GodLife: If God is Good, Why Don’t I Have Enough Money?

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

(Philippians 4:19)

It’s shameful when someone says, “You are poor because you do not have enough faith.” The Bible says when they make godliness a way to get rich, they have “corrupt minds” and “have turned their backs on the truth.” (1 Timothy 6:5-6) David did say, “I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging for bread.” (Psalm 37:25) But there’s a big difference between “wealth” and “begging for bread.” How can you keep from missing out on all your loving Father has for you?

Three attitudes about God’s provision make a big difference

GodLife: I’m Unemployed. Is God Punishing Me?

“Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for people.” (Colossians 3:23)

Did you know that “God helps those who help themselves” is one of the most-quoted phony Bible verses out there? Remember this: God “know(s) the hopes of the helpless” (Psalm 10:17) and His “power works best in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) If you’ve been praying for a job for a long time, here are a few things to consider.

GodLife: Experience Joy When You’re Sick

Scripture: “[The Lord] said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9a

When you or someone close to you is sick or very ill, do you get stressed out, anxious and worried?

You might feel the need to have control, to be stronger than you’re able to be, or to do the impossible. God is your strength, He has control and with Him, anything is possible. Even through sickness God can be glorified. He can take something bad and show you the beauty in it. Seek God’s purpose through your trials and you will find joy (James 1:2-4).

GodLife: Do You Spend Money Wisely?

“You have planted much but harvest little…You earn money, but put it into a bag with holes.” Haggai 1:6

On a hot summer day you can actually see water evaporating from a stream. Does your money appear to be vanishing? Are you constantly spending more than you earn? Maybe the solution is not getting more money into your hands. Let’s go to God’s word to see what the Scriptures say about money. Do you believe God cares about what you do with the money you earn?

GodLife: Why Am I Sick?

GodLife: Why are these burdens weighing me down?

Scripture: “Because you belong to Him [Christ Jesus], the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” – Romans 8:2

Are you looking for freedom in the right place?

Think about the things that take away your freedom – sin, the things that separate you from God. What will unite you with Jesus? God’s forgiveness. Freedom from sin is freedom from its guilt; this freedom is brought to us by God’s forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Ask God to forgive you today.

GodLife: Tell Others About Jesus

Scripture: “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” – Matthew 28:18-20

Who is one person you could share Jesus with today?

One of Jesus’ greatest commands is to tell others about Him. It can be scary to share about Jesus with others, whether it’s with a stranger or a close friend. But, don’t let fear keep you from telling someone about Jesus today. The reward is far greater than anything bad that might happen – that person’s salvation!.

GodLife: The Forgiving Father

“…But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” Luke 15:20

In Luke 15:11-32, Jesus tells a story about a loving, forgiving father who is an image of our Heavenly Father. God sees us when we stray away from Him. He even knows our greatest failures, yet He loves us and waits for us to come home to Him.

GodLife: Forgiveness from God

Scripture: 38 “Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. 39 Everyone who believes in him is declared right with God—something the law of Moses could never do.” Acts 13: 38-39

What do I have to do to be forgiven by God?

God promises that through your faith in Jesus, He will forgive you. When you believe and trust in Him, you are free from your sins. There is no way to earn God’s love and forgiveness. He offers it freely by His grace – no strings attached.

What Happens When You Accept Christ?

GodLife: Why Should We Forgive Others?

“A man loaned money to two people—500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?” Luke 7:41-42 (NLT)

Once Jesus shared a meal with a very judgmental person. He used this story to show that a person who understands their debt and receives forgiveness will have great love for the one who forgives. Being judgmental and unforgiving shows that you have little regard for God’s forgiveness.
