://www.zerohedge.com by QTR’s Fringe Fina

First, lets examine what seems odd. For weeks, social media users and bloggers have been throwing around the story that dozens of food processing facilities have mysteriously burned down over the last few months.

It’s a phenomenon that has even caught the attention of top rated cable TV news host Tucker Carlson, who spoke about it this week.

“This is the second time in a week something like this happened,” Carlson said about breaking news after a plane crashed into a food facility in Georgia.

“So industrial accidents happen, of course, but this is a lot of industrial accidents at food processing plants. At the same time the president is warning us of food shortages. They’re getting hit by planes and catching on fire. What is going on here?” Carlson asked.

Carlson’s guest, Jason Rantz opined: “It could lead to some serious food shortages. That’s why people are wondering, well, number one, what’s going on? And you’ve got people speculating that this might be an intentional way to disrupt the food supply. Police are saying that these fires are due to faulty issues with equipment, so they’re not saying this was intentional.”

But Carlson admitted there was little in the way of evidence of a conspiracy: “The onus is on people who think this is a conspiracy theory to explain what is going on, what are the odds of that. I have no idea.”

Republicans Vow To Fight Biden’s Unconstitutional ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ | American Lookout

Joe Biden’s new ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ is raising concern from lawmakers, some of whom are calling it unconstitutional.

It certainly seems un-American and it’s amazing that Democrats would do this after spending years calling Trump an authoritarian.

It’s especially alarming that the woman supposedly in charge of this is a left wing nut.

FOX News reports:

Free speech concerns mount over DHS ‘disinformation’ board as lawmakers, critics weigh in

Federal and state lawmakers, constitutional scholars and other experts are expressing concerns with the Department of Homeland Security’s new misinformation board, which they say is the Biden administration’s attempt to stifle free speech.

Mayorkas announced during testimony Wednesday before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security that DHS had created a Disinformation Governance Board to combat online disinformation.

“The goal is to bring the resources of (DHS) together to address this threat,” Mayorkas said during the hearing, adding that the department is focused on the spread of disinformation in minority communities ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., was quick to condemn this latest action by the Biden administration, promising to introduce legislation to defund the new disinformation board.

“The Federal Government has no business creating a Ministry of Truth. The Department of Homeland Security’s “Disinformation Board” is unconstitutional and unamerican, and I’ll be introducing a bill to defund it,” he tweeted Friday.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., similarly tweeted, “Nothing else we are working on will matter if we don’t put an end to the Biden’s Ministry of Truth.” And Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., stated, “I trust the common sense of the American people. A government arbiter of ‘truth’ department is a [red flag] for free thinking people.”

It’s like something out of a science fiction novel about a totalitarian government.

Republicans have to fight this and losing is not an option.

Local Carpenter Continues To Spread Disinformation Deemed Harmful By Religious Experts — The Babylon Bee

JERUSALEM—Religious experts have begun voicing concerns that a local carpenter’s disinformation is spreading among Israelites most susceptible to unapproved ideas.

“Visit your nearest synagogue for the latest information on how to obey God. Listen to the experts!” A contingent of authorities in Jewish law spoke out against the carpenter’s simple teaching about loving God and your neighbor. “Follow the data—we need tithes, loopholes, and ever-changing rules, not repentant hearts!”

The usually divided Pharisees, Sadducees, and Scribes showed solidarity in fact-checking Jesus’s teaching. “We rate Jesus’s teaching as ‘Needs Context,’” said a spokesman for the group.

Eyewitnesses have confirmed that a group of Independent Fact Checkers followed the carpenter around holding large signs with disclaimers above his head: “SINCE YOUR SERMON INCLUDES INFORMATION ABOUT OBEYING GOD’S LAW, WE’VE ADDED DIRECTIONS TO THE NEAREST SYNAGOGUE.”

At publishing time, the religious experts were conspiring with the government to keep the dangerous disinformation from spreading into Judea, Samaria, or to the uttermost parts of the earth.

MAGA Arizona Candidate Kari Lake: Under My Plan We Will Shoot Down the Cartel Drones (VIDEO) — The Gateway Pundit

Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake joined Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures this morning.

Kari Lake discussed the continued historic crisis at the open border in southern Arizona. Kari says it is as bad today as it was when she traveled down to the border earlier this year.

President Trump endorsed Kari Lake at least twice and speaks highly of the Arizona newscaster turned MAGA gubernatorial candidate.

Kari Lake told Maria Bartiromo she will shoot down the cartel drones crossing the border to spy on border guards when she becomes governor.

Kari Lake: They’ve got drones, about 9,000 drones, that have come over and dropped off drugs, they’re surveilling our law enforcement. We should be shooting those down and under my plan we will.

Watch: The best and worst jokes from the jam-packed White House Correspondents’ Dinner – Biden needles Trump and DeSantis — Conservative Review

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner took place in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night. This was the first WHCD since 2020 because of the pandemic.

The packed indoor event at the Washington Hilton was hosted by “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah, and attended by journalists, politicos, and celebrities. President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden were also in attendance.

The WHCD began with a video of a pre-recorded skit with “Late Late Show” host James Corden filling in for White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

Corden is most concerned about President Biden’s opinion on the budding romance between Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson – who were in attendance at the WHCD. Psaki provides Corden with talking points for his White House press conference – such as “War with Russia: bad,” and “CDC: good.”

Biden then took the podium and addressed his dismal approval rating by giving “a special thanks to the 42% of you who actually applauded.” He then mocked journalists as the “only group of Americans with a lower approval rating than I have.”

Biden noted that the 2022 White House Correspondents’ Dinner was the first time a sitting U.S. president attended the event since 2016 because former President Donald Trump boycotted the WHCD during his presidency.

Biden then insinuated that the Trump presidency was a “plague.”

“This is the first time a president has attended this dinner in six years,” Biden said. “It’s understandable, we had a horrible plague followed by two years of COVID.”

The president then said that if Trump had attended the event, it would have been a “real coup” – a joke about the Jan. 6 riot, which Biden previously called an “armed insurrection” on a day that “democracy was attacked.”

Biden then quipped, “I’m not here to roast the GOP. That’s not my style. Besides, there’s nothing I can say about the GOP that Kevin McCarthy hasn’t already put on tape.”

The president acknowledged the anti-Biden slogan “Let’s go Brandon.”

“Republicans seem to support one fellow,” Biden said. “Some guy named Brandon. He’s having a really good year. And I’m kind of happy for him.”

Biden took aim at possible 2024 GOP presidential candidate and current Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over his handling of Disney’s fight against the Parental Rights in Education law.

While flubbing Ronald Regan’s iconic “tear down this wall” speech from 1987, Biden declared, “Ronald Reagan said, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear this wall down!’ Today’s Republicans say, ‘Tear down Mickey Mouse’s house!’ And pretty soon they’ll be storming Cinderella’s castle, and you can be sure of it.”

Trevor Noah began his monologue by calling out the hypocrisy of press members attending a packed indoor event.

“It is my great honor to be speaking tonight at the nation’s most distinguished superspreader event,” Noah stated. “For real, what are we doing here? Did none of you learn anything from the Gridiron dinner? Nothing?”

Noah is referencing the corporate media dinner held last month that even MSNBC labeled as a “superspreader event.” At least 72 people who attended the event tested positive for COVID-19, including Attorney General Merrick Garland and New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Noah lambasted the press, “Do you read any of your own newspapers? I mean, I expect this out of Sean Hannity, but the rest of you? What are you doing here?

The “Daily Show” host highlighted the media’s hypocrisy on COVID-19 precautions, “You guys spent the last two years telling everyone the importance of wearing masks and avoiding large indoor gatherings, then the second someone offers you a free dinner, you all turn into Joe Rogan.”

“I mean, Dr. Fauci dropped out,” the comedian continued. “That should have been a pretty big sign.”

“Fauci thought it was too dangerous to come tonight,” Noah stated, before adding, “Pete Davidson thought it was okay. And we all went with Pete. Okay. Alright then.”

Washington Post reporter Jada Yuan said the jam-packed room is “like a horror film.”

“Literally getting trapped between tables,” Yuan wrote on Twitter. “Fear of breathing near people but people are everywhere. Creeping sense that you’re the only one who know this is insane.”

Noah mocked the president for the historic inflation that is causing financial ruin for Americans – which garnered laughter from the audience and Biden.

“Ever since you’ve come into office things are really looking up,” Noah began. “Gas is up. Rent is up. Food is up. Everything.”

Noah needled former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and his cozy on-air relationship with his older brother – former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

“Some people think that this [dinner] shows that the media is too cozy with politicians, but what those people don’t understand is that you guys have integrity,” Noah said. “You would never allow personal connections to affect your ability to be good journalists — isn’t that right Chris Cuomo. Where is Chris Cuomo, by the way, is he here?”

The Comedy Central talk show host skewered Jen Psaki about joining MSNBC, “When Trump was in office, your show was all about how bad he was. And now Biden is in office, your show is about how bad Trump was.”

At #WHCD, Trevor Noah joked about Psacki joining MSNBC and actually took a mild shot at the left wing channel: \u201cWhen Trump was in office, your show was all about how bad he was. And now Biden is in office, your show is about how bad Trump was.\u201dpic.twitter.com/uestzYQanh

Yeah, I guess you should’ve voted for Bernie.”

To conclude the festivities, Noah took a parting shot at Biden’s tumultuous withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Kernels of MSM Truth Amid Russia-Bashing Propaganda Rubbish — The Stephen Lendman Blog

On all things Russia and Ukraine, it’s hard finding anything resembling truth and full disclosure from US/Western regimes and their MSM echo chamber.

Sticking to the fabricated official narrative is how they operate on virtually all major domestic and geopolitical issues — especially on all things related to flu/covid kill shots and invented US enemies like Russia.

Yet on Sunday amid its customary daily blitzkrieg of Russia-bashing fake news, the WSJ admitted that Ukrainian forces are hampered by “fuel shortages…following Russian missile strikes on oil refineries and storage depots in the country.”

The Journal quoted puppet Zelensky saying that Russia “destroy(ed)…fuel” storage facilities in the country and controls Ukrainian offshore waters.

The Journal omitted explaining that Russian strikes destroyed Ukrainian power generating substations, bridges and rail lines that prevent its trains from operating.

So they’re unable to resupply Ukrainian forces with weapons, munitions, equipment and everything else its military needs to operate.

Trucks when used are easy targets to spot and destroy, what Russia is able to do with precision accuracy.

Nor did the Journal or other MSM report anything about Russia’s elimination of Ukrainian warplanes, most of its drones, air defense systems, many weapons and munitions depots, its command and control capabilities, military bases and troop concentrations.

Nor anything about many thousands of Ukrainian forces killed and wounded, thousands more who surrendered or deserted units, or dismal morale throughout Ukraine’s military.

Or that Mariupol is entirely liberated from years of brutal Nazified occupation — save for about 2,000 fanatics and likeminded mercenaries holed up in the city’s Azovstal steel plant, along with unknown numbers of civilians held hostage as human shields.

The choice for these Nazi thugs is simple — surrender and live or refuse and die. Either way they’re doomed.

In a separate Russia-bashing report, the Journal virtually admitted that its forces control Ukraine’s Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions — that Russia’s control over “southern Ukraine harden(ed),” that its forces are decisively winning the battle of Ukraine in less than so many words admitting what’s indisputable reality.

The vast majority of MSM reports on what’s going on are infested with state-approved rubbish.

On Sunday, the NYT quoted puppet Zelensky — taking credit for evacuating dozens of civilians to safety by Russia, ones who’ve been held captive by Nazified Ukrainian thugs inside Mariupol’s Azovstal steel plant.

Zelensky lied claiming that the regime he nominally heads is working to evacuate more.

According to Tass, around 85 civilians were rescued from captivity inside Azovstal through humanitarian corridors established by Russian forces — from April 30 to May 1, including women and children.

Kiev had nothing to do with freeing them from captivity, just the opposite, wanting them held indefinitely as human shields.

What the Times should have reported, it suppressed.

Rubbish it featured was fake news — like virtually all its reports on Russia and Ukraine.

And this WaPo fake news on Sunday, falsely claiming that the latest Biden regime proposed military aid will satisfy Kiev’s “needs on the ground (sic).”

Omitted was explaining that when US/Western weapons cross from Poland into Ukraine, Russia targets and destroys them.

Former chief UNSCOM weapons inspector in Iraq during the 1990s, Scott Ritter, stressed what’s indisputable.

MSM coverage of all things Russia and Ukraine has been “hysterically one-sided and divorced from reality” on the ground.

Russian forces are steadily “defeat(ing) Kiev’s” military.

Despite billions of dollars worth of weapons, munitions and equipment supplied to Kiev since early 2014, Russia destroyed or captured most of it.

No matter how much more military aid the US/West tries delivering to Ukrainian forces, it’ll either be eliminated by Russia en route or shortly after arriving.

While the US/West may be winning the information war, reality on the ground in Ukraine is another matter entirely.

Russian forces are vastly superior to Ukrainian ones militarily and tactically.

Russia’s ability to capture Ukrainian territory the size of Britain in a few weeks alone proved its overwhelming superiority over an inferior adversary.

Russian forces control Ukrainian airspace and offshore waters.

While the body count of Ukrainian forces mounts by hundreds — killed, wounded and captured — daily, Russian troops press on to take and hold more of the country’s territory.

It’s just a matter of time before Donbass is fully liberated and Ukraine’s military is too badly defeated to continue the futility of going up against overpowering Russian superiority.

Fake news hyperbole by US/Western regimes and their MSM press agents is no match against indisputable reality on the ground.

While fighting continues for how much longer who knows, Russia decisively won the battle for Ukraine.

Truth-telling postmortems remain to explain what US/Western regimes and MSM suppressed from day-one of Russia’s SMO.

They’re coming ahead to set the historical record straight.

Americans warned: Police now authorized to track you via cell phone | WND

(Photo by John Arano on Unsplash)

Police across America now can track citizens through their cell phones – without a warrant – despite the Fourth Amendment’s ban on warrantless searches, according to a team of civil-rights lawyers at the Rutherford Institute.

That’s the result of the U.S. Supreme Court deciding not to intervene in a lower court decision that authorized exactly that.

The institute had filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the case Hammond v. U.S. that challenged the tracking of people through their cell phones as unconstitutional.

That tracking can tell police a person’s location with great precision, “whether that person is at home, at the library, a political event, a doctor’s office, etc.,” the organization reported.

“Americans are being swept up into a massive digital data dragnet that does not distinguish between those who are innocent of wrongdoing, suspects, or criminals. Cell phones have become de facto snitches, offering up a steady stream of digital location data on users’ movements and travels,” said constitutional attorney John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute.

“Added to that, police are tracking people’s movements by way of license plate toll readers; scouring social media posts; triangulating data from cellphone towers and WiFi signals; layering facial recognition software on top of that; and then cross-referencing footage with public social media posts, all in an effort to identify, track and eventually round us up. This is what it means to live in a suspect society,” he said.

The concerns over tracking developed as part of a federal and state law enforcement investigation into a series of armed robberies that took place in October 2017 in Michigan and Indiana.

There, an Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agent traced a firearm recovered from one of the robberies to a previous owner, who said he had sold it to Rex Hammond and gave them Hammond’s cell phone number.

“Without obtaining a search warrant, a local police detective then requested cell site location information (“CSLI”) from AT&T to geolocate Hammond’s cell phone using real-time pings to nearby cell towers about every fifteen minutes,” the institute reported. “The detective also obtained historical CSLI records indicating where Hammond had been over the course of three weeks.”

Then late one night, detectives found his car using a cell phone ping and started following him. They stopped him for speeding and arrested him, and he later was indicted on various charges and sentenced to 47 years in prison.

A district court denied Hammond’s motion to suppress the evidence against him, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals agreed.

At issue, his lawyers warned, was the authorization for police to use “real-time cell phone pinging” that “allows the state to surreptitiously track the movements of any individual with a cell phone (essentially all Americans) with a voyeuristic level of precision, and without ever leaving the precinct.”

WND reported when the institute joined the case that it warned, “Americans are being swept up into a massive digital data dragnet that does not distinguish between those who are innocent of wrongdoing, suspects, or criminals. ”

It warned technological advancements in cell phone providers’ ability to obtain data on their users’ whereabouts, especially as a result of cell site proliferation due to 5G networks, means that law enforcement can use “triangulation methods” to identify a person’s location, very specifically.
