The Immutability of God: The Attributes of God with Steven Lawson | Ligonier Ministries

The Word of God remains true in every generation because God Himself is the same from age to age. In stark contrast, as human beings we are always changing. We must depend on the Lord as the only sure anchor amid the turbulent seas of life. In this message, Steven Lawson explores the biblical view of God’s immutability, explaining that His ways and His Word never change.

This message is from Dr. Lawson’s 16-part teaching series The Attributes of God. Learn more: https://www.ligonier.org/learn/series/attributes-god

God Will Not Reject His People — Reformed Christian Studies

By Keith Kauffman – Posted at Place for Truth:

“I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means!” – Romans 11:1

The fear of rejection is perhaps one of the more influential considerations in our decision making. The choices we make, the conversations we choose to have or avoid, the way we spend our money; many times, these decisions are guided by our desire to avoid being rejected by others. The desire for a lasting acceptance seems an innate characteristic of humanity. If we are fortunate enough to somehow make it as part of the “in” group, the inner circle, we often take whatever steps we deem necessary to remain as such. To be numbered among the people of God is the best inner circle there could be, the most glorious collection of people there has ever been. To be a sinner saved by the grace of God alone through the atonement set forth in Christ is to be truly blessed, and so it begs the question: can one ever go from being part of the people of God to being separate from the people of God? There have been erroneous systems of Christianity throughout the centuries that have argued it is indeed possible to lose one’s salvation. A sacramental Roman Catholicism argues for the necessity of works to maintain one’s place within the family of God. An Arminian Protestantism denies the Reformed doctrine of eternal security. Both theological systems fly directly in the face of Scripture’s assertion that once numbered among the people of God, there is nothing that could ever remove you. Yet it begs one final question though: could God Himself remove you? Again, the Scriptures are clear: by no means!

Books have been written to prove this point from Scripture, so we’ll forego a lengthy discussion on proving this point. We’ll simply echo what Paul says in Romans 8: those whom God predestines, he also calls, justifies, and glorifies. Salvation is entirely of God from beginning to end. Or perhaps more poignantly, once we have been united to Christ by faith, we cannot be disunited, and our sins, both past and future, are covered by His blood. The Father sees us always in His Son, and He cannot reject His Son. Again, those systems that assert the possibility of losing one’s salvation fail to see the beauty and importance of a believer’s union with Christ. But the promise that God will not reject His people should have real effect within us. Here are 3 simple effects that this wonderful promise of God should have …

Why Truth Matters Now More Than Ever (Podcast) — Cold Case Christianity

Why is it so hard to discuss the truth of Christianity with non-believers? Is it becasue there isn’t any evidence for Christinaity, or becasue there has been a shift in the meaning of “truth”? In this interview with Bill Arnold from Faith Radio, J. Warner examines and defines the nature of truth.

For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. (Ezekiel 34:11)

This He does at the first when His elect are like wandering sheep that know not the Shepherd or the fold. How wonderfully doth the Lord find out His chosen! Jesus is great as a seeking Shepherd as well as a saving Shepherd. Though many of those His Father gave Him have gone as near to hell-gate as they well can, yet the Lord by searching and seeking discovers them and draws nigh to them in grace. He has sought out us: let us have good hope for those who are laid upon our hearts in prayer, for He will find them out also.

The Lord repeats this process when any of His flock stray from the pastures of truth and holiness. They may fall into gross error, sad sin, and grievous hardness; but yet the Lord, who has become a surety for them to His Father, will not suffer one of them to go so far as to perish. He will by providence and grace pursue them into foreign lands, into abodes of poverty, into dens of obscurity, into depths of despair; He will not lose one of all that the Father has given Him. It is a point of honor with Jesus to seek and to save all the flock, without a single exception. What a promise to plead, if at this hour I am compelled to cry, “I have gone astray like a lost sheep!”

Time — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

How often does our preoccupation with living make us forget that we are always in the presence of God?

We try and cram more and more into each of our days and often become so stressed and anxious that we don’t have enough time to fit everything in.  Sometimes it is the things that we put off doing until another day that tire us the most.  Yet it is in our everyday living that we should place God first as we continue with our work and our play.  How often do we become so caught up in the ‘everyday’ that we find we do not have enough time for God?

Our moods so often depend on how much time we have.  If we work all day and come home tired and stressed because we didn’t have time to finish all that was on our desk, or there was not enough time to finish the ironing or the gardening, or do the shopping; all these things affect the way we react to those around us.  We are often not happy in whatever we are doing.

I believe that happiness is not something for which we can search.  It is like a butterfly that is so elusive when we try to catch it, and yet when we don’t try, one may come to rest on our shoulder.  We can come to know true happiness only by living the life that the Lord would have us lead – by serving and showing unconditional love to others.  It is taking the time to slow down and listen to the still, small voice that gives us the patience and the courage to take each moment and know that we are surrounded by God’s grace.

Jesus tells us that

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”  John 10:10

Is our life full in the way that this passage reveals?

I think of time as the thief, and so if we make time for God, the rest of our lives will come into perspective.

Prayer:
Lord, slow us down so that we may hear your Holy Spirit speak to us and discover our heart’s true longings and therefore recover our energy and our purpose for living.  Amen.

Time — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

Time and Attention — Daily Devotionals by Thoughts about God

God doesn’t desire more of our time sometimes; He desires more of our attention all the time.

Ever feel frustrated because you hear messages about getting closer to God and you definitely desire this for yourself, but you are inundated with so much to do already that this only makes you feel guilty because you are too busy for God? I think we all feel this at one time or another, but carving more time out of your busy schedule to be with God isn’t necessarily the only answer to this question. Look at the following scriptures:

I have set the Lord always before me.” (Psalm 16:8 NIV)

My eyes are ever on the Lord.” (Psalms 25:15 NIV)

I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.” (Psalm 34:1 NIV)

Reading these words makes you wonder if these are the words of a monk who had nothing else to do but devote himself to God. Actually, they are the words of David, King of Israel, a great ruler and warrior. How did he manage to run a nation at war, and keep his eyes on the Lord at all times? The only conclusion is that he did this while he did everything else. It’s a continual awareness of God that we are talking about here, not necessarily more time devoted to spiritual pursuits.

I once saw a sign that read: “Your God is what you pay attention to.” You see, I believe you can pay attention to God while you are doing everything else. It’s all about doing everything for God and seeing God in everything we do. It’s about bringing God into the boardroom, the exercise room, the living room, the bedroom. Now of course He’s already in all these places but we’re talking about being aware of His being there at all times. That’s what it means to set the Lord always before us.

Worship is a frame of mind that always has God in the picture. We don’t need church, or Bible study, or devotions to remind us about the Lord if we’re already aware of Him all the time. These opportunities then become more precious to us because we can devote all our attention to that which we have been doing all along.

How Can You Watch For A Day And Hour That No One Knows?
The subject of Bible prophecy continues to be a hotly debated subject within the church. Some see it as already fulfilled, others as allegorical lessons. But the most accurate way to approach the study of Bible prophecy is to see it as “history in advance”. What we also need to understand is that Bible prophecy is not predictions; it is as sure as the past as far as it being fulfilled.

Are You Vexed By Our Lawless And Self-Destructive Society?
So, how can anyone who has been made righteous in Jesus, experience torment? 2 Peter 2:8 speaks of Lot and the people of Sodom. It says that living there, Lot “felt his righteous soul tormented day after day with their lawless deeds.” The King James Version says the corruption in Sodom “vexed his righteous soul.” The Living Bible says Lot was “sick of the terrible wickedness he saw everywhere around him.” In our day, it’s easy to understand.

A Biblical Look at the Judiciary Debate
For most of us, without the ability to vote in the Knesset or sit on the Supreme Court, let’s not attempt to dictate how judges should be appointed, the apparent root of the current dispute, but instead focus on the qualifications of a judge as given in the Bible. Judges were historically a part of Israel’s governmental leadership in the scriptures. Most obviously, we all can read from the Bible book named “Judges” in English and “Shoftim” in Hebrew. Shoftim (שופטים) were specially appointed leaders of God’s people with special qualifications and important responsibilities.

Was Covid made in a Lab?
The story that the coronavirus was made in a laboratory in China (funded by America) is back in the news. It’s a distraction – designed to make everyone forget that we are seconds away from a nuclear war. It’s a trick to blame China (the American Government is trying to force China into becoming an active enemy and a participant in World War III). And it’s a scheme to make covid-19 seem more deadly than it was. The simple truth is that there was no pandemic.

FEATURED ANALYSIS

DeSantis Comes Out Against Russian Proxy War

Yesterday’s drone incident over the Black Sea reinvigorated an important discussion about our nation’s Ukraine policy.

Douglas Andrews

Looks like our $200 billion proxy war with Russia just got a little more expensive.

Yesterday’s attack and ultimate downing by Russia of an unarmed $32 million U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Black Sea once again raises questions about the wisdom of our involvement in an admittedly awful border war between Ukraine and Russia.

The knock-down incident occurred in international airspace over international waters when one of two Su-27s flying in tandem collided with our drone, damaging its propeller and forcing it to ditch into the Black Sea, west of Crimea.

As Fox News reports, “The State Department is summoning Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov to express its ‘strong objections’ to the intercept, spokesman Ned Price confirmed to reporters.”

In response, U.S. European Command and U.S. Air Forces in Europe issued a statement that reads in part: “Several times before the collision, the Su-27s dumped fuel on and flew in front of the MQ-9 in a reckless, environmentally unsound and unprofessional manner. This incident demonstrates a lack of competence in addition to being unsafe and unprofessional.”

Ooooh. They kill one of our drones, so we scold them for being “unprofessional” and “environmentally unsound.” (If there’s one thing that wounds the Russians deeply, it’s calling into question their environmental soundness.)

And so, once again, Joe Biden’s weakness proves provocative. Instead of a sternly worded memo, Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, whom even NPR conceded was the toughest U.S. president ever when it came to Russia, would’ve probably greased some Russian mercs somewhere. Elections have consequences.

What do the Russians say about this incident, which appears to be the most direct attack against a NATO aircraft since the end of the Cold War? Predictably, they say our drone was traveling toward Russia with its transponders off, and they say our drone ditched following the intercept.

Ambassador Antonov wasn’t exactly apologetic. “We assume that the U.S. will refrain from further speculation in the media and stop flights near Russian borders,” he said. “We consider any action with the use of U.S. as openly hostile.”

Translation: Pound sand, Joey.

All this brings us to Tucker Carlson, who, in a simple act of journalism that somehow never dawned on any other journalist anywhere, recently polled the likely and announced Republican presidential candidates about the matter that, next to combating Communist China, is the most important foreign policy issue currently facing our nation: namely, our ill-defined, blank-check support of Ukraine in the above-mentioned proxy war with Russia.

Donald Trump was always there, always against it, and his response to Carlson’s questions were unequivocal:

Like inflation and numerous other self inflicted wounds and mistakes made over the past two years, Russia would definitely not have raided and attacked Ukraine if I was your President. In fact, for four years they didn’t attack, nor did they have any intention of doing so as long as I was in charge. But the sad fact is that, due to a new lack of respect for the U.S., caused at least partially by our incompetently handled pullout from Afghanistan … the bloody and expensive assault began, and continues to this day. That is all history, but how does it end, and it must end, NOW! Start by telling Europe that they must pay at least equal to what the U.S. is paying to help Ukraine. They must also pay us, retroactively, the difference.

Now Ron DeSantis has joined Trump (and this analyst), firmly in the non-interventionist camp of the conservative populists. He began:

While the U.S. has many vital national interests — securing our borders, addressing the crisis of readiness within our military, achieving energy security and independence, and checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party — becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them. The Biden administration’s virtual “blank check” funding of this conflict for “as long as it takes,” without any defined objectives or accountability, distracts from our country’s most pressing challenges.

DeSantis continued, saying that F-16s and long-range missiles should be “off the table” and that Biden risks “explicitly drawing the United States into the conflict and drawing us closer to a hot war between the world’s two largest nuclear powers.” He rightly calls that risk “unacceptable.”

DeSantis further notes that Biden’s policies “have driven Russia into a de facto alliance with China” and have “further empowered Russia’s energy-dominated economy and Putin’s war machine at Americans’ expense.”

Some pro-war Republicans have attacked DeSantis for his stance, but, as columnist Byron York notes, his position on Ukraine puts him “in the mainstream.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence, incidentally, also responded to Carlson’s questions, and his pro-war, stay-the-course position tends to align with that of our Mark Alexander and presidential candidate Nikki Haley.

“Our movement,” said Pence, “cannot forsake the foundational commitment that we have to security, to limited government, to liberty, and to life. But nor can we allow our movement to be led astray by the siren song of unprincipled populism that’s unmoored from our oldest traditions and most cherished values,” he told an audience at The Heritage Foundation. “Let me say: This movement and the party that it animates must remain the movement of a strong national defense, limited government, and traditional moral values and life.”

Pence added: “There can be no room in the conservative movement for apologists to Putin. There is only room in this movement for champions of freedom.”

Not all the candidates responded, but those who did provided some important insights into their foreign policy philosophies. You can read more on Carlson’s Twitter account.

Biden’s Shotgun Approach to Executive Orders

His latest order on guns will do nothing to stop crime, all while trampling on the Constitution.

Nate Jackson

Inflation is still 6% (10.2% for groceries), employers are still understaffed, banks are still too big to fail, migrants are still flooding across the border, and fentanyl is still killing roughly 200 people per day. But Joe Biden’s got a fever, and the only prescription is more gun control.

He issued an executive order Tuesday that he says ostensibly “helps keep firearms out of dangerous hands” by directing Attorney General Merrick Garland “to take every lawful action possib— burp — possible to move us as close as we can to universal background checks without new legislation.” He also says his order “expands public awareness campaigns” about so-called red flag laws.

Don’t get us wrong — we’re not advocating for violent criminals to legally buy firearms. But most of them already don’t do so legally, and making it more illegal isn’t going to change that. Assault and murder, by the way, remain illegal in all 50 states. The particular gun used in the Monterey Park murders was also already banned in California. Perhaps all those George Soros-funded Democrat DAs in Democrat-run cities should try enforcing the law by prosecuting criminals.

As for red flag laws, no one wants to arm a dangerous man intent upon harm, but pre-crime measures tend to involve violating a person’s Fourth Amendment due process rights on the way to restricting his Second Amendment rights.

To add to the theater of it all, Biden traveled to Monterey Park, California, near the location of a recent mass murder. Democrats always seem to use the caskets of innocents as a platform for their anti-Second Amendment agenda. Biden, who has known great personal loss, gave remarks tugging at people’s heartstrings in a way few can. From devastating personal experience, he does know how to talk about grief.

Yet that grief doesn’t make his policy the right course, either from the standpoint of effectiveness or of American Liberty.

It also doesn’t mean he’s done. It could be argued that he’s chipping around the edges with this order, but he made clear he wants more. A lot more.

“None of this absolves Congress,” he said, “from the responsibility of acting to pass universal background checks [and] eliminate gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability. And I am determined once again to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.” He added: “Do something. Do something big.”

It’s odd to speak of manufacturer liability just days after bailing out a couple of big banks. In fact, one could be forgiven for thinking this gun order is a distraction from that news. It also happens to be false to claim, as he did once again, that the gun industry is “the only outfit you can’t sue these days.”

On a related note, what of Biden’s liability, along with Barack Obama’s, for running illegal guns to Mexican drug cartels during the Obama administration’s Operation Fast and Furious?

It’s also bizarre to continue railing against semiautomatic rifles with certain cosmetic features, but Biden is obsessed with doing so. “Assault weapons” is a gross misnomer for these firearms, which function the same as the vast majority of other guns, firing a single bullet with each trigger pull. The FBI’s annual report on murders doesn’t separate AR-15s from other rifles (which ought to tell you a lot, by the way), and the total murder count for all rifles in 2020 was 455. Remember that deaths due to fentanyl average roughly 200 per day and that fentanyl is largely smuggled across Joe Biden’s open border. Remember that most crimes with firearms are committed by thugs in Democrat-run urban centers — thugs who have a 50% chance of getting away with it. Remember that most gun deaths are suicides.

Again, don’t get us wrong — we’re not minimizing a single one of those deaths, but we do need perspective when the president of the United States demands that we outlaw legal firearms in common use protected by the Second Amendment. We need that perspective when the same guy who claims “democracy was threatened” within an inch of its life on January 6 also repeatedly threatens the American people that they’re going to need a whole lot more than AR-15s to take on the federal government.

We don’t know about you, but his histrionic threats don’t make us trust him and the federal government to have guns while we go without.

Executive News Summary

Moody’s warns about banks, school punished for upholding dignity of women’s sports, and more.

Thomas Gallatin & Jordan Candler

Cross-Examination

  • Dems target banks/Moody’s warns about banks: Seeking to seize the moment of the Silicon Valley Bank collapse as an excuse to expand the federal government’s power, Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren along with several of her Democrat colleagues have targeted the Trump-era legislation that raised the “too big to fail” threshold regulations on banks. Warren claims the bipartisan legislation effectively caused SVB’s collapse and called for its repeal. Warren is once again engaged in a classic example of that political game of asserting correlation as causation. As Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen (NH), who voted for the Trump-era bill, observed: “We need to complete the investigation of what actually happened at Silicon Valley Bank. All the regulation in the world isn’t going to fix bad management practices, and it appears that that’s one of the problems at SVB.” Meanwhile, speaking of bad management practices, Moody’s Investors Service just downgraded the entire U.S. banking sector from “stable” to “negative,” and it issued warnings against six specific banks it has placed on review.
  • Don’t let noncitizens vote: The Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) filed a lawsuit against Washington, DC’s new law that gives non-U.S. citizens the right to vote in city elections. DC passed the measure last October, and this week it goes into effect after Congress failed to overturn it. The IRIL argues that the law “automatically dilutes the votes of U.S. citizens on a massive scale,” violates the “fundamental constitutional right to vote of the plaintiffs,” and voids their “equal protection of the law.” The law enfranchises roughly 42,000 noncitizens, including foreign diplomats, allowing them to vote in DC elections. This means that Chinese and Russian diplomats would be allowed to vote in our nation’s capital elections. Talk about a Trojan Horse.
  • School punished for upholding dignity of women’s sports: A Christian school in Vermont has been punished by the state for holding to biblical values and standards after the school’s girl’s basketball team refused to play in a tournament game against an opposing school that fielded a team with a “transgender” male player. The Vermont Principals’ Association has now ruled that Mid Vermont Christian School violated the state’s anti-discrimination policy and therefore will be barred from competing in future VPA tournaments. The school plans to appeal the ban, contending, “Cancelling our membership is not a solution and does nothing to deal with the very real issue of safety and fairness facing women’s sports in our beloved state.” It’s going to take more brave people like those at MVCS standing up against the “transgender” lobby in order to stop this culturally destructive ideology.
  • Meta lays off another 10K: Meta, the parent company of social media giant Facebook, just announced another round of layoffs. Last November, Meta laid off 11,000 employees, while this latest round will be another 10,000. CEO Mark Zuckerberg cited the need to improve “financial performance in a difficult environment,” adding, “This will be tough and there’s no way around that.” This will drop Facebook’s total number of employees to roughly 65,000, down from its all-time high just a year ago of 86,000. Facebook is also closing down some 5,000 job openings that it had failed to fill. Ironically, it appears that Zuckerberg’s ill-conceived “metaverse” is shrinking the size of the social media giant.
  • Newark scammed by fake country: Here’s a story for those social studies students who complained about having to take a geography quiz because they would never need such “time wasting” information. Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Ras Baraka was recently humiliated after, as CBS News put it, he invited “what he thought was the Hindu nation of Kailasa to Newark’s city hall for a cultural trade agreement.” The problem is, Kailasa doesn’t exist. It is a fake nation creation by hoaxers. We’re betting Baraka, who was an educator in the city’s public school system before becoming mayor, wishes he had spent more time looking at a world map.
  • Francis celebrates decade as pontiff: The Roman Catholic Church’s current pontiff recently celebrated a decade serving as the pope. Pope Francis’s tenure has been marked by his willingness to push the church’s doctrinal boundaries, which he seemed to recognize with an observation regarding the anniversary on the Vatican’s “popecast”: “These 10 years have been like this: living in tension.” Much of that tension is likely tied to comments Francis has made specifically regarding human sexuality, though he noted in the popecast that “gender ideology, today, is one of the most dangerous ideological colonizations.” What makes Francis difficult to pin down is that he appears to at times take both sides of opposing arguments. For example, Francis has said: “There is no contradiction for a priest to marry. Celibacy in the western Church is a temporary prescription.” On the other hand, Francis has also stated: “Personally, I think that celibacy is a gift to the Church. I would say that I do not agree with allowing optional celibacy, no.” The question is, how much of this “living in tension” is intentional?

Hate Crimes Rise Under President Unity

The American undercurrent of cultural unrest is confirmed.

Emmy Griffin

Hate crimes are apparently on the rise in the United States of America. As critical race theorists, radical gender theorists, and other leftist ideologues are protected and promoted by the current administration and every other bastion of power in America, the cultural clash against religion, ethnicities, and other differences is more prevalent.

The FBI just released new statistics. In 2020, the number of reported hate crimes across the country was 8,052. In 2021, that number rose to 10,840. For clarity’s sake, the FBI defines hate crimes as targeted attacks against individuals or groups who have a different religion, race/ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

According to NBC News: “[An FBI] official said the top five hate crimes in 2021 were motivated by feelings against African Americans, whites, gay men, Jews and Asian Americans. The incidents were as varied as intimidation and assault to rape and murder.”

African-Americans and whites were the top two victims of hate crimes in terms of raw numbers. Proportionately, African-Americans and Asian American were more likely to be victims of hate crimes.

It’s also worth noting that even though homosexual men ranked number three in terms of raw numbers, the instances of hate crimes against them have actually decreased over the past five years.

The greatest number of hate crimes reported, 30%, were instances of intimidation; 23% were simple assault; 19.5% were property damage/vandalism; and 12% were aggravated assault.

What the data doesn’t tell us is how many of these hate crimes were self-inflicted (i.e. hoaxes) or whether there were other extenuating circumstances. Because it is a generalization by category, it’s also not clear if the instances of intimidation were simply because a person felt threatened or because they were actually threatened. For instance, did a hate crime get counted simply because a person used incorrect pronouns and that “victim” felt intimidated as a result? This is said not to make light of actual victims of intimidation but to indicate the intrinsic vagaries of this information as it was provided and perhaps to make a greater point about overall intersectional political bias.

As columnist Gary Bauer points out, Federal Circuit Court Judge Kyle Duncan was attacked, intimidated, and shouted down at Stanford Law School for being white and conservative. Isn’t that technically a hate crime? Or how about the antifa attack in Atlanta against the new police training facility? Or the overzealous surveillance and fining of churches in California?

However, according to today’s standard of racism and hate crimes, the horribly tragic death of Tyre Nichols (black) at the hands of police (also black) is considered a hate crime. Why? Because of the woke ideology of critical race theory, which states that the institution of law enforcement is systemically racist.

There is an argument to be made that the numbers in these hate crime statistics aren’t giving us the whole picture. The rhetoric promoted by and coming from Team Biden excoriates conservatives, allows targeting against Christians, and even seeks to promote Marxist-based ideologies such as critical race theory, radical gender theory, and anti-religious secular relativism.

Hate crimes and their qualifiers are becoming more subjective and political than reality-based and truthful. This state of affairs hurts everyone.

Stanford Law Students Heckle Federal Judge

After being invited to speak there, the federal appeals court judge was shouted down by students and lectured by the school’s diversity officer.

Douglas Andrews

Judge Kyle Duncan, a Trump appointee who was invited to speak at Stanford University Law School by the school’s Federalist Society chapter, was shouted down by student protesters last Thursday. Take a moment to appreciate that: Future lawyers and judges berated a current judge.

Given that Duncan is a Fifth Circuit appellate judge, and given that the Fifth Circuit is headquartered in New Orleans, he probably had to travel a considerable distance to be treated so rudely on a campus with free speech policies. He said the protesters behaved like “dog sh*t.”

But it wasn’t just the more than 100 future jurists who were verbally abusing Duncan; the Stanford staff weighed in as well. They were led by Tirien Steinbach, the school’s associate dean of diversity, equity, and inclusion, who arrived on the scene when Duncan asked for an administrator to restore order. She didn’t restore order, of course, and even went on to join the unruly students.

Steinbach stood up and gave a minutes-long lecture to Judge Duncan about the “harm” he’d caused on the Court of Appeals. As The Washington Free Beacon notes, “The students were particularly angry at Duncan for a 2020 opinion in which he refused to use a transgender sex offender’s preferred pronouns.”

At one point, as the judge tried to speak, one student voice rose above the racket to say, “Your racism is showing.”

Steinbach then took over: “Your opinions from the bench land as absolute disenfranchisement” of the students’ rights, she said, accusing him of “tearing the fabric of this community.”

She continued: “And again I still ask, ‘Is the juice worth the squeeze?’ I mean, is it worth the pain that this causes, and the division that this causes? Do you have something so incredibly important to say about Twitter and guns and COVID that is worth this impact and the division. … When I say, ‘Is the juice worth the squeeze?’ that’s what I’m asking. Is this worth it?”

As for the disruption, Steinbach concluded: “I’m really grateful to be in this institution. I look out and I don’t ask, ‘What is going on here?’ I look out and I say, ‘I’m glad this is going on here.’”

A roar of approval erupted, then another representative of the law school stood up and said, “I want to ask that half the folks walk out in protest, and the rest of us, let’s turn down the heckling slightly, so he can get to our questions.”

As for those “questions,” some of which are captured in the above-linked Free Beacon article, some of them were unrelated to law and unable to be printed due to their obscenity. Ultimately, it became impossible for Duncan to deliver his remarks, and the event became so unruly that federal marshals had to escort him from the building.

In a follow-up article, the Free Beacon reports, “Hundreds of Stanford student activists on Monday lined the hallways to protest the law school’s dean, Jenny Martinez, for apologizing to [Judge Duncan].”

“The vast majority of Dean Martinez’s con law students joined the protest against her,” writes Power Line’s Scott Johnson. “They deserve suspension, expulsion, or a failing grade in con law, although I seriously doubt that Dean Martinez sees it that way. However, the student may deserve high marks for drama. We appear to be entering Abu Ghraib territory in protest theater.”

Profiles of Valor: Brian Shul

“Please God, I can’t do this anymore. Let’s end it.”

Mark Alexander

There are a couple of signed military aviation books on my study shelf that I treasure above others. One of those would be Sled Driver by Brian Shul (unfortunately now out of print). That book and hundreds of other historic texts not only provide valuable research resources but great inspiration on what it really means “to support and defend” American Liberty.

Some of you may recognize Shul’s name because of a viral post, “LA Speed Check,” a short story about punking a Navy F/A-18 Hornet pilot one day when Brian and his back-seater were flying “Aspen 20,” a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, at 2,000 knots. Every military and civilian pilot can appreciate that story.

But what few know is what Major Brian Shul (USAF, Ret.) endured before qualifying to fly the fastest reconnaissance jet in history. He almost burned to death after his T-28 Trojan was shot down over Vietnam in 1973 — his 211th combat mission, this one providing close air support for the CIA’s Air America operations. He expected to die that day on enemy ground, recalling: “[I was] completely blind, as my helmet visor had melted. I did everything by feel.” But miraculously, a day after he was downed, Air Force Special Operations Command Pararescue teams located him for rescue and then air-evacuated him first to Thailand and then to Okinawa.

Shul says today: “Don’t confuse me with anyone famous, important, or heroic. What I am is the luckiest man you’ll ever see.”

After hanging on for two months, nobody expecting him to survive, he was transferred to the Institute of Surgical Research at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where he underwent 15 major operations over the next year. At one point enduring agonizing and constant pain, he recalls wanting to give up: “I quit, and I wanted to die. Please God, I can’t do this anymore. Let’s end it.”

But then, he says: “My turning point was a simple thing. I could hear [children on a playground] laughing, and I thought about how I used to be one of those kids. And at that moment, I heard Judy Garland come on the radio.” It was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Praying his way through recovery and fighting to get back on his feet again, he was told he would never fly — but he would have none of that. Two days after his release, despite burn scars over most of his body, by the grace of God Shul passed a flight physical and, amazingly, was selected to be part of the first operational A-10 squadron, later becoming an A-10 instructor pilot.

Shooting high, Shul put in to become an SR-71 pilot, which required an astronaut-level physical just to qualify. He made it.

Speaking in third person about a mission he flew out of Okinawa, where he had been hospitalized a decade earlier, he says: “Remember that one day, an SR-71 took to the runway at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa. That long, black nose swung out, waiting for its exact take off time. And the jet’s pilot that day could look out a little side window on a 15-degree heading for 2.1 miles. He could see the roof of the hospital he laid in a lifetime ago. And legend has it that during take off that day, the SR-71 did not climb out over the South China Sea to tanker. Instead, it made a hard left turn at the end of the runway, full burner, 300 feet (some say much lower) to buzz over a certain soccer field… Rattling every window in a certain hospital without breaking one, that jet turned back to the course, now that the entire base was alerted. And at that moment, the pilot knew what Einstein meant when he said, ‘Imagination is far more important than knowledge.’”

After 20 years and 5,000 hours in Air Force jets, Brian retired in 1990. I invite you to link here and listen to his personal account about his amazing journey.

SHORT CUTS

For the Record

“The fall of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) is quite a morality tale. It was one of the wokest banks in America. It worshipped at the altar of the left-wing worldview. … Last year, the bank made a $5 billion commitment to ‘support a healthier planet,’ while running an unhealthy bank. And over the past few weeks, the bank’s CEO managed to sell $3.6 million worth of shares before it went bankrupt. Just hours before government regulators seized control of the bank, some employees received $12,000 bonuses, while managers got $140,000 bonuses for their ‘great work.’ By the way, $140,000 is the annual salary for three families living in East Palestine, Ohio. And notice the speed with which the Biden Administration reacted to the SVB crisis. The people of East Palestine have had to beg for help, but not the leftists in Silicon Valley.” —Gary Bauer

“Joe Biden is bailing out his too-big-to-fail wealthy investor friends in Big Tech and Big Climate. If you understand that, you get the big picture with his rescue of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Signature Bank in recent days. Big Tech firms not only give Democrats an awful lot of money, but they stand as the Praetorian Guard for the flow of information.” —Nate Jackson

“Beginning in the second half of the 20th century, people in nearly every white-collar profession ceased finding their work inherently meaningful. So, they sought to use their profession to change the world. … That’s why the people running the Silicon Valley Bank were more interested in LGBTQ activism than in making money for its investors and protecting the money of its depositors. The former is way more meaningful.” —Dennis Prager

Political Futures

“The Biden administration has authorized a major oil drilling project in northern Alaska, and environmental groups aren’t happy about it. They say the president isn’t living up to his campaign promises and his climate commitments. It’s unlikely, though, that Biden has simply decided to stick it to his party’s ‘green’ wing. Instead, he may sense a bipartisan win with an election year looming, especially given his abysmal record on energy.” —Douglas Andrews

Dezinformatsiya

“MSNBC has a very high standard of what is factual. You have to go through a process before you report things on air to make sure they are factual and you have sources.” —former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki

Non Compos Mentis

“For those of you that didn’t notice, Florida was doing great long before Ron DeSanctus got there. … Sunshine and ocean are very alluring. It’s no too hard to work with those factors.” —Donald Trump

“[Biden] is absolutely a magnificent leader. He is younger than I am … so I don’t know what the problem is.” —Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi

Hot Air

“You can’t just go after China with a cudgel. You have to say: ‘We have to live on this planet together. How can we work together to save the planet from climate change?’” —Nancy Pelosi

“Mother Nature let her wrath be seen over the last two years. … If we don’t keep the temperature from going above 1.5 degrees Celsius, raised, then we’re in real trouble. That whole generation [18- to 35-year-olds] is damned. I mean, that’s not hyperbole.” —Joe Biden

“We can do solar, we can do wind cheaper than we can do fossil fuels.” —Joe Biden

The BIG Lies

“We’ve made strong economic progress in the past two years.” —Joe Biden (“When Biden took office, inflation was at 1.4% and gas was $2.39/gal. Today, inflation is at 6.[0]% and gas is $3.47/gal.” —RNC)

“I can remember exactly when my epiphany [on supporting same-sex marriage] was. … I was a senior in high school. And my dad was dropping me off and [I] remember [I was] about to get out of the car and I looked to my right and two well-dressed men in suits kissed each other.” —Joe Biden (“He had that epiphany in high school and then voted for the Defense of Marriage Act a few decades later.” —Greg Price)

Zeitgeist

“What’s going on in Florida is, as my mother would say, close to sinful. I mean, it’s just terrible what they’re doing. It’s not like, you know, a kid wakes up one morning and says, ‘You know, I decided I want to become a man’ or ‘I want to become a woman’ or ‘I want to change.’ … We make sure we pass legislation like we passed on same-sex marriage. You mess with that, you’re breaking the law, and you’re going to be held accountable.” —Joe Biden

And Last…

“On the most recent International Women’s Day, the ‘progress’ of women in America was on full display as we watched First Lady Jill Biden present the Woman of Courage award to a biological male. Perhaps by next year we’ll be celebrating International Dress-Wearers Day or International Estrogen-Containers Day. I can’t wait.” —Samantha Koch

ChatGPT- an AI program you can have a conversation with- has quickly gained tens of millions of users, and it’s often very helpful – but analysts have pointed out it doesn’t always give true answers, while critics say it can be biased against conservatives and belief in God; major winter storm hits parts of the Northeast with heavy snow, while on the West Coast, parts of California are drenched with still more rain; can the Federal Reserve keep raising interest rates to fight inflation – which could cause more problems for the banking system?; CBN’s Studio 5 looks at a live-action stage show called “The Thorn,” about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, which was recently a movie event – and there are plans to make it available to a wider audience; and a Louisiana revival which was planned for four days has now stretched out to three weeks, and one of those involved says the Asbury University revival played a role in helping it grow.

Rough Time for Fake News: Trust in Media in the Sewer – Majority of Americans Now Believe Media Intends to “Mislead, Misinform or Persuade the Public” — The Gateway Pundit

It’s a rough time for fake news.
Trust in the media is in the sewer.

a new study has found.

In a survey of 5,593 adults, Gallup and the Knight Foundation — which have been publishing reports on trust in news media since 2017 — found only 26% of Americans view news media favorably overall. A full 50% of respondents disagreed with the statement that most national news orgs “do not intend to mislead, misinform, or persuade the public.”

Americans lead the international outcry against fake news.

The US ranks DEAD LAST among 46 countries in a recent study on trust in media.

The US ranks dead last in trust in media. Americans are wising up to the fake news movement in America today.
Poynter reported:

The United States ranks last in media trust — at 29% — among 92,000 news consumers surveyed in 46 countries, a report released Wednesday found. That’s worse than Poland, worse than the Philippines, worse than Peru. (Finland leads at 65%.)

The annual digital news report from the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford also found some improvement in trust in nearly all the countries surveyed — probably thanks to COVID-19 coverage — but not in the U.S. where the low rating was flat year to year.

One explanation, though not necessarily the only one, is the extreme political polarization in the U.S. This study, like many others, found extremely high levels of distrust — 75% of those who identify as being on the right thought coverage of their views is unfair.

Local news, both print and broadcast, fared better than national news. However, the findings for struggling local print outlets were not all good.

Interest in local news and willingness to pay for it was not strong. Only 21% in the U.S. said that they pay for news online. Of those who do, 31% said they pay for The New York Times, 24% for The Washington Post and only 23% for the site of a local or regional paper.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.: Fauci Has Been in Charge of Developing Bioweapons for Pentagon Since 2002 (VIDEO) — The Gateway Pundit

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. joined talk show host Jimmy Dore recently to discuss the US involvement with bioweapons programs, Dr. Fauci’s funding of coronavirus gain-of-function research and the Anthrax scare in 2001.

TGP’s Anthony Scott reported earlier on the Amerithrax attacks and the alleged CIA involvement in the bioweapons attack.   Robert Kennedy, Jr. insists the CIA was involved in the attack.

Robert Kennedy then spoke about the bioweapons accident in the US in 2014 that resulted in a federal ban on gain-of-function research in the United States.

Robert Kennedy, J.: “They took the money that Cheney gave them [from the Patriot Act], $2.2 billion, and they funneled it through NIH, and it all went through Anthony Fauci. So beginning in 2002, Anthony Fauci got a 68% raise from the Pentagon for doing bioweapons development, and he got a raise of billions of dollars a year, and then he started doing all of this gain-of-function.

In 2014, three of those bugs escaped in high-profile escapes from different labs in the US. Congress held hearings on it. Everybody was angry, and 300 top scientists sent letters to Obama saying you got to shut down Fauci because he is going to create a pandemic.

So, Obama ordered a moratorium, and at that time, Fauci had eighteen different gain-of-function experiments he was doing around the US. He instead moved his stuff offshore to Wuhan, where he could do it out of sight of these 300 scientists and nosy White House officials who were trying to shut him down.

And he continued to do it with the same people he was funding here, Ralph Baric and Peter Dazak, and they moved their operation to the Wuhan lab.”

Back in April 2020 The Gateway Pundit reported that Chinese Doctor Shi Zhengli was part of a team working on a coronavirus project jointly with US doctors in 2014 before it was shut down by the DHS for being too risky.
After the US research project was shut down, Dr. Shi continued her coronavirus research in Wuhan, China.

Doctor Shi Zhengli from China was part of a team, including Doctor Ralph S. Baric from North Carolina, that published an article in a 2015 edition of Nature Medicine.

In the article they discussed bat coronaviruses that showed potential for human emergence. The article was published in 2015.

This report was published shortly after their project was defunded by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The HHS in 2014 sent a letter to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where they announced they were going to defund the program.

Dr. Ralph S. Baric was identified in the letter.

After the work stopped in the US, the Chinese moved forward with the project and ran research and development in Wuhan at the Wuhan Virology Center. From Shi Zhengli’s papers and resume, it is clear that they successfully isolated the coronavirus in the lab and were actively experimenting with species-to-species transmission.

It’s also important to note that back in 2017 we had solid intelligence about a viral leak in a high-security Chinese virology R&D center that resulted in the SARS virus getting out and killing people.

This information provides a basis that contradicts the theory that COVID-19 is a variant that just magically mutated in a bat in the wild and then jumped to a human when they ate a delicious bowl of bat soup.

We then reported that the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, Hubei Province in China was hiring individuals for an ecological study of bat migration and virus transmission in November of 2019.

We now know from Dr. Shi’s resume and papers that she was still working on the coronavirus at that time.

The leader of the US task force overseeing the country’s response to the China coronavirus, Dr. Tony Fauci, was the one who funded the Wuhan bat virus work and kept it going.

If these research projects were banned in the US was it legal and appropriate for Dr. Fauci and NIAID to use taxpayer dollars to continue to fund the research in Wuhan, China?

Was Dr. Fauci ever going to explain his conflict of interest?

Did Dr. Fauci skirt US law to fund these dangerous projects in China?

Should the man in charge of the flawed US policy to treat and contain the China virus be trusted when he has not been upfront with his connections to the Wuhan research projects?

The Times of Israel reported:

Back in October 2014, the US government had placed a federal moratorium on gain-of-function (GOF) research—altering natural pathogens to make them more deadly and infectious–as a result of rising fears about a possible pandemic caused by accidental or deliberate release of these genetically engineered monster germs.

This was in part due to lab accidents at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in July 2014 that raised questions about biosafety at US high-containment labs…

…A CDC internal report described how scientists failed to follow proper procedures to ensure samples were inactivated before they left the lab, and also found “multiple other problems” with operating procedures in the anthrax lab.

As such in October 2014, due to public health concerns the US government banned all federal funding on efforts to weaponize three viruses—influenza, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

In the face of a moratorium in the US, Dr. Anthony Fauci–director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) and currently the leading doctor in the US Coronavirus Task Force–outsourced in 2015 the GOF research to China’s Wuhan lab and licensed the lab to continue receiving federal funding.

The Wuhan lab is now at the center of scrutiny for possibly releasing theSARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and causing the global Covid-19 pandemic.

What more does Dr. Fauci have in his past that he has not revealed to the American public?
