Why does God allow evil in this world?

Although we do not have a complete explanation of why God allows evil in this world, there are a few things that we do know. For example, we know that God created the universe and it was perfect, but man, through his free will, chose to disobey God. Because of man’s disobedience, evil came into our world. Even now, because of man’s disobedience to God’s law, evil pervades our world. We live in a fallen world. Evil is a fact of our lives.

The presence of evil is in every one of us. We all have the problem of sin in our lives. If God decided to come tonight at midnight and stamp out all of the evil in the universe, I doubt that any one of us would survive, especially since God knows our hearts!

But, thankfully, God has done everything to address the presence of evil in each of us. He came into human history in the Lord Jesus Christ and He died to solve this problem. Every individual who willing responds to God’s love and plan for our lives will receive His gift of love, grace and forgiveness. The only solution to the problem of sin is God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
