Discipleship 1.1 Knowing God: Faith Alone

How do you think God feels about you?

The Bible tells us that God, the Creator of everything, is a God of love. But He is also holy, completely without sin or fault and therefore perfect. And our sins (wrong thoughts, words and actions) have separated us from God. Crossing this gap by our own efforts is as impossible as swimming across the Pacific Ocean.

The great news is that God Himself provided the solution by sending His Son. Jesus lived a perfect life, and then died on the cross. He willingly took the punishment for our sins, and now freely offers the gift of forgiveness to all who will accept it and follow Him.

It’s important to know that you will NOT be saved by:
1) Doing more good things than bad
2) Attending church or having a religious background
3) Just believing that God exists

The Bible says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” The faith part is like a marriage—it is a commitment to Jesus that extends forever. Do you truly believe Jesus is your Savior, and want to commit your whole life to Him?
