Discipleship 1.3 Knowing God: Who is Jesus?

I know that reading Discipleship 1.2 might have been hard. But showing the results of sin also shows how wonderful it is that Jesus has given us a second chance.

Remember, our new life is not something we work for, but something given to us by Jesus Christ. Many people wonder why He is so important. What makes Him different from other religious leaders?

For one thing, Jesus was unique because He claimed to be God.

(Jesus said,) “The Father and I are one.” Once again the people picked up stones to kill
him . . . “We’re stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God.” – John 10:30,33

The Jewish people had a very high view of God, which is why the religious leaders wanted to kill Jesus when he made that statement. Notice that He did not say, “You misunderstood me.”

Elsewhere in the Bible, Jesus met a paralyzed man. He said to him, “Your sins are forgiven,” and the religious leaders again accused Him of wrongly putting Himself on God’s level. But he then backed up his claim by healing the man, who walked away carrying his mat, to the amazement of everyone.

Jesus did not perform miracles just to impress people and gain a large following. He did this to show that He was God.

His greatest miracle on earth was being raised from the dead on the third day after He was crucified on the cross. He demonstrated his power over death, and sealed God’s victory over sin.

I hope this helps you understand the uniqueness of Jesus as God. You can find more at:
